I told you were going to Vegas. We're here. So far,
nobody's been arrested. The night is young, especially for you
are know. I did get padded down extra kind of
a next level things. Security got to take one of

(01:07):
my uh my debit card out of my pocket. That
kind of came all a board. People were laughing kind
of watching me get felt up by security. It was
really an interesting kind of dynamic. I told security, Hey, listen,
watch for the guy do the old Hey you a
t M cards something. Make sure he's all the good? Hey,
can you move your left leg a little further this way?
Movie level? Right leg? Like this getting weird. And there

(01:30):
were these two women just chuckling and enjoying every second
of it, like is this good? It's like you you
flying to Vegas with me or what like that? We're
going there? Like too bad because good main friends. But no,
it was good. Uh. And here we are. We made
it live. I am not incarcerated. You are doing everything
you can to perpetrate UH problems here. We've seen a

(01:51):
lot of Chiefs fans, a lot of Eagles fans, and
you're walking around in your jets. Come on, buddy, come
on trying to speak nonsense and of existence. Here we
are from the Blue Wire Studios at the wind Resort.
Uh and awesome set up, awesome time to be here.
But yes I am here, and I told you we
are here to convince the Raiders they do not need

(02:12):
Aaron Rodgers. They do not need him. They need somebody else.
I want Aaron Rodgers. Did you see NFL honors Sauce Gardener,
Garrett Wilson Rookies of the Year, Priest Hall Hall would
have won if he was healthy. Aaron Rodgers, don't go
into the darkness. I want to. I want to make
sure you see that they had the offensive a defensive
Rookie of the Year, and they would have had another

(02:33):
one if he was healthy. Did you see that? Forget
about Vegas, forget about a year, forget about all of this.
He has all your Raider fans walking by right now. No, no, no,
Aaron Rodgers is our guys. Stay away from it, buddy.
I I I have to go the other way. I'm
all about promoting where we're at. We're at the Blue
Wire studios, at the wind Resort. I want them to
have great prosperity, and that means you bring in a

(02:55):
quarterback that can actually move the needle. Derek Carr had
the great Vegas connection to the International Hotel and everything
you saw in Bob's Lureman's Elvis epic right, all those
things where he was giving you his best he could
an Elvis impersonation. He's gone, He's gone. Now it's time
for the dirty pirate looking Aaron Rodgers to come in

(03:17):
and lead that pirate ship forward, leaving your jets in
the wind crying. Look look, look, just again, I want
to say offensive and defensive Rookies of the Year. And
we would have had we would have added if one
guy was getting into the other guy that doesn't matter,
would have had first and second. And now he's got

(03:38):
to come back from injuring two guys that could have won.
Did you see videos he's posting is fine, Yeah, he's
chirpy and everything is good. Saw. It was one of
my favorite players, by the way I normally, you know,
I like my wall of meme fit by bit. I've
been collecting autograph trading cards or jersey cards and eventually
jerseys of my favorite defensive lineman. That's where I live.

(03:58):
I mean, I'm built like a fire plug, so it
works like that. But Bruce Hall was a guy that
I enjoy because he's small, fast, and chirpy. Sure, the
chirpiness is what gets him over the top, because he's
just saying, look, I'm good, Yeah, I'm good. I may
be damn great. And you won that award because I
got hurt. I love that which means he's gonna suplex
Is asked the first opportunity he gets in many cases,

(04:19):
why Aaron Rodgers is going to go to that and
needs to go to the jets that But he's in darkness. Look, no, no,
not yet, he's no, no, no, no no, he's gonna watch
the game. Now what do you think he's gonna eat
before he goes into darkness? Uh? How bad is that diet?
I'm trying to think of dark I'm thinking of black
food like seaweed or octopus or what else? The black? Yeah, pasta, Yeah,

(04:48):
it's like down because I gotta be honest right now,
you were trying to sell me out of pasta place
for dinner. See if they have the they do have?
They have that I can get on Boarday, yeah, you
know real quick. My dad once told me a story
that day with me forever never wanted octopus because he
told me once because this is my dad right this,
this is my dad in the nutshell high wall. It's
like five or six years old. Like I saw octopus

(05:08):
on the menu somewhere we were, and I said, my
dad's never want to have octopus, And I said, why
what have octopuses? Because what happened if they don't cook
it all the way you eat it, and then you
know octopus, you know they grow arms back and stuff.
And if if they get said yeah, he goes. What
happens is the octopus reforms in your stomach and it
comes out of the front and front of you and
blows out of your stomach. I'm like, I don't ever

(05:29):
want to have octopus. You know what, There's far more
effective things to do, food, beverage, other consumables that you
would encounter in your every day. Not often someone's showing up,
Like you go to McDonald's and fast food restaurants a lot,
not a lot of OCTOPI showing up as potential menu.

