dot com the way tire buying should be. So we
were continuing on this conversation we had a few minutes ago.
Tyler Huntley is in the Pro Bowl, and it's just
it's embarrassing on so many level. But because there's so
many different facets to this game, right, like Derek Carr
gets in the Pro Bowl, you could have taken Jared

(01:06):
Stidham over Tyler Huntley because he put more offense on
the board when he played Zach Wilson. No, but that see,
that's what gets really embarrassing is that I can't even
make an argument for Zach Wilson or Mike White over him.
That's how bad the quarterback play is for the Jets.
As bad as v Emeritus. Oh, like, he just comes in.

(01:32):
He gives everybody advice. When you throw the water balloon here,
this is what you want to do. You had a
special tassel on his hat, and that's It's just so
embarrassing that here's a guy that that came in for
an injured quarterback and played six games and threw two touchdowns,
and the Jets don't have another guy that you could
say out played him, right, because Wilson played more and

(01:55):
and and you know, and Mike White didn't play as much.
But I can't say for either of those guys. Now,
Kenny pick it too, he's not escaping this either. But
it's my team and I'd like the either guy that
played for me for my team. Can I say, how
do you not take Zach Wilson to the Pro Bowl?
I can't even say that. It's at least with Kenny Pickett.
I guess you could say, all right, he looked better

(02:17):
down the stretch, and you can try to sell the
Steelers brand, but Jets, we're gonna sell a lot of
sweatshirts and T shirts and hands just saying, hey, the
first year was rough, but he's on the rise. That
I mean, Zach had six touchdowns, Flacco had five. He

(02:41):
at least had a positive touchdown to interception ratio. That's good. No,
it's just I mean, I mean, I feel bad for
the guy on some level though right here's here's a
high of his career, but you feel bad for who
Zach Wilson, No for Hunt and that he becomes the
punchline to all this. Now, his year is what it is,

(03:02):
and he has to recognize the absurdity of the event
that they're putting on. There. Still goes on the resume
as a Pro Bowl alternate, and after next week it'll
just say Pro Bowler. But it's it's hard when we
get to these type of situations and we always talk
about awards and and you and I kind of chuckle

(03:24):
at them, especially when we have you know, the way
they've changed to NFL honors and the pomp and circumstance
in the middle of the award season, right, it seems
like every day it's like, hey, Brendan Fraser one another award.
The hell's given him another award? What do we doing now?
What city? If we've done another film festival? Nothing against him,

(03:46):
just saying, the uh, proliferation of these things is is
next level. But now we had that, they had, the
NBA players have had their own event, all of this stuff,
and and in the end, what do we care and
concern ourselves with? Did you get to a conference title game?
Did you win it to go to the super Bowl?
That's really it. We don't really think think a whole

(04:07):
lot about m vps and whatever else. It kinda shrug
and in the moment goes, Okay, that's pretty cool. It's
a nice debate. And then next year asked me who
finished third? Don't care? Twitter and out about a fresca.
Mike gets swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmen. Now you know how Berman would

(04:28):
announce this. Here we go. I've been I've been saving
this one. I've been saving this one for safe harbor,
just in case Frostburg curses. Okay, good, Yeah, and big
news in the NFL now yet you gotta go with
me a little bit on this so big news in
the NFL today t J. Before the show, I was
talking with George Clooney, because you know, I talked to

(04:49):
George Clooney and we were talking about the Pro Bowl
and what went on and all everything happening. And I said,
I'm curious George Huntley owing to the Pro Bowl. Your thoughts,
Curious George, and that that was that was that was
a nice long road and and and I think everybody

(05:12):
until you said the curious George and split them up,
and they said, oh Huntley, oh Huntley, especially if they're
watching with their kids, that that was pretty good. No,
it's Hundley, what do you do? No, I'm pretty sure
it's Huddly. I watched a lot of Curious George. Was Zoe,
we love Curious George? Oh? Yeah, No. I watched at

(05:38):
Hunley's a Dog Never run out of Town? Who Hunley?
The man with the yellow hat, the series of catastrophes
caused by George on a regular basis of them. His
guy should have been running in running, running him out
of town on the lamb. He's on a boat going

