(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Hey, that is
Syracuse soccer in the National Championship game on Monday against Indiana.
Student Syracuse takes national championship and if they win, they
go right to the World Cup. This is a sports show.
They take Brazil's place and they play in the semifinals. No,
(00:47):
I'm I'm all about the collegiate soccer experience. Keeping an
eye on all of it. Shows. You say so fun time.
It's good for you Smith, Syracuse and Morocco. They will
play to see who makes it to the champions Oh,
I can't wait, Oh, I can't wait. National Championship, the Cup,
the College Cup. Here it is man Syracuse in Indiana,
(01:11):
just like the National Championship seven in college. I'm just
glad that you jumped on board right as they're getting
to the finals. Good for you. Well, when they were
getting to the final four is when I jumped. And
then actually, one of my best friends goes to Creighton
and this is like the only time we've had chance
to talk smack to each other when we play against
each other and something that has some kind of stakes
(01:31):
in it. Meanwhile neither has no any of the players
or anything else. And it was, it was, It was
awesome because now I have it over him like forever,
Like when's the next time Siricus will play Creighton for anything?
You know that's worth it? So now I have I
have the bragging rights to them forever, trying to get
that Craton Blue Jays back talking while you're at it.
I love it. Yeah, we're not playing him in football
(01:52):
because they don't have a football program. Easy Frostburg, Creton,
not Syracuse, jerk. I do what you knew what you
were gonna say. I beat you to that punch slide
so close, use naturally, and if it goes to penalties,
you get the starting five from Syracuse. In Indiana in
the eighties seven national title game in college basketball, they
take all the penalties and to make it to make
(02:14):
it even there's no keeper, all right, they just have
to from a certain spot. They've gotta kick it into
the net. Right, we just made they have to kick
it into the net. There's no keeper, and that's how
we keep CHECKSI who what if they kick it through
the uprights? Do they get a half of being able
to kick it that far? Yeah? No, I think we
just these guys are all like. These guys are all
(02:35):
like in their mid to late fifties. I just gotta
let him put it in the net. So you have
to do the hip joint still swing forward properly. We're
broadcasting live from the tirect dot com studios. Tirect dot
com will help you get there and unmatched selection, fast
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tirect dot com the way tire buying should be.
(02:58):
So if you hear that, Derek Man, start practicing. Okay,
let's not have that rerun at the end of the
eight seven game when you couldn't make a free throw. Okay,
let's make sure we make that alright, d C alright,
go get it here we go Syracuse, Syracuse in the
national change and I would be the biggest bandwagon family
because it's still my school. Right if they win the
national title? Do you know the Syracuse soccer gear, I'm
(03:21):
gonna buy the National Championships soccer gear. I'm gonna buy
like I've been a fan of the team since the beginning. Oh,
it's gonna be awesome. No, I get that. That's the
kind of guy you are. Uh, there's no question about it.
I we would be remiss if we didn't commemorate the
release of one of the finest, most well loved, and
(03:41):
I mean more posters sold than any other movie in
in history. Scarface was released on this day in three whoa,
it's almost the forty year anniversary of Scarface. Wow, seeing
about that, Dan, You say that and all people remember
is say, hello, d f France that all people remember
what they paid Jason, what they pay like mellow with
(04:02):
the basketball team, what they pay? Now everybody, everybody, we
pay back. Then let's say it was cold Sherman Douglas. Oh, uh, Ronaldo, Yes, yes,
they're paying Renaldo and Christiano Ronaldo, we're paying Messy, Yes,
we're paying everybody. Yes. I gotta be honest. I really
thought you'd start dropping at least two or three names
(04:23):
of kids for this time. I really thought there was
gonna be a little deep talking about the coaching act,
back line. No, come on, no, I'm not. I'm always
gonna be real with you. I'm not gonna tell you
something I'm not. But no, but it was fun. I
watched the game. It was really exciting, you know what, especially, look,
(04:46):
Creighton scores a lot and they have a really big offense,
so the entire game, like, okay, Creton scores a lot
of you. I'm watching the game with the soccer knowledge
that I have from playing and coaching and everything else.
But you know, do I know the players know? But man,
you just watched the press. Sure, Crighton is putting on
the last five minutes seemed like twenty five minutes. Is
Syracuse scored in the eighties six minutes, So it's like,
(05:07):
let's hold on for five minutes and try to win.
