(00:48):
dot com the way tire buying should be. Well, I've
realized something, By Carmen, I realized something. You're gonna say
I'm crazy, but I've realized something. Okay, ready for this? Yeah,
hit me? I am the best kind of World Baseball
classic fan. How do you mean by that? What what
brought you to this conclusion? I am the best kind
of fan for this. I'm the absolute best, and and
(01:09):
it's it's really there's no there's no arguing it right now.
Bottom of the seventh inning, Japan leads United States three
to one. United States has six more outs to try
to win the World Baseball Classic. But I am the
best kind of fan. And here's why. Because if we win,
and I say we the United States, because I'm from here,
I have that kind of proprietary thing I can say,
I'm from here. We're playing. If we win, great, If
(01:34):
we lose, I don't really care, So I bet that's
the I mean, I don't have to worry about heartbreak
or thinking about how emotional and staying up all night
and worrying about stuff. I'm the best kind of fan
because if we lose, if we win, that's great, And
if we lose, I don't care. That's the best. Man.
That's a good place to be about what a fan
(01:56):
I am. Man, they should be writing meat letters saying, hey, sorry,
we screwed your season with the whole Edwin Daz thing,
but hey, thanks for being such a fan, and hey,
if you win lose, all right you can. I could
be happy when they win, and if they lose, it's
not that big a deal. Well, I mean, that's just it.
And it really kind of flows with your earlier analysis
after the Edwin Diez injury and how salty you were,
and saying that you could appreciate the spectacle of the
(02:20):
World Baseball Classic, but it would never win your heart
because you lost Edwin Diaz. Because no matter what happens
today in these final outs, after Goldschmidt grounds into a
week double play MVP by just when I needed you most,
and Mike Trout real half ass job of selling what
(02:42):
might have been a hit by pitch. All right, well
could have done it, but he didn't. But anyway, but
do your boy yet, hang on, it's not over yet.
It's not that inning is no we had that's where
the inning is over. Yes, failure by both of those,
the inning is over yet. But the point being that
after this game win loser, draw, you still don't have
Edwin Diaz. No I don't. I don't, And you have
(03:03):
a whole season to look forward to. You've got a
new episode of Ted lasts, so I'd not gotten a
chance to watch today's release just yet. That'll be the
post show it here's a spoiler. There were soccer played.
Oh how dare you? You just screwed that all up
(03:24):
for me? But no, I mean, we've got this, We've
got a little bit of NBA action going on. The
Clippers are in action, so you know, we've we've got
some basketball we' well you know what, they still they
still rank, They're still there. They have not been eliminated
from postseason consideration just yet. So we've got that going
(03:45):
for us. And really hope springs eternal. You know, the
sun has not found its way to Los Angeles, but
maybe it did wherever you are and wherever you may
be listening. See maybe in Jason's heart, buddy, I see.
I think you are not really grasping that how momentous
of a moment this is because how many fans can
sit there and say, hey, when my team wins, I'm excited,
(04:08):
and if they lose, I don't care well, And part
of that is maturity and pragmatism. No, but I mean
unless four letter here, if you're if you're a Lions fan,
normally I get it because when they win, hey, okay,
that's not expecting to when they loan this, hey it's okay,
I'm expectings. But like for most of the other teams,
it's like, hey, when they win, oh man, it was
(04:30):
so awesome. I was so happy and I was talking
smack and cursing out people I knew and send it
crazy ass texts and oh and then when they lost,
I couldn't go to sleep and I was up all
night and I had a sandwich and I went for
a drive and I was so mad. Never gonna get
over this loss. No, just think about that. How I
can be excited when they win and if they look, yeah,
don't matter. No, it's a pretty good place to be in.
I mean that way for the Jets and the Mets,
(04:52):
but I'm not. But I'm I'm I'm that way here.
I'm like, okay, all right, if they if the USA
pulls out a win, here, okay, if not, I'm moving on.
I'm went on to the regular season a few days.
