(00:24):
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greatings. Welcome in final
hour of the program tonight from the tire Act dot
com studios, Mike Harmon alongside Chris Blank No Jason Smith
this week, often gallivanting around watching Bowl games, probably watching

(00:45):
more of the Harry Potter series and quizzing his family
and all of those kind of fun things. Welcome in.
We've got a score in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl closer
now twelve fifty seven, remaining as Oklahoma's date. Uh in
the grasp Once upon a time, shovel pass touchdown on

(01:06):
fourth down. Look at the creativity of offensive coordinator Casey Done. Alright,
it was that, really, the creativity versus the desperation play
of a quarter fack. I so much sarcasting because Casey
Don gets crushed for being a terrible offensive coordinator. Oklahoma State,
a place that's had names like Jeff Monkin and Dana Holgersson,
and they have this disaster calling plays for him. Literally,

(01:29):
a true freshman bailed him out on fourth and goal.
That's not an Oklahoma Sooners guy at all twelve and
knows what's going on. I would say this, Um, I
think we should we should have open lines tonight. What
finishes first? Our show or this game that, for some
ungodly reason kicked off at nine o'clock Central time. Poor

(01:50):
Oklahoma State fans, some of them probably stuck in airports, Mike,
that missed their connections and things of that nature. Uh,
and they're having to watch this until one in the
morning maybe maybe Central time. And it's just ugly. But
you're makes it a little bit more interested. But if
you're stuck in an airport, you're at least got something
to pass the time with. That's true, right, Not that

(02:11):
you couldn't play Heads Up or myriad games on your phone.
Well at some point you're bad. Well no, no, no, no,
it's not like the airport's don't have powers. Sorry, or
they'll you'll find a place to charge you to charge
your phone. Dollars to charge my phone right now, that's
where you gotta you gotta have the hook up with
the bartender at the airport bar or whatever it's like

(02:32):
I can use. I'll tip you really well at the
end of my my run here. Uh and maybe that works,
maybe it doesn't. Earlier on and I made my joke,
I was really saddened that you guys don't know the
all these songs and characters of Robin Hood, the animated
feature from Disney from the early seventies. But the Coastal

(02:52):
Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall, three times Sun Belt Conference Player
of the Year, left. He's in the transfer portal. But
he got injured in the game. Yea, that right, so
he and he went hockey went. Asked to describe, it's
an upper body injury, is what Chad Stags, the interim coach,
said afterwards. He went full hockey. He wouldn't go specifically,

(03:15):
he went upper body. So that that's problematic, man, if
you're going to just generalization. I normally get a little
bit cringe e uh and nervous when I see things
like that. Yeah, and and it's it's interesting because we
sit here and I think for the most part. In
the college football world and in the sports world, we
understand optouts. I'll never understand opting out of a bowl

(03:37):
game whenever you're a third day pick. But I get
you want to be healthy and maybe start working out.
But here's a guy that's not necessarily looking at the NFL, Mike,
here's a guy that's looking at going to another college.
Is coach left, He's going to Liberty, So you know,
he's got an opportunity to go somewhere else in play,
and what happens he gets hurt? So how does that
affect that going forward? How serious is this quote unquote

(03:59):
upper body injury? So it's you know, I bring up
the opting out thing because something like this go back
to Matt Kraal last year. Everyone always talks about Jaln
Smith and why why am I blanket on the Miami
running back that still ended up being a first round pick.
But yeah, I just I think unfortunately, it might leave
more of these guys who are in the portal and

(04:21):
maybe still waiting to go to the new school. And
I'm not gonna play in this game. I'm I'm not
gonna take that risk. You see something like this and
it kind of scares guys away from still playing in
Bowl geates, But hopefully it's not that severe and he'll
still be good to go for the offseason and into
the season because he has the potential to be pretty good.
Were you going all the way back to Willis mcgahey,
Willis mcgahey, exactly how long ago is that? Everything to

(04:44):
me is like two or three years ago. I was
just a couple of years ago. Uh, what is that
that's going all the way back to like two thousand two?
Is that pre hd? Oh my gosh, it is look
at you And that's the thing that makes me so
two thousand and three fiestable National Championship Game. So anything
that's pre h D they make it look like it

(05:06):
was shot on film and it was from like the
nineteen thirties, Like whoa, whoa, this was big time viewing
for us back This was crystal clear. And look how
fast they all were just like running around the basis right, Yeah,
I got fast forward on everything. But yeah, so I
hope and again, Grace and McCall not necessarily up there
with the Willis mcgaheyes and the Jaylex Smiths to the world.

