(00:24):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings, Welcome inside our
three of The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. I don't know, are we gonna get done
first or are they going to adjourn for the weekend
with the with Congress voting for Speaker of the House
in round fifteen. Now, uh, it is that kind of
(00:45):
night right now. It is a fay. Things happen on
a Friday. Man, it's Friday. You just say it's Friday.
It is here. Well, I mean, you just just keep
pushing the deedle. And and as we know, when we've
gotten in the world of politics historically and even in
recent history, nothing gets resolved in a matter of a
day or two. I mean, runoffs and recounts and all
(01:07):
sorts of other things. There's there's so many different permutations
to all of this, so I'm not shocked at all.
Grab some popcorn and hang out a while. Jason, what
do you want to vote? I want the Jets to
get a new quarterback. That's why you get me Lamar Jackson.
And I'll vote for whatever you get me Lamar Jackson
for next year. I'll give you whatever you want. Man,
I'll give you as we got Lamar. We're gonna win
(01:29):
the Super Bowl. Uh, we're live from the tirect dot
com studios. Direct dot com will help you get there
and unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tireract dot com the
way tire buying should be well. Speaking of Lamar Jackson,
look a Bowl prediction we gave you weeks ago. Now
(01:50):
I'm seeing people in national media go, hey, Lamar Jackson
has played his last game as a Raven. Yeah, oh wow, man,
you know what, Hey, I get it. That's awesome. We
we we did that like like five weeks ago. Okay,
maybe five, maybe like three weeks ago. Um, he's not
going to play this week that you know. There's a
lot of drama surrounding the Ravens. Bengals game. Obviously with
the Ravens not being able to win the division. Now, uh,
(02:13):
the game has taken on a little bit less important.
So maybe we didn't think he was going to play.
Still injured, still limping. He was limping on the sideline
last week. John Harbaugh said today that they hope he
can return for their wild card game. Hoping he can
return for the wild card game not happening. Well, remember
(02:33):
last week he was saying, Hey, I only coach the
guys that are here. Yeah, what can you do well?
I mean, right at this point, what can you do well?
But the fact that your coach has resolved himself to
that point from long descriptions of the injury and timelines
or whatever to I don't know. I just work here.
Look both side, you could tell both sides have had
it with each other. And I'll give you this Big
(02:54):
Bowl prediction that shortly after, shortly after the regular season
ends on Sunday, going into the wild card game, you're
going to get reports. You're gonna see the headline sources
Jackson wants out of Baltimore. You're gonna that's gonna even
before the wild Card. But it doesn't matter. He's gonna
(03:16):
say I want out, I'm not gonna play anymore. I
want you to trade me. I'm not going to sign
the franchise tag, and I'm I'm putting my I'm I'm
drawing a line in the sand. And the reason this
is gonna happen is because, yes, they've been moving towards
this for some time. The Ravens don't want to give
him the money that he wants, and he wants the
money that he feels he deserves as an m v
P quarterback in the NFL. We've talked to Jason lackin
(03:39):
for about this a long time. He's are he's on
the ground in Baltimore. He said, listen, this is what
it is. We know that it's not been a great
relationship and now it's at its end. When he got hurt,
he was not going to risk going back out on
the field getting hurt some more, which would hurt his
negotiating ability for a big contract, whether if I wanted
to stay in Baltimore or or if I wanted out.
(04:01):
It's gonna be less money for me with a team.
He is not going to risk his health for a
team that he's turned the page on right and and look,
I would say the one thing for Lamar Jackson, don't
act as your own agent. You make things get personal.
That's why people have agents. But it's really doesn't matter
now because it's past the point of no return. He's
not gonna come back and risk his his football future
(04:23):
for a team that he's doesn't want to play for again,
and the Ravens will trade him. And this is why
you know a trade request or or a demand is
going to happen from Lamar Jackson because Steven Shotty already
doesn't want to pay him. So are they really going
to go down this whole road of well, you can
sit out as long as you want to, will eventually
get you back in. We'll find you will do all
of these things. Do you want to do that to
(04:44):
a guy you don't want to pay anyway? No, you
only want to You only want to do that if
it's a guy you want to keep, right right. We
gotta keep this guy, man, we gotta figure out a
way we gotta keep. We gotta keep, we gotta keep him.
