(00:21):
irac dot com. The way tire buying should be. Well,
let's see, how is my weekend? You asked, I'm glad
you asked. Let's see. The Knicks are a top five
team in the NBA. The Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers.
It's exciting, Mike Carmen, Jets really want Aaron Rodgers. Oh no,
we're getting Aaron Rodgers. We're getting after the News today,
We're getting Aaron roy After the Derek car News today.
(00:42):
We're getting Aaron Rodgers. We're getting Aaron Rodgers. Either that
or things are going really south for your building squad quickly.
All right, well listen because you no longer can get
the other guy back. Knowing all of these things swirling
around have either made it for the best of times
or the worst of times. Thank you, Sidney Carton. I
appreciate you. Well, you know what, sometimes I gotta take
(01:04):
it into the harsh reality that it is. Wait, ty shirt,
Sidney Carton. You know who that is, Sydney Carton. She's
the inventor of the milk Carton right, yes, very good. Yes,
And also then later on Carnation h milk really yeah,
yeah yeah, beverage yeah yeah yeah, yeah, that's good. That's good.
You know, wow, that's pretty good. Time you went to
school and I did, thank you. It's nice. Well he
slept at he didn't sleep here, Sydney Carton, he has
(01:28):
a show on Fox. Uh. Derek Carr becomes a saint today,
not in the metaphorical terms, but in the physical terms.
They really rushed that process is through the yes, through
the councils and everybody in the church to make him
the same four years eight hundred million dollars or four years,
one hundred and fifty million dollars, Derek Carr is a saint. Right,
(01:50):
we'll get to the Derek carrs the same part, because
this is where you know that the Jets are getting
Aaron Rodgers. Well not necessarily all right, well, yes, okay,
there is okay, there is the possibility for it to
all go sideways. For the Jets because it's the Jets.
But but indecision, here's aloud my vision. No, I don't know.
Here's the thing, the Jets. We talked about this last
(02:11):
week as much as it was Ah the Jets. The
Jets are the leaders in the clubhouse for a clubhouse
for a quarterback, because they're the team that needs a
quarterback that is most ready to win. They have a
great defense, I have enough weapons on offense. I have
good running backs and good receivers. They're the team everybody loves,
Robert Sala, the culture, Joe Douglas, They're the team Derek
Carr really insured. The Jets had him in a couple
of times they talked to him. Derek Carr was leaning Jets,
(02:33):
but Saints. The fact that Derek Carr goes to the
Saints tells me the Jets new we are getting Aaron Rodgers.
They're not gonna lose their top two choices, all right. Meanwhile, again,
Jets could still all go wrong. Just keep Jets. But
I want to think positively, were the Jets really going
(02:55):
to allow Derek Carr to sign with the Saints if
they didn't know they were gonna get Rogers. Because there's
no way. They're sitting around going anybody calls from Green Bay, Nope, anything, Nope,
Rogers going on MacFee tomorrow. I don't know. They just
said anything. No, he's not in the dark, right, No,
what are we gonna do? I don't know. Let's wait.
I mean, that's not how it's done, right They No,
they know that he is going to come, and it's
(03:16):
just have to figure out what the compensation is going
to be and how much money is going to be
eaten by the packers, because that'll be more compensation for
the for them versus if it's total compensation, it's less
for the Jets. But the Jets are not gonna Derek
Carr to the Saints wasn't going to happen unless they
knew they were getting Aaron Rodgers. I will be stunned again, Jets.
(03:38):
I will be stunned if the Jets don't wind up
with Aaron Rodgers out of this. And when I saw
that headline today, I said, hey, number one, I'm excited
because we didn't get Derek Carr. So I was feeling
great about it. Gino Smith resigned with the Seahawks Knights
at all. That was my big fear and my big
thing was they we're gonna get Geno Smith. All that's gone,
Mike Carmen. It's the Jets and Aaron Rodgers. And unless
(03:59):
Aaron Rodgers decide in his Jets or Nobody decision, I'm
picking nobody. The Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers. I feel
great about it. I dig the excitement in your voice,
and I'd love to bowl straight, but I'm not gonna
because you just want to be a jerk. That's what
do you just want to be? No? Look, man, we
take a three sixty view here, right, we spin all
(04:20):
the way around and get back to where I think
I've been spinning her since I knews. I've been spinning
around like a tile. That's also the sugar you've been ingesting.