It was so even my dad, my dad, who I
can't get to watch more than five minutes of a
basketball game before he says we're gonna lose. I'm turning
this over. He watched the entire second half. Now that's
a lot of him enjoying soccer. More coming to all
Zoey's games the last few years. But even like that,
I can't get my dad to watch it. Well, boy,
(05:28):
can we hold on to this lead? I'm like, look
at you, dad, look at you coming around to this.
I'll be at a soccer pitch at seven and fifteen
tomorrow morning, be up in night rate and yelling. Now
high school soccer. I'm chill, Okay, okay, we don't that
high school game at seven fifteen on the weekend. Starts
starts at eight am, and then another one later in
the afternoon. You know, in high school, you gotta really
(05:51):
love the game. If you're gonna play at seven o'clock
in the morning on a Saturday, they six so win
on and what was that? It would have been Tuesday
afternoon and evening and uh, Maddie scored from a ridiculous
angle and then was immediately subdowns like all right, you're
done for the day. It's one of those little victory
all right about Really, you know what, I might I
(06:16):
might skip that one and I'll see at the evening game. Yeah, yeah,
I already have. I went and found my giant thermis
so I can get my guffee ready before I guess. Uh, well,
thanks to Jason Cole for stopping by last hour on
the show. Longtime NFL Inside of Pro Football Hall of
Fame voter uh comes by talks with us every single week.
(06:37):
Been a big week for him, as earlier this week
he broke a story that made a lot of the
rounds that the forty Niners could go after Tom Brady
and or Aaron Rodgers at the end of this year
to solve their quarterback issues. And he came on with
us tonight we were talking about Baker Mayfield, was all right,
you want something else, I got this for you. The
rumors out there because and I know this is what's
(06:59):
being discussed in side the building is that both Matthew
Stafford and Sean McVeigh could retire at the end of
this year, and the Rams are preparing for both of
those or one of or both of those possibilities. Now,
McVeigh is is a guy we've heard about the He
came back to see if they could validate it's not
going well, this is just gonna be a pause from McVeigh.
(07:21):
But Stafford, I mean, this would be the end of
his career and he'd be walking away from a lot
of money. So Let's just say this, if Matthew Stafford
does retire, there's got to be some kind of settlement.
There has to be, because he's got a lot of
money coming that he could walk away from now. Not
a lot in base money next year, uh and and
not a lot in dead cap next year, but the
year after it would be there. So I don't know
(07:41):
exactly what's left on his on his contract for guaranteed money,
but I would assume he would get a decent portion
of that. And it certainly would make sense why they
rushed to get Baker Mayfield into the lineup so they
could see him as much as possible, because if they
have to make a decision on a quarterback, they have
to get somebody in the offseason. Hey may feel to
form a number one pick. Let's see if he's any good, right,
(08:02):
Let's see if he can be our guy for next
year and beyond. If he's not, okay, we go into
the off season and we try to go get somebody
whoever we wind up wanting to get. So all of
those things makes sense. But the other part of this
is that this tells you that even if they lose
Stafford and they lose Sean McVeigh. This, these are the
actions of a team that is more for a reload
(08:26):
than a restart. Right, because you gave Aaron Donald money,
he's not going anywhere. You know, I told you look
for the Rams to get good again. They're gonna it's
gonna be a couple of years, right, They're gonna have
to tear it down. New head coach knew everything. And and
and how are you gonna get any kind of assets
because you don't have that many. You need a couple
of years. But just this move of going to get
Baker Mayfield when they clearly could have said, hey, if
(08:48):
we need a quarterback in the off season, look if
we tank the rest of this year, we're gonna pick
near the top. Right, we're talking about Levis, We're talking
about Anthony Richardson, we're talking about c J. Stroud, We're
talking about somebody pretty high. Because we're not a good team.
But instead to go out and get Baker Mayfield to
say we're gonna try to win games. Because whatever you
think about Mayfield, they have a much better chance of
(09:09):
him of winning with him than they do with anybody else.
This tells you, no matter what happens with the Rams,
they are looking. Look, we are just going to reload.
We are not gonna take any time away. We are
going to say next year, we're gonna say we lost
this guy. We lost this guy. We're just coming back.
