Jason Smith and Mike Harmon discuss why the Cowboys didn't underachieve; they're a good team who lost to a better team. They're a level below the top teams in the NFL and went as far as they could go. They're not a perennial Super Bowl favorite who disappoints - they're just analyzed that way. Fantasy Football Hall of Famer Michael Fabiano stops by.

(00:46):
the way tire buying should be. Well, it's been long enough.
We've talked about the Eagles, the forty Niners, Paul Hayman
on ww E thirtieth anniversary tonight, and Brock Party Tom Brady.
The era of the Bills is over. Their Super Bowl
window is closed, and now we get to the Dallas

(01:08):
Cowboys window never opened. Special guests coming up in about
twenty minutes to talk Dallas Cowboys with us very excited
about this. We may not get away. You got the
dump button ready, have the dump button ready? And I
dare say he takes no more than four and a
half breath. But look, everybody continues to miss what the

(01:37):
real story is with the Dallas Cowboys. Right, they get
eliminated yesterday, they lose to the nineteen to twelve mar
mr is an extra point, but it doesn't turn out
to come back and haunt them. Dak Prescott's play comes
back to turn out and haunt them. But this is
what I mean when I said a couple of weeks ago,
people think the Cowboys are some thing that it isn't right.

(02:01):
What was the reaction today? Fire Mike McCarthy, get rid
of Dak Prescott. Wait what Mike McCarthy is an awful coach?
Dak Prescott is the worst quarterback? How do they The
Cowboys are not? And I gotta say this because everybody talked.
They confuse the popularity of the team with how good

(02:21):
they are. And the Cowboys are not a perennial Super
Bowl favorite. Every year we don't come in going boy
all right? And in the NFC it's the Dallas Cowboys.
NFC to lose. No, they're not the Chiefs. We say
that about the Chiefs because of my homes and what
they've done and being to a couple of Super Bowls
and winning one. We don't come into a season saying
the Cowboys are the overwhelming favorites. You would think that

(02:44):
every year. Judging by the reaction to the Cowboys today
and McCarthy and Prescott and all these things, is that
this is a team that every year goes fifteen and
two and they come into the playoffs and they can't
get it done and they can't win. Right, that's not
the case. Right, The Cowboys are a good team. Right,
This is a team that lost to a better team. Right.
The San Francisco is better at almost every single position

(03:07):
than the Cowboys are. They're better than the Cowboys everywhere
on defense. They have better wide receivers, they have a
better tight end, they have a better line, they have
better running backs and quarterback is the only one that's
kind of up in the air. But who outplayed who yesterday?
The forty niners are a better team. They were supposed
to win this game. Cowboys almost pulled it off. Their
defense was great. They're often need to be better. But

(03:28):
you know what, it's not like the Niners just waltz
of the playoffs at eight and nine and got it
got hot, and oh boy, then they were able to
expose the Cowboys. The Cowboys came in. They were a
good team. They weren't as good as the Eagles. They
weren't as good as the forty Niners. They were about
as good as the Vikings. This is where they are.
They beat a really bad Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that
gets to the playoffs under five hundred. And that's how

(03:50):
bad they are that their division they won. They couldn't
even beat their division badly. They finished eight and nine.
The Cowboys were good this year. Mike McCarthy did a
good job. They won twelve games. Where did and where
did the Cowboys disappoint? Where did the Cowboys this? If
you're being honest about football, where did the Cowboys disappoint you? Where? Boy?
This is what they should have done, and they didn't

(04:11):
do it. I've told you everywhere. But other teams were better.
Other things they did were better. Oh, McCarthy made me
he should have punted the ball earlier, Like yeah, well,
you know what. Other coaches made big mistakes to this weekend, right,
But but it's all Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys are not
a great team. They retaining to this year. We thought
they'd be good. They were good, they lost to a
team that was better than they were, and they're gonna
play a team that's better than they were as well.