It's got you gotta bouncing around. But when we look
at the car signing, go back to the original flirtations
with New Orleans while he was still a member of
the Raiders, Right, A lot of the question was the
(04:41):
was it a good fit? Was he had me there?
I thought, and we talked about it at the time.
It's like, why why is he going to help the Raiders?
And we can do him if he's gonna go there,
so this may have been a top choice. Also from
a winning perspective. Pretty good opportunity, right, You got to
figure out some of the permutations of the skill position players.
(05:04):
Michael Thomas seemed happy by it, so that's good. So
maybe he wants to play football. Yeah, so that'd be good.
Alvin Kamara, we don't know what's happening and suspensions whatever else.
Olave is a stud. You gotta work on the old line.
But the defense is ready to play and the division stinks.
So from a I'm making decision about my future, including one,
(05:24):
the narrative is that I can't win because I haven't
in my nine years. As much as I may like
going to New York and trying to try that accent on,
you go down to New Orleans. He can keep the accent. Yeah,
but now he's our guy from Nights Out. Yeah, now
I suspect foul play. I'm excited to be here in
(05:46):
New Orleans with the team. It's fantastic, I'll suspect. So
perhaps that was a really strong offer, and we look
at the money and the money's great. It was a
donut inside out of another donut who was a hole
inside of the donut hole. And so when I saw
the donut hole was filled with money from the Saints,
(06:06):
I decided to take that donut hole un because inside
that a donut hole is even more donut holes, which
is more money, which is more Saints. And then he yelled,
a woman can't bake worth it anyway. There you got
a movie reference, Hux. But maybe he didn't want to
wait around for the Jets who were waiting around for
Aaron Rodgers if they can't. Yeah, but that's that's where
I'm at with it is. Yeah, he didn't want to
(06:28):
go into the next phase. And we talked about some
sense of urgency before this this set of circumstance, because
I think as we went into the weekend, you were
somewhat dejected, knowing that your most likely options were car
or Gino. Yeah yeah, returning, oh yeah yeah right, and
then the next one and then you get a yeah,
(06:48):
you get a double up. Now now it can be
okay watching Derek Carr fold under pressure, not on my team. Boy,
he looks he doesn't look like the same quarterback after
getting hit a couple of times in this game. Nope,
sure doesn't. Jim, Jim, you know a car when he
hit him. He does he's not accurate, Jim. You know
Joey Bosa says this all the time on Twitter, Jim
that if you hit him, he's not he's not as good. Jim.
Did you know this, Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim. Well, now
(07:09):
he's in the NFC, so Roma doesn't even get to
see him that communion. He'll still be in front. You
can still do the impressions if he were watching it
better than he is, Jim. But the Rogers thing is
fascinating right as to whether he stays in Green Bay,
goes to your Jets mystery team not named the Whiteside,
or he retires. No, well, look now it's it's becoming
(07:31):
pretty clear that there are three choices and only one
involves a different team because it's the Packers, it's retiring,
it's the Jets. Right, None of all the teams that
would be in on Aaron Rodgers would have talked about it,
would have called, would have done something. So you know,
it's getting to the point where, okay, the Jets are
the only team, Like we're the ones that you know,
the Panthers kind of called, but the Jets are the
(07:52):
ones that said hey, we're interested in you're trading Rogers
away from the NFC, all right, So that's that's another thing.
And I would agree with you if this was something
that was equal. But for the Jets, if they thought
for a second they weren't going to get Aaron Rodgers
or the reception from Camp Rodgers because you know, you
know they've been communicating, you know, that's been going on,
(08:13):
and Rodgers not like just in the darkness not telling
anybody anything. The Jets know, if they got to know, hey,
I'm not coming, there's no way they would have pounced
on Derek. Okay, we got to move on here because
we're getting the sense we're not getting Aaron Rodgers, and
the last and the Jets want to do is be
seen as a team that we're not getting our choices.