(05:50):
Like I would try to scare you with the more
likely scenario. You know, drugs are bad, you know things
of that. You know you want another one for my
dad another my dad in a nutshell. He said to me,
you always have to tell me your mother if you
get a cut that gets infected. And I said why,
you know obviously he wanted, you know, if you get
a cut, sorry, so it doesn't get infected. You want
to touch so it doesn't get infected. And I said
why obviously they want to make sure that nothing happens.

(06:12):
To tell me, when you get a cut, I saw
why he goes well, because here's what happens. If your
cut gets infected. We have to die all of your
clothes purple, and eventually we're gonna run out of close
and by we can't afford close every single day. We
can't keep buying purple clothes, so eventually you have to
go to school naked. Right that you meet me, I've
got a wardrobe purple. I'm wearing a lilac plumb kind

(06:32):
of shirt. When that's when I'm four years old. And
this is my grandmother's favorite story ever, because I was
over my grandparents house one day. I've probably four and
a half five years old, and I had a cut,
and my grandmother's looking at says, oh, you gotta cut.
It looks like it's infected. And I went, She's like,
what's happening. What's happening. Dad told me that if I
had an infected cut at the time, my clothes purple

(06:54):
and I couldn't see, you might run out of clothes.
I have to go to school naked. And she gave
me a look that I still remember this day, like
partly I want to kill your dad, but oh my god,
this is hilarious. And she got on the phone and
call me. I'm told of that story. So that's my dad.
That's what it's like growing up with my dad. You
know what've been funny though, is if someone else in
the family would have U committed to the bit and
then the background been playing viola or something, Well, it's

(07:16):
infected on this. You like he's on the Titanic getting
ready to go down. But you said the thing there

more NFL honors as as it comes out. We have
the a People Offensive Player of the Year is Justin Jefferson.
Uh Gino. Smith is the comeback player. You know, how
did the comeback player? You suck and then suddenly you're
you're to come back. You were still on a roster back.

(08:01):
You didn't come back from an injury back, you didn't
come back for some family tragedy and illness whatever. Just
because you sucked and suddenly you played better. You're the
comeback player like that. That's ridiculous. Dude. You just gave
me the finger. I didn't you. Just You've gotta calm down, man,
You've got there's only one guy that you just gave
me the finger because you're so mad that Geno Smith

(08:23):
one Player of the year. It was hard for you
kept your Jets sweatshirt. He's not yours anymore. It's not
a get anymore. I'm I'm worried. All right, Let's have Frostberg,
let's have uh some kind of emergency medical standing by
if that's gonna be harmon. Uh, But look we have
have we have the m v P coming up as well.

(08:44):
But look, I can see the future. And that's why
I'm glad we're here because I could see the future.
Because I can see and I don't like it. Because
I can see Aaron Rodgers. It's quickly whittled down to
two teams for him, right, it's Vegas or the Jets.
That's it. It's Vegas or the Jets, and it's gonna
be just like Kirk Cousins all bleeping over again, where
it's gonna be Jets, Vikings, Jets, Vikings, and Aaron rid

(09:06):
is gonna nod his head into Packers, going yes, Jets, Vikings, Jets, Vikings,
and the and the and the Packers are gonna sit
back and they're gonna get the bid from the Jets
that Woody Johnson's gonna call, and Joe Douglas is gonna
he's gonna say, all right, here, here's our two first
round picks. Uh and and and we'll pay Aaron Rodgers.
Sound we're gonna do this this And the Packers gonna
go uh huh huh okay, hey, Mark Davis, Yeah, look,
this is what we got from the Jets. It's two

(09:28):
first round picks and they're paying X amount of his salary.
We figure it out. How about you give us a
little bit more than that and you pay a little
bit more of a salary and you guys can get
Aaron Rodgers and Mark Davis is gonna say yes, and
Vegas is gonna panic, and they're gonna go crazy because
they're complete total wild guards, and they're gonna wind up
getting Aaron Rodgers. That's exactly how this is gonna go,
and we're gonna be left with Jimmy Bleep and Garoppolo.

(09:49):
Don't how I didn't give you the finger when I
said that, I said a nice thing. You kind of
did as calm as I could, knowing full well that
that's how it's gonna be. I mean, my hands are
are arthritic, so part of that was that was a finger.
You know, you're just trying to interpret things like that.
I mean, Frostberg, you've been looking for anger and vitriol

(10:10):
all day long. You were trying to have me putting
the slammer so that you could host solo. You had
the spray paint out like you were the n w O.
We're in a studio here at the Blue Wire Studios
at the wind where you were going to take the
giant graphic and spray paint online across my name to
excise me from the show. That's what you were doing.
But for Aaron Rodgers tell you this ahead, because you

(10:33):
know what would have happened if I did do that.
No one would have given me the finger. In the
first five minutes of the show. I think Frostberg, No,
Frostberg had to be happy here talking about it would
have been your brands and would have just been all Jets, Jets, Jets,
all that. I like how you gave me the finger
because of Geno Smith, not because I did know ar.
You gave me Gino Si Comeback Player of the end
boom finger, Like, how are you so mad about not