(04:32):
So the whole thing with the Cowboys is we overvalue
we we we don't value in the right way, and
that their their popularity and we equate that with how
good they should be. Like because of the most popular team,
we think they're a super Bowl team every year, and
they barely are. They barely are. You saw the roster Dak.
No one's overvaluing Dak. He's about an average to a
tiny bit above average NFL quarterback. There's lots of guys

(04:55):
better than Dak Prescott just because he's getting paid, he's
a quarterback in the Cowboy Oh, Dak is you know what?
Dak had a bad playoff game, right, It happens, Right,
you had a bad playoff game. It happens. He's had
a couple of good years, and he's had a couple
of years, a few years that were just a little
bit or right around league average or a little bit below.
That's who he is. Dak Prescott's not Patrick Mahomes coming
into the playoffs and suddenly, boy, he just takes a

(05:17):
dive and and he can't do anything. It's not Aaron
Rodgers hey winning the m v P and then in
the a F NFC title game he can't get more
than three points on the board at home in the
snow against the forty Niners. Dak Prescott is who he is.
Did heah? I wish he had a better game, and
I'm sure he wishes he had a better game. But
this is not you stopped Tom Brady. This is not
you stopped uh in. It is Heyday, Russell Wilson or

(05:40):
Cam Newton. This is not that. But because the Cowboys
are so popular, it's all the disappointed. No, the Cowboys,
this is how it should have ended for them. Here's
a team that was twelve and five and they were
the second tier of teams in the NFC, and you
know what, they couldn't pull a big upset because beating
the forty Niners would have been a big upset. But
it's this huge. It's not a failure. The Cowboys did
exactly what thought they should well you go and you
ake plays right in the end, the forty Niners, when

(06:03):
Dak Prescott gave them opportunities to take the ball away,
most of the time they did. They had a couple
of others that went awry. Brock Purty gave them multiple
opportunities in the secondary to take the ball away, but
because they're defensive backs, they fat fingered it and fell
to the ground heartlessly. Right, he gave them opportunities, So

(06:24):
don't say, but they forced a bunch of Robbie gold
field goals. Michael Parson said, we held that offense to
one touchdown and four field goals. We have to win
this game, and he's a hundred percent right. You old
a team like the forty Niners to nineteen points, you
play them essentially, even give up the turnovers by Dak.

(06:46):
You had a couple of misses in in your passing game, right,
there's passed to Elliott that should have been caught for
a touchdown. Pollard, you lose him a lot of but
you also came in with a flawed roster, your wide
receiver position. I like Dalton Schultz. He made a bone
head play nobody end of the game. He's the guy

(07:06):
that's gotten away with a bit of that, because why
it's easier to go after McCarthy clock management history and
Dak Prescott because people still want to throw up his salary. Okay,
he got paid when he got paid, Shut up about
his salary. It doesn't matter at this point. He is
their quarterback period. Okay, you have Ceedee Lamb, you have
Dalton Schultz, and then you had a bunch of guys.

(07:29):
You were hoping Gallup would be healthy and would be
a difference maker. He's not. You were hoping t Y
Hilton would be a guy that would make big plays
for you coming off the scrap heap. Guess what that
diet He was on the scrap heap. And you have
the decided step up in class to where the margin
of error dissipated altogether. Right, Maher hit a couple of

(07:51):
field goals. You had the blocked tipped whatever you wanna
call it, p A t which I guess if you
want to go and do the subruder film and and
play it out, was gonna miss anyway. But that doesn't
matter in the grand scale. You didn't make enough plays
and you're that much of a distance between the and yeah,
Purdy didn't play a clean game. He wasn't great, But
you know what he didn't do. He didn't fire the

(08:12):
ball directly in the chest of another player the other
team that they caught near mrs don't count in football,
just an incomplete pass, right, He didn't fumble the ball.
They took care of business. And even though McCaffrey, they
did a hell of a job bottling him up almost
all day. When it came time for bullyball, guess what.
San Francisco offensive line got ready and they played bullyball

(08:36):
and George Kittle's unstoppable. We've been talking. I thought he
was gonna get drilled on that catch that Oh my god,
he's gonna hit He's gonna hit it one more times.
I thought it was gonna be a little Rockham Sockem
Robots kind of moment there for him, no question, no,
but look, but but just think about it for a second. Okay,
it was a great game, and the Cowboys nearly pulled

(08:56):
the upside. It's DA's faulted side. Yeah, DA turned it over.
But you know what, the Niners the best defense left
and the best defense in the NFL, and they're clearly
the best defense left in the playoffs. So you gotta
give them. But it's like they get no credit Dax stunk. No,
come on, you gotta realize that this was gonna be
that kind of game, right, No, one says brock Purty.
So well, wait a minute, but they they held them down.

