but hey, let's bring in those two lunatics from Fox

(01:07):
and he would show from here what better way to
get things started? You want to get a party together.
I'm here for your ready. Four drinks in and we
are one hour into the show. Are yet prosper At
least he's only given me the middle finger once in
the first hour of the show. That you remember, I've
been making friends and people have been walking by and

(01:29):
pointing and laughing at your Jets sweatshirt. I'm waving to
them and they're pointing and having a good time, Like
you want to talk about experiencing Las Vegas on the
grand scale, right, drinks and nightlife and people go into
restaurants or whatever. And then being able to point at
the guy in the glass booth wearing a Jet Sturt

(01:49):
sweatshirt like that is like a bonus. You didn't think
you were gonna get that extra laugh. Listen. I'm here
to convince the Raiders don't go get Aaron Rodgers. And
if you want to get Aaron Rodgers, we're gonna have
a problem. And I'm a problem with anybody here. After
you're just trying to fight people. You're you're worried about
me getting arrested. Now you're threatened to beat people up
on Aaron Rodger to come to the Raider. I want
Darth Raider to come down here. That's why you'd sit

(02:11):
here and say, listen, dude, you don't you don't want
Aaron Rodger. You stay away from my guy man. You
stay away with the spike shoulder pants. He can get
through this glass glasses sticking of starts budding it like
it's the magi be like that scene. I was look
at the scene from the end of I Am Legend
when he just keeps trying to get through the wall
and Will Smith or what was it the Kingsman, right

(02:34):
and the first one when they flood the room right
right he gets to the you know it now it's like, oh,
well you got out, gratulatee accept you failed. Uh. And
there's that guy and that's you right now because you're
you're feeling the momentum of Rogers to Vegas and now
you're starting to get desperate. Uh. Yeah, I'm a Jets fan,
of course I'm desperate because we're gonna wind up with

(02:54):
Jimmy Bleep and Garoppolo. That's what's gonna He's gonna be
great for eight games and then and then Zach Wilson
is gonna save the day. Can you gonna say flash,
he's gonna come in throw two touchdowns in the first
quarter opening day, and it's gonna be Oh my god,
this is great that he's gonna get hurt and he's
gonna be out for the year and Zach Wilson's gonna
have to play. Do we get to play the raid

(03:14):
Lely Jimmy, that's gonna We're gonna go, uh turn the
TV upmy take off my gear. I've done you know,
can't do it the opening week at the NFL season.
We're gonna do our best to learn the guitar part.
I can't. Uh the sounds of silence. I can't do it.
I can't. I'm sorry. I can't do this again with
the Zach Wilson could you were bent on keeping him?

(03:36):
I can't do it. Let's get Smith the new team
mate seven seven on Fox at how about a fresca
at s Won and Dome. Find the picture of him
photo shopping me into your favorite team and tell me
why it works. We could talk about how complicated other
banks make it to redeem credit card rewards, or we
could talk about how we discover you can redeem your
rewards for cash and any amount of any time. I mean,
talk about amazing. It's not just the Mets, learn more,

(03:58):
discover dot com, slash redeem awards terms they do apply. Well,
let's continue this conversation. We had a few minutes again
because Uh, the NFL Honors program is now over. We
saw all of the awards given out tonight. Uh, the
Jets have both offensive and defensive Rookie of the Year
with Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner. Breestall probably would have
won if he was healthy. Brian Dabile as Coach of

(04:19):
the Year. The Hall of Fame class was announced. Two
Jets are going in. Durrelle Rievas is going in, Joe
Cleco is going in. Also, Uh, Joe Thomas is going in.
Uh class Air Correel Don Corriel is going in. I mean,
you're talking about a guy that that revamped the game
in the eighties where everybody ran the football thirty five
times a game. No, we're gonna throw it thirty five.

