(00:45):
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire ract dot com
the way tire buying should be back now. I am
not selling this short right. We have a lot of
things to get to tonight on the show. Look, we
have the finalist for NFL m v P and Co
to the Year, and Patrick Mahomes says he's gonna play.
We got lots of stuff. What's that really him? At

(01:05):
that press comp wasn't don't know. That's just me. I'm
saying I'm ready to play. A d is back really
making his Lakers debut. We got lots of stuff, but
instead Mike and I are going to bring something what

(01:25):
is simply the greatest story in the history of sports.
I I am, I am, I am I underselling this.
This is the greatest story in the history of sports.
This really does rank among the best. We've got a
couple of anniversary things that kind of fun in our
musical and attainment vehicles that we love so much, But

(01:47):
you know what this is. I saw this and just
I had to watch it like four times ago. Am
I seeing what I'm really seeing? The best part was,
you know, you're gonna hear We're gonna worry, We're gonna
set it up. You're talking about Lebron and a d
playing and exactly, yes, exactly, Lebron sitting in the chair
going what the hell am I doing with my life
night watching this video because you don't see it the

(02:08):
first then you see the replay and you go, oh
my god, that's exactly what's happening. Uh. We bring you
the start of the show tonight, midway between the game
of Loyola Chicago and Duquesne. Wait, why are we starting
with Loyola Chicago? That's right, first and only time this
will happen on national radio Ducane, Ducane beat Loyala Chicago.

(02:31):
Why are we starting with us? Well, you know, I
don't want to toss to it. It's middle of the
game action. But I think justin Frostburg can set this
up the best. Uh the audio you are going to hear,
it's really not a lot up at all. And this
is what happens when Jason smith sits courtside had a
basketball game. Somebody came on the floor on the far

(02:51):
side looking for Uber each delivery or something. There is
Karenson McDonald's actually not kidding, I think that's what's happening.
Guys in the corner looked like he was he gonna
deliver the McDonald's to somebody on the court, and we
ruled that out. He's I mean, I think that's an
Uber eat sticker. Is that what that is? I'm trying

(03:13):
to get confirmation Uber eats. Yes. So we saw the
stoppage that the man was, yeah, yeah, this guy is
actually who is he delivering it to? The ref said later,
give it to me later, not now. Philip Alston has
done a lot. I didn't think he needed a big
Mac for sustenance in the middle of the game. But

(03:33):
I'm well the official out there, Timmy he this is
something like I didn't say now later. Yes, none of
that is made up. That is an absolute true story.
Middle of the game tonight between Loyola Chicago and Duquesne
and Uber eats guy with McDonald's walks onto the court.
He is in the corner of the screen. You see

(03:54):
this video, you're gonna just absolutely flip because you can't
see it in the very beginning because they called time
out and they stop and they send everybody each side
while they figure out what the hell is going on.
Then you see the replay and yeah, the guy walks
onto the court, Uber eats delivery guy with McDonald's. He
goes to talk to the ref like, I don't I Jerry,
I'm looking for Jerry, Are you Jerry? Jerry is Jerry here?

(04:16):
He gets into the game. And if this is not
like some of High School Jim where the guy just
walked by because the security guy went to the bathroom,
I mean he's actually on the floor. The game is
broadcast on ESPN. Then he actually walks on the floor
with McDonald's Uber eats for someone walks onto the floor. Now,
my first thought was, if sister Jean needs McDonald's during

(04:40):
a game and calls Uber Eats, you bring that Uber
eats McDonald's Sister Jean, I don't care what you have
to do. You walk through the players. If you have
Ja McDonald, you give her whatever she wants. That's the reason.
And maybe she's McDonald's. I don't know. We've seen all
those reports of people that Hunter five that were smoking

(05:01):
and drinking bourbon. Yeah, exactly, another whole, another avenue. I
have a big Mac every day, had a big every man.
Their preservatives, so they preserve you in the cigarette because
they bring up the idea that you know, the referee
is kind of waving them off, right, So did did

(05:23):
the referee order it for halftime? And they were late
because there's like what sixteen ten left in the second half.
Probably person shows up. You promised it twenty minutes ago. Okay,
I had that big Mac attack and you were supposed
to be here. We had to start the second half.
I let it go as long as I could. I
took an extra television time out because you know we're
on TV for some reason because TV game. Man, it's

(05:47):
not like it's not like it's a non TV where
we could just extend halftime and say, hey, you know
we had all the officials needed, uh, exigent use of
a facility or something. I don't know. Hey, I thought
it was gonna get here soon. You didn't get here.
But really, don't you have to know if you're ordering
Uber eats, it's always gonna be later. I mean, really,

(06:07):
you have to know. Hey, they said he'll get here
at halftime. You should have ordered sooner. What is the
tip for that guy for going on the course to
get you, Like he's risking jail, dude, legendary status for one. Uh, really,
get arrested for walking on the walking on the cot.
I think I think you could get arrested for walking
on the court. Well, I mean you caused the potential

(06:28):
chaotic contorly situation. That's the character from the movie that says,
my job is to deliver the mail. I deliver the
mail no matter what. I will get that mail to steal.
I don't care it's Robert DeNiro from Midnight Run. I'll
get the duke back to l a that's my job.
I don't care. I gotta get this McDonald to somebody

(06:48):
because I got another Uber Eats delivery in my car,
So I'm gonna get this out there to someone right now.
He was dedicated man, Jason, my huge other question, sorry,
Mike real Q only have one. There's a lot. I
have a lot of this. I got a big one.
Wa Frostburg has a supersized question about this story teaching.

