You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside. Yes,
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon,
that buddy live from the tire act dot Com studios.
Tire ract dot com will help you get there. An
unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection, over

(00:43):
ten thousand recommended installers. Tire ract dot com the way
tire buying should be. And yes, it was just as
scant nine years ago today, couple of young kids got together,
started a radio program. And here we are nine your anniversary,
entering year ten. You and I here on Fox Sports Radio,

(01:04):
my friend, Happy anniversary, than buddy, Going all the way
back to the beginning of a little more hair on
my head, a little less gray, but still a little
more hair there. And until I started hearing all the Jets,
Mets and other takes that maybe pull it out, And
now I will pull people, you know, the curtain back
because we've got terrible rains here in southern California, which

(01:25):
if you're trying to watch the National title game, I
don't know why you would at this point you need
to watch anymore, but just to pull that. The satellites
are all having problems, right, high winds, high whatever, so
a lot of stuff is working. But I just saw
the end of the Knicks game and the recap there,
so that came through as if to say, happy bleeping

(01:47):
anniversary there, Buddy uh Me and Harmon together into the
tenth year that leaven when TCU play for the Nationals.
Oh what well? I mean the we're long yeah, saying
you had a chance right now, Mathematically there is still
a chance if TCU gets a touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover,

(02:18):
field goal, we have a tie game. That's a lot
of stuff, but that and mathematically it could still happen.
I did touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover, touchdown, turnover,
field goal. Could I just say I do like talking
about eating turnover turnovers. Yeah, forty five to seven Georgia

(02:41):
over TCU. And really, this is a game where the
officials incredibly screwed TCU from the beginning. I mean, we're
gonna talk about this a lot, because right when they
said we're ready to kick off, that screwed TCU right
from the game. If they if they had held back
kick off until now, there's still nothing nothing in the game.
Was trying hey it and we got something, but not
a nice screwed TCU. They said, no, we're ready to

(03:03):
kick off. TCU said great, like this is gonna be great.
Now you just screwed us. Man, let's have some giggles,
shall we? Right off to jump your live betting line
for this game and a half over under? Is that
seventy and a half TCU is thirty five to one,

(03:24):
Oh man, betting boy, I tell you Georgia and TCU again.
This game has been a blowout from the beginning. It
has been all Georgia. Stetson Bennett has thrown for three touchdowns.
He has run for two touchdowns. Brock Bowers, Uh, maybe
you want to cover one of the best tight ends
in the country. I don't know. Seven for one fifty

(03:45):
two and a touchdown. And uh even, here's how bad
it is tonight for TCU. Here's how good is tight
for Georgia. Even Zack Wilson behind this Georgia offensive line
would be having a good night because Stetson Bennett is
untouched this entire game. They're not pressuring him. When they
couple of times they tried to blitz it didn't work.
I mean, he is just and he's playing a great game.

(04:08):
Don't get me wrong, but he is. I could be
throwing the football for Georgia back there, seven step drops,
sit there, wait where there guys open out. The only
thing would be if I couldn't reach him, right, if
I was trying to Skyler Thompson the ball. I just
throwing balloons up in the air like he did yesterday. Sorry, sorry, sorry,
just had a flashback to him. I mean, really, he's playing.
But man, I'll tell you, I mean, really, Zach Wilson

(04:29):
could have a big night because this is just George's
offensive line is dominant in every aspect of this game,
and Bennett has all kinds of time he's not pressured.
How many times are you if you played a drinking
game watching this game going bend it back to pass.
Have you heard the phrase has time? You would be
forget it, You'd be done. You'd you'd be under, you'd
be under the table by the end of the first quarter.
I keep waiting to hear the audio of someone counting

(04:51):
like you're on the streets one two, one thousand, where
you had to count ted before you can rush the
guy you had ten, we did like five, We said
we did ten. Oh wow, that's too long, that's too
long for a play. We did five, and then you
were allowed to rush. Sometimes we just but it all
depended on who is doing the count right, because it's
like when you're counting out a free throw. It could
be a very lazy. All right, can we just get

(05:12):
this done? Ten count already one one thousand two without
like you were playing hide and go seek, right, we
would come Mississippi one, Mississippi to Mississippi three, missippifore. It's
it's not ten seconds, it's it's all the cadence of
who how much you ran on the prior play. You'd
be the guy calling it out one. You didn't say
Mississippi on five? No, yes, I didn't know. I did

(05:33):
right down over and then down over. So you've got
all sorts of time, and we were watching sitting there
and you invoked the Simpsons more or less nineteen cover nineteen.
He's all by himself, he's spinning the ball at his finger.
Just get it. But to put it in perspective've got
six minutes left in the third quarter. You already at
nearly four or fifty yards of offense and half time.