So they would have gone to Derek Carr. They would
have given him a lot of money and it would
have been but instead, oh, okay, we are letting Derek
(08:37):
Carr go. He is signing because we are going to
get Aaron Rodgers. Now. It's a great move for Derek
car because I told you he had to do it
before free agency began, because he's running unopposed. Right now,
once you get to free agency and other guys are involved,
suddenly you're not as attractive. So he does a great job,
I said, I said all along, he's got to do
it before free agency starts, and he does it, and
so much for it's a long process. He's gonna sit
(08:59):
back and take it. Maybe they listen to me and said, hey, okay,
so you can give me three percent of that money.
But for the Jets to get to that point of okay,
we have to make a decision. And it's really dangerous
if we go all in on Rogers and we don't
get them, because now we're looking at what Tannehill, will
you take our money? Garoppolo who can't make it through
a season, will you take our money? Somebody else? Will
(09:21):
you take our Gardner Minshew, will you take our money?
And it looks awful, well, but you know, my I
had proffered this thought and it started to become a
thing that snowballed a little bit over the course of
the day. And it's something we had talked about a
bit last week as related to the other quarterback potentially
in play in Lamar Jackson. Right, because the countdown for
making a decision on him. We're getting to eleventh hours.
(09:43):
Oh yeah, yeah. Was the idea that you take the
unrestricted franchise dang right, and you allow him to go
into the marketplace, go find your deal, and then you
get compensation. Jets, I would like you know what I
want to speak to. But we talked about it as
(10:03):
an option because for the Ravens, I mean that is
and it's and it's gaining some popularity now as we
get because we always just say all right, well, they're
gonna franchise tag him, like well, no, there's multiple types
of franchise tags is the thing, and this one make
sure you don't just lose him well, because you're gonna
(10:24):
you can trade for him, but here you definitely get
two first round picks, and you get to see what
the marketplace is because maybe some other team offers the
two fifty or whatever guaranteed he wants, maybe they don't.
And now you're playing poker, and this is the all right,
we'll call the bluff. Go see what you can get
in the marketplace, and then you have the right to
(10:44):
match it. Hey, hey, for you to I'd love for
that to happen. But I could just see the Jets,
screwing that ball you want Lamar Jackson don't want me now,
screw it. I'm gonna go to the Raiders. I'm gonna
sign for none. I mean, I would love to see that.
I would love to see that, but it's small. But
the Jets seem too far down the road with Aaron
Rodgers to suddenly pivot to that. Now. I'm sure, Hey,
(11:04):
if they don't get Rogers, what's their Plan B? And
they have a Plan B of something? Hope that yeah,
well yeah, because I look at the other guys out there,
it's okay. This Plan B is nothing. Mike White and
Zach Will not good man, It's not good now. And
unless Aaron Rodgers, which it is the Jets, so I
could see disaster because it lurks around every corner. No,
(11:26):
I'm retiring. You're turning down sixty million dollars? Yes, why
because it was the Jets or nothing? And I'm picking nothing,
or I'm gonna stay in Green Bay? Why they don't
want you there? But I really don't want to go
with the Jets, So I'm gonna stay in Green Bay.
Who's pushing me out? Because that's the other thing is
four is three choices of Okay, it's retiring, there's too
much money on the table. Doesn't sound like a guy
that's done playing number two. The Packers are pushing him out.
(11:50):
Everything we've seen, Hey, we're going forward where this we've heard.
We've heard a lot of reports that the Packers are
ready to move on from him. So it's the Jets
or nobody. I mean, it comes to it's gonna be
the Jets or no. And if you want to play,
you play with the Jets. It's kind of how it works.
I mean, it may not be your number one choice,
but everybody doesn't get to pick that. And I know
we probably thought, well, I'm gonna be able to get
into free AGC and I'll have my pick of teams
(12:10):
and maybe I'll go to the Raiders, maybe I'll go.
Hear him, I go. But it's gonna turn out to be. Hey,
when you make a lot of money and you're an
older player, as Tom Brady showed you, that's one thing
you should have seen because if you want to follow
that Brady principle of I play with one team my
whole career, I really want to see what the what
the what the grass is like on the other side
of the street. I really want to see that, and
Brady showed me that you can do that. Brady also
(12:30):
showed you that when you become a free agent, there
are very few teams that are interested in you because
of your age and your money and what's going to happen.
