Right now, four minutes to go in the fourth quarter,
Colts now trail the Steelers twenty four to seventeen. Betty

(01:06):
Snell into the end zone for a touchdown. He's now
up to sixty two yards rushing and that score Nagy
Harris leaving the game with an injury. Jalen Warren not
active because of an injury. So now suddenly is it
Benny Snell or Zanovan Knight? Who who do you pick
up first in Fantasy this week? Which running back out
there on the waiver wire? Do I go get? Who
do I go get for next week? Well? You got

(01:28):
Snell or Zanovan? I mean, come on, that's about as
good as it gets. Yeah, yeah, I mean if we
just want to play the name game to say, hey,
I've got a guy, you know, the cool name on
my squad. Well, and especially t J with the US
playing tomorrow, maybe your free agent desires will land On
Zanovan for free agency. I like the candor of all

(01:51):
the guys that are working on come on, wait a mid,
wait a mid, come on. But I just made Landon
Zanovan happen. And it sounded good. Come on man, I
just made that right there. No, it was. It was good.
Your free agent wishes will land Don Zanovan to make that?
Come on, man, that's brilliant right there. It's very anti American.
We didn't. I didn't do any I said was laws

(02:13):
of a legend, the USA legend landing Donovan. That's all
I said was landon Donovan's name, and I'll tell you
what you know, it will be fun tomorrow. Just just oh,
by the way, is to have the double screen experience
of watching USA, I ran and live watching the Iron
Cheeks Twitter accounts. Well, by the way, you need to
call it iran or that or that reporter is gonna

(02:34):
come after you next. Oh that's true. That's true. Well,
because that's how the Iron she could eat one. Yeah,
he would say it all the time. He would do that. Yeah,
I know his Twitter account and during the World Cup
and especially on NFL Sundays. He's been great during the
World Cup. But you want to talk about a number
one football fan, she gets after it. Yeah, no, no, no,

(02:56):
that he holds and look he says everything the analysts
should be. Don't sugarcoat it. This guy steaks. Hey, guys,
forget Twitter. How do we get picture and picture of
the game and the Iron Cheek live? Does he does
he do any of those services where we can get
like the video messages and just pay him to do
it for like an hour, to pay by minute. Shoes

(03:18):
on him right now. I'll tell you monsoon those boots
need to be illegal. He's doing this. Stop he's loading
the boot. Jeff Bezos right now is probably saying, all right,
all right, so hang on a second, Hang on a second.
So for for Thursday night football, what are we paying
the guys to do Thursday night football? Will we pay?
We're paying him like a hundred million dollars. Couldn't I

(03:39):
just get the iron cheek for like fifty bucks and
we'll promote his Twitter account? Why are we paying? Why
are we paying these guys all this money? That? Okay?
Could we get the iron cheek for like a thousand
dollars a day and and we promote his Twitter account?
But you also have you're also paying Lebron whatever you're
paying him and all these guys. I guess they're doing

(04:01):
the alternate stream thing too. They are that that is true,
But that's Lebron really take a night off from a
game to do one of those I'm sorry, I need
I need some time. Like what was it when when
Ron Artest Metal world Piece wanted time off from the
basketball season to go promote a rap album. They did
because he didn't miss a couple of games due to injury,

(04:21):
and then did the first one of those a couple
of weeks ago. Hey, I got an album coming out,
so I can't play for like the next month. I
gotta do some touring so people buy this album. Right,
I can't do that. It is the regular season. Steve
Kerrower or Popovich could have made that work for him.
I'm sure. What does it matter, Lebron? Now when guys
take off all the time, they would say, yeah, sure, fine, Yeah,

(04:41):
that's that's fine. Well didn't you read all the Think
of the Children articles last week relating to the Warriors
Tommy and Susie and their holiday holiday holiday gifts that
might have come early because the Warriors were in town
and they didn't get sam. Oh, no, I am the
ghost of Christmas present. Wait, you're the ghost of I

