are now investigating John Morant in the instance from this
past weekend in which he was brandishing a gun when
he was at a late night club five thirty local
time in the morning after their game Friday night, and
he was shown on social media with the gun. This

on the heels of the report that he beat up
a seventeen year old kid, hid him repeatedly during a
pickup basketball game, and showed him a gun there, which
is on the heels of the report that he at
a mall with him and the people he's hanging out
with push the security guard and got into a back
and forth, which is on the heels of the report
that he and some of his other people hanging around

him got into a thing at the Pacers game with
Pacers employees with laser pointers. So this is then the
skirmish on the court with the very well attired Oh yeah, yes, yes,
that's Shannon Sharp and John Morant's dad. And now this
is the fourth time that we've seen something. And finally
the Grizzly said over the weekend he will be spending

the next few games away from the team. Didn't say
he was suspended, just said he's gonna be away from
the team for the next two days. And so they
said he was going to be away mental health and
getting himself right and all that stuff, and today he
said that. Today it was it was said that there
is no timetable yet for his return to the Grizzlies roster.
And the one thing I'll tell you before before I

tell you what he needs to be told, is that
you hear almost to a person any time John Morant's
name has come up in the last few days, and
it's people saying, hey, dude, you need to do this,
you need to It's it's been very positive towards let's
save this guy's career instead of saying, oh, look at you.
You know you're not a good guy and you should

be out of the league. And you have heard everybody
just say, hey, man, you're young, you make mistakes, do
something about it. And the thing that he needs to
be told, and this is the message that he needs
to have because I'm not I'm not up for the whole. Hey,
you surround yourself with bad p butt. No, you're You're
old enough to make your own decisions. Now. You're the
guy that was accused of punching that kid. You're the

one that pulled out the right, You're the one that
pulled out the gun. You're the one that punched the kid.
So you got to take responsibility for your for your
own actions now. And this is what I would tell them.
I would say, listen, because you know me, I give
it the pr advice I give to people. That would
be what I would do for a living if I
wasn't doing this, And I would say, Okay, here's the thing,
and here here's here's what can't be what can't be

shaken out. You have ruined your reputation. You've ruined it.
You went from few your MVP face of the league,
you are going to get everything, to now your reputation
is gone. Good luck with endorsements, good luck with a
lot of things. He's gonna shoe coming out on April Fools?

he have coming out? Not yet? Still? Still yet? Ye?

have two choices. You can suck it up right because
it's what you gotta do. You can suck it up
right now, and you can make better decisions. Be patient,

stay in the NBA, continue on that path, continue being
a great player, and in a few years, hopefully it
will fade and it will be just hey, I made
mistakes when I was a kid. Get out in front
of it and show that, Hey, I want to live
my life a certain way. That's your true You can
do that, or you can keep doing what you're doing
and get kicked out of the NBA and then go
do whatever you want to do, and then you're gonna

you're gonna have your gun, and you're gonna have your
situations and you're and you're gonna wind up with a
bad future. Right you right now have everything you could
possibly want, and you can either work hard to keep
what you have left of it and get it back,
or you could just keep doing what you're doing and
say blank this, I do whatever I want to do,
and then you're gonna wind up not being even being
in the NBA, and it's gonna be well, he's gonna

play overseas. He's gonna have to go. Here's that because
that's the path he is on, and that's the decision
he has to make right now. I said it last week.
If you told me he's even a better chance of
winning MVP or being out of the league in five years,
I would say that's a toss up, man. And it's
when I came into the lead year guy. He was
gonna be the face of the league, MVP, all of
these things. This is the moment that he decides what

he wants his life to be and he's got to
make this decision right now. Well, but the other part
is screwed just being out of the league. You're playing
with fire at this point in terms of your life,
right That's the larger thing that that goes on, beyond
the millions and beyond you know, being able to do
what he does and getting us excited about the Grizzlies

and his game and all the preseason predictions, prognostications and
the highlight reels. It's just a real are you okay?
What the hell, man is like the opener, talk to me,
what's going on? And why? Like is this just recent, right,
because there's a couple of months that encapsulate going back

to the the the summer months. But is there other
stuff that just didn't come out because he wasn't as publicized, right,
there wasn't one of the phases of the league, whatever else.
It's to figure out where were that that's switched. And
I know some are are quick to blame his dad,

to him and tried to counsel as best he can.
So I mean, I can't pretend to know their relationship
in that regard, but clearly something's off. Either he's the
characters that some alleged they were trying to play on
the court, the Grizzlies, and the attitude and everything else

has gone into real life or that was always there
and it just now is rearing its head in a
huge way. Either way, the intervention needs to happen. The
Grizzlies are one of the feel goods, or were anyway
up until a couple of weeks ago. And now the
Washington Post and all these other reports like you're you're
fearing for the guy on a number of levels, and

