(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Now. I'm just picturing
Harmon being the guy getting killed in Friday the Thirteenth,
(00:43):
Part two, getting knocked down the stairs all the way through,
and and and just you doing that noise all the
way down that you land. They're gonna operate in Las Vegas.
You know Halloween horror nights year round. There might be
a place are a scary sheep when I retire from
this radio thing. There might be, but you gotta work
(01:05):
at that man like I could spend twenty three grand
on an outfit like that wolf guy the other night.
God to listen to all show. Check out the podcast.
You know it's funny. You talked about Halloween horror knights,
which you know to to everybody know in California, and
you know where where there's um, different Halloween horror you
(01:27):
see you know a crossing you know Florida two they
have it. Sure, Um, there's a big Halloween Horror Knights
where they have these big haunted houses that you walk through.
It's a kind of like amaze and people come out
and scare the living crap out of you, and it's awesome.
It's so much fun. And I asked the people because
the Halloween house was so interesting because it's all scenes
(01:48):
from the first movie and there's so many different Michael
Myers that scared the crap out of you, you know.
I went outside. I actually saw a couple of people
who were dressed like the characters that were outside, like
on a break and uh and and because one of
them is dressed like Michael Myke, except he doesn't have
the mask on. And one of them dressed like one
of the girls who gets the one who gets uh
uh killed with the telephone uh sorry spoiler with a
(02:12):
telephone cord. And I saw them and I said, hey, thanks,
you guys a question. They said, yeah, sure, you know,
they're all like in their early twenties, are all actors
and everything. And I said, how long is your shift here?
Because it seems like it's pretty insistent that year out
and scary and moving around. They said, oh, it's insane.
We work an hour at a time, and then they
and then they get a long break because it's so
(02:32):
intense with them having to come out and consistently scare
people or you know, every every twenty seconds they're resetting
a scene where they have to you know, like every
few people who come in every twenty seconds. All right,
she's got to get strangled with the phone cord and
Michael's got to come out with a knife and scare somebody.
And they go, we we work for an hour. I go,
I can't even imagine doing it an hour. I gotta
think like after fifteen minutes, your cook, And they said, oh, yeah,
(02:54):
we are after fifteen minutes. It's like you're just going
on on muscle memory and going through and trying to
do it because it's really really hard to go through that,
and they need breaks. Like it's like it's so it's
it's so full attention because you can't break character. You know,
you can't break character. You gotta you know, continue to
to scare people. You can't just go yeah, you go,
what out wave do you that's nice. I'm gonna have
a cigarette right now. No, you gotta stay in it
(03:15):
all the way through. Yeah. I do actually feel a
little bit um better about it because it's something that
has been in the back of my mind. It's not
my uh how should we say a cup of tea?
Like I'm not paying and sign it up for that?
Just not my not my bag. But for those that
love it, go through it. But you really don't want
method actors when you're talking about murderous rampages and things
(03:37):
like that. It's nice that they can step out of character,
have a smoke and maybe talk about the Jets failures
or whatever the case, maybe Twitter and out about a
Fresco Mike gets swollen down the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harman. Yeah, happy Friday. That'd be
Friday the thirteen. I feel like I should say that'd
be Friday. Yeah, I knew that was coming. Ken rolls
(04:01):
off right there, doesn't it? It does? Yeah? Absolutely, you know,
we do a four hour show and I'm gonna get
to watch I think four Friday the thirteenth movies. I'm
one of my iPads in front of me, because like
these movies are like an hour and eight minutes long.
It's it's it's like sitting here watching the Denver Nuggets
and the l A Clippers. Oh Man, Denver. Yeah, that's
(04:22):
a great game. You know, I got that on my
other iPad right now. Two Nuggets have the lead with
seven and a half to go in the fourth quarter. Uh,
this is a night for the Denver Nuggets. With DeAndre
Jordan's starting at center. He's got eight points. This is
a non Yokich game, uh for them, and they are
up by seven for the Clippers Kawhi Leonard with twenty.