So yeah, what's gonna happen is they're going to let
They're going to say, okay, if you don't you don't.
You don't want in here. Let's figure out a deal
and they'll see that you can get a lot of
draft picks for him. We'll find out what kind of
(05:05):
money it is uh that that Lamar Jackson is looking forward.
There's going to be teams will give it to him
because he will be the number one quarterback available. You're
talking about an m v P quarterback and twenties six
years old, who's got at least five good years left,
five elite years left as an NFL quarterback. Yeah, people
are gonna line up to go get him. They're gonna
give up draft picks and all kinds of stuff. And
(05:26):
the Ravens are gonna say, okay, we wanted to move
on anyway. We just get away from a year or
six months or or eighteen months of a headache of
we's here, we're gonna franchise him, does he show up?
Does he not? We can move on here. Both sides
seem ready for this. Is like the breakup where you're
just kind of waiting for the other person to say
it first and then and then you say, okay, yes
(05:47):
I agree, I think we should break up. Yes I agree,
Oh you're good. Okay, we're great. So we'll split this
meal and I'll see you. Yeah, great, Okay, I'm gonna
take you out of my phone as a contact. Yes,
I'll take you out of my phone too. So if
you text me for something, if something I left something
at your house, just say hey, it's me. So I
know it's you because I'm deleting you from my phone. Great. Yes,
I'm deleting you as well. Glad we got to meet together,
see you later. This is what's gonna happen. This is
(06:08):
it for Lamar Jackson. We told you, we told you
three or four weeks ago he was that he wasn't
going to play again. Now, congratulations to everybody else who's
on that bandwagon. We told you about that a while ago.
And trust me, you're gonna see and you're gonna get
those leaks and reports and sources story right after the
regular season on Sunday. Yeah, I dig that. You got
straight to the hey let's split a meal thing. Yeah, yeah,
(06:30):
call this. He's good for you. Did you pay for
the salad and bread sticks or did you pay for
the entrees? Or you really just split it down the
middle based on what you ate the old what? What? What?
I ain't think. No, you ordered the steak and lobster.
Come you pay more like it was your idea to
break up. So you pay the bill that's at your
(06:52):
last two cents into all of this. No, what's curious, right,
go back to Bashadi. When the Deshaun Watson contract got signed.
He was the only guy that really came out and
said this the dumbest thing that you could possibly do, right,
because he knew that it was changing the complexion of
the game for the rest of them. Uh, No matter
(07:13):
what he might have thought of the of Watson, the
deal and everything in a vacuum of what Deshaun Watson
was away from the game, hasn't played the game, and
you're gonna give him this money versus man, you really
did a screw job on the rest of us with
this guaranteed money. All right, all all along, it's been
rumored that it was one one nineties something like that
(07:35):
as related to Lamar Jackson, and he's just pointing over
to Cleveland, go in same division. Look what he got
not being able to play, and so you look around. Also,
if your Lamar Jackson's like the team that they've built
around you, Ark andrews Hell of a player, is he
gonna stay healthy? How much longer? Right missed a chunk
of time. This year has had some disappearing UH spots
(07:57):
based on problems on the old The wide receiver position
has been a let's see if we can discover somebody
that's kind of hanging out because the guys we drafted. Sorry,
Mr Bateman, you have not been available to become routine
contributor here Liz Frank injury. This year finishes with fifteen catches.
No help for Lamar Jackson the run game. That's what
(08:20):
you're philosophically built to do. Here's the problem. None of
those guys stay healthy either. And J. K. Dobbins has
been fantastic when available dot dot dot when available, and
defensively better than you've seen in some spots. It's obviously
not the train wrecord was in that opener when to
a tongue of Violoa had everybody's eyes bugging out of
(08:42):
their head and going, WHOA, what happened here? But suffice
to say, this is not the Ravens squad of bole.
Even if they've made the playoffs and it's a great story,
Congratulations coach are Ball, etcetera. You've got an organization where
if you're Lamar Jackson, you're also you gotta do a
bit of selling on him of why he'd to stay
around other than here's a giant satchel of money, because
(09:03):
he can go get the giant satchel of money anywhere.
