(00:21):
This is the best of the Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmen on Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
The Jason Smith Show with my bas friend Mike Harmon,
live from the tire iraq dot Com Studios tirac dot com. Well,

(00:42):
they'll help you get there. Unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers ti
irac dot com, the way tire buying should be. And
oh boy, do we have a day that the NFL said, Hey,
it's the combine. Now we got headlines. The NBA said, oh,
you think you got headlines. We got headlines. But I

(01:04):
would be remiss Mike Carmen if I hadn't begin by saying, so,
you know, sometimes I think certain things, Oh this is cute,
this is kind of adorable. You know, the whole The
Nets are New York's real team was really cute for
the last eighteen months, wasn't it, Because now that's over
as all those guys left town. Oh they took the
profit on their their short term bought homes and townhouses

(01:29):
and skip town m one of the big headlines of
the night in the NBA because there are a slew
of them. The Knicks just absolutely demolished the Nets one
forty two to one eighteen. Jalen Brunson the real MVP
thirty nine points, even though Josh Hart only had four.
The Knicks are still undefeated in the Josh Hart era.

(01:50):
The Knicks have now won seven a row. And again
I told you the Knicks were coming. I turn ber,
we hang a banner. Knicks beat Nets by twenty four.
That matter, right, No cradled twenty twenty and undefeated with
Josh Hart. You know, sometimes people need reminders of the
good points in their lives. I think everybody should have
a banner waiting for them when they go to their

(02:12):
coffee maker in the morning, maybe did the fridge, maybe
to the bathroom first thing in the morning, something that
tells them it's a good day to be alive, damn it.
And for the Knicks. If that means there's a Josh
Hart picture and his record right like he's a candidate
and all those Harry Potter movies where those things get
unfurled like magically, that's great. Uh So, yeah, a big

(02:35):
night to look the Knicks are now there. There could
be ten games over five hundred. I mean I told you,
I told Jalen Brunson. He doesn't get he doesn't get
nearly the credit he deserves. He's one of the best
free agent signings then I probably the best free agent
signing the Knicks have ever had at this point. Yeah,
well it doesn't meant tampering, schmampering. We still got him.
I don't care. We paid, and we paid money, had

(02:56):
a fine. Take a draft pick he cares. Doesn't matter. Look,
because if you're waiting, it's a draft picked at the
end of the first round and a guy that never
actually sees the core. What does it matter? We got
I mean, right now, are right the Mavericks going, oh,
maybe we should have done a little bit more to
keep Jalen Brooks And you think there was more week
could have done? Can we had given him more money.
They're gonna win any games with Kyrie Irvingcolm. But that's

(03:18):
a whole other just for another time. If the Knicks
keep this up, guys, people won't have a problem playing
for MSG plus. No, are you kidding the nine baby,
let's go listen. The Knicks are only ten games out
of first place. Look, they'll catch the Bucks in another
four or five years because the Bucks may never lose
a game because now they're at fifteen wins in a row,
so the Bucks don't lose. But you know, look, fifteen

(03:40):
in a row. I mean, look, the Bucks have just decided, Okay,
this was nice. Now we're getting hot and and and
clearly the beast of the NBA are in the Eastern
Conference and the Bucks. And this if the Bucks and
the Celtics and the Nuggets are probably the top three teams,
you get the Lakers the East. They'll we'll get to
the last yeah. Yeah, but talk about that. The Knicks

(04:00):
and making it through a loaded Eastern Conference, look at
it, it it just slicing through like their hold on camp.
We're just like I got machete's, I got butcher knives,
I got I got hooks, I got whatever you need.
It doesn't matter. I got everything. I can catch you.
I'll even kill you with a book like John Wicks.
Sorry spoiler alert you like that, Boban Bam bam, I'll

(04:20):
kill you in the book. That would be interesting. Yeah,
John Wick. Four more trailers, more promos flowing on the innerwebs. Yeah,
that went against Boston. That's a good one. Yeah, I'll
give you that one. Yeah, he played, he just got
he checked it. Yeah, Datum played, got followed, got complained,

(04:41):
and then eventually got himself Ejackeded Brown did not play
in that game, however, But that's fine. You got the
wins in a row. I'm not taking that away from you.
Trying to trumpet things here against the nets. This is
the one that I raised my hand going. You know,
they're they're emulating the great Tom Petty classic free falling
because they suck. Uh. As much as I like Cam

(05:02):
Johnson scoring thirty three on thirteen of eighteen, shooting Bridges
had a nice night, it doesn't matter. Uh, They're they're terrible.
So the record of thirty four and twenty eight, it
looks like a quality win, and that would have been
a quality win three weeks ago. Yeah, they're they're a
team that Okay, that record is great, but that the
prior regime makes it's a stat game. Now, Hey, big

