(01:26):
g oh telling people it's okay to not be okay. Uh.
Great stuff, great conversation with him and Jay. You can
find that on Jay's Twitter page at Jay Glazer. We
were talking about after Jay, we talked big quarterback news.
Look at all the O c's and DC is getting
fired today. It's your fault. We're not playing not in
mine and I'm the head coach, so I can fire you.
(01:47):
So we're playing a little bit of quarterback matchmaker here
with all these quarterbacks could be available in the off season.
Where is the best fit forget about trade and trade
packages and would they give up? No, where's the best fit?
We told you Lamar Jackson and New England. That was
a that's the best fit for Lamar. Now will they
trade him there? That's the thing. But Lamar New England
(02:09):
that's the best fit. Now, what about Aaron Rodgers? What
about Aaron Rodger wants to continue playing is basically said
goodbye to Green Bay. Allegedly did he where? Well he
doesn't he kind of. That's the thing. He does this
every year, the same song and dance, just like his predecessor,
And I think the answer is still gonna be the same,
(02:31):
except the name checked all these guys that he wants
to stay with, you know, for continuity, and they're all old.
The only guy I want back is Marcedes Lewis because
he's ageless and timeless. And if you can guarantee me
that Buck tr he can play twelve games, that I'll
consider that. The rest of those guys setting him gone
t J clearly Aaron Rodgers saying, yeah, I want to
(02:52):
ride again with my Mercedes. Boy. There are so many
touchdowns that I want to make djuh it was Pebbles, right, Mercedes?
Do you want to that was Pebble Pebbles? No, it
was Van Pebbles Pebbles, No, Van van Pebbles Boy was
a song by Pebbles? All right? Hey, going back all
(03:12):
the way in the nineteen seven off the Pebbles Unact
up Front about front, see my first Barney impression is
pretty good before they replaced Barney. First, the early Barney
was about I don't know about that front. I don't
(03:33):
know about almost not gonna like that front. It sounds like,
you can mark that's Barney all you want. I think
he says, I love you, you love me? Yeah, But
but Barty and Barty did beget the world the first
entertainment vehicle for Selena Gomean. Well, no, that was Barney's.
We're a happy family. We're a happy family. That's the Ramons.
(03:56):
We're a happy family. We're a happy family. Right now,
ty Shirt's head has been and going. Am I finding
pebbles and my finding find whatever? He's filming it. And
so if we're playing matchmaker for Aaron Rodgers, all right,
where is the best place for him where he can
(04:16):
go to a team that is ready, that has all
the weapons he needs. Is not stepping in for alleged
He's not coming into a situation where okay, it's really
not your team. Where can he go? Can he make
it his team or he's got it because he needs playmakers.
One thing you saw from this year, Okay, yes he's
still really good, but he's not one of those guys
that's gonna make everybody better. He's just not that guy anymore.
(04:39):
But can he succeed with a lot of playmakers. He's
got to go someplace has a good defense that can
run the football and as two or three pretty good
wide receiver weapons. He's got to go someplace where he
can play in bad weather, where he can handle the media.
Where is that place? New York Jets. That's the best
(05:02):
and I have confidence he will beat out Zack Wilson
in a quarterback duel. But the best match and again,
you got a lot of money situation going on with
Rogers all this, Uh, the best situation for him is
the Jets. He can handle the media, he can handle
New York. He'll come in as a hero. The team
is gonna stand up and say, whatever you need, we
got you for. He's got three good wide receivers to
(05:23):
throw too. If they wind up keeping Corey Davis. You've
got Breecee Hall coming back from his torn a c l.
You got a great running game. Uh yeah, New York
is the place because if you're Aaron Rodgers, you kind
of also want to see I scratched the itch. I've
been the biggest quarterback in the game for a little while.