(10:55):
looking theater of the mind. The only just more mad
is if Geno if wins Comeback Player the Year and
they stopped the lake if they did uh to celebrate
Lebron set passing the scoring record and sell them are
they're gonna stop the game tonight when he doesn't play
for ten minutes. By the way, the leading scorer in
NBA history is here, Lebron James. Let's do that while

(11:18):
we're at it. But the point is is Davante Adams
gonna be there like Oprah Winfrey. He's got a giant
bow on a house in a car and that's the
extra incentive. Look, you can move into my neighborhood. See
nobody on the Jets can do that. Why do you
want Davonte Adams when you could have Garrett Wilson and
Brie saw. You don't know if Josh Jacobs is gonna
stay because well, Josh Jacobs has said he's got a tattoo,

(11:38):
he wants it. But then he said, like you I
can't ain't coming back for cheap you have up a
book now exactly. He was talking to them like he
was Mr. Paint. The Raiders have problems, man. Aaron Rodgers
doesn't want that smoke. You want Jets smoke. Jets want
We are with a straight face, gonna talk, try to
talk about are you Jets smoke? If you were to

(12:02):
rake the functional franchisees in the National Football League, do
the Jets or Raiders get into the top twenty five?
Doesn't matter. No, but it doesn't matter because it's one
and thirty two. He's outside of the Colts in the
Houston texts and the Lions actually had a better use
so there, but the Lions are actually trending in the
right direction. No, no, no, yeah, yeah yeah no. But

(12:23):
but the whole thing, it doesn't matter because it's down
to the Jets of the Raiders. For Aaron Rodgers, there's
a whole bunch of there might be a mystery to
the White sox aster h No, but that's that's stuff
that that's what it's down to. You may not like it,
but that's what it's down to. And that's how what's
gonna go. And he's gonna come out of the darkness,
and there's gonna be reporters. They're just like punk Stanni

(12:43):
Phil and waiting to see what happens. And Phil's gonna say,
Nancy Taylor, I sat behind you in twelve grade English,
and Aaron Rodgers gonna go, yes, I've decided after the
Darkness where I somehow got text for the packers and
we worked out in my contract situation. I'm emerging from
the dark us for the Darkness and I'm going to
the Raiders. That's just how it's gonna Brian Doyle Murray's

(13:04):
show up in a top hat and introduced the Darkness
to sing a song to Aaron Rodgers. That is the
question Twitter and out about a fresca might get swollen
down The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen,
Live from the Blue Iire Studios, Win Resort Hotel and Casino.
I say, so, I'm glad we're here. We've already started
changing minds. Like I can tell we've already started changing minds.

(13:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Well, comeing to Vegas. On the plane today,
I had a good feeling about our experience here. What
was gonna happen? Because I get on the plane and
the flight attendants I'm where in my Mets hat and
he goes, oh, Matts And this is guy's probably about,

(13:47):
you know, twenty five years old. He's hanging out the
middle of the plane and uh, I saw Mats Like y,
I like what you guys did this offseason? I said
me too. We bought everything and he goes, yeah, yeah,
it's in fact, we're gonna we're gonna buy your airline
and got last she's hopping up everything you guys did,
and oh my god, your closer is so good. They
play that song, Oh you kid man when they play Narco,
everybody starts going nuts, going yeah. He goes and he

(14:08):
signed Verlander. Yes we're talking, and then just out of
the blue, two girls Mini skirts Southern Axrican walking by
excuse me, can I put my my my bag on
the top here of that and then done. That was
he was done talking to me. It was over. It
was I was like, yeah, okay, the Mets. Can it
comes to girls? Can I get my can I put

(14:30):
my thing up? I want to go? What happened? Edwin
Diaz a narco dad? What happened to that? You know?
And talk to me about that anymore? Now? As soon
as they showed up, boo oh yeah right, let me
get your Let me get your your bag. Put him
up here. Here Here you go right in here there you sorry,
right in the top. I'll pick it up here. Look
at my muscles, it right right right there. We're great.
We're talking about the Mets. Gred. I'm like, oh yeah, guys,
talking to me about the Mets is pretty cool. Can

(14:51):
I can you help? You would have stood there saying
let me see you, let's see your lat strength, go ahead,
and I would have said, hey, listen, lady, help you
in admitted I'm talking about out the Mets. Okay you
started on your phone. Fan. I ran into our our
buddy producer from over at a M five seventy and
then realized that my flight had changed to another gate.
Oh so luckily, luckily you got there or unluckily. But

(15:13):
we were having a nice conversation and that was and
I looked at like, why does it still say Oakland
on this board? That Plade's wrong gone. Now I want
to say this, I don't want to say this. I've
not been arresting you, right, but you're on the path
to it because you flipped me off in the first
segment of the show. Because getting arrested people that are
standing up and you know what they said for you
can't do it for you, Spider, don't take any of