I'm excited all that. I'm moving on. I'm moving on
my car. It's a very difficult thing to do, but
I can do. No, that's good. I mean, look, that's
emotional maturity. It's showing that you're crossing some other bridge
into the next phase of your life. And maybe you'll
(05:15):
get to that level with the Mets, the Jets and
the Knicks at some point where that singular loss doesn't
crush your soul the same way we've watched it and
experienced it with you Low these many years. Oh, I
don't know, man, would that ever get to me where? No?
I think that would kill you. I think that would
mean that you've given up on light. Yeah, And I
can't have you do that, Bunny. I need you to
(05:36):
be with us, Stay with us, don't go to the light. Man. No,
I'm here, buddy, I'm here. I mean, it's it's I'm here, buddy,
it's it's all. It's all good. Tonight show brought you

(06:00):
on the World Baseball Class, Hey, Jason, Yeah, what's up from?
I'm with you now. I hate the World Baseball Classic? Man?
Why do you hate it? Now? Why why are you there?
Because we're down three one? Yeah, I'll tell you that.
He thinks you're gonna be upset right if we if
we lose, you're gonna But here's the thing. Country first, Hey,
Tommy Losorda from wherever he is in the Great Heaven,
(06:23):
in Blue Heaven. Right now, he's going, come on, root
for your country. I can get your duty, Jason, Jason,
I'll tell him you. It's the very first time we
had with what two thousand and nine, right, was that
the first one? I think two thousand nine was First
World base sounds about right, And I was feeling I
can still hear his voice. I was filling in for
Dan Patrick at ESPN and Tommy less Order was coming.
(06:43):
He was one of the ambassadors of the First World
Baseball Classic, and the one thing you can say, well,
not the one thing, but you can always say I'm consistent.
I've always been, Hey, I'm not quite the biggest fan
of the World Baseball. I don't want guys to get hurt,
and I've seen Mets players get other players get hurt.
Why are we doing this, Why it's a fake, made
up thing that we're having just because we're trying to
(07:04):
figure out a way to boost Major League Baseball. Right,
So Tommy Lessorder comes on, and I remember talking to
the producer. I said, hey, I said it's gonna be
okay that I disagree with Tommy he goes, oh, yeah, yeah,
Tommy's he think Tommy doesn't want to fight with you
on this. Don Tommy's gonna be great. Says, okay, great.
So Tommy goes on and go, hey, Tommy, how you
doing Jason Smith blah blah blah. I said, so we
touched our World Baseball Classic, and I said, you know, Tommy,
(07:25):
I gotta say I'm not the biggest fan because and
I didn't even get into my reasoning. I thought at
least he would let me say I'm worried about the
players getting hurt. I don't want players on my team
getting hurt. And he just stopped right away, left like
he was my grandfather's time. Jason Jason Jason Jason and
my first audience. Well, at least he knows my name.
That's good. But he keeps saying it, Oh Jason, Jason, Look,
(07:46):
you gotta listen to me, Jason. I go, okay, Tommy
Jason Jason. I said, oh, now, I gotta let you
talk because you're just gonna say my name until I
stopped talking so I can still hear his voice at
my end, Jason Jason Jason Jason, his performance. You gonna
talk about his performance Jason Jason, Jake's all right, Tom,
all right, And he talked about it. You know, it's
the greatest thing in the world. He loved it, loved it,
(08:07):
loved it, loved it. And I get it. I get
that people love the World Baseball Classic, and I liked it.
I would have liked it a little bit more if
Edwin Diaz didn't get hurt and knocked out for the season,
I would have liked that more. But that's kind of
where I am. Hey, would I like to see us win? Yes,
I'd love to see it. But if we don't win,
it's almost like the Olympics, right when you get caught
up and so all of a sudden we have to
(08:28):
drop what we're doing and we are all in on
every single Olympic event. Now. I can't do that, right.
I can't treat the two man Louge the same way
I treat ice hockey, right, I just can't do it.