(05:25):
night time, I'm gonna go for forty tonight if the
Nets it's a stat game. UH. Still know the other
night when we had those four games, you know, as
as we got into the week, that was the only
night of the NBA schedule all year that we didn't
have someone score thirty points. Bunco had twenty nine. Really,
I did not see that all season. The other was

(05:46):
that stat coming out of the the Sunday game between
the Lakers UH and the Mavericks, right one hundred you know,
leads of one hundred, one hundred thirty eight, No leads
of at least twenty seven points. That was in rest
of what the Lakers did. How are we not talking
more about the fact that they're up in one hundred
and thirty eight occasions by when someone at a lead
to twenty seven points. In the National Freaking Basketball Association,

(06:12):
Twitter it out about a fresca might gets swollen domb
at the end of your first year. Discover credit cards
automatically double all the cash back you've earned. That's right,
everything you weren't doubled. Seriously see terms. Check it out
for yourself discover dot com slash Match. So while Jalen
Brunson will be crawling up MVP ballots, he should be first.
The k D experience is underway in Phoenix. Yes, the

(06:36):
Hornets stink, there's nothing we can do about that. But
this was the first game too. Well. Yeah, and this
Hall brothers are on the shelf together. Hey, KD, when
do you think you want to make your debut? How
about against the worst possible team. I can't just because
I'm a little rusty, all right, the Hornets. It is
so the Suns beat the Hornets tonight. They roll over them.
Bat needed thirty seven steven and twenty three from Durant

(07:03):
to barely beat the Horns. Come on, Kevin fire okay,
hey won by fourteen Uh Kevin Durand's debut twenty three
points ten out of fifteen from the floor, He had
six rebounds and yes, the big night from Devin Booker
thirty seven points thirty seven. Shut up in the Sun's win.

(07:24):
This is what I told you and how I told
you this is going to happen. That the Suns were
just going to start beating teams. This is good. A
fourteen point win by the Suns over the course of
a few weeks is going to look like it was
a close game. The Sun trust me. Watch how quickly
the Sun didn't even play Jason Well he was the
morning was out. Jr. Reid was shot. There was running

(07:45):
red lights. Uh. Watch the Suns just start blowing teams
out regularly. Look, this is Kadie's first game. It's gonna
take him a little bit to get involved. But it's
not like he has to come in and be the
guy this. This is why this works so well, because
kds someone who It's all about where he is mentally

(08:06):
and how he comes in. Am I comfortable in this situation?
And he's comfortable coming in because he knows the Suns
couldn't win without me right there at the top of
the West, but they could never win without me. Now,
if I get here and win, I get the credit. Meanwhile,
I don't have to be Kevin Durant every single game.
I can pick my spots. I can still be a
top three player in the game when I'm focused, but

(08:29):
I don't need to do that because Number One, when
I'm in my mid thirties now, so it's gonna be
a little bit tougher to do on a regular basis.
So many nights I'm going to be able to default
to Booker and just my presence alone is going to
open things up. So there's gonna be nights like this
where this is what it is. Hey, KD, suddenly Devin
Bookers as a long way to shoots has really open

(08:50):
floor space. Look, he shot great tonight. He was fifteen
out of twenty six from the floor. Kevin Durant opens
up everything for the Suns and he doesn't have to
score thirty five a night. Once in a while he
will and it will be KD with a big night.
But this is what it's gonna look like. When KD
and Kyrie were healthy and they were on the floor together,
the Nets won games by thirty points regularly. I mean

(09:10):
they were they were barely on the floor, only played
twenty some odd games together. But when they were on
the floor, that's what they did. So this is going
to be a pretty quick assimilation for KD. Who's gonna
get in here and watch the Suns. I'm telling you
we're gonna get through. It's gonna be the Sons and
the Nuggets. Right who it's gonna be the Sun. Let's
go to the Western Conference Finals. Now, Suns Nuggets, Suns Nuggets.
You had three time MVP Nicola Yokich. You have KD

(09:32):
with the Sons now, and this is where we're gonna be.
You've already seen his impact and the Sons the new
energy they're gonna have. They feel like we're now a
team that can win the title and we're better equipped
to win than we ever were before. Even we thought
we were great. We thought Devin Booker is ascending and
eight and Paul and Paul's gonna be terrific. Chris Paul
scored two points tonight. He scored two points and it

(09:53):
didn't matter. They still one by fourteen. This is the
k D impact on this team. I can't even tell
you how quickly it's going to be in and we're
gonna watch and just with our mouths a gape, how
quickly and how decisively the Suns win games. I like
your excitement about this. And don't don't forget eight and
he was sixteen and sixteen on the night. You know, now,
since we named check the other three guys gotta give