We're coming back. We're gonna keep doing what we're doing.
We're gonna keep them picks, f and them picks. Whatever
you're gonna do, We're gonna keep doing that. And watch
(09:31):
what we do. You think our error is over, forget it.
We're just gonna keep coming. Baker Mayfield's the first of
a lot of changes we can make that We're gonna
try to make sure to keep this team good right now. Yeah,
and the curiosity now flows through the the building. There
if if Stafford does, in fact and walk away, you
start looking at the dollars and cents, right, because I've
(09:51):
been top heavy these last two years making the runs
that they did and changing up the structure of how
they went through the draft picks that were expanded did
to bring Stafford along. Look, that's sunk costs at this point, right,
It's the old thing we've been talking about for many
years on this this show, and applying the economic terms
to it, it's like you have to look at that
(10:13):
is that's spent. You can you can't be held to it.
It's why I argue about the Trey Lance thing in
San Francisco. You made the picks, you made the decisions.
Sometimes two years, three years later, the world looks a
lot different. Hell, think about your own lives. Wherever you're
listening in, we appreciate you being part of the extended family.
How much things change in the matter of a day. Right,
(10:33):
news that you get changes, You run over a nail
on the way home. All of those things can happen. Uh.
And you're gonna tire ract dot com uh to get
that fixed up and get the help you need there.
But you look at for next year, they only have
six picks second round, third round, uh, and three in
the sixth one in the seventh. I mean you're you're
not looking at a robust way to go through the draft,
(10:57):
at least as it stands now. Doesn't mean you can't
spin off layers and potentially add to that that little
bag as you were to go through. But there's a
lot of needs that were established really quickly, right Andrew,
what worth going and working on the Thursday night broadcasts.
One of the big things we've talked about all year,
is that it's like they're grabbing names and positions out
(11:20):
of the hat. As as it relates to the offensive line,
no semblance of consistency beyond Cooper Cup You've had no
no consistency at all in the wide receiving corps. Allen
Robinson was invisible and then he got hurt Van Jefferson.
It took Baker Mayfield to make him viable and for
anybody to say his name in a broadcast. Right. So
(11:42):
in Tyler Higbee has been on again, off again as
your tight end. Like there there's so many other holes
to look at, but it all begins and ends with
that quarterback position. And if you can find a guy
like this on the cheap, as we talked with j Cole,
who's who's on a bet it kind of bet on
yourself kind scenario that seemed to work out for Air
and Judge Caleb Williams and a billion other guys that
(12:04):
we can go on down like a couple of guys
you picked for m v ps and Heisman trophies, just
to you know, just get that out of the way
so we don't have to belabor that point. U is
that the that you can go through. And that's a
pretty nice place to have a guy who's shown in
the past that he can be that big time player
as a Heisman winner and former number one pick, who's
(12:26):
got the talent, whatever the size and the other shortcomings
that we can go to and if the attitude can
get reduced, I you've been humbled, like the iron cheek
would say, you've got a pretty interesting base from which
to start building. In te be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays
(12:47):
at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app. Tell that the
tish deciding I'm gonna play all my drops at once,
all of them once. I want. I'm clearing it on
this space. Is that pause? Listen to the base twitter
at how about a fresco? Mike gets swollen down The
(13:08):
Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon. Any
first responder will tell you never try to beat a
train after breaking It could take a mile for a
train to completely stop. So when you come to a
rail crossing stop because trains, well, they can't. Tomorrow, the
biggest day of the season in college football to date,
we will award the Heisman Trophy. I told you before
(13:28):
the season it was gonna be Caleb Williams. Is there anyway?
At this point, it's not Caleb Williams joining us down
the hotline, the owner, proprietor editor in chief of College
football News dot com. You're one stop shopping for everything
college football, all the previews, all the analysis. He's on
Twitter at Pete fu Tech Pete. What's happening, buddy? There
(13:49):
are these four people out there right now who only
like a balloon bouquet in a basket of mini muffins
because I told them back at when Caleb Williams was
one that that everything wind up perfectly for him and
no one wants really me A couple of people did.