(07:08):
How the hell were you in two places tonight? Maybe
I'm sitting in front of us here you were, Huh
what are you doing? You know? Hey? You listen to
some marvelous Hey, listen. I like to spend I like
to spend some time in different places. And if I've
mastered the art of teleportation, maybe this is my first one.

(07:32):
Maybe this is it. Let me, let me do the
test and see if it works. I'll go to a
random college basketball game that probably isn't on television. Oh wait,
it's on TV. Crap that ruins everything, and then I'll
order McDonald's. I'll get it delivered, and then I'll go
do the show like this destroys you getting your sub
in Angel Stadium like delivered to your seat like this
is yeah, out the shame. The food is coming from

(07:55):
outside the arena. Did you hear me? The food is
coming from outside the arena? No? This is definitely better
than that. I mean, Angel Stadium has stuff to live
up to. Now with this, I think we now have
to pick random seats and sections for the next home game. There,
what is it? Cooper Cooper field House? I think I
think we just order, you know, just say hey, section

(08:18):
one oh seven, row four, seed five. You know, Enemily's
time it that it comes out after the dog catches
the final frisbeing after Here's the You want the associated
press recap of the game, Here you go. Here's the
press recap of the game. Date line Pittsburgh, Uh Jimmy
Clark the third had thirteen points as du Cane beaton

(08:38):
Loyola Chicago on Wednesday night and a game that was
briefly interrupted when a delivery person carrying a bag of
food from McDonald's walked onto the core. He was eventually
standing ovation for that, though he was waved off by
a referee. I'm waiving it off. It came after the
with the three cap waving it off. I'm waving it

(09:00):
will not count it doesn't count. But the food delivery
was late, so I get it free. It will not count. Wait,
we're gonna go back to the video review to see
exactly when that delivery walked on the court. Now, apparently
it was a Yeah, apparently it was a guy who
was a fan at the game who ordered the food

(09:21):
in some man. Yeah. I mean, come on, man, this
guy stealing my moves. Man. Uh so I look, everybody
first saw this and fast times of Regimond High when
Specoli had the pizza ordered the class and people tried that.
Everybody did that. Yes, we tried that in high school.
But this is this is like next level because this
guy walks on the court. He doesn't just come into
the arena and look for a guy and go, hey,

(09:42):
I got McDonald's for a guy. Do we know? He
walks onto the court going you know what, I'm never
gonna find this guy because there's you know, dozens of
people at this game because it's Duqueane and Loyola, So
I'm never gonna find this guy. I'm just gonna I'm
just gonna walk and ask the referee. You don't you
don't wait until there's a stoppage and play of not. No, No,
I got to deliver this. So I'm gonna come and
talk to you on the court right now, because I
got the food right in my bag. Right here walks

(10:04):
onto the court. That's a baller move man. Look, I
gotta get out of here. You could probably get the
biggest roar out of a crowd than than anything that
actually happened on the court in the game. Right look
at me, I got McDonald's. What do you think was
in the bag? Expert? Uh, well, I would have to
think it was. It was me. If he's got it

(10:24):
in a bag like that, there's no drink, so that's
the first thing. Well, I'm sure he had a drink.
You know it's from the game. Yeah, I mean he's
got it in the bay. It's a pretty big bag.
So there could there could be like a meat order
in there where it's like a big mac order and
a chicken sandwich and some chocolate chip cookies. Yeah, it

(10:44):
could be a meat order where there's a lot of things.
There could have been a sheet cake at the bottom
of that. I like the fact that he went to
the mea order and adds the and three chocolate chip cookies. Yeah, wells,
but no, but the bag is the bag is waving
too much for there to be a sheet cake in
the bottom there. Sure as hell, we're a nice in
a minute, because that machine was broke. No, but what
he might have done was said, hey, how about you
you need one? You need one? And then you start

(11:06):
going into the app, and there's discounts. If you order,
you know, above a certain threshold, you get percentages offer.
Right now, there's the buy sandwich and get a second
at a discount. There's a lot of ways to to
work this to where you can have copious amounts of
food and take care of a lot of people on
little money. H So, once again, in case you missed it,

(11:28):
second half of Duquesne's win over Old of Chicago tonight
and Uber Eats delivery person walked onto the court during
the game to deliver McDonald's to someone who ordered it. Uh,
we brought you Chase and your meals here. You had
that you we had the super sized version. Now here
is just the regular version of that call. Somebody came
on the floor looking for Uber Eats delivery or something.

