Mike Harmon, I mean, every day is just a better day.
It's a bigger gift than the day before. I didn't
know today we'd be able to start the show by
saying future first ballot Hall of Famer and New York
Jets quarterback Derek Carr. But that really did escalate quickly,
(01:07):
didn't This is what we've been giving. This is the
gift that we have been given tonight. It's like it's
like the gods came down today. You guys really kick
ass every night. Thank you appreciate that we're gonna give
you this gift. Derek Carr future first ballot New York
Jets Hall of Famer, not just a Hall of Famer
first ballot Jasons there. Yeah, not make me pull up
(01:29):
Derek Carr stats. I'm all about a cell job, right, sure,
I am all about a good cell job. Hell, half
of what we do here is get in there and
sell cell cell not just for the products and services
that we partner with our beautiful friends over at ti
iraq dot com, where you can go get everything you
(01:51):
need to get up and down the highways and byways
of life safely, efficiently and cost effectively. No, it's it's
the idea that you have stories that we have to
sometimes look at and go, all right, how big is this?
All right, it's five. We can make it an eight,
a little bit of elevate the voice, scream back and forth,
(02:11):
because there's always an argument to be had. Let's face it,
we are a witty Yeah. I'll leave it at that,
because then I start getting into what people could see
as negative discussions of us. But we can get after
it with Derek Carr. No matter how much I'm trying
to get you to sign with my squad. That's something.
(02:31):
Those are words that can never come out of anybody's mouth.
But I don't care what cell job you're doing. Come on, man,
So what happened today? As Derek Carr still we don't
know if Aaron Rodgers in his darkness retreat. There was
no appearance today on Pat McAfee's show. He may still
be in the darkness. Maybe he had a darkness additional
(02:52):
Maybe he's feeling so good he added a couple of
days to it. But he's still in the darkness retreat.
And the legend of Derek Carr re Agent Goldmine continues
to go. ESPN's Diana Rassini reporting earlier today that in
the visit Derek Carr had with the Jets over the
weekend that went tremendously well. He and Robert Sala got
(03:12):
along well, Derek. Everything was great, right, Everything was great
in this meeting. Supposedly, according to Diana Rassini, the Jets
told Derek Carr, you come to New York and win,
and you will be a first ballot of famer, not
just not just a Hall of Famer, there's hall of famers.
A look, we know it's the hall of very good.
(03:35):
Now you know very good people are getting it now.
First ballot means you are a big dive, super duper star,
first ballot Hall of Famer Derek Carr. Yeah, but see now,
now the hype machine is like, Okay, Jason Smith is
the only guy really not excited about Derek Carr going
to the Jets. So we have to make him excited.
(03:55):
And now it's starting to get me a little excited.
Going uh, first ballot, he goes, he could be a
first ballot Hall of Famer. Well, let me see if
I can do this for you based on Pro Football
Reference dot com, and I'll trust them to have amassed
the proper numbers to give us the data we need
to make this argument and have this discussion before excuse me,
(04:16):
Jason has a family before you go there. He has
been a league leader four times various categories in his okay,
a league leader four times, yeah, all right, twice he
has led the NFL and fumbles in eighteen twenty twenty
(04:37):
all right, lost fumbles are just fumbles because if it's
just fumbles. They could be They could be red Herring's
designed to make the opponent think that, oh, the balls
on the ground, But really no, I got it, and
now I can throw the ball deep downfield. Yeah, so
it could be fumbles as a strategical the quarterback fakes, no,
he pretends to fake. I mean it could be that. Yeah.
He has fumbled eighty times in his career. That's good time.
(05:00):
He's seventh among active players. He's also recovered twenty of them,
so he's started team there, so good, good job by him.
Another category in which he has led the league in
the past. In twenty sixteen, he led the league in
sack percentage, being sacked at a rate of one at
every forty three dropped backs two point seven eight percent. Okay,
(05:22):
all right, well maybe category hang on, but maybe with
those sacks he was saving everybody from interceptions. Hey, I'll
take the sack to save So it was actually a
good play by him. Yeah, okay, Well, sack percentage index
he also like tied to that. He did that one.