(04:39):
I can't wait to talk to Jason Cole about this,
right our steam gas buddy. Uh, we've got folks on
Twitter saying he's lost at least one of the sandwiches
that was owned to him by the fact that you
got more cowboys getting in, uh and nobody being removed
as far as we know. But we've we've got to
talk to him about Coreel finally getting in. It's like
the baseball off. I know you got veteran committees, you've

(05:02):
got all those things. How does he suddenly get in.
I'm not trying to keep the guy out. I mean,
that's not what I'm about. It's just more the what
did he do to suddenly make you change your mind? Well,
that's anything that's it's the same thing. So Scott Rowland
gets it. No, now he's all a famer. Hey, come
at a lot of gold gloves. Hey, he was such
a good guy in the locker room. He bought sandwiches

(05:24):
the time. I mean, that's what happened that they look
for reasons for guys. You know, he was a guy
that he bought lunch all the time for everybody. Made
means I'm going to the Hall of Fame, but I
bought a dinner or five out along the way. But look,
Jalen Hurts finish his second MVP voting the Patrick Mahomes
uh near unanimous for Mahomes. Mahomes gets all but one vote,

(05:44):
and I'm sorry and This is not me being bitter
because I told you Jalen Hurts is gonna win m
v P the priest. I feel pretty like that what
I would have done is at the last couple of weeks,
the end of season. But what this overwhelming for Patrick
Mahomes is ridiculous. And this is why I say images

(06:06):
everything right, the old andre Agassi and everything, because you
look at Patrick Mahomes, who everybody has nothing but glowing
things to always say about Mahomes, right, and now Brady's retiring,
who's the league? The league is Mahomes? Okay, I get
that Mahomes is unbelievable and year in year out, he's
the best quarterback in the league. He's fantastic. But you
know what he kind of had the same year Jalen Hurtshon,

(06:27):
we were talking about what he was able to put
out there offensively at twice as many turnovers. Jalen Hurts
did stuff that no other quarterback did in the NFL
this year, and he brought his team to a higher
level than Mahomes did. You don't see people saying how
great Jalen Hurts is, which is ridiculous, right, Robbie Gold
just an interview just saw it on Twitter saying that

(06:48):
if you're playing defense against Jalen Hurts, your defense is
gonna have a pretty good day. Now. I get that
they're sour grapes from the fort because they lost and
pretty got hurt. Hurts didn't have a great game, But
whoa the guy responsible for over thirty five touchdowns? The guy?
The guy had such a huge leap and quarterback of
the team that won the NFC. But people still don't

(07:09):
like him. But they hate the Eagles. They hate Rockey,
But how how do you hate the How can you
hate on it? Hate the Eagles fan? All they did
was played great all season. No, I don't like the Eagles,
but it goes to the larger narrative that has been
played out, and we talked about it last week, going
back to quotes about Sirianni, going back to the way
the team is constructed. Right, it's a color by numbers,

(07:32):
is more or less what many people have said. You've
got a record breaking defensive front with seventies sacks. It's
funny we were talking to in the pre show and
I'm spinning out statistics like why do you know these things?
Like that's what we do. We got problems, but you've
got a record breaking defensive front, and you've got a
multi pronged approach at the running back position, and you

(07:53):
add Hurts his efforts as a runner. And this again
goes back to how much do you love are like
or or not at all when you've got a guy
who's biggest value. I would say, and this isn't a
knock Hurts. This is me talking and trying to wrap
my arms around all of the criticisms, is that he's

(08:14):
a runner first. But but this is you and I talked,
but I'm grabbing everybody else in it. And for Patrick Mahomes,
he lost Tyreek Hill. How many people yourself included, thought,
oh that was gonna be the death. Knew they'd be good,
but there would be a decided drop off instead. What
happened in Andy Reid and his litany of assistant coaches,

(08:36):
including the defraud defamed uh and Putred Matt Naggy Uh.
They kept kept the line rolling with Patrick because he's
making all sorts of excuses this week about the bears,
uh and and and everything else. But it was Kelsey,
it was Mahomes, and it was Andy Reid and his
staff the enemy et cetera. But from a personnel standpoint,

(08:57):
the thought was that they were less than, which means
Mahomes is gonna get propped up. Not only does he
sound like Kermit the Frog, not only have all these
sound bites and people like him. As long as his
brother and his wife shut the hell up, right, that's
the thing. As long as they shut up, I'll vote
for him. Uh. And then on the other side, you
gotta be quiet, guys. You can't keep getting on social
media like y'all, they're never gonna get Wait, wait a minute,