(11:51):
There's Karenson McDonald's. I'm actually not kidding. I think that's
what's happening. I think that's an Uber Eats sticker? Is
that what that is? I'm trying to get confirmation. Yes,
So we saw the stoppage that the man was usher.
Let's see if we can see this now, this is
gonna be the turnover and there yeah, yeah, this guy
is actually who is he delivering it to the ref?

(12:13):
The ref said later, give it to me later. Now
on the call there. This is the best ever. I mean,
I mean, there's there's no I mean, really, is there
a story in the world better than this. We'll see
if this w on the court with McDonald's and I
like how he actually walked on where the action was

(12:34):
going on and he wasn't phazed by it, Like it's
not like there was this action going on, like there
was a loose ball where he walks onto the court.
He's like, hey man, I got it. I'm gonna go
to the reft. The players aren't gonna but I'm gonna
go to the ref. He I got I got this, deliric,
I just leave this with you because I got this
stuff in the car. It's already cold enough because it's
Uber eats, and I had to stop and you know
how long it was in the drive McDonald's, which is like,

(12:55):
you know, twenty five seconds away by the time I
parked and open and got in here. It's not gonna
be warm anymore. So can I just give this to you?
Maybe you had to run some stairs. I mean that
might have been a lot of work for that particular
Uber Eats delivery. Well, congratulations to the driver and on
the crowd. Because this becomes a collectible ticket. Oh you know,
you gotta keep the screenshot or go to the box

(13:16):
office and get yourself a commemorative ticket printed off to
say I was there the night that the delivery service Trump,
Revel's gonna get it signed by the Uber guys would know?
Wouldn't you just call this the McDonald's game, right? You
called the McDonald's the McDonald's game, and Revel would do
that too. You mean the McDonald's All American You No, No,
the McDonald's game. Yeah, McDonald's All American, right, Bronnie James, No, No,

(13:39):
the McDonald's game where the guy that had McDonald's delivered
on the court. Not the McDonald's All American game. No, no, no,
Peter Griffin, no, it's a different game. I asked him
to sign, the McDonald's bag and the big Mac container
that he delivered. Tonight show brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

But bundle him all up. Where's the delivery? I don't know.
It says it's a basketball. Just take it, just take it,
deliver whatever, then come back. I got more for you,
all right. I gotta say the only thing that would
have been better is if somehow it had smuggled into

(14:23):
giant satchel and white castles, because now he's feeding a
whole section. Oh you know, then he starts like putting
him in one of the T shirt guns and shooting
him out to everybody. You get a slider? Did you
get a slider? Twitter? And out about a Fresca Mike
and Swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. I really I don't need Aaron Rodgers

(14:44):
and the Jets. I just need the story. That's all
uh coming up? Next. We'll have more on this developing
and breaking story throughout the show, but we do have
big stuff out of the NFL. Patrick Mahomes says he's
ready to go for the a f C title game?
Is he really ready? Ago? And is it gonna matter?
That's coming up next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

(15:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Greetings and welcome inside our three of The
Jason Smith Show with my bas friend Mike Harmen. Somebody
came on the floor, we came on camera. Well, I

(15:28):
mean that kind of goes into I was looking up
some of the boy definitions of one of the uh
well friendly update moments there and it's like, well, that's
kind of where we're headed. Huge boner. I'd like I'd
like to tell everyone I have no control over the
sound that Alex TISCHERT T E I c h e

(15:50):
r T plays on the show. No control over it,
no control control. Somebody came on the floor, were from it? Okay,
you will hear that call in its entirety coming up
in about twenty because you need to hear it because
it's the greatest sports story in the world. From tonight, Yeah,
it is about we. We are gonna have that coming up,

(16:13):
and it is it is. Oh you know, it actually
does take place in Pennsylvania, So or is gonna be
some time for you to talk like this story. No,
it's not. It's it we we it's it is. If
I went to Pittsburgh but I went to via France,
it would be like the no, no, no, you guys

(16:34):
have to just be quiet on this. You guys aren't helping.
You're not helping any situation. You see our side of
the glass where Harmon and I are, we're whiz wit.
You are definitely whiz without right, you guys, stay on
that side of the glass. You're whiz without. Now you're
picking fights, We're like tonight From the tirac dot com studios.
Tirac dot com will help you get there and unmatch selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten

(16:57):
thousand recommended installers. Tirerac dot com the way hire buying
should be so again. Yes, that call in its entirety
coming up in a little bit less than twenty minutes,
I promise you, but big action in the NBA right now.
You got three big games going on right now because
we have the Lakers, the re debut of a d
first game for Ruby Ha Chamura after the big trade,