(05:58):
to George. Very curious. Well, that the number of times
a man with the yellow hat decides to do something
and George gets out. I mean, that's it's like, you know, hey,
you're not really taking care of your pets doing this.
He's a horrible parent, he gets by that. Hell does
he keep bringing George back to places in public? George, Well,

(06:18):
you know he's really just an extension At the Dallas Zoo.
Ah insert the headlines. That's I mean, that's insane. That's
I mean, you got animals escaping, getting taken out leave.
I mean, that's that. That's the wild West, that zoo. Yeah,
a couple of monkeys go missing, man, and they think
the monkeys might have been taken right, and they had

(06:38):
the supruder film of suspect that was getting Dallas. The
Dallas Zoo is just riddled in controversy. Man, it's unbelievable
at that we got the Dallas Zoo curious, George curious.
Uh listen that we have everything under control here in Dallas,
where we have a be sure come and my money.

(07:01):
It's okay. I just we're gonna we're we're gonna get
ready for next year, and uh worry about everything else.
Everything's completely under control. I'm gonna try to find a
way to uh trade Doc for Lamar Jackson and uh
make that happen. We let yeah, no, we let him go.
We let we we well, we let him go. Uh
and uh that's a good move by us because, uh,

(07:24):
you know, he was out there for a long time
before we got a new job. I think it was
twenty four hours, maybe it was twenty two hours, maybe
it was eighteen hours. Uh, it took him a long
time to find his next his next job. So now
he's got it with the Herbert fella. So uh, we
we're pretty happy with that. And I'm just gonna have
Mike call the plays. And I'm saving money because I
don't have to pay another guy to call the plays.

(07:44):
So we could take that money and help pay down
Dack's contract. Saves yet at least what a million and
a half to two million dollars? Ye here, right, the
coordinating position. I gotta like Stephen comes into his off,
goes Dad. We got probably what we gotta shave some
money somewhere. What if we got rid of some coaches

(08:04):
and we just gave their their responsibilities to other guys
were already paying What if we did that because all right,
let's make that happen. No, I like that. I gotta say, though,
the the Jerry Jones waxing nostalgic of his dad and
the circuits and all that stuff. Some of the best
audio we ever had of Jerry Jones. Oh yeah, come

(08:26):
see my monkey circumcising pet my monkeys, I mean all
of these things. Wait, I just got an idea. If
we let Zeke go, we do the running back with
Pollard because Pollard is going to be out for a while.
So what if then we took um Dak and played
him at running back and quarterback, and then we have

(08:47):
run we have some plays where the Cooper where Cooper
Rush comes in and he plays quarterback and Dak plays
running back, and then we run those plays. I think
that could work. And uh, yeah, you know what, you
just didn't voked his end though, because you have people
that are gonna get triggered by it going. You know,
if he would have quarterback, then in the playoff game,
we would have won. And uh, I'm also close to

(09:08):
getting Tony back because nobody wants to see him announced
games anymore. So Jim might be able to come back.
Little Jim. Jim can you believe that, Jim. The Cowboys
called me, Jim. They want me back, Jim. This is huge,
This is so huge, Jim. The Cowboys want me back,
like to be a starting quarterback. Jim, Jim. Why you
Why are you shaking my head and saying goodbye? Jim? Why? Why?

(09:29):
Why is the security guy here where the box gonna
get me out of leave Jim? Jim, But I was
gonna finish the game with you here, Jim. No, No,
somebody else goes, Oh, why is Greg Olsen walking in?
Why I'm out? I'm out? Is how it's a Jim Jim.
I thought we were friends. Jim recognized all of those
uncirculated Tony Romo Jerry Cowboy bucks. Uh. Uh that's uh,

(09:52):
that's that's uh, that's that's that's how it's gonna go.
I'm just I'm just telling you right now, that's how
it's gonna go. The Jason Smith's with Mike Carbon Live
from the Tire dot Com Studios. Now, Sean Payton other
big news of the day today. While Tyler Huntley to
the Pro Bowl was your appetizer for Sean Payton getting
back in the National Football League and the deal is