Who was really in on Brady? The Bucks were all
the way in, the Chargers were someone in. Who's gonna
be in on Aaron Rodgers? The Jets are gonna be
all the way in? And maybe a team like the Panthers,
somebody is kind of kind of part way answer. So
that's going to be it, and when you can trade
him to the AFC. Really, I'm feeling great that Aaron
(12:51):
Rodgers is good. He's gonna change one shade of green
for another. And my Twitter avatar, I actually I replace
it with Julius Randall after you hit that Big three,
But the ravatar of Aaron Rodgers being set being a jet,
it's gonna happen. Like I feel better about it than
I ever have, that Aaron Rodgers is going to be
a jet. It's good that you invoked Brady tune because
you know the rumors coming out of Indianapolis not like
(13:12):
we foretold that in the Coady Brady might not be done.
No Brady could come back again all he I'm retired.
Leave me a loan tour didn't last as long as

(15:45):
Derek Carr who winds up a saint today. And you
know Aaron Rodgers will be honest waiting the Jet soon.
Geno s takes me out of the And now you
know I had accepted the fact that the Jets were
gonna reacquire Gino Smith, it would be the most Jets
thing ever. Yeah, let's get a guy we cut a
bunch of years ago that couldn't stay the starting quarterback
(16:05):
and give him one hundred million dollars. Nope, Ah, the
Seahawks figure that out for me. We're gonna give him
three years and one hundred million dollars. And they structured
it to give him a lot of money in the
first year Gino Smith is now a Seattle Seahawk and
these two signings today should tell you something about the NFL,
and it should tell you a huge thing that teams
(16:27):
and fans still want to not believe. They don't want
to believe it. They want to walk away from Go. Well,
I wouldn't give Derek Carr that money. Well I wouldn't
give Gino Smith that money. Okay, Yeah, in theory and
in absolute, you want to give Derek Carr three years,
one hundred fifty No, for you know, do you want
to give Ga No, you don't. But this is the
(16:49):
price of business for a quarterback, even a quarterback who
in a year or two you might want to be
as far away from as possible. This is how it
works in the NFL. Now, I'm sorry if you don't
like it, but this is how teams get quarterbacks because
getting a quarterback is hard. It's not easy. It seems
easy because certain teams can draft a guy and put
(17:09):
him in the line of me go, oh my god,
this is fantastic. But look at a team like the
Jets has gotten the quarterback wrong for how many years? Right?
The Saints, how have they been trying to replace Drew
Brees for seven guys for the last year's That's why
they're giving money to Derek Carr. This is how hard
it is in the NFL to get a quarterback, even
for one that we can have good for a year.
This is why Geno Smith got a three year deal
(17:31):
and he got a ton of money because he was
good this year. And the Saints are saying, do we
want to start over a quarterback or do we want
to give Geno Smith money? Knowing full well it may
be done right, he may be terrible next year and
we got to get out of it. But the alternative
is to not have a guy and to get lucky
that a guy we pick in the draft is going
to be good enough to come play. What if he's
(17:52):
not ready to play as a rookie, what if it
takes him another year? Then suddenly we're stuck giving quarterbacks
more money than they're worth. Unfortunate lee is the price
of doing business in the NFL. So you can sit
here and say, oh, I wouldn't give a That's why
the whole, the whole argument of Daniel Jones wants forty
five million from the Giants, turns out he wanted forty
eight million a year from the Giants and they're negotiating. Oh,
(18:13):
he's like, of course he's going to get it because
the Giants don't want to start over and somebody else
is going to give him forty some odd million dollars
a year. If he becomes a free agent, the Jets
will say, oh, you don't want him, we'll take him.
He blossom last year. We love having a dual thread
quarterback and having a poor man's Josh Allen in a
division that has Josh Allen. Well, somebody's gonna give him
that money. That's how it works, even if the end
(18:34):
of the contract or the last couple of years is
gonna suck because a deadcat money moving on. That's how
it works in the NFL. You have to be okay
with that because if if you're not okay with potentially
making mistakes and be you can't just make every decision, well, well,
I want to leave myself open so I can have
money to spend, money spend. Then that day is never
gonna come. That day is never going to come, and
you're never gonna want us spell. We're gonna wait, We're
(18:55):
gonna wait when your team's gonna suck for a while.