(05:56):
I mean, it's an absolute blow up. Look, we could
talk about how complicated the other banks make it to
a deem credit card rewards, or we could talk about
how we discover you can redeem rewards for cash and
any amount of anytime. I mean, talk about amazing learn
more discovered dot com slash or deemed rewards terms they
do apply. So why are we seeing this tonight? Why
is this such a big blowout? And there's one reason
that's pretty simple and one that is a little bit. Hey,

(06:19):
it's something we should have seen. Everybody should have seen
coming ahead, Number one, Mike Harmon, because Ohio State played
that final possession terribly to settled for a fifty yard
field goal attempt that they missed. Otherwise they'd be playing
do night that that that is correct? But that is
number three on the left because the gate, the gate,
the game, why we're seeing what we're seeing. Number one,

(06:39):
Georgia is the better football team. Right, obviously we're seeing that,
we're saying it. But here's the here's and and we
ignore this way too many times. When you get to
a semifinal of a championship, whether it's college basketball or
college football or even in the NFL, when you get
to that point, the underdog teams can live and feast

(07:00):
on weird disrespected. Right, what did you get from TCU
after they beat Michigan. Now, Michigan played a horrible game,
but tc you could tell that month they had to
figure things out. They knew what Michigan wanted to do,
and they were able to do justin they went and
punched them in the face. Exactly right. Here's a taste
of hero in medicine. How do you feel? And you
see that all the time. Hey, the underdog team comes
in and they they talk really big after we were disrespected.

(07:23):
We rode that all the way here and this is
and you see that a lot in the semifinal game.
Regret and all of this, and you discounted and blah blah, blah.
In that semifinal game, whether it's a Saturday before the
national championship in college basketball, whether it's the week before
in college football, whether it's the a f C or

(07:43):
NFC championship game, you see teams that pulled the big up. Wow,
look at them. We focused on football. We were able
to do it. Nobody believe. We believed in this locker room,
and you think, Wow, they're much better than you think.
And then something changes because you get to the bright
lights of the championship, whether it's Monday night in New Orleans,
whether it's Sunday night in Arizona in the beginning of February,

(08:06):
or it's Monday night here at so far in Los Angeles.
When the lights get bright, those underdog teams find a
way to melt because it's just too difficult for them.
And I tell you this because you look at how
easy Georgia is running through them, right. I mean, they've
not been close to being stopped all night long. And
the biggest thing you know is on the radio broadcast
when they went down to the sideline after Georgia scored

(08:29):
to go up seven. They had a big defensive meeting
and the coaches were shouting at each other, and we're
shouting the players going, know your job, do your job.
Don't play hero ball because a lot of players are
out of position because they're trying to cover for what
they see your mistakes, and Georgia is taking advantage of right.
Their best defensive back completely fell asleep in the touchdown
past to McConkey, which was which was a thirty yard

(08:51):
pass wide open. You see this underdog teams. The pressure
gets too much and they melt. And that's exactly what
you're seeing tonight, even though I'm sure they had a
great week of practice, great week and a half of practice.
We're ready for this game. We're feeling good. You can
in Oh, wow, George is different and you start to
panic and after that first drive, it's wow, this is
a little bit different, and you see guys are out

(09:11):
of position. It's look, Georgia is like I said, George
is better, but some of these plays. TC is not
even competitive. On Stetson Betton had that touchdown run. I'm
not lying me fifty two years old at this point
because i just had a massage the other day. So
I'm feeling pretty good. Oh I'm getting out up and
out of chairs really good. Now, not like Phil Jackson,
I could have run that touchdown in. I get you
had guys that didn't even there's nobody to block. There's