(05:03):
just met you though, you're the ghost of Christmas past? Yeah?
I was did I had to fill in for the
guy who was passed. Now I'm also the ghost of
Christmas present? Right about it? Uh? We could talk about
how complicated other banks may get to a deem credit
card rewards, or we could talk about how we discover
you can redeem rewards for cash and any amount it anytime.
I mean, talk about amazing learn more at Discovered dot
Com slash redeem rewards terms they do Applyhe seventeen, Still

(05:27):
just under three minutes left to go in this game,
the Steelers with a seven point lead. Colts do have
the football and are driving again. Still some time left
in this game. But one of the big headlines today
that I absolutely love because I love the way it's
been reacted to by the person involved in it. Dion
Sanders confirms he's been offered the head coaching job with

(05:53):
the New York He's been offered the head coaching job
with Colorado right now. Right now, he's got Jackson stayed
a leave to know. They're playing their conference championship this weekend.
And Dion said Monday that a report stating Colorado has
offered him its head coaching job is true, and he's
also received interests from other schools. Quote, I'm not gonna

(06:13):
sit here and tell all my business, but they're not
the only ones. Uh. You know. This is why I
love this story, because when anybody else has offered a job,
or there's some kind of situation where a guy could
be leaving a college to go coach somewhere else, that's
I've had no contact with the school. There is no
truth to this report. I have not spoken to anyone. Meanwhile,
the agent is doing all the work. There is no

(06:34):
truth to this report at all. He has to have
meetings with his players and say, listen, guys, I'm not leaving.
I don't know what you're hearing. We had a big
game this weekend. Meanwhile, he's trying to cross the teas
and dot the eyes. I'm not going anywhere. I don't
know where this is coming from. I have no idea
now with Dion senators, it's oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah,
they offer me the job, and you know what, not
just them other team. Other teams are too. How cool

(06:55):
is that? Oh yeah, I'm talking to other people. I've
as one saying, oh yeah, I'm talking to other people
about jobs, and they're coming in and up. You know.
It's I don't need you, don't. I don't worry about
the attention. The attention is great for me. I've had
attention my whole career. But yeah, Colorado are the schools.
Oh yeah, I'm talking to everybody. I love the fact
that he is just so open when this when nobody
else is. It's always I'm covering it up so much.

(07:17):
But Dan's like oh yeah, Like you could have said, hey, Dan,
who are you talking? Oh? I got the list right here,
hang on right here, here, you call this guy at Colorado,
call this guy here. Yeah, I got it all right here.
I love the fact that Dion is just secure enough
to say, yeah, I'm talking to other people. So okay,
that's that's that's kind of how it is. Yeah, that's
what's going on. Keep talking about changing the paradigm, right,
changing the way these things have been done. That's why

(07:40):
I defended as much as you can look at the
Colts and the hiring of Jeff Saturday and people might
not have liked it, and protocol and history and all
that stuff. It's like at some point someone had to
step out and say, you know what, let's do things differently.
Do you like the way that the team has been
run over all this year with the cold and maybe

(08:00):
maybe not? Uh you go back to Frank Reich, you
go back to the benching, Sam Ellinger getting out there,
all of that stuff. But they broke they broke the history,
they broke the mold and said let's go do something differently. Likewise,
Dion always been a guy to just say, ah, the
hell with it, let's go right and going all the
way back through his days at Florida State. Look at

(08:22):
how he handled press conferences and all that stuff. As
a player, it's the same thing. Never got any trouble,
never had any issues. But because he was outspoken and flashy,
they were there were all the folks that didn't like him.
I mean he was And he had a guy from
Purdue emulate his high step on an interception return and
had it called back because he was high stepping from

(08:44):
the thirty on in. So you know, he's had his
influence on the game. And now just for this, everybody
knows it's ay. The long term is to dominate the
coaching profession at at at another space, at a higher
space different and to try to bring up where he
is now certainly in the league and the players and

(09:05):
the facilities and all, but that that would eventually end.
He's just being open about it. Yeah, they're calling so
all you other than our candidates, No, you're competing with
what Dion can bring in terms of recruiting. Good luck.
Well see, because here's the thing is now what Well.
I love the fact that he's saying, oh yeah, yeah, look,
I'm talking to everybody man, that's what's going on. There's