(17:20):
Memphis and Golden State, and a great one right now
late in the third. It's a three point game. Memphis
leads at eight nine. Uh, time out on the floor.
But let me tell you what's going on right now
in Portland as the Blazers lead the Jazz one ff
to one oh eight. Damian Lillard scored twenty consecutive points

(17:42):
for the Blazers, twenty in a row, part of a
fifty two point night. He had fifty after three quarters.
He slowed down a little bit here, but maybe to
pick it up because the Blazers lead has been cut
to seven. Fifty two points for the Blazer tonight, nine
for four from three point range, also found a way
to dish out at assists, pulled down a few rebounds

(18:04):
as well. Uh. It has been another night like this
where we've seen from Lillard how many times with the
past decade. Right here's a here's a night where the
late games are ending on the West Coast and Oh,
by the way, David Lillards got fifty. David Lillans got
fifty five, lots got forty in the first half. And
I'll tell you the his Wikipedia page is eventually going
to read when he's done playing. Damian Lillard, who started

(18:26):
for the Portland Trailblazers throughout his entire career, shockingly, despite
the fact that many fans and NBA executives and teams
wished he had played for a contender at some point
during his long and illustrious and successful NBA career, because
that's a feel like that's we've been doing for the
past years. We're watching Damian Lillard go. My goodness, what
he can do, My goodness. If he could just been

(18:47):
on a good team. He had his chance to get
out a couple of years ago, they had a chance
to move on. They could have got a lot for him.
You could have put him on a team that we
could actually watch in the playoffs. Passed the first round
more than once, but still nope, nope, Blazer Blazer, Blazer Blazer.
And we're gonna watch this guy play and finish, and
we're gonna go. Man, if you could have one guy
and take him and put him on a contender just

(19:09):
to see what he could do. That guy is going
to be your answer. Signed the extension through the seven season,
so there's still a chance on the back end. But
but to your point, yes, West Coast, we we get
blessed when we're doing our whip around and and watching
the NBA games and and updates, and especially in studio

(19:29):
with a multiple screens on NBA, actually get to watch
him go to work. Amazing thing from this game tonight,
both teams shooting over from three point range at last look,
which is a rarity, uh to say the least. A
lot of teams barely get in free throws. Okay, I
I kid, But an amazing effort from Lillard guy that

(19:53):
we we have the appreciation of. But you're right, you'll
have to amend the wikiped Adia page to really sell
I mean this is this is a player who and
it's not just about being on the West Coast, right,
Because that was an old that was an old argument
that you would get years ago going, oh, no one
pays attention on the gout teams on the West Coast

(20:13):
may will not even play right. And I got part
of that for a while because the late games that
went on. Most of the league, most most of the
fans are in bed. But you're still talking about now
in three when everything is available and the power has
been on the West Coast for a while, the Warriors dynasty,
Lebron on the Lakers. Yeah, it's that. You can't really

(20:33):
say that anymore. So it's not about the West Coast.
It's just Lillard's on a team that is h They're
they're a little bit over five hundred there, perennially the
sixth best team in the Western Conference. They're aparentily getting
knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. In
his career, he's he's gone out in the first round
of the playoffs seven times, uh, since two thousand and eight,
and they didn't didn't make the playoffs three times. So

(20:56):
he's he's never someone who sticks around very long that
they've never been able to build a team around him.
They thought they could. They got to the Western Conference
finals one year. They got there in which wow, this
is great, but they got swept in the Western Conference
Finals because we knew it was one of those Hey,
this is their big victory. They got into the Western
Conference finals. I mean, really, I wish that he would

(21:16):
have gotten a chance. He's still only thirty two and
can put up points like this. I wish he would
have gotten one or would get a chance at some
point to be able to go do this for a
team that really matters, though, But it met in the end.
You can lament it all you want, but you got
to go to the romanticism of, hey, this guy stayed
with one team because he had the opportunity to go

(21:36):
bail and do a super team somewhere else, or maybe
if he was a better recruiter he could have gotten
one together there. How about that. You're blaming him. It's
you weren't able to get guys to come play with
you in Portland. You're gonna be great on the Lakers.
Uh yeah? Because that right, We've only been talking about

(21:58):
that for six years right now, and the Lakers out,
the Lakers get it's not it's not. I wish it was.
I wish it was because he's someone that you see
what he's doing now at thirty two, and it's not
where boyalt no, this He's gonna be this guy till
he's thirty five, thirty six. Like, he's been pretty consistent
with what he's doing and still doing it at this

(22:20):
level at thirty two. Yeah, No, he's got a sweet
spot another two or three more years where you can
still play like this. So I can I can hold
out hope and cross my fingers and go maybe the
Blazer will decide, Okay, we gotta blow it up and
start over. We'll find a way, uh, for for him
to go. We'll find the team that's a great fit
for him, for him to be able to do that,
for him to go do his thing, because hey, who's
who's not gonna want a point guard that can score