(05:27):
Probably not a first day, our second day pick and
not looking at the NFL. But I hope this doesn't
accelerate opt outs in a handful of these games that
are coming up Tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. Yeah, I think
it's just from the the individual players, like you gotta
be true to yourself. Obviously, you got teammates, family, coaches
and everybody to consider. We know, with the bowl games

(05:50):
that aren't you know whatever, uh, and the pecking order.
We could rank all the bowl games if you want to. UH,
that's another way to get kill showtime if you want
during the alladay is which is the most important of
these bowls, and include the guaranteed rate uh and all
of those. But you've got to figure out what what
that means right for the program, for your future, et cetera.

(06:13):
I don't blame any of the guys, whether they're going
to the NFL or looking to transfer colleges. You know,
it's going back to a little bit at the to
a conversation we were having last hour Chris of there's
so many different permutations and considerations to it all. UH,
And the fact that you're in the portal and you
play in this game is kind of curious to me right.

(06:34):
That's the thing that's curious, like whether how what kind
of cell job did you have to do to go play? Hey,
you know what, I'm in the portal and I'm leaving you,
but damn it, I want to play in this Bowl game.
Are you not getting the offers that you want? So
you need to go out there and say, well, well,
don't forget about me. I'm gonna go ahead. Put on
considering the number of guys that went into the portal, right,

(06:54):
because we had Heartman go in earlier today, so you
got that going is leaving Fox after all these years.
Sam Hartman, the wake Forest quarterback, is who we're talking about.
It looks like he might be on his way to
Notre Dame. It's kind of wild when you think about
the transfer portal. There's been four hundred names inner so far,
one thousand, four hundred sixty to be exact, and still

(07:16):
only five hundred and seven have committed. Now there's more
names than that. Those are just the scholarship players that
are in there right now. But Mike, only thirty five
percent of those players have found a new home. So
jumping in there again, I know this isn't a massive
topic on the night when we have to uh And
and Hackett and Russell Wilson conversations. But still it is

(07:37):
wild to see just how greener pastors aren't always there
for you in college football, all right, everybody tries to
go into a situation. We certainly had the old man approach,
old coach philosophy and you know, the rub the dirt
on it kind of thing of hey, why are you
running away from the situation. It's like, well, because you
might be able to go place somewhere else that is

(07:58):
a better situation than you're facing. Not necessarily you're running
away from a competition, like you think maybe you can
go to more visibility. Right, It's like, again, I don't
mean to lean on the the harm in Northwestern Wildcats squad,
but the number of guys who just decided, all right,
Northwestern good school. I've gotten a lot from it. But

(08:18):
I can go play at insert better school here, whether
it be in the Big Ten, go to the SEC
whatever else, or where guys have decided, you know what,
I'll put my my hat into the ring for the
the NFL draft of just saying all right, I don't
see us turning it around and becoming a winning program
here in the immediate future, and maybe you know lightning

(08:41):
strikes and they do. But yeah, I can't fault anybody
for just saying, hey, there there might be the opportunity.
Now you recognize and this goes to anything in life, right,
any decision you make, any job opportunity that comes up,
you weigh the pros and cons and hope that you
figured though as and factor those correctly in your decision

(09:02):
making process and guess what, oftentimes not as you cite
the stat And that's that's a lot of guys that
are are now disappointed and and left either with an
end to a career or now they they go tail
tucked and become a backup and they wait that last