So those are together. The one positive for you is
(05:45):
that in twenty fifteen he led the NFL with four,
count them, four game winning drives Okay, thirty three of them.
That's Hall of Fame material, fifth among active players, sixteenth
all time. So that's that's Hall of Fame material right there.
That's Hall of Fame material. Sure, plenty times inside the
(06:08):
top ten and passer raining twice in passing touchdowns, four
seasons in the top ten, and most passes intercepted in
a year. Nah, he's got that going for him. Who
MBP shares two Offensive Player of the Year shares four
Pro Bowls? Remember Snoop Hunley also a Pro bowler along
(06:32):
with Derek Carr. This passion, you know, you don't need
you don't need to hit me on the side with
that Snoop Unley Pro Bowl thing. Okay, he just broke it.
You don't need to do that. Okay. It's a record
sixty three and seventy nine. Nah. Huh. He does have
thirty five thousand career yards, so he's got that going
for him. Yeah, what about European yards. I haven't done
the conversion yet, but let's just say a little bit more, uh,
(06:54):
and then a little more than two to one touchdown
the interception ratio on his career first ballot Hall of Famer,
what Mike basically just told America in the world is
Derek Carr? Thinks, well, no, I you know why I
could give him credit for one thing though, Fellows before
we can continue on, is that unless he's actually benched
(07:17):
or he's broken in half, you know it's broke, it's broke.
He doesn't miss games, so he's got that going for
him too. No, no, no, when he when he when
he plays average, you know he's out there. He's very dirty,
he's very noticeable. He's pretty strty. Now let me now,
let me play Devil's Advocate with you, because this is fun,
right because we're talking about he's first ballot Hall of
(07:39):
Famer Derek Jason, We're talking about Derek Carr. Is this
really first first ballot? That's really fun? First ballot? When
you put respect on his name, when you say Derek
never first ballot. You can't you see the news. Can't
you see like n y one coming on the air,
going people in the news tonight? Uh? First ballot Hall
(08:00):
of Famer Jets quarterback newly minted Derek Carr right in
the opening bell at the Stock Exchange. They look at that.
After a career which involved three World World Championships, because
they would say something like world championships, World championships and
a recent Hall of Fame induction. Here he is New
York's own favorite adopted son ringing in the I mean
you can see that, right, you can see he can
see he rings the bell at everybody collaps for him. Now,
(08:21):
let me let me just tell you a bit how
he can be. Don't laugh, don't laugh. Whatever you do,
don't laugh, don't laugh. How can he be a first
ballot Hall of Famer if he goes to the Jets?
How can it happen? It's impossible, now, remember it's not hey,
nothing is at The Jets put two guys in the
Hall of Fame and had offensive and defensive Rookie of
(08:43):
the Years on the same night. Don't tell me anything
as a bot title of his stage as he goes
around dash as a motivational speaker, Frost nothing. Nothing is impossible.
The world Jets had two Hall of Famers on one day.
Don't tell me anything is impossible. Uh, Derek Carr has
had a decent career, so right right to the Pro
(09:05):
Bowlers might have been the Pro Bowl four times. Um.
If he goes to the Jets and the Jets win
two Super Bowls. Okay, not one? Not one? And I'm
getting greedy, and they win two super Bowls. If you
win two Super Bowls as a starting quarterback in the NFL,
you're getting into the Hall of Fame. Eli Manning is
(09:27):
getting into the Hall of Fame, whether you like it
or not, going to get it in the corner waiting
for his invitation. He's going to get in. Who's waiting?
Huh Plunkett? Well, Jim Plunkett played in an era where
you know, through eight passes in a in a game.
But he ain't in right, But this is when you're
talking about the modern era of quarterbacks winning and Eli
(09:50):
Manning drives win super Bowls. It doesn't matter. It's generally
who would you? You are a Hall of Fame, You're
going to the Hall of Fame. Derek Carr had a
pretty good career, five Pro Bowls. I don't know that
Jim Plunkett, you know, made it into Pro Bowls. I'm not.
I'm not sure. I don't. I don't, I don't. I
don't know they actually made it into a Pro Bowl.