(10:13):
going to be this. The Broncos get Sean Payton and
a third round pick from the New Orleans Saints. The
Saints get a first and second round pick from the
Denver Broncos. And for a while you knew that this
was a little bit at least a little bit acrimonious
with the Saints, because you know that Sean Payton's not
gonna go back and coach there. He walked away. He

(10:35):
wants to go someplace else, wants a new destination. The
Saints had no bargaining uh high ground at all. Like
they they had no cash, they had no leverage, especially
with all these jobs drying up and nobody going anywhere,
and they're looking at man, we're gonna go through this
other offseason. Payton's not gonna play for us, We're not
getting any draft picks. And still they were able to

(10:59):
make this move with the Broncos really the only team
left for Peyton, right because he wasn't gonna go to Arizona,
wasn't gonna go to Tennessee, wasn't gonna go to UMU Indianapolis,
and so now it's okay, where's he gonna go. So
there's really one team that had talked to him that
was out there, and they still got a first and
the second round pick for him. That's pretty that's a
pretty good move by the Saints because you had no
leverage and you still got that from a team. Now,

(11:21):
it's worth it, right. It's one of those things where, oh,
this is not they took advantage of one team. This
was the Broncos. Are are a head coach away from
potentially running the a f C. West, a guy that's
that good of of of an offensive mind. And Sean Payton. Yeah,
this is a good Hey, it's a great trade for
the Broncos. But man, I'll tell you, for the Saints
to get a first and a second round pick, you're

(11:43):
gonna restart your team now, and you can you can
move up, if you want to get a quarterback, you
can move back. You can do so many different things.
You can go get Derek Carr because you know day
I'm gonna go, Hey, New Orleans, come get me. Man.
I'm happy. I really, I was really impressed with the
Hall of the Saints guy, because I thought, for sure
the Saints are gonna have to back off there. We
want two first round picks this one. In the end,

(12:04):
they didn't get to first. I got a first and
the second, but they still got way more than I
thought they would. No, and that's it. It's it was played,
played it perfectly and really a bit of a surprise.
I think both you and I and a lot of
the football love and football commentating world had really resigned
themselves to the fact that this wasn't going to happen,
that Sean Payton was going to be back on Colin

(12:25):
Cowherd's couch and hanging out on the NFL on Fox
uh sets going forward for at least another year, and
that the Saints were gonna have to wring their hands, going, ah,
we didn't get the Hall. We needed to restart things,
so we've got to wait another year instead. Well, now
they can go into the marketplace if they want to
give up one of the I don't know what it's

(12:46):
gonna cost for Derek Carr. I've seen some people saying, well,
both those picks will need to go. It's like, really,
Derek Carr, when you can sit and wait and play
hungry Hungry Hippos before he gets released, I don't, I
don't know. You have a bunch of needs on that squad,
But you know they announced that Pete Carmichael is staying around.

(13:07):
Dennis Allen still there. So you've and you've got some pieces,
You've got decisions to make with Camara. You have no
idea what Michael Thomas is, but a lave is a
hell of a player. Taysom Hill ended up being the
Swiss army knife that it looks like every NFL is
gonna be trying to find going forward after what happened
to the San Francisco forty Niners in their playoff game.

(13:28):
But for Denver, uh, they get their their guy that
that's going to come in. The ownership saying George Peyton,
you don't have to report to him, You'll report directly
to me. That was I'm sure that was part of
the fight though. It's like, all right, we're gonna Peyton
wants control. Peyton still thinks he has some, and the

(13:49):
ownership group says, yeah, George, back off here. Uh we
we we want to we bring in this guy and
see if we can't jump start this on a whole
other level. I'm curious what the Saints do though, right
what what the domino effects are and who they're able
to bring in. Whether you see um one of these

(14:10):
big chips, uh Land there in the quarterback carousel because
the opportunities there in that division right to to go
and make a splash and get good fast. You've got
a defense that can play, so you're adding those draft picks.
Gives you some some work and some leverage to to

