Tirac dot com the way tire buying should be. And
you know, I said it a couple of minutes ago,
and it's on right now. Iron Man three is what
I'm telling you. Look, iron Man Free is a Christmas
movie that's fantastic. Iron Man three. I got bad Santa,
I got the men at work singing to me. I
got Newman about to meet his end. Wait, how could
(01:08):
you listen to me? How could you listen to music
while you're doing the show What are you thirteen? And
I have I have no I'm just watching the videos
with no huh, Okay, he's got his iPod on. I'm like,
I'm like, he's like every thirteen year old kid that
has the the the air pods in and I can
do I can hear you, but you're listening to music. Yeah, yeah,
but I can hear you. What are you saying to me?
I've been multitasking forever. Well, iPod got right through the cracks. Huh, hey,
(01:35):
I I still I have one. I still have an
iPod too. I got one of that works. I've got
a really nice catalog of music on there. I don't
like putting music on my phone because all it does
is just kill the battery. And I'm like why, And
I don't want to be charging my phone all the time,
So I don't like it. I'd rather have my music separate.
I have a lot of music on mine. Yeah I don't.
(01:58):
I don't. I feel like I'm gonna listening a gonna
want them have to charge it again and all this stuff. No, no,
keep it separate. But then but now they don't make
iPods anymore, so it's kind of hard. So your CD
players your go to. I still have some CDs, of
course you do. I still have some CDs. Uh got
some tracks? No, no, no, no, eight tracks are gone.
Manyl in the house. This is gonna be a big
(02:21):
The Phantom of the oppera earlier. Yeah, no, no, my daughters,
I told you, it's always on a big vinyl kick.
And there's gonna be a lot of vinyl here. It's
gonna be like the seventies on Christmas. Hey, man, let's
let's put on some bread. Did we put on the
best of bread. Let's put that on. Yeah. But you
can put it on the bluetooth and uh yeah. That's
the best part is record players can can hook up
(02:42):
to the bluetooth. But it's gonna see I think I
think it should go old school. Yeah, you gotta plug
in a couple of giant ass speakers, the cracks and pops,
because that's the thing. I enjoyed the hell out of. Right.
So we talked about it a little bit last week.
As you start right and getting ready for the holiday holiday, holiday,
I think tomorrow we're actually gonna go spend some time
(03:03):
in Amiba. But they didn't. They have these grab bags
which are cool as hell. Uh. So you picked by
genre decade, uh and get a bunch of forty five
and we did the seventies, and we did tomorrow and
b uh and going through and one of them is
the the Terry Jack's legendary song Seasons in the Sun.
But when you put the forty five on the crackle
(03:25):
and and that little snap, and it's like you just
kind of smile. It's like it's like I'm a kid again.
And and the pop you said, the snap on the crack,
Well I was kind of get up. No, no pops,
No pops has no idea? What's a ty shirt? If
I said, do you snap crackle pop? What would you say?
(03:50):
Did someone just tell you that some Rice Crispy treats
right in the little snack packs for a long time? Impressed? Wow,
I type that, Come on, ty, she doesn't know snap
crackle pop. I didn't think he knew that. Impressed. I'm
very impressed. Thank you? Alright, very good. But seriously, who
(04:11):
told you? Okay, hey, one big shocker. Okay, just really quick,
because you know, Bernie Fratto comes up after us from
Vegas and we're gonna go to Vegas for Todd Ferman
in a few minutes, Um, Bernie just texted me, Jason,
the Jets are my number one play of the week.
I'm being completely serious. And he sent me all these
(04:32):
reasons why the Jets was number one play, and I
just kept writing back to him, Zack Wilson, and then
he would say, like three other things, Zach was giving
you a bunch of historical data on the Lions and
doing so though, yes he was, Yes, I was getting
a lot of historical data on the lines because I
mean your other pick, you know when you had in
our upset specials and you took Jacksonville. Well, they're uh
(04:55):
their last twenty games against NFC teams. Yeah, I know
it's okay, but hey, hey, but it was a new
day yesterday, but it's an old day now. I'm a.