(04:45):
You know, I'm surprised, just real quick. I'm surprised because
the biggest thing, the biggest surprise for me this week
was when we talked to Mark Medina, who covers the
NBA for NBA dot com and and he had a
big mid season beat writer's review of the NBA season
to this point, great stuff. I'm on Twitter at mark
g Underscore. Medina comes on the show every week and
he surveyed every other beat writer for the NBA and
(05:08):
the number of people who came back with the Clippers
are their favorite team to make a run in the
second half and get to the NBA Finals. I mean,
I'm like, wait, wait, watch what if the what if
the Clippers shown you other than year three of well
Kauai and Paul George. They gotta get it done at
some point. I mean, what have they shown you other
(05:30):
than Hey, the potential for them is great. This is
three years now. This is three years and Kauai was
out and he's back. And really, the Clippers, I mean,
I know that it's a it's a down here in
the West, but you've got some really confident teams that
are younger and more athletic, that are winning more games
and and I don't know if it's just the hangover
of well, maybe the net because we watched the Nets
put it together finally with k D and Kyrie until
(05:53):
Kevin Durant got hurt a few days ago, and we're
seeing the same thing for the Clippers. I'm stunned at that.
I really am surprised. The Clippers were the team, not
the Grizzlies. John Rant not, well, when the Pelicans get
to get Zion Williamson back, not the Nuggets who are
making a run up and and and and watching Jamal
Murray play better and better. But the Clippers surprised with that. Well,
I think there's a couple of things still enamored with
(06:14):
the idea of the depth of this roster. Okay, cool, Uh,
they all have to actually play together for some consistency.
The other is, look, beat writers are too, are are
subject to what we are in sports dock, radio and television.
They too like to be part of hot take nonsense
and group thinks sometimes so they don't want to be
(06:35):
wrong again. On the Clippers, right, it's the insert whatever
take you've heard somebody have for say, ten to fifteen
years on radio or television. Eventually they're probably gonna be
right about it, or if it goes wrong, it's like, well,
all signs where this was the breakthrough, right, the Brooklyn
Nets people that were still on board that and saying
(06:55):
all right, they're gonna come together. Likewise, the Clippers, as
you know, street lights over over sights, Yes, because I
have nobody making you know over Yeah, they have nobody
with those kind of cars. That was the running joke,
and I hope the Clippers internally understood the tongue in
cheek billboard advertising campaign that set them back a lot
(07:18):
of money across l A when they did that but
the point being that, you know, sometimes there's just a stubbornness, right,
people that every year picked the Chargers to win at
all for the last five years, seven years. Damnit, They're
gonna break through and it's not gonna require a December
run up for them to get into the playoffs. Oh Man,
(07:40):
Twitter and out about a Fresca Mike hats swollen Dome.
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harman
Live from the ti erect dot Com studios. Uh, looking ahead.
You know we've talked a lot about the different games.
Super wild Card again, say Super wild Card Weekend. We've
given you some of our upset special picks. The game
of the week, I guarantee you was going to be
(08:01):
Jaguars and the Charges, the points on the board, the
quarterback play. It's more to all the storylines. I don't
know how many points they'll be, but I know there's
just so many talking points that come out of it.
And at the head of the snake is Brandon Stay.
Just when you think I'm gonna do something to help
my team win, I'm gonna go the other way. Well,
(08:21):
but as much as we love the quarterbacks, right, both
Herbert and Trevor Lawrence. We love some component parts, whether
they're your fantasy heroes or whatever else. Like Doug Peterson,
maybe you've got an affinity towards him and what he's
been able to do and quickly resurrect a squad that
Irvian Meyer did everything he could to tear as under.
All of these things come in and for the Chargers,
(08:42):
like I said, Ram's got, there's they want to they
want to get over. Maybe Austin Ekeler won your fantasy league,
so you love him. Keenan Allen stats for days. All
of those things come to play, but it's it's the
exciting game with all the storylines and if it goes
horribly wrong for the l A team, yeah, you know
what you're leading with on Monday, you know, and and
(09:03):
and to get past. So we have the you have
the upset games, you have that game in the night,
and then the other three games you can all kind
of pool together. Because I would love to be able
to pick the Seahawks over the Niners, right, I'd love
to I'd love to be able to pick the Dolphins
and upset over the Bills. I'd love to be able
to pick the Ravens. In an upset over the Bengals
and have to watch Lamar Jackson dance for another week
(09:26):
and go, yeah, still not healthy, still not coming back.