(09:26):
like nor like in a relationship. If if you're the
guy says that the girl, the girl says the guy,
You're not seeing anybody else, are you? And if the
guy is seeing someone else, no no, no, no, no
not I'm I'm keeping that a secret. No no no no.
It said, oh yeah, yeah, yeah we went out there,
remember Mary, Yeah, yeah, we went out the other night.
We had a great time. It was awesome. And not
just Mary, there's some other girls too, and you know,

(09:47):
and you know them and and yeah we're having a
really good time. Oh hey, look this is nothing new
for me. But yeah, no, Mary and I went out
Friday night, went to the movies, dinner, we had drinks.
After all. This is great audio. No, Mary and I
were hanging out. This we never agreed to in terms
of exclusivity. Well, you kind of do when you take
a job as head. Well in this particular case though,

(10:11):
Well but again it's like, what what's the actionable item
If if a coach had and previously said this, Yeah,
there'd be some angst and some anxiousness. I think DIONI
in in the whole realm of things is is just
it's it's a different it's a shifter in terms of
how the how you look at the long term, right,

(10:33):
because when he took the job, it was the question
of does he want to coach? He proved that pretty fast,
right in terms of how he's built this program. His
son's a star who becomes you know, one of the
N I L slash Transfer portal would be heroes to
wherever Dion would take a job. But I think it's
been pretty clear from the jump that this was a

(10:56):
starter job. No disrespect to the players or the programs
in question. That's that's not my point at all. But
I don't I don't know that just because he had
the guts or audacious way of going about it to say, hey,
I'm I'm different and I'm just gonna be upfront about it. Yeah,

(11:16):
people are calling, as opposed to no, no, no, there's
been no contact, which we all would say, you're a liar.
Now he's saying, oh yeah, no, I'm talking to everybody.
But all these other coaches though, it's like we laugh
at it. So so why he's like, why play the
game of sure aides they know they know people are
calling and knocking on the door. Well here, here's the

(11:38):
other part of it is that Colorado is the name
we heard. He said, there's other schools, which I'm sure
there are calling him. He's not going to take the
job at Coloro. No, I mean, this is what Dion
wants is Deon said, Okay, I want to get into coaching.
He gets the job at Jackson State because, let's face it,
when he hasn't proven anything, who was going to give
him a job? Right? What when when you don't when

(11:59):
when you're you're a name, but we don't know what
you can do? All right? Jackson State? Who was biting
to say, hey, we can use Dion's name, maybe Lauren
recruits and look what they did. They did. It's it's awesome.
It's worked out great. But Colorado the next jump for Dion. No, No,
he doesn't want to jump to Colorado. He wants to
jump to an sec level of head coaching where he's
going toe to toe and press conferences with Nick Saban

(12:22):
and Jim Harbaugh and Ryan Day. If he's still the
coaching the house date and all these other guy he
wants to be there. Like he's saying, I'm not making
a jump from I'm not doing the Jackson State to
a mid level D one job, to an upper level
D one job, to an elite D one job. He
wants to go from Hey, from Jackson State to that
elite D one job, Like, that's what he wants, and

(12:43):
he's not gonna it's not gonna be something. He wants
sec in the area. Look, Deon has been such a
he's been so famous in that part of the country
for a long time. In Atlanta and Florida. Look an
he wants he wants that sec A C. C. Hey,
Florida State might want to hire me. That's what he's
gonna jump too. He's not gonna make this jump to Colorado.
He's gonna wait for one of those jobs to come available,

(13:04):
and that's the job he jumps for. Yeah, I think
the big thing, you know, is the the wild card.
This is what happens with his son, right. Does he
think that the two of them moving together increases his
prospects to anything to where the move would be quicker
in that regard. I know Berkeley was trying to talk
up Auburn. Well that's gone, so that's no longer the case.