(14:31):
play in the marketplace over the next couple of months.
We'll see if they play it right. Twitter, and how
about a fresca Mike, It's smallen dome. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon coming up. We
have a huge Jim. It's huge him. It's I talked
to Jason Smith. He's got a huge poll prediction. When
Jim Jim, Jim, Jim, Chip Chip Chip Chip Chip. When

(14:52):
it comes to Dejim and Russell Wilson plus Jim. As
much as I don't like it, it looks like I'm
pretty I have to accept where Tom Brady is gonna
end up playing football next season. That's straight ahead right here,
Jason and Mike Fox. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

(15:16):
and the I Heart Radio app. Fox Sports Radio The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Sue,
I feel like we're in a movie montage scene from
a Beverly Hills cop movie. It's Banana and the tailpipe. Baby,
let's go watch watch Eddie Murphy do something back when

(15:36):
he was funny. Judge Reinhold is there just because he
has to be mock tra with Judge ron holes with
Judge ron Um Bex. I told you watch you people
right the other night. It's it baffles me the fact
that Eddie Murphy has just stopped trying right like that.
That's what I don't get is that he had a

(15:58):
role in this where he he could have been the
thing from this movie, like like going in, it's like,
oh my god, he's gonna be hysterical and it's gonna
be like I thought he's gonna have a role like
when he played Kit Ramsey and bow Finger, which was
I mean tears in my eyes. He was so funny
in that. I think it's the last thing he really did.
He was really good. And but I'm like, okay, alright,

(16:19):
little understated in this role, but I'm like okay, uh
oh okay. Now he's now he's just he's just kind
of there. And that's not either he's given up or
he's forgotten how to be funny. I mean, I mean
maybe being funny as a skill and you and you
forget how to do it. But I gotta think, when
the cameras are on your rolling and you've done this before,
I'm like, why is he not funnier? Why is Eddie

(16:40):
Burfi not funnier? I don't know. Solo Mite was good.
I remember enjoying that. It's been a minute since I've
seen it, but I enjoyed that he's openly clamoring for
more um Shrek work. And since they're building out more
Shrek stuff, they took away some of the uh Shrek
stuff at the theme parks, but it looks like Disney

(17:01):
is getting involved with some of that, so that could
be uh, a new whole world there for Donkey stories.
And I said something because you brought him up all
of a sudden, Well, now the walls have ere so
my phone is suggesting stories about Eddie Murphy. Uh yeah,
so screw you. And it was a an interview he
was doing with Kimmel where Kimmel goes, wait, so you

(17:23):
have the original Good Times painting. It's like, yep, like, wait,
what he's got. He's got the paint J did. Really yeah,
he's got the the painting from the opening song segment.
And I guess a copy of it sold for sixteen

(17:45):
million dollars because think of what I got. Wait, a
copy of it went for sixteen millions. Do you think
the person thought they were buying the original? I mean
just uh. It's like when you do prints of stuff,
there's there's still uniqueness to it. In this case, I
guess it was, you know, a second version of the
original that that went for this crazy amount. And he's

(18:09):
got the the original one that he bought from the
estate of Martin gay woway At it had it and
then Eddie Murphy said he paid fifty grand for it
in an estate auction. The other thing went for sixteen
Really want to talk about a return on your investment? Kid,

(18:30):
Maybe you don't have to be funny anymore when you
get paintings laying around like that. This is like Todd
McFarland going when I paid three million for home run
ball number sixty seven, man that I get screwed in
the moment. It's like you had to have it. Uh.
So we were talking about Sean Payton and Denver and
now that he's going to be the head coach in Denver.