(10:15):
the guy doing the dirty work down a little bit
of credit as you go through. You mentioned Chris Paul
one of eight from the field, oh for four from
three point range. Um, I want to see them in
a game that isn't a scrimmage, because that's really what
this was. Well, what do you always say, can't control
the schedule goes forward? Right, But but the point and

(10:37):
being is you're gonna say they're gonna run rough shot.
I will say that there will be a decided step
up in class unless they play one of the teams
from Texas or maybe the Pistons, let's add them to Yeah, Look,
this is this is where certain teams the trade deadline.
You know, it's hard to remake your team completely, which

(10:58):
is why at the trade deadline you have to be
bold pull it off. You know, well that well that's
the thing there, you have to be bold. Look, the
Lakers traded at traded away twelve players and they got
back fifteen new ones, So that that's a big bold move.
There's different ways to do it. There's changing a lot
of positions and bringing in new energy that way, or
there's bringing in a star player. I mean, there's a
couple of ways. To do it. There's there's the sly

(11:19):
ways that work, like, hey, Josh Hart, really he's gonna
help the Knicks, oh man, the Knick seven lost. But
but going to get a star is the easiest way
to do it because they feed off the energy. And
KD is still Kevin Durant. And as long as he
is on the floor, and you have to think that, Okay,
he had his big injury, he sat out a while,
He's got twenty some odd games into the playoffs. As
long as he is, okay, you are going to go through.

(11:41):
Now we've talked all this about about the Suns. Here's
the dark side for Phoenix, okay, And here's a dark
side for Kevin Durant. Like I said the other night
with Lebron, it felt like this is now the beginning
of the end of his career. Certain times, certain nights,
things happen. You go, this is the beginning of the end.
Last night we talked about Syracuse getting blown out by
Georgia Tech fourth time, seventeen plus points in one game.

(12:04):
That feels like the beginning of the end of Jim Beheim.
Whatever it's going to be one more year after this.
The same thing for Lebron James. It's the beginning of
the end. How many more games are gonna be able
to play? He can't stay healthy. The next time Kad
gets hurt, it's going to be okay. Now, we're just
looking at the beginning of the end, because Kevin Durant
has not been able to stay healthy since his toured Achilles,

(12:24):
and he's on and off the court, and you know,
you question about basketball and how much he loves it,
wants to play. But one more injury where he's out
and he misses a chunk of time where he misses
two three weeks, where he gets hurt beginning of the playoffs,
and he becomes someone where hey, we're watching the beginning
of the end of his career now because teams, teams
can't count on him, right, this is the last time
a team is going to count on Kevin Durant, and

(12:46):
he's got to make this at DJ He's got to
make this count. If that's the case. So as good
as things are for the Suns, that's just as big
a thing. This is the last time a team is
going to count on him, and he's got to make
sure I'm on the court and I'm here and I'm
through the rest of the season because if I get
hurt again and I missed big time and that's into
the playoffs, we get eliminated. No team is going to say, yes,
let's go get Kevin Durant, let's bring him in. We

(13:08):
can win a championship. It's gonna be yeah. I don't know, man,
We go out and get him, we spend some stuff,
we give him, and we don't know when he's gonna
be on the floor. This is a huge time for
kd Well. It's more of the asking price of what
he if. He's a hired gun that you know, you
can only count out so much. You know, as we
interestingly and curiously watch that Lakers final couple of minutes

(13:28):
tonight with arguments for one of their star players who
didn't play today, but with Kevin Durant, the larger picture
is is he the the additive right because you're like, well,
he'll get the respects, like, well, he didn't get it
in Golden State. Then he bounced, he bounced, and he
came here with a team that was the number one
seed a year ago. Does he get credit as just

(13:50):
all right, he's the icing on the proverbial cake or
the extra whip cream that you order when you go
get yourself an ice ice cream Sunday? Or is he
truly the guy that stirs the drink and that and
that's the debate for the ages that might be actually
more entertaining than me than any of the Lebron versus
Michael stuff. What is Kevin Durant did the larger picture

(14:12):
on hell of a player? But is he the substance?
Is he the meat on your plate? Or is he
a side dish? You know, the steamed asparagus, asparagus? I
like asparagus, asparagus, some nice Brussels sprouts with a lot
of parmers. You're there now, you're crazy? Are the Brussels sprouts?