(15:35):
his nonsense. No, I think that's a felody in Las Vegas.
I think they take you up to the desert. You're
hanging out with Ken Jong and then you don't get
back out again. And that second season of True Detective
tell you a little better in my underwear than Honey.
You stopped laughing a while ago. Honey, you stopped walking
a long time ago. Uh So, today was trade deadline
day in the NBA, and we saw a lot of

(15:58):
second round picks get traded back and a lot of
five How about five you need five, we need seven.
We need to set a record. Give you every second
round pick we have until they changed the draft down
to one round. Uh, and we saw a lot of
minor moves. We'll get to the Kevin Durant story in
a minute, because you know, I think I can be
an NBA insider. But the Lakers are the biggest movers

(16:21):
and shakers because they remake their whole roster. Right. They
trade away Patrick Beverley, they trade away Thomas Bryant, they
get Mo Bamba. Uh. They've made other moves, and it's
it's a lot of minor stuff. A lot of stuff
was minor, which is what teams are doing around trying
to figure out way. It's look like the Nuggets get
Thomas Howard to to try to talk about peace and

(16:42):
they didn't make any moves. Yeah, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude,
you had but dude, all your stars tonight and you
couldn't beat the nets. They played with three guys. You
know what they did. They flipped everybody off. They clicked
the organization off, day flipped the coach off. They said,
to see you in hell, I'm not playing that. Ben
Simmons sucks. Then Simmons didn't take a shot, and still
he never takes a shot. And that's nothing new. You

(17:03):
still lost to the Nets. He's the second best LSU
player they've got on the roster. He just quit on
the season. That's I saw people in Chicago reporting that
if they gave up all the assets they had to
bring back Derrick Rose, that more than half the fan
base would be happier. That was the running joke in
Chicago for Derrick Rose. Send Zach Levin, but like that

(17:26):
was the joke, like that, fans are so hateful of
the organization at this point, they jeer the return of
Derrick Rose. In that scenario, I mean you you you
didn't just lose like on a last buzzer beater, Dude,
you got smoked by the Nets again. They played three
guys and you lost to the next. But but you
mentioned all the Lakers moves. And this is what I
love is they they had four new guys and they're

(17:48):
starting lineup tonight and you still they didn't need to
know each other's names. You're wearing the right colors. Hey, hey,
name on the front Spencer, Hi, Spencer, rom Cam and
I speach. I was with the Son right, I was
traded here too. Great, Okay, great, I'll pass through you pass,
and I remember you from the thing with the guy
in the place. Look funny that you bring up the Lakers.
We got our guy Frostburg here and and and little

(18:10):
incremental moves and they don't have to be world beating.
But I love the fact that Briant gets traded because
he's famously the guy calling for the ball on Lebron's
record breaking shot, and they said, see it, we can't
have that kind of selfishness here. We're going for history.
That might be my favorite. Right, if Lebron James ever
does an autograph signing where you can send things in,

(18:31):
I might want a six team by twenty of that.
I want Phil Knight to sign it. I want Lebron
to sign it. All the guys that didn't bother to
play defense on the play, and I want Bryant clapping
for the ball. That's what I want. That was one
of my favorite images in sports history. But look, here's
the thing about the Lakers, right, and this is why
I love what they did. What do we say last

(18:52):
night with a trade for Russell Westbrook? Right? Is that
gonna work? They've got Look, they've remade half the roster.
Is the Russell Westbrook trade gonna work. Is D'angela Russell
to wind up being it? I don't know because you're
talking about these wholesale changes, but I know what wasn't
working something even if it's wrong, And the Lakers doing
all of this because they know the robster we have

(19:12):
isn't working. So let's throw in some lightning. Let's throw
in some new energy and see how it works out.
Like the Cavaliers did this like twice with Lebron at
the trade deadline when they traded away half their team. Look,
it's not working. We're not where you are in the
middle of the pack. And then but it's not like
you and you you watched him evaporate, but it's not

(19:33):
like you can't do that. You can do. So now
the Lakers can be successful because now they've because I
but it doesn't matter because I know what they had
been doing wasn't working, So why not do this if
it's bad and doesn't work. Guess what it wasn't working
the other way. So it's not like you were twenty
games into the season, right If you're fifteen to twenty
games and you're like, all right, at some point health
everything's gonna coalesce. Russ what or whatever you maybe maybe

(19:56):
you still hold out hope, which, as we know, is
either a great word or a dangerous word, depending on
which way we want to go. But you're you're deep
enough into the season, you're past the fifty mark in
terms of games played, the same working. The morale is
nothing at zero and whatever we had Dan Woiking on
we were talking about Anthony Davis and his response to

(20:18):
Lebron and the record whatever else. There's obviously fractures beyond
what's going on with that game right in terms of
how this team has been running. So what do you do?
You get a hard reset and maybe this propels you forward.
Maybe it means nothing. Maybe they're they're just just terrible.
But I gotta think if you're D'Angelo Russell, who at