(18:53):
This is Look, I'm gonna shock you when I say this,
fully knowing that the Chiefs are getting set to play
for the Super Bowl in in in ten days. But
there's a reason why the Broncos gave up what they
gave up for him. Look, we give a bunch of
first round picks for Russell Wilson, will give up a
first and a second for Sean Payton now and now
I don't know who picks in the first round sooner

(19:14):
the Lakers are the Broncos. I have no idea, but
they gave up a lot. And when you give up
a lot for a coach, hey, look at the guys
that have been given up that that you have been
given up for compensation in the past. It's Bill Parcels,
it's Bill Belichick. Like it's worked out right, except for
her Edwards, but it's worked out. But making me, it's
worked out. The coaches that have been traded, it's been

(19:37):
well worth it, right, So you get Sean Payton is
one of the best offensive minds in the game. The
last twenty years and the fact that every quarterback that
has played for him when he was with the Saints
has achieved. Right now, you think, all it's Drew Brees. No,
but Drew Brees. And when Drew Brees got hurt, you
had guys come in and play and put up numbers,

(19:58):
all different from all different walks life, all with different
skills such as quarterbacks. But Drew Brees gets hurt. Teddy
Bridgewater comes in, plays extremely well, gets a big contract
to go play Carolina. Has never been the guy he
was there, but he was really, really good. He was
the best quarterback he ever was in New Orleans. Taysom
Hill gets a gig and suddenly he's a dual threat quarterback.

(20:19):
He turns it into a contract to stay with New
Orleans and you think he's gonna be a great quarterback.
He wants to going back to playing tight end, but
he was a big dual threat guy and he played terrific.
Jameis Winston, if the guy didn't get hurt last year,
he might be another guy getting a ton of money.
But now is starting days are over because he had
a bad injury. But he was playing fantastic before he

(20:40):
got hurt. A year ago they were in first place.
He was fourteen touchdowns and three picks. Everybody that has
played quarterback for Sean Payton, his system is succeeded. So
I'm gonna think that Russell Wilson is gonna be able
to do it. Sean Payton is gonna have an unbelievable
impact on the Broncos, who are already a loaded team.
People forget all the drama with Russell Wilson and you

(21:00):
cut that out for a second and you go, man,
there's so much talent on this team. They have a
top three defense, maybe top two defense. Maybe only the
Niners have a better defense this year than the Broncos.
Did you have weapons on offense? Yes, you had Tim
Patrick at hurt, but you have Sutton and Judy and
you have a you know, javanto One is coming back.
He's gonna be healthy next year. You have a lot

(21:20):
of weapons there, and you can fix Russell Wilson. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure that that Sean Payton can fix Russell
Wilson because and all you throw all this in and
I'll tell you this right now, Broncos are winning the Act.
They will win the a f C West next year.
I like the bold proclamations. Look, it'll be good for
several wins. I would agree with some of the logic

(21:43):
flowing out of x NFL players and analysts today as
this was coming to fruition and still waiting to cross
the t's dot the eyes, etcetera. But you know the
compensation has been reported to your point. Maybe the Broncos
if Peyton has success. Unfortunately you have to wait to

(22:06):
see it materialize, but maybe they can help bolster the
confidence of people in the Lakers organization that you can
trade those remaining first round picks and go get what
you need to go be a winner. About that be
a winner today, but for the the odds go from

(22:29):
forty to one to one to win it all, and
the expectation would be that your competitive right chiefs are
what they are, and Kelsey's under contract, Mahomes is signed.
Still need to I guess long term you'd say solve
this that the other. But they seem to be working
out just fine, so long as Andy Reid and Patrick

(22:49):
Mahomes and Travis Kelsey the Holy Triumvirate as it were,
are there, and then Veach and company on the defensive side,
so they're they're just fine. Um, the Chargers a lot
of on on that roster. If you can get them
all to play together and keep them healthy and Slater,
it'll be back on the offensive line. Better better news

(23:10):
for Herbert. But the question can you keep the receivers healthy?
Can you keep Derwin James and Bosa and the guys
on the defensive side healthy. And we didn't even make
mention of Bosa getting into it with Eagles fans talking
about how Richie was that moved moved. Come on, you're
better than that. Uh. And it's more than he said
to us where we interviewed him at Radio Row a

(23:31):
couple of years ago. He was coming and coming into
the league. Uh. He was a man of few words.
So it's good to see that he's really come into
his own uh with his verbosity. But the the what
you got the Raiders of the Raiders, I don't I
don't know how much deeper you need to go than that.
So the opportunity is there even within the division to