I don't care what the team is telling you. I'm
not playing. I would love to see that drama go
another week. You know what, That one has gotten kind
of trendy, though it happens right the other two. It's
a question of points spread, belief and especially the early game.
All Right, if it gets really kind of odd with
the weather and stuff, and say the Seahawks get on top,
(09:47):
what's brock pretty got, I get it, But you're still
expecting the forty niners to win. The Baltimore Cincinnati game
is one that I started seeing a lot of groundswell
of support that Baltimore somehow is going to break out
of their twelve pointing game shell. Yeah, and to compete
with Cincinnati here. It's like it's like, you know, and
and and that's that's the thing about this game, is
(10:08):
that okay on the okay maybe, but you know their
division rivals, Um, guys, the Bengals are terrific, all right.
I know that we think the Bengals and they'll turn
back into the bank. The Bengals are terrific, right they were.
I know we only saw the first half of the
of of a quarter of the game against Buffalo, but
they were clearly the better team, all right, they they
(10:29):
they had more jump, They're fantastic. The Ravens are completely limited.
They're not coming into this game to win, right. I
think those I think those games are gonna be really boring.
Now the weather is gonna make Seahawks forty nine is
a little bit interesting, but wow, I don't know. If
the Seahawks get to ten points, that's gonna be really
really difficult. The Niners are rolling. They should win this game.
(10:50):
I don't know. The games property in a hole. DK
Metcalf gets to throw people around with no consequence. Again,
I mean there's an opportunity. No, that's true. If dk
Metcalf's gets to do that two players after playing in
the face, you know, if he can do that and
suddenly all the Niners defensive players drop and there's no
flags being called, I'm with you on Matt boy. Look
(11:12):
at it could be like a Scythi movie where he,
you know, he pokes the leader and they all fall down.
He's a one man crew. He does like the Spock
thing from Star Wars, from Star Trek, where he he
just puts his hand on his shoulder. People just death
grip for all of them. I'd love to see that.
But the Niners are just too good. The Seahawks have
been Look, they've been a great story and Geno Smith
(11:34):
has been a great story this year. And and for
them to get where they are without Russell Wilson, it's
really vindication and and and but this is an overachieving
team that is now completely out of its lead against
the forty Niners. Same thing with the Dolphins and the Bills. Right, Hey,
they were able to beat the Jets last week? Whoop
de do they beat the Jets? Everybody beat the Jets
the last half of the season. Um, And they're gonna
(11:55):
try to go into Buffalo with Skyler Thompson who's throwing
helium balls and and and win this game. It's not happening.
And the same thing for the Ravens and the Bengals. Yes,
it's Sunday night, it's on. It's it's the national Game
on NBC. And I get all, they're all national games,
but you know, it's the big game on NBC Sunday night.
But I mean the Ravens, they're just coming in with
one hand tie behind their back. They're not gonna have
(12:16):
Lamar Jackson. How are they going to do this? This
should the Bengal should get up fourteen nothing early and
cruise from there. Again, I'd love to pick all of
those teams in an upset, but I just can't see it.
They're just they're just not equipped with these heavyweights they're
playing on Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, it really comes down
to I'll take the last one. The other two. I
think the winds are there Seattle again, maybe it becomes
(12:39):
a curiosity. I think with Baltimore is from a defensive standpoint,
they might be able to muddy it up a bit right,
third best defense in the game at eighteen point five.
Roquan Smith gets this hundred million dollars. He's at all
All Pro first Team. Keep on going down the line,
former Bear, uh because when he goes to the Hall
of Fame and he's a Chicago Bear Hall of Famer,
(13:01):
you know. But but but they're good against the run,
and what can't Cincinnati do terribly well this year? Run
the football? And they're also down to offensive lineman, so
opportunity a little for the defense to muddy this up.