(14:32):
You had? Me? An asparagus? You were fine? You know
I have repeated the PF Chang's green beans today. No, okay,
oh very nice. Okay, don't pull Mike's fingers. We're live
from the tirect dot com studios. Tirect dot com will
help you get their unmatched election fast free shipping. Free
road has a protection over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirect
dot com the way tire buying should be. So there

(14:55):
you are, there, there's the good and the difficult. I
want to say bad because but it's the good and
the re lady. For Kevin Durant, things are great. They're
gonna blow by teams, but if he gets hurt again,
teams aren't going to count on him again. It's just
that's how it goes. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. Finally Aaron Rodgers broke

(15:18):
his silence. He came out of the dark and spoke.
I keep thinking about that glorious Stefan song coming out
of the dark and finally see the lid now coming
out dark? Yeah, yeah, coming out of the finally see
the lid never former minority owners of the Dolphins, right,

(15:41):
well that was was her? Was Serena? Right? Yeah? The team? Yeah.
So Aaron Rodgers finally spoke out of the darkness. He
went on the Aubrey Marcus podcast. So draw your own
conclusion that either he's feuding and is never going to
talk to Pat McAfee again, or Pat McAfee's off. So
he goes on the Aubrey Marcus podcast, which I gotta

(16:03):
think there's something happening there, because why wouldn't he wait,
Why wouldn't he go talk? Free agency doesn't begin until
March fifteenth, Why wouldn't he wait and talk to Pat McAfee.
So can I give you the the first line of
the biography of Aubrey Marcus? Sure, go ahead. He's an experimentalist,
unconventional fitness junkie, and human optimizer. Oh that makes sense.

(16:26):
That's a thing, human optimizer. Evidently, that sounds like it's
the CEO of Wait a minute, wait, it's a guy.
Human optimizer sounds like the sounds like the guy they
go visit in a Transformers movie that's gonna turn a
person into a into an autobot. Well, I goes to
the human optimizer. What happens? He'll turn you into whatever
you want to What do you want to be? You

(16:46):
want to be you want to be a semi truck,
you want to be a sports car? What do you want?
He'll turn you into anything, the human optimized. I thought
it was a girls podcast. Aubrey Marcus. Aubrey, No, no, no no, no, no,
Aubrey Martin Hu Aubrey, Yeah, human optim Well, okay, he's
got he's got issues. But well but I'm just saying
there is precedence for the man. There is Aubrey, there is,
and that was, Uh, we have any other examples? No, no,

(17:09):
no, no no no, because what's your name? No no, no
wait wait at the camp's character was Aubrey and pitch perfect. Yeah,
but we were he was wondering if it was you know,
he came out out of the darkness and did a
favor for you know, Mallory Eden's friend or something named Off.
Now that's what I thought out of the darkness. No, no,
that would be just I'm on the Mallory Eden's podcast,
and that would be I would go straight to that.

(17:30):
There's gonna be there's no waiting to try to figure
that out. Alright. He goes on the Easy a Legend,
he goes on the Aubrey Mark Frostburg is just happy
because the Lakers had their biggest I was gonna say,
he is happy. He had a night off, So happy anniversary, congratulations,
Oh thank you, Mike, and you came back all positive

(17:50):
and yeah, the Lakers two in a row. Life is good.
Frostburg said to me before the show. I'm never taking
off again. I take off one night in the King's
Trade Jonathan Quick. I'm never taking a night off to
damn business. Never person Rogers too soon. I love how
Jathan was just a cut Yeah, but prosper let's think

(18:12):
about the day that was. It was Kane going to
the Rangers like, yeah, no, he's too busy with politics,
Patrick Kane. Yeah so Patrick Kane Jonathan Quick. But those
were two guys that are in intertwined in NHL history forever.
If not for Patrick Kane, the Kings would have had

(18:34):
like seven Stanley Cups. Let's just dump Jonathan Quick are
two time Stanley Cup winning goalie. Just dump them and
not even tell him when we're gonna treat you know what,
It was the right move real quick. I mean, the
Kings are good, fine, but you got to treat a
guy that's done that to a little bit better and
prepare him for the tricks for the cups. Beat it.

(18:55):
That's kind of what I said yesterday as it happened.
Prosper a most formating them. So Aaron Rodgers speaks and
he talked about his future, and he said that a
decision is coming well somewhat quickly. There's a finality to
the decision, and I don't make it lightly. I don't
want to drag anybody around. Look, I'm answering questions about

(19:17):
it because I get asked about it. I'm talking about
it because it's important to me. If you don't like
it and you think it's drama, I think I'm being
a diva or whatever, then just tune it out. That's fine.
But this is my life. It's important to me, and
I'll make a decision soon enough, and then we'll go
down that road. Be really excited about it. Why is

(19:40):
he whispering on this podcast? Is there a podcast where
it's hey, we're just going to talk like this and
there's going to be no energy. Is he in a
retirement home and he got yelled at by the guy
on the other side of the wall bank and I,
you're too loud. It sounds like his eyes were burning,
like the sun was out or something. I have my
eyes closed and I'm sitting here in a complete sensory
deprivation chamber doing a podcast with you. That's what I'm doing.