(22:42):
fifty a game like him? Who's not gonna want a
guy like that to try to many teams? Well, no,
because we have Jalen Brunson, but you know other teams
you know. But owing back to what Rick Buker said
with us last hour as we started talking about trade
deadline and and not that Lillard on the trade trademarket it.
But let's just back it all out all together. You

(23:03):
know that you've got half the teams that are in
luxury tax problems, right, so it's already mutating some of
the market place there. And then it's like, wait, this
guy makes what how do we make this work. How
many guys make the salary work here via NBA rules
not too not three, not four. I mean, look, he's

(23:24):
gonna hit a free throw here for his fifty five
point of the night. Uh, it's it's an unreal night.
He just had an incredible dunk that got called back
because the foul was on the floor. So that's why
it's the free throw a lot. I mean, he's gonna
be the guy who say, Okay, if you could take
one guy in the last twenty years in the NBA
and I'd say okay, and they say, and you can

(23:44):
put him on a different team and see what happens,
he would be the guy. He because we've seen Lebron
play for eleven different teams, right, We've seen Kevin Durant
play fro We guys change, right, this is a part
of the part. Were ok please staying on one team
for his whole career? Yeah, that normally is great, But no,
don't you want to see what you can do on
different teams. We see all the players leave. We've seen

(24:05):
Janice win and turn the Bucks into kind of a
mini East Coast dynasty here. You know, Midwest di has
already won a championship, we said, but for a guy
that hasn't one, Yeah, Lillard's the guy in the last
twenty years. If you can put him on a different team,
and I'm not saying the Knicks, you know, even though
the Knicks would have been great other day, you could
have put him on a bunch of other teams where
I would say, boy, I'd love to see what he

(24:27):
could have done. I loved you can have done with
the Lakers. Loves you can have done with the Nuggets
or any other team that, hey, you can team up
with somebody really good, another good big or or a
better small forward about you know something else that would
work where you could see him play and see him
do his thing, because he would be a playoff legend.
How many how many if he was someone that went
deep in the playoffs with a better team, how many

(24:48):
fifty point playoff games? Think he would have You probably
probably probably would have had right now. I don't know
six seven of those and in these big in the
Western would have made. But he would have had a
lot of fifty point game because he would have been
on a better team where they say, hey, we can't
just put everybody on him to control him. We need
we need to stop the other guys too. He would
have had that. That's who would have been most final

(25:13):
years when he said honest, yeah, but Kobe one, because
I know I was saying at the last couple of years.
Yeah no, but look, but be honest. One isn't boring.
He's a freak in the sheets and on the court.
Kobe won five titles, so it's okay to Nazi Coban
guys would have won. Okay, hey, if you're winning, stay
where you are and be honest. And still, you know,

(25:34):
in ending the first half of his career, and he's
already got a title, so okay, truly, yeah, I mean
he would have had him and Donovan Mitchell. Will Mitchell's
out there in Utah anymore, right, So I guess you'll
get last twenty years. Yeah, most guys have moved on
to at least one other team. Guys bounced all over
the place. Lillard right now going to the free throw line. Yes,

(25:56):
they're up twelve and a minute and a half left
to go. He's going to the free throw line where
he could wind up with sixty. He makes both these
free throws. He just had a great reverse layup with
a left hand. That was amazing. Uh. And now he
just forced up a shot because he knew he could
get the fouls and go to the free throw line.
I assume he will make both of these get to sixty,
and they'll take him out of the game. And and and

(26:18):
and that's where we're paying so much attention to a
story like this too. It's yeah, yeah, you see guys
score forty every night, right forties big, we see forty five,
we see fifty, Like sixty has become the new fifty
in the NBA, right like, because now, like an age
in society, guys score thirty and thirty five. That's like, hey,
that's a pretty good night. Guys score all forty had
a really good night. Fifties, Hey that was really good.

(26:40):
But I mean usually fifty would be like, oh my god,
the guy had fifty. But now so many people score fifty.
We see it all the time, and now it's sixty.
So sixties really become the new fifty in the NBA.
Just like in life, you know, you keep yourself in shape,
you don't have too many satchels delivered that have fast
food ties to it. You'll be Okay, what about Luca

(27:04):
real quick Luca on a good team. Well, he's still
he's still early in the process though right now, I
don't know. Right now, Mark Cuban's gonna come kick your ass, Frostberger. Cuban,
He's gonna fight you, man. He's gonna bring a shark tank.
He's gonna say he's gonna le guy to be screwed
or the other guy who never actually wants to buy anything.

(27:27):
But just like Picks everybody, I will puff my chest
out at you. Frostberg. He is not gonna He's not
gonna fund your idea, all right, if you do that, right,
He's not My ideas are good. He's not gonna do it.
He's not gonna do it. Twitter and about a Fresca
Mike and Swellen Dome make it two more free throws
for Damian Lillard. He is now at sixty for the game.