(09:33):
like they're all the four offensive linemen or escorting him
to the there's nobody to block. There's nobody to block.
I could have run in on that. This is TCU
that it happens when you are an underdog team. You
get to the bright lights of the championship game and
things get jittery and you get blown out by a
team that not only was here last year, but it's
just as good as they were last year. They're looking
to put an exclamation point in this season. And you're

(09:53):
seeing now another touchdown, make it fifty one seven Georgia
over tc another touchdown passed to McConkey four teen yards.
Cornerback kind of tried to cover them to the edge.
Uh So we'll we'll see some backups. We'll get to
learn some of the second and third stringers here on
the Georgia Bulldogs. In rapid succession. Yeah, I mean part
of it is you go back to top twenty five

(10:15):
wins and all the cases that arguments four and those
that were made against in terms of getting TCU into
the dance, and they got here, they got to the
title game, so it verified it. It gave some some
level of confidence of all right, the pool is opening up.
And obviously as we expand the playoffs, we'll we'll see

(10:36):
more teams crack through. But in this particular case, yeah,
you're seeing a decided step up in class. Right. You go,
and you had the month to game plan. You can't
look ahead, right because everything's got to be the focus
on that game. Whereas Georgia, I'll go on a limb
and say they were already kind of thinking about some

(10:57):
other things. Even with Ohio State there obviously a formidable opponent,
but being able to say, okay, what can we go
and exploit, do a little bit of advance scouting and
get ahead of it. And when we look at what
Bett's and Bennett's been able to do this game, he
just throws his fourth touchdown pass to go with the
two runs that it's just at halftime, you wish you

(11:21):
could get Dan Campbell and imported todcu Is Like nobody
they told us we didn't have anything to play for him.
You guys are playing for enough and at zero zero
go out there and show some heart and there's no
pass rush. You see the offensive lineman or just kind
of toying with the TCU front. At this point, it's
like a big brother, little brother going. You can try
to get bomby push, push you down, and push you back,

(11:42):
push you back urgency. Bennett's like sidestep into the left
just so he could get a better vantage point from
his tackle whose standing in front of him and not moving. Look,
there's it's it's a big difference in talent as as
as good as season as TCU had. It's one thing
to beat Michigan in the semifinal when Michigan makes all
kinds of mistakes, if Michigan play everything, if Michigan plays

(12:04):
in Michigan game, they probably win that game by twenty.
But no, they did, and I give TCU credit. They
won the game. They're able to move on. They had enough.
But this is just different Georgia tonight. If they were
playing Michigan, it probably wouldn't be seven, maybe something like
a closer game than last year. But Michigan might. But
Georgia is clearly the class of college football. And now
that now that discussion is gonna be repeat national champion.

(12:27):
Is this the best college football team of all time?
Because we don't get repeat champions It doesn't doesn't happen
all that often. And now here's because it's the same quarterback,
same coaching staff, a lot of players are the same.
Even though some big guys went to the NFL last year,
you can argue last year's team was actually more talented.
But this is a team that's gonna finish undefeated. And
when the national Championship by fifty points, well, by the way,
live betting, now you're losing for TC and a half,

(12:51):
you're losing. It's a machine and that's the thing. It's
next man up. And in an era where we're watching
players trying to figure out where are we gonna get
our best opportunity to be showcased in big games? Where
are we going to get the opportunity to be coached
up to the highest degree. I mean, George has got
to be at the top of the list. Right If
you get any piece of mail that comes floating through

(13:13):
or someone comes by to shake your hand, you've got
to be excited to be part of this because I
think think every guy, even down to the last man,
is always gonna be able to say multiple champion or
if only there for a year champion. I mean they
It breeds just this air of dominance that you just
want to be a part of. So it becomes a

(13:34):
system that unless everybody decides to take their talents elsewhere
in the coaching staff. It's sustainable in today's college football world,
right even with n I L and the transfer portal.
Everybody wants to be on a on a winner like that.
That's gonna trump everything Twitter and how about a Fresk Cup.
Mike gets swollen down The Jason Smith Show with My

it's are not It's nine university. Tell you gotta turn

I'll tell you one thing for the Chargers. They played
the Jaguars on Saturday, right, yea, Ladani and Thomilson can't
come to the game. He showed up for TCU and
look what happened. Yeah, that's gonna be a tough one.