Andrews is back, Dobbins is back after taking the week off.
I don't know how much it helps, because I don't
(13:23):
know how much the offense can generate. Is it going
to be able to be a Justin Tucker game. I
just don't expect this one to be a blowout. I've seen,
you know, some of the projections of all right, here's
a thirty point barriers like, I don't think so. I
think Hardball and and company are good enough to muck
it up. Are they good enough to win it? I
don't know that Hunley's get that play in him. I
(13:45):
know a lot of people that believe in him. Friends
of mine that that work out of Baltimore, you know
that have watched him a lot, think it's there. It's like,
the proof isn't there on tape. Right, We've watched this offense,
and I gotta tell you, you know, when we get
into our offseason, what people need to do. You know,
I've talked about Ballard and hiring someone else to get
to do the quarterback stuff. You get to sign off
(14:06):
on everything else someone else does the quarterback. Baltimore needs
someone else to sign off on wide receivers because they
keep drafting them and they all stink or can't stay healthy.
You get to stay the GM, but you know what,
you get to pick the rest of the roster wide
receiver's mind. I'm ballotting seven of them like a fantasy team. Okay,
(14:27):
so let's go Twitter and out about a Fresco Mike
gets swollen Dome The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon live from the Tirac dot Coms do again.
I'd love to see it. I'd love to pick those
I think that's gonna be three blowouts. Like I think
the combined score of those three games is gonna be
like and ten to Like that's gonna be the score
(14:47):
of those games. You know what? Write that down? If
I okay, now, if I'm next hour, when when when
Todd Ferman joins, ask him if I say, kind of
odds you'd get for those total number of points scored
by the Seahawks, Dolphins and Ravens And I put it
at forty? Wow, what would you take? The over the
(15:09):
under on that Sea Hall three and remembering a third
I put you I put it at forty would you
take the over or the other. That's one is delicious theater.

why the number seven is such a big deal in
the world of sports? Tonight, Plus, guess who's coming back
to the NFL after we thought he was gonna be leaving.
(15:56):
He's already gone. That's next to the tire Act dot
Com Studios Jason and Mike Fox and his name is Johnson.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with
My best friend Mike Harmon Happy Friday, the thirteen. You know.
(16:25):
Coming up next hour on the show, we have the
Progressive Play of the Night, in which we celebrate a bit,
you know, a big play of the night, whether it's
gonna be you know, a Jalen Brunson hoop or something
from the Warriors big win over the UH Spurs. It's
set an NBA attendance record tonight. But could we do
a play of the night that's a Jason Vorhees kill
from Friday, the thirteenth Marathon that's going on right now.
(16:46):
It is Friday, right, Can we get a play of
the night from Jason Vorhees? Yeah, it's a question of
whether it falls in line with the positivity that they're
trying to put out. But you know, I gotta dig
what you're saying there, I mean, ty shure, what do
you think it can we can we get a Jason
Voorkis playing the night or No? I think we can
absolutely do that. We'll just look for his best one,
(17:07):
right Well, it's gotta be a good one. It's gotta
be a good one. Some top contenders are definitely the
Wheelchair I know we like that. Yeah, the guy going
down to say that's a good one. So do you
remember the Corkscrew one? Oh? The Corkscrew one is good
ad movie. It's how about the girl that goes flying
through the second story window. That's a good one because
we get the we get the glass breaking sound. That's
(17:27):
a good One's a good effect. Uh, the guy from
part three the first killing his in his hockey mask.
He shoots him in the eye with a with a
big dart gun. Like that's a good one. I mean,
that is a that is a good historical piece that
we should problem could go to the underrated space ones too.
Oh man, I don't know. See Jason and space, man,
(17:49):
that's what you could hear him scream. That's the best
of it. See, that's a that's the most polarizing one. Man.