I'm a. I'm a big fan of the Jaguars this
week because both look both Dallas and the Eagles are
gonna wind up getting caught looking ahead, right because they
have this they have this huge game on Christmas Eve,
(05:16):
and and they've been talking all week, Michael Parsons going
back and forth with the Eagles and Eagles going back
at Dallas. Both of them are right this week which
is why my upset specials are Jacksonville getting four and
a half and the Bears getting nine and a half.
I like them both on the field. I'm not gonna
turn down the points. But though both teams are ripe
to lose this week, getting into their their showdown next week,
(05:37):
you could just see they're all they're doing is talking
about this game, covering the twenty four and that's gonna
be it, and the Cowboys cann close the gap and
the Eagles can clinch the NFC East. All it is,
all it is, all is, and I like both of
them to lose this week. I like the kind of
your Jim. You're rooting for chaos coming around after all
these years, You're coming along to my chaos theory in
(05:58):
between the white lines. I love it. I love kay.
I love this well. And you and you want Jerry
Jones to have to grip after a loss right given
uh your obsession, I mean you've this has overtaken the
Jones Odell Beckham thing, has overtaken the fever dreams that
you've had about Belichick and Brady. Oh man, I don't
(06:21):
know about that. I'm not even talked about it a
while even though Gronk the other day, I mean buyer
and I did it. I really expected it would show
back up in the timeline here saying hey, they could
all be desirous of a return to form. Yeah he's retiring,
you know, Gronk is like Gronk is like Odell. Hey,
(06:41):
if we make the playoffs, I'll come back. Like that's
the right at this point to where we've also seen
what he can do missing extended periods of time and
come right back in and be a dominant force. Yeah. Sure,
but you know, hey, the Bucks have a couple of
tight ends. I mean, Kate Aton's pretty good, you know,
I mean he's actually can't stay healthy at this point. Yeah,
(07:04):
it's a uh you know, I don't I don't think
the I don't think their problem is all we get
Gronk back. You know, I think if Gronk could be
an inline blocker. Mama, don't let your babies grow up
to be cowboys. Let them be six three The Jason

about amazing learn more discovered dot com slash redeem rewards
terms they do apply. Now, I will say this for
Zach Wilson, Okay, the big story today, He's going to
(07:45):
be the starting quarterback of the Jets on Sunday. I'm
not excited about it. I'm curious. I would say like this,
this is This is what I mean by how not
excited I am, but curious about what it is. It's
this is how I feel about watching Zach Wilson play Sunday.
It's like, I'm if you're playing uh, and you're you're
playing a game of cards and you were are in
it with another person and the betting gets too rich
(08:07):
for you when you fold, right to you fold and
the other person wins. Now, when you fold, the other
person doesn't need to show you their hand. That's where
I am. I'm like, I folded, and I'm curious to
see what their hand was where they bluffing? Could I
have one? But in the end it doesn't matter because
I've lost and I've folded. So that's right, I mean,
why where I'm not excited about it? But I'm just
curious to see Zach Wilson because the big the old.
(08:32):
The best I can say is this is that they
are dying to give the job back to Zach Wilson.
As much as the Jets love Mike White, you can
tell that it was the minute they can give the
job back to Zach Wilson, they're gonna do it because
this is Joe Douglas and Robert Sala being wrong about
the biggest draft pick they had. And where whereas I
wish they could step back and say, dude, you guys
(08:53):
got so many other things right, so many other you
turn the Jets into a really good team in two years,
and you got the draft right with so many other positions.
But but Zack Wilson is because he's the quarterback, and
if you got Zack Wilson wrong, it doesn't matter what
the other picks are. So they are dying to give
him the job back. There they love Mike White, but
you could tell roberts On the way he talks is
(09:15):
dying to give the job back to Zack Wilson if
he has a good game on Sunday against the Lions.