(20:02):
I'm just wearing really dark glasses right now. We're not
talking loud, We're just talking, and I'm talking about the few.
In fact, I'm not even speaking. Look at me. I'm
not even moving my mouth. I am making you hear
me by using just my mind. That's what I learned
in the darkness or treat you don't have to speak.
Speaking is overrated. Now if that's the truth, man, then
then I need to go to Guatemala. Like I was

(20:23):
telling you, guys, can just go to Oregon instead. You know,
it's a lot cheaper, Mike, But I've been to Oregon before.
I need to check something else off on the on
the list of places, Oh the places you'll go. I'm
not just embracing my weirdness. I am enveloping myself in
it like it's a cloak, and I'm just going to
be weird all the way to the end of it.

(20:45):
So what does a show though, If you don't like him,
don't watch, you know, and listen. I's right. Look. Look,
first of all, you gotta call him a diva and
a drop, yes, because that's exactly what he is. But
what does this mean? Decision is coming soon? This is
very simple. This is not Aaron Rodgers on some existential
retreat like he would like you to believe. This is

(21:06):
not him. I look at my future in the shapes
of the rocks, that are in front of me, right,
I got tarot cards in front of me. Oh my goodness,
it's the Ace of Spades, the death card. No, what
he's saying is, hey, decision is coming and all of
these things I need to look at in my life.
I need to be at peace. Meanwhile, what's going on
is that it's okay. Can I get to a destination

(21:27):
that is good enough for me? That's all that's happening
right now, because it's clear the packers do not want
him back. That is the number one thing you can
take away from the last few days. Returning to the
Packers looks like it is off the table. The packers
have talked about moving on. They've said, we don't know
what's happening yet. Maybe Aaron Rodgers gonna stick us with

(21:48):
having to figure things out. But it is clear the
packers have made their intentions known. We would rather you
not come back. We are ready to move on. So
now the decision is the Jets are nobody right, that's
gonna that's gonna be what this is what I'm afraid
it's gonna come. Well. I think the Jets are gonna
wind up with Geno Smith at the end because it's
gonna come to Aaron Rodgers, who's gonna want to play,
and they're gonna say where can we go? And the

(22:08):
package gonna say, hey, we have a deal with the Jets.
They're gonna give us a first round pick and something else.
We figured out the money. You're going to the Jets.
What about the Raiders not interested? What about some other
teams not and what about Nashville not interested? Oh okay,
so it's the Jets or nobody. Yes, m I may
have to pick nobody. That's my big fear that that's
what it's gonna come out to be. Because right now
he's trying to figure out can I get to a

(22:29):
destination that I will be happy at that I can
play in the next year or two and potentially win
or at least not embarrass myself. I want to try
to see if I can win, but I don't want
to fall off the cliff and be like, oh now,
everybody's got to get out of my contract after this year.
That's what's happening right now. This is what this is
what all the silence has been, and all the silence
we're getting. Aaron Rodgers doesn't want to ever seem like

(22:51):
he's desperate. You know what, it seems like I'm hanging
out here to try to figure something out. No, what's
going on behind closed doors is can we get you
someplace where you're going to be happy? Because in Aaron
Rodgers trade will happen quickly. It's not gonna be hey,
here's a report and here's some negotiation. It's gonna be boom.
Aaron Rodgers traded to Jets. Aaron Rodgers traded here. That's

(23:12):
what's going to happen because it's gonna he's not gonna
seem like I may not be as sought after as
I wanted to. That's what all of this is about.
Right now, Can I get to a destination where I
want to? And if I can, great, I'll still play.
And if you're telling me it's the Jets or nobody,
I got some thinking to do because I'm telling you, man,
if it's the Jets or nobody, I could just say, oh,
the Jets are running unopposed, and they'll find a way

(23:33):
to lose, and we're gonna get Geno Smith. They will
find a way. If it's the Jets or nobody, they
will find a way to lose this and it's gonna
be nobody. I can see it. I can see it,
Mike Harmon, I see it. I don't even need to
be I could see it in the middle of a
darkness room with the lights off and a blindfold over
my eyes, twenty thousand feet underground. I could see it happening. Yeah,
I see. You saw the report of New Orleans bringing

(23:55):
the beignets and gumbo and jambalai and everything to Indianapolis
for Derek Carr, So maybe you don't even get that one.
For Rogers, he does hold the cards in this one, though.
He can make this as easier or as painful for
the Packers as he wants. And for him it's say,
all right, how do I want this to go? And
he gets to exercise that. What the money considerations are?