Jason in space, right, I mean, I like, Jason takes
Manhattan even though they shot an he yelled, fuck, I
mean they shot Jason takes Manhattan and Vancouver. So I mean,
come on, really so but I can tax purposes, buddy,
you know. But but I mean Jason and space is
I mean Jason, it's space. I mean the fact that
(18:11):
he just you know, takes to being on a spaceship
so easily, like yeah, I don't know where I am,
I'm on a spaceship, gonna go kill some people, just
showing how easy it really is to do without the training.
I mean, there's no I mean, here I am, and
there's oh wait, now now I got an idea. Now
I got an idea. Hang on, hang on, Oh, this
is a patent bending, patent bending movie monster training. Let's um,
(18:37):
let's talk to FERRANTI see what he's going his movie
monster training, where you know, people want to be these
big characters in horror movies like Jason or Michael Myers
or Freddy Krueger, like like search good reality show, like
Search for the next great movie monster. And it's all
these people that have ideas and they show up and
(18:57):
they have to do things like let me see you
jump through this window and and use this knife, and
and and and make this kill here right. Obviously stuntmen creativity,
because you have to come with your idea, yes, and
then you get to work with people like and what's
that one reality show where they do all the monsters
and whatever? U is the sci fi for years? Yeah?
(19:21):
That's uh, I forget what it was. And then Dave
Navarro was on there doing tattoos afterwards. I don't really,
but you have these you have the mannequins all set
up with blood in them, like hey, and you get
extra points for good strikes, like oh, if you just
glance the shoulder, we gotta do the takeover again. But
if you get it right now, you know, then the blood,
(19:41):
the fake blood spurts out. I think that. I think
that's a show. I'm gonna go out on a limb
and say the sensors are already uh commiserating to stop
you from this saying it would Did we put it
on cable? I mean, come on, I mean it's fine.
We put it on cable or streams, it's one of those.
But you have all these people like they pick because
it's like an American idol thing, right, Like you have
these people show up in costume with ideas for the
(20:04):
next great sea, the next great movie monster right, Oh
what are you? They call me ball and chain, So
you have a ball and chain? Yeah, I kill people
in the ball and chain. Okay, that's great. Let me
see a move, all right. But they get like the
top ten ones they like, they go, hey, guess what
you're going to monster camp. They all go crazy and
you pick like the best ten. You whittle it down
(20:24):
and the winner gets They back it and they shoot
a movie with that person being the monster in it.
This is a great idea, isn't it. I gotta dig that.
That's good work shopping. And you know the big question
is from the voting panel. One, who do we get,
uh Rob Zombie. Maybe in the middle of it, you
have to get some like Robert England. Of course he
(20:45):
would have to be on it, but that but he
he might be the guy that you need to kind
of lean on to as you you fairing out how
how you're judging goes, because you know, do you want
someone who's just all action and and just killing machine
or do you need to have some pithy commentary and
one liners along the way? Well, I think the silent
(21:06):
I think the silent killer is always the big one,
is always a good because he's just so mysterious and
he makes But but that could be part of it, right,
it comes down to the end. You have the silent
really strong whatever he is, versus a guy that has
the one liners that won't shut up. I mean maybe,
I mean maybe that maybe it comes down to the
two of them. That's a show. That's a show. I
gotta I gotta tweet that out so nobody steals that idea,
(21:28):
because if they do, then we can sue them make
a lot of money on it. I think that'll work
pretty well. I like hit it on. Uh well, um,
of course, We'll start with the Jason Voories playing the
night coming up next hour on the show, The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon Live from the tirerac dot
Com Studios. Hey, guess who's coming back. I know it's insane,
we didn't think he was coming back and part of
(21:49):
a positivity Friday night here. I give him a lot
of credit because he could have walked away and nobody
would have said anything. But Sean McVeigh is coming back
next season for the Los Angeles Rams. There was a
lot of talk at the end of the season. He
had done interviews saying I don't know what I want.
I might be a little burned out. I might want
to walk away. This is the storyline that that kind
(22:11):
of was launched after the Super Bowl last year, after
the Rams one and the whole running back, running back
scaring it. I had some big horror monster. They're just
him yelling run it back at you. Uh, you know,
the whole running back thing and and and you know.