(20:38):
this point we're playing Connect the Dots through NBA history,
maybe he might end up playing with more teams by
time he's thirty. Is that a record yet? Can I
get stats to run that record for me? Do that?
He could be the new Chris Catling. I think that
play with like the teams in twelve years he got
Catling into this show. So you win right there. At

(20:59):
band and a guy who looked like he was. He's
like Grandville Waiters looked like he was fifty five when
he was twenty seven. T J. Jason Smith with his
gatlin gunning for the big phrase of the night on
the show. Nicely done, but yeah, it's still do something
even if it's wrong. Right, you're trying to appease your
fan base. And for Lebron James, clearly he's behind the

(21:20):
scenes going to say working, to say working, we got
twenty seven games, what are we doing here? Twitter and
out about a Fresca Mike hats swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. So yeah,
so it works. And of course Lebron not playing tonight
for the Lakers naturally televised game on T and T. Yeah, no, no,
it's like a r from the other night when a

(21:42):
craptastic effort, that is, if you lose the winnable game, Yeah,
and then you don't bother to play in this and
we don't have anybody tonight. It doesn't it doesn't matter
gonna win tonight. You're not gonna win that. Look, it's
fifteen fifteen right now, but you have nobody tonight. You
all but eight players, You're not gonna win, so yeah, listen,
and you know Lebron said, hey, man, we're not winning

(22:03):
this game tonight. Man, so we're gonna sit out. I'm
sitting out. You don't need me, then I'll be ready
to go. Hey, give me this, be ready for Saturday,
his mental health day. But he's skipping a naturally televised
game tonight, quitter, So it doesn't matter. He's skipping skipping
a game tonight. This is why I was mad when
they stopped the game for ten minutes the other night.
He's half pass effort of just randomly taking nights off.

(22:24):
You don't like that. You don't like Geno Smith when
he come back? I don't hear. Why who do you
want to when come back? Players? Mean a guy that
went through some adversity. You sucked. He he was drafted
by the Jets, that had to play there for years.
He got paid, but it took him a long time
to get past that adversity. I mean, how many years
did he splitting He's in his second decade. That's a

(22:45):
comebootball league. That's you're coming back from nothing. You're coming
back from playing from the job. But it's not like
he's just playing for the rough Riders or something. It's
playing for the Jets. That's tough thing, dude. That I mean,
it's been gone from the Jets for a long but
it doesn't matter. What are you gonna start sinking? The
memory remains by Metallica. It takes people so long to
come back from playing for the Jet. Sometimes it takes

(23:06):
them a year, two years. Sometimes you never recovered. Guy's
going to the retirement. Look what happened? Man? What happened
to me? Where'd I go? Look? That's how that's how
it works. Do you think that's the case? All the
free gear you get, all the sweatsuits or whatever else.
At some point you look in your garage you're like,
I can never escape this. So then you have a
giant bond fire or something that you have to have

(23:28):
one big purge once and for all. Oh man, I'll
tell you it takes a lot. I'm I'm I'm upset
that you're upset about Geno Smith really and I'm setting
you flipped me off. But okay, you're not upset about
that at all. That's a nightly occur because if you
get arrested because you're on you know what, you know what,
flipping me off in the in the beginning of the show.
That's a gateway. That's a gateway. Maybe I needed I

(23:50):
needed to let some steam off. Maybe that's what we're
in Vegas. We had lunch today. It was great. We
walked around. You got all these betting sheets. You're gonna
spend your dog? Did you see that? What did I
bring you? As? They are really cool? You get I
got an old school win like remember the old part,
the old parley cards, you bet you know, three out

(24:12):
of three for five dollars, four for four for ten dollars.
Now they got old school one like this, But you
could do that. I'm looking back filling out with your
pen in the all that yard six for one, six
for one on on a three team barley back in college,
giving parley sheets out to the people in the door
may play statue Olympic and limitations has long gone on
that it's even got the same thing to fill out.

(24:34):
I'm filling out the man look as much as technolog
Look at you just ripped that. Look you're ready to submit?
Did that avoid right there? No, I ripped the bottom
of so great though, like to be able to go
in and I walked in and there's a steady stream
of people baking their bets. And I go down the
line and you've got all the sheets, and all right,

(24:55):
here's the sheet for the NHL, here's one for college buckets,
here's a short one for the NBA because there's a
few games tonight. And then I go to pull out
the NFL one and it is a book. It is
an absolute book. And we were going through it, like
there's almost a full page of Jalen Hurts props. Oh yeah, yeah, sure, right,
just Jalen Hurts. There's like three above all the Hurts,

(25:17):
and then there's like two or three at the back end.
It's it's amazing the number of things you can wager on. Uh,
I'll tell you what. The wind has been great. We're
having a great time and look forward to the rest
of our stay and broadcasting live and screaming at each
other here on Fox. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at

(25:39):

Hall of Fame has been selected, and there is not one,
not two, not three it's not nine players ping into
the Hall of Fame and two of them to two