But yeah, I don't think. Let me say I played
(10:14):
defense then yeah, nine am I conneling him. He was
zero Pro Bowls. Jim Plunkett. Jim Plunkett was zero Pro Bowls,
but it did win two Super right generally, and most
of his career he started less than twelve games in
a year. So let's just realize that. Hey, remember the
NFL once upon a time was a twelve game uh league?
This was yeah, but he's still played three eight, nine, four.
(10:36):
That's not a lot of games. Uh. Eli Manning's getting
and Derek Carr wins two Super Bowls and has a
career just like this. Let's say has a career just
like he's had and he plays four or five more years,
he wins two Super Bowls, He's going to the whole
of Fame. He's first bout all of fame. But Derek Carr,
just think about this. I won a Super Bowl with
the Jets, not once, not just one, which seems like, okay,
(10:58):
it's once every hundred years. No, no, no, I did
it twice. You win the Super Bowl twice with the Jets.
Who's keeping you out of the Hall of Fame. Who's saying, no, no,
we can't for this guy. This guy got the Jets
into the Hall of Fame. This guy, But you took
before the show, Jason, I want them. Oh hey, listen, listen.
I'm not saying that Jets are gonna win to Super Bowls,
but if they do, he's a first ballot Hall of Famer.
(11:20):
Someone had to write out the path, right, someone had
to make it and try to speak it into exist
that Jason Smith is going to be that guy. M
and now he is working on a It is a
work of fantasy. This is not quite Gronk erotica, but
it's it's right in the same vicinity. When you start
talking about the Jets winning multiple Super I know it,
(11:44):
really it really loses it really loses steam when you
get to the part of it the Jets can win
multiple Super Bowls with this guy. But I'm saying, how
does it happen? And he can do this, and he
can do that, and the Jets will win multiple Super Bowls.
What's next? They're gonna have Magic Johnson come out and
tell him his jersey's gonna hang at the top of
(12:04):
that life. Oh now you're talking. There's a cell job
right there, right, But but but tell me that's the
Jets winning two, not one who super Bowls. If he
does that Yeah, anybody's a Hall of Famer. If Zach
Wilson for everybody else, what's gonna be related to this
story then? Because it's the Jets, there's leading. Oh, he
(12:27):
led the Chiefs to two super Bowls super Bowls. Come on, man,
the Giants have one super Bowls and the Patriots of
one super Bowls. The Steelers have won super Bowls and
all these teams have won sumed, the Niners have one
super Bowl. That doesn't matter the Jets. That's like saying,
the Jets and the Lions is what it would work for. Dude,
you led the Lions to two super Bowls. If Jared
(12:49):
Goff led the Lions to two super Bowls, he's getting
into the Hall of Fame. The Jets, the Lions are.
It doesn't matter who plays him at that point. Well,
it is a Hall of Fame. It's not the Hallow,
you know what I mean. Well, it is all very
good now, so, but I mean the Jets and the line,
I mean, you're getting in. You're absolutely getting in. There's
no way you're not. There's no The Jets think about Harmon,
not any other team, the Jets. Yeah, Well, talking about
(13:14):
regular NFL teams, We're not talking about NFL teams. We're
talking about the Jets. You're going out all ai and
using Jets stead instead of practice. My head hurts from
this really is kind of an interesting thing. I mean,
it's either matter. You gotta do some top five lists.
I mean that's that's what you're Yeah, okay, sure, sure
what players can win two Super Bowls? The lead that
(13:36):
no matter what they do, that list is is Derek
Carr with the Jets and Jared Golf of the lines.
That's it right there on How great is this? That's
your way and that that's the cell job they about
that coming in? All right? How do we put you
in a Jets uniform? Not how do I like? Smart salesman? Yeah?
But how do you into Jets uniform? This is go
(13:56):
see Cow's last mission that stand right, just the harmon
in a in a plaid jacket trying to tie his tie. Hey,
what do we need to do to get you in
one of these? Because what do we need to get
you and do a Jets uniform? Tell me what do
we got here? I got all kinds of stuff. I
gotta dashboard jets? Is your brother gonna shut up? As
we've had enough of him too. Oh yeah, yeah, no,
(14:17):
I admit I've already had enough of David Carr. I've
had I've had enough. Man. If your brother wants to
cry and moan about the way he felt done dirty
by the Raiders, then get in front of a damn microphone.