I mean, that's not not the thing. Like, if you're
gonna give up your body play, what the way and
the style that they've wanted him to at some point
you want to at least know what is around you
on the offensive side is commensurate with your talents and
can take you to that final level as opposed to
the lazy narrative and Lamar just can't get over. I mean,
(09:26):
look what happens and down the end of the stretch
and into the playoffs, like are you looking at the
players that are on his squad? Like what are we
doing here? Well, look, it was a different way to
build the team. Right. For years it was why don't
you go get Lamar Jackson wide receiver talent? And they
tried to varying degrees. I don't know how, I don't
know if they really really tried, Like you never evaluation
(09:49):
but right, but you you never saw the Ravens really
go all in on. Hey, we're gonna go get this
number one stud receiver. We're gonna go bring a couple
of guys in here. You never saw them do that,
But what they did this year was a little bit different.
They took a little bit more off his plate. Right,
his passing attempts and his rushing attempts were down and less,
a little bit less Lamar. That's ten less plays that
(10:10):
he had the ball in his hand during the game,
right and a little bit less. Lamar Jackson turned out
to be the best thing even with the injuries. Their
offense was good enough, their defense, they were playing really well.
And then he got hurt and they stumbled and looked
Tyler huntly. As much as people love him as a backup,
you could tell he's not quite up to it. This
is a team that could have won the a f
(10:30):
C North had Lamar Jackson stayed health, they said, Because
so they kind of figured out almost by trial and
error's gonna keep throwing stuff up against the wall and
see what sticks. And finally this is the approach that's stuck. Hey,
we'll go out and get deep at running back. Uh,
you know, Hey, Andrews is the guy. He throws too.
Let's make sure we have him and wide receiver wise,
we don't need to go crazy. Let's just have him
(10:50):
do a little bit less. And doing a little bit
less has been the right call. It's two less plays
per quarter, two and a half less plays per quarter
that Lamar Jackson has the ball in his hand is
doing something, it's less of a chance for him to
make a mistake or for something to go wrong, and
incomplete pass and putting the ball on other people's hands
has seem seemed to work. So they actually did figure
it out. And that's the crazy part, mikecause that okay,
(11:12):
we gotta but now they still don't want to pay him,
and now he's hurt, and now it's it's past the
point of no return. I don't see how you get
to that offseason. Okay, Now we're gonna guarantee you all
that money, right? Oh yeah, did you wanted? You wanted
it all guaranteed because Deshaun Watson got it guaranteed. My goodness,
I can't stand the Browns because they did that, because
that changed everything for every NFL quarterback. But we're not
(11:33):
going to give it to you. Okay, Well that's what
I want, Okay, we're gonna trade you. Okay. This trade
is gonna be much easier than you think, because we've
been conditioning the last couple of years to think trades
like Russell Wilson. It takes so long. We have to
get so many teams involved, and here's hiss, no trade clause,
and here's the compensation, going back and forth. It's really
hard to trade a big star quarterback. This is gonna
(11:54):
be very easy. It's gonna be one of those deals
where you go, oh, he's out there listening to offers.
They got it. It's out, it's done, and they're moving
on and Lamar Jackson's going to be a jet uh
you know, very quickly after the regular season is over,
Zach Wilson's playing quarterback for John Harbor next year in
the Baltimore Ravens. It's gonna be awesome. Well, but go
back to last year before the you know, Matthew Stafford
(12:16):
coming over from from the Lions. It was the same principle. Hey,
you know, we've gone as far as we can go.
It's been a dozen years. How you're good, I'm good.
All right, go find a trade. They found a trade,
pretty nice trade, and as it turns out, and something
to build off of, especially when you got a lunatic
and I use that word lovingly, like Dan Campbell running
(12:36):
the show right, a lot of excitement. They they've got
a staff that's really intriguing with all those x NFL
players New World Order as far as constituting and building
a staff and a and a squad and identity and all.