But if I'm watching the two man Loge or something,
I'm rooting for you. I want the United States to win,
and that's great. But if that is Days doesn't win,
I'm like, Okay, well we're not gonna win that somebody
else is gonna win. That's okay, and I'm onto the
next event, onto the next thing I can. That's kind
(08:49):
of how I am right now, as as big a
baseball fan as I am, and I don't think there's
any bigger baseball fans on the entire network here at
Fox Sports RADI than you, me and Ben Maller big
fans as we are. I see this and I okay,
It's kind of just part of what goes on. It's
part of the story of baseball. And because I love
the sport. I love baseball. It's a high level game
(09:11):
being played right now and that's terrific. But overall for it, yeah,
I have my reasons. I got my reasons, and then
that's that's where I'm at. Yeah, I would say with this, um,
just to back it out for anybody else out there,
maybe you're feeling the same way Jason is in this regard.
I propose that it's that you don't have the emotional
connection to the collected group of players. Right. Yeah, you're
(09:31):
you're cheering for the US, but you don't have that
same emotional investment. Because this is the short lived experiment, guys,
piece together. You haven't been sweating with these guys watching
them through the minor leagues, except the players on your
team or those that came over in various ways, right,
the bidding processes as they are, free agency, trades, etc.
(09:53):
That that you don't have that same emotional resonance. Ergo
when the if the US were to lose your you're
not feeling it in the gut the same way. So
I get that. You know, you don't grind for five
and a half months with this squad to this ultimate
three inning affair at this point, right, we're down to
(10:13):
the final two innings here of the World Baseball Classics.
So a little bit of the the agitation and the
nerves on edge, but not to the same level of, Hey,
we went through one hundred and sixty two regular season games,
we survived spring training, and now we're here, threw a
playoff series in another series, and some thrilling wins, injuries, EBB,
(10:34):
and flow of a season. Now this was kind of
like it's here Toda's Christmas Morning. M Yeah. Look, and
if you didn't get what you want, you'll play with
what you had last year. I think that was the
alternate lyrics. So you can't always get what you want.
If you get what you had last year. Now, let's
say that, how about sometimes you just can't find you
(10:54):
get what you need? How about that we say that
that's a good one. Well, I mean that was an
out Bundy from this episode where PEG's got the giant
bow hunt or something like Peg, why'd you wrap the
same stuff I didn't play with last year? Mike, Mike, Yeah,
plane to millennials, who al Bundy is? Please the guy
from my Modern Family, the grand the guy to play dude,
(11:15):
You have to you have to explain to millennials what
Modern Family actually it is that long ago at this
Come on, dude, it's been off the air for a while.
Bundee actually built Fox Fox, Dude hitting the Simpsons. Yeah,
I think just dude, Luke just turned forty. Come on, man,
you gotta, you gotta. It's been off the air for
a while. No, not that long. Sure, I think Luke
(11:36):
is twenty twenty. No, No, no, it was long ago
than Luke. That was it that ended during the pandemic. No,
it did it ended during the pang That was a bit.
It was. No, it did not like ten years ago.
Maybe I think Jason might be right, Mike, Yeah, I
think I think it ended like looking at it right now. No,
it twenty eight, so Fiagara look good when she still
(11:56):
does what I watched that reality show. But but that's
the thing is that if, if, if Japan wins this game, right,
I will move on so fast from this to the
regular season. It'll make your head spin. I'll be able
to move to change and pivot on a dome. Pin oh, Japan.
There's the final out. Japan wins at three to one. Hey,
(12:19):
I'm thinking the Mets in the NL. E still I
like the Dodgers, but it's gonna be a dog fight
in the L. I will move on so fast, and
you know what I'll do fast, I'll say Aaron Rodgers
is still a packer. Eight seven seven time out, time out? Jason,
Are you actually ahead of us? Why am I ahead
of you? I'm just I'm saying if it was a fight,
(12:39):
I was doing my fake final I don't think. I
don't think we heard tell you what? No, I'm ahead
of you. I think it was foul ball. No, you're not,
no schwar bomb. The last two pitches he almost hit home.
