becomes a free agent. The two teams have wanted where
the Jets and the Vikings, and kirk Cousins even admitted,
we're gonna let the Jets come in and swoop in
and offer all kind to stuff and then go to
the Vikings say, okay, here's the offer for the Jets.
You gotta match it. The Vikings matching, that's where he
wanted to go. I've kind of celebrated the career of
Kirk Cousins in every way possible. That's why pissed me
off of the Jets all the more because like, you

knew this is gonna happen. You knew he was gonna
use you just to go someplace else and change quarterbacking
forever because they guaranteed all his money and that changed.
Now everybody wants guaranteed. Mind, it was just a few
years ago that, but now you have to Shawn Watson
getting two and thirty million dollars guaranteed there, Kirk Cousins
was ninety million. It was ninety million guaranteed. I remember
saying at the time, all quarterbacks are gonna want this. Now,

this is gonna change everything. And it did. But like
I say, hey, this show bold predictions, but this is
how it's gonna go. The Jets already said we're going
all in right, Yes, we'll give you the two first
round picks. Wouldy Johnson would happily give that up. We
got to figure out Aaron Rodgers money. Aaron Rodgers gonna say, okay,
going to the darkness, Green Bay, let me know. And
the Packers said today they want things solved before free agency,

and Rogers just seemed to be on that timeline. All right,
let me know what happens. And the Packers are gonna say, okay, Jets,
what do you want. Let's let's do something. Okay, two
first round picks, yes, okay, let's figure out the money,
make it work. Okay, great, Aaron Rodger's gonna come out
of the darkness going. What did the Jets say? Well,
they said two first round picks and they're gonna do
this with the money. Okay, we know what to do now, yep,

Mark Davis, Yeah, Hey, the Jets gonna give us those
two first round picks and they're gonna do this with
us for the money. What about you? Oh, three first
round picks and and you're gonna pay his entire contract.
Oh hey, congratulations, Mark Davis. You just bought yourself a
quarterback and he's gonna go to the Raiders. And that's
how it's gonna go. And the Jets are gonna be

sitting around going, oh, we gotta get somebody, and they're
gonna end up with Jimmy Bleep and Garoppolo. I just
know that's how what's gonna go. They're gonna end up
with Garoppolo. They're gonna say the cartfort level. Now he's
gonna sign too early. He's he's he's already signed. He's visiting.
He said, if the Jets were gonna get him, they'd
be in on. But now they're waiting. They're waiting. I
know how this is gonna go. I mean, too many
people that had to go to NFL Honors because of

I mean, they've got nobody actively working the phone. It's

gotta play Jimmy garoppolo Jimmy. Now you're gonna play trade lance. Well,

go back to trailers. What about getting somebody else? No,
now we gotta go here. They have mismanaged everything with
their quarterbacks, keeping Jimmy, not keeping Jimmy playing trade lance,
not playing trade lance, and now they're gonna step in
it again. Tray Lance is our guy next year. But
Aaron Rodger isn't going there. Okay, here, they could be
in the market for another quarterback. I wouldn't be surprised
depending on what reports they get out of Party because

his surgery will be before free agent. Don't find that.
They'll find another guy, but it'll be a low low end.
I mean, there's plenty of It is a very long
tale to the end of available. I would be surprised
that that's where Ryan Tannehill ends up. That could but
he making it. Although did that's gonna en up with Tannehill?
I get end up with that, all right, So you're
gonna get either Tannehill or car So. But the whole

Aaron like I feel like it's like the Jets. They're
going down the same road again, and it's did we
not just see this? How this happened with Kirk Cousins.
They're gonna wait, and they're gonna wait and Aaron rodd
they're gonna wait at Aaron Rodger's decision, and Roger's gonna
decide go it's the Raiders, it's where, and then the
Jets are gonna go. Now we're stuck, right because now
that they wanted him, But Derek Carr is gonna be
somewhere because remember he can go somewhere before free agency begins.

how much better are these guys? And I should say
that's what's gonna happens. We're gonna get everybody from that draft,
Baker May, Sam Donald except for Yeah, we'll get all
the bad. But that's how it's gonna go. And I
feel like I'm now I'm at the point where I'm
waiting for that inevitability that i just know it's gonna

end in heartbreak and they're not gonna get Aaron Rodgers,
and it's gonna be somebody else that they settle on
that's not going to excite anyone. Except he's not Zach Wilson.
That's the only thing I will go back to. He's
not Zach Wilson. He's a little bit better. And if
we get somebody a little bit better, we can win.

I mean we did have the report from medical UH
officers that they expect him to be able to play again.
So I mean that's a big story here in the
middle of Super Bowl week, because I mean, that's just
awesome to have a big speech at the end of
NFL honors, So awesome, and I love that you know
something that we knew a little bit. But Susie Colbert,
who I worked with for a long time at ESPN,
we did a lot of UH sketches together and stuff.