(09:23):
possibility of glory based on injury or other guys opting
out and opening a spot back up. Yeah, it's I
don't know how coaches do it, Mike, and I don't
know if there's a fix, but it's not going anywhere.
It's one of my bosses used to say, the toothpaste
is out of the tube and it's not gonna change.
There's now two different times when you can get in

(09:44):
the portal after the season and then after spring ball.
But I don't think guys are are are gals right,
because you're talking about softball, basketball too. I don't think
they're suddenly going to change and think that they can't
improve their inn I L deals or or their outlook,
or they're playing time by going somewhere else. I just
I don't think this is going anywhere. I think it
gives us another kind of phase of the off season

(10:06):
of college sports, because now you have the free agency
phase of college sports. Three baby, just keep the machine
going here, Yeah, sports radio, sports television, let's go as
we are broadcasting live from the tire act dot Com studios.
Tire act dot Com will help you get there, an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and

(10:26):
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire act dot Com the
way tire buying should be. And we're watching the Bowl
game right Guaranteed Rate Bowl continues on. We had one
earlier full night of the NBA, but the NFL on
our brains and and we'll get back into the Chargers
making the playoffs here and some of the postgame quotes

(10:48):
coming out of Brandon Staley as we look at this
squad and the a f C playoff picture. But we'd
be remiss if we didn't give another nod to Luca
don che It's and the night that was when he
needed to recovery beer in his post game uh conference,
you know, as he did a little bit of a
postgame interview sixty one in ten as the Mavericks come

(11:11):
from behind at home to stun the New York Knicks
in overtime, the last second shot the heroics, And really
when we look at moments for the NBA to kind
of tip off, well, Christmas Day didn't do it because
we were spending too much time watching fans get slimed

(11:31):
as the Rams ran all over the Denver Broncos and
Russell Wilson with his three interceptions, eventually Nathaniel Hackett saying, ah,
we just weren't ready. What does that mean? So Rams,
wait sixteen? What do you mean You're not ready? And
he was summarily fired shortly thereafter. But the NFL games,

(11:52):
even the Sunday night affair, I know you and Arnie
were on during that barn burner between the Cardinals and
the Buccaneers. I mean that just crushed anything going on
ratings wise, and just buzz from the Christmas Day games.
So this becomes I think the unofficial jumping off point
for the NBA season. Not that we haven't had some
great moments, some great stories and things we've followed through

(12:15):
the first two months. We look at the nets and
the run there on saying hey, we're just about playing
basketball right now. So all's good and all's right with
the world. We'll see how that hourglass how much sand
is in there before the next adventure under Jacque Vaughan.
But for for the night, I mean, Luca did something
that we we had him in rarefied air with Wilt

(12:38):
and and some of the legends and Elgin Baylor, and
now he stands alone with this ridiculous stat line. It's amazing,
isn't it, I mean, and so unexpected. And not not
that we didn't think Luka Donks could do incredible things, right,
not that we didn't think that Luca could go out
and and and put forward a solid proof Warman's right.

(13:01):
But just look at where this game was, look at
where the Dallas Mavericks were, and and we we've joked about, uh,
is this the greatest performance in the history of of
of matchups against the New York Knicks. But the Mavericks
were down one twelve to one oh three with thirty
three seconds left in the game, nine points with thirty

(13:21):
three seconds left in the game, nine point out of
ten times. Mike Carman, I'm grabbing the girls, grabbing my son.
It's like, let's go. Uh, time to start getting ready
to go to the car. Maybe watching a few free
throws as we're walking up the stairs and leaving the game.
But this would have been a massive mistake because some somehow,
some way history happened tonight. And I agree, I agree

(13:45):
with Justin all right. I agree it is the Knicks.
She kind of have to give that little caveat to it.
They find a way, don't they find Ah too soon? No, No,
it's not too soon. They suck. It's not even fair. Uh,
sixty one in ten has never been done. And how
about the stat of months they had Teams were oh
and thirteen thousand, eight hundred and eighty four in the

(14:08):
last twenty seconds when trailing by at least nine points,
nine points with thirty five or fr last twenty seasons.
Excuse me, when trailing by at least nine over the
last thirty five seconds, And Luca and the Mavericks just
got the first win during that stretch thirteen thousand, eight
hundred and eighty four beyond just the history of sixty