It's deep and it's not playable. Wow, wait, wait a minute,
(12:59):
right now, I think, Darvish, you don't have a home
run here, I really do. I think I think he's
gonna go long. I think I think Schwarber's going deep
right there. Give him, Darvish probably tipping his pitches. You, Darvish,
that's what happened. Did you give a guy an extension? Larry, Well,
there it goes. You're right. Home run three to two,
two behind. Yeah, that's a long time. Schwarber rounded the
(13:21):
bases and already slapped everybody the dugout. I feel like
it was batting practice him. Like the last two he
nearly hit home runs, like he's just what, I'm gonna
hit a home run on this. I'm just waiting for
the pitch. They don't call him wow wow, all right,
So three to two now, Japan leading the United States
in the Championship of the World Baseball Classic. Eight seven

Jason plays not affected here tight shirt rooting for Japan. Yeah,
(14:49):
where's the pitch clock? Where's the pitch clock? In this year?
We want to make sure they've get the young guy.

(15:12):
Baseball Classic Japan leads United States three two. Japan batting
right now in the bottom of the eighth inning, Kyle
Schober with a home run to bring the United States
to within three to two. And if my eyes don't
deceive me a certain show, Hey, Otani looks like and
I say, looks like he is warming up in the
(15:35):
bullpen potentially to pitch the ninth Jason, did you know, well,
did you guys know that Otani and Trout play together? No? No, really?
Did you know Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard? Did you
know that? Did you know that? I didn't. Did you
know Clayton Kershaw and Matthew Stafford were teammates? Way? Did
you know that? Did you know that? Did you know that?
(15:57):
Did you know Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones or
roommates in college? Did you know that too? What about
Derek Carr and Devant Adams They went to Fresno State together? No,
they didn't. Don't lie to me, don't lie. That's not true.
Who was it true? No way, No way, that's not true.
No way, never heard of him? Not true? Not true.
Uh So, if Otani does come in to pitch the ninth,
(16:19):
it's going to be Mullins, McNeil Bets, and then it
would be Mike t They're letting McNeil hit McNeil. Hey,
come on, keep talking about the last time he walked
the last time, and Bets got a base hit, and
then Trout hit into a double play, and the bleak
(16:40):
man man, don't blay. Trout sucks. Look at you, Tisher's
rooting for Japan. You're saying Trout sucks. What is the
World Baseball Classic doing to you? Guys? You're insane. Gould
Schmid was an MVP him, he was freaking cardinal. He
failed us but again three two Japan batting bottom of
(17:01):
the eighth thinning, leading United States of the World Baseball Class.
You don't even name one player on Japan. Name two
guys from I did one already. I don't know you anything. Okay, alright, alright,
very good, Okay, you missed. You missed the whole you
darvish conversation that we had a few minutes ago, did
(17:22):
I Yeah, I think it is, because yeah, yeah, all right,
here's the one for you. Jason Yoshida. Sure, sure, guys.
Three guys at like four hundred. You can't just look
at the box score and just say, look at all
these guys. You can't just what is a box score?
If who is it? Wa? Wait a minute, what's a
(17:44):
box score? What do you mean? You stand? What do
you mean? So I type in what does that mean?
Like they scored like a little box like you're talking
about now where it shows two to three right the
box with the scoring in uh? Right, yes, exactly, yes,
the box at the bottom the bottom right seat. See
you picked him up, tight shirt? Look, thank you. You're
gonna be a by play guy before you know it,
or you know, yeah, rooting for Japan. Can't talk right now,
(18:05):
he's got a Samurai sword in his back. Yeah, wow,
look at you. I can't believe rot rooting against the
United States. Look at you, man? Okay, all right, that's
on him. Don't say us. Uh. I'm pretty sure the
Green Bay Packers listen to our show. I'm pretty sure
because it would. When did we talk Mike about the
fact that the Packers have really screwed themselves when it
(18:29):
comes to the leverage for Aaron Rodger. We've done it
a couple of times in the last week but the
main point that I want to bring up now. We
talked about it last night. The Packers really don't have
leverage and Aaron Rodgers because they let it be known
they want him gone, and if they piss off the
Jets asking for too much, then the Jets can just say, Okay,
we're walking away. And I mean that interview at the
(18:50):
girls high school basketball game was just stupid. Yeah, yeah,
XA was awkward and roll faded any yes shows poorly
at every turn because because this as you chose poorly.