Don't use you as the emissary. Yeah no, no, I've
had enough of him. Yeah, honey has bad hair. Yeah no,
I've he's got more hair than I do. I can't
(14:38):
really say a whole lot, Mike, everybody has more. Yeah,
not true, that's true, that's true. Be sure to catch

Jets Hall of Famer Derek Carr. That's how we officially
(15:21):
have to prefer him on the show. Now, No, that's
I mean, look, I like the reports Jason that his
meeting went. Well. If they're kissing your ass telling you
you're gonna be a first ballot Hall of Famer if
you come here, now, how terrible could it be? Oh?
Ione was dry? I mean, come on, I was gonna
sign with you, but what happened at Scone I had
(15:42):
was really dry. Very scone, get out of here. Future
first ballot Hall of Famer. I mean, and think about
the Jets letting that get out, or or the Jets
actually saying it. Yeah, dude, you can be a first
ballot Hall of Famer, which, yeah, you bring the Jets
the super Bowl, certain things go along with it, you know. Okay,
(16:03):
that's like saying, hey, if I become president of the
United States, they'll rename my high school after me. Yeah,
they probably would if I became. But am I becoming president?
I mean, RISI is Derek cart winning this? I mean
come on, yeah, of course that's going to happen. You go,
you lead the Jets to the to the Super Bowl twice,
not once, but twice. Yeah, you'll be a Hall of Famer.
(16:23):
Let's think about it, man, now, now picturing Derek the
big back to back on the back of the New
York posts and all the headlines Jets drive car to
Super Bowl victory. Oh, come on man. His acceptance speech
at his induction, Um, thank you, thank you very much.
And when you say car, it's like a Ford festiva. Right, No, no, no, no,
come on. Does brother do his speech at the ceremony? No,
(16:46):
you know his speech would be in a New York accent.
He's dropping the Southern accent because he's got to be
in New York. Hey, none of you be thought I
could be a quarterback here in New York. But guess
what I did? And blank you Sermi and you Costello
and Samini? Where's that guy? Yeah? You Samite? All you
blank you blank you all you guys, all you you thought?
Look how good I am right here? This is how
(17:07):
I spoke my whole life. All right, get off my back.
I'll kick your ass all right, all right, thank you all.
That's pretty good and blank all of you again? All right, great,
thank you very much. Glad to be here in the Canton's,
Ohio for all of his stuff. Right here, it's pretty good.
That's like four Hawaiian heel turning. He does it? Well, Hey,
Jordan did the heel turn in his Hall of Fame speech? Wow?
(17:27):
Not blank, you you're cool. I'm using my Hall of
Fame speech to settle scores with everyone. That's what I'm
gonna Jason. Why did they relocate the Jets Hall of
Fame to Canton, Ohio? And maybe Hey, listen, Jet, the
Jets don't have a Hall of Fame. The Jets have
a there's a reason they have a basement with pictures
up in it. Hey, look at Jersey's gonna be in
the ran. Hey, it's just true. Did you guys really
(17:53):
retire Julius Randall for like one good regular season like
in twenty twenty? Is you really retired as Jersey for that?
So mine before is gonna go in right for That's
what I'm gonna wear. You know what I want? I
want to wear twelve. I want you to take that
crap down out of retirement and I'm gonna wear it.
I know Namas said he would give it to Rogers.
Well blank, that guy, he's in the darkness right I'm
here playing for you right now. I want twelve. I
(18:13):
want twelve. I'm gonna wear it. Give it to me
right now, I'll go, I'll go break the glass and
pull it out a weeview bank hall, and I'll put
it on and I'll wear it all around the place.
All right, get off my back, all of you, blank
you and blank you, Samini, all right, there were you?
You dust it off a week knowledge right there, first
(18:34):
ballot Hall of Famer. Hey man, the comedy rights itself.