(14:31):
twenty and ten having never happened. How about that kind
of history, Mike, that's just incredible. Well, that's like winning
the lottery. I heard a great story of a white elephant.
Uh go around with a bunch of office workers. That
will get to before the end of the hour, because
you want to talk about holiday exchanges and winning. But
that's like winning the lottery. And that's what you got
from Luca Tonight. As we continue, we'll get into the

(14:52):
Chargers heading into the playoffs and what to do with
those final two games for Derek Carr and your laws
Vegas Raiders. But a reminder that tire act dot com

live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. Welcome back
in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with Me Mike

(16:18):
Carmen from the tire act dot Com Studios. No Smith Tonight,
Chris plank In. Instead, we got ourselves a game now
Oklahoma State thirteen plays sixty nine yards, six minutes off
the clock field goal from Tanner Brown. They can't convert
in the red zone seventeen. That's all we could ask for, right,

(16:44):
competitiveness football on a baseball field. What could be better
in the middle of the final week of three, Mike
than the oh I was at cheese At Bowl, the
Guaranteed Rate Bowl live from the home of the Arizona
Diamondbacks between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Wisconsin Badgers.

(17:05):
It's everything we could want. I mean, I mean, did
they fix the cleat situation that someone alert them that
we were talking about it on national radio. Yeah, I
probably don't think they got that memo. But whatever happened,
whatever happened, oklone. I think Wisconsin's kind of resting on
their laurels a little bit. But you know, Oklahoma State
has got the football back, freshman quarterbacks playing pretty well. Uh,

(17:28):
this is a team that's trying not to finish seven
and six on the season and completely implode down the stretch.
See a guy like Brock Martin who's playing in his
last game as an Oklahoma State Cowboys. So this fun man.
I I like having a Bowl game in the middle
of this show usually whenever we get to this point
Mike on Sunday nights and obviously when you guys are
here Monday through Friday with Jason. Uh, it might be

(17:48):
what a late baseball game that's gone extra innings, maybe
a Dodgers game, or uh during the football season. Gosh,
not too much, so let's go. The second half of
the show usually is the recap, reaction and uh handwringing
portion for one side or the other of what went
wrong in a given game. Yesterday, everything went wrong for

(18:12):
the Indianapolis Colts. We've already talked about earth Say and Ballard,
who got the dreaded vote of confidence. Nick Foles will
be their quarterback for their final two games. Yea. Uh,
find the podcast wherever you get your audio download and
give it five stars. Will love you forever and ever.
Remember holidays are still going on. You put that link

(18:32):
in there. Show people how to download the app. Maybe
you've got family members that just don't know how to
do it, and how to get the goodness that is
Fox Sports Radio. This is a gift that will cost
you just a little bit of your time and patience
to get that installed on their devices, and it's a
gift that keeps giving. It's like a Ham of the
Month club, uh with audio. So we look at the

(18:54):
Chargers on the other side of things. First playoff birth
since Staley gets to give Banos a game ball, and
for Stanley it's like, hey, it's just the beginning. Went
on to do the platitudes of hey, we we get
played two really good teams to finish things out. All right,
we can debate that you got the Rams on New

(19:14):
Year's Day in so five, so fun time. Maybe I'll
traverse down there in the afternoon go watch that game
live and in living color. Uh. And then and then
January is on the road at Denver, who just fired
their coach and elevated their clock management and game operator

(19:35):
assistant who came in in week three. But you got
an opportunity now to to finish on a potentially a
five game winning streak. You've got eight games this year
where they've allowed twenty or fewer points, and that's without
Derwin James a couple of games. And then he got
ejected from yesterday's game, but was still in the locker
room with the Santa Hatan celebrating. So uh be fine,

(19:57):
big vicious hit and then you know a lot of debate,
and I'm sure you and Arnie did some of that
in real time of dirty ejection, worthy suspension were the
all of those fun things. We'll see what the league
has to say, and and whether he gets the pink
envelope beyond what the ejection that he got, what the
size of that check would be. But boses returning to practice.