I've been doing it in Green Bay. And yes, you
could be a star anywhere in the NFL, but boy
(05:43):
doing it in New York, that might be a little
something special. Jets for Aaron Rodgers, just like jetson Grand
Brett Farve back in two thousand eight, which means it
will be the Jets and Jordan's love in. So we're
almost there. See you just keep going that you can
complete the trifecta. Yeah, occurrent odds. Right now, the Jets
are tied with two other teams for the second best
(06:08):
odds for Rogers next destination. They are the always quarterback
lists Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans, which is kind
of interesting to me. Uh, you know, I I think
there's a better candidate for that. And he put it
posted it on social media once San Francisco says beat it,
(06:28):
uh and trade lance ends up down there, but that's
you know, we might celebrate it. Yeah, he does the Bears,
so we can play there. Well, you know that they've
got that little justin fields thing they would have to
clean up there. Uh. And some have tried to say
that they should trade him for other quarterbacks, like, yes,
let's trade for the same guy who's a couple of
years older, already getting his contract and has had multiple injuries. Yeah,
(06:52):
let's let's just leave that where it is. The Raiders
all good. We have we have a back, we have
a backup quarterback in Zach Wilson. The needs to play iff.
The Raiders have the shortest odds currently four to one
UH to be Rogers next team. I don't think he
goes anywhere. I think it's all the bluster and the
same dance that we've seen the last two years. And
(07:12):
if he actually goes to O t S and training
camp tattah connection with the young receivers, because you saw
it towards the end of the year. Was it perfect, No,
but it was a vast improvement when you saw Watson
and you saw what Dobbs could be. Those two guys
are fairly entertaining. They went and abandoned the run game
(07:34):
at times. So that's a whole other thing they need
to address, both from contract standpoints as well as just
offensive philosophy. Everybody could use another offensive lineman. I don't
care who you are. We do this dance every year
when we start doing our previews. Jason, I was actually
explaining that to Madeline and Eleanor it's like, so what
do you what do you guys get ready for a season?
(07:54):
What do you get to do? It's like I talked
about the offensive line cohesion a lot, and I ename
a lot of players do, but he knows who the
hell they are. And Jason gets mad at me because
I started, like, stop talking about the offensive line. Watch
these teams by week ten? What are we bemoaning the
fact that they don't have five guys that have met
each other. But for the Packers, you know that defense
(08:15):
is obviously not what we anticipated coming into the year,
but they had spots where they looked pretty good. I
think there's there's still an opportunity here to win in
Green Bay. So let him do his appearances, let him
do all the media stuff. Uh, the other guy you
can trade because I think there's a market for him. Okay,
just stop trying to not make Aaron Rodgers to the
(08:38):
Jets happen. Okay we let can we let Aaron Rodgers
to the Jets happen? For the purposes of this art letter,
if you're now gonna take the next opportunity to change
it from the Lamar Jackson in a Jets uniform image
to Aaron Rodgers and the Jets image, then yeah, I
guess have fun with it. Telling man the Pete Davidson
of the NFL every quarterback we're linked with. It's awesome.
(09:00):
Jason sit there. He finally learned how to use the
stylists and draw with pro creating stuff on his iPad.
So he's just now drawing Jets logos all over these
quarter If the Jets are Pete Davidson, what NFL quarterbacks
are his exs? Let's look, Kate Beckinsale would be the um.
Has he supplanted Derek Jeter in that regard because we
(09:22):
used to do we don't talk about Jeter? Nine? Yeah,
I mean now now it's Pete Davidson. Pete Davidson starting
nine might be compete with Derek Jeter starting Do they
get microphones? What did they get? Oh? I don't know.
Is there is there davidsonburg, like you have to turn
in your cell phone? Lame david probably takes pictures Davidson town.
Is that what it would be with that town? Davidson
(09:43):
town Davidson Because if you just say Davidson, people started
thinking to Steph Curry's like, what the hell of those
two doing? What about Otisburg? Otisburg? Anybody place? Look at you?
Anybody places Mr Luthor Otisburg. But he's got ned Beatty
into the show. This techbox has got her own place Otisburg.
All right, I'll rates him, all right. So if there's
your fits for Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers, how about
(10:07):
Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy, Now, you may disagree with me on
this right away, but then when I finish, you're gonna say, yes,
this is where to go. The best fit for Jimmy
Garoppolo is the Miami Dolphins. Think about this for a second, right,
you know the Dolphins, there's gonna be that part of
them that, hey, because they've been this way for a
(10:27):
couple of years. Let's move on from Tua, right, Let's
move on that they haven't believed in him as a quarterback,
and we should move on. But you know what happened.