(09:17):
They had the one touchdown drive. That was it. But
look at the Cowboys, all right, Uh, the on defense,
we told you they're not as good as the forty Niners,
not as good as the Eagles. On offense, they're running
backs are not bad. But are they what the forty
Niners have? No right, No, they're not wide receiver Ceedee
Lamb has turned into the only weapon. That's it. Now

(09:38):
he used to be well we had a great deep
room at no now it seems and feel fast because
but but suddenly that's not part of the equapmtion. It
doesn't matter. You know, it's a big deal when you
lose your best running back. Tony Pollard was was the
best running back in the NFL the last six weeks.

(09:59):
Well if that was a last playing a cow he
gets trucked over center and then uh they were employing
So that was but that was but but that was
the that was such a big part of the game.
But it wasn't. It was Dac failed. Mike McCarthy failed,
and I'm sorry that that's not the case. Who wants
it is important? Is is dak the guy? No? No,

(10:21):
but you pay them thought, he's your guy. You gotta
figure it out. You built around and this is where
Jerry and Steven Jones need to get off their asses
and figure out what the next generation of this team
looks like. You need another wide receiver quite clearly, you
got to decide what you're doing with Dalton Schultz. Both
your running backs are potentially gone. Oh they gotta let

(10:42):
they gotta let Zeke go coming off and broken leg hopefull,
he's gonna be Backel, Right, do you bring him back?
Or are you in the marketplace altogether? Go into the
secondary tertiary receivers. You got some defensive pieces you're gonna
need to look at. Man, there's there's a lot of
work that needs to be done with this roster. They
had a hell of a run and Lawrence and Michael
Parsons are about as good a base as you can

(11:04):
start with in the NFL on defense, but it's not
built on two guys, and you need to be more
efficient and play better complimentary football on the offensive side.
You know, nobody today is saying fire Sean McDermott. Nobody's
saying that even though the Bills fall show but fire
Sean McDermot. No one's saying who's saying that? Okay, I'm sorry,

(11:29):
nobody besides Stefon Diggs. He also wants Josh Allen gone,
so and maybe we can work out of trade. You're
still the first place first quartermas of course. Look he's
gonna be great on the barras, no no one. No
one's saying, oh, this guy's got his But Mike McCarthy.
How does Mike McCarthy have to He got within a
whisker of the NFC Championship game and he wasn't. His

(11:50):
team was not as good as the teams that are
playing for the NFC title. So but yet for the Cowboys,
it's different because of their popularity. And I firmly believe
this take one step further on the Cowboys. It's impossible
because it's the Cowboys that will never happen. But if
they could have just a business as usual season, if
they could have a season where every week isn't the

(12:10):
super Bowl, and every week isn't a quarterback controversy or
running back controversy or Jerry Jones making headlines by saying,
I'm gonna go sign Odell Beckham Jr. I'm gonna do
If they could just have an average season, which never could,
Cowboys would win more because they could shut out all
the crap and and focus more, and they could gell
more as a team, and they could figure things out

(12:31):
a lit. But every week is the super Bowl for
the Cowboys, and it's hard to win that way because
of their popularity, because of who they are. If they
could have a year like that, boy, then I give
But the Cowboys, this is kind. This is who they are.
They didn't they didn't underachieve. They were they were good.
They went out where they were supposed to go out right,
they didn't go out early. Then it weren't a big
But everybody just thinks and talks about the failure when honestly,

(12:52):
for the Cowboys, this was a really good season. Bunny.
This is Michigan football. It's what we've been saying about
horrible in Michigan football. You have to recognize who you are.
Mike McCarthy talking about other teams by saying he's going
to be enthusiastic about and then he's gonna push your
camera away like he's Karon Rodgers. All right, that's the
new move your camera and move you away. You can

(13:13):
dunk it next time and then forcibly sent you away.
But it's the same idea. You got to recognize your
history and who you are. Yeah, you won titles. That's
thirty years ago. That's thirty bleeping years ago. That Jimmy
Johnson and company. We're getting the job done. Now we're
looking at a roster and a global brand that's fantastic. Likewise, Michigan,