(20:22):
He's been gone this whole time. So you get him
back down the stretch and slater my guy again. Gratuitous
Northwestern run your Pro Bowl offensive lineman where you've had
struggles running the ball and at times Justin Herbert the
clock ticks pretty fast, uh, and making him get the
ball out. You got Williams and Alan back, Alan with

(20:44):
a big night last night. That suddenly the Chargers with
Justin Herbert, who's been dismissed by some that we chuckle about,
like just watch some football. Uh, the guy can make plays.
And now everything's churning in the right direction as we
get towards the playoffs here, plank and and the a
f C West represented pretty well here in the playoffs,

(21:08):
not as well as maybe we thought heading into the
season with the implosion of the Raiders and the Broncos.
But did you really think the Raiders were gonna be
good though? Yeah? I absolutely didn't. Um, I thought that
they were going to be better than six and nine
at this point in the season. And I mean, just
look at how many type games they've been in this year.
Well they won all those last year, so they kind
of even its way out, Like the Vikings got those

(21:29):
wins this year, that's right, and they didn't get him
last year. So you know, the the universe football gods
decided to push them over towards O'Connell. Yeah. Uh, And
so Kevin Kevin gets his wins, Kirk gets his shine. Meanwhile,
Derek Carr is gone, and we all believe that Josh
McDaniels is going to fix all this for the Raiders.
But I you do know, I am no, not me,

(21:51):
the the guy that with the funky haircut that cuts
the checks feels like he is. I am a firm
believer in the Chargers. And and there's a couple of
reasons why. Yes, I know they struggle running the football consistently,
uh and into a certain extent, stopping the run. But
I and again I'm not just I'm not kissing up
to to Frostbury tonight. I'm not a promise, but I

(22:11):
just feel like when you get a guy like Justin
Herbert that can make place, and when you have an
offensive line that's starting to get healthier, and when you
get back, as you mentioned what you called Joey Bosa
like the YETI it's like, ey way is he there? Oh?
I see Joey Bosa. Look at Sasquat, she's gonna play.
We saw him a lot on the sidelines. That's able
to find him. We said it over on sideline shots

(22:32):
on him two weeks ago. But I am I'm a
big believer in seeing this kind of career rejuvenation for
klil Mac. I'm a little bit concerned about Derwin james injury. Now,
Uh you understand that that was I know we don't
necessarily say targeting in the National Football League, but that
was the definition of what the NFL and in college
football is trying to get rid of. In what Derwin

(22:53):
James did. What I was more concerned about my man
was knocked out after he took and that's the thing.
More should have been put on the quarterback for really
a terrible decision to throw the ball there. Yeah, I mean, well,
I was talking about Rowin James to watch him whenever
he's trying to get up Holy So yeah, he went
straight to the tent. So that's where he found out

(23:13):
he'd got ejected. I like Derwin James. I like what
they've done in their secondary. But here's the thing. You know,
something weird always happens down the stretch in the a
f C. And I'm a firm believer that, you know,
someone like Cincinnati is gonna end up with a one seed,
like they're gonna be Buffalo and somehow there'll be a
they'll way a tumble from Kansas City. Do you remember

(23:35):
the one seed was the f C last year? Anybody, anybody?
It was Tennessee And what happened in their first game?
They played it all they're the Titans. They lost their
Ryan Tannel. So my point is, you know, weird things
happen in the a f C whenever it comes to
that one seed. So to me, bottom line, more than
anything else, I'm a firm believer that the Chargers can

(23:56):
be anyone they play and listen, they're only a game
out of that five seed. You get that five seat
and you're going to Jacksonville in the first round. Feel
pretty good about that's. That's that's might be one of
the most fun matchups we could possibly see each right,
especially the way Jacksonville has been playing of late and
Trevor Lawrence meshing with his head coach and more and

(24:18):
more dirty laundry being heard from what happened last year.
But we we look at what Peterson has been able
to do, and Travis E. T N has been fantastic
receiving Corps different heroes at different times. Evan Ingram has
become that guy that we anticipated for years with the
Giants and the guy they wanted him to be and