She was a lot of fun. Voted the Bill's trainer
m v P today. How about that. I thought that
was pretty cool. Uh, if you could have voted him,
if you could have given him and the madamous m
VP people just said, yes, yes, it's great. Touchdowns are great.
Saving a life is better. He could have won. It
would have been, Oh my goodness, I mean, what what
you talk about? What a message that could have been.

And that's awesome. She gave her her Super Bowl or
m v P vote to him. Well, always keeping not
you know, got to give another nod. As the season ends,
Hambling gives the speech, but you know, something symbolic of
what the year was and and some of the big
moments that transpired, and certainly one that shook the NFL
had people looking at things. Uh, perhaps a little differently

than they do on any given Sunday. And for you
and I and and for all those that work in
these these chairs and in this in in the media business,
or in the business of football altogether. Frostberg working with
the Chargers, we know how much and how important the
training staff is for each team. We talk about player

availability from even the smallest things, but recognizing the training
and the quick response required in all of these circumstances,
and it's still just one of those modern marvels. How
quickly they acted and how quickly we started getting positive
reports within days of all of that going down. The

triumph of not only your training but also man, the
human body is an amazing thing, isn't it? Man? I'll
tell you. Uh. Now, the m v P vote did
come down, and again great vote by Susie Colbert, but
it was forty eight to one in favor of Patrick
Mahomes over Jalen Hurts. Now, remember before the season started,

I told you Jalen Hurts was gonna win m v P.
I'm still gonna take the w because I bought him
from out of nowhere and got him to the cust
But you know what, if you don't win it, you
know what you get out of that. But you don't
get a damn thing. But I got no, no, no,
because here's you could have done. Because what did I
tell you I would have done towards the end of
the year, you could he got hurt. I would have
hedge and I would have I would have pocketed let's

go my homes. Right, he got hurt. To go Mahomes. Um,
I disagree with this, and I know it's four weight
forty eight to one the m v P vote. There's
nothing that tells you more about it being a popularity
contest than the fact that Mahomes forty eight I mean contest.
But the way you frame it and the way you're

positing it out there, and if we were to capture that,
just that sentence and and put that as a lead
you want to talk about a click made headline, however,
was but by the way you phrase it, like yeah,
you're detigrading the year that Patrick Mahomes had what I
say was fantastic year. When I say popularity contest, I
mean this. No one enjoys a better image in the

NFL than Patrick Mahomes. The two athletes that enjoy the
best images in sports are Patrick Mahomes and Steph Curry.
They enjoy better image. They can that whole thing about
the housing development that Curry and his people are trying,
that might people can turn on him pretty bad. Let's
see how that because us wills it was MR popularity
for a while, some of the people who voted for

Russell Wilson will take no. No. Those are the two
guys that have the best images in all of sports.
When someone has that image, you make excuses for them,
You find a way to honor them. And this is
not just I like Patrick Mahomes. I don't like Jalen Hurts,
but just see things, see things from homes, and they'll
go to Hurts homes somewhat everybody loves. So when you

can say, hey, my homes for the m v P.
Look at his numbers and they were great. Uh boy,
he lost Tyreek Hill and still the Chiefs were at
the top of the mountain, I gotta go with Pat.
Look he lost Tyreek Kill and they remade the team. Okay,
I get that. But because you like Mahomes, you're glossy
over the fact that Travis Kelsey maybe the best tight
had the last twenty years in the NFL. He made

he's more uncomfortable than Gronk was in his a day
and he's thirty two. You have a phenomenal defensive line
that was able to control the game against against the
Bengals and win and control the game against the Jaguars
where you escape from a win there as well. So
it's not like the Chiefs have a roster of just
a bunch of guys. But because Mahomes is so Patrick Mahomes,
Patrick Mahomes, It's like, you know, we hasn't played with

a bunch of stiffs. There's no the like and a
coach just throws the ball out there and says, go
do your thing. Patrick. No, the Chiefs are loaded. They
have been loaded for a while. They figured out what
to do with our roster. How do we remake it? Well,
we go get a bunch of wide receivers on one
year deals. We take chances on talented guys and see
how it works out. It's worked out with Juju Smith,
Schuster and Candarius Tony when he's healthy. Now these guys,

long term guys, really continue to do this year to year.
They probably have to do it year to year because
you're paying Mahomes now. So now you talk about that
image of Mahomes versus Jalen Hurts, who every day you
see somebody in the media or a player not being
thrilled with the Eagles. I'm not thrilled. I don't think
the Eagles are that good. I don't think Jalen Hurts
is that good. I'll take it a Robbie Gold tonight,

forte Is Kicker said, Hey, when you got Jalen Hurts
out there, you're thinking your defense are gonna have a
pretty good day. In what world have you want? Seriously,
this is a guy that put up thirty seven touchdowns
this year. Ran shut Up has his team at the
top of the NFC, is in the Super Bowl, and
you're dismissing a guy with that kind of year like, oh,