(13:34):
now they've they've tasted near success and they've been good,
and like we've said, it's a good program, but they're
not up here. It's only appropriate that I'm watching, you know,
the reairing of Raw, so I get to watch Paul
Hayman talk about greatness again Twitter and out about a
Fresca Mike and Swallendultion. Just understand that Cowboys didn't underachieve

(13:57):
they were terrible, wasn't Mike McCarthy's all. They lost to
a better team because they're not as they're not that
good They're not the head of the table. That's all
that matters. They lost the Brock Party list. They're not
They're not Voldemort at the head of the table and
Deathly Hallows when he has all the death theaters around
and we're tale when the defeats Charity Bourbage to uh,

(14:19):
Jary Burbage did not have a good run another the
Cowboys are like pious thickness. At the end, he was like,
I'm kind of important, but not nearly like what Snape
and and and and Belatricks and Voldemort. But I'm kind
of important in another genre. Yeah, pious bias. He was

(14:40):
in another another genre film. Be sure to catch live

(15:03):
We're in the middle of breaking down all the big
action from the NFL weekend. Yeah. Look, we told a
few minutes ago Dallas Cowboys are not a great team.
They're just analyzed that way. They're overvalued because of their popularity.
This is a good team that made the playoffs one
as far as they can go. They lost to a
better team. That's what it is. But I don't think

(15:24):
that's gonna help our next guest at all because join
us on the hotline is a man who has already
applied to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
He is a Fantasy Sports Hall of Famer. You can
follo him on Twitter at Michael Underscore Fabiano. That's at
Michael Underscore Fabiano. Senior fantasy analysts for Sports Illustrated. Check

(15:44):
them out on Series X and Fantasy Sports Radio Westwood one,
and the and the once and future head coach of
the Cowboys. But Fabs, I gotta apologize. I don't know
what this walk up music is for you, tight shirt?
What you given Fabian was a great band I discovered
called the Strike enjoyed, Fabs. What's happening, buddy? How are you? Man?

(16:10):
Little man? I'm good, you know what, dude? I mean,
I knew it was coming. I mean, you know you
and I hung out a week or a week ago.
I mean I knew it was coming. This is if
you're a Cowboys fan, you know that Eventually they're going
to pull the rug out from you. They're gonna be
the Lucy to your Charlie Brown. You're gonna get all
excited thinking that you're gonna kick that football and the

(16:32):
football gods will pull it away. It's funny that you're
right up kicking, thank you. Right, Yeah, Charlie Brown probably
couldn't make an extra point either, but I think you
hit it on the head. We lost to a better team,
and the Cowboys all year long, we're jekylin hide, right,
I mean almost almost like the Vikings to a degree,

(16:54):
are schedule is a little bit easier. But we smoked Minnesota, right.
We destroyed that team, and then we almost lost in
the Texas and it's the regular season finale when we
actually had something on the line. We go down to
a rookie quarterback who's never made a start in the NFL.
Like this is just the Cowboys. The defense balled out

(17:18):
over the they bawled out, and I couldn't have been
more proud of Parsons and and Digs and Osa Aziga
Do who has been on my show a few times.
I mean, when you lose one of your top two playmakers,
and Tony Pollard and Seed. He had a great game.
Zeke's toast like you could see it. Zeke got a

(17:38):
decent fantasy season. He had twelve touchdowns, but the last
like three games. Dude, I mean, he looked like he
was running with sandbags on his shoulder paths. It just
was not good. They need another wide receiver. They should
have never traded Marie Cooper. That was an awful, terrible move.
And Michael Gallup was a nothing burger for most of

(17:59):
the regular seat Sason in all of the playoffs. Now
you've got Pollard going into free agency, you got Shultz
going into free agency, and I don't care what anybody says.
You got question marks at the quarterback, because that's going
to be your guy. You paid him a lot of money.
But now you gotta wonder Candack ever get his past
the divisional round of the playoffs. And he was statistically

(18:21):
very good at times and in other weeks. If you
had him on your fantasy team, you know this. He
just was turning them all over too much. And that
game against the Niners, his player prop I think was
like minus on SI sports book for over half a pick.