(24:40):
you'd see in flashes, so him Za Jones, former Raider
uh coming up with some big efforts. Christian Kirk, who
folks mocked the contract, like sometimes you got overpay to
get folks to come play at your party. Yeah, I
don't really want to. I don't want to do that.
It's like, come on, they'll be they'll they'll be really
good food. All right, maybe I'll stop by the same

(25:01):
thing here, all right, you want to go to Jacksonville,
not really, Hey, they're gonna pay you this much more,
sure I'll become that by well, the other was, and
it goes. I've been saying this all year, but you know,
new new audience every every night, and obviously maybe you
haven't heard this one. It's like with Christian kirk. Oh,
he hasn't had a thousand yards season. He had nine
or a two. Now we're quibbling. I get it. If

(25:26):
that's an incentive, then you go back to the old rule.
Now you didn't get to a thousand, but in this case,
you know, using that as the deciding line of whether
whether the guy's worthy of a contract or not is assinine.
And in the end, it's not your money. If you
didn't get a thousand yards and he had like three hundred,
then we could have a conversation whatever he was eighteen
yards short of it. I think you need a chill.

(25:48):
I think we're good. I think we're good with that.
But yeah, the charge charges are an interesting squad. Jaguars
are fun bangles. I'm afraid of the Lyle Collins injury
a bit right, just like we we were talking with
Locking Florida in the first hour of the show. Like
that Lane Johnson injury on the NFC side looms large
for the Eagles. I'm just wondering with with the Bengals

(26:11):
playing great defensively, uh and and I don't think it
gets enough. I know Andy Furman was on earlier with
Rob Parker uh and, and we talked about the Bengals
a bunch on our Sunday morning show. Uh and the
defensive side making sure they get their credit, because let's
face it, the offense has enough sexy names the Fantasy
Football World and Joe Burrow to help run things, but

(26:33):
offensive line was a problem to start the season as
guys were starting to gel and this is the time
you need guys the cohesion and health and for both
those squads, both the Bengals and the Eagles, those are
two potentially huge holes that that creep up right as
you're finishing the regular season. Mm hm m hmm. I

(26:53):
got crushed last week for saying that I thought the
Bengals were rolling down the home stretch of the season,
and then I conveniently got crushed for saying that I
think that the Chiefs are rolling down the home stretch.
So I don't know what to believe in the NFL
one nine of their yeah, yeah, and then they're all

(27:14):
lost to Baltimore. I was informed that it was smoking mirrors.
And then when I brought up Kansas City and how
well they're playing, I was informed that that was merely
just a one man team. Don't care, they're gonna be
a problem whenever comes to the playoffs. That's the bottom line,
that one guy can mess you up, right, I mean
that's the comeback. And you have you ever seen the

(27:34):
movie Beautiful Girls. I don't think I haven't seen it. Yeah,
so high school reunion. They come back to the hometown.
Timothy Hutton's the protagonist, right, he's piano player working in
bars and clubs in New York, comes home to the
small town. You got an all star cast, but but
at one point you've got you know, some of the
stereotype characters. You know, this guy that never gets out

(27:57):
and he was the bully. Uh and one of the
starts yelling it's like, yeah, the legends dead whatever, and
the other guy in terms of goes, hey, the legend
could still mess you up now, FCC compliancy. I changed
the mess you up part. But it's that's that same idea,
right of Yeah, you can say it's a one man show.
That one man show has had a hell of a

(28:17):
run this year live for the tire act dot Com
Studios Mike Carmen alongside Chris Plank Jason Smith off this week.
He'll be back to start the new year, and uh,
we'll run a buck as we do. But we're gonna
close out the show with a little more of the
National Football League, recap some of the big stories that
we've had over the course of the night, and let

(28:40):
Chris give us a couple of things we should be
watching out for this Bowl season. As this week goes on,
be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Hey, this is Jason McIntyre. Joined me every
weekday morning on my podcast Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.