So that's the whole thing, is that. Yeah, you may
like it, but if you want to take a chance
and having a really good quarterback, you have to say,
all right, hey, what do we have right now? We
have nothing? Do we draft high enough? Maybe is a
guy good enough to come into play right away? Maybe
what if we get Derek Carr for a couple of years. Okay,
what if he sucks this year, We'll figure it out.
(19:16):
We'll frontload money this year and then get out of
the same thing with Gino Smith. We'll give a lot
of money this year and we'll figure it out a
year after that. We'll have a lot of deadcat money.
So does everybody else in the NFL. Nobody has no
deadcat money. Everybody's spending money because quarterbacks are very difficult
to get. This is the price of doing business. So
if you're upset about Derek Carr, you're upset about him
getting getting paid, if Geno Smith getting money and Daniel
(19:36):
I'm sorry, but you are thinking like thirty years ago,
and teams have to make moves like this to succeed.
This is just how it works in the NFL. When
I hear I wouldn't get I wouldn't. I wouldn't him that.
It's like, guys, what are we doing here? You realize
what you have to do succeed in the NFL. This
is part of it. Well, part of it is separating
the player and whatever stats or failures for your fantasy
football team were into the reality of where we're at
(20:00):
in the sporting world. And I know Derek Carr was
only seventeenth and fantasy scoring for quarterbacks, I know that's disappointing,
and try to figure out where he is in the continuum, right,
because we look at the larger quarterback thing and we
could do this, we could we could rank them right
and grab our top ten, top fifteen, whatever. You got
about six seven guys that separate and then you got
(20:21):
a muddled, massive picking poison. Right, So, do you like
Derek Carr slightly more on your board than you do
Tannehill or Baker Mayfield in a reclamation project? Go on
down the line. You don't normally get guys of great
quality getting to true free agency part one. Right, you
(20:42):
do have these circumstances with car and the Raiders. You
had it with Matthew Stafford and the Lions where it's
like all right, We've gone as far as we can
go with this dance, and at some point we either
part Amica amicably like they did between Detroit and Stafford
and they got a sweetheart deal from the RAM and
everything else that has to play out. Rams being very
(21:04):
good at moving money around and keeping Starpower got their
super Bowl. Now it's a constant reevaluation. Right, Leonard Floyd's
gonna be the next guy to leave. But when you
look at what did the Saint to do before car
comes in, readjusted a lot of money in Green Bay.
That's one of those things to watch is they redid
a lot of contracts in the last two weeks. So
(21:24):
it adds to a little bit of intrigue as to
what the packers may do with Gino Smith. It's front loaded.
I mean, hey, it's a lot of butt. Like it's
half the money is this year. Likewise, Cars, it's a
lot of money up front. You're gonna be the quarterback
this year no matter what, You're gonna be the quarterback,
and it's gonna go bad. It's gonna go bad. Seattle,
as we talked with Jason Locke, and for something we've
been talking about, you've got that extra pick in your
(21:46):
pocket that you got from Denver. So maybe at five
you get one of these combined wonders or whatever that
you decide, all right, they're a project and if Gino
after a year is no good, you move on. It's
the same thing and every sport. Right we talked about
in baseball, why they get him eleven years, Well, because
they're hoping they win in five years and then the
rest of it is a long tale to retirement or
(22:10):
someone else decides they want a part in Albert Pools.
They took the shot in Anaheim. It didn't work, but
everybody bemoans it as a terrible deal. It's like they
went up for five years, they didn't build out the
rest of the squad, they didn't win. What are you
gonna do? And he started to get his show signs
of age, had a bunch of milestones whatever. In basketball,
we see these deals all the time because we're not
(22:32):
two in ones anymore. Guys get the extra years. What happens?