(16:03):
You gotta keep him from the facility. That's gonna be
a tough one. That's gonna be very difficult. Uh Yeah,
tonight is our big nine year anniverse. Here you and
I and and Justin Frostberg. I was thinking about this
about Frostburger. He's been stuck with us forever. You know.
I remember the first time that I worked with him
here at Fox and we did we did a show
was filling in the day after the fourth of July

(16:25):
and we had Joey chest On on the show. And
Joey chest that just sounded like awful, like he was,
you know, the day after eating you know, seventy hot dogs.
He was like, he was really terrible and uh and
hear justin telling me, was the guy just sounds like
he's in pain? How long do we keep him on
the air? I go, I don't know. I mean, Joe
a pretty big deal the day after the fourth of
July because I don't know, I don't know the guy.

(16:46):
Guy sounds like he's in pain. I got, yeah, wouldn't
you be Yeah, Well, don't you think there's some gastronomic
distress going on again? I go to McDonald's and have
a big mac and a big fry. I'm like, who,
I'm a gastronomic distress here. I'm a little bit of distress,
did it? Just a little bit of you know what adventure?
You have to go to the bathroom and just gonna

(17:07):
have to wait that out. It's gonna wait it out
it's gonna happen. Just waited out, just waited up. But
just to put our anniversary here in perspect before we
get into the Jets, Bennett was in his first year
of college. The Jets were three years removed from what
is still their most recent playoff game when you and
I started the Jets. The last time the Jets have

(17:27):
been in the playoffs was three years before. Nine years later,
still have not been to the playoffs. Still have not been,
Still have not been. Hey, Sauce Gardeners really talking on
the big game for next year. Yeah, it's good though,
somebody's got to somebody's got We're gonna be in the
playoffs next year. All right, great this year you were
seven to man. Uh, we'll look, we'll get to the Jets.

(17:48):
We got a lot of NFL to get to. We
got the latest on the Cowboys. We have Aaron Rodgers.
But as we just mentioned, Stetson Bennett is getting a
lot of hugs. It looks like he is coming out
of the game. He will not be playing the rest
of the game. I mean, I'm guessing George's getting the
football back. Early in the fourth quarter, they're up fifty
two to seven and Bennett's coming off the field, He's
getting congratulations from his teammates. He's smiling. It's like the

(18:11):
first time I've seen steps in Bennett smile. Maybe that's
what caused him to be so good. He's like perpetually pissed,
but like like I never smiles. He always has that
look at his face like, yeah, blank you and blank
you and blank you, blank you and blank you. Harmon.
I like that, Yeah, I like that in my quarterback.
All business but a little bit. It's a little bit

(18:34):
a convoy leading you into the Endzo smile a little
bit there. But look, there's no chance he gets hit
the rest of the night unless it's an errant gatorade
bucket or somebody's helmet because they're celebrating in the dog
pile after the after the game, right, there's no chance.
Not that he was getting that he was under dress.

(18:54):
He's got a clean jersey, man, there's no question about that.
But he's a guy that now now he can go
on the sideline and just cheer for the fourth quarter.
I went back to back Mashalton. Uh. Look, now, the
big question is going to be with the game he
had tonight, and yes he did have a big game tonight.

(19:16):
He played well. Lots of guys could have played well tonight.
A lot of guys that if you can hit a
receiver you could do well. But but the show is tonight,
and he was. Yeah, he was terrific. And now the
question is okay Stetson Bennett NFL prospects and for someone
who up even up until a few days ago, by
many draft analysts are like, yeah, maybe could get drafted,

(19:37):
maybe could get No, I'm telling you percent he's getting drafted.
He's getting He's getting drafted. He is a quarterback. Now,
he's twenty five, is a little bit older than than
your typical rookie's only year younger than Joe Burro. But
don't we don't really make the the excuses and arguments
that he's more mature, he's seeing more of the world.
He's gonna come in and he's just gonna be all
about business because he's seen the world. I've seen all