you're gonna have a good day. There is a bias
against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles because Nick Sirianni is
not likable. Jalen Hurts Is is he really very good?
We've had a couple of years of the Eagles not
believing in Jalen Hurts and we know this, so this
seeps into your subconscien as well. Eagles don't believe in
Jalen Hurts. Is Jalen Hurts really that good? You watch
them do it every single week, every single week this year,

and still it was Yeah, I don't know. You had
guys like the Shawn McCoy in the middle, former Eagle,
I don't know if I like the Eagles. You see
such a bias against the Eagles and a love for
the Chiefs. That's gonna seep into your voting. That's always
gonna seep into your voting. Hence Patrick Mahomes forty eight.
Jalen Hurts one for me. Jalen Hurts this year did
something no other quarterback in the NFL did. Right, other

guys put points on the board. Other guys through for
the touched on Mahomes did. Jitalen Hurts did it differently.
He raised the level of his team from hey, we
squeaked in the playoffs last year to now we're the
most dominant team in the NFC. Yeah, that's the m
v P. To me, Yeah, to to me, as you
go through and in the in the end and shuffle
up a deal to pick the one you like and
move on, because I don't care who wins the Super Bowl,

who wins Sunday. That's all that matters. Doing these two guys, right,
which guy makes one more play or his team makes
one more play? Because let's face it, that's also the
arbitrary thing. As much as I I backed Tom Brady's
entire career, the run of Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, go
to Troy Aikman, go on down the line, all the

great quarters and when they got around him, a lot
of solid, steady organizations. You can say, at least with Brady,
yeah you got the great coach. But from a personnel standpoint,
you can pick and choose which guys were great, right
and solid units whatever. But the thing with Philadelphia is,
as you started to go down the Chiefs roster, we
look at the Eagles in every component, in every facet

of the game. You're checking the box all year long.
And then Hurts obviously had a huge year. Take nothing
from him. But if you're you're filling out your MVP votes,
there's there's a couple of things that play, and maybe
it goes into the subconscious uh subconsciousness of it all
is that with Tom Brady retiring face of the league,

who's next, who's great? Whatever? Vanquished Joe Burrow And obviously
that happens in the playoffs, so it doesn't matter. Votes
are already in, But if you're putting that packing order together,
it's looking at these these squads and where you're headed.
With Patrick Mahomes, he's a guy that's likable save people

with his brother and with his wife, right, and then
as long as they stay out of it, I like him.
You guys got to be able to stop getting to vote.
I don't want to read the New York Post online
and see what you guys are saying about slash at Man.
Doesn't make me look good. People hate you. They hate
me because they hate you. I want people to like
me and not hate you. So you guys gotta stay

away from all that. That's really well done. Uh, don't
do a sip of your trees of green red roses
do that? Says well done? But but the point being
that it's the who's next and Patrick mahomes the guy
I top that list. There's also, as as we allude
to the squad, there's the Andy Reid factor. Who doesn't

love Andy Reid? Right, no montage is complete without thirteen
year old kickpats punt competition Andrew read well, now it's
gonna be no, no, No montage is complete with that
end him drawing on people's face airplane right between that.
Because I think I think one of the things for
Jalen Hurts and and and the Eagles having this run

and and this date being set Chiefs Eagles, is that
maybe there's a greater appreciation for the coach Andy Reid

have a larger impact. Instead, mahomes numbers were greater. They
had eight eight guys with at least two undered fifty
receiving yards, spread the ball around. No running back that
you could trust, remember Clyde Edwards Hilaire. Yeah, that's what
I thought. So look at the guys that that came in.
They were afterthoughts on other teams. Isaiah Pacheco, late round pick.
Jerick McKinnon becomes a stud as a receiver out of

the backfield. All these things come in the show super
Genius whatever. But with Denver and Russell Wilson, people assumed
that was gonna work. Clearly, I except this guy. I
got that one right. I got the West right. Raiders
are gonna be okay. Chargers if they could stay healthy,
would be around and and potentially be a fly in
the ointment. But that the chiefs that I would trust,

(26:42):
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. And here we are ready
for the super Bowl. So the voters saw that they
were still the number one seed despite everybody loving the
age of burrow Head and everything else m v P.
And it goes to that whole thing with the Eagles
talking about complete rosters. That hurts is just a guy

(27:04):
that didn't as much as we appreciate the numbers, he
was a guy that didn't drive the bus into the
railing popularity contest. They like Patrick Mahomes more. Hey, and
now I said all that for Tom Brady is walking
away and now we need another guy. Oh, he's our lead.
Look like they like Joe cool too. I get it.

But Mahomes is the league and Mahomes is one, and
Mahomes and commercials and people like him. So yeah, popularity
makes the twins relate his dad. No, no, come on, man,
he doesn't Who did he play for? It? Didn't he be?
He played for the Met I think Pat Mahomes played
for a couple of years. But look, if you were
going to shoehorn, that got bring him up ready that