(18:43):
And I said, you got to smash that because he's
going to throw at least one. The Niners had the
most picks in the league. No team had more, and
I think they had had a pick in like five
or six straight games, and Dak had one or more
in seven of his last eight. Listen, I mean, I'm
just a pointed. I started to get a little bit
excited Jason towards the end of the week when people

(19:05):
are picking the Cowboys and I'm like, Hi, can we
do this? And I had to like talk myself out
of it. I'm like, no, we can't. This is what
the Cowboys are and you can go back to and
I guess the first after the dynasty part of us
right after nine and we won with Switzer and that was,
you know, really Jimmy's team. After that, it's been nothing
but heartbreak. And it all started in the third team

(19:28):
three season where we had t o Wade Phillips was
the head goes, you look like we were going to
go to the super Bowl. We had a first round.
By remember that we lose to the Giants in the
division round. We have a whole bunch of penalties, we
get beat the Giants end up going to the super
Bowl and beating the Patriots. But that started it right
then you then you go to you remember Romo missing

(19:48):
the snap on the kick by Martin Dramatica in Seattle,
and then the desk catch that wasn't a catch. That
was the catch that wasn't a catch that was a
catch in green Bay. And I still contend that it
that catch counted. Now Rogers would have had time to
to matriculate down the field and maybe beat us. But
if we beat green Bay in that game, we would

(20:08):
went to Seattle, beat them and going to the super Bowl.
That's just my opinion. Then you have the other games.
But I've let these losses go over the years. I've
forgotten about the parents have it. Then then you got
the other then other game against Green Bay where Aaron
Rodgers through that that p to the sidelines, jured Cook
who made a really good catch, and then Mason crossgot

(20:29):
the field goal, and they're just like at this point,
I think about, like, I'm been a Cowboys fan for
over forty years, but there are Cowboys fans out there
who have been maybe twenty years. What have we done?
Like people people like that are probably like, why are
you guys all talking about jumping out a bandwagon. We
haven't done dead Lee poo in almost thirty years, is

(20:50):
what it is. And I listened, man, think about it.
What have the Cowboys done without Jimmy Johnson? What have
they done? Nothing? Nothing? Significant? Well, no, well, Barry Switson
won the Super Bowl. I mean with all the Johnson's players,
start for Jimmy to come back out of the fox. Yeah. Yeah,
maybe Jimmy and Barry coaching the team together. Yeah, that

(21:10):
might work. Maybe you and Elliot Harrison can coach a
team together. Yeah. Switzer's team was Jimmy Steve you guys
know that. And then we've had what Jane Gailey, Dave Campo, Garrett.
The only coach that we've had that's not a puppet
is ourselves. The only guy since since Jimmy. You got
the word puppet in that's good. That's the only guy, dude,

(21:32):
I think about it. I mean, honestly, like they're all puppets.
Like McCarthy's a puppet, Garrett's a puppet, Campo was a puppet,
Gailey was a puppet, Wade. I mean, they're all puppets.
It's a big puppet show. It's a puppet show. Puppet
we do that for next, Can we the puppet show
those puppets and just do it and get it? They're

(21:53):
doing conference calls with each those puppets cost a lot
of money. I mean, that's I could get some kindergarteners
to do that as an slaviano with one of those
bigges with all the strings and there's are just moving
around and doing things with Nostro puppets playing in the background.
You remember to remember the end. You remember the end
of the Al Davis tenure with the Raiders, and he

(22:16):
was making all the decisions, and the decisions were all bad,
you know, like the like I mean any fast wide
receiver top ten Darius, I would bay, yeah, give me him.
I mean like not not that it's gotten better, you
know with rugs and everything else and all that mess.
But that was a different story. But like towards the end,
all Davis almost you know that the game has almost
kind of passed him by, and he was just making

(22:37):
bad decisions and the razor any good I don't know
the game passed her. He Jones by because I never
I don't know that he ever had a graphs with
the game. And and again, like bottom line is that
he's not won anything significant without Jimmie Johnson's fingerprints being
on it. Now, the Cowboys have had some good drafts, right,
I mean, we got Micah Zach Martin. We have some
good drafts, but at the end of the day, they

(22:59):
make dumb decisions. We owe Zeke a ton of money
and he's he's he's over the hill now. And you
know Dak, right, is Dak a championship caliber quarterback? I mean,
have we've seen that? I mean no, right, we haven't
really seen that. And they've they've got they overspend on
certain players, like with with the whole Zeke thing. I mean,