Buy out central? What do we had? We had a
veritable bazaar a couple of weeks ago. Right behind every turn,
everybody had a kiosk. Please buy my contract, let me
out so's it's the same thing. And with quarterbacks it
goes to rock bottoms so fast. And let's face it,
(22:54):
if you're not respectable, very few teams have a situation
whereby the GM and code feel secure at all. Well, yeah,
so you've got to have something of value or at
least perceived value and take your shot. Yeah, it's gotten
past the point of being frugal and being patient used
to be a great strategy in sports. Right if I
spend bad money, I'm not gonna have money for this.
(23:16):
Being frugal and being patient was a strategy and it
could work. It's my mom's saved it. That's that. Yeah,
it's like you know, like, oh, I have a favorite shirt, boy,
I don't want to wear it too much because why
I'm gonna wear out. So you wear a shirt that
you don't really like as much, but I wear them
off because it goes in the back of the closets, Like, no,
I'm gonna have that event that never come. That day
(23:37):
may not come because you didn't dress up that one night.
You'd ever met that special someone, So that shirt didn't
do its job. I'm saving this shirt for the special
for one of my life. Man, being frugal and being
patient doesn't work. And it's been a big sea change
in sports, and you just gotta come around to that fact. Right.
You brought up baseball and in the beginning a few
(23:58):
years ago when you saw that, hey, this is is
a ten year, three hundred million dollar contract. Boy, that's
gonna be off of the last five years. That's gonna
really kill them. Well, you know what number one A
team is gonna say, Well, talking about it in five years,
see what the world is like. Five money going up? Right?
Then right, the money keeps going up, gallery camps and
rights fees and everything else. And now you're seeing more
(24:18):
guys getting the contract because owners are saying, I don't
really care about the end of it. We'll figure out something.
Oh what I don't want to spend. Part of being
an owner and being in the front office in sports
is figuring your way out of problems. It's going down.
This is not Hey, I don't want to figure out problems.
That that's the Adam Silver philosophy. I don't want to
figure out running. I want things to be. I want
(24:39):
things to be just as smooth as they can be.
No part of the gig when you take it in
the NFL and you're an owner and you're a GM
is where there's gonna be problems and we got to
figure them out a lot. And we're gonna be money problems.
Let's figure our way out of it. You know, how
can get out of that camp problem? Sorry, I was
gonna start quoting drafting. Yeah, let's go to Jennifer Garner
and see what she's got to say. Because when you
(24:59):
draft a guy in the draft, which they allow you
money to sign your draft different But you know, I
have a good child, My achievement, bride impression is pretty good.
Would solve those salary cap problems. That's a pretty good
that's pretty good. But but in in Major League Baseball's
teams don't care about that anymore. Yeah I don't care.
But look at the end of the contract. Yeah I
(25:19):
don't care. Nobody cares. So that's so that's now become
the way that all teams have. You have to accept
the fact that big money is going to be spent
and potentially bad money is going to be spent on
big time positions. When a guy like Juan Soto becomes available,
we gotta make a trade form that we have to
sign him. Do a lot of money. Okay, Why because
that's how it works. Harron Judge is a free agent.
(25:40):
We gotta give Aaron Judge it. Well, I wouldn't give
him that. Who else you're gonna give it to? What
else you gonna do with that money? You gotta you
gotta do something with it. And that's and that's where
you can apply it to quarterbacks. Is that. Yeah, the
Saints are looking at all right, we don't have a
guy right now. We may get the guy right in
the draft. We may not, but Derek Carr is right
here and we can get him. Maybe he's really good.
And at the very least we got him for this year.
(26:02):
And if he sucks after this year and we got
to get out of it, we'll figure it out next
year or the year after that, and we'll structure it
in such a way that it won't hinder us so much.
And if Derek Carr really sucks, we're picking high in
the draft, in which case we're drafting a quarterback, which
enough to worry about signing a quarterback, so we'll then
be okay on it. I mean, this is how teams thought.
I think about things, And if you think about it,
the other way, and you can become afraid to sign
(26:23):
a guy because all this guy's not worth it. It's
one thing if you sign a guy that's got injury history,
because then you're just asking for well, he'll be he'll
be healthy with us. Why because you're suddenly gonna change
after twelve years or not being healthy's gonna be that's
line Frostbridge's not here. That's that's one thing. If the
guy's not healthy, guy's not healthy, guy's diminishing performance, all
these things. But to say the money that that that's
(26:45):
that's that's business now and and you either have to
be in align with that now or you're gonna get
left behind. And and that's why all this money that
people are insane about. Does Smith get this? Should Derek
Carr get this guy? No, Derek Carr is not that good.