(24:19):
All of those things the Packers, I think, in their
press availability, most of which was done to the local media,
they did a good job of kind of laying it
out of You know, Jordan Love, it's time for him,
he needs to play. But there's that in Green Bay
or somewhere else. They still left it to where get
some wiggle room and some weasel words. As our buddy

(24:42):
Ben Maller would say along, because he uses that in
conversation with us, well like every other week when we
see him, but with the idea that you know, Rogers
just he doesn't want to drag this out because it's
not good for the energy that he's trying to go
as if we look to the optimizer, you want to
optimize your living and having this hanging in the balance

(25:04):
is not good for your energy. Man, it's just not
see what I did. I bought into the optimization of
his life and compartmentalization, So good for him. It's gonna
be the Jets or nobody that's gonna say, hey, this
will I think it's the Jets or nobody. He either
comes to some eleven hour deal with the packers because

(25:27):
they've been moving money around for all these other guys.
There's that sliver that he just says, I'm going to
walk the earth because he is that kind of guy
and he can go work for on it. O double

(25:50):
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. The NFL players
Association on Wednesday released what it describes as Free Agency
Report CARS for all thirty two teams. What does this mean?
Is this like how good teams do in free accy? No? No, no,
This is the results of a player survey on topics
that range from quality of team facilities, treatment of player families.

(26:14):
So basically, what it is is that, hey, what teams
treat you the best when you're looking for a new team? Like,
what teams do it right? What teams treat have the
best facilities? What teams treat players families the right way?
And this is a huge deal and I can't believe
we haven't seen this more before, and because this is
something that would shape many people's decisions. Who's at the top? What? Hey,

(26:39):
what teams are the most family friendly and player friendly?
Who treats their free agents when they come from from
a different situation, Who treats them the best? The three
top ranked teams overall in order, the Minnesota Vikings, the
Miami Dolphins, and the lots that treat your team the best?

(27:00):
That's the best. I show the whole list. It's eye opening.
The Vikings, the Dolphins, and the Raiders. Okay, those are
three teams that treat people about. Well, all the Raiders
have to do is take you down the Vegas Strip
and they're gonna go Is this all stuff you offer
as a team. No, we're just here in Vegas. Don't
you want to come here? Oh yeah, that's true. We
don't offer anything. We don't have we don't even practice,

(27:23):
we don't have any of that. We don't have a
field or anything. Just show up for the game on Sunday.
Just do whatever you want. We'll give you a stipend
for for Vegas for for the rest of the season.
It's all good. Really, Yeah, yeah, I'm taking a show.
Do all this stuff. It's great. But but what about
like like training table and what about like the cafeteria. Yeah,
we have any of that. We just give you money.
Go do whatever you want. Show up for the game

(27:43):
on Sunday. Hey, we'll play in away game. We fly
out on Friday though, Okay, so just make sure you're
there for the playing on Friday. Everything else, we don't care.
We're Vegas. Yeah. Both the Dolphins and Raiders also hold
up sign saying you get to keep eight to ten
percent of the salary. There's no state income tax here.
Come on in the Water's fight, because there's been a
lot of complaining about that up in New York State

(28:05):
again by potential free agents looking to get the to
maximize their dollars. The bottom three teams, now, so those
are the top three teams. Who treats you the best?
The Vikings, the Dolphins, and the Raiders. The bottom three Jets, No,
the Chargers, the Cardinals, and the Commanders. The Commander's ranking

(28:27):
dead last in how well they do free agency. The
Cardinal of these player families charges were thirtieth, Cardinals thirty first,
Commanders thirty second. They treat me pretty well. Well, that's
They also hold up a big sign saying a third
of your check has already been taken out. Yeah yeah, hey,

(28:49):
and Justin Frostburg works for them. Oh well, hey, I
gotta put them down on. So Chargers, Cardinals, and the
Commanders at the bottom. And there's so many things that
go into this. It's player health and safety. There's facilities
and practice fields, and it's everything that you would want
to know about if you're taking a free agent tour.
What am I gonna like? It's not always about that.

(29:11):
I mean, look, you want to get paid, and if
if there's a team that has great facilities and they're
gonna pay you twenty five million dollars. There's a team
with okay facilities that that is just all right, and
they want to pay you fifty million dollars. Okay, yeah,
you're still going to the one that's gonna pay you
fifty million dollars. But if it's close, if it's some boy,
I could see myself here. I could see myself here.
Look at how well they do it. It's just like

(29:32):
any other job when you're looking to jump. Hey, you know,
I got an interview at this place I don't know.
And you walk in and you have your interview and
they want to offer you the job, and you're wowed.
They take you around a tour of the facilities, they
take you out to lunch, and they show you all
the different things can happen. I mean, that's what you want,
and you want to go to a company that does
things because it's your life. You make a bad decision,
this holds your career back. The same thing for the NFL.