And I don't mean he's got to go for you know,
fifty yards and three touchdowns. But if he throws for
like two and two touchdowns and a pick and the
Jets win, he's keeping the job. He is absolutely keeping
the job, and Mike White will be a break glass
(09:35):
in case emergency quarterback. They are dying to give him
the job back. So for a guy who's it looked
like his future was done in New York because he's
not going to get the job back. Because Mike White
is playing a lot better, there is opportunity for him
to do it. If he plays well, he can win
the job back because the Jets are dying to give
it back to him. Well, and as they should be.
(09:55):
They've got a lot invested, right and if if people
are gonna keep using the train land, oh, they've got
so much invested, he should have the job that I'll
apply it here. I don't necessarily agree with it, but philosophically, organizationally, yeah,
I understand that that logic. Along the way. Mike White
has been exciting when he's been able to play with
(10:16):
Zack Wilson. Certainly you'd love to see him have that moment,
that triumph that redemptives arc. The only penalty paid was
a couple of weeks on the bench and watching his
teammates bored a playing with Mike White jerseys and T shirts,
which is, you know, the kind of a slap in
the face. But you know, sometimes you need to be humbled,
(10:38):
like our buddy the iron cheek would tell you. Right.
But I mean, you've got an opportunity against a pretty
bad defense. As we've laid out here. You've got an
okay front for Detroit, and they've been disruptive. Hutchinson's been
a guy that you smile and say, all right, that
guy is gonna be a stud. But their back seven
has been beatable. Right there, They're one of the worst
(11:01):
scoring defense. I don't care about yards. I'll say this
to Blue in the face. I don't care drive all
you want. Are you scoring on me? How's my red
zone defense looking? Are you settling field goals or in
this day and age, a bunch of fourth down conversion tries? Yeah?
I see what I did there. Uh, So we're we're
looking at the Jets. Yeah, if you're able to move
(11:24):
the ball a bit, and Zach Wilson uh doesn't look
absolutely putred in doing so. Yeah, you're you're looking at
an opportunity for him to reclaim his job and push forward,
and Mike White will be there as he has been,
right because that's what he's been is a break class
in case of emergency guy. That's a role that he
(11:45):
is quite comfortable of coming in when you tap the
arm and bring him in out of the bullpen, and
if they need to then they'll do it. And Robert
Sala has got to be at the point this year,
given what you've had with Zach Wilson, what you've seen
in the shoe work time that White's been back out
there and getting you all excited again, is that you
can go to the well and if you need to
(12:06):
pull up, make the hook and do it, you will
because you gotta think about the team long term. Look,
Zach Wilson's either gonna get it or he doesn't. I
can't worry about his psyche if I have an opportunity
to go to the playoffs. Rarefied air for the New
York Football Jets. Be sure to catch live editions of

Zach Wilson at quarterback, The Jets are Todd's play of
the Year in Vegas. Todd, Hey, that's a lot of
(13:31):
guts on you man. Congratulations and you know what, I
won't make such a guarantee, but I'm a little disappointed.
You guys couldn't welcome me in with a little bit
of Hanakah music. Instead, we gotta go to the Christmas style.
Hanakah starts in two days Christmas. We have a full
eight before we can get excited about all that. But
it's not Hanna Hanaka is Sunday. I mean it goes
on for a crazy nights. That's what I'm staying. But
isn't rolling in yet? Yeah he was going for the
(13:53):
anticipatory Yeah, yeah, exactly. But but all right, let's let's
start here with the low hanging fruit here with your Jets.
I actually do things that they find a way to
win on Sunday, Honestly, as much as it kills me
to say that. Smith, When you look at the way
the market has moved, though, it's been pretty fascinating. The
Jets actually opened up as a full field goal favorite.