(13:27):
And you mentioned Ryan Day just to throw it out
there because I did the main line yesterday. Uh, and
I'll do it again. I didn't know which would break first,
your spirit or your body. And that's what we saw
Michigan due to a state. Twitter and out about a Fresco.
Mike gets swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my

(13:48):
best friend Mike Harmon live from the Tirac dot com studios.
That's what you're looking at more for Dion, right that
that's where he's gonna wind up ending up, not someone. Yeah,
you know, color it's great and you're Colorado. Was like, hey,
I'm gonna put this out there so people know that. Hey,
at least the level of Colorado was calling me. So
if a school like Florida or Florida State or something

(14:10):
like that wants hey, okay, it's okay, we don't. We
don't feel bad about calling him. The other schools are
doing it, so okay, we we can call. It's gonna
work out. It's gonna be great. Twitter and now about
a Fresca. Mike gets swollen down The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike car And we could talk
about how with complicate, how complicated other banks make it
to redeem credit card rewards or we could talk about
how with Discover you can redeem rewards for cashing any

amount at anytime. I mean talk about amazing learn more
discovered dot com slash redeem rewards. That's discovered dot com
slash redeem rewards terms they do apply. Well, we'll have
more on Coach Prime because that's who wants be called
now is coach Prime. But it is now over in
Indianapolis and Jeff Saturday tasting defeat on Monday night against
the Steelers. We break it all down coming up next.

(14:55):
Keep it right here, Jason and Mike, This is Fox.
Be sure to catch live edition of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Well, we told you from the beginning that
the Jeff Saturday ted Lasso situation is real and the
ted Lasso effect is real. But much like what happens

(15:19):
in ted Lasso, sometimes when you have a head coach,
it doesn't have experience. He's gonna make some mistakes and
the team's not going to win. Now, I think you'll
see that the dimensions of this field is exactly the
same as our field. No, it's not, coach. It's an
extra five square feet, huge advantage for Man City. Really,
they're not all uniform, no, no, no, each pitch is different.
Oh I didn't know that. Um, that's what happened at

(15:41):
the end of regulation moments ago. Steelers able to beat
the Colts seventeen. Now this isn't going to be the
big overwhelming Oh my goodness, he blew a headline. But boy,
Jeff Saturday, Boy, what was going on? Steelers lead in
the game twenty four seventeen, and they have the ball

(16:02):
with a little bit more than two minutes left to go,
and they start driving and they get the ball with
They have the ball with a little bit over a
minute left to go, and they're facing a second and
seventeen at the Steelers forty yard line. Matt Ryan, I
believe it's the longest run he's had in his life.
And I mean going back into high school. You had
the thirty seven yards scramble middle school. No, he actually

(16:24):
ran more than that in the scrambling. I don't know
what I mean. He actually had one that counted at
seven yards two weeks ago. I I can't, I can't,
it's a joke. I can't make a joke. I'm making
a joke. I'm just making a joke. I'm just giving
sat all right. But but but never let the facts
get in a way of a good joker story. I mean,
that's the whole thing that he also had a three

(16:46):
game too. I also blew three lead. Um so Matt
Ryan with a seventeen yards scramble, setting up a third
and three scrambles all the way to Pittsburgh's twenty six
hard line. Alright, so the culture in business, it's third
and three. They have all three of their time outs left.

(17:06):
So let's you know, we got third and three, let's
make sure we leave enough time on the clock. Nearly
thirty seconds tick off the clock until finally they call
time out. Not but and not after that play, but
after the following play where Jonathan Taylor Thomas runs up

(17:28):
the middle for no game twice, so he scrambles for
seventeen yards. It's the Pittsburgh twenty six yard line. No
harm in taking a time out here and figure things out.
You never want to, I know, you don't want to
get to a point where we're gonna score, We're gonna
give the ball back. But you have enough time to
figure things out steelers. Right, you have enough time to
figure things out here a little bit, right, So you

(17:49):
don't call a timeout. So you take it all the
way down to thirty seconds when you snap when and
when you snap the next ball. So now suddenly you're
facing a third and three, which turns with a fourth
and three, and you've let all this time tick off
the clock. Alright, not that, And that's why this isn't
going to be one of those, oh my goodness, a
mistake that costs the game, because they still had a

(18:11):
fourth and three with thirty seconds left to go. They
didn't make it, but even if they had, now you're figuring, Okay,
now do we have enough time? Do we do that?
I mean, that's a lot of time to let take
off the clock in the finalment. And not only is
that way too much time to let tick off, but
you're also showing the team. They're going, what's going on?
What's going on? Why are we not calling time out?