(27:49):
I think I could get Cuban on board the team
inspired rage rooms? Could you? I think he put money
into that. How about a poor Zingis inspired rage room.
You think that would one of those in the facility.
You might already have one. You don't know, because you
know Porzingis and Luke are gonna be I mean, they're
gonna be fantastic together, right, we said, oh sorry, way
to sorry. How dare you be sure to catch live

(28:10):

The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
bat Lakers trailing the Spurs right now forty four to
forty midway through the second quarter. A d is back
ruey Ha Chamura making his big debut elsewhere. Golden State

(28:32):
on top of Memphis right now, forty seconds to go
in the first half fifty nine. Golden State playing at home,
so you know they kind of have a chance tonight,
but we'll see getting set to join us on the line.
Rick Buker is gonna stop by he is at Golden
States game. Do you think, Mike that that that that
Buker had uh someone from Uber Eats deliver McDonald's on

(28:55):
the court during the game tonight. I think that would
have been a good bit for for m or someone
else to pull that off on the nationally televised nd
me A game, although I think they've got to deal
with a different distributor of that nature as an nd
me A partner if I if I saw that add
correctly in the last block, So perhaps their rivals would

(29:19):
be smart to come on board that way, that that
kind of load themselves. He's on Twitter at Rick Bucker.
He is at Golden State in Memphis right now. He
joins us now on the hotline, Rick, what's happening man? Uh?
Just enjoying rivalry week. Do you guys have a rival?
Is there a rival? I don't think you guys have rivals? Now?

(29:40):
We are we are unparalleled, crushed right with everybody, but
I crushed them all. Hush, exactly exactly. That's that's what
I assumed. But I just wanted to confirm because it's
it's trade season, so we just can't go out there
with crazy things. We have to confirm what is actually happening.
And so that's what I'm That's that's the mode that
I'm in now. Speaking of crazy, I mean, you know

(30:01):
tonight's game between Loyola and Duquesne in college basketball, uh,
and Uber Eats delivery driver walked onto the court to
try to deliver McDonald's as someone who ordered. They had
to stop the game and figure out what happened. It's
become a pretty big thing. Um that that that was
not Matt Buker. He was not involved in this, right,
I just want to make sure. Uh yeah, what what

(30:23):
was the what was the order? I don't know, we
don't know what the order was. Just a giantel of
food from ecdonald he walked onto the court. Yeah, no,
unless it was barbecue, that it would not have been Matt.
Matt Buker, Yeah, to send you some McDonald's. But it
kind of sounds like something he would do. Okay, you

(30:45):
know what, Actually, on second thought, let me check my
card because because if he's door dashing, chances are I'm
paying for it. I've been known to me. Have you
ever seen anything like that at an NBA game? I
mean a guy walking on a court with Uber eats
to try to deliver it to somebody. No, honestly, it

(31:09):
sounds it sounds like free advertising, sounds like sounds like somebody,
uh put somebody up to it just to make a
splash and have everybody talking about Uber eats. I mean
kind of ingenious in a in a way question Yeah, yeah, sure,
I mean I'm old enough. Remember when Calvin Klein walked

(31:29):
onto the court to talk to Latrell Spreewald during the
game when when the Knicks were playing and he was
gonna inbound the ball and Calvin Klein got up out
of his seat and talking Latrelle for a few minutes.
The game's going out. Okay, I guess he's got something
to say to me right now. Yeah, I missed. I
missed that. Uh, but were you a Calvin Klein guy?
By the way, I have a hard time seeing you

(31:50):
in common Klein. Calvin Klein made really comfortable sweatpants. That
would be me, I'd be Calvin Well said, well, hey,
I'm surprised you're actually gonna come and talk basketball with us,
because I have a feeling your brain has to be
like on the Bengals this week. Am I wrong about that? Oh?

(32:10):
My goodness? Um, yeah, no, it's not my brain. It's
my it's every other part. It's my my my heart
and my uh my lungs and you name everything else. Uh.
It's just, um, the mind has been turned off because
this is still I'm still getting accustomed to this idea
that the Bengals have the potential of going to a

(32:35):
second consecutive Super Bowl. Um. I look, I had not
especially last weekend with with the Bills and the way
the offensive line was playing there. Um, I had my concerns,
but uh, Joe Burrow is playing like a freaking surgeon
getting the ball out of his hands. And I don't

(32:56):
think and I'm sure you guys have talked about it,
but what I get from that team is that they
are playing with a huge chip on their shoulder and
the way the results of the the Bill's situation was
handled only made that chip bigger. And having a collective motive, Boy,

(33:19):
it is tough to beat the talented team when they
have that. And I think that they've over they've overcome that.
And I just want to want to shout out to
all my Cincinnati pieces because, Um, the way they responded
to the Damar Hamlin situation, from the moment it happened
to when he was in the hospital there, the people
that were holding the visual, the way that people have

(33:42):
treated it on social media. Uh, it makes me proud
to say that I am a son of the Natty
because the way that that all the fans, the Bengals fans,
they're responded to that situation is the way I would
hope that every fan base would respond when an opposing player. Uh,
is put in a situation like that or or it's

(34:04):
something like that happens to uh to an opponent that
we look beyond that and we we realized the our
shared humanity. So I really, uh, I'm proud to say
that I'm from the Natty based us on that alone. See,
there you go. It's the best of humanity. Everybody coming together.