It's great man now not the only quarterback because uh
in the news, because this is a this is a
really big story, whether or not anything happens. This is
one of those where the ends are going to justify
the means. With what we've heard from the Cowboys the
(18:57):
last twenty four hours, Dak Prescott is in his last
year as the Cowboys quarterback. If he doesn't step up,
he's gonna be gone after this season, right, I got
your attention now, Okay? Good? So Dallas in the last
two days has been linked to two quarterback prospects as
we get closer to the combine in the NFL Draft.
(19:18):
Yesterday's story was they were intrigued by c. J. Stroud.
Oh that's nice. He's a really good quarterback. I'm intrigued
by him. Well, you should be. He's a good quarterback. Now,
it's likely that Stroud's going number two overall in the draft,
so you know, getting up there to get CJ. Stroud
to be kind of difficult because the Cowboys don't pick
until the twenties. The other guy they have been linked
to today was They are really intrigued and have done
(19:42):
a lot of research Onhended Hooker, who was coming off
a torn acl probably would have been might have normally
been a first round quarterback, but with a lot of
guys being taken early this year, Hooker will probably slide
to the end of the first round beginning of the
second round. So potentially Hooker could be there for the
Dallas Cowboys. And before he got hurt, he was terrific,
right he was, he was becoming Hey, maybe he could
(20:03):
win the Heisman, right, sure, maybe he could win the Heisman? Right?
Maybe good maybe good win? So what to make out
of this? Cowboys want CJ. Strout and Hendon Hooker. This
is the takeaway from this. Dak Prescott is in his
last year of put up or shut up, or he's
going to be on a different team in a year.
All right, Now his contract do you say it was
contrast contract, His contract is not nearly as ridden with
(20:27):
money difficulties as Aaron Rodgers difficult as Aaron Rodgers contract is.
You can get out of it, you can move around
some money. The dead cap is not insurmountable. It's not that,
oh boy, we're done here, We're done here. No, if
you want to part ways with a thirty year old
Dak Prescott who's already got a contract for the next
year or two, a team can say, all right, I'll
(20:48):
inherit that because money's is gonna go up. I'm not
gonna go get Joe Burrow for sixty million dollars year,
my homes for seventy million dollars a year. So yeah,
you can move on because there will be a team
that is intrigued by Dak Prescott if he has a
Dak Prescott year like he had this year. Because Dak
Prescott has been at times pretty good, most of the
time a little bit above average, and as you've seen
with the interest on Derek Carr, there will be interest
(21:09):
in him next year. But this is the Cowboys putting
him on warning right away. This is we are not
two weeks out from the Super Bowl and the Cowboys
have already been linked to two quarterbacks. Are they getting CJ. Stroud? No,
they're not getting him because he's gonna go number two
and they're not going to trade all their draft capital
he get all the way up to number two for him.
(21:29):
But Hendon Hooker, Yeah, this is a message to Dak
Prescott that this is what you need to do because
if you don't, we will move on. They are pissed.
They are pissed at him for last They're pissed from
the playoff game and the interceptions. They're pissed. They gave
him all this money and he's not been the leader.
He's not been the guy they thought he was going
to be. Now it's their fault because they decided to
(21:51):
pay Dak Prescott like he was a superstar quarterback and
he's not. But he's a quarterback of the Cowboys and
Jerry Jones drafted him late, so let's give him a
lot of money. That's not our fault, that's their fault.
But they are now telling him, Okay, now we gave
you this, you need to step up or this is
gonna be it. Because they're doing they're borrowing from the
Packers playbook right now. Of Hey, we drafted Jordan Love
(22:12):
in the first round and we put pressure on Aaron
Rodgers and what happened. Rodgers responded with two MVP seasons.
So the Cowboys are hoping they don't want to get
rid of Dak Prescott. They're hoping that this quarterback infatuation
they have right now is going to get Dak Prescott
to kind of, oh, straighten up a little bit and
go all right, I gotta make sure, no, no, no,
I know the pressure's on. I gotta raise my game
(22:32):
next year or they're going to replace me with somebody,
because they will draft someone like Hendon Hooker in the
second round and think, okay, in a year, maybe he's
ready to go, and Dak plays out this year and
we go on from there and if Dak is really good, awesome, Right,
we still got Dak, we got Hendon Hooker and everything
is okay. We'll play it out for a couple of years.