So so we talked about that being a very big
reason why they don't have the leverage because the Mets
are the Jets. The Mets, the Jets can jet the
Mets and the Jets the Jets can just say, yeah,
(19:11):
well maybe it's maybe a second and the third maybe
Now I don't think we want to give you a
first round pick. Now they'll give you a second because
you got to trade him. We need to get him,
but we could go get somebody else if we want to.
You need to get you can't have him come back.
So that lost leverage. And what did I say, The
Packers melted down at the moment. You can't melt down
right before the trade looked like it was gonna happen.
(19:34):
What did the Packers do? They couldn't They couldn't stand it.
They couldn't help themselves. But let it be known, we
don't want Aaron Rodgers back. They're talking about Roger's career
in the rearview mirror, whether it was the interview at
the girls State basketball championship or Guda coonster Mark Murphy
elsewhere talking about he Aaron had a great career here
we want You could not have done more to show
(19:56):
that we want him gone. So all you did was
give the power to the Jets by saying, oh yeah, yeah, okay,
so now you really can't have him back. You couldn't wait.
You couldn't wait until the trade was done to then
start saying about Aaron. Run and let all the crazy
ass stories get out about Aaron Rodgers that you know
the Packers want to make public. They're just Murphy and
(20:16):
Goodakoots are just itching. They're talking to beat reporters going
just wait, as soon as the trade is I'll call you,
will say sources tell you, and I will tell you
all kinds of crazy at stories about Aaron Rodgers. Then
I want to get off my chests. But just I
gotta wait. I gotta wait till the time. But they
couldn't help themselves. They had to talk publicly about how
Aaron Rodgers his career is in the rear view mirror.
So now the Jets have all the leverage. You want
(20:38):
to know why this deal isn't getting done because the
Jets are figuring out, wait a minute, we don't need
to give up what we wanted to. I think we
think you're asking for a little bit too much. Yeah,
maybe a first and the third. Maybe now we're thinking
a second and the third, or a second and a fourth,
or a first and a fourth or a first and
a fourth, and you're giving us a third. Yeah you
want something like that maybe now. So now the Packers
screwed themselves because they couldn't wait. They couldn't be cool
(21:00):
untill the trade got completed. They had to go out
and say, hey, we're done with him, and now the
Jets made up. It's all. It's difficult for me to
say the Jets did the right thing. But the Jets
did the right thing, and back and a way going Okay,
now we know we're gonna get them. Now let's see
what we have to give up for you because there's
no way you can have him back now. And what
did we get today for Mark Murphy, who, during a
(21:20):
tech summit at lambeau Field said, quote, We've got no
other news really going on right now. Murphy's saying, with
a laugh, I'm reading this from the New York Post.
I'd love to tell you everything you want to know
about Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, but I'm sworn to
secrecy not to say anything. So he kind of says
it with a little bit of haha, tongue in cheek
to it. Yeah, but I'm sworn to secrecy not to
(21:41):
say anything. Yeah, that means someone told him, dude, you
shut the hell up and let this trade play out.