(23:21):
now there's a report that he said that you know,
he would he would enable his contract and take less money.
I mean, he's got to the Cowboys, and it seems
like this has been the case like every year forever.
We need another wide receiver now, because we made that
stut we traded a fifth round pick for Mary Cooper.
Mary Cooper, in fantasy terms ten best wide receiver in

(23:41):
the league this past season, tenth with the backup quarterback,
even though he was Michael run based off It's Michael
Gallup was a nothing burger. Jalen Tilbert, I mean, where
did he go. There was nothing and they wanted to
sign Odell Beckham Jr. Please don't do that, especially after
that videotape on the airplane. I want nothing to do
with that, dude. I'm hoping the Cowboys go out there

(24:02):
and get like a Brandon Cooks or something like that.
But he's got a big contract. So and there's no
good free agent wide receivers really, I mean, like you're
looking at what you do. He's okay, but Jehobe Myers,
I mean, there's not these these superstar wide receivers that
are out there on the free agent market. And the
Cowboys also need helping the defensive backfield. Once Anthony Brown

(24:23):
went down, they couldn't stop anybody, which seems strange to
think because you don't think of Anthony Brown as being
a key cod but apparently he was. And they've listen.
I mean, they made a good pick with Tyler Smith.
He was pretty good as a rookie. They there there's
issues there, man, and it's just the same old Cowboys.
It's frustrating. It's like the Yankees, and I know people
are gonna do all. You're a Cowboys Yankees fans, you know,

(24:44):
go go spit. Okay, but what's happened since two thousand
and nine? Miss? What's happened? Really? We get to the
playoffs and the batskill cold and we come up short,
and I understand it, and I will admit it. I
am a I am a selfish, spoiled Yankee slash Cowboys fan.
I am and nothing short like they haven't even given

(25:05):
us an enterty championship game since like that. That's a
long time ago for the Cowboys. And am I spoiled? Yes? Absolutely?
People try being a Browns fan, I mean, or a
Jets fan. But at least your team, you guys are

(25:25):
I'll say it is. The Jets are the right veteran
quarterback away from contending in that division and being a
playoff team. Their defense is really good. How they got
some offensive line issues. I think the offensive line could
approve a little bit. Brace Hall's a stud. Wilson is
going to be real good. He already is. I don't

(25:45):
know what's going on with lie Jah more. But if
you bring in you know, a Garoppolo or Rogers, Dack
Brady Dad for Zach Wilson right now, Dak for Zach Wilson,
Come on, man, it's good. I mean unless unless you
can score points on um, you know, going after the

(26:06):
you know, the the the mom's I'd like to you
know what, uh does that quote for them? No value?
And that's his only value. I mean that's it, right,
I mean, like you know, he's chasing the stiffler's mom
and that's it. I told you that too. By the way,
I told you Smith when they drafted him, it's not
gonna work because the Jeff can't get it right. But
now the Jeff can't get it right. We just don't drafty. No,

(26:28):
you gotta have the GM pick everything else. Somebody else.
Sim con Sieri comes in and he gets to pick
the quarterback. There's no Robert right, No, you know, let
Larry David do it. Larry David. You know, you know
the Jett's kill good season. Did not just sayin one
that to then the one year put sells as the
coach every other year is stunk, dude. I'm telling you, man,

(26:52):
this is what the Jeff seemed to do San Garoppolo
or do a deal for Rogers, right. You know Brady
is out there. You're not getting Lamar apparently, you know,
Harbaugh said that it's a stay with the Ravens. I mean,
you never know. Pete Carroll said that Russell Wilson was
going to stay in Seattle, and they ended up making
a brilliant move, which in hindsight now is a brilliant move,

(27:12):
trading them to the Broncos. Brought that draft capital. Seattle
is an up and coming team too, and Gino looked
freaking good thing about that. Gino look like, you know
what with the Jets, and then he's been a backup,
you know, for how many teams, and now the guy
goes out there, he's the QV five and fantasy he
breaks the single season record for the Seahawks passing cards,
and uh, I couldn't do anything as remember that Jets

(27:33):
needed to go out there and sign a free agent
and then, hey, you know what, I think the sky's
a limit for that team. The Patriots are sort of
a declining team. The Bills are coming off a disappointing season.
You know, the Dolphins. Who knows what's going on with
to Uh, they got a lot of firepower in the offense,
and they got some upside on defense, but who knows
what's going on with to it? Tell you right now, dude,
you get the right quarterback. The Jets could be right there.
The Jets could finish higher than the Cowboys do. Make