Look where the Packers are right now. They're looking at
a point where they have to move on from Aaron Rodgers.
Hey guess what, We're not as locked into Dak for
(22:55):
as much money we have a little more flexibility. This
is one of message that Dak's got this year to
prove it or he's going to be on another team
in the Cowboys. I'm moving on. Yeah, this is the
last of the prohibitive years. The potential out after this year,
there'd be a thirty nine point nine or thereabouts dead
cap for twenty twenty four. This year the dead cat
number Jason eighty nine million dollars cap hit of forty
(23:19):
nine plus. So yeah, you start looking to the future
and you should be anyway. Dak is unfortunately going to
be one of those guys on the poster board for
just because he's the next guy up dot dot dot.
And you know, part of it was roster construction trying
to figure out who was going to be number two.
(23:40):
To see d Lamb and Dalton Schultz is fantastic. The
rest of those wide receivers that you tried to cobble together.
Gallup was coming back off a big injury, had a
couple of moments, but wasn't consistent. James Washington, you picked
up from Pittsburgh. He couldn't get on the field right,
he was hurt and missed virtually the entire seat. Just
(24:01):
go on down the line. You didn't have a discernible
number two wide out and your run game again anchored
by your refusal to recognize what Ezekiel Elliott is at
this point portion of his career limited you, and then
Tony Pollard gets hurt. Tony Pollard plays the rest of
the game. Who knows what you have. But the twenty
(24:22):
three touchdowns fifteen interceptions certainly very glaring in this day
and age about taking care of the football, right. Those
kind of numbers were skawbuck and I don't have his numbers, Andy,
but Terry Branshaw company back in the day where a
lot of your throws were downfield fifty fifty balls and
you made plays or you didn't, and an interception was
(24:44):
all right, it was a punt move on. Nowadays it's
about operational efficiency, completion percentage and limiting your turnovers. As
we know what a huge percentage there is when you
can tilt it your way in terms of winning. But
Dak Prescott, yeah, this is it. Jerry Jones, as much
as he was the guy for Jerry, how much he
(25:07):
loved him, Remember how long it took to get that
deal together. We were on air for probably eighteen months together,
you and I pondering that, and I think we were
both pretty much in lockers up and going, why are
you paying him based on what he's done to this
point other than he's the next guy up. And that's
exactly what they did. And now you're Hamstrong trying to
(25:27):
figure out how to work both sides of the ball
bring in the requisite talent. Now that you're looking at
the Eagles, now they've got their own problems with free agency,
losing their coordinators, etc. But you know that model has
been far more efficient in the last half decade than
anything you've done, going on a full two decades since
Troy Aikman, since the triplets were running around. So you've
(25:48):
got to figure something out. And that includes the beloved Romo. Yes,
even during that era, I had to because he was
yelling sideline Jason, Jason, I got an idea, Jim, Jim Tony,
I'm Wade Phillips, Yeah, Jim, Jim, Jim, I'm just practicing
from my posts, playing for everybody. Jim. He just calls everybody,
(26:09):
just let's just play in the NFC. How do you
know if you're not's not going to Fox Troy's there,
Jim Jim, Jim Jim. Let me just tell you a Chip, Jim,
just like Jesse Venture would call everybody McMahon. Well, you're
you're another Vince mcmah you're another mcmahay, mcmahman. You can
call everybody Jim, Jim, Jim, Chip. That was funny. Even
do you end up calling Dutch McMahon in Peter Day McMahon,
(26:30):
how do you not make his name McMahon, Hey, I'm Mcmahonay, Hey,
Jim Jim, Jim Jim Jim. No. But look, this is
the Cowboys. This something happened after the playoffs where there
I don't want to say their patients, but their sudden
belief in Prescott being the savior that snapped like that,
(26:51):
that that whole thing just snapped. We've seen Dak Prescott
fall short before, we've seen him play well, but something
just snapped in that in that loss. How did we
lose this game? We should have been able to win.