You are killing us. You and GOODA Coats, be quiet,
don't say anything. Let us have this trade for then
you can say whatever all you want to. But now
you've heard us, and now you've heard us because we
don't know if we're gonna even get a first round
pick anymore. You were looking at the thirteenth overall pick
(22:02):
in the draft, but you couldn't be cool, and you
had to blab blab blab blab blab about Aaron and
what blah blah, And now the Jets said, oh, thank
you very much for that gift. And now we're not
going to get that thirteenth pick. Now we're gonna get
the thirty fourth pick or something else you want. Great,
thanks a lot. So I know the packers listen. Someone said, hey, hey,
you know boy, Jason and Mike they were writing about
(22:22):
that boy, Packers really were stupid. Hey, guys, how about
you don't say anything when it comes to this trade
anymore and let the trade actually happen before you just
start blabbing everywhere you go, telling you they must listen
to the show. Yeah. I mean, just when that interview
went down, I remember watching the first clip of it,
and then more of it came out. It's like, what
purpose did this serve? How does this help the company? Right?
(22:47):
Go go back to office space, ask yourself is this
good for the company? How anyway before you opened your
mouth to that reporter, could you have possibly thought that
it was a good idea too? Everything that Aaron Rodgers
ever did in the past tense, he can do that.
Anybody around Aaron Rodgers can do that, other players whoever.
(23:10):
You know, the presumption that this is done. It's not done,
so why give anything that complicates the matter to wherever
you were being being led in terms of negotiations where
maybe it was a first and a third, maybe it
was a first and a second or a second and
a third, whatever that combination was going to be. By
(23:33):
speaking of him in the past, says like, all right,
we're resigned to the fact that this is done, and
we hate him and we want to erase him from
all of the banners around town that Trump at the
twenty twenty three season. Is that fair? Everybody feeling good
about that? Wait? Did I just say the quiet part
out loud? Yeah, that's kind of what I think he did.
In that scenario. He was ticked off enough to say, hey,
(23:54):
I'll be over watching girls basketball if you want to
find me, wink wink, And then he said the quiet
bart out loud. I mean, I don't know if I'll
be it at section three eggs at four, I don't
know if I'll be there with a giant yellow flag.
You have no idea, you know, something like the door
group guy like get hair up? Yeah, like that whole
(24:17):
love with that Mark Murphy with a with with arrow
pointing down like right, Mark Murphy's right there. You don't
have a Mark Murphy, Mark Burfey's on the hair. Look,
nobody cares, nobody. I love look. I love the fact
that that that that the packers must listen because hey,
and I'm glad I said it after they blew it,
because now it's not like that, so I can't say
(24:38):
I'm not helping the Jets like I want to help
the Jets make this happen. I didn't want to. I
said it after this happened, so there was no going
back on it now. So that so that was good
because I wanted to accomplish two things. I wanted to,
you know, tell you why this was going to be
a case where the where the packers have lost all
the leverage and the Jets have it and all these things,
and also helped the jet and not hurt the Jets
on their way. I accomplished every. Look at you. I'm
(25:01):
very excited about that, Bunny. See now you can have
a hamburger, Yeah, hamburger. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. What did this guy
hate about the Dodgers so much? Why did they What
did they do that made him hate it? Good? How
(25:24):
who would you be rooting for? If it was Trade
Turner with a chance to win the World Baseball Classic?
Would you be rooting for Trade Turner or Japan? Trade Turner? Really?
Country first? Ye? Okay? All right, very good, very good?
All right? What if it what if it was Pete Alonzo?
Pete Alonzo? Wow? Wow, you're really putting me on the
spot here anyway, What if it was anybody from the
(25:48):
San Francisco Giants enough to crack this roster? Oh that
I'd say? It's what if Jock was on Team Israel?
How'd that work out? Bath? Uh? Uh? So right now,
Jeff McNeil battling with nobody out full count, Mike Trout
(26:10):
will bat this inning. It will turn John Paul Morossi
into a prophet who said, three days ago, how do
I know the World Baseball Classic is gonna come down
to Otani versus Trout with the WBC on the line.
He said that like four days ago, and that's exactly
out makes me think it just got the script right. Well,
(26:30):
it's just JP's got some fever dreams that occasionally come through.