I saw him on Funning stage just months ago. Ronde
Barber is in, Demark gets in, Don Corriel gets in,
and Chuck Howley only player from the losing team to
win m v P of the Super Bowl, he is
in the Hall of Fame. Those are your new Pro
Football Hall of Famers. This courtesy of Jason Cole pro

(26:45):
Football Hall of Fame voter, who joints on the show.
Uh every week. Here're gonna talk to us tomorrow night.
But vas the Jets now have two Hall of Famers
in one class. Think about that? I mean, how how
crazy is that? Two Hall of famers? Well, Patriots legend
Darrell Reevus, stop that stop Patriots Hall of Famer. Who stop,

(27:05):
look at that? Yeah you want to flip me off again? Now, yeah, Patriots,
look at that. You are insane and you have not
had any caffeine in this first hour. Not yet. Oh no,
you can't, dude, you can't. You're you're I bet your
heart's like a hummingbirds right now. It's like, babe, all right,
I can't straighten. That's that's the paky out. It's still busted.

(27:27):
We're working on the ligaments, but I'm ready. That is
a hell of a Hall of Fame class right there.
Vous island two of the hall getting stop stop stop stop,
not even stop stop stop stop stop stop. He is
a jawtucket pad is firing up. Famous as a jet,
a legend as a jet came back to jet draft

(27:50):
is fired where you took a lot of money from
the Jets and did nothing the second time around. He's
in the Hall of Fame means he retired a Patriots
and stole your money. He's in the home as a
player and as a businessman, so he goes it's a businessman.
He's on paralleled both of me because he took advantage
of the Jets. Synonymous with the Jets. He's in the

(28:11):
Hall of Fame as a jet owner of the Jett's Jets,
Jets Patriots Jets Hall of Famer. Look at that another one.
Just that, Just stop, just stop. I should give you
a double bird right now, because I should give you
a double one. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and

(28:32):
the I Heart Radio app. Yeah, I'm the only guy
walking around with the Mets hat at the at the
Lynn right here prized about that, I'm the only guy.
I'm the only guy. It is the off season. You
think you want to associate with winners, you know, win logos.
You want him and logos? Whatever you need? Do you want?
You want a funny story? I got another funny story
from my flight today. So I'm flying out to fight

(28:56):
to Vegas from l A. And my my plane was
going on to Oakland. So everybody's deplaning and they make
the announce and saying, okay, right, you know, flight were here,
Thank you. Everybody was a fight. We've landed. If you
are continuing on to Oakland, please stay in your seats.
So everybody's staying in the seastay in their seats, and
there was one guy in an a's hat, and uh,

(29:18):
who was there, just like, Oh, it's kind of funny.
And then uh, and then somebody somebody walked by. I
wish it was a raider, but somebody walked by and said, oh,
how funny, and and and the guy said what and
this guy's guy's gotta be like sixty. I think he was.
He sounded like he was a New Yorker because he
said he's going, Hey, oh, how funny. What's that? He goes?
You know, it was so funny because, uh, the Raiders

(29:40):
went from Oakland to Las Vegas, and now the A's
are gonna go from Oakland to Las Vegas. And he
left and he walked to I said, this guy's gonna
get upon that cut on in if you will. Let's
get it on ugilism. Joining us now on the hot Line,
Fox Sports one NBA insider extraordinary air host of the

(30:01):
On the Ball podcast. You can follow on Twitter at
Rick Buker, That is at Rick Buker. The latest topic
of his On the Ball podcast, how Josh Hart turns
the mix into the Eastern Conference favorites. Rick, welcome man'
I'm digging that podcast. I'm gonna download it. Thank you,
thank you appreciated, Bunny, it's pretty slow newsday at the last. Yeah, dude,

(30:27):
I'm I'm yeah, I'm kind of running on on on
fumes here, it would especially last night. Um, I mean,
can we can we have a moratorium on when these
deals get done? Doesn't really have to be in I'm
We're I'm West Coast, So it wasn't even that bad
for me. But the Kevin Durant thing certainly, uh, certainly

(30:49):
surprised all of us, and maybe maybe it shouldn't have. Obviously,
he had expressed an interest in going to the Phoenix
Suns um back last summer. I just did not believe.
I thought, well, I believed in the power of persuasion
by the Brooklyn Nets that convinced him to wait until
the summer to to make a move, and obviously they couldn't.

(31:11):
So here we are. But uh, and it helps that
you have a brand new owner in the Phoenix Suns
in matt Ish, Ba who like I just I love
brand new owners. Going back to Mark Cuban when he
first took over the Dallas Mavericks man, they cannot wait
to reinvent the wheel to show like all the things
that they're gonna do. It's just it's so good poker off.