But maybe he might be going to TV for a
couple of years to to to just sit back and
rest and not worry about burnout, because he's got a
(22:32):
long ass career as an NFL head coach continuing on
because he can sit out for two years come back.
He's still in his thirties and he's gonna coach for
the next thirty years after this, so there is that
for him. But he decided to come back when when
television was beckoning, and he could have gone. And I
give him all the credit in the world, man, because
it would have been easy to walk away. Because the
(22:53):
Rams aren't gonna win for a couple of years. You know,
they're hitting the end of the run. They had a
great five year run that was two super Bowl in
one championship and they probably could have another one if
Jared Goff was any good. But they have to pay now.
They don't have the draft picks. The free agent signings
have kind of dried up a little bit. They have
a lot of bad money tied up in older contracts
(23:14):
and Matthew Stafford as one of the worst contracts in
the NFL. It's gonna be difficult. This was the time
to walk away, right, Okay, we won. I came back
to try to validate and and and and defend the
Super Bowl title. Instead, we had our worst season for
any defending Super Bowl champion. He could have walked away,
but coming back, he's got a lot of guts and
(23:34):
and that that's gonna echo through the organization through the players. Hey,
coach knows we had it rough and he could have left,
and he still is coming back. And in a weird way,
it kind of worked out for the Rams that they
were actually this bad, because I know as competitive as
Sean McVeigh is, I'm sure he thought, I can't leave
the team like this. I can't leave after this. I
(23:54):
gotta get us back to where we are, to where
we were close to elite status or after another playoff run.
And if I do that, then I can walk away
for a couple of years. But I'm not gonna walk
away now when the team clearly had a very down
year and I could easily just cut and run and go.
I give him a lot of credit for that, man,
because it would have been very easy to make the
other call. Yeah. See, I don't like the fact that
(24:17):
you're giving him this altruistic pitch to this. Well, I
couldn't leave the team like now. Now, how about part
of it was maybe he heard the echoes of wow,
he's running away after a hard year, and we know
he had the interview that we talked about with Jane
(24:38):
Glazer before the season, talking about where he was in
his personal life, the stressing of balance and something we
talked about quite a bit, right and all everybody's trying
to achieve a little of that. So hopefully mentally physically
everything's okay, right, because you don't know everything that's going
on with someone, so you hope that you know that
part of it checks out and he's good with his people. Clearly, Uh,
(25:01):
there was a quick period here for this to wrap up.
Doesn't mean it was a quick decision. I mean this
could have been weighing on him the entire season in
the background. Uh, also with Jared Goff. He may not
like Jared Goff. Wonder Boy also needed to you know,
produce more than three points as a coach and wizard dude,
they could have put Seawan man you did that game
(25:23):
and they might have won. I mean that cont it
did he you just I mean, that's a tough decision
to put Seawan Mannon in at that point. Sean Mannon,
it's not. But I mean, really you could have done
that because but if you're gonna put it all awful, well,
but if you're gonna put it all on the quarterback.
I take an exception to that golf forever. Look so
(25:44):
the and obviously you know we talked about you know,
where do you assign blame? We were doing something like
there was a big issue in one of my daughter's
classes today, and I'm like, well, it's like everything it
kind of try to take everybody's piece of it, and
when when something goes wrong, it's not always just one person,
(26:04):
like everybody could have had a role in this. Likewise,
the Rams not winning that super Bowl, it's more than
just say, ah, it's that guy's fault, even though they
exiled him and brought in Matt Stafford and it worked
right because you got your super Bowl, there's hell to
pay for it. And one of the things here like
I hope he didn't get bullied back in for the
thought of wow, they're gonna think I'm I'm a terrible
(26:25):
person or I'm a coward or a quitter or whatever,
because because it goes there. No, I mean, you had
you're good. You know the old line, you only sing
when you're winning, right, everybody's happy, But otherwise it's misery.