(18:32):
We just had a big broken play where the quarterback
ran for seventeen yards. Let's gather ourselves together here, make
sure we have the next the next play we in,
We have the next play we want in at third
and three, let's make sure we have that. And instead
we let all that time tick off the clock and
then wound up running a play that doesn't work on
third down, They're throw an incomplete pass on fourth down again,

(18:53):
they still had It's not like sudden Well, they had
no time left, but they didn't put themselves in a
big enough position to win because of clock management in
the final minute of a game. And I really I
don't know what it is, but I think the way
I can make a lot of money in the off
season now is just to have all and and I'll
do this, like you know, for everybody, so everybody can
make it. I'll have like all these different weekends blocked

(19:16):
off in my calendar in the spring, and I'll invite
all the NFL and college football coaches to come to
my house and I'll say, listen, I'm gonna teach a
time management class, and I will tell you when to
call time out, when to not call time out, when
you can run the clock out when you need to,
when you can kneel on the football, when you have
to run a play. How much time you will have.

(19:37):
Let's just say we have two timeouts left. Is a
minute forty five left in the game. I will tell
you how much time you will have left if you
run the ball twice and the team calls time outs,
if the other team calls one time. I will help
you with all of these things. And I'm gonna charge
you twenty thou dollars to come to my sessions, and
I'm gonna make so much money. That's a twenty grand
for you to understand what time management is like and

(20:00):
how to figure it out. And I think that's a bargain.
I'd make a lot of money. And I just have
people rolling in every year. They I gotta take that
Jason Smith class, right, I gotta have that class. I'm
knowing when to call time out one not to call
time out you can and I would say, hey, here's
my difference. My proof is in the pudding. Look at
this win Syracuse had over Clemson this year because Dino
Papers came to my bleeping house and I said, call

(20:20):
time out with a minute left to go when it's
fourth down a Clemson half the football. I would be
able to have things and have success like that in
my car, and with all the new coaches coming in,
I could do this class every year for the rest
of my life. And what six to eight coaches in
the NFL, all those college coaches one of their nine
FBS coaching slots available right now. I think that was

(20:43):
the last count. Maybe one of those filled. Maybe you
take Auburn off, so eight. But anyway, the point is
lots of coaches, lots of assistants, lots of coordinators, because
you're not just sending one person. No, you give a
group discount, not twenty thousand of person if you send
three or more, or you just start doing consulting and
then you can do nothing. No, I like your idea,

(21:03):
like if with a referral, like the next one is
like fifteen grand or something like that your money. He's yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I know we were not we knock fight if you
If I if someone comes to my classroom a referral,
then I'll knock five grand off. If you know. I
like that, I'm gonna use that I had double occupancy
kind of thing. Um, we're running this better than Elon

(21:23):
must runs Twitter this. Let me first rewind the clock
here for one of your guys that has to show
up and give a speech, is gonna be flavor Flavor
and he gives out a commemorative clock for showing up
at your your your speeches. So we got that. So
we just have to design that and get him on board.
Or someone needs a virtual flavor flav with a giant

(21:46):
clock to understand how how running um running time in
a game works, because let me rewind you back to
the two minutes exactly, and that's what it's. That's when
you know you need to take a time out when
you hear that. Yeah, by fourth and three at the

(22:06):
Pittsburgh thirty seven, coming out of the two minute warning,
Ryan de Pittman four yards, first down, right, next snap,
minute thirty five. Alright, fine, in the shotgun takes a sack.
Next snap, fifty nine seconds and this is where we
get to the mad dash Matt Ryan scramble. So you've

(22:29):
already wasted before this snap, You've already wasted a minute,
and then you do it again. Not to mention maybe
he needed a minute to get his breath. Maybe that
would have worked. Oh yeah, time out number one, Biden,
Indianapolis at thirty seconds. Yeah, Kenny Pickett had been marching
them up and down the field all day long. I'm

(22:50):
really worried about him. In the final twenty seconds of
a game. Come on, what are we doing here? And
freezing cold tanks? Is our executive cruiser? Justin prosberg Is
Stu pointed out, We're we're on it immediately going back
to Saturday's time on, get up. Uh, this is from
the September quote. We're talking clock management in the morning.