(27:55):
sure the Cowboys division is getting tougher. The Commanders are
are a good team, not a great team. The Giants
took a step forward. Uh, they gotta get Barkley and
keep him and and Jones as well. But the Eagles, dude,
they're good man. I mean, the Eagles are very good.
Imagine if they got themselves a consistent running back, they
I mean, that offense would be nuclear. But I think

(28:17):
I think that's your your your NFC UM representative. I
think the Eagles are gonna beat the Niners. I think
the Bengals are gonna go into Casey and beat Mahomes.
Who's you know, maybe at what fifty? Who knows? And
we're gonna see Bengals Eagles. I'm I don't know about you, guys.
Joe Burrow is like one of my favorite non like

(28:39):
my team players like Cowboys. He's just fun to watch.
He reminds me a lot of Joe Montana, just the
way that he that you know that he holds himself.
He's an amazing player. He makes it look easy out there,
and hell if he goes into Kansas City and beats Mahomes.
That's four in a row, buddy, it's a heavyweight title
about This is better than Rains versus Kot the Royal Rumble.

(29:01):
I mean, and it Burrowed beats him. He's got the belt.
I saw, yeah, I saw, I saw miss tonight. He
was on Mike for about three seconds and Ko came
on and uh gave him a couple of stunners to
my boy, and uh and that was about it. But hey,
you know what, like as far as the Cowboys go,
I thought we would lose in the Bucks. You know me, Jason,
I'm a self loathing Cowboys fan. I'm glad that we

(29:22):
had the opportunity. The defense played really well. Doc just
you know, throws two picks and he had a couple
of intersections against that defense. McCaffrey didn't do anything on
the in terms of yardage. He had a touchdown, he
had like six catches, but didn't do anything yardage wise.
I didn't do anything, you know. Kittle Kitto had a
couple of good catches, especially that one that he juggled

(29:43):
against his helmet. But I mean the defense did his job.
It's just like the offense did not. When you lose
Pollard and and your number two wide receivers doing nothing,
it's like all they had a CD. That was it.
I mean, Schultz got into the end zone. All they
had a CD in that game. Zeke. I mean, Zeke's
like running running in mud right now. So, uh, you know,
the Cowboys will be contenders. They'll probably win ten or

(30:03):
eleven games next year, makes the playoffs and got to
be again. This is what my life is now as
a as a as a fan of the Jets, though, Jason,
I will tell you this right now, if I rooted
for the Jets, I'd be more excited about this team
in the next few years than I have been in
a while, like probably since you know the Rex Ryan
days when you guys were going to you know, the

(30:24):
a f C champions somehow. Not that Sanchez was any good, um,
but I'd be excited. And I set it on the
air a lot this year, and I kept thinking about
you when I said, I'm like, I'll say a lot
of good things about the Jets. Man, what the hell
is going on? Like I think the bizarro world right now.
I really love Breece Hall, Like with Danian Thomason came
on our show and said how great he thought he
was going to be, and he was fantastic. Hopefully everything

(30:46):
goes well from uh, you know, the knee surgery and
he's good to go. Garrett Wilson looks really good. You
get allies, you more kind of you know, back into
good graces, You get yourself, you know, brass and burials
to be in the mix there as well. Tyler Conklin
was pretty decent as a tight end, you know, not
a leap, but still okay, that's another present, Duke. The
last time I just had a good tight end in fantasy,
I think it was like Dustin Kelly. I mean it's

(31:09):
been a long time ago, a long long time ago. Maybe,
like you know, I think it was probably Dustin Keller.
But they they've got all that. There are quarterbacks short
of being a real contender in the a FC Eastern
quarterback short you know, all they need to do is
go out there, spend a little bit of that though,
and get one of that. Which quarterback would you like most?
Cooper Rush? You can follow on Twitter at Michael Underscore

(31:56):
My best friend Mike Harmon. We'll answer a big maybe
the biggest question about Dak Prescott coming up in about
ten minutes. But maybe you saw this story today. The
Angels are no longer for sale, at least for now.
What about the outfield? Uh, the outfield for sale? The
Angels not for sale? The Angels in the outfield maybe