You saw Detroit move into the role of being a
short road favorite, and a little bit earlier tonight you
(14:15):
saw money start to coming on the Jets despite the
uncertain status around Quinnon Williams. I think this is a
kind of game where the Jets defense makes a difference,
and as long as Zack Wilson doesn't turn the football over,
the Jets get a big win, moved to eight and six,
and the game stays under the total. Look at you
with that bit with with the big caveat of as
long as Zach Wilson doesn't turn the football over, well,
(14:37):
I didn't see he was gonna go out there and
chuck it around the yard thirty five times until for
three fit it. Maybe a handoff right, handoff left, and
the Jets try and gut out a six three win
like they were unable to do in Foxboro when he
lost his job. See that he gave you some data
to back that up. He wasn't trying to give you
a holiday gift by talking about the Jets, although I'm
(14:59):
answer wounded like it to you in your own uh
warped mind. All right, three games tomorrow, Todd, when we
look at Buffalo Miami, Miami scores seven team back to
back weeks, talk about weather and mcdangle doing everything he
can to get himself hyped up. Whether it's working for
his squad or not, I don't know. Forty three and
a half the total Buffalo with the touchdown favorites. What
(15:22):
is it about? Two thirds money on Buffalo and this
one can to uh get his swag back. Yeah, I
want no part of the Dolphins here plus the seven.
I understand a little bit of the appetite that's out there.
When you talk about a game that could be heavily
impacted by weather, it makes points at a premium, so
it places in extreme value on catching a full touchdown,
(15:43):
giving the level of familiarity between these teams. But I
think you know, as you watch the weather forecast throughout
the course of the day tomorrow, we're going to get
a better indication of lake effects, snow, and if we're
going to have snow, what the winds will look like.
If there isn't mother Nature to contend with, I really
believe this game goes flying over the total. Buffalo's offense
hasn't been explosive lately, and it's as disconcerting as Miami
over the last couple of weeks. The area where I
(16:05):
think Buffalo can make plays is with their defense. You've
seen teams disguise coverages. They're playing a lot more zone.
They're utilizing a too high safety shell against tah And
if you take away the deep ball in the home
run to Tyree Hill, do they have a secondary pitch
that can beat you. I'll pay to find out tomorrow. Um,
But honestly, it's not a game I'm running to beat
knowing that weather could have it. Say you like the
(16:25):
other two games betting tomorrow? Are you're staying away from
those two? You know? I lean more towards the Ravens
at a full field goal. Obviously, we waited all week
to try and figure out who is going to get
the nod under center. Tyler Huntley clear's concussion protocol, and
I think he'll be just fine. Deshaun Watson has looked
like a shell of himself, doesn't have the mobility. Decision
making has been questionable, to say the least. Don't take
that as an open ended question. By the way, when
(16:47):
you look at Cleveland on the football field, they don't
do anything to really stymy where Baltimore wants to attack.
I think the Ravens can run the ball effectively enough
and find a way to get a big road win.
Uh in a game that I do think stays under
the total of the why there plays a role. How
about the starting game Minnesota three and a half point
favorites Indianapolis. We've had our laughs and Saturday on Saturday
(17:07):
and blah blah blah, but one possession games and and
thrilling wins. And I put that in quotes with the Vikings.
But the Colts outside of the blowout loss to the Cowboys,
and they've been in a number of these games, can
they maybe sting one here on the road? You know
they've hung around, and I would lean towards the Colts.
This number has gotten beaten up a little bit, from
(17:29):
four and a half five down to three and a half.
You've seen some under money coming as well, with the
total leaking down to forty seven. I think you know
some of the cosmetics from that game against Dallas. We're
a little bit off obviously, one and nineteen game thirty
three straight points for the Cowboys, and it looks a
lot worse than it really was Minnesota. On the flip side,
it's rare that you find a team sitting at ten
and three that's got a negative point differential on the year.
(17:51):
To put that in perspective, San Francisco sits to ten
and four and their plus one. So clearly the Vikings
have been dancing between the rang drops. Will see how
long that goes. I'm not going to call for the
outright upset, but I'd be very leery of laying points
with the Vikings, as I have some major question marks
about their ability to defend Vegas. Inside a Todd Firm
and our guest to Jason Smiths with Mike Carmen live
(18:11):
from the tire rack dot Com studios. All Right, so
Todd a big bold prediction that I made UH laugh
after last night. Mike and I have gone back and
forth about this for the past UH show and a half.