(19:57):
the world. I've seen all good people turn their heads
each day. So I sat slide, I'm on my way. Yes,
he is twenty five, so he's a little bit older
than your average NFL rook and maybe that's part of
his success in college. He's twenty five years old playing
against a lot of two year old But the bottom
line is this, he is an irresistible itch to scratch
for an NFL team. He's coming off of back to

(20:17):
back national championships. He has a quarterback that has defied
the odds at every turn. Every big quarterback that's brought
in well, four star, five star guys, he's been able
to beat them out and hold on to this job
and win it in the middle of last year and
win the national championship, and hold on to it this
year and win the national championship again, and pretty good

(20:37):
stats along the way. And the kid is really talented, right,
He's someone who can get outside the pocket. He's smart,
his arm is strong enough. He can make plays. Now,
is he a next level guy? No, because it's really
hard when you're under six feet tall. It's very difficult.
But maybe he can be one of those few guys
who succeeds that way. Look Drew Brees with six ft
and he would get his get an extra couple of

(20:59):
inches because he would look of his eyes all the
way up and his neck tilted back and get you
ever saw. But he but the itch to scratch for
him is gonna be too irresistible for an NFL team. Hey,
all this kid does is win. He's not going to
come in and be our starter. But we'll come in,
we'll develop them, and you never know, you never know
when you're gonna need a guy. How how many teams

(21:21):
at the end at the end of the year, Uh,
this year in the NFL, we're going to wish we
had another quarterback to throw out there that that had
some kind of big game capabilities and championships on his resume.
He's going to be drafted. It'll be a team that
has a lot of draft picks. Because the team doesn't
have a lot of draft picks to say, well, we're
gonna use one of them on a quarterback that's a
bit of a you know, a project for us and
and I hope probably not. But a team with a

(21:41):
lot of draft picks will take him, and he'll be
a fifthe he'll be gone by the fifth round. He'll
be I'm looking at him right around the fifth round
because quarterbacks are still valuable. He's you know, you want
to get a starter really from the first four rounds
of the draft. Now you're looking at your that that's
the way the NFL draft. You're open to get four
four starters out there, or at least three and one
guy who's gonna contribute a lot. So probably around the

(22:01):
fifth route is when I say Stetson Bett will come
off the board. But he is absolutely gonna get There's
no way he's not going to be drafted by an
NFL team. He will be in the NFL. He will
be a story where he goes will pay attention to
him and see if he can win a job. Maybe
he's a backup, third string, but he's going to be
in the NFL. Yeah. I think the big point that
in your your monologue there that I would triple underscore
was down the stretch, how many teams were desperate to

(22:24):
find a guy to keep the line moving and and
by that I mean teams that were still viable for
the seventh seeds or six seeds going into the playoffs,
and all of a sudden, it's all right, what what
can we find? Right, you're going and signing Glenn and
Josh Dobbs looked really good right in his two games.
He made some big mistakes as well, but on for
a guy that had been there for less than two

(22:45):
weeks quitted himself fairly nice. Yeah, the Commanders are playing
Sam Howill at the end, the Jets are still playing
by they started Joe flat On on the whole. Right,
you had seventy I think it was seventy or seventy
one starters this year year, and that's insane. Only seven
players I think played all seven team games for their teams.

(23:09):
So you've got a lot of churn and and a
lot of trying to figure it out because how many
elite quarterbacks. That's how we get that term elite, right,
because remember that definition has changed quite a bit through
the years. He used to be all right, top three
to five. All of a sudden, it's like, all right,
elite just means you're not being challenged for your job
anymore in the NFL, and that's still at half where

(23:31):
we don't have questions about the future of different quarterbacks.
Go all the way through teams that were vying for
competition in the final week, Bill Belichick didn't even didn't
give a ringing endorsement of Mac Jones today and just
keep going on down the line. You met referenced Joe Flacco,
But if you could have gone to anybody else because

(23:53):
I said it because I couldn't help myself, and then
I wanted to be done with it. You could have
brought up anybody else was playing quarterback m seasons. Your
guys were all chirping, Zach Wilson, your coach, whatever else.
You don't think we're gonna talk about the Jets now
for the purposes of this conversation. You've got so many
teams that you need a quarterback that has been in