(32:20):
if they're not selling the team. If Arte Moreno's not
selling the team for now, does this mean we get
an extra pillow night with Otani's face on it? How
many promotional nights do we? I would say, I would say,
you're gonna get a bunch in April and May and June,
and then maybe none after July. So we'll have a

(32:42):
close out sale. Look, here's the deal. Here's the look,
here's the here's here's this. Here's my deal. Wait, okay,
this is my using the Goal FIRS tickets. This is
my deal. Here's how easy parking is gonna be. Look? Uh,
Marino pulls the Angels off the market. Now, why he
wanted to sell them? What's the most obvious answer. He
didn't get the bids that he wanted, right, he wanted

(33:03):
to write put interest out there. Someone overwhelmed him with
some grossly over the top offer because of the proximity
to Disneyland and the l A Angels of Annah. I'm moniker, Yeah,
we thought it was gonna have but he didn't get
what he wanted, and or he's getting concessions that he
wanted from the city of Anaheim for whatever he wants

(33:25):
to do. But let's just say for a second, the
offers didn't come because we heard today the big defense
of this wasn't I pulled the team off. You heard
from both Marino and for Mob and Rob Manford's despite
strong interest, he's going to keep the team. Now, why
do you need to tell me they're strong interest. If
he's just gonna keep the team, it's been his team.
He's decided against it and I want to I want

(33:46):
to own the team. Right, you don't need to throw
that out there. But the fact that both the Angels
end Rob Manford said, despite strong interest, we're gonna hold
onto the team. This tells me he didn't get the
offers he thought he was going. He had like two
point two million four it he wasn't getting. You're strong offers,
and then there's strong offers. Right, it could have been
a nice offer, but it's not commensurate to what you

(34:09):
want to sell. Like you know, I have an item,
a baseball card or whatever. You say that's worth ten
bucks to me when the book value is too hundred.
Well it's only worth ten bucks to you, right, but
it worth a hell of a lot more to me.
Same thing with altde Morino here. So how do you
make it worth more money? How do you make a
sale better? What's one thing that prospective owners coming in

(34:31):
might not like. Well, we owe Mike Trout a lot
of money, we owe Anthony Wren done a lot of money. Shoho,
Tani is going to need a lot of money. I
don't know, because we're gonna spend X amount of dollars
for this team, and now you're talking about upwards of
seven hundred and fifty million dollars that we're gonna have

(34:52):
to either doll out or pay out in contracts. So
what does this mean for the coming months? This is
where it gets exciting. How how do you make the
team more attractive? Well, you cut salary, you have prospects,
and then suddenly, all right, I'll bid a little bit
more for it because I don't have to worry about
paying out a billion dollars in contracts to these two

(35:12):
that I'm paying out to these three guys. So what
you will see is Shohyotani get traded. They'll try like
hell to trade Mike Trout, but that's a lot of
money to, dude, do a guy who's gonna be you know,
forty by the time his contract is over. But they
will try. Yeah, but he's at least a guy that
even in injury mired season, you can do. Give him

(35:33):
the old razzle dazzle and Steve Cohen and say, hey, dude,
you want team, you want Mike Trout. You give him
that kind of money for the next few years at
one Watch watch the Angels. Watch that Otani and Trout
to move to trade them, because that will take in essence,
close to a billion dollars off what money you'd have
to pay out, which means, hey, getting more for the

(35:55):
sale of the team would be a little bit easier.
Watch that happen, watch Otani and try out. If I'm
MLB teams and nine and I want one of those guys,
I'm lining up right now. When are you looking at it?
When do you want to do it? What? What's your parameters?
And I start getting ready to put to offer for them? Who?
Who can they get to? You know, take off at
least some portion of Rendn's contract. Arguably the world will

(36:18):
get Otani and rend I'll get We'll do that. Whenever
anybody gets into bad contracts in Major League Baseball. You
can hold up any contract. Nun's worse than his, none
is worth than Rendo's, particularly when you knew you needed
to pay Otani in short order. Just watch Otani traded,
Mike Trout, watch out. That's gonna be fun. Coming up next? Uh,

(36:42):
something new and different? And why Dak Prescott is always
always going to disappoint you. That's next on Fox. They're
still paying Vernon Wells