Brock Purty, one of the starting quarterbacks the NFC Championship
Game Eagles and forty nine is in the NFC Title Game.
What kind of odds do you give me on that.
(18:33):
I wouldn't rule any of that out. When you look
at San Francisco and the kind of complete football team
they've put around Purty. They've really simplified his decision, making
teams undefeated since acquiring Christian McCaffrey, and we saw how
dynamic he can be as a runner and receiver. I mean,
George should all obviously went off in the absence in
Deebo Samuel, but that's the luxury the forty diners are afforded. Now.
They can experiment, they can tanker, they can do a
(18:54):
variety of different things over the next three weeks to
figure out what kind of game plan will allow Brock
Purty to scratch the service and be the quarterback to
take them deep into the NFC. If Jimmy Garoppolo was healthy,
and we have been talking about San Francisco being a
one point favorite on the road in the NFC Championship
against Philadelphia, obviously the Eagles have played significantly better. They're
(19:14):
showing more balance offensively, and they're getting better on the
defensive side. Would you be looking at Philadelphia under a
field goal if that was the NFC Championship this weekend?
Let's grab those Eagles as part of a while apart
lay here just in terms of a question, bold them
in Dallas, little slap fighting in the media this week,
bolt on the road this week, but the look ahead effect,
how real is it? So? Would you would you make
(19:37):
any play towards the Jags plus four of the Bears
plus nine? I want no part of the Bears. I
don't think defensively they can hold up against Philly. I
do think you're going to see some money from professional
betters though it over a touchdown for that letdown fact.
But I think Philadelphia has quietly gone about their business.
They can run the ball effectively, they can throw and
while justin fields to create some problems, let's not ignore
(19:57):
the fact that Philadelphia defends a mobile quarterback every single
day of the week in practice. So I think that
gives him a little bit of a competitive edge. Now,
as far as Dallas and Micah Parsons popping off, I
do think the Cowboys could be a little bit flat
in the spot against the Jacksonville team that's figured out
its offensive identity. Trevor Lawrence isn't turning it over, and
even last week when they weren't able to run it,
they did enough in the passing game. The one thing
(20:18):
about the Jaguars defenses, they're able to stop the run
a little bit. Uh secondary does have you slightly concerned,
But the Cowboys passing game hasn't been anything to write
home about. And I think Micah Parson's comments on the
podcast he did with Von Miller a little bit telling
that he's more banged up when he's got to be
coming off of the line. He's really been a non
factor over the last two weeks, and given the war words,
(20:40):
wouldn't be shocked if he's keeping all of that reserve
energy and store for the meeting against Philadelphia next week,
not ready to pin his ears back and go up
to the Jags on Sunday. Alright, Todd, So outside of
the NFL the big story, what has happened? How much
have the Lakers championship odds improved after beating the Nuggets
tonight without Anthony Davis? Well, I think you mentioned the
(21:02):
key situation that we're gonna have to watch and monitor.
Anytime Anthony Davis leaves the game with a foot injury
or lower broady injury, you assume the worst. And I
figured we'll see him by April. The next time an
NBA team plays a game, it's actually meaningful. Um. But
when you look at the Lakers, obviously they got great
contributions from some of the secondary players out there. I mean,
they're odds to win the NBA Championship had fallen all
(21:23):
the way to a hundred to one. H I'm interested
to see what this team continues to look like going forward.
But if some of the data that's out there, you
love the fact the Miami he put all sixteen players
on their injury report for their game in a neutral
site tomorrow and actually saw a very interesting nugget in
the NBA that if you look at some of the
top players, only of all NBA games played so far
(21:43):
this year feature the top three players from both teams
that are participating. God bless the regular season to the NBA.