(09:20):
maybe people actually like me more because they don't like
you too. So may I keep tweeting, keep saying some stuff.
And if I keep going the m vps, it's awesome.
You kind of on the Barney gumble, but not because
I'm trying to do the end year my voice his
horse John Patrick, like I've done that. You know, I've
been talking a lot, and I've been I've been doing that. No,
it's good. But but to the Eagles point again, the

(09:41):
fact that that roster top to bottom was so good
and Jalen Hurts and we talked about it before the season,
We talked about it all season long. He was a
guy that was there were a lot of questions on
you jumped on board and said, I think this guy
could be good if they trust him. And he went
and had a fantastic season. But he misses a couple
of games. Minshew wins one looks terrible in the other.

(10:02):
But you take the largest of the squad and all
the strength, and that doesn't mean that the Chiefs don't
have a lot of the same component parts. But it's
not looked at the same way. I don't say it's
not fair. I I get that it's unfair, but it's
in the end, you're looking for a face, you're looking
for a guy to prop up. It's you got a
guy that's already there. It's a popularity conscience. They want

(10:23):
Mahomes to be the face of the league, and it's
a popularity. He's more popular than Jalen Hurts. Everybody says
glowing things about him. Okay, you know, he does have
the best tight end maybe in the NFL. The last
twenty years, they have one of the top three defensive
lines in the game. So these guys are making plays, right,
It's not like boy Mahomes has nobody, but he just
has a bunch of guys. Now you lost Tyree Kill

(10:43):
suddenly that means you're defensive line stage. No, you still
have a talent rate. But but I mean a lot
more to deal with. But I'm not Still he did
throughout the year, right when you don't have the back seven.
I'm not saying he didn't have a great year. But
the you can see people say on a daily basis
about Jalen Hurts, how what players in the league say

(11:05):
about him? And yeah, part of me says, Okay, the
players in the league know what they're talking about. Yeah,
sure they do. They play against him, But um, the
guy again, you know, over thirty five touchdowns, he's got
seven yards rushing. The Eagles became the best team in
the NFC. You just don't like the guy. But again
he's but he's a guy don't like. You don't like him,
machine Serrianni, you don't like it. That's what I mean.

(11:27):
It's a popularity contest, and Mahomes is more popular, so
he gets more votes. And because he's more popular, you
see him as a different guy, right, because you want
to vote for him, I can blow off all the
stuff with the chief. Well, the chief it's like they
were playing with eight guys on offense. No, they still
had a pretty good offense. Yes, they lost a great
wide receiver and I get that you're losing, but you
still had a really great team. Again, you got to

(11:48):
the super Bowl. Okay. So it's like, well, you can't
just have one and say the other way. People like
Mahomes and because of his popularity, it's easier to vote
for him when you don't like somebody. It's not easy
to vote for a guy even if he does great things. Right,
think about it this way. Look at it for politics, right,
what's the most important thing in politics now? Is it
to be someone that says I have answers to all

(12:10):
these questions or is it to have the best sound
bite and be popping. I love what this guy says.
I love what this guy does on Twitter. I love
what this what this woman does here, I love what
she does here. I love what this senator does here
with this person out here. That's how. That's how people
vote for you, now, right, that's it's a popularity concert.
It's not about what you do on the field. And
this is close. I'm not saying it's not, but boy.
Forty eight votes from Mahomes and and one for Hurts.

(12:32):
When Hurts did something this year, nobody else the NFL
did tell you popularity. It is what it is, popularity popular.
I'm all about pop Who said that? Wrong? You got?
You didn't seem to complain that you've got a bunch
of votes for your Jets. Guys. That was on merit, completely,
completely on merit. The actually the officials also voted for

(12:54):
Sauce Gardner for Rookie of the Year, the ones that
wouldn't throw flags on him. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith's Show with Mike Harmon weekdays
at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harman
live from the Blue Wire Studios, the Wind Resort Hotel
and Casino here in Vegas. Tell Allan at the Mets, Yeah,

(13:18):
I'm the only guy walking around with the Mets hat
at the at the Wind right here, prized about that
I'm the only guy. I'm the only guy. It is
the off season. You think you want to associate with winners?
You know Wind logos, you want m and logos? Whatever
you need? Do you want? You want a funny story.
I got another funny story from my flight today. So
I'm flying out to flight to Vegas from l A