(23:13):
Dot dot dot again. There you go. I let no,
I like your idea of flavor flavoring the clock on
the sideline like he and he has. He gets in
your face and that's you know, I got a call
time out? Right, he gets you. He showed he's got
like all the different clocks, but he shows you one
for your game. Here you go, you got a time
to call time out? Now. I want to be talking

(23:34):
flavor flame Bob. When I pressed, I mean I that
means time out. I mean, you know, I understand that
there are certain skills in the world that some of
the best people don't possess, right, some of the smartest
people don't possess right. Like I I look sometimes at

(23:54):
how people send me text messages or how they write emails,
and I go, this is the wrong punctuation in, this
is the wrong syntax. But it doesn't or this this
word is spelled wrong, and and you know, you think,
of all, this person can't even spell. But you know,
things like that are an indicators of of how intelligent
you are. Right, I understand why how people struggle with
certain things. I am awful with directions. I am absolutely

(24:17):
thank goodness for the technology of my phone telling me
make a right, to make a left. McDonald's yeah, no,
McDonald's no, no, no. I just get in the car
and I and I hit the side of the car.
I go, let's ride and the car just goes to McDonald's.
Um so, But so I get like I'm or you
would think, I'd bet I'm awful with directions, Absolutely awful
with directions. So I understand there's certain things in when

(24:40):
people do things for a living that there just aren't
their strengths. And I get the clock management is something
that some coaches just don't grasp in the heat of
the moment. Okay, there's a minute twenty left, we have
one time out, they have one time out. What's this situation,
it's second down. How much time do we take off
the clock? How much time we have? Right? So, either

(25:01):
one of two things has to happen. Either you need
to be on the headset with your clock management coach,
who right away says, coach, we could take this down
to forty two seconds. What do I gotta do call
time out here after a run play? But okay, great,
Or you have to suck it up and go learn
it yourself, because so many times you see coach, yeah,
I have somebody for clock management. Because clock management it's

(25:24):
it's not it's not high enough on your to do list.
Really you need somebody, Okay, So either get that person
or suck it up and go do it, because it's
what you need to be a head coach. If there
was something in radio that I wasn't doing right that
I didn't know to end, they're like, well you need
to do this to be able to be a good
radio host. Now how somebody else do it? No, I'd
want to do it myself because I'm in control of that.

(25:44):
I can't believe more coaches don't want that, don't want
to say okay, let me go in and let me
go take a class on him my cloud again. Twenty
dollars will be a big retreat to be a big weekend,
will play golf. There'll be sandwiches, and I'll teach you
everything you need to know about clock management and when
to call time out and what not to. I don't
understand why coaches still suck at this. I really don't.
And there's no reason for it. There's no reason to

(26:06):
say it. Damn You're like, yeah, I blew it, okay,
but why you have everything in your capabilities to not
But you tell me, there's not one person that can
get in the headset going coach time out here, coach
coach time out. Hey, let's call time out. Hey, let's
let's let's let's let's let's not go crazy. Let's let's
make sure we do this. And yet we continue to
see it. We we've seen it for years that teams
that her Edwards when he was coach of the Jets,

(26:28):
knew he was no good with time management. So we
hired a guy. He hired Dick Curl to be his
uh time management guy. Like, okay, great, at least I'm
hiring somebody to go do it. So I don't understand
why that doesn't happen. And I don't get why more
head coaches because these are the things that they have
to stand up in a press conference and say, yes,
I blew it. Everything else head coach can defend, Hey,

(26:49):
why did you call that running play here? Well, we
like to call here because of this, this, this, this.
You don't understand it because you're a reporter, But I'm
telling you we had a reason for it. Okay, Hey,
why did you not have a time out there? Because
that's what everybody and television can see. Yeah, I blew that.
Oh okay. When it's something that's so easily pinnable on
the head coach, something makes you look so bad. I