Gino Smith is gonna come back to earth in a
large way that year. It's gonna be why are we
gonna do? But you have to because this is your
potential way to be good and to win games and
(27:07):
get to the playoffs and get to the super Bowl.
This is our teams have to do it, and they
know they're gonna make mistakes. They know that Derek Carr,
the Saints know that Derek Carr contract is a huge risk.
The Seahawks know that Gino Smith contract is a huge risk.
The Jets making a trade for Aaron Rodgers when it's
gonna wind up have they know that everything's a risk
and it's but you have to be okay with with that.
And that's the teams that are gonna wind up winning,
(27:28):
and they're gonna be the ones that is all right, Well,
we got problems, we'll get out of it. We'll figure
out a way. We'll figure Not that we're gonna push
our problems till tomorrow, but there's things we can do.
What's our problem today. We gotta make sure we got
a quarterback. His life in the NFL is miserable if
you don't have a quarterback. So, okay, bang bang back
you're gonna see this happen well in this in this case,
right with Gino, you've got proof of concept. Yes it's
(27:49):
only a year, but he's been in the system, he
won the job, he performed very well. You have a
base of two wide receivers and a running back that
that's pretty solid, right, and you drafted really well. They
got away from Russell Wilson. Whailah. Guess what they went
back to the draft tenants ten years ago when they
built those Super Bowl teams and oh no, look how
(28:11):
you got a pro bowler in the secondary as a rookie.
You got a guy that you know was chasing your guys,
Sauce Gardner for votes for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
You got all that kind of stuff going, and Gino performed,
and he performed, performed admirably. You don't would suddenly just
turn away from that as he's gotta we gotta pay him. Ah,
I forget it. Yeah, Unfortunately you didn't get an extra
(28:32):
year at a bargain basement discount rate for Derek Carr.
Yeah you can. And I'm not a huge car guy
at all, And I don't care when he gets paid.
I'm just not a huge Derek Carr guy. You can
give him a hundred million dollars. I don't care, as
long as you can still function as a GM. And
that's the thing. That's the price of poker. It's the
price of the position. You don't have to like it,
(28:54):
but you have to accept where it is. When guys
get to their free agency's status. That's what they burned.
It's like when people complain about baseball players arbitraged whatever.
You realize they've got paid nothing for seven years. Right,
So it's every sport has the same thing, but right
now we see it with quarterbacks because of that lamentation,
because maybe your quarterback needs to get paid. Next, Twitter
(29:17):

(29:39):
guess what everybody does that? Coming up next, we got
more NFL and do I have a great NBA hot
take coming your way? You're gonna have to agree with
It's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox. Is that
that the Lakers are back? The Lakers are back, that's
not the hot take. But they're back? Not the hot take. Hey,

that you had Jets, Jets, Jets stuff like all the
way through. Oh it's exciting, I'm excited Jets here today,
(30:46):
you're kidding Jets Jets chat. You're getting listen. Aaron Rodgers
could be told it's the Jets or nothing, and he's
gonna say I choose nothing. Is he gonna be the
next guy on my list of here's gm that doesn't
get to form a task. Well, the one thing I
can hold on. Hope for is if Aaron Rodgers does
say I don't want to be a Jet, the Jets go. Okay,
(31:07):
Lamar Jackson, here's a boatload of money. We'll try. Oh,
two first round picks we'd have to deal for Aaron Rodgers.
How about we give you two first round picks for
Lamar Jackson. Hey, that's gonna work for us. Huh yeah, buddy, Jets.
Damn it Jet. But look, this story of John Morant
these last few days has been an incredible one to digest.