(29:01):
This isn't your typical sports pod pushing the same tired
narratives down your throat every day. Straight Fire gives you
honest opinions on all the biggest sports headlines, accurate stats
to help you win big at the sports book, and
all the best guests. Do yourself a favor and listen
to Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre on the I Heart
Radio app Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.

(29:28):
Welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Spitz Show and
made Mike Harmon. No Jason Smith this week off on vacation,
gallivanting across our great landscape. Perhaps you'll find him sitting
down and partaking of a big mac Adam McDonald's near you,
running joke like, I mean, that's McDonald's guy obsessively. Oh yeah,

(29:53):
does he care about us? How well? A couple of
weeks ago there was a report of a new gaming
chair you can have that was all brand whatever. It
was the first time you got excited about video games.
And I'm not gonna lie. I love me some McDonald's,
but I mean, you got to minimize. That's just it.
You know what what especially once you become men of
a or women of a certain age, right right, you

(30:14):
got you gotta you know, train, say your prayers, eat
your vitamins, just like the Holster said all those years ago.
That's right. Keep away from some of the items that
those guys were all allegedly on. Well the whole comaniacs.
They weren't. They weren't fake. Those were real what he
was taking. But so I know, I'm saying so and
you say Big Mac is his his burger of choice

(30:35):
with the extra sauce and extra cheese. All right, I'm bringing, sorry,
the most overrated thing on the McDonald's menu, the Big Mac. Sorry,
don't know how, don't know why. There's more beef and
a quarter pounder. If you want to get really fat,
go with the double. But I've never understood the Big Mac.
Mike makes it's thousand island dressing. Okay, pour thousand dressing
on something. Jason Smith, let's go Gosh, you've just ruined

(31:00):
his his now he knows, he knows he knew it.
But um, you know it's funny you talk about traveling
and how everyone's stuck. Shout out to those who are
are scratching and clawing right now. Southwest has had all
kinds of issues. There's been weather issues all over the country.
Some of you have been lucky enough to have that
magical iHeart Radio app downloaded, so you've been able to

(31:21):
listen to us tonight while you might be stuck in
an airpoint talking about college football bowl games. That's right.
Maybe you were trying to get to a college football
Maybe I know this. I have a bunch of friends
of mine Mike, that are supposed to fly out tomorrow morning.
Guess what They just found out their flights canceled to
go to a bowl game. So they're gonna be scratching

(31:44):
and claw to try to get to Orlando by Southwest
or was that another a little bit of everything? Okay,
because I gotta make sure that we know that. You know,
it's been a lot of airlines. Southwest is wearing the
majority of it at this point. But overall, as you
were saying, though, but thank you to those that are
on the roads that are getting us two and to

(32:05):
what we need right and and from where we need
to go, and who keep on the roads trucking things
and good services all that kind of stuff. We we
appreciate you be safe out there and smart. But yeah,
to your point, travel staff foos, I know Dan and
Aaron we're talking about it earlier. I saw it tweeted
about travel nightmares of the last week. I can only

(32:28):
imagine if and go back and listen to the podcast
off that I I had. The travel gods were with me,
uh for my sojourn to go see my folks. So
I was blessed, But um, I take none of it
for granted. Man flight delays, cancelations, particularly the ones with
little to no notice. Uh, getting stuck in places for

(32:48):
days at a time. It's it is no good for anybody.
As we get into the Bowl schedule a couple of
games today tomorrow we've got games. Uh what it's starting
at eleven am as we have Duke and Central Florida
get started, Oregon, North Carolina, Texas Tech and Old miss
and and and we rolled through from there. Uh, Chris,

(33:10):
it's a it's a fun time of year with so
much activity. And I always celebrate the the first couple
of weeks of the Major League Baseball season because we
have Dave Baseball. You get Dave Football, right, I like
Dave Football Day Baseball anytime you can give me stuff
when you know, and you mentioned Law and Order reruns whatever,
Like you're gonna go to the gym. You're on a treadmill,