Look look at after the damar Hamlin incident, the best
of all worlds, donations and camaraderie and brotherhood solidarity, a
(26:46):
lot of people having conversations at the proverbial water cooler
or smoke break location at their respective workplaces, and then
forty eight hours later it was damn it coin flips
and neutral site eats and I hate you, I hate
Roger Goodell, and I hate everybody. That's the way it works.
But for Sean McVeigh in this instance, as he announces
(27:09):
to come back, I look, I love watching the guy coach.
You know you you love watching the chess match works,
So certainly the game's better for him being in it.
Just you know, I I don't. I don't think it's
the I'm leaving them in the lurch would rank in
the top twenty things that would have been on his
list of bingo moments to come back for. No, but look,
(27:31):
but he you know, like this, how terri Well, No,
but that. But but that's part of who he is, though,
I mean, and he wants to show that, and I
know that. Look, it's it's not as altruistic as that,
but I know that's a big part of it. I
don't want what what am I as a coach. If
I'm leaving the team right now, well no, but that's
the point, right, It's reputation and optics of Wow, I
rolled on these guys when things got tough. Yeah, because
(27:56):
because then what happens. He goes to TV and you
get stories of all, hey, coach seemed like he was
half in, half out the whole time. You're gonna get
a lot of stuff like that. We didn't know if
he was around, he missed. But hey, I'm staying here.
I'm committed. I mean that that shows you something, that
shows you something from the guy that hey, I understand this,
and I understand this is a bad optic, This could
(28:16):
be a bad looking everything. I'm just gonna stay and
I'm in for this to try to try to get
it going again. I mean, look, because it would have
been a real easy decision to make. Look, I can go, man,
I've achieved two super Bowls, I won one. No one's
I mean, I'm I'm teflon. Everything is just bounce right
off me. But just in case, all right, I'm gonna
do this for one more year. At I think it
left it would have been a bad look. Uh, it
(28:39):
would have been I think it. I think I think
it would have taken a shot shot at him at
least short term. Yeah, that other coaches dip out that
were early in their careers, most famously two guys with
the Raiders. Right, but he's but he's tipping out with
two Super Bowl appearances and a child ship dipping out
with Okay, you about when the rosters getting bad and
(29:01):
you had a bad season. When it went bad, you
cut people. But that's exactly what it would have been.
All right, this is bad. We don't have any draft
picks because we brought in Stafford. We don't know if
he's you know, he's gonna come back, but is he
gonna be a hundred percent? I don't know. I don't
have any picks, we don't have any money, and we
don't have any depth because of the way we put
built this together. You know what, see all in hell,
(29:23):
I'm out. Yeah, it's a bad look. You had Markinson
signed the phony transfer order. You talked to the log book.
I want to know you. Good Man comes up again. Baby.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
(29:46):
Radio AP Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
my bas friend Mike Harmon live from the tire rack
dot Com studios. As we are closing in ever closer
to Super wild Card weekend. In the end, uh, Mike
and I do it every week we give you our
upset special picks for the week in the NFL. And
(30:08):
I'm taking my twenty six and thirteen mark this year,
which is like uber Vegas successful twenty six and thirteen
with the number picking the upset specials and my first one,
I'm gonna give you my Carmen. Not Cleveland. That would
be an upset of epic proportions. It would be Cleveland
(30:29):
with Tim Tebow is able to win a game, you'd
right now give me the Giants and three and a
half over Minnesota. The Giants defensive line is so dominant.
They have just been on a tear the last few weeks.
They're gonna pressure Kirk Cousins, They're gonna get sacks, They're
(30:50):
gonna get turnovers. Daniel Jones is gonna have one of
those games where he runs for seventy yards. The Giants
win at twenty to seventeen with a last couple of
minute defensive stand where they're going to get a turnover
or the Vikings turn it over on downs. Give me
the Giants, Hey, giants on the field, but I'll still
take the three and a half. Look at you with
(31:12):
the g man, you know, at the Giants to win.