The first two thirds of the season TOA was really
bleep and good, and the Dolphins offense was really bleep
and good. Then he got a little he fell into it,
He fell into a bit of a down tick, and
then he got hurt and then there went the Dolphins season.
(10:49):
But you saw there was a long time where boy
to A looked really, really good. Right, the guy through
grow touchdowns. This year, all right, he was fantastic. He
had a fantastic year this year. He just didn't stay healthy,
nor did you get a chance to play his way
out of his big slump. Right, that was a couple
of things he didn't really get a chance to do.
But he was for the most part, he was fantastic.
(11:10):
And even when he wasn't that great, he was still dynamic.
He was still pushing the ball downfield near three yards
a week. He was still doing that. But his downtick
when they started losing was well, they lost to the
forty niners. Okay, they lost to the Chargers. Okay, he
lost the Buffalo Okay, you're talking about three of the
best teams in the NFL. That was kind of the
downtick before he got hurt. So there's gonna be the
(11:32):
do we turn away from Tah? Do we not? Do
we really want to break away from Tuah? And part
of it's the health thing, too, is with the concussions,
so you're gonna be split and if you're not gonna
be able to make that big time break and say, Okay,
we're getting away from Tah. Jimmy Garoppolo makes the most
sense because he's he's someone that's coming off his own
injury issues. He's not gonna quite have the market you expect.
(11:56):
And is he someone that the fit there is in
Miami where it's well, hey, we like to, uh, you
come in. We don't really know about his health. We
don't really know about him. If he falters, we could
go to you. And here's Jimmy Garoppolo playing with all
kinds of talent on the outside. Now they have a
running game there as well. Uh, Jimmy Garoppolo because of
how he's fallen a little bit because of his injury issues.
(12:17):
Suddenly Miami is a really good fit. Yes, he'd going
as the backup with a chance to start, and in
the end that maybe his best situation because you've got
other quarterbacks who are out there. The teams are gonna
want ahead him. People are gonna want Derek Carr or
Tom Brady, Rogers, Lamar Jaxon or Justin Fields anybody else
like that. And and suddenly Jimmy's finding himself at the
end of that list. So coming in for a chance
(12:39):
with Miami may wind up being his best pot. Look
at you, you like that? I could tell you like it?
You know, like it despite yourself. No, I like it.
Someone I like another team better. You like Otisberg better.
If Otisberg was a real place, I would vacation there like.
And the s was backwards when he wrote it. He
wrote christon Otisburg and he was wearing the chaunty little hat.
(13:01):
No like ned Baby. It's one of his finest roles
that folks don't remember. They go They often just go
straight to Deliverance or to Rudy. It's like there there's
a there's a wide birth of things that he did.
And then he was on Roseanne. We talked about Roseanne
a little bit the other day with John Goodman stuff. So, um,
you gotta listen to the whole show. People. We we
(13:22):
leave no stone unturned here on Fox Sports Training. But
uh see, because I think I know you, you've got
someone else for the destination that I want Garoppolo in
because I got him going to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Look at you. They're gonna replace Derek Carr with the
same guy, except the guy who's not as healthy, that
(13:43):
would be that would be graders. But you gave Derek
Carr nine years he regressed and yes you had some
of your weapons miss time. Uh due to injury. Of course,
both Waller and Renfro were out. But Jimmy G has
proven successfully not gonna be in San Francisco. They have
their guy in brock Purty, no question about it. Uh.
(14:04):
As we sit here right now, and I know so
many people. Hey, it's a short sample size, like, yeah,
we but I think we've seen enough to say with
Kyle Shanahan, you're intrigued to see what that becomes, particularly
when you're paying him nothing. So when you and you're
you're gonna have other guys coming up for contracts. So
if you can have your starting quarterback again making nothing, uh,
(14:27):
you win. So I'm looking at the reunion with Josh McDaniels.
Is the push here and a guy and of course
Garoppolo's injury history is a huge factor as we look
at the landscape and what kind of offers are going
to be out there. But the familiarity because remember it
was McDaniels that loved himself some Jimmy G. That a
(14:48):
reunion there could be very nice for Las Vegas people.