(13:41):
and my my plane was going on to Oakland. So
everybody's deplaning and they make the announce and saying, okay, right,
you don't flight, We're here. Thank you. Everybody's night flight.
We've landed. If you are continuing on to Oakland, please
stay in your seats. So everybody's staying in the seast
in their seats. And there was one guy in an
a's hat and uh, who was there, just like, oh,

(14:03):
it's kind of funny. And then uh, and then somebody
somebody walked by. I wish it was a raider, but
somebody walked by and said, oh, how funny, and and
and the guy said what and this. This guy's gotta
be like sixty I think he was. He sounded like
he was a New Yorker because he said he's going, hey, oh,
how funny. What's that? He goes, You know, it was
so funny because, uh, the raiders went from Oakland to

(14:25):
Las Vegas, and now the A's are gonna go from
Oakland to Las Vegas. And he left and he walked
to I said this guy's gonna get up. Come on
in if you will. Let's get it on Jugilism. Joining
us now on the hot Line. Fox Sports one, NBA
insider extraordinaire host of the On the Ball podcast. You

(14:46):
can follow them on Twitter at Rick Buker. That is
at Rick Buker. The latest topic of his On the
Ball podcast, how Josh Hart turns the Knicks into the
Eastern Conference Favorites. Rick. Welcome, man' I'm digging that podcast.
It downloaded, Thank you, Thank you appreciated that, Bunny. It's

(15:08):
pretty slow newsday at the last. Uh yeah, dude, I'm
I'm yeah, I'm kind of running on on on fumes here.
It was especially last night. Um, I mean, can we
can we have a moratorium on when these deals get done?
Doesn't really have to be in I'm We're I'm West Coast.
So it wasn't even that bad for me. But the

(15:30):
Kevin Durant thing certainly certainly surprised all of us, and
maybe maybe it shouldn't have. Obviously, he had expressed an
interest in going to the Phoenix suns Um back last summer.
I just did not believe. I thought, well, I believed
in the power of persuasion by the Booklyn nets To
convinced him to wait until the summer to to make

(15:52):
a move, and obviously they couldn't. So here we are.
But uh and it held said. You have a brand
new owner in the Phoenix Suns in that ba who
like I just I love brand new owners. Going back
to Mark Cuban when he first took over the Dallas Mavericks, Man,
they cannot wait to reinvent the wheel to show like

(16:13):
all the things that they're gonna do. It's just it's
so good poker off. I mean, go down the line
all the deep balmer like name a brand new owner
who hasn't gone out and tried to make some momentous
splash the instant that he owns the team. It's uh,
it's the best thing going well. And then you add

(16:34):
on top of that, Kyrie Irving has his debut with
the Mavericks. They win, and he goes all Heath Ledgard
Joker blowing up a hospital by going, yeah, I'm glad
Kevin Durant got out. Good for him. Oh yeah, Like,
I gotta tell you the lack of awareness for these guys.

(16:57):
Now you've had three haul same players who have asked
to be traded out of Booklyn. So you do have
to start to look at it and go, Okay, what
what's going on there? That the relationships are not strong
enough that all these guys are bailing on the franchise.
You have to ask that. But the lack of awareness that,

(17:19):
you know what, you guys have a certain amount accountability
to for this thing not working. You and k D
went there and said we're gonna win championships, and now
you both bailed before anything came close to happening. And
it's you know what, I feel disrespected, like I had

(17:40):
to get out of what they didn't do everything they
they didn't bend over backwards for him and KAD entire
time that they were there. Yes, yes, exactly. It's it's
it's just mind numbing. And it's why like the Dallas
Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns and anybody who's attaching themselves
to either either k D or Kyrie and saying, hey,

(18:03):
we've we've just improved our chances to win a championship,
I'm like, did you not have you not paid attention
to how things have gone? Even when k D was
winning championships in Golden State how that ended, and where
those two have been the last couple the last few years,
and what what the has transpired. I just I don't

(18:23):
know how anybody looks at that. I look, I get
the talent. Talent will always win out, and everybody will
always believe they're going to be different under our watch,
and maybe maybe they will be maybe, But to go
into that with confidence and not know that you're rolling
the dice, I don't know how anybody does that based