(31:28):
Now there's no timetable for his return of the Grizzlies
after he was sent home for a couple of games,
not called to suspend knockle spends he sent home, and
no timetable for his return after an instance in which
he was seen on video at five eighteen in the
morning over the weekend brandishing a gun. This on the
heels of the report that he punched a seventeen year
(31:49):
old kid repeatedly during a hoops game and showed him
a gun, which was on the heels of the report
of the security guard that he and people around him
threatened in a mall, which is on the heels of
the report of earlier when he and people around him
threatened staffers on the pacers with laser pointers a couple
a few weeks ago. So now John Morant has been
(32:10):
sent home, and you have heard a lot of different
things about job. He's around himself with bad people. He's this,
he's that, he's all of that. The important thing to
know is this right, because this is this is a
guy that really needs to understand exactly where he is
right now. And if I was advising him and he
was somebody saying listen, because obviously he needs somebody advising
him because where he's going right now, he's making the
(32:32):
worst decisions in the world, is I would tell him this.
I would say, dude, look, your reputation is ruined. I'm sorry,
but it is. You're this guy now. For a long time.
You are this guy with guns and you're fighting kids,
and you're causing trouble out of them all. You're causing
trouble at an NBA game. You are this guy. You
are this guy for a while. Now you have a
(32:53):
decision to make right now, you suck it up and
you make better decisions, be patient, stay in the NBA,
and in a few years, okay, then people are going
to see you as a star. He had stuff going
on earlier on in his career and he outgrew it.
He got rid of the people around it. Whatever the
narrative is going to because I don't want to see
(33:14):
here and say, oh, it's people around you. Know, dude,
you gotta be responsible for your own decisions. You gotta
response for yourself. You know you're not You're not thirteen.
You know you're a guy with a with millions of dollars.
You're in the NBA now, you can you can make
your own decisions. So I tell him, that's decision you
have to make. You can make that. You can do that,
or you can keep doing what you're doing and get
kicked out of the league. You choose, It's really it's
your choice right now. This is the moment when you
(33:37):
decide this is what I want my career and my
life to be. You've you've really ruined a lot of
it right now, and I'm telling you you have and
there's not a lot you're going to get back. Instead
of future MVP face the League, John Morant and it's
boy John Morant, Bad dude, bad guy. Um can he
even stay in the league? I don't like him, and
you have to withstand that because you're responsible for all
(33:59):
the damage you've done to yourself, your image, and your reputation.
But you have to choose to stop the backsliding right
now or you're gonna wind up being out of the league.
And that's the choice that he has faced right now, because,
like I said last week, if you had to ask me,
is he gonna likely be a future NBA MVP or
out of the league in five years, I'd say that's
a toss up. Man, that is an absolute toss up win.
(34:20):
The beginning of the year, I said he's gonna win
the MVP this year. This is his year to become
the biggest star on one of the faces of the league.
And now I have five years he's gonna be in
the league. Three years he's gonna be in the league.
Three months he might not be in the league if
this is the way he keeps going. Yeah, we got
off air Friday night, stand up a little late, getting
some stuff done and and out a little bit to exhale,
so I slept in and then I wake up and
(34:43):
all that's trending is John morand John morand gun John
John morand club whatever else, you know, just a litany
of little one liners and then you start reading into
it and it's like, okay, next step in this evolution.
And yesterday I had Old and paul A Nast with
me here on Fox Sports Sunday and was asking the
(35:04):
question as you would natural extent to I mean, his
dad's always around. But something's missing in that part of
the equation, at least from an influence to not he's
yellow with Shannon sharp. But that's the point right now.
Is one of the permutations and steps in this that
that you'd left out, Like that's instance number five. And
(35:27):
we've seen the Grizzlies that were a feel good story
become the hey stand why are you so mad? Right?
That was the team they became here, right, and you
like it playing with an edge and an attitude to
a degree, but you still have to go take care
of business. Evidently they had veterans on the squad saying, hey,
let's let's clean up it, you know when we're on
(35:49):
the road and be more vigilant about what we're doing
and more business like. And then you had this happen.
You got a guy who look America and fans of
all sports, low redemptive stories. Here's your opportunity, because right
now you've got a couple of allegations, you pile them
all together and it looks bad, right folks that want
to dismiss them and go, well that and that. It's
(36:09):
like no, no, one off. Fine, but now you've got
a pattern behavior and capped off with a nightclub and
waving a gun, and it leads to so much other
speculation and more investigations. Difficult road