Oh and I can't wait for Derek Carter go, you're
gonna get rid of me for that bleeping guy. He
goes full Tom Brady, you can go that bleeping guy
over me. Really, that guy he nobody you know what
he would really do that if the defense got better,
they added a couple more functional offensive lineman and that
(15:08):
he stayed healthy. Meanwhile, everybody else is holding up nine fingers,
say you had nine years. Come on, Jason, you know
Derek Carr is gonna be busy trying to beat out
Jack Wilson of course, and were beating Austin Butler out
for the Elvis. You know, No, he's done because he
goes to New York. He's gotta pull the New York accent.
We've always been a big fan of Robert Freakin solid right.
He would actually think he can't do it. No, I
(15:31):
don't think I can. I think he can do he could.
He did it for Austin, but he did. He did it.
He did it for the South, he did it for
for Elvis. He did a careful David Carr is gonna
come after he's got from now. David car is gonna
get on television, and he's gonna bolt the doors to
the to the studio so nobody can get in. He's
gonna say, hey, listen, I want to defend my brother
here for about five minutes, so no one's gonna get on.
You don't cut the commercial. David Carr pick up that
(15:52):
accent when he does his next fifteen minute mom laude
in defense of his brother. Let's go to David Carr
seven seven nine on Fox. Hey, thanks, Rich, I got
a lot of stuff to say here about my brother
who's going to the Jets right now. Okay, so let
me tell So why don't you have everybody just shut
up and turn your televisions up and listen to what
I gotta say. Don't turn it off. Don't you're gonna
miss what I don't turn it off. I'm telling you,
(16:13):
do not turn it off. You turn it off, I'll
come kick your man. Where do you think the Jets play?
The Jets don't play. There's one. There's one team plays
in New York. It's the bleeping Bills. You don't get it.
I'm like, I'm gonna tattooed this to you and for
people that play for the Jets live in Jersey. It's
a lot cheaper to live in Jersey and is to
live in New York and tell you living in the big,
(16:35):
the big. You know what, Listen, I'll explain New York
City real estate to you. Coming up a little bit. Okay,
so you notice front woods and backwards? All right, we'll
do that. Uh So there you go. There's some quarterback
matchmaking for me and Mike Harmon right there, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at how about a fresca?
Mike gets swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmen coming up next. I feel like
(16:56):
this is a reality show. What happens when a wide
receiver tells us offensive coordinator to go blank himself? That's
next right here, Fox Jet. Hey, this is Peple's right line.
I played this song in eight seven. Ry you want
to write in my Mercedes? Boy? What a maroon. Be

Progressive dot com. Well, I feel like Jerry Springer saying
this what happens when a wide receiver tells his offensive
coordinate Goren, go blank himself tomorrow on MORI, you are
(18:04):
not the father, you are not the wide receiver. Yes,
another story, of course, it is the Jets. Uh. If
you remember this middle of the season, while the Jets
were in their big run, when they were good and Uh,
they had beaten the Broncos and that turned out to
be the most expensive victory because Breece Hall and and
and Vera Tucker got hurt and they both missed the
(18:24):
rest of the season. Uh. In practice that week, the
Jets sent wide receiver Elijah Moore home. Now more came
out of his rookie year, one of the better wide
receivers young rookie wide receivers in the National Football League,
and he had a really down year this year and
didn't do a lot um He got some mad. He
was sent home from practice. He requested a trade because
he wasn't getting the ball. He probably remember the story
(18:47):
during the season, shows you the Jets can't have nice things. Hey,
we're five and two. Were great? Oh, now our wide
receiver wants a trade. A little more detail came out
about this from Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic Quote. Elijah
Moore's frustration with not getting the ball spilled into practice
that week. That Thursday, More surprise teammates and coaches by
(19:09):
blowing up on his then offensive coordinator Mike Lafleur, who
has since been let go. He told him to go
blank himself, and you suck. According to multiple people who
witnessed the interaction, la Floor and Sala ultimately decided to
send More home to cool off. That night, he requested
a trade. Now supposedly they made up at some point
during the season. But here it is. Things are as
(19:30):
good as you could possibly get. The Jets are five
and two haven't been this way in years. Things are
so great, and you got a wide receiver telling his
OC to go blank himself. That's great. That's Jets football
right there. They should getting the logo Jets football. Go
blank yourself. I'm gonna ask you this though. Hey, who's
(19:50):
the guy still on the squad right now? Who still
has his job? Yeah? That's right. Oh man, Look if
this doesn't tell you the number one thing I say
all the time, right us all the time, more so
than winning, more so than getting paid, more so than anything.