(18:43):
on what we've seen the last few years. Now. I
always say the same thing, Rick, when it comes to
getting k D or getting Kyrie. I have two words
of advice for these teams, the same two words. Good luck.
That's a good luck. You want good luck good luck
because you know what's gonna happen. You know it's gonna
go exactly. And and this is my concern because the

(19:04):
Phoenix suns uh And I'm doing a piece that will
run tomorrow about you know who improved the most? Who
who either changed their metric as far as being in
the title Chase conversation and did anybody leave Frog anybody else? Yeah?
Is that a heartwarming? Is that a heartwarming story? Josh

(19:27):
stock Hart and Talen front and getting telling. Talon Brunson
celebrated like they got honest. Oh yeah, well, because I
think that they're going to try to sneak in and
see if they can win another NT double A title.
I mean, I think, and I think they I think

(19:47):
they have a good shot. I think and the long run,
I almost did a spit take right here. I took
a sip of his chair in the whole night. I mean,
if this is our studio when l A, I'd have
done that in a second, but with this a night
studio here in the blue wire, like you were going
to spray that window. But anyway, you were talking about

(20:08):
the piece you had coming up. I didn't mean to interrupt,
but I know that are going to be a big
part of it, So go ahead, right right, And it's
about teams that have changed their fortunes, have moved up
into the title contending conversation or uh you know, leap
broad somebody else. And the the Phoenix Suns are the
one team that everybody feels like they put themselves in

(20:28):
the conversation that they weren't there previously. That even though
they had basically the same crew that went to the
finals two years ago, and and had the best record
in the league last year, that there was just something
about them this year they were not They were not
headed that way, and that getting Kevin Durant changes that.
It does put them in the conversation. There are a

(20:49):
number of things that have to happen in order for
them to maintain that. My concern about them now and
going forward is that we've that Katie doesn't want a
leadership role. He just wants to play. Devin Booker. Uh.
We saw how he performed and how he reacted emotionally

(21:09):
and how he just generally how he played before Chris
Paul came to town. All of this hinges. I believe
still with the Phoenix Suns, no matter how much talent
you give them, is can Chris Paul still be an
effective enough player to be your leader? And if he can't,
then I don't know that any of the other stuff

(21:31):
matters that other Otherwise, all you've done is you've recreated
what the Brooklyn Nets went through the last few years,
and instead of it being Kyrie and Katie, it's Devin
Booker and Katie. And that didn't get you where you
wanted to go. And so that's why I fully understand

(21:53):
why everybody's excited about the Phoenix Suns. I'm I'm excited.
You've got Katie and Tyree on opposite sides of the
mav Rick's Suns rivalry, which was already spicy, like give me,
give me more of that, and you've got k D
and Kyrie in the Western Conference with Lebron, Steph and
John and Kauai. I mean, I love all of that

(22:15):
for entertainment purposes, But if you're asking me, do I
believe as I'm hearing from a lot of people that
the Phoenix Suns should be the uh, you know, far
and away favorite to come out of the West as
a result of getting Katie. I'm not ready to go there.
Did they enter the conversation, Yes, But I believe that

(22:35):
it's still wide open in the Western Conference. Fox Sports
Radio Jason Smith Show with Me Mike Carmen live from
the mobile tire I Rack Studios. Of course, we also
are at the Blue Wire Studios presented by the Win
here in Las Vegas. Super Bowl Week. Pleased to be
joined to break down what has been the top story

(22:56):
across the sporting landscape, the NBA trade deadline. By our
guy FS one analyst on the Ball podcast with Rick Bucker. Yes,
you find him on Twitter at Rick Bucker. Rick. So
we had to go to the Lakers number one to
gout Lebron with the record, all the craziness. Bryant called
for the ball and he got unceremoniously dumped out of town.