(29:54):
So I can't believe this isn't something that's been around
for so long that we haven't hurt, heard about or
talked about more than than it is right now, because
this is a big deal that you wonder people are
saying right now, wait, whoa the Vikings? WHOA the Vikings?
Well maybe I gotta go see the Vikings. Now maybe
they weren't on my list, but now they're on my
list because they supposedly do everything right when it comes
to all these different things which we're gonna get into

(30:15):
in a second. But that's how that's how big a
deal this is. This is something like the Vikings can
put on on a on a brochure and go, hey,
come here, we're the number one rated team for free agents. Well,
it's like a vacation um destination that is voted number
one by on Airbnb, and you you print that up
and put that in advertisement, say number one destination on Airbnb,

(30:40):
this resort, this place. That's a really big deal. And
now the teams that do it well are going to
get more interest from players, and the teams that don't
may get less interest. Now and say, well, now we
gotta gave them extra money because they're not gonna come
play for us because we were rated at the very bot.
You're putting way too much stock in this though, just
has another data point, well, how much it affects. Look

(31:02):
because behind the scenes, I mean this has been done
informally by players talking to each other forever quote tampering
of it all, and hey, what's that place like at all?
I mean it's nice to get some quantification of it.
You got treatment of families, nutrition, weight room, strength staff,
training room, training staff, locker room, and travel are the

(31:26):
categories that are in the piece here put out NFLPA
dot com and you can go through and sort by
each and see where your beloved teams rank. So I
think that's that's kind of cool. I'd love to see
the comment cards that went with it, because you do
have is a level of specificity with some of it

(31:46):
that came out. For instance, on the downside, when we
talk about the Arizona Cardinals that they don't have enough trainers. Yeah,
like just flat out we don't have enough people in
the room to help with the process, right, some teams,
and this goes to the raven and you know I
went about with the chargers charges out a C minus
on the training staff side of things. Well, now they've

(32:07):
seen some changes, whether whatever spurned that on. They put
that sea up in the window. Like when you go
to a restaurant. Well, you gotta see, I'm not eating here.
See like the bear not eating here. Maybe they have
to do that. Maybe these teams have to put the
have to put it up in the window of their facility.
Here're sorry, here's sorry. Overall great, we got to see.
Is a be stopping you from eating somewhere? Uh? In

(32:29):
the beginning, it did, it really did, but now not
even Oh sure, I'm like, well, why do you have
a bee? Why? And you see what the reasons are.
It's like, oh, those rat droppings or something else. Generally
that's at a place where they most of the food
is fried, so you let it go. Yeah, but it's
I mean, but at subway it's not even real. It's
a little bit like no, I actually don't, don't. I
made a nice tuna noodle castrole today. By the way, listen,

(32:50):
subway subway is subway club or the rotisserie Chicken. That's
that's where I go at subway. Man, I had a
subway club last night, I don't doubt it. They loaded
with mayonnaise too. Oh it's so good. I really couldn't
tell you the last time I ate a sandwich. That's
so here's some of the things that mark some teams

(33:11):
down right. Three of the league's thirty two teams don't
keep their cafeterias open for dinner. I mean, this is
the National Football League where Hey, I'm hungry. I'm here
watching film. Oh yeah, sorrybody's gone home. Can I get
any food? Nope, got to order out dollars And we
got a guy that any any sandwich shop you need?

(33:32):
Did it say what team that was? I was a
freshman in high school and I could get in college
and I could get food anytime I wanted to. I'm
not played for a professional football team, and the cafeteria
is not open for dinner. If I don't get there
by three o'clock, I can't eat. The sas to Cardinals
and Well, to nobody's surprises, the Bengals, Jason, you can
never play for an NFL team. If that's the case,

(33:54):
Oh no, I'm done, man. I'm like, I'm not getting
up from hunger. By the time I got up and
got in at noon, they would be ready to close.
I'm like, nah, I'm sorry, I can't. Yeah, but how
do you like this from the Bidwells. According to the report,
they're willing to box dinner in season, but they charge
box the payroll deduction. We're gonna box and they also
charge you for offseason meals. What team was this? That

(34:17):
was Arizona? This is the Cardinals. And you wonder why
the Cardinals can't win and people don't want to be
like Kyler Murray tells you to go plague yourself. Yeah.
In the weight room, uneven floors and peeling floorboards also
attributed to the garden a lot of Wow, they got
a lot of problems. You know what bid Bidwell got

(34:39):
his revenue share. He didn't give a lot of FSN.
There's no state tax there. Yeah, now there's that. Uh.
The teams that really take it in the teeth right now,
the Cardinals and the Bengals because a lot of these
things like well the Bengals, of course, the Bengals don't
provide nutritional supplements, no traditional supplements. Can I a vitamin? No?