But yeah, now tomorrow if he doesn't win the Heisman, yeah,
(14:11):
I look, I kind of get the idea of Max Tebow,
you know, because he carried TCU all year long, and
you know, but you know, you know, if you're that guy,
you get in the end zone at the end. But
we've got three We've got three guys who didn't win
their own conference championships, and with the possible exception of Stroud,
(14:31):
you might not have the first three quarterbacks off the
board in the NFL draft next year, so it's a
really weird draft. Well here, here's my issue, Pete, is
that you invited four quarterbacks. Caleb Williams had the best
season of all four quarterbacks, and it's not even closer.
It's like, how could you if you want to build drama,
invite you know, invite be Jean Robinson, invite something where
(14:52):
it's okay, well maybe it could go. But if you
invite four guys to do the same thing and one
of them is better than everybody else, I don't see
the drama. I'm a little with you that they should
have looked at. It's based on the votes. It's a
it's based on First of all, it's kind of a
surprise as is I'm very curious to see if the
voting was down this year. I'm actually not joking. You
(15:13):
needed to go through like an FBI screening. My whole
family had to be interviewed, the full body search. Was
a little enough to actually vote this year, To actually
get through all the checks and balances to to actually
place your ballot. It was it was hard, and I
kind of know what I'm doing It took me, you know,
at least a half hour before I figured out that
(15:33):
my VPN was the reason why I couldn't get to
the ballot. But there's gonna be at least of the
voters out there. I'm guess you're gonna be like I
couldn't figure it out. Whatever, I know, who's gonna in anyway,
minus sixteen hundred as we sit here, Uh, Max Duggan
at four plus four isn't bad. I'm gonna predict right
(15:58):
now that this might be a slight bit closer than
I'm always surprised. I'm always remember what this is there.
First of all, there are a ton of voters, most
of them don't really watch college football. And so we
were Trevor Lawrence, who missed the Notre Dame game and
was just okay. But because he was Trevor Lawrence, and
(16:21):
because he was gonna be the number one pick in
the draft, I believe if he finished second behind DeVante
smith in and you know, all these Clemson fans were like, like,
I had an iron clad reason why I voted for
Kyle Trask that year. It sounds crazy now in hindsight,
but remember at the time, he had better numbers than
Joe Burrow blah blah blah, all this other stuff, and
(16:41):
man Clemson Twitter came out hard. So never underestimate the
idea that a lot of Heiser voters out there probably
waited and then they kind of half watched Caleb Williams
on Friday night. That was probably the first time they
saw him, and he was just okay, and they lost.
And Max Duggan, you know, as you know, everyone's hero
(17:02):
almost pulling that out of the fire for the big
throult championship. So if if you're going for the odds,
that's not actually that horrible, I wouldn't be shocked if
Duggan came in out that's in Bennett winning, then then
we've got a thing. Then then that's that's the problem. Well,
I was just going through the rest of them though,
right hand and Hooker, Blake Corum, seventh and eighth. As
(17:24):
as you go down the list, I mean, the guys
that had dominated then up you missed a little time
at the end seeing hell it's pretty much no. But
I'm with that though, I you know what, as a
voter that matters. Because Cord didn't play against Ohio State,
that's it. That's the only game that mattered and sucks
not fair, but in an m v p S m
(17:46):
O p S sort of way, that's it. That's the game.
So yeah, I mean, I I not. I'm surprised he
actually got ahead of Bijon on this so um. Look
the crazy part of all the other guy were also
us the guy who actually led the nation in passing
by a mile and he's coming back next year. Michael
(18:06):
Pennox Jr. Will we'll be back for another year and
he dominated everyone yardagewise, So strange year for this thing. Alright, Pete,
now you you mentioned a couple of seconds ago these
guys at the ceremony. You're not going to be the
first few quarterbacks picked in the draft. I mean, we
could see four in the top ten, whether it's Bryce
Young or Will Levice, C. J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson
(18:27):
has already become the most polarizing prospect of all the
college football quarterbacks. Give me the couple of guys, because
I know you like Bryce Young, you just wish he
had he had like DJ's body. H Who were the
quarterbacks you like the most that can make the jump
from college football to the NFL. Because we're gonna see
a lot of him taken early next year. Yeah, it's
it's a it's a crazy draft for lots and lots
(18:49):
of it. Look what we're cutting him out of Louisville
just announced that his skill set is it's a unique
skill set that might be enough to just be one
of those third round flyers that all of a sudden
sort of hits. I was a huge fan of his.