(33:30):
a lot easier to watch a game there. You know,
A couple of things on the games tomorrow to that
are worth keeping an eye on. Kansas and Arkansas are
playing in Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. Memphis has had
all kinds of weather issues there in the middle of
a mandated water boil um as somebody who grew up
in a city where, for some reason mom was always
having a boil water because pipes burst in It's been

(33:52):
a disaster in Memphis. But by God, Mike Carmen, Kansas
is playing in a bowl game, so you must celebrate it.
And when you're in Memphis, a barbecue Oregon North Carolina
is gonna be fascinating. Have Drake May versus bo Nix
now that we know bo Nicks is coming back. And
I don't know what to make of Texas Tech and
Old Miss kind of feel like Texas Tech is in that. Hey,
we made a bowl game more happy Old Miss. Maybe

(34:14):
a little bit pulling back on it because the injury
last year to Matt Corrall, But that's up to me.
And I'm a college football nerd. I live it, love it,
I love I couldn't get enough of it. I think
tomorrow it's one of the sneaky better days of bowl games. Thursday,
Well we'll see. I mean, I'm I'm not gonna sit
here and try to tell you that Oklahoma is gonna
upset Florida State or Texas is gonna beat Washington. But

(34:35):
in advance of the games that really matter, tomorrow might
be your slate of games that end up being the
best game spread? Is what ten in your game? Yeah?
Is it up to ten? Now? Yeah? I saw nine
and a half or ten earlier. That's gonna be heartbreaking
for all those Florida State fans who believe they're good,
nicely done. I like what you did there. You know
you get in there and sell sells on the way

(34:57):
out the door. I figured I throw a little bit
of shade there. Way, can I one sneaky good Bowl
game that if you get a chance, you must watch it?
And I know that you and I don't get a
chance to work again this week. And I apologize for
you being subjected to the stinking genius. But you just
gonna keep telling me about his bets, all all data. No, no,
here's what it's gonna be. Um, he's in sports anxiety. Um,

(35:18):
the Dolphins are still going to the super Bowl, and
tow it is his quarterback. So he also said he
was gonna quit his job if the Dolphins lose to
the Jets in the final week of the season and
walked to hand in his resignation from Vermont. So walk
to l A. These are all things that is something
now he's lost bets to to to lose his job.

(35:38):
I don't know what um every season, at the very
least twice a year, but sneaky good game. Sneaky good game, Mike,
and I know that everyone's like, well, but Will Anderson
is playing and Bryce Young's playing, so they're gonna kick
the snot out of everyone. Kansas State Alabama is gonna
be a good game. Nine am on the West Coast,
eleven am, God's time zone on New Year's Eve, Sugar

(35:59):
Bowl to be worth it. Make sure that's one of
those I think early can't miss games. It'll be well
worth your time. There you go. I Im just thinking,
you know, as you were going through the Liberty Bowl
and all that stuff, uh, the Liberty Stadium. Uh. I
just have old remembrances of videos that we had taped
of old wrestling shows when they were the parking pay

(36:20):
per views at the Liberty Bowl. Yeah in Memphis. Yeah,
it's in the parking lot. That arena is where Jerry
the King Lawler and the what the Mid South Wrestling
is that you got it done? Yeah, it's right there
in the It's right there in the parking lot. I've
been there. I've gone there before. It's amazing. So yeah,
beyond maybe an appearance by the King, I think the

(36:41):
Liberty Bowl is gonna be a good game tomorrow. We'll
look forward to it. We'll have a couple of games
working in our window as we get started tomorrow night.
Thanks for sitting in, thanks for looking out, uh, and
for the great conversation tonight. I appreciate you. Great rest
of your week, buddy. Thanks buddy at Plank shows where
you find them on Twitter, find me over at Swollen
Dome thanks to Monty Bologna's Ustin Prospering. Of course, Chris

(37:01):
Proffett at Chris Perfett. You want to read his stuff
prior to Detroit. Coming up next, as we continue here
on the great Fox Sports Radio airwaves, we've got Bernie Fratto,
who's going to be in for Ben Maller uh this
evening as Ben takes a little sojourn himself. More college
football and NFL news tomorrow on Fox Sports Radium.