(31:32):
I mean, go down the line all the Steve Balmer
like name a brand new owner who hasn't gone out
and tried to make some momentous splash. The instant that
he owns the team, it's uh, it's the best thing
going well. And then you add on top of that,
Kyrie Irving has his debut with the Mavericks. They win,

(31:54):
and he goes all heath Ledgard Joker blowing up a
hospital by going, yeah, I'm glad having to rank out
out good for him. Oh yeah, Like, I gotta tell
you the lack of awareness for these guys. Now, you've
had three Hall of Fame players who have asked to

(32:17):
be traded out of Brooklyn, So you do have to
start to look at it and go, Okay, what what's
going on there that the relationships are not strong enough
that all these guys are bailing on the franchise. You
have to ask that. But the lack of awareness that
you know what, you guys have a certain amount accountability

(32:38):
to for this thing not working you and k D
went there and said we're gonna win championships, and now
you both bailed before anything came close to happening. And it's,
you know what, I feel disrespected, like I had to
get out of there, Like they didn't do everything, they

(32:59):
didn't bend over backwards entire Yes, yes, exactly, it's it's
it's just mind numbing. And it's why like the Dallas
Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns and anybody who's attaching themselves
to either either k D or Kyrie and saying, hey,

(33:19):
we've we've just improved our chances to win a championship,
I'm like, did you not? Have you not paid attention
to how things have gone? Even when k D was
winning championships in Golden State, how that ended and where
those two have been the last couple the last few years,
and what what the has transpired? I just I don't

(33:39):
know how anybody looks at that. I look, I get
the talent. Talent will always win out, and everybody will
always believe they're going to be different under our watch,
and maybe maybe they will be maybe, But to go
into that with confidence and not know that you're rolling
the dice. I don't know how anybody does that based

(33:59):
on what we've seen the last few years. Now. I
always say the same thing Rick, when it comes to
getting k D or getting Kyrie. I have two words
of advice for these teams, the same two words. Good luck.
That's a good luck. You want good luck good luck
because you know what's gonna happen. You know it's gonna
go exactly. And and this is my concern because the

(34:20):
Phoenix suns uh. And I'm doing a piece that will
run tomorrow about you know who improved the most of
who who either change their metric as far as being
in the title chase conversation and did anybody leave frog
anybody else? Yeah? Is that a heartwarming? Isn't that a

(34:41):
heartwarming story? Josh jock Hart and Talen Front and getting telling.
Jaylon Brunson celebrated like they got jnest Oh well, because
I think that they're going to try to sneak in
and see if they can win another NT double A title.
I mean, I think and I think they I think

(35:03):
they have a good shot. The long run almost spake
right here. I took a simple chair in the whole night.
I mean, if this is our studio in l A.
I'd have done that in a second, but with this
a nice studio here in the blue wire, like you
were going to spray that window. But anyway, you were
talking about the piece you had coming up. I didn't

(35:25):
mean to interrupt, but I know that this are going
to be a big part of it, So go ahead,
right right, And it's about teams that have changed their fortunes,
have moved up into the title contending conversation or uh,
you know, leap broad somebody else, and the the Phoenix
Suns are the one team that everybody feels like they
put themselves in the conversation that they weren't there previously,

(35:47):
that even though they had basically the same crew that
went to the finals two years ago and and had
the best record in the league last year, that there
was just something about them this year they were not
They were not headed that way, and that getting Kevin
Durant changes that it does put them in the conversation.
There are a number of things that have to happen
in order for them to maintain that. My concern about

(36:10):
them now and going forward is that we've seen that
Katie doesn't want a leadership role. He just wants to
play Devin Booker. Uh. We saw how he performed and
how he reacted emotionally and how he just generally how
he played before Chris Paul came to town. All of

(36:32):
this hinges. I believe still with the Phoenix Suns, no
matter how much talent you give them, is can Chris
Paul still be an effective enough player to be your leader?
And if he can't, then I don't know that any
of the other stuff matters that other Otherwise, all you've
done is you've recreated what the Brooklyn Nets went through

(36:53):
the last few years, and instead of it being Kyrie
and Katie, it's Devin Booker and Katie. And that didn't
get you where you wanted to go. And so that's
why I fully understand why everybody's excited about the Phoenix Suns.
I'm I'm excited. You've got Katie and Kyrie on opposite

(37:14):
sides of the Maverick Sun's rivalry, which was already spicy,
like give me, give me more of that. And you've
got k D and Kyrie in the Western Conference with Lebron,
Steph and John and Kauai. I mean, I love all
of that for entertainment. Purposes. But if you're asking me,

(37:35):
do I believe as I'm hearing from a lot of
people that the Phoenix Suns should be the uh you know,
far and away favorite to come out of the West
as a result of getting Katie, I'm not ready to
go there. Did they enter the conversation, Yes, but I
believe that it's still wide open in the Western Conference.
Fox Sports Radio Jason Switch Show with Me Mike Carmen

(37:57):
live from the Mobile Tire Rack Studios. Of course, we
also are at the Blue Wire Studios presented by the
Win here in Las Vegas Super Bowl week. UH pleased
to be joined to break down what has been the
top story across the sporting landscape, the NBA trade deadline
by our guy FS one analyst on The Ball podcast