But for Lamar Jackson, for other quarterbacks, you're You're right,
you can come together very easily. I empower you, your family,
(12:57):
whoever is gonna go and make those calls, go find
a trade partner. It'll be. It's easier than you think
it's gonna be. A wait, that's how easy it was.
I can't believe that. It's like making a trade in fantasy.
I talked to this one guy for like weeks and
we could and then I make one offer to a
guy and he accepts it right away and we make
a trade. Into happens. It's weird how it works. But also,
you know, ponder this. You got back to back years
(13:19):
where Lamar Jackson played twelve games. That's significant at this point,
especially if part of it is the gamesmanship of I'm
just sitting down. I mean, I'm I'm I'm a little
you know, hurt and injured, but I'm also just playing
the game because hey, screw you. Like the fact that
that creeps into the lexicon and that creeps into the
(13:40):
discussion process is problematic for a guy in terms of
being able to keep him and retain him, and the
push for the fans to do so as well. We
told you Lamar has played his last game. It's happening.
Nothing's changed. The trade will be Jason. You know, the
Jets would in trade Zach Wilson for him, straight up,
know that, right? Uh no, they we have to include
(14:03):
a Bradman, our punter who he's terrible too. Yeah, we
put both those guys in the field, that could be
Andrews and Lamar Jackson for Zach Wilson. The Jets would say, Now,
I really thought you were just gonna start going down
the line of naming guy after guys Smith pause, and
this guy and this guy he doesn't and this guy
(14:23):
and this guy, and way doill we treat Union Jets?
Next year? Wait, we trade for Justin Herbert next year.
You'll see, oh yeah, good luck with that. You'll see
Wilson is playing for you. Good luck. Good Think about
how much he can really run social media and in
New York, New Jersey. Oh that's true, Yeah he would really,
I can write that down. That's a big selling point

Com studios, and I'm just gonna say it right out
in my car. We'll give we got our upset special
(15:49):
picks coming your way. But I'm gonna say this my
big Bowl prediction for tomorrow night. We got two games
Chiefs in the Raiders, um Titans in the Jaguars. We
made our picks Titans Jaguars last hour. I will give
you this big Bowl prediction for tomorrow. You ready, Yeah,
let's go. Jared's did him throws for four dred yards?
Look at you? Four bills for Jared's did him against
(16:13):
the Chiefs tomorrow? Four bills? Because number one, he's gonna
need to to keep up in this game. Obviously, he
went for three fifty last week against the Niners. You
can see how comfortably is a whole season in Josh
McDaniels system. He has weapons, he has guys to throw to. Hey,
Davante Adams can catch passes. Again, everybody, he goes for
(16:33):
four bills tomorrow against the Chiefs. I dig that plus
eight and a half or nine, depending on where you're
looking at some downward pressure because it was nine and
a half. But as I I said earlier in the week.
I I'll say it again, Russell Wilson looked competent against
the Chiefs and his two games this year. What have
(16:53):
we done but mock the Broncos and the entirety of
this season. So for Ared Stid him a guy who's
trying to get the look see both from the Raiders
and externally, to say, hey, I'm a guy that should
get a shot. Remember I was buried in New England
and here I am. Uh. Yeah, he's he's a guy
that I expect to wing it around Davante Adams. You know,
(17:14):
you're also trying to convince him, you know that it's
a good place to be that even if his best
friend Derek Carr ain't there anymore. Look, we can force
the damn balty you all night long. So yeah, I
would anticipate, uh, some excitement in this one. Fifty two
and a half is the total. I'm just I'm just
picturing McDaniel saying, hey, just just come here, Jaick, were listen,
(17:37):
throw every pass tomorrow to Davante. But what if other
guys right did it? Did it? Throw every pass to Davante?
But he might did every pass goes to DeVante. If
you need to throw it to somebody else, at least
make sure he's in the area. Then when he gets
back to the huddle, you say, hey, I meant to
throw it to you, but I overthrew it. But but
(17:58):
coach did it? Did it? Every pass to Davante Javante
Adams just tapped out of the game on this second
in three Uh, Stidham turns, he fires. He just drilled
Davante Adams, who wasn't paying attention. He was getting oxygen
and hevin gatoraded. Now he just got hit in the
side of the head. I can't believe it. But what
a day for Davante Adams just in the first quarter,
(18:21):
eleven receptions for a hundred and twenty eight yards and
two touchdowns four minutes for him. All of you in
those daily Fantasy finals uh and and two week finaleges,
whatever you did with your championship round, I've seen a
lot of creativity trying to make things happen here. Yeah,
(18:42):
let's go. Yeah, you know, hey's speaking that real quick. Uh.