(27:09):
don't get why everybody doesn't feel like I need to
be a master at this and I need to figure
this out. Then they haven't done it. They just have
not done it. And here's your latest example, steal from Moneyball.
Why is this guy? Why is he here? Why is
he here? Because he knows how to tell time? If
you don't answer, I'm gonna stop my fingers at pointed
Harmon again, Twitter it out about a fresca. Mike gets

(27:35):
swollen dumb. Does Mike Harmon really need to be in
this meeting? Yes, yes he does, he needs to be.
He's gonna tell us, Mike why knows when to call
time out? Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific. All right, this is Jay Glazer. And
you may know me for the world of football or
fighting or even shows like HBO's Ballers. Well you don't

(27:57):
know is for my entire life. I have lived in
something I refer to as the gray depression anxiety. So
now I'm coming out with a new podcast, Unbreakable, a
mental health podcast with Jay Glazer where each week, while
we talk about mental health, I hope to describe it,
give it words. Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on
the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you

(28:19):
get your podcasts. Now, you know what with Jeff Saturday's
huge time management mistake at the end of this game
that helped contribute to the Cults loss of the Steelers,
I'm really thinking my idea could work, Mike, But I
got like, I got like a thing for it. Now,
Like do I make it one of those like the
time management retreat where where coaches come for a weekend.

(28:42):
It's like called like the twenty Grand Per coach coaches
come for a weekend, we play golf, we attend meetings. Uh,
there are team building exercises. I provide sandwiches, and it's
one of those corporate retreats. Or do I treat it
like Top Gun, where like all the coaches are in
and we're flying combat missions and I'm putting you up. Okay,

(29:02):
I'm putting you in cold here. There's a minute forty
five left to go. You have to timeouts. You're up
by four or the twenty yard line. Go and I
see if it happens. And it's like I got Maverick
and and and Iceman and and Slider and everybody else.
Oh I even got Yeah, I got Vic Fangio in there.
I got Dino Baber's in there. I got Willard and Simpkin,
I got Hollywood and Wolfman? Going where do you go?

(29:25):
Do I make? Which one? Do I make it? Because
Top Gun sounds like more fun. Well, I think we
have to do it both ways. I think you have
to welcome them to the retreat and you've got the
full on. I mean you we have to create the video.
Al Right, we're doing this on air, but I mean
this has to actually be a promotional package that we
start putting up because I think you can have it
both ways, right, We've got to have the classroom learning,

(29:48):
but then we've got to have the practical application, Right,
we gotta get it on. Maybe maybe we can cut
a deal with you know, Jay Glazers's fledgling Hollywood buddy
the Rock and see if we can't simulate it some
XFL teams or I don't know, we we can run
through it. But I think both work, okay, And you
just have to tap into both sides of your personality. Alright,

(30:12):
And now here's hard ass Smith in uniform and trying
to you know, go full top Gun. Yeah, and there
would be at least one afternoon where we go play
beach volleyball with Gene Shorts. I mean there would be
what are you gonna do? The football scene? No, no, no,
I gotta do. I get it back to the classic
the football once bad, that's sad. That was okay, But

(30:33):
we gotta go back to the class. It's gotta be beach,
It's gotta be It was a pale, pale, you know,
imitation of the original, No, no question about. I'm kind
of digging that. I really want to make it more
like Top Gun because I'd be viper, I'd be viper
coming in. You're the elite coaches, the best of the best. Well,
you know how it is though, when you get trained
for you know the stuff you gotta go through to
to be a coach right in you know, for your

(30:57):
or a referee for that matter, going back to a
Y so or any of these for for football, for
for softball, whatever. You gotta do the concussion protocols. But
then if you're gonna do the refereeing for points, right
to play in the playoffs and all those as they
do across the country, you gotta go through it and
look at these scenarios and simulations and make your judgment call.