(20:11):
Wide receivers want the football. They don't care if they're winning,
they don't care if they're getting paid. They want the
ball and they don't care anything else about it. We
could be losing thirty five to nothing. No, as long
as I'm getting the football, you could have a fifty
million dollar contract. Nope, I just want the ball. Wide
receivers want the ball more than anything in the world.
(20:33):
Because here are the Jets. As great as it's been,
things are awesome. He's not getting the ball a lot,
but hey, we're winning. Things are great. Nope, go blank
yourself the floor. I want the football more. You suck
Jets football, everybody. It's Look, it's not a bad strategy.
Uh when when you've been shut out and look, I
(20:55):
just remember it wasn't always necessarily about game planning, right,
It also becomes about the excellence or lack thereof of execution. Now,
could you be more demonstrative as the O C. Could
you call a couple of the quick bubble screens or
or get him involved as well. So many teams and
once aubout a time it was rare that you had
(21:15):
wide receivers running the ball. Now now everybody does that
so much. It's pass a and now it's just a
bad battle to who's the best of those and which
guy can throw the ball downfield when occasionally the opportunity
presents itself. You know, not when Justin Jefferson tries to
get Kirk Cousins killed, that should have gotten everybody fired
there too in Minnesota, not just the d d C
(21:38):
like we saw today, but just the idea with the Jets,
right is that you know that you can scheme things up,
but there are games where a guy's role is going
to be diminished. If he's got a bad attitude. Guess
what he goes from youth soccer and softball and football
all the way through. You got a bad attitude, your
reps are gonna get cut, especially as other guys Garrett
(21:58):
Wilson start to emerge and make themselves the number one.
You were the number one guy last year. Guess what,
they found another guy to compliment you, and he came
in and he became the guy, and he may win
Rookie of the Year. Actually, no, your guys, Sauce probably
win rookie, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Garrett Wilson
win offensive Rookie. There we're gonna just win win everything.
(22:20):
Well he had, he's he's all pro first rookie. I
don't don't. I don't think we split them up into uh,
offense and defense, And I think it's just sauce just
so you can put sauce on the name. But but
for Alijah more like I I understand the frustration, there's
no question about it. But you're a child. Now. He's
(22:40):
the last man standing, at least until they trade him
in the off season or the new offensive coordinators suddenly says, hey,
he's a pivotal part of what we want to do
going forward. But right now he's still a jet. Well. Look,
I'll tell you two things. One coming off that you
realize how good Garrett Wilson actually is the fact that
(23:01):
he could catch eighty passes for a thousand yards in
that offense. No, he's special. The second thing is this.
Just think about this for a second. When I always
say Jets are gonna Jet, just how badly of a
failure this season has been In the last couple of
years have been offensively for the Jets. Right, what have
they done the last years? You know what we're gonna do.
We're gonna go draft a quarterback number two overall. We
(23:22):
think he can be our franchise guy. Okay, great, what
are we gonna do. We're gonna go get him help
right away. We're gonna sign Corey Davis. We're gonna spend
a lot of money to get a guy who's good
but not great. But we need somebody to come in.
We're gonna go get Corey Davis. Hey, good job, But
we're not done there. We're gonna take Elijah More in
the second round. Great, big playmaker. We're gonna get him
the football everywhere we can. Great. What else you gonna do? Hey,
(23:44):
first round that last year in the draft, We're gonna
go get that big time wide receiver. We're gonna three
big weapons. We're gonna go get Garrett Wilson and he's terrific.
And we bring up Garret Wilson. Okay, this is outstanding.
We do that. We got Corey Davis, we got Elijah More,
Garrett Wilson, We signed a bunch of eyes on the
offensive line. We signed to keep our quarterback up right.