It's proven to be absolutely meaningless. James Spite and Mike
Harmony from the Tire dot Com Studios on the hotline
with Hey, Jason was trying to get all chesty with
me because the Knicks beat the Bulls in two straight games. Hey,
(22:07):
I mean, Nick fans haven't had much to claire about
over the last two I don't know what did there
ready five years here? I mean I grew up rooting
for Knicks teams that would lose routinely to Michael Jordan's
the Bulls. So John Starks doesn't get any holiday cards
this time of year for his dreadful performance in Game
seven against the Houston Rockets when I finally thought they
were going to break through at Dodd Ferman is where
you find him on Twitter. Also the Bet the Board
(22:28):
podcast download and give it a listen each and every
week the best analysis, comprehensive work to get you to
the window or to just win the bar bets of
what's going on in the games you're watching, Uh, Sunday
Sunday Sunday. No, it's not a monster truck rally. It's
Argentina versus France over under set a two and a
(22:49):
half goals France plus one eighty. We we add that
some prop bets along the way, Todd, how are we
making this interesting for you? Yeah, it's hard not to
make a case and onto some of the narrative and
the nostalgia about Lionel Messi trying to go out on
top winning that elusive World Cup that puts them alongside
some of the other Argentinian greats at and international soccer
(23:10):
grates in general. I think the biggest fear factory here
for France is the way the virus has kind of
ripped through their camp. They were down one of their
key cogs and Rabbo. In their semifinal matchup. If they
don't get the early goal against Morocco, I think that
game goes very differently. So I think it's Argentina's time
not running to bet them though, because I think when
you look at the odds, you mentioned the three way
price A plus one eighty both ways the right around
(23:31):
to pick them to win the World Cup. I think
those numbers are extremely fair, but at least we have
a ton of star power on full display on Sunday
with two of the best players in the world in
an aging superstar and Messy trying to finish off his
legacy and killing him a bob a trying to really
cement what he's accomplished as the face of the French
national team to two World Cups by the time he's
twenty three. Take back MESSI uh Todd's Twitter at Todd Ferman,
(23:55):
that is at Todd Ferman. Check him out on CBS
at the Board podcast. Todd has always buddy, appreciate your time,
my friend. We'll talk to you after the Jets beat
the Lions. You know what we can do? What we
can I mean, thankfully from Himbo he can win at
the international level because as a member of p s G,
we know you can't even really get to a Champions
League final most as long as the check clears when
you're making a hundred million a year, right, I wouldn't
(24:17):
know a thing about that, gentleman. If I make a
hundred dollars for a week's worth a week's worth of work.
It's always a step in the right direction. Baby steps,
maybe when I can get them all right. Uh, you know,
the funny thing is you you fun and make you
make fun and laugh, fun and laugh and fun and
make laugh. You laugh and make fun. You don't screware
(24:39):
me now Friday and I leave me later. Okay, blank
you m uh you you laugh and make fun. Now
I have to talk really slow and enunciation the excellence
of elocution. You laugh and make fun of the Knicks.
But what did I tell you at the beginning of
the season, They're gonna start out around five hundred because
(25:00):
there's a bunch of new pieces in here. They gotta
figure things out, and Thimodeau's gotta figure out his rotation.
Jalen Brunson is gonna be exactly what the Knicks need,
that steadying star influence a point guard. And then after
the first I said twenty games, but a little bit
longer than that, you're gonna start to see the Knicks
stack wins. Look what they're doing now, stacking wins? Right,
(25:21):
they got six in a row. They figured out the rotation.
You're seeing guys play. Derrick Rose got to play in
the final minute tonight and Chicago went crazy after you
hit the three. So they have figured out who they
want to play and where they are going forward. The
Knicks have figured it out. Watched and it's gonna be
a lot like it was two years ago. Not last year,
but two years ago for the Knicks. Julius Randall is
(25:42):
bought back in Jalen Brunson is a huge deal. M
vv Jalen Brunson. I told you about the Knicks and
here they come. Nice the long road to the ship.