(23:54):
to go claim a couple of games. And and as
you said, the defense is ready. You probably need to
go find another running back. But as we've seen from
a number of teams, he can find that, and you
can find it cheaply. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. We talked about Tom

(24:16):
Brady last night and and the the fit with the
forty Niners and that that could potentially be a landing
spot for him, And I'm not sold that that's the
best spot because of the type of player he is now.
But I don't know that that matters because with every
day that goes by Mike and seeing what the fall
in to the NFC Championship game was, I feel like

(24:39):
Brady to the Niners is kind of like a fatal
company at this point, Like it's it's just it's inevitability,
and it's official without kind of being official because we
know they've had interested him in the past. It's kind
of cooled. Hey, we drafted trade Lance. Well, look how
good brock Purty is. But now after the NFC title
game as well, brock Purty is gonna be out until
probably August. Oh, he's not going to get any reps

(25:02):
this offseason. Trey Lance is coming off a big injury.
Is he going to be the guy? Are we sure
that it's Tray Lance. Um, hey, Brady wants to come here,
we don't have to spend a lot of money to
get him. We're not spending money on quarterbacks now, We're
spending nothing on Purty. And it's a it's a rookie
contract for Trey Lance. So yeah, he's not gonna ask
for a lot. We'll pay what we're paying. Jimmy g

(25:22):
he'll probably want about twenty million guaranteed, will do it.
And Brady gives us that hope next year that if
he bounces back, he wins the super Bowl and if not, well,
we have Lance, we have party. We can figure something
else out. I just feel like there's too much momentum
towards that happening. Now. You hear stuff in the media,
you hear what players who are familiar with both the

(25:43):
Niners and Brady are saying, and they're they're all kind
of funneling him towards San Francisco, and it's it's one
of those Uh, you can't stop. This train has left
the station now. And while I I would like him
to go to Vegas, I think Vegas is probably the
better fit for him, and maybe they would want to
give him more money. But this whole San Francisco thing,
you know, that's where he would want to end up.

(26:05):
It seems too enticing to say, hey, we can bring
in Tom Brady and he can be our our our
star quarterback and get us that elusive championship because our
team is ready to go. I I just don't know
that there's any other result right now except that for Brady,
it's Brady San Francisco and we just just have to wait.
Is it gonna be sometime in February before free agency?
After what when's it gonna be? Like, We're we're gonna

(26:27):
find out at some point and it's gonna happen. Yeah.
I think when you get down to it, those are
the two betting favorites by far right now right now
are the forty Niners, followed by the Raiders, And I
think both work from a personnel standpoint. Raiders have a
little more work to do in terms of retaining some
of their their talent and making the evaluation of of

(26:50):
what you want to do long term. Uh. Not having
signed Josh Jacobs, he said every all the right things
of wanting to stay with the Raiders, but let's face it,
there's a big marketplace that he had a fantastic year
where you may have some of these teams that look
at the success of the run heavy squads and say,
you know what, we bring that guy in and he

(27:11):
stays healthy. Uh, he fixes a lot of our ills,
so he's gonna have a market for sure, um Waller, Renfrow,
et cetera. We know what the offensive line is better
than I think we anticipated coming into the season, but
still light years away from where it needs to be
in defensively atrocious oftentimes during the campaign, so not a

(27:36):
ready plug and play at the division factor, if we're
going to talk about the Broncos on the rise, well
that means three teams you're chasing, so that's not good
for business. As for the forty Niners, rams are in
a what are we kind of mode they brought in
the floor. I think that's it I've done. If they

(28:01):
brought brought Peter and at least you can blindfold him
and he's gonna hit the target every once in a while. Uh.
Because that's a good point about Brady because where is
his path of least resistance to a superl Is it
in the a f C wet Look the NFC's in
the NFC week, it looks to be so weak right now.
Gino Smith is the best quarterback in the division. Right now,