(31:19):
You gotta put him in the in the booth as well. Hey,
here's what's going on. It's winding down. What do you do?
M press the button? Yeah, yeah, yeh know. I like that.
I like that. Who's who's uh oh No, Gino's definitely
in it. Gino's definitely a Gino. Gino would be I
would have Gino Smith. Maybe Gino would be the guy,

(31:41):
one of the guys playing football to help illustrate the situations.
This is why this is a disaster. Top gun for
NFL coaches. Time management now that's an idea. No, this
is the whole script we can write. I've been playing
around in eyemovie a lot during my days off. Let's
go digging it, all right, So all that's happening, and

(32:01):
we're waiting for Jeff Saturday to hit the mic and
talk about the end of the game, and well, hey,
how messed up that whole thirty seconds left not calling
a time out? Thinks two minutes? What about Mike Tomlin?
What did he have to say following the Steelers victory.
Let's take a listen to the Steeler's head coach. We
we use everybody in the secretary um that's in the helmet.

(32:22):
We've kind of been in that mentality all year. The
rotation of how we utilize them might change from game
to game based on matchup components and things of that nature,
but it's been pretty consistent that dbs in the helmet
we utilize. We utilize them all give you there, and
as they alternated, I'm sorry, I'm just appreciative of both

(32:45):
guys efforts. Men um. Sometimes you get battlefield promoted. Guy
like Benny Snell became a central part of what we
were doing offensively, and he was still on punt team,
he was still on punt return. He was still on kickoff.
UM and Max the guy is always waiting and working
and waiting for his opportunity. And he did some things
that we saw in team development in the preseason that

(33:05):
makes him a little bit different than some of the
other backs of things he's able to do in space,
the screen game to draw game. I just thought he
was an asset to us week week and progress in
particular his ability to overcome diversity. Ship it off you guys,
You guys ask me that every week. You know, he's
getting better every week, and it's in a very natural
way because of the experience. Um, he's a competitor, he's smart,

(33:29):
but it's still a lot of meat on the bone
and and it's just the process. But like I always say,
he's good enough and we're good enough to win while
that happens. And so we're not grading him or us
on the curve. We acknowledge that he's very much in development.
You can ask me next week and I'll tell you
he got better in all areas again next week, because
which each snap becomes exposure and sharp guys, guys that

(33:50):
are competitors, they grow from those things, three really good
tasses near the end of that game winning drive. Um,
what did you let them move that when where he's
able to see, you don't feel and finish at that
point when someone we have him in there because we
think he's capable of that. And so he proved it,
and UM, you know, I'm sure he's gonna get a

(34:11):
lot of other opportunities moving forward to prove that. Um.
We need people that run toward action, not away from it,
and he runs towards it. Alex is legit. I think
everybody knows that. Um. But at the same time, man,
it's good to have old ninety on the opposite side
of you. I think that helps anyone else. He has

(34:35):
a big league that and you lost it, did anything
change or were able to absorb your team pay back?
And he took the league facilitate that just the natural
ebb and flow of football. They they they got a
momentum with that kickoff. Um, was able to put that
ball in the end zone, and so you got to

(34:56):
turn that tide. That's that's that's that's professional football. That's
that's is part of it. And it doesn't happen in
an instant. When we went down there other two minutes
ago and the way him coming off the field medical
course from I don't know where it came from, but
obviously wherever it came from, we respected. Dude. How do

(35:20):
you not ask them about the clack? Hey? Were you
okay that Jeff Saturday? And all that time tick off
the clock at the end, coach, Coach, how do you
feel about that coach expecting an early holiday gift? You know,
three or four times when he didn't call time out
after place? Coach? What's going through your head when you're
seeing the clock tick and no time out being called?
Can you tell me? Are you just why you have

(35:42):
long longevity? Are you laughing on the inside? Coach? Are
you at least on the inside for us? Are you? Uh?
We will have more on this game coming up, plus
the other big NFL story that has dominated the last
twenty four hours. And yes, I'm going to continue to
refine my NFL time management rich treat as a top
gun class gentlemen, This is up thirty one. Competition for

(36:04):
the time Management Trophy remains tight. Vic Fangio still in
the lead with two points. Goot