You know, look, we've talked a lot about this this year.
You and I are both in the Big Guillotine League,
which is the most fun league we've done all year long.
It's austin the last couple of years we've done it.
You and I are both in the finals, you know,
and in case you know, a guillotine league is all
you have to do is not be the lowest scoring
(19:02):
team every week and you stay in it, and the
players who get the teams and get knocked out, their
players become free agents and you've been on them. Well,
we've been doing the finals the last couple of weeks
and there's four teams and it Mike and I are
both in it, and you have a chance to win.
You are up by twelve and you're done with players,
and the other guy has Jamaar Chase. And of course
(19:22):
we didn't you know, we didn't get the end of
the game on and and Bills and and Bengals is
not going to be uh played again. So but there's
been no decision. Have you got an email on how
what's gonna happen? And I mean, I'm surprised. I was like, Okay,
I guess, I mean, and I know only because I'm
curious to see how many people are starting to, you know,
(19:44):
what different leagues are doing what now for this right
because you know, look and look, we can talk about
stuff like this. We've had a great it's been a
very extremely positive week for Damar Hamlin. Today his breathing
tube is out, he's talking on his own, he FaceTime
the bills. It's just been such an awesome week. And
you know, and they finally got to tell him how
many toys he gets to buy. Yeah, exactly, dude, you
(20:06):
got you got ready to go shopping. You do some
online shopping, all right, because you you have a lot
of You've got like seven million dollars worth of toys
to buy for people. Just unbelievable. Yeah, I've seen a
lot of different permutations, Jason. A couple of the leagues
I'm in the industry things where they just declared it
a final in a couple of circumstances that it was
a natural final because somehow the team's in the finals,
(20:30):
uh and playing this past week. Uh didn't have anybody
in the Monday night game, which is I'd be curious
to see what the percentage was, but that's just the
way it worked. But when when you get down to it,
I've seen the Alright, we'll take this guy's stats from
week eighteen and apply it to week seventeen. I've seen,
all right, we're pulling Week eighteen in in its entirety.
(20:51):
So now it's a two week finale, and if you
had one of the players from Buffalo or Cincinnati will
take the guys that were on your bench and substitute
them in which may or not may and may or
may not help you greatly. Uh in that regard, obviously
not going to match at one for one. But just
like in the NFL itself, no perfect solution to any
(21:13):
of this, and everybody just trying to make the best
of it. I've seen some teams just say, all right,
screw it. The pots going into either Hambling's charity or
a charity of our our locally of our choosing of
similar ilk uh and we're just donating that cash minus
our entry fees to the participating teams in the final. Yeah,
that's that's some great stuff. It's it's it's certainly fun
(21:33):
to see how different leagues are doing that. I'm surprised
we haven't heard anything like, really, it's Friday night now,
you know. Yeah, I think I'll have to harass Churching
because if I'm being declared the winner, then I I
want to belt forget about you. No, no, I want
to belt now. I want to belt the Chase. That's
Rich Show with Mike Harmon. Say, if you're hating derision
(21:55):
for Smith, get you the Joey Chestnut Mustard belt. That
would be the belt. They give you the the Coney
Island Belt. Time now for our Upset Special picks. We
do it every week, Mike and I give you a
couple of picks. In the NFL College football we have
the upset Special picks as well. And Frostburg kind of
laughed your your record. I am twenty five and twelve
(22:19):
this season with Upset Special picks twenty five and twelve.