He's a dual threat playmaker. He might be one of
those better than better NFL players And excuse me, uh,
(19:12):
college guys will love us. Is going to be the
guy who everyone is going to dog because he wasn't
that great this year and he's will love us. And
but with the scouts seemed to see is this guy
took a beating behind a bad offensive line and he
kept getting up and playing and that sort of bought
him more goodwill than anything else. Because everyone knows he
(19:35):
can play. Everyone knows he's got the tools and his
good But how do you how do you respond when
you're getting crushed every game like you would in the NFL?
And he handled it, You know, he was all right,
and he got knocked out for a little bit. With
you know finger injury, which wasn't his fault, but his
toughness there really sort of showed something to me. You're right.
This is the crazy part about this now is what
(19:57):
do we just experience over the last two weeks. Baker Mayfield,
who I would chirp about being dead on right that
he was not anywhere near the number one pick of
the draft that year. Uh, look, he just went to
his third team and did that. You know, Sam Donald
was third in that draft, and who went seventh, Josh Allen? Uh,
and everyone, well, he only hit his passes in college.
(20:19):
Nobody wants to make that mistake with Anthony Richardson, similar size,
similar skill set, big time upside. So you're right, he
is going to be the polarizing guy in this miss
that nobody wants to miss. On Again, I would chirp
about getting that Baker Mayfield thing right, except I really
did think Josh was going to be the star of
that quarterback in that class, Rosen not Allen. So I'm
(20:40):
not gonna you know, pump put myself up too much here,
So making news with the the arrival, making news upon
telling people, hit the transfer portal, and general ruckus all around.
Did he sell out by leaving Dion Sanders heading to Colorado. Uh,
you could pick one of nineties seven lanes that people
(21:02):
have decided to take this place and this hiring to Pete.
What do you think of the move? What does it
do for Colorado short term? And how long is he there?
I love everything about it as as Wisconsin grad. Look,
I know Luke Fickle will be fine. Dion, that's a
shot at the stars. You know, that's your that's your
(21:23):
you know, your imagination. Pick here because first of all,
I'm a huge fan of but it gets kind of
lost that. You know, that was kind of astomed. I mean,
I know if everyone else and maybe not, but for
anybody was in the college football well, the only reason
why he was the Jackson State head coach is because
Florida State didn't hire him. I mean, that's he they
he got that gig. He did everything when he made
(21:46):
the college better. He got the facilities going, he got
the got the attention on the university and all the
great parts about the HBCUs and you know, he left
it far better than he found it. And he's now
going off to a gig where he can make even
more of a splash and you know, look, you know,
not to take this to this tangent, but name the
(22:08):
African American head coaches in college football right now. We
just lost David Shaw to the mix. You know her
med words was fired. Well, he Taggart was fired. Uh,
It's it's really kind of barren out there. So the
argument on the flip side is he's actually groundbreaking in
a different way now and he's doing this at a
big school and as a coach, he proved himself. Look,
(22:29):
you know, he this wasn't just gonna be a side
gig for him. He really did the work and was
terrific at Jackson State. And now he's got the guys
around him and he's gonna have the talent and what
is you know, at least eight percent of the battle
in college football, it's do you get the four and
five star guys to come to your place and in
this transfer portal And this isn't hyperbole. Out of the
(22:49):
thousand or so players that are about to be in
this thing, at least two hundred of them if paying
to Colorado and coach Prime and said I want to
you know, hey, you're interested in me. I'm kind of
curious about there. He is going to get the talent there.
And I'm not saying they're gonna be USC or anything,
but that showed you can get really good, really fast
if you get the guys there. And he already told
(23:09):
his team, you know, I'm courting him here, and when
he uses this term, he said, you know the guys
are there. Look, I'm bringing the dogs in here. Like
he's he knows what talent is like and he's going
to bring that to Colorado. You know. The two things
with him is that it is gonna be a little
bit more of an awakening going, Okay, we're getting great
prospects to come in, but we're playing high level D
(23:30):
one instead. If I got great prospects coming to Jackson State,
who normally wouldn't, But he'll adjust, there'll be That's the
one question mark there is. He is Deon Sanders. He
is one of the great. I mean, first of all,
you know who better in an n I l era
to know how to navigate those waters. But what happens
when they lose any he is he's not great at
(23:51):
taking criticism and so when he was at Jackson State,
they rocked right away. His teams were amazing right out
of the gate. They uh, you know, they rolled up
until the Celebration Bill last year and they've been great
this season. What happens when they go six and six?