(23:18):
A lot of shuffling of the roster, Kareem and the
odd lookings on him throughout the process, and then Lebron
takes Thursday night off against Milwaukee craziness. But all the
moves that get added up, what did they amount to
for the Lakers other than a new guys and more
uniforms well made for the people behind the scenes, Right,

(23:42):
they gotta put a bunch of nameplates on stuff. So
good for them they get they Well, Lebron has a
reason to continue to play. I assume, I mean he
he decided that after he broke the title, broke the record,
that I'm going to take the rest of the kind
of take the rest of the night off, and I
kind of that that to me is an incredibly bad

(24:04):
look defense either. Hey, Anthony Davis was so tired he
couldn't even stand up for him when he when he
won when when he broke the records, there's a lot
of tired people going on with the Lakers. Okay, honestly, like,
as much as I want to celebrate and and this
is the difficulty I have. Breaking that record should be

(24:24):
a celebration. It should be something that we all go, dang,
that was. That was impressive, and in much the same
way step Steph setting the three point record, like stop, hallelujah,
let's recognize all of that. But as I'm watching, I'm
getting none of that. Uh never mind. They lost to

(24:48):
the Oklahoma City Thunder, but they gave up a hundred
thirties three points. Yeah, yeah, but but only lost by
red and Lebron couldn't play the last four but four
and a half minutes, five minutes in a game that
they needed to win, Like this was and and and

(25:11):
was a gettable game. I can get the record, but yeah,
you guys are gonna try to You have to try
to find a way to win it without me, because
I like, I'm not I'm not that healthy. I'm healthy
enough to become the all time scorer, but I'm not
enough to help you win a game. And so I
and then I mean, it's just it's just a bad

(25:33):
optic and it's a bad message. And I believe it's
partly why you saw Anthony davis attitude or behavior, because
this was not about winning a game. This was not
about the the Lakers still trying to make the postseason.

(25:53):
This was purely about Lebron breaking the record, and Lebron
on bought into it's just about me breaking the record.
That's that's not a good message to send the rest
of your team. So in some ways they probably needed
to move a lot of those guys out because it
was like, you guys who weren't here for that, Okay,

(26:18):
I mean, you don't have the Will Smith's flashy you know,
the neuralizer, you know, the neuralizers to clear everybody's memory.
So we just need to move them out, and we
need to burn the tape so that nobody is aware
of of what transpired. Um I look, I think that
they have enough. I did not think that they could

(26:39):
even make the play in game with what they had.
I believe that they have what what they need to
make the play in to make the playoffs, maybe even
you know, a first round upset, depending on who they
get they get matched up with. But all of that
is depending on Anthony Davis and Lebron James. Like neither

(27:05):
one of those guys can miss a couple of weeks.
They have to be available from here until the end
of the season. There there is no even with all
the changes, there is no margin for error. Do I
think they can get there with this crew as opposed
to the one that they had, Yes, I do, But
they're gonna need all hands on the deck. It's not
It's not going to happen easily. And I still think

(27:26):
they probably wind up if they end up in the playoffs,
having to do it through the plan. All right. Lastly, Rick,
you talked to you told us about the column you're
working on. Give us one team that you really love
what they did the last twenty four thirty six hours
that have either changed the metric or or or changed
the direction of their team. Love is an awfully strong word.

(27:50):
It can't, I can't they Well, you know what I
will see. You know what I love. I love that
the Nick sent camra Dish to the Portland's Trailblazers to
have Chauncey Billups as his head coach. Oh it gets
back to Cam Reddish. Good job, Now cam can score

(28:10):
fifty points once a week and get thirty five minutes,
and it's what the hell happened? Why is he not
getting why did he get there? That's coming? That Thibodeaux
had the stick figure. He goes, I had to get
rid of that guy that's coming. And that's why. And
that's why, Jason, that's why I love it. He's on
Twitter at Rick Bucker, that is at Rick Buker. Check

(28:31):
out his latest again coming up, UH Teams to Change
the Metric. It's on Fox sports dot com. It will
be on Fox sports dot com. Also check out the
On the Ball podcast as well. Rick has always Buddy
appreciated my friend. We'll talk to you next week. Reddit
Show thanks Raddy Reddish Reddish. I like that he got
Cam Reddish it in there. We're sweeping up here were

(28:54):
swep is like for the Reddish. Cam Reddish now boy
not have to worry about playing so much pesky defense.
He's now he's taking thirty five shots a game. Look
at Cam who hates people more? Tom Thibodeau and and
Cam Reddish or the NFL world and Jalen Hurts hate
seven seven. There's one guy that hated Cam Reddish the