And what do we do. We go to a run
(24:06):
heavy offense and we try we try to wear where
the quarterback. They want to limit his mistakes and tell
him to not be too risky and don't throw the
wall all the way downfield and be smart and take
the incomplete passes. Why the blanket? You go out and
get all those wide receivers and if this is all
you're gonna do is hand the football to Breece Hall.
Not like that's not a great strategy, really, but what
(24:29):
the hell man? You go out and draft a quarterback
number two, You take a wide receiver in the first round,
You take a wide receiver in the second round. You
pay a guy in free agent money he thought was
gonna be number one, And what do you do. No,
we're not gonna run the football. We're not gonna throw
the football. We're gonna run it. What the hell man,
what are you doing? What is going on? That's how
the Jets always jet Mike Harmon Well would to help
(24:52):
you know we talked to with Jay Glazer earlier and uh.
One of the most recent podcasts he had Brandon Marshall
what was of his main values as a Jet, as
a Bear, as a Bronco. He blocked, we love about
the guys in San Francisco they block. If the Jets
actually got guys that weren't just you know, run down
(25:12):
field and hope that Zack Wilson finds you uh and
actually engaged in blocking, then yeah, go run heavy and
still spend the money because if they can catch and
engage as a blocker, well you win. Unfortunately, that's not
what they did. No, No, n And once Breestall got hurt,
well that was, oh well, we didn't develop our quarterback
(25:33):
Organs And now we got we got a quarterback who
stinks and a wide receiver who's pissed, and one guy
who can't even catch a pass and Corey Davis and
he got Garrett Wilson. We had the one guy who
is good. But everything else we did. No, we're we're
we completely torpedoed ourselves. We decided we're gonna bring in
and do a run heavy offense. And what were our picks?
Wide receivers and quarterbacks. I mean, come on, man, really,
(25:55):
I mean I wasn't a big fan of the philosophy
of going run heavy because it's very difficult to get
wide receivers to come playing an offense it's run heavy,
which is why they had to overpay for Corey Davis.
And then you know we're draft Elijah Moore and draft
Garrett Wilson. That's a tough thing to do because look,
wide receivers know, Hey, I'm not gonna get the football. Man,
why am I signing there? Why am I gonna go
to Baltimore when with Greg Roman, We're just gonna run
(26:18):
the football all the time. Right, I'm not gonna go
because I'm not gonna get my numbers. I'm not gonna
get my next big contract. Why would I. I have
other options. I'm gonna go someplace else. So, but I
get building one way. But if you build that way,
build to that strength, right, you know, you know the
Jet I know what head coach online therapy should be
(26:44):
a head coach, man, I could be the doctor phil
of this whole thing. I mean, Jesus couldn't help the Jets.
Come on, Jesus, or Jesus, Jesus Doud Okay, well I
did reference Dr Phil, so I have to say bad, bad, bad,
but I can't fault to good strength speaking of doctors.
That's exact. That is true, Jason. Imagine what they say.
(27:05):
What the what the Jets receivers say that we don't
know about? I can tell you story. Oh that's the
one that got out home. Hey, this is a big
one that got out. Big scandal gonna happen to me.
What they say are the ones that don't damn town
hall meeting? Now, they probably said today, Hey, something's gonna
(27:25):
get out about what one of the wide receivers said
about michaela Floor. Oh my god, what Joe Douglas, how
bleep did you draft? Is bleeping guy? And then and
then they find out that it's Oh, it's when Elijah
Moore told the Florid to go blank blank himself. And
they're like, oh, that's the story. Yeah, that's fine. We're
fine with that one got out, and we got like
ten other ones that are way worse. Man, if that
one gets out, yeah fine, that'll be a headline for
(27:46):
a day and then we'll move on. That's how it's
gonna go. That's said. That's how it works. We're gonna
go We're gonna build a run heavy offense and no,
we're gonna go get a quarterback and pat me. Like,
what are you doing? It's like saying, you know what
I'm gonna have for my party. One, it's gonna be
a pizza party. Awesome, and you show up. What's there?
Burgers and salsa and chips whatever? The pizza party. Well,
there's still a little bit of pizza here, stood, I
(28:08):
got but but but you said it was a pizza party.
We're gonna have this like, yeah, there's a lizard pizza
over there. Yeah, but there's only one and everybody's gonna
eat it. Now. I mean, I can't have salsa. It's
too spicy for my system. I can't have that. Really, no, no,
and I can't. I'm a vegetarian. I can't eat meat.