Mm hmmmmmm. Getting ready. Let's go Knicks in the final thing.
But that Nicks in the finals. Be sure to catch
live and isitions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. You
(26:06):
haven't found a way to make a Christmas mash up
of this yet? Tight shirt? I'm disappointed? Oh I do
I have two? Ready? Really? Why why don't we You
know Christmas is coming? You know it's here? What do
you what are you waiting for? It? Here? West Christmas today?
Need I got it? Are you gonna play it? No? Why?
Because you're your Monday. You'd be the worst program director
(26:29):
in the world. Play hit songs. No people are expecting
to play hit songs. We're gonna play songs no one's
heard of. We're gonna have a great radio stage. I'll
play them all Monday. J how about that. I'm not
working on Monday. Perfect, you gotta play him on Tuesday.
No one day is better. No, no, no, no, Tuesday,
we gotta play. We'll save all the Zach Wilson interceptions
for Tuesday. You get one good mash up for me though,
(26:50):
since I'm I'm departing for the holiday holiday holiday, do
you have one good one that you can torment Smith
with from running up the Hill? Yeah? Yeah, we pull
it out or I mean, you know whatever, whatever you've concocted.
I mean it's it's fine. From my laptop, It's really
more just a torment Smith. I was playing Fortnite on
(27:12):
my laptop, but I don't have that open. No, no,
we don't. Okay, that escalated quickly. Yeah, yeah, I'll be
filled the animals. Yeah, jerk, all of you blank you
blank you blank you holiday holiday. So the Lakers have
(27:32):
their signature win of the year tonight, right. They beat
up on the Nuggets one to one oh eight. Lebron
has a huge night. They has a big night from
the supporting cast as well. Austin Reeves is big off
the bench. He goes for sixteen. Russell Westbrook's got a
triple double off the bench. Now A D gets hurt.
He leaves the game in the first half. It looked
like he came down awkward on his right foot. But
(27:54):
he did play for a few more minutes. And it
doesn't seem like it's anything really bad. None of that
could change an official diagnosis, but A D looked like,
hey was more precautionary. Let's keep him out here. Um,
this is what the Lakers have done, and I'll tell
you this going forward. Now, the Lakers are gonna make
a big trade. They guarantee you they will make a
(28:15):
big trade because Lebron and a D buying back into
this team. You know, they started two and eleven and
I think and you looked at it and thought, well,
A D is just gonna keep showing up and going
through the motions. Lebron doesn't really care. He's unplugged. This
team is not any good. They decided to buy back in.
It's the reason why the Lakers are playing well because
Lebron and a D decided to buy back in and
(28:37):
now the Lakers haven't been great, but because they started
so bad. Oh there's seven and five in the last
twelve and okay, yeah, that's nice. Right, It's not like
the Lakers are great. The Lakers are a little bit
better and the West looks like it's a lot more competitive.
And that's a big that's a big part of this
is that this is not you got two teams at
the top running away with things. It's okay, memphisis in
(28:58):
first place. Remember I told you Memphis is going to
the finals this year. Memphis is there. New Orleans is there,
all right, teams are in third and fourth place are
only a couple of games over five hundred. So the
West is there. So those things you put them all
into into uh, into the hopper. The Lakers are gonna
be forced to make a trade. Lebron and a D
playing this well is gonna force the Lakers to make
(29:19):
a move to get somebody big. And I saw reports
on Sports Illustrated today that they could be interested in
Kevin Durant or Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal if they
become available. But they're gonna make a big move The
thing is, they only have one bullet to fire. They
only they don't have a lot of assets. They're gonna
keep Westbrook because coming off the bench, Westbrook has been better, right,
(29:41):
he's been good. He's I don't know how happy is
in the role, but he's been playing a little bit better.
So they're gonna wind up keeping him. They still have
some guys they can move in a draft pick, so
they will make one, but it's it may not be
right away because again, when you only have one bullet
to fire, you gotta make sure it's the right deal.