(24:15):
a big moment or two to where they're not going
to come in and just be completely overwhelmed, because how
many times do we see that towards the end of
the season, like, all right, another guy hurt. So this
guy has been on our practice squad, let's bring him
up and he can't perform at all. Whereas with Bennett,
you'd at least like to think that based on the
system that he's been been in, the way this has

(24:37):
been run and organized, and the big games that he's
played in. Now, this big game stopped being a game
by the end of the first quarter, but the point
remains the same is big throws, big moments, and a
guy that has just proven to be a winner, and
and there's got to be some place for him on
an NFL roster, particularly when you have your lockstep number

(24:58):
one guy, right, when you've got a Joe Burrow, when
you've got a Justin Herbert, whatever, there you'll find a
spot for a guy to back in a roster like that,
because it really is a break glass in case of emergency.
And with those quarterbacks, intel, you should be playing meaningful
football in December and early January. Stetson Bennett, New York
Jets quarterback. He's starting Week one Jets. Bennett's our guy. Bannett.

(25:24):
Bannett stands, stands. Yeah, Zack Wilson gone, Stetson Bennett in sure,
So Russell Wilson doesn't hurt him at this point, right
it is. Size doesn't come into play. Russell Wilson stayed
really well against the Chiefs and the two games he played, Yes, yes,
yes he did. He could have played the Chiefs every
weekend if Rosberg had been promoted. You're you know, months ago,

(25:44):
who knows what that Denver team might have been. Twitter
and out about a Fresca Mike hats swollen down the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. We

(26:26):
Black Monday for coaches here in the National Football League
and we watched Cliff Kingsbury get five. I mean, Lovey
Smith got fired last night. A Bear to the end,
Lovey Smith, biggest December win, love Smith, Levy Smith better
job this year coaching the Texans, coaching the Bears? Better job?

(26:46):
What what wasn't better with you? Which way? Which way? Better?
The man? All he did was played to the end,
get the Bears that number one pick man. But Cliff
Kingsbury is fired today and we kind of knew that,
and GM Steve Kine, who harmon you thought he should
get another contract at that. I haven't been calling for
those guys to be dismissed at all over the last
year or two. You know, this might be you know,

(27:07):
we talked about my my worst bold prediction. By the way,
yea like Toulate, you know, of course, like obviously whatever
is going on, we hope he's well. Doesn't negate the
fact that he's done a bad job. This might be
my worst bold prediction because preseason, what two teams did
I say we're going to play in the NFC Championship?

(27:29):
I said Philadelphia? And of course I've been focused on
that because you know, when you're right, Yeah, when you're right,
turn on the blinders everything. Who did I say Philadelphia
was gonna play They're gonna play Arizona? That was bad, man,
That was bad. My Sam Howe uh Keaton slovis number
one and two overall in the draft was bad. This
was bad. This was bad, man. I thought. I thought,

(27:50):
Arizona is gonna put it together. This is what they have,
that veteran leadership. I thought it hadn't noted for you.
I'd love to just take out the oversized maul, you know,
steal it from Harley Quinn or baseball bats like you
do in every Mob movie, and take the bat to you.
You didn't think DeAndre Hopkins was gonna get suspended? No,
zach Ertz comes over a c L. Kyler Murray studying

(28:13):
or not still got hurt down, He goes, I just
had a problem the entire time with you. Try to
give credit to Kingsbury figuring anything that the rest of
the argument I could absolve you. That guy was still
gonna be a charge. I did make my pick before
all of those things you said happened. Okay, I did

(28:34):
before all of those things happened. I did make that pick.
I did make that pick then. But I'll tell you this.
I'll give you want to both bull since I did
bad in that bull prediction, I'll give this bull prediction.
When they hire their new head coach and GM. Whenever
they wind up doing this, it's probably sometime somewhat soon
they'll hire the head coach and GM, they will very
quietly shop Kyler Murray around the NFL. Because Kyler Murray

(28:56):
his relationship with the Cardinals, and now you know the
two guys are gone. Who his main lationship. But his
relationship with the Cardinals has always been kind of an
arm's length. He signed the big money deal, This didn't
mean he was gonna be a Cardinal for life. This
meant okay. Now, if you want to trade you teams
know what they're getting and they can we can figure
out some kind of trade compensation if it comes to that.
Because Kyler Murray now is hurt, you don't know when