I have been red hot the last month, and I'm
putting this record on. Even if I go twenty five
and fourteen, I'm still better than anybody in Vegas. But
I got twenty five and twelve. Mike Harmon, this is
some kind of year from Mike FRANCESSA one two, three, four, five,
(22:46):
six seven That's how I counted, and twelve twenty five
and twelve. Yeah, that doesn't sound right. All I could
say is next year, we gotta figure out a way
to get across the Nevada border. So we can put
this to the to work. Just go back on Twitter
and see me all the way through the year. Frostberg,
it's there, it's there. Trust me. I'm not gonna I'm
(23:07):
not gonna line to Everybody'm not gonna lie about something
like that said buddy, I mean, folks just make stuff
up all the time. Come on rivera splinter. Hey, I'm
fifty two and over Frostberg. Uh So here we go.
This is I will say this is a difficult week
(23:29):
for upset special picks. My first one, I'm going with
a game that has absolutely zero impact on the playoffs
but has the big impact on the draft. Give me
the Texans getting two and a half over Indianapolis. I
will take the Texans on the field, but I'm not
gonna say no to the two and a half points. Look,
(23:51):
these two teams are both terrible. They both can't wait
for the season to end. There's rumors swirling around both
head coaches, the quarterbacks. But Houston's a team that's got
a little more fight, all right. Indianapolis, since they've blown
that lead, that big lead to the Minnesota Vikings, it's
been when is this season ending? Like? Can we just
get this done? Sam Ellinger now is starting a quarterback
(24:13):
this week. Jeff Saturday has gotta be saying, I came
out of the booth for this. This is really really
come with this. Um, give me a little bit of
Davis Mills, who will do enough to win this game
and will give the number one pick in the NFL
draft to the Chicago Bears. I will take the Texans
in this game over the Colts. Oh, I like that.
(24:33):
Look at that is spicy. Um. We talked about it
a little bit before. Forty one and a half is
the total? Give me the Rams why? Because they want it?
They want to play. Spoiler Bobby Waggoner is gonna be
running around like he's Forest Whittaker and fast times on
Ridge bond. I that's how much he wants this game. Uh.
(24:54):
For again, forty one and a half, Becker mayfield a
lot of running from cam Akers, one of man diticipating
here a big game for him. Uh. And for the
tight ends who've come up big these last couple of weeks.
Seattle's defense porous, uh, and it gets them here in
a big spot. And Gino, well, we we see Gino
regress and I'll be kind there. Wow, look at you? Wow? Gene,
(25:19):
no gene, no gene, no wow, because Pete Carroll's too
preoccupied by looking around and saying, hey, hardball, that's my move. Uh.
The second pick upset special picks this one. It's so
easy to me that it almost seems like it's a
(25:40):
trap line. But for some reason, the Buccaneers are four
point dogs to the Falcons. Um de ridders going for
a second straight win. But I know, yes, he did
win last week. He he he did win last week.
He won last week. Um, I know that. Look, I
know that Todd Bowl has talked about maybe the starters
(26:03):
are gonna play for a while come out of the game.
They need to get something going right. So Brady is
gonna play. The starters, will play enough to get points
on the board. And this defense is still really good,
all right. That the Falcons are just not a good team.
They're gonna try to run all guy every single play.
The Bucks need something positive and they're gonna play their
(26:26):
starters a decent amount of time. They're gonna win this
football game. I'm not gonna say no to the four
and a half points. Tampa Bay is just a better
football team, even if they're running with their backups or
guy's gonna coming in who aren't who don't normally play
a bunch. They are the better football team. Their defense
will get it done. Tomorrow Tampa gets into the temples
of the playoffs on an upswing and they win this game.
(26:48):
But again, I'm not gonna turn down the four and
a half points. Yeah, and I don't. I don't care
who actually finishes the game. I'm taking Frostbergs chargers, even
if he has to take the field plus three on
the road at Denver over under. Wow, look at you
taking the chargers right there. Normally Frostberg's upset when you
(27:10):
when we picked the charges. What are you guys doing?
You picking the charge? You normally gets upset about that.
I'm Frostberg's filling And yeah, you guys suck he Lien.
Tight Shirts got a voice, look at him back. Those
anime videos will be up by the end of the night,
can't you can't wait? Oh hey, tight Shirt. Shout out
from my wife by the way, because she loved your
(27:31):
Paul career reference last night the show. Yes, love that.