He threw the picks. It was terrible. And that has
pushed the Cowboys on a new direction. I mean, this
is I mean, you could hear yo. They're intrigued back
nah Cowboys linked to quarterbacks. Man, this is it. This
(27:13):
is an era where teams, teams get you know, can
move on from their quarterbacks. Now, guys don't play there
their entire careers. Even got you think are legends that
will play there, and no, they all move on at
some point. So this is the Cowboys saying, this is it, Deck,
this is your year. Nothing's gonna happen this year, nothing
but but this is your year. And if it's not
this year, guess what next year. We're calling the Jets going, hey,
(27:34):
you she'll like Derek Carr. Would you like to get
rid of him and come get back Prescott? Okay, that's
what's happening in a year from now. Mike Harmon, Yeah,
if I'm listening to David Carr, try to talk me
into Derek Carr as a cowboy, we hit a whole
other level. Dude, We have to talk. But the reality
is that at some point you do need to turn
(27:55):
the table in. And we talk about this for Jerry
Jones and and you don't want to go into the
the morbid side of things, but he's talked openly about
father time and where he is and the not quite
using the word desperate. But I think we all kind
of look around it with some of the moves that
are made, dollars thrown out, some of the language that
he's used over the last twelve to twenty four months.
(28:17):
It's recognizing he's got to get it done now and
looking at around the rest of the division and seeing
that there's no easy task right because the Giants are
right back in the mix now. They've got decisions to make,
and Daniel Jones we talked about yesterday. Dollars and cents there,
say Quon Barkley. Right now, the leader in the clubhouse
is the Bears if he leaves New York, which is interesting,
(28:39):
but go on down the line that in Washington, as
much as they're a disaster, they're good enough to mess
up the division, right and if Sam Howell can can
do anything, it'll be a step forward of what the
quarterbacking was this year. So they're they're good enough to
mess up any Cowboys potential runs. So in the division,
(29:00):
you're looking around going we're not getting any relief in
those six games, and now we've got to go make
moves and can't rest on just the brand loyalty because
folks can go get their money everywhere. Be sure to

(29:41):
this quarterbacks is a story from this week that I
am rooting like hell for it to happen. It's not
Derek Carter the Jets. It's not hundred million dollar opening
for cocaine. Bear No, no, you say hundred million dollars
opening a cocaine in the same sentence. People don't know
where you're talking about the movie called Cocaine. Yeah, okay,
just making sure people understand that um is there. You
(30:06):
are really obsessed with that movie, man, I mean more
so than I'm obsessed with movies. You're really obsessed. Whole
universe opens up this week. I just like the Clay Davis.
Isn't cocaine beart from the wire? I like that he's
one of the star Yes, gets a good cast. I
hope he gets to do his line from the Wires go.
I can't say it because it's you know, it's it's
(30:27):
it's it's Kurts. But I really hope he gets to
do his line and cocaine bearts. But you got Jesse
Tyler Ferguson, Oh yeah, Russell, Oh Jackson Junior. Yeah yeah, Leona, Yeah,
this is on. It's one of those movies where people go,
you know, you'd be in this movie. It might be
(30:48):
a piece of crap, but it might be something that
gains a lot of attention. Ah, blanket, I'll do it.
What do I care? All right, sure, I want to
know this movie. Well, what's the pin that you get
from Elizabeth Banks to be in it? Though, Well, it's
Elizabeth Banks. So you're saying, Okay, she's not gonna do
something that sucks. So you're like, okay, I'm with you,
all right, we've pitched perfect was really good. All right,
I'm with him with you. Hey. It's about a bear
(31:10):
that finds a load of cocaine and what does he do, Well,
he ingests it and he goes and he kills people.
Oh so it's like the new Snakes on a Plane. Okay, sure, yeah,
I'm in for that. Why not? Ye? I mean, Sam
Jackson's done like one hundred and seventy five movies. They're
gonna go, oh yeah, from Pulp Fiction and Snakes on
a Plane. All right. So if that, if that's my
(31:31):
dark side of the moon, okay, I'm okay with it.