(29:17):
he's gonna come back. You're gonna have a completely new
regime in here. And as Kyler Murray lit the world
on fire, or has Kyler Murray been an okay quarterback?
I mean he's been good. He's had his moments, but
he's also had moments. It shows you maybe he's not
the franchise quarterback. And now you have a new you
have a new regime coming in that has no loyalty
to him. He's gonna be hurt. Anyway. You're picking third
in the draft, which means it could be c. J. Stroud, right,

(29:40):
it could be Bryce Young. You know, you could get
a quarterback that you need that high because there's five guys,
they're gonna wind up going in the first round. Um,
you can start over again and start that clock over
and not pay And if you're gonna stink, and you
know you could stink with a new quarterback, but are
you gonna stink with a new regime and a quarterback
you're paying thirty plus million dollar was a year two

(30:00):
and Kyler Murray probably not. So I bet you they
very quietly shot because it's gonna you can't just put
him out there because he's injured, you don't know, but
you can quietly shop him to a team interest saying
we want him, we're okay with the medicals, were okay
with what he is, where he is coming back, and
we when he comes back, if it's week six, weeks seven,
we're okay, we like him for our future. They will
quietly shop him in the off season. Yeah, I would

(30:22):
think you at least take any phone calls that are
that are gonna come in and you know, part of
the discussion for a lot of these jobs where you
do have a quarterback under contract, because as you said,
he did sign that balloon balloon uh, novelty check uh.
And before all of this went down and before he
got injured, before Kingsbury gets fired, and whatever the disconnects are,

(30:45):
and that that's it. You're still trying to figure out
what's real, what's imagined in all of that saga? Right,
how much of this was the c y A when
things weren't going well? Of all right, let's leak this
about work, habits and whatever, and not that you had
a bunch of players leap to his defense. So that's
out there, and you certainly take that kind of like
in Denver where all of a sudden it seemed almost

(31:08):
choreographed to all right, all all wide receivers. It is
the first part of our meeting today is going to
be to tweet out your support of russ Let's go.
But but you have these guys in trench, so how
much do you make them part of your decision making?
As you look at the coach right to say, all right,
can you get along with this guy? Do you like
this guy? There's some groundswell of support for Vance Joseph.

(31:29):
Evidently he's got a pretty good relationship with Kyler Murray.
So maybe that's something you can bridge there just by
promoting in the house. Because I also don't see Bidwell
as a guy who wants to go spend a bunch
of money, So I wouldn't be surprised that he wouldn't go,
you know, big game hunting on the open market. But
to your point, Yeah, the curiosity becomes, you know what

(31:51):
kind of market would be established for a guy who,
by the timelines, wouldn't be ready to mid mid next season? Twitter,
and how about a fresca? Mike gets swollen down The
Jason Smith Show with mom my best friend Mike Harmon. Uh,
still a big route Georgia fifty nine seven over t
see you still a long time ago in the fourth quarter,
about eight minutes left to go, but coming up next
a big injury. We have to break down. It's why

(32:14):
it's tough to trust one team potentially win the championship.

touchdown on the board. Midway through the second quarter. They
lead TCU sixty five to seven. Yeah, it is sixty

(33:18):
five to seven. Fourth quarter, sixty five to seven middle middle,
second quarter. No, we can't wait, America. It's a forty
eight point first quarter and now it's a it's a
it's a uh, just real quick. Somebody crying out there.
If there really weren't paying attention. Look up at the
TV second, Look at Max dug In, right, Max Duggan,
Chad Pennington, Get Max dug In, Chad Pennington. A little bit,

(33:38):
a little bit, get a little a little bit. Maybe
hopefully you shoulder is better, pop gun arm Man Pennington
ad No. I like that we'll have more NFL and
more college football and National Championship Game, which is over
in George's your your two time defending champion. But big
news out of the NBA today, And you know, I
feel like we jinxed them because just when we started
talking about how impressed we were with the Nets being