So I I don't expect this to in the next
couple of days. Um As as we're looking at the
(30:03):
finally the trade um restrictions are done for players who
signed contracts. I think it's gonna take a little bit longer,
but the Lakers will make that big trade because Lebron
and a DA forced them to make a trade to
try to make the team better. Yeah. I like that,
but we have to put a pin in it because
we have no idea what that baseline move meant. Just saying, Buddy,
I I like your excitement that they're going to make
(30:25):
a big move. It's the question of what it is
because you read the rewards this week. It is all
about Russell Westbrook sticking around because he has bought into
the rule. When people feel better about him out there substantively.
I don't know how much better he's truly been from
a metrics standpoint, and you go the deep dive of
the analytics and coefficients on the different variables and what
(30:46):
he's meant overall, But aesthetically it's been more pleasing. I
can give you that people feel better about him out there,
But you had the best that you can get from
a D and lebron during this stretch. You're above five hundred,
you'll take it, but you just lost four or five
and narrow loss to Boston the overtime loss. After the collapse,
(31:08):
you're feeling really good and then you hit the lowest
of lows and then you come back out of it
and everybody's sullen over misfree throws and opportunities. Now now
the question is moving forward, how hurt is Anthony Davis
and which parts are truly those that are coveted, because
remember it's all got to make dollars and cents when
we get into these trades in the NBA. Given the
(31:30):
need to have things within a percentage. They'll do they'll
do something big. They will have they have no choice.
But two yeahs. Contract isn't there anymore? A D is
a big deal, I will tell you. But it seems
like it seems like he's okay and the fact that
the guy kept playing and came out in the Lakers.
But it could be a bruise. It could be general
sore nous. Maybe he's General Soreness. I think that that's
(31:53):
a pretty good character. Name, Hi, who are you? I'm
General Soreness. I had to give it my best. How
I met your mother? There was one of those General Soreness. Uh.
The Jason Smiths with Mike Carmen Live the tirerac dot
Com Studio. So yeah, watch the Lakers. They're gonna make
that big move. Uh. Let's finish with a flourish and
I give your upset special picture this weekend in the NFL,
and both my picks have a commonality between them. First pick,
(32:17):
give me the Jaguars getting four and a half over Dallas.
I will take Jacksonville on the field. As long as
Trevor Lawrence plays, they'll core score a couple of touchdowns
early Dallas is ripe for a loss. They're looking ahead
to next week. They're already playing the bulletin board games
with the Eagles and the Jaguars offense has come alive.
Trevor Lawrence has been terrific. He won the game all
(32:39):
by himself last week. Give me the Jags over the Cowboys.
All right, first one for me. I'm gonna take the
Patriots narrow, one and a half point dogs, but dogs
on the last on the road at Las Vegas. Looking
at Mac Jones and that offense. Whoever's the running back
in pick one? If you do it for fantasy purposes, um,
shame on you. The other guy's gonna get the points.
But Mac Jones looking comfortable, and that defense will do
(33:02):
just enough to terrorize Derek Carr. Give me Mike Harmon
Chicago Bears getting nine and a half over the Eagles again,
Eagles looking ahead. Justin Fields has played fantastic. He'll run
for over a hundred yards. Philadelphia is gonna get caught
and watch the Bears. I like the Bears on the
(33:23):
field in a close game. I don't see a lot
of points. Some some punditive said, oh so many points.
Not a lot of points. Give me the Bears nineteen seventeen,
but I'll still take the night and a half point.
There you go. I'm gonna take the Riddler plus four
on the road. Yes, he's gonna Desmond Ritter is gonna
channel everything that Gorgian ever had, including a celebration in
(33:45):
the end zone where he giggles like a madman. Plus
four on the road at New Orleans, Lattimore's banged up
defense is struggled all year. I'll take Atlanta and that
run game. Twitter and out about a Fresca Mike gets
swollen dome. There are upsets, special picks for the weekend
in the National Football League. Our best of podcasts goes