(35:01):
Can I get a vegetable? No? They close the window
on you. No, leave you can't. But wait, but I'm here.
Don't you want me to be at my best? You
go to GNC like Alex tischert does it get your
own stuff? Okay, you go offensive line is weak. Yeah, hey,
we got nutritional supplements. No way, man, come on with
you guys. Why Joe Burrow gets sacked a thousand pounds

(35:21):
this season? Wait, let's see where they're at in the
weight room. How come the offensive lineman only bench press
like seventy five pounds a piece on they eat the supplements? Man,
they don't have any nutritional supplements. You don't Why the
Chargers one Mike's aorry real quick. The Chargers two f's
are are erroneous. Okay, well what are they f because
they that's not even their facility they just rented because

(35:42):
they're building their facility. They're two fs are for Frostburg.
Well yeah, not enough. Plus what was it nutrition and
training room? Yeah uh so that dozz will change once
they move into their new facility. So yeah. The Jaguars
also have a lot of difficulty because they had a

(36:03):
rodent problem during the season. Okay, there's a rat infestation
in the locker room and laundry hampers. Hey, if you
can help that out with just you see the next day,
like interns are breaking in snakes and let them loose
in the locker room. Wait, what's going on here? Well,
we got some pythons either take care of the rats.
Whoa wo wo wo. Why is there a gator in

(36:24):
the jacuzzi? Then we got to bring in the gator
to take care of these snakes. They just keep bringing
in bigger apex predators to take care of what's going on.
You know what, Now there's just the cocaine bear and
it just cleans it all out. Right. Hey, the bear
is the last one we bring in. Man, you know
we're bringing the cocaine bear and that's the last it's cleaning.
You guys have one more, one more opportunity to clean

(36:44):
this upper. You know where we're going. We're tapping the
elbow to get the closer. Really amazed me. Where they
how do you get an F for travel? Well, because
they don't. Uh, I'll let their players fly first class?
What does that even mean? Means? Like if I if
they're all chartered flights, aren't they if I'm not not
all of them? Not all of them? Or it could

(37:06):
not none of commercials, Yes they all are, no, no, no,
but it could be where if a player is flying
a different day or they're flying someplace else, Hey, they're
going to be Well, that doesn't happen in the NFL,
you have to every every team member has to be
on the plane. Yeah, but they want that, you know,
if you're if I'm flying someplace else, that you're paying
for the flight for me. Whether it could be Hey,
there's a big um. You know, one of the players

(37:27):
is having a justin Herbert's having a football camp. So
I'm flying out. Yes, the Chargers will fly you out there,
but we're not going to fly you out in But
it's not so that's not in season but lane service.
I think that stuff right, But this is all things
that happen that when you may need to fly, they

(37:48):
don't fly you first class. So that that that's that's
what it is. It's not it's not the it's not
that not stop the jack could be the plane. It
could be a chartered plane where it's all like god
seats no exactly right that. I think it's probably a
comfort and amenities on said plane. Hey know, I could

(38:08):
get was a fourteen seater. We got fifty three guys
on this plane and coaches dack it up, baby, let's go.
I just know on the charter and I mean I
gotta I gotta beg them to stop feeding me. Oh man,
it's like you're going to Europe. The only other thing
that was worse for the Jaguars was that they got
a worse grade than the D minus because of the
rats was for family treatment because they're one of fourteen

(38:32):
teams that don't offer a family room and players' wives
breastfeed their kids on the floor of the stadium's public restaurans.
I mean really, so you could walk into a public
restauran going, oh, that's wait, wait, there's Trevor Lawrence's wife.
What is happening here? I mean, really, you're you're breastfeeding
your kid on the floor of a public restroom in

(38:52):
the stadium. You don't have a you don't have a
room where they could go. Did go do that? Really?
You know? I mean it's Jacksonville. There's a lot of space.
There's a lot of space you could do that with.
But we're on the floor, like Kevin James's wife and
grown ups. Uh. The Jaguar is also one of eleven
teams that don't provide daycare at the stadium, so when

(39:12):
you come to the game, it's hey, can make you
go watch a kid? Yeah, well, but they don't watch
them for you though. There's probably. You know they don't
have a personalized lifeguard. Well how about you stop bringing
sand to the beach. I mean, it's really, it's it's
it's this is so eye opening for anybody who's looking
for a destination. Oh well, they don't do this. They
don't do that because you know, look, anytime you travel,

(39:34):
you go someplace, you like amenities. Man, I like amenities.
Everybody likes amenities, and there's no amenities here. Not everybody
got CBD rubdowns. Okay, you gonna say we were in
Vegas five minutes. It's like, yeah, I'm eating and I'm
gonna go get my massage schedules. Hey, listen, those women
were a little afraid. And how aggressively you stormed the
capsule there. Yeah, let's just say it ended like a

(39:56):
Disney movie. Oh man, I mean this is I open this.
I can't tell you what a big deal this report
is for players, and now it's going to affect free
agency tact. Free agency begins and guys sign away from
these squads at the bottom. We really need to make
an effort. We don't. We don't do a lot of
random interviews on this show, but this requires it. So
what was the number one reason you left, outside of

(40:18):
the giant check you're getting from the other team. Give
me your top three things that you hated about the
Plan of Cardinals