The sandwiches don't work. Well, why are you bring me
to this party? That's the Jets. That's how the Jets
make a party. Oh, it's a pizza party. But instead
we're gonna have cold cuts and we're gonna have salsa.
(28:31):
That's a Jets party right there. Cold cuts and salsa. Yeah,
that's not a bad way to go but not when
you promise pizza. Pizza, what we're gonna have We're gonna
plan for theoretical plan for pizza. We're gonna have a
pizza for expect What do you want? What do you want?
We're gonna have a pizza party for my birthday? Okay, great?
So what does it mean? Means we gotta order the
pizza the day before. We gotta make sure, we gotta
(28:52):
make sure we have the right number of pies. We
have to make sure we know how many people are
coming so we don't run out. But we don't want
to get pizza. But are you bringing better gift if
it's pizza versus if they said cold cuts and salts. No,
I'm saying, just you plan for one thing and you
decided to just do another for no reason. And that's
what the Jets did. They went they were planning for
(29:13):
a pizza party, and they had cold cuts and salsa
and guacamole. Most likely that's the Jets. Sounds like you went,
tried to go to a party and at some point
you were very disappointed. Oh dude, there was no pizza
remaining when you got there. I still you were probably late.
Cannot you know because they're not listening to the show.
And I love them both to death, our friends. But
(29:34):
I can tell you this story. The most disappointed I
ever was at was when I went to a party
that our friends were having and I get there, and
you know me, when I go to a party, I'm like,
where's a diet coke? Right, Like, that's what it is,
diet coke, diecog And all our friends know, like when
I come, they don't need to have beer for me.
We have diet cook Oh yeah, taco got diapepesi Right.
So we get to the party and the party was
like far away, so it wasn't like I could duck
out and go get dieco, go get diaco. I go, said,
(29:56):
what do you got? Oh? Here, and drinks are all
over there in the in the cooler someome. I go
over there and it's all Lacroix water. I'm going, this
is the worst water ever. And that's all you have
to drink is Lacroix. I wanted to leave right there, going,
I can't stay here. This is I can't sit here
and just drink Lacroix water. I can't you know, you know,
I can't have asked for a cup. Maybe just giving
you some tap water. I could have been fine. I
(30:18):
can't do it, man, No, But if I if I'm
at a party, I want to be I need a
little bit of caffeine and you going a little bit here?
I need some. It's the really Lacroix, really really it's
it's pink grapefruit and then and then lemon meringue. And
I'm like, what what this is the why? Why would
anybody have this? This is the worst. That's the Jet season.
The Jets. The Jets is one big case of Lacroix water.
(30:41):
We're all crazy. Here's pineapple blueberry, and then here we
have a side Kiwi raspberry jelly flavor. That's that. That's
a Jet season. Be sure to catch live editions of

(31:01):
Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon. Don't worry,
Lamar Jackson was coming back to the Ravens. I don't
know about that. Well, at least if he has the Ravens,
he is today. John Harball and other members of the
Ravens GM, A lot of people talked about how hey,
we want Lamar Jackson back. He wants to be here,
(31:23):
We want him here. It's gonna happen. Hardball said he
is two d that Lamar is gonna wind up staying.
They'll sign a long term deal. Lamar Jackson is our quarterback.
Everything we've done in terms of building our offense and
building our team, how we think in terms of people
and put people around him, is based on this incredible
young man, his talent, his ability. Until he trade him.
(31:45):
He could end every sentence with until he trade him.
That's just saying if you want to come to I mean, look,
look how much we love so to get rid of
him when you're really gonna have to come strong. We're
not just gonna give him away yet, but we gotta
give him two d and fifty million dollars. You're gonna
get like a second round pick and and maybe a sandwich,
all right, a big sandwich, big sandwich. Uh. Look, I'll
(32:12):
give you a little bit of positivity about Lamar staying
with the Ravens even though he's gone. If you're going
to change your mind, the only thing that keeps him
a Raven is if Steve Bashott he changed his mind
and says yes, I'm okay guaranteeing you two million dollars, right,
because that's the whole thing. After after Deshaun Watson signed,
that's what Lamar Jackson's wanted. He had a better resume
(32:33):
than than Deshaun Watson. I want that and Steve, but Shott,
he doesn't want to give it to him now for
positivity about him staying, because he's leaving. But for positivity.