(34:02):
able to take care of business and be all about basketball, right,
they had a big, long, twelve game win streak. They
become one of the best teams in the NBA, and
all on the back of Kevin Durant, who was so good,
and hey, I was really impressed. I didn't think the
NETS could focus on basketball for that long and I
was impressed. It's like, hey, three and a half weeks,
that's pretty impressed. It pretty impressive. But what did I

(34:23):
say was the real part of this story. The NBA
season is long. It's long, long, and so many things
can happen because Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are not
long haul type players. And like that, I mean long
haul one season. And it's not just the off the
court knucklehead stuff they find themselves wrapped up in. Is

(34:46):
that these guys get hurt a lot Kevin Durant gets
hurt a lot. Since it's torn achilles. He's gotten hurt
each of the last couple of seasons. He's missed a
good chunk of time. It's not to the where he's
injury prone, but it's how long will he stay upright
before something winds up happening. That's a big It's a

(35:08):
big reason why I said I still can't believe in
the Nets because as good as they are, okay, they're
playing well, I can't. I can't say anything, say anything
bad about them. I never thought they would get to
this point. Kevin Durant has playing fend. He's jumped into
the m v P discussion, but he's thirty four now
and his games played the last four seasons. Are you
go back to the season he didn't play at all
thirty five games, fifty five games, and now he's at

(35:31):
thirty nine games where he's going to now miss at
least the next month with a knee injury with a
sprained m c L and maybe it's a month, maybe
it's longer. It's the same thing with why I couldn't
pick the Pelicans to come out of the West and
go to the NBA Finals, because I can't trust Zion's
going to be healthy. It's hard for me to trust
Kadi and Kyrie. But it's not just the off the
court stuff. It's these guys get hurt. You know, Kyrie

(35:52):
has been healthy so far when he's on the court,
but Kadie gets hurt. He has been injured a few times.
And and to think that, Okay, he's gonna make it
all the way through the season and stay through and
have a huge long playoff run all the way through
the NBA Finals. The guy's thirty four. Now, I don't
know that he has that in him. I don't know
that he does. It's hard for older players. Now Chris
Paul as great as he was two years ago, when

(36:14):
did he run out of gas right beginning the NBA Finals,
right when you can't run out of gas? And this
is him him being healthy all the way through. Now
you got Durant who gets hurt. That's why it's I
can't trust the nets. A couple of reasons. But we've
talked about with the NBA, we embraced the performances and
the big games on a night tonight basis, but you
also have to temper that excitement enthusiasm, and folks get

(36:37):
mad about it, right because with the nets it was
all right, showed them their respect or whatever. It's like, Okay,
it's a couple of weeks, it's a couple of winning weeks.
You can string that together depending on the schedule, spacing,
a little bit of rest, whatever. But you're gonna have
this type of circumstance through the year. You mentioned Zion.
We look at the Lakers, Lebron not playing tonight, Anthony Davis.
They're hoping to ramp back up, but how when have

(36:58):
we heard that before? Almost every season he's been in
the NBA, right, So you know there's going to be
a stretch whereby these players aren't available and for the
sake of the playoff seating, for the most part, it
doesn't matter a little bit of the home court advantage.
And we can get into that a little bit. And
you know, we obviously had the issue with the NFL

(37:19):
on the A f C side and trying to figure
out where when coin flips are gonna come in or
where there's neutral sites or whatever. But for the NBA,
other than the gate, and that's obviously no small, small,
small thing. When we're talking about adding an extra couple
of games over a playoff run to the coffers of

(37:41):
Obviously things get split in the playoffs or whatever, but
it's still revenue that's coming into your place, So I
don't discount that. But you have plenty of time to
make up those couple of games to make sure you're
in those top ten, right, so you can miss like
Kevin Durant could theoretically need to miss two weeks, he
could miss a month. And how much material effect is
they're going to be on their seating ramping up into

(38:04):
the playoffs? Yeah, well it's material effect is if he's
out now, how much longer he's out? Is he going
to be healthy for the playoffs? Is this where he
comes back? Or does he turn his knee? I mean
this is That's the thing about Ken, that's are you
gonna be healthy during the marathon of the playoffs? When
they needed? Like they said, he and heavy, he's my brother.
The road is long, Twitter, and how about a Fresca
Mike and swollen dome? What's next for Aaron Rodgers? He

(38:26):
basically told us that's next on Fox