Being a Jets fan, I don't want to see the
Giants win. But tells you what, I believe that's a
longer therapy session that we don't have time four on
a Friday night for you as your Jets fan. You know,
Kirk Cousins is one of only two other NFC quarterbacks
(31:34):
in the playoffs that have a playoff win. He just
got one. DA's got one, Tom Brady thirty five and
uh twelve, Uh everybody else. Welcome to the playoffs. Welcome
to the playoffs, kind of like welcome to you know,
good morning Baltimore. You can start singing like that. Um look,
that's a trendy one. So that one I I had
(31:55):
marked down and I was like, everybody's starting to jump
outboard the giant. I was trying to help my neighbor
because he was all excited because he was all down
in the mouth to start the season, I'm like, you're
in the playoffs. He goes, No, they're gonna lose, and
they're gonna lose big like the hell man, how about
some positivity? Why so fatalistic here in the new year
with your squad. I hope it's a close game. I do, uh,
(32:19):
the one I'm looking at as we we flow through
a little bit, we've we've kind of gone around the map.
I think there's just that plus nine and a half
for Seattle at San Francisco, just because I think the
weather plays and Walker makes a player two with his legs,
they're not winning the game out right. I can't go
(32:39):
that crazy because I don't know that I agree with
Cole that it's all chalk. But we already did the
charge Jacksonville Narrow Home Dog couple hours ago as pick
number one. So pick number two is g no no
plus nine and a half plus nine and a half.
(32:59):
And look, if things really get weird and brock Purty
can be exposed as I don't know whatever whatever people
thinking could be exposed as you know, a jag that
just fit the suit, then away you go. But I
think there's just too much depth on San Francisco to
uh to up end them all together. Although Pete Carroll
(33:20):
is playing it well, boy, it's just sad. We gotta
play San Francisco. Give me the Bucks getting three over
the Cowboys. Yeah, buddy, this is one of those games
the Cowboys lose. They're not coming in with great confidence.
(33:41):
They do their level best to always make things look
like they are a second away from absolute implosion. They're
coming off a really bad effort last week. Jerry Jones
questioning the effort doing interviews this week talking about Mike
McCarthy's job status Tampa Bay. They have this is there.
(34:02):
They could steal time for one day, right, this is
this is there. This is there. We can be heroes.
We can steal time for just one day. Give me
Tom Brady with enough clutch to win one more playoff
game for the Bucks, and the Bucks to defense makes
it just difficult enough for the Cowboys. Look, they're gonna
put it all on Dak Prescott to win this game, right,
(34:24):
They're gonna. They're gonna they're gonna throw everything in stopping
the running game and making Dak win because they know
Dak's gonna give you the football. So the defense is
gonna do enough. It's gonna be close, but give me
Tampa on Monday night in the biggest marquee game at
home over the Cowboys that we're talking about. One more
week for Tom Brady and the Cowboys going home again
(34:47):
Tampa Bay on the field. But again, I'm still not
gonna say no to the three points. No, absolutely not.
Like Julio Jones, looks like he's gonna be able to
ramp up wide receivers that think. You know, the offensive
line hasn't been eight, but I think you get a
little more support in the run game. Leonard four Nets
perhaps gives you a little bit of that that playoff
magic and big effort with a little bit of white
(35:10):
mixed in. And I think Brady stands in the pocket
a little longer. Vita Villa and that defensive line. Yeah,
Monday night, we we may watch the whole Dallas meltdown
and waiting for postgame. Jerry Jones, I met you before
I took the Jags plus two and a half against
the Chargers. The Mike Williams thing doesn't sit, hasn't sat
(35:30):
well all week, and now it's confirmed that he's unavailable
and maybe done for the year at this point. With
a fracture in his back, so uh coaching edge, Peterson
almost said Peterman, uh, and Trevor Lawrence and company. While
the offense at times uh confuses me like it did
against Tennessee, they do just enough in what is a
(35:51):
lower scoring game than most expect. I'll take the under
on that forty six and a half. No Elane, you're fired.
She's sixty two today. She is the English patient sucked, Oh,
you're fired, turning it out about a Fresca Mike and
swollen them Coming up next, all more big breakdown a
wild card weekend. What coaches in the most dangerous being
(36:14):