(34:24):
And if you're heading to Arizona, Rick will need a ticket, Okay, Rick,
um So, well, you know, I gotta put it out
there while we're at it. Uh So doesn't come Gary
Owen doesn't come through for me. Yeah, I mean I
need to back up for sure. See there you go,
and he got the name drop into Uh that's nicely done. Rick.
So we we look at the NBA the first trade

(34:46):
that goes down, I guess locally we'll look at it
with Ruby Hotchimura, Lebron James putting up huge points, but
many a caption made of his uh well, lack of
interest when he was on the bench yesterday and a
bit sullen. But what what does do for this squad? Uh?
You know the short answer, unfortunately for Lakers fans, is

(35:09):
is not enough. You know what it does? You know,
what ruly does. He takes some of the heat off
of Rafa Linka and Um and talking to scouts about Ruey,
Ruey is, Look, he's a little physically bigger than Kendrick Nunn.
He can give you a little more defense than Kendrick Um.
Whether he's able to knock down the corner three is

(35:31):
really going to determine UM what what he's going to
be able to contribute. He, for what I've been told,
is not a high basketball i Q type player, which
generally doesn't play well with Lebron, and he's had his
own injury history history, so uh, it's I think that

(35:54):
I saw the response from Lakers fans in terms of, hey,
he did something, it was a good job. And Rob
did something, it's it, it improves us, it's a good deal.
And the general response that I'm getting from the league
is Um is a little more cynical, especially when it
comes to this move and the hope that there's going

(36:16):
to be another one. The feeling is Rob did this,
and he gave up the three seconds to do it,
so that basically they don't have any other assets other
than the two first and from everything I've heard, they
are still stuck on not moving though, so he has
the cover of saying, hey, it's not as if I

(36:37):
didn't do anything. I jumped out there and made a
deal happen. And when the trade deadline comes and goes
and nothing else has happened, he can say, hey, look,
you know we were we were aggressive, we got out
there early, and there was just nothing else that came. Uh,
you know that was on the table for us. That
made a whole lot of sense. So we're going forward
with what we've got and we hope that a d

(36:58):
stays healthy and Lebron stays health be and we're gonna
do the best with with the crew that we have.
Rick Buker guest here Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith, Mike Carmen.
All right, Rick, I'm gonna bring you in on a
discussion we had on the show last night, which was
probably the first time this team has been mentioned on
sports talk radio since probably two thousand and six. We
talked about this last night, and I'm going to tell

(37:18):
you this right now. The NBA Coach of the Year.
You can throw everything away. Mike Brown is your NBA
Coach of the Year. I'm not mad at that. I
am not mad at that, especially now you know by
saying that he's gonna get fired, is gonna get him
fired from Sacramento. I don't know what you have against

(37:40):
Mike Brown, but yeah, okay, let's um No. You know
what what I appreciate about that is that, Um, Mike
has clearly evolved as as a head coach. What he's
doing with Sacramento is a reflection of how much he's
grown and that he has become a guy. You know,

(38:02):
there was a time where one offensively he was, he
was a very good defensive coach. I think probably being
with the Warriors, UM has certainly expanded his his portfolio
in in in that regard UM. But I also I
get the sense that he is not afraid to challenge
guys UM in a way that he was not previously.

(38:25):
And so we were actually just joking about it. Um,
there's a couple of a couple of writers and Ray Ritter,
well known communications VP of the Warriors long time, and
we were joking about the fact that the King's becoming
relevant again. UM. You know, it would be the first
time since like two thousand and six that we had

(38:47):
somewhat of a Warrior's king's rivalry. So hoping that uh,
hoping that that that that that comes to bear and
I got I have to tell you, I'm in a
hallway here in the bowels of the arena. I think
king that I had found a quiet place. And I
swear to God, there has been a parade of every
possible like vehicle that you could you could have to

(39:10):
move to move things going by me. It's been everything.
But I feel like I'm there's I'm waiting for an
armored truck to come by next. It's like an airplane
or a scary movie where just something bigger keeps coming by.
Every single time. It's this guy. Yeah, I gotta look
around the corner. See if there's any raptors that are