(28:21):
Kyler Murray is not gonna be ready to answer the bell.
The Rams are coming back. You don't know what Matt
Stafford is gonna be, Cooper Cup coming off an injury.
But but just keep going way to get that in
every night leading to the Super Bowl. Check check check U.
But you look at San Francisco other than this Trent

(28:44):
Williams story today, which is something that bears watching. Kind
of talking about the grind and how grueling it is
to get through to the end of the season. And
you know we've done this oftentimes Jason in the NBA
when we talk about playoff runs and what it is
extending a season a couple of weeks, a month and
a half, whatever the case. Maybe it depending how deep

(29:07):
you go into the playoffs. Same thing for the NFL.
All right, you're still grinding extra sixty snaps, plus you're
the wear on your body there. It's it's something for
Trent Williams if he's deciding potentially to walk away, now
that's those are some pretty big shoes to fill. But
otherwise you've got a full complement of weaponry on the

(29:28):
offensive side and and a defense that's gonna be top tier. Yeah,
change in coordinator, but you know the personnel will mostly
retain be retained. So if you're Tom Brady from a
I want to win and keep as stacking chips to
distance myself from everybody else. I mean, that's that's the
easiest path. Most likely that's still out there, look at

(29:52):
and I'll I'll give you one more on it. Is
that everybody is wondering, well, if they get Brady, what
would they do? Would they be able to trade train Lance?
He doesn't have a lot of trade value. Niners will
keep all three of them because they can. They don't
need to Look, would it be nice to trade trade
Lance and get a second round pick or do something? Yeah,
but you're still not sure about your quarterback room, right you?

(30:15):
You you it's you're taking a risk on Brady. You
don't know about Purdy, you don't know about Lance, So okay,
you gotta kind of throw uh, you know, quantity at
it a little bit. You don't have to do that
because you're not paying these guys all this all the
trade trailer. No, they'll keep all three of them. Purdie
is not gonna be healthy. Someone's gotta back up Brady.
If something happens to Brady or he's not good, someone's
gotta go in. Would you rather be Tray Lance, who

(30:37):
has been in the system for three years or somebody
else I gotta signed off the street bringing C J.
Bethort or someone like that. No, I have the Niners.
If they do Brady, they will keep all three of them.
And those will be the question, and we'll say, what
a quarterback room. You have the future Hall of Fame
and maybe the next Tom Brady and a guy with
incredibly different skills set today draft the number three overall. Oh,
look at the quarterback room. The Niners know how to

(30:57):
do it right. Kyle Shanahan is great. I'm giving all
kinds of material for tomorrow. This is how it's gonna go,
That's how it's gonna go. Well. But but I think
there's something to be said with that. When you've got
a salary cap that's gonna go up nearly seventeen million dollars, Brady,
who has shown throughout his entire career and maybe uh
the f t X losses and lawsuits means he wants

(31:18):
to get a little more money than he would have otherwise.
But you're looking at a guy who had done that
for so many years, taken less than the market rate,
and everybody got mad at him. It's like, you know what,
he's an outlier. The market gets set by the rest
of the people. Uh, the one guy that's off here
on his own dot well off the line doesn't matter.

(31:38):
When you're trying to negotiate, you ask if they you
can get the Tom Brady rate. They tell you to
go to hell, and you get back to negotiating based
on what everybody else has gotten and where where you
fall in line there but with with Brady and if
Williams were to step away, and then yeah, now now
you've got money to go into the marketplace because don't

(32:00):
have to worry about solidifying the backup position, at least
on paper. Now we'll see how quickly Pretty responds to
his rehab and whether he needs surgery or not. And
Trey Lance is just a huge wild card at this point.
We have no idea what he is that keeps seeing
the notes of what they have to see what they have.
It's like, no, they don't, yes, they would they like

(32:23):
to see a return from what they had given up
to get him. Sure, but that's also a sunk cost
at this point, that's a couple of years ago. If
he's not that guy. He's not that guy, and you
can't force feed is like, damn it, We're gonna maybe
take a bunch of losses just because we want to
find out. Be sure to catch live editions of The