I mean it was what we were all wishing and
hoping for, right, I mean, clearly he's got he's got
the script. He's got the script of this. But and
he'll be joining us from the World Baseball Classic following
its conclusion. Will he be excited? Will he not? Muh
so again? Three? Two Japan with the lead. Oh my lord,
(26:53):
you are ahead of me. You're ahead of me. Are
you loving Jeff McNeil right now? Are you loving Jeff McNeil?
Hang on, I love you. I can't believe you guys
are ahead of me. I'm expecting something big from Jeff McNeil. Now,
let's see full count nobody out. This is exciting because
I know Jeff McNeil does something good. Jeff McNeil Ball four,
(27:14):
he walks, he's screaming at the dug out, let's go.
He's like tight shircing Bobby stacks of Bobby Witt junior
rookie guards that he's able to get around for the
tying run. You didn't tell us McNeil can't run. Let's
controun yo. He got on basse, it doesn't matter. Hey,
I'm fine. I don't want him to get hurt him.
I want him, get him in. You think I want
(27:35):
him to get hurt running the bass. He doesn't need
a ripped hammy in this scenario. And here that comes
the greatest baseball player of all time to the play blee.
They're high fiving Jeff McNeil like he just hit a
game winning he got on base. That's all in, Matt,
Come on, that's Conrodderie. That's the kind of infectious enthusiasm
we need in our sports, all the way down to
(27:55):
our little leagues. I take everything back. So Bobby Witt
Junior is in the game to run for Jeff McNeil,
and now Mookie Bets will bat nobody out runner at
first and a very modest lead for Bobby Junior. He's
not going anywhere. He's like, he's like the kid in
little league who like the ninth batter who walks and
(28:16):
gets the first base and is scared and goes, I
don't want to be too far. Just get off the base,
take a lead, take a lead. No, no, no, I
don't want he's gonna watch it. He just if you're
gonna watch it. Here. I'll never live this one down.
Bleep in Mookie Bets, Oh No. Four six three. Oh no,
(28:38):
So it comes down to Captain America verse Otani. So
I am a real American. So let me tell so,
let me go. After the Mets did their job, the
Dodgers did not, right? Is that? Where does that make
the last minute and a half Worthwhile Mets did their job,
Dodgers did not, right? I am I true with that?
I mean this is everything now though? Am I right
(28:59):
with it? Hey man? We live in a different world
than we did thirty seconds ago. None of that matters,
right now? What do you think? What do you think it?
The first pitch he hits them and Trout charges them
out in they brawl. How great would that be? Complete
WWE inspired event, just boom and he's gonna you know,
I mean, this is this is it? I gotta say,
I'll give it to you. Okay. This is amazing theater.
This is absolutely amazing theater. Ball one to Trout, unbelievable.
(29:26):
Mookie bets a week grounded a second four six three
double play of the United States. Now down to their
last out in the World Baseball Classic, Mike Trout up.
He is one for four tonight, hitting three uh eight
on the WBC. Otani just threw one hundred mile an
hour fastball by Mike Trout to make the count one
(29:47):
and one here in the top of the ninth thinning.
Doesn't look great, Mike Harman doesn't look great. But like
I said, I'm the best World Baseball Classic fan there
is because if the United States loses, I'll move them
on right away. I can move right on. It's okay.
You know, I am kind of a rally monkey in
and of myself. Okay. Uh, I'd like to jump up
and down and scream and get after it. So okay,
(30:09):
it's kind of what I'm doing here in this now.
People like to grab you and put you on their
shoulders and do that. Okay, I didn't. There's a lot
of grab ass that goes on. Okay, all right, we're
grabbing of ass. I mean, whatever the case may be. Okay,
U two and one count to Trout. He took a
low and outside to make a two to one to
make it two and one on the count facing Otani
(30:29):
here in the ninth inning, Um, this is going to
be who Trout just waved at one hundred mile an
hour fastball, make it two and two high fastball that
tailed in, and boy it got a lot more of
the plate than I'm sure Otani wanted. Uh. He got
lucky on that one, even though it was one hundred.