(38:19):
with Rick Buker. Yes, you find him on Twitter at
Rick Bucker. Rick. So we had to go to the
Lakers number one to gout Lebron with the record, all
the craziness. UH Bryant called for the ball and he
got unceremoniously dumped out of town. A lot of shuffling
of the roster, Kareem and the odd lookings on him
throughout the process, and then Lebron takes Thursday night off

(38:41):
against Milwaukee craziness. But all the moves that get added up,
what did they amount to for the Lakers other than
a new guys and more uniforms. Well for the people
behind the scenes, right, they gotta put a bunch of
nameplates on stopped, So good for them they get they Well,

(39:03):
Lebron has a reason to continue to play. I assume,
I mean he he decided that after he broke the title,
broke the record, that I'm going to take the rest
of the kind of take the rest of the night off,
and I kind of that that to me is an
incredibly bad look. Well either, Hey, Anthony Davis was so

(39:24):
tired he couldn't even stand up for him when he
when he won, when when he broke the record. There's
a lot of tired people going on with the Lakers, Okay, Honestly, Like,
as much as I want to celebrate, and and this
is the difficulty I have, breaking that record should be
a celebration. It should be something that we all go, dang,

(39:44):
that was that was impressive. And in much the same
way step Steph setting the three point record, like stop, hallelujah,
let's recognize all of that, but as I'm watching, I'm
getting none of that. Uh never mind, as they lost
to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but they gave up a

(40:10):
hundred three points. Yeah yeah, but but only lost by three,
and Lebron couldn't play the last four but four and
a half minutes, five minutes in a game that they
needed to win. Like this was and and and was
a gettable game. I can get the record, but yeah,

(40:30):
you guys are gonna try to You don't have to
try to find a way to win it without me,
because I like, I'm not I'm not that healthy. I'm
healthy enough to become the all time scorer, but to
help you win a game, and so I and then
I mean, it's just it's just a bad optic and
it's a bad message. And I believe it's partly why

(40:54):
you saw Anthony davis attitude or behavior, because this is
not about winning a game. This was not about the
the Lakers still trying to make the postseason. This was
purely about Lebron breaking the record, and Lebron bought into

(41:17):
it's just about me breaking the record. That's that's not
a good message to send the rest of your team.
So in some ways. They probably needed to move a
lot of those guys out because it was like you
guys who weren't here for that, Okay, I mean you
don't have the Will Smith's flashy you know, the neuralizer.

(41:38):
You know, the neuralizers to clear everybody's memory. So we
just need to move them out, and we need to
burn the tape so that nobody is aware of of
what transpired. Um I look, I think that they have enough.
I did not think that they could even make the
play in game with what they had. I believe that

(41:59):
they had of what what they need to make the
play in to make the playoffs, maybe even you know,
a first round upset, depending on who they get they
get matched up with. But all of that is dependent
on Anthony Davis and Lebron James. Like neither one of

(42:21):
those guys can miss a couple of weeks. They have
to be available from here until the end of the season.
There there is no even with all the changes, there
is no margin for error. Do I think they can
get there with this crew as opposed to the one
that they had, Yes, I do, But they're gonna need
all hands on deck. It's not it's not going to
happen easily. And I still think they probably wind up

(42:43):
if they end up in the playoffs having to do
it through the plan. All right. Lastly, Rick, you talked
to you told us about the column you're working on.
Give us one team that you really love what they
did the last twenty four thirty six hours that have
either changed the metric or or or changed the direction
of their's. Love is an awfully strong word. It can

(43:06):
be the Nicks, can't. I can't they Well, you know
what I will see. You know what I love. I
love that the Knick sent Cam Reddish to the Portland
Trailblazers to have Chauncey Billups as his head coach. Oh,
it gets back to good job. Now Cam can score
fifty points once a week and get thirty five minutes,

(43:28):
And it's what the hell happened? Why is he not
getting Why did he get there? That's coming, that's Tibodeaux
had the stick figure. He goes, I had to get
rid of that guy. That's coming, And that's why. And
that's why, Jason, that's why I love it. He's on
Twitter at Rick Buker, that is at Rick Buker. Check
out his latest again coming up uh teams that change

(43:50):
the metric. It's on Fox sports dot com. It will
be on Fox sports dot com. Also check out the
On the Ball podcast as well. Rick has always but
he appreciated my friend. We'll talk to you next week.
Reddish Reddit Show, Thanks buddy, Reddish Reddish. I like that
he got Cam reddish it in there. It's like we're
sweeping up here. We're swep up here is like like

(44:11):
for the Reddish, Cam Reddish now boy not having to
worry about playing so much pesky defense. He's now he's
taking thirty five shots a game. Look at Cam who
hates people more? Tom Thibodeau and Cam Reddish or the
NFL world and Jalen Hurts hate seven seven. There's one

(44:32):
guy that hated Cam Reddish. The entire world hates Jalen
Hurts