Oh Carrie Russell, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, from from a
Cocaine Bear. Yeah yeah, she was great in that. Yeah yeah. Okay, Hey,
not a bad way to be all right. So what's
the story that has your wrapped attention? Oh boy, because
it's something we haven't seen. Like we've seen star players
team up in the NBA, we've seen stars change place
(31:52):
in the NFL, but one thing we haven't seen is
superstar coaches teaming up. I Rex Ryan to get the
DC gig in Denver? So bad, right? And I feel
bad because he I feel like, after like, what is
this like eight years now he's been on ESPN. He's
just finally coming into his own as an analyst. But
(32:14):
just think about you know, you have Sean Payton and
Rex Ryan on the same team, two really quotable guys.
I mean kids. You see after the second week, when
when the Denver offense is bad and Rex Ryan's defense
gives up thirteen points, they talked to Rex and he
was fellas all I can do is coach the defense.
I have nothing to do with the offense. And Sean
Pay what the hell is that supposed to mean? I
(32:35):
really I want I mean, just think about that. If
you have an error where you have a superstar head
coach and everybody's interested in a superstar defensive coordinator and
a superstar OC. Now Peyton's calling the plays everything, so
but just that, I mean, the superstar coach is teaming up.
It writes itself. I mean every week there would be
a story, the built in drama on the offensive side
of the ball. Well, the offense is finally playing good.
(32:57):
Now the defense isn't playing good. Oh wait, the defense
is playing good. The blame game of outsize personalities is
next level. Yes, I just don't want Rex back in
the NFL. I want him back or he's in a
superstar coach type situation. And this is what this is
why I really want this story to happen. What is
by showing up, it becomes that right because we've got
so much history. You get to go back into the
(33:18):
vaults of all his great quotes and quips from his
ESPN run, going back to the famous feat videos and yeah,
and all of that he had to say and try
to sell when he had all those quarterback issues. And
I'll just leave it there for to not rile up
too many fan bases there and bad bring up bad
memories for you. But the idea of him, you got
(33:42):
to mike him up like this is NFL film's dream.
I don't know if they do individual deals with coaches
and players, but I mean there's got to be something there, right,
Will you agree to be miked up at all times
on the sidelines and practice field and meeting rooms? Please? Please?
We could use the content, yeah, of course anything. I
want to hear Rex Ryan saying let's go get a
(34:03):
blank blank snack. I want to hear that again. Your
offensive side is really failing. Look what my defense has
been doing. We've been carrying you this whole game. And
then he and Sean Payton are fighting on the sideline. Oh,
I could just I could just after the second week fellas,
I can't. I can't control the offense. All he could
do is coach of defense. So basically, what you guys
are saying is Rex Ryan is cocaine bear. We really
(34:27):
try to get come full circle. That's what I got
out of this. No I'm getting I'm getting out of
it that that Sean Payton is kind of Frank Costanza.
I can only coach a defense. What the hell is
that supposed to mean? Well, I mean he did. He
was the head coach of the Bills. Think about it.
He might have a table hidden somewhere and then you're
gonna throw Peyton through the table. I mean, there's so
(34:49):
much that goes on with this, just fighting and licking
people's feats off. I mean just just okay, feats you
mean feats, Yeah, feats it No, feats is not it
is when you're on cocaine, you can probably have your own.
He's licking feats. It's too much cocaine. I think there's
(35:12):
some all these feats are here, but just I mean,
that's like the water in the middle. Blis he clawin
Russell Wilson, that era of superstar coaches teaming up. Oh
come on, man, it's so good. It's so good, especially
in a high profile situation like Denver with with already
built in drama of Wilson. Can he be any good?
Can Peyton? You know Salvage's career, it means it's fantastic.
(35:36):
It's front page news every day. If nothing else. We
can write fan fiction, fan fiction and yeah, it would
be called coaches. It would feats of fancy is what
we would call it. Look Out, he comes out the
ghost of Vince Lovarti. He's licking feet, He's going on around,
(36:00):
beats you Twitter and o't about a frescup Mike and
swallowing down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