(30:50):
Uh that ball did not tail back as far as
he expected it too. And this is gonna be the
biggest pitch of his life. Right here, I have something
important to see. This will be the Left's time we
pay attention to Trout. No Tani, this is it like
the season starts soon. That's it for them. Yeah. Wow,
at the deadline they trade for Have you ever seen
(31:11):
a line up better than what the United States put
out there? Yeah? These guys joined the Dodgers. Uh, full count,
full count in three to Mike Trout here. That was
ball three that went to the backstop. Uh so again,
the United States could put the tying run at first,
could end it. I think he's gonna better as ball here.
(31:33):
I'm thinking it's gonna be a fast I think I do.
And there it is eighty seven mile an hour curve
and Trout waves at it for strike three. Japan are
your world Baseball Classic? Why do you sound so excited
that they are celebrating on the field right now? And look,
(31:54):
everybody's fine. They're celebrating on the field everybody's fine. Everybody's fine.
Look at that sea looking I'm celebrating. You know what's
not find the way you said that they won. You
were very excited they won. It was the end. I'm
not excited this tight shirts, I mean tight shirts rooting
for Japan. So keep it right here. More on the aftermath,
Mike trout Zero Showho Tani won. This is Fox Sports Radio.
(32:17):
Let's go japt The game's over, the game's over. Suck it,
trout O, Tanny's better. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at

(32:38):
Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon, your ninth
inning World Baseball Classic. In review for Team USA, the
Mets did their job. The Dodgers and the Angels did not.
The entirety of Southern California failed. When the pressure was
on the most Mets did it. The other teams didn't.
I'm a bit sad right now, You're a bit and
(33:00):
we'll just sad. Okay, I'm sadden. Saddened, Okay, got it.
Saddened saddened. Yeah, so I got it. Okay, No, I
mean because look, we celebrate the triumphant resplendent of Mookie
Bleeping Bets all the time, and now it's bleeping Mookie Bets. Yep,
we have to change it. It's no longer a middle name.
(33:21):
M hmmmmmm. But like I said, this is one Mookie
l Bets, right, so now we have to call him
that the rest of the night, Mookie l Bets to
and he's just regular timmy trumpet MOOKI el met about that.
But again, see this is where now you come around
to my to my Well, now with the angels thing,
(33:42):
I mean, nobody, uh, nobody was expecting greatness. There were
they Well I don't know you had Otani, So I
mean I think you thought maybe he would have rubbed
off on somebody, you know what I meant from the
trout side of that. Oh, Okay, I got it. But
but this is why I'm the best World Baseball Classic
fan because now I can let this let's go. We lost.
I was too bad by the way, let it go. Yeah,
(34:04):
but Monkey Bets's middle name really does start with an
elm Lynn Marcus Lynn Mookie Bets, m LB MLB. There
we go. How about that. That guy's gonna be a
baseball player with those MLB MLB. But now you can
move on. It's all it's over. We lost, Okay, you
don't need to be upset the year. How you moving on?
(34:24):
How do you move on? See? No? See that? That's yeah.
You know you have to you have to you gotta
move on. This is what you know again, This is
what I say when I say the reality the World
Baseball Classic is the champagne drives pretty fast. We're back
to reality for me. It's Edwin Diaz is out for
the year. Great, but you can let this go. Yeah,
Japan one, that's great. Awesome, they they won, they won, great,
(34:45):
move on, Let's see what really matters? Well, how do
we wait? No, how do we fix the gap between
us and the rest of the world. Well, you know,
the thing's funny. You say that because Rob Manfred has
an idea about that. The MLB commissioner has an idea
about something he really wants for the next World Baseball Classic,
which I go, we'll get into that in a couple
(35:07):
of minutes. But I'm like, when he said that today,
I said, dude, are you tone deaf. What the hell
is wrong with you? Man? This is what you want
for the next World Baseball? What the hell is wrong? So?
Uh yeah, so already if you're looking for different thing,
Rob Manfred has a great idea to make things even
and maybe level the playing field in the next w Well,
then so we have we have that Twitter and how