(29:17):
entire world hates Jalen Hurts. Be sure to catch live

And now we need to talk about charity, and I

(29:38):
mean real charity. Charity burbage. That's the chob too soon
on charity? Is it really too soon at this point?
Until today she was professor of at Hogwoods. I mean,
that's that's fully processed by this point. Severus, we're friends.
That's when I knew he was not going to be redeemed.
You just let you. You just heard a man. He

(30:00):
let him die, and he just let him go. He
live from the Blue Ire Studios here at the Wind
Resort Hotel and Casino. Jayson Smith, Mike Harmon. A big
night in the NFL. The NFL Honors will get back
into that coming up in a few minutes, But a
bombshell story revolving around Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, who won

(30:21):
the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in
his why Not You foundation has made has made a
lot of difference for people over the course of the
past few years, but uh, in the two years since
that happened. According to a six month investigation by USA Today,
charity is kind of a loose term to talk about

(30:42):
Russell Wilson and the Why Not You Foundation. According to
the USA Today investigation, Wilson's foundation reported had spent six
hundred grand on charity and one point one million dollars
on employees salaries and benefits from one What that means
in simple term, it means the foundation spent twenty one

(31:02):
cents of every dollar on chariteb activities in and twenty
seven cents of every dollar on channel activities in one.
The rest of it went to salaries and all kinds
of stuff. So the last two years, about twenty percent
of the money they got went to charities, the rest
went to salaries. This is what big time charity is

(31:25):
like now. Because not to defend Russell Wilson, because I'm
not because this is ridiculous. Yeah, I mean, they've responded,
and it's a lot of song and dance, you know,
the smiles on the faces of the people see and
that The thing is you have to understand that charities
are not what you see on lifetime movies and movies
like you you think of what a big charity isn't
it's I walk into this to this student, to this business,

(31:48):
and it's a woman maybe around fifty years old, who
was attractive, but you could tell she's haggard because she
spends every second of every day trying to help kids
or animals life time or some for a weekend. No no, no, no, no,
no no no no. Is that you walk in and

(32:09):
you think, and she looks tired, but she's still I
looks at every second I do every day is about kids,
It's about saving these animals. It's about this cause. And
we don't have enough that you don't have enough money,
but everybody is just doing everything they can. They spend
every second of every day. How do we help someone?
What in reality? And then they go and they and

(32:30):
and someone comes in and they helps him and then
it's but in reality, it's a big business. It's what
can we get next to what can this charity look good?
We're supporting what can we do here now? Not to
the extent of where three quarters of every dollar is
spent on people working there, but Still this is kind
of what what what charities are. I'm not surprised at

(32:51):
this story. I'm just surprised at the amount of money
reported that goes to the charity and the se of
it that goes elsewhere that I think you could open
up any charity. We've seen this in the last couple
of years. Look at what this charity is. Look what
this charity is, and the amount of money they actually
spend on the charitable donations themselves. That's why there's a
big Better Business Bureau that does is, Hey, this charity

(33:12):
is great. They spend X amount of dollars X amount
of dollars. I'm not surprised at this, but just the
amount of money is what shocks me. And that's the
thing is that you got to do your due diligence. Obviously,
everybody's trying to do do good in the world. Uh.
And I had to say that properly because you know,
you're you're trying to do well with your resource whatever,
and but to do good to do charity. Uh, But

(33:35):
you do your due diligence and you start researching. Because
there's plenty of fly by nights, There's been plenty, plenty
of movies and oh wow, they weren't what they've seen,
or this is a scam perpetrated around the holidays or whatever.
But there's plenty of charities where of the dollars go
back into the the cause, be it animals, be it

(33:59):
child being hunger, be it whatever. You just gotta do
a little more research. In this case, there's a lot
of explaining to do about administrative costs. And I get it.
You've got hangers on, you've got people because the celebrity's
time is you know, to have people around and be safe,
because we've seen the entourage that Russell Wilson moves with.

(34:19):
That's a lot of what's at scrutiny here is people
making hefty salaries in the name of charity. Twitter and
how about a fresco Mike at swallow down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next,
We had some big time NFL honors tonight from the
tirect dot com studios. We get into the controversial ones
straight ahead, Fox