You know, what happens when they do make a you know,
there is a strange coaching decision that goes the wrong
(24:13):
way and they end up losing to Washington State. Or
what if it takes even with four and five star coming,
what if it takes the Colorado team that was awful,
you know, a couple of years to rebuild. You know,
will he be able to you know, how will that
work for someone again who is not really used to
being questioned? Yeah, okay, so there's that part of it.
(24:34):
The other thing is everything he said, I'm with you.
The only thing I was not a fan of was
when he told all the kids go at the trans
reportal it's it's it's a reason for you to bring
in other guys. You know, I get there's honest, there's honest,
But then you gotta remember these kids have just had
their world turned upside down. They've worked really hard their
entire lives, through high school through college to get where
(24:55):
they are. Yeah, they're not winning, and I get they're
gonna have meetings, and they're gonna be told, Hey, you
don't have much of a few you here, but you
know this is gonna be broadcast out there. And to
tell people right away in your first meeting, hey, you
guys can at the portal. My son is gonna be
the quarterback. You could have done that a little bit better.
You You could have thought about the kids a little
bit and not just made it all about me in
that situation. Welcome to college football. Look, you know, here's
(25:16):
a bus ticket and a peanut butter sandwich. Look I
thought I thought it was the flip side where you're
not playing here, so the transfer portals open, go find
somewhere where you can play. I've seen that. I've seen
other coaches do it. Okay, it was contain very often.
As you know, we're right out of the gate. He said,
we're gonna win championships here. None of you all gonna
be around when we do that. That's there's there's a
(25:38):
whole lot of story. I think Chuck Nolan is the
other one who famously said that when he first took
over the Steelers. I mean, there's a bunch of that's. Look,
there's no good way to do any and all of this,
and to me, it was basically saying if the other
part of that that you're kind of you're glossed over
is he said, look, I am bringing in talent here.
This place is going to win. And that's much for
(26:00):
the fan base, that's like, yeah, it's great. We love
to try hard guys. Of course these guys busted for them,
but you know what, we want the four and five
star guys to come in and compete with USC on
a on a regular basis. So I think that what
he did is basically put it out there and said
we're just gonna be better. And every major coach who's
(26:21):
gone on to big things has done that from the start. Pete,
what's the over under on opt outs for the bowl season?
And did you lock in all your bets? Aread? Oh,
we're dear god here. Let me let me try this
exercise for you. When the when the NFL schedule comes out,
I can't remember when that is. It's always like April
(26:41):
or something like that. There's always a day I might
begin this wrong. When they announced the preseason schedule, put
your best style, then try try doing that. That's what
this is like. We're basically betting on NFL preseason games.
Now at this point, if you're so inclined, because we
don't know, we know who's you have like the Enway Bowl,
which doesn't have any coaches, done to any quarterbacks, you know,
(27:03):
we're gonna have backup quarterbacks all over the place. You know.
That's why something like for example, the Cure Bowl, where
you have U T s a versus Troy, you know,
two conference champions mostly not not any opt outs, really
not a whole school of transfers, coaches mostly still around
with the us uts, the offensive coordinator. Uh, but this
is this is gonna be ugly, you know, and bang
(27:26):
up job college football. Let's see we last week at
this time, we were just probably talking about the USC game,
and you had the Saturday which was kind of underwhelming,
but you know, all the fun of Okay, there's your
college football playoffs final four and there's the bull and
he said, why don't the very next day we have
the transfer portal go and have all the players leave.
So it's this is not gonna be this is not
(27:50):
gonna be pretty. This is gonna be an ugly look
for these exhibition games, and why the expanded college football
playoff might make this even better. He's on Twitter at

Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon. Hey, you
live from the tire Rack dot com studios. Well, we
do it every week. We give you our Upset special
picks of the week and the National Football League on
(28:57):
a four no run. I think I'm twenty and eleven
now this year Upset Specials, it's a good run. I'm
feeling pretty good. Can I stay hot? My first team
is Mike Carmen, and I've been pretty well picking the Bears,
but I can't pick them this week, so instead, Hey,
six teams on a by for you fantasy six teams.