(39:32):
gonna be coming around the corner. Say there's a guy
on an elephant. Um right, it'll be this in l
A Lebron and a d Or Kauai and Paul George.
Which do will play more games going down the stretch?
Oh wow, Well, probably a D and Lebron Because the

(39:53):
Clippers really, um, all they want to do is have
everybody available at the end of the year, and they
have enough depth that they can make them they can
get a playoff spot. They could they could get one
of the top four playoff spots without playing PG and
kauai Um every night all night. The Lakers can't. The

(40:18):
Lakers can't make the playoffs without Lebron and a D
playing the vast majority of the game. So it's a
matter of urgency and you know what what they have
to do to be in the postseason. And for that reason,
I would expect that Lebron and a D there's at

(40:40):
least the motivation to have them play as many games
as possible, where the Clippers are not motivated to do
that at all. And and when they when they have
a performance like they did against the Lakers where they
basically just show what they're capable of, that's even more
reason for the Clippers to go, Okay, we know what
we're capable love, and we have everybody on the floor.

(41:02):
Let's just make sure that when we get to the
playoffs that we've got everybody available. And that is their
number one priority. So for that reason, I'm gonna go
with the Lakers duo playing more games than p G
and Kui. Let me take you back to what you
started out talking about here before he brought to the
Bengals and and uh, and Mike Brown. Uh he wrote

(41:22):
about this a bit for Fox Sports dot Com. I'm
getting the sense that year, as far as the trade
deadline goes, it's a little it's it's it's way murkier
than it's ever been, and it's gonna be really difficult
to parse things out going forward, well, especially right now,
because one thing that I didn't write about but I
have heard in the last a couple of days is

(41:46):
the Jay crowder situation is really is coming up the
works right now because essentially he's been available since the
beginning of the year for a first round pick, and
now that he hasn't played all this time of uh,
there are suitors out there. There are teams, the Bucks
being one. There's a couple of teams out there that
would love to have Jay Crowder um, but at this point,

(42:08):
not having flight all season long, they're like, I don't
know if we want to give up a first round
pick for And there are other guys that are of
the same ilk or they could you could find a
guy who's kind of a defensive specialists can space the floor,
but they have heftier contracts and would be far more involved,

(42:32):
and you you might have to give up a little
bit more. It becomes a far more involved involved trade,
and so all of the teams that are interested in
making a move are waiting to see what happens to Crowder.
And that's why I think that you could see, like
normally we see some some trade trickle in as we

(42:52):
run up to the trade deadline. Um, we could very
well get down to the last forty eight hours before
a deal achs and everybody is lined up with their
deals subsequent to that first trade happening, and then we
just get an avalanche of deals coming down at the
last second. Um. I think last year we it was

(43:13):
the last week where everything happened, but it happened over
a three day period. I think we could very well
see this year where it's all compacted into the last
twenty four hours. Is part of that. Also, that you
only have two teams in each conference that are have
no chance at hell and making the playoffs. That's a
huge part of it. That's a huge part of it

(43:34):
because especially with I mean the plan, the planned tournament
is doing what I think Adam Silver hoped it would,
which is teams. There's there's I mean, there's a dozen
teams that it could make the playoffs and it could
make it through the plan. Teams are looking at like
at the Minnesota Timberwolves and how their fans reacted and
the fact that they ended up getting uh you know,

(43:56):
they they ended up making playoff money off of just
sneaking into are the play in and UM and how
their fans reacted, and so so owners are looking at
it going, Okay, I could pick up a couple of
million if we make the playoffs, or we could move
in the other direction and try to save a couple
of million by moves we make at the trade deadline.

(44:18):
And and you know, getting off some some contracts. And
there's like a dozen teams that are kind of like
they said, they could go either way, and so the
Milwaukee's and UM Dallas is another team, the Clippers. Like,
there's teams that that are looking to make a deal,

(44:39):
but the market isn't set yet because there's so many
teams that might have talent that would be available, but
they haven't decided whether they want to go get more
talent or they want to get rid of some of
their So to your point, yes, that and and along
with sixteen teams, I think there's sixteen teams right now
that are in the in the luxury tax. And that's
another thing where it's like, if we're gonna go for

(45:01):
the playoffs, as a as scout said to me, because
if you're gonna suck, you want to suck cheaply. So
you know, is your it goes well with Calvin Klein
Jean's knockoffs. Um, very nice, very nice. Yeah no, but

(45:24):
that the uh, that's that's the other factor. I mean
people fans don't like to hear this, but um, teams
are always looking at the bottom line, and when you're
on the on the periphery of making the playoffs or not,
they're weighing what are we paying in the luxury tax
versus what we would make not only just in in
ticket sales for you know, a couple of playoff games,

(45:47):
but in terms of season ticket sales for next year
and corporate sponsors and all the things that when you're
a playoff team like it ends up it ends up
being a calculation, and the guys with the green ice
shades ultimately are very involved in which trades actually go down.

(46:09):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker, that is at Rick Buker.