that he doesn't do something stupid. Right, it exists as
is dumb. Yeah right, but we're talking about next level
stuff because we're watching the progression. Yeah. Look, he this
is the biggest decision he's got to make in his life.
What do you want? What? What? What kind of life
do you want? And you got to decide you're a bit,
You're you're you're you're you're a bit. You're big enough now,

you've been in the league for a while, you're in
your early twenties. You you're independent, you don't have you're
not reliant to anybody for money or anything else. You

be out of the league. And you have heard everybody
just say, hey, man, you're young, you make mistakes, do
something about it. And the thing that he needs to
be told, and this is the message that he needs
to have because I'm not I'm not up for the whole. Hey,
you surround yourself with bad p butt. No, you're You're
old enough to make your own decisions. Now. You're the
guy that was accused of punching that kid. You're the

one that pulled out the right, You're the one that
pulled out the gun. You're the one that punched the kid.
So you got to take responsibility for your for your
own actions now. And this is what I would tell them.
I would say, listen, because you know me, I give
it the pr advice I give to people. That would
be what I would do for a living if I
wasn't doing this, And I would say, Okay, here's the thing,
and here here's here's what can't be what can't be

shaken out. You have ruined your reputation. You've ruined it.
You went from few your MVP face of the league,
you are going to get everything, to now your reputation
is gone. Good luck with endorsements, good luck with a
lot of things. He's gonna shoe coming out on April Fools?
But does he really? But does he really? Now? Does
he have coming out? Not yet? Still? Still yet? Ye?

That note? They don't need to say it yet, just
need you know, I gotta wait. He doesn't need to
say I can do with all those shoes, that's gonna
be a lot of shoes, right, Like how many would
there be more of those if they got discontinued or
more easies that they're going to burn up? Yeah, well
there'll be more. Well they're not going to burn the
JOm Rans, They're gonna burn the easy And so I
would tell him, listen, you've done that, and there's nothing
that can be undone to there you have. You have

a really bad reputation and it's gonna take you years
to remake it. Sorry, but this is what you've done
because you decided to act this way. And now you
have two choices. You can suck it up right because
it's what you gotta do. You can suck it up
right now, and you can make better decisions. Be patient,

stay in the NBA, continue on that path, continue being
a great player, and in a few years, hopefully it
will fade and it will be just hey, I made
mistakes when I was a kid. Get out in front
of it and show that, Hey, I want to live
my life a certain way. That's your true You can
do that, or you can keep doing what you're doing
and get kicked out of the NBA and then go
do whatever you want to do, and then you're gonna

you're gonna have your gun, and you're gonna have your
situations and you're and you're gonna wind up with a
bad future. Right you right now have everything you could
possibly want, and you can either work hard to keep
what you have left of it and get it back,
or you could just keep doing what you're doing and
say blank this, I do whatever I want to do,
and then you're gonna wind up not being even being
in the NBA, and it's gonna be well, he's gonna
(09:43):
play overseas. He's gonna have to go. Here's that because
that's the path he is on, and that's the decision
he has to make right now. I said it last week.
If you told me he's even a better chance of
winning MVP or being out of the league in five years,
I would say that's a toss up, man. And it's
when I came into the lead year guy. He was
gonna be the face of the league, MVP, all of
these things. This is the moment that he decides what

he wants his life to be and he's got to
make this decision right now. Well, but the other part
is screwed just being out of the league. You're playing
with fire at this point in terms of your life,
right That's the larger thing that that goes on, beyond
the millions and beyond you know, being able to do
what he does and getting us excited about the Grizzlies

and his game and all the preseason predictions, prognostications and
the highlight reels. It's just a real are you okay?
What the hell, man is like the opener, talk to me,
what's going on? And why? Like is this just recent, right,
because there's a couple of months that encapsulate going back

to the the the summer months. But is there other
stuff that just didn't come out because he wasn't as publicized, right,
there wasn't one of the phases of the league, whatever else.
It's to figure out where were that that's switched. And
I know some are are quick to blame his dad,

to him and tried to counsel as best he can.
So I mean, I can't pretend to know their relationship
in that regard, but clearly something's off. Either he's the
characters that some alleged they were trying to play on

has gone into real life or that was always there
and it just now is rearing its head in a
huge way. Either way, the intervention needs to happen. The
Grizzlies are one of the feel goods, or were anyway
up until a couple of weeks ago. And now the
Washington Post and all these other reports like you're you're
fearing for the guy on a number of levels, and

that he doesn't do something stupid. Right, it exists as
is dumb. Yeah right, but we're talking about next level
stuff because we're watching the progression. Yeah. Look, he this
is the biggest decision he's got to make in his life.
What do you want? What? What? What kind of life
do you want? And you got to decide you're a bit,
You're you're you're you're you're a bit. You're big enough now,

you've been in the league for a while, you're in
your early twenties. You you're independent, you don't have you're
not reliant to anybody for money or anything else. You
can make these decisions. Everybody is quick to the John
Morant Brant And if that means that mentally he needed
a break, he needed a pause, maybe that's the case.
But like how he's acting out in this regard, I mean,