(29:19):
Most of them are not really relevant to the playoff chase,
but players you've got to replace in your fantasy lineups.
Give me the Ravens getting too over the Steelers. Tyler
Huntley is gonna start most likely. He has been pretty good. Yeah,
the Winds haven't been there, but he has put points
on the board and moved the team when he's had
(29:39):
to play for Lamar Jackson. He may be the most
talented backup quarterback in the NFL. They still move when
he plays. Pittsburgh's defense is awful versus the run, which
is great because I think Jamal Lewis might be running
for the Ravens this week. It's gonna be low scoring
and the Baltimore run d does enough versus a pretty
bad Pittsburgh off Give me Baltimore. Yeah, I think I
(30:04):
think you got a number there. I'm looking at Carolina
to be frisky on the road at Seattle. Kenneth walk
doesn't look like he's going to be able to play.
You're looking at the Carolina squad where Dante Foreman looks
like he will, and they've been running the ball well.
They're five and one in their last six against the number.
Now they're terrible on the road, oh and nine in
their last game nine games, just brutal, but looking for
(30:28):
them to stabilize things, and it's it's about time for
a hiccup. So I'm gonna go bold. And the fact
that the line is three and a half, it seems
a little odd considering it started the year the early
line was minus seven. That we've seen enough noise in
it to move it down and cut it in half.
So what quarterback are you backing in this game? I'm
(30:49):
gonna say it's Sam. Sam's coming out of the bye week,
Sam Donald is ready to roll. Has You talk about
desperation every now and then we do get desperate. You
talk about desperation. The Giants are desperate. They started out great,
then they were shown to be well a team that
(31:12):
kinda was getting by. They were well coached, and they
just happened to be doing barely enough. Now they're getting
exposed a little bit. But they're desperate. Philadelphia won't be
able to run like they think they will. Even though
the Giants front seven statistically doesn't look great, they've been
playing better lately. Watch out, they'll get a couple of turnovers.
(31:34):
Daniel Jones is gonna get rid of the ball quickly.
He's the one that's gonna have a big game run
in the football, Not Miles Sanders, not se Kwon Barkley.
If you're one of those, boy, Daniel Jones ran for
ninety yards in this game, give me the Giants. Yeah,
I remember Barkley. We're gonna be looking to see whether
he's available come game time. He's on the injury report.
(31:55):
By the way, at this point, you just hate the
state of Pennsylvania. Want to put that on record as
you pick against both their squads. I have got to
look over to you know, you had your Bermin lines
and you had some pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good
time with all of that. Uh, they lose, and they
lose out right to Tom Brady and the Bucks coming
to town as uh three and a half point dogs. Now,
(32:19):
while this game will not be an offense and barn Burger,
I'll take the Buccaneers, still a top ten defense to
make one play there to make it go. The fact
that Bosa has also banged up for this one. Yeah,
give me the Bucks. Wow, I think you're the only
one in the world picking the Bucks this week. Wait,
that's out on a limb, my friend. Well, everybody loves
(32:40):
pretty they wanted to. Oh, nothing's gonna change. It's all
good to the overtime. This is a pretty good defense
that's coming in here, all right. It's not a bunch
of slappy's. So as much as uh we may hate
the Tampa offense for much of this season, I think
they could get just enough. Now we'll see if weather
becomes a factor and then it becomes a field goal
(33:01):
kicking contest. But uh, suck up versus gold Let's go
all right now, Frostberg, do you have an upset special pick?
You want to get anyone? Okay, go ahead, Thank you
for the time. How do you spell bills? Oh my god,
I thought you were gonna say plus three at home.
Mike Williams is back, Baby, I don't think he's say
(33:22):
that the Bills. Yeah, you know, the Bills are favored
by ten. Still take them all points and all of them,
you know, you every last one. You have to give
those points to the Jets. You wait all ten sauce
gardeners in the end zone with his second pick six,
it's going to be he doesn't. He doesn't hold if
they don't call it sauce. Uh, there's our upset special
(33:46):
picks the biggest story the night. Coming up next Fox