When that she goes, she goes Paul Korea the hockey
player right he was talking about it, said yeah, she goes,
Oh my god, wow, that was really you know, who
wasn't happy with it? Who wasn't progressive? They hated it.
He was the play of the night, his goal from
(27:54):
the two thousand three Stanley Cup Finals in New Jersey.
They weren't happy. Man, Look what you did? Uh uh?
So there you go, are upset Special picks weeks the
final ones of the year. Real quick, Yeah, keep my
team's name out to your mouth. Well, I mean, did
you want to wanted me to pick Sam Howell? Who Sam? Sam? Sam?
(28:18):
Sam Sam so we can get another Sam into the show?
Is that the guy who Jason says gonna win the
Heisman next year? No? No, no, he was gonna be
the Heisman last And then that was that was I.
I Hey, I stood up for that bad ball prediction
earlier this week when I said Howel and Slovens we're
gonna go one too in the draft. I stood up
for that two years ago when I said it. And
(28:39):
now and now that a year later, knows they're done,
he's naming Sam how All the start, Well, I had
to I had to wait to bring that up to
one of those guys. Did something that you know, up
we look, we have had a long journey. You know
how they do those things in the final either the
ga on fishing for the NBA or the final weeks
(29:03):
of the NFL campaign where I was like, all right,
this guy, you know his quarterback, he's well traveled. That's
Slovis at this point. They put him in whatever type
of car he drives, and there's this giant head going
from school to school. See I I just I'm just
thinking that Slovis is the second uh journeyman quarterback in
college football behind j T. Daniels. They are the two journeys.
(29:25):
They are the Ryan Fitzpatrick's of college football. It's a
new era. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon live from the ti
iraq dot Com studios, where Aaron Rodgers is dealing with
(29:47):
a lot of stuff right now. It's got the season finale,
the season finale of This is Us, the season finale
against the Lions on Sunday night when they're in the playoffs,
and now apparently he dating Mallory Eden's who first rose
to prominence when she was the Milwaukee Bucks representative the
draft lottery back in two teen. She's the heir to
(30:09):
a billionaire's fortune, and now, apparently, according to different gossip sites,
they are dating. Um. I would have I I really
wasn't surprised at this, Mike. I would have thought it
was kind of we do this already, because we see
pictures of the two of them at games all the time. Now,
they they're not connoodling or holding hands. I love connotling
cool or holding hands, but they've been to games together
(30:31):
for a while now, so I kind of assumed that
was the case. Yeah, this one didn't seem like too
big a stretch. I mean, if you were laying odds,
it seemed pretty easy. Where are they sitting next to
each other? Again? Cool? I mean, but maybe they were
talking about ownership stuff, maybe staging a coup and taking
over the team from the rest of the part owners.
(30:52):
I don't know. Maybe there's that they're plotting to get out.
You know that she's related to the direct direct lineage
of relation to the owner. We're plotting to coup. It
doesn't matter because I want it now. Damn it. I
don't want it to be passed to me. I had
a guy who's made a couple of hundred million dollars here,
(31:14):
and he has access to more because he has wealthy
friends across this National Football League. I watched Brian Cox.
He's not giving any of to any of those kids.
I'm gonna go get it when I can get it. Now,
I walk into a room, does the piano start playing?
So while this is happening, Um, I'll tell you this much.