(33:29):
one eight hundred Progressive That Lakers Win brought to you
by Julius Randall, who stunk out loud in the last
minute of regulation, and in overtime I still can't get
over the last shot of regulation. First of all, the
Tom Thibodeau would call a play up for anybody that's
not Jalen Brunson as hot as he was. Two hoops
in the last eighty seconds, and an assist to set

(33:52):
up another hoop, and he takes the charge on Anthony
Davis to give him the ball back with four and
a half seconds. No, let's give it to to Julius
Randall with four and a half seconds left. Watch him
stand there not knowing what to do for two seconds
and then try to get off a really bad shot
on the baseline that wouldn't have counted anyway because it
was after the buzzer, And I had to watch Jalen
Brunson stand outside the three point like, going, hey, I'm

(34:14):
wide open, Give it to me. I'm wide open. Why
would you call these plays for Julius Randall? You think
they would learn? But no, No. But then in overtime
Julius Randall makes up for that by two by having
to really bad turnovers, including traveling after the Knicks get
the ball back after a misshot when they were down five.
Nobody gets called for traveling in the NBA, except for

(34:35):
Julius Randall in overtime. He completely brought the Lakers that win. Congratulations,
look at that. Not not even gonna give credit Lebron
or any of the plays down the stretch. Uh, shrewder
with a couple of free throws. I mean, whenever you're
just kicking it all away and you actually add Anthony

(34:55):
Davis and Lebron James play tonight, they could bind for
fifty five uh and nineteen between them. Lebron's got a
triple double uh, showing you how important it is. Telling
everybody beat it up getting that record. I'm snatching it
from Kareems. Take that statue down and build a bigger
one of me and had I am. I don't care

(35:23):
Randall was before that crappy move like I don't want
Why why do you have to call that You can't
give the ball to Julius rand at the end of
games because he can't hit threes enough and he's not
physical enough to get to the hoop that you throw
another body on him and he can't get there, and
he can't get there, and he backs off, he takes
a jumper. I don't know what Tom Thibodeau as much

(35:45):
as I like, and he should be fired if he
calls up another game winning play for anybody not named
Brunson or Barrett. That's just ridiculous. But on a positive note,
your starters went four for twenty four from three point
range and you still only lost I six and Oak
for a time. No, it doesn't make me feel better. No,
it doesn't, not at all. It does not make me

(36:05):
feel better. Comical they did. They were affected from the
free throw line. They were twenty eight of thirty two
from the night. Uh, that's pretty good. Yeah, they only
had nine turnovers. They won that battle. Yeah, no, no,
that's okay, all right? Out rebound in the Lakers by one.
I mean they had They were so effective on that
one sequence they got to put up four different shots.

(36:30):
Charlie Brown called the Knicks he wants his haircut back from.
I'm sure he does. Went down by the way. Now, hey,
speaking of triple doubles, Lebron with a triple double tonight,
of course, because he loves Maddison square guard. You know
how much I love playing the uh Nicole concert venue.
He had been no meaningful basketball there for fifty years. Sorry, yo, kids,

(36:54):
didn't just we went to the finals and so so
blank you work out, Nicole Lekich, kill you. Frostberg didn't
just have a triple double tonight twenty six points, eighteen rebounds,
fifteen assists in the Nuggets one went over the Pelicans.
And I'll tell you this right now, if you had to,

(37:16):
if we started the NBA Finals right now, the Nuggets
would beat everybody in the East. And sometimes it's just
a matter of getting healthy. Look that Nicola Yokich is
playing like this a year ago, but they were unhealthy.
But now you have Jamal Murray back, who was close
to being the same guy he was. He had thirty
two tonight. Porter is healthy. It was a couple of
years ago I said the era of the Nuggets is coming.

(37:38):
I think it's here. You played the finals right now,
Nuggets would be everybody, seven guys averaging double digits each night,
and Porter Junior and Murray still rounding into shape. Very
dangerous team. Second half of the year. Twitter at how
about a fresca? Mike gets swollen down on The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next,

(37:58):
my buddy Ben Maller. Thanks Julius Randall, thanks for that
big Ell. Tonight, This is Fox