The only time you would see that changing would be
after the down tick they had to end the season
with Lamar Jackson injured. You watched a really promising year
that could have ended in the a f C Championship
Game or beyond turn into something where it's boy, we
(32:56):
really missed our quarterback. So if you're ever gonna change
your mind, this is the time to do it. My
Teve a little bit of positivity about him staying a Raven,
this is the time to do it, because this is
when you would say, all right, this changed my mind
because we were just so bad at the end of
the year. We couldn't get any offense going. All right,
I'll give him the money. Well, I think part of
it when you get rid of Roman is you're you're
looking at what you've built, and it was all predicated
(33:19):
on Lamar. Like like hard Boss said, it was one
of the things I thought, uh, and I defended hard
Ball when everybody wanted him to stop running Lamar Jackson
all together. It's you know, you and I have talked
about this a lot. It's if you have some element
of a player's game that makes him special, why would
you eliminate that? Why would you minimize that? And so
(33:41):
that's what they leaned into. Here's the thing in the
front office. They actually have to pick a wide receiver
that can help. Yeah, right, Hollywood Brown, straight line runner,
Bateman can't stay on the field. You got Mark Andrews
and a lot of you know, Duverney. What I guess
is giving them more than you would have expected this year.
That's not saying much because you didn't expect much run game.
(34:04):
Guys were hurt, guys were unavailable. Your offensive line, you
keep relying on Ronnie Stanley and when he's available, he's great.
Problem is he can't stay on the field. So you've
got a bunch of things to address. But you predicated
the entire structure of the offense on Lamar Jackson being
(34:24):
your guys, so you'll have to pivot now getting rid
of Romans part one. But it also becomes part of
the the evolution of getting Lamar Jackson back, you know,
to the guy who was at Louisville or not just
the guy, just the guy he was when he won
the m v P A guy no, no, sure, but
part of that is just predicated on, hey, he's got
(34:46):
to be healthy because you missed five games for the
opening part of the season. You know, go back to
our fantasy world. We had Lamar Jackson on our dynasty team.
He was brilliant for what four weeks and that he
was a jag fantasy wise before he got hurt for
the next six or seven, right, he was QB fourteen
or some number thereabouts, So he had become an average
(35:09):
player at that point. With the offense they were running,
even with you know, Lamar healthy and going that, things
had bogged down. And then you see what happened once
he was out. You're scoring twelve points a game for
crying out loft. You're not even given justin Tucker opportunity.
You're not even in range two super toe his ask
it slam him on the head. To see how far
(35:31):
he can kick the ball. So wait, so let me
ask you this. So the Ravens be, you know, letting
Greg Roman go to actually Greg Rowan stepping away for this.
He stepped away con they they said, do you need
another few minutes for that one? Lamar Jackson will have
a role in the next offensive coordinator and hire the
(35:52):
next See but if he's with another team, will he
still do it? I mean, really can you? If they
train him to other teams, he's still gonna have a
role in hiring. I mean that does the Yeah, he
still has thoughts on what could work for them. Look
all of that going on, look to say, if they're
ever going to change their mind, this was the time
to do it. But that being said, they've had all
(36:14):
kinds of time to sign him to a long term
contract and they haven't done it. And Steve Bashotti hasn't
done it. And all today was was we want to
get front and center so people don't get so Raven
Nation doesn't get mad at us. When Lamar Jackson ends
up getting traded. We can say it doesn't matter. We
can sit here and say we we love Lamar Jackson,
(36:35):
but he wanted too much money. They're trying to win
that pr battle because they know when he gets traded,
they're gonna be mad. How did we not make it
work out with a guy that when the m v
P a couple of years ago. Yeah, they've already lost
that bad. They're gonna try, then try. They just wanted
on record as of this date, Lamar Jackson Future Jet.
(36:55):
Yeah you go, Yeah, Prosberg put it out there in
the univer The Jets would do that. Coming up next,
Hey what about Tom Brady Fox