(31:37):
Depending on how the game goes, Sunday is Aaron Rodgers
future with the Packers. It's hard to say, well, everything
that's gone on, all the drama for the last few years,
comes down to one game, But yeah, it kind of does,
right because look, Rogers talked this week about how, oh,
I don't know, I'm unsure about coming back all this
and the past. You know, the Packers have just had
(31:57):
it with him, and and it's it's a case of okay,
what did we get out of this year? Look at
where we are. But it's the outcome of Sunday's game
that will dictate Aaron Rodgers future. If the Packers win
and make the playoffs, you can say it's working. It's
still working. It just took us a little bit of
time this year. All right. Maybe not going out and
(32:18):
getting a good receiver and losing Davanta Adams wasn't the
exact right way to proceed, but we figured it out
a little bit. You know, it was the right way
we should play back the way you face. Maybe maybe
maybe that wasn't the right way to do what. Maybe
it wasn't, but okay, but we figured out our identity
because they have and there and there are a much
(32:39):
better team than they were a few weeks ago. So
you can say, yes, it's working. You win or losing
the playoffs after this, Hey we're still in the play
We're still a playoff team. It's working. But if you lose,
it's we've gone from the NFC Championship game and we've
missed the playoffs. We lost at home on a Sunday
night to the Lions, and that means we're gonna start over,
(32:59):
because you know, the Packers want to start over anyway,
and to think they can't forget Yes, I know, Aaron
Rodgers ninety million dollar dead capit you can figure out
the money. Trust me, no one will be talking about
is this Aaron Rodgers last year with the Packers unless
they know you could figure out the money. If both
sides are motivated, you can figure out the money. So
it's really that simple. If you win, you can say
(33:21):
it's still working. Let's stick with Aaron Rodgers. Maybe they
trade Jordan's love or something else. But if not, it's okay,
it's time to move on. We need that hard reset.
We'll get draft picks, maybe won't get a lot, maybe
they'll pay some of the salary down. Whatever, the trade's
gonna wind up being with Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
or the Packers, or to the Steelers, reever winds up
being to the Jets. Whatever team he winds up going to,
could be the Jets, whatever team. That's that's how it's
(33:44):
going to go down. And because you can you can
sell it if they make the playoffs again, you can't
sell it if you go from the NFC title game
at home too. We didn't even make the playoffs. And
that's when that will that will strike them to say
we gotta pull the trigger and move on. They did
it with Brett Farve. They got of his act there
after a couple of years, and they moved on to
Aaron Rodgers, and they will do the same thing. Now
(34:04):
we're sick of his act. There after a couple of years,
we'll move on to Jordan's love. Sunday's game will tell
you Aaron Rodgers future with the Green Bay Packers. Well,
I mean, I think a lot of it depends on
do you do you have the same love for love
that you had for Rodgers when Brett Farvee was pulling
his act. Because I think everybody that watched Rogers going
(34:25):
back to college and coming into the NFL is all right,
when's he get his chance? And when Rogers farve kept
threatening retirement, see how how similar there when that happened,
and then it opened the door and eventually it was
the well I want to go here, No, you're gonna
go to the Jets. First. Remember, you did have a
quarterback that was pretty good until the ver uh and
(34:46):
bred Farvee folks seem to forget how good he was
that season because he was really bleep and good. They
got hurt uh, and then he was able to get
his way in the middue. He was great till he
tore his bicep. He tours bicep like week twelve and
that was it. And then we get him to Minnesota,
we get our why why do you ponder passing? And
go from there? But it's you had the guy, and
(35:09):
you knew you had the guy. Do you think you
have the guy now? Do you feel lucky? Do you
feel like, uh, you know you're gonna be able to
extend on the thirty plus years of the excellence of
execution out of the quarterback position. If so, then then
perhaps your your gutsy and you keep going. I think
Aaron Rodgers is there and that bottle of champagne that
I bought is gonna become vintage real fast. Well, I
(35:31):
don't know that they just give the job to Jordan's love.
I would say they they it's Jordan's love, and they
draft somebody. It's hey, this is that this is the
new team. We feel it's Jordan's love, and we take
a quarterback somewhat. Earl is in the draft and he's
our and and and they have a situation where it's, hey,
whichever one of these guys works out great, We figured
out the project. Yeah right, well that's well, it's gott
(35:54):
They gotta figure that they can't just put all the
Reggs in Jodan say, hey, Jordan's loves great, because we
don't have no idea if the guy is gonna be
any now, that's why point is that Aaron Rodgers isn't
going anywhere. You gotta you gotta think that. Okay, they'll
know pretty fast, the guys the guy's had, he's been
in this offense now for three years. He's finally getting
a chance. He's got to hit the ground running, or
if not, he stinks and we go out and get
(36:14):
somebody else. But they will move up because they have to.
At some point. They know they have to address it.
They addressed it by drafting moving up to draft Jordan's
Love a couple of years ago. They will do it
here you think again,
