Did he offer you a sandwich? I'm it's the it's

(00:45):
the subway half a sandwich I have left over from
when I came into work early. Okay, it's Mike, you
know to the answer to that question. I had to
ask Jason Smith crushing sandwiches since nineteen seventy four. You
think he's sharing his just come. It's like from Popeye.
I think you just go walk up and while he's
distracted thinking about the mets of the Jets or the Nicks.

(01:08):
You just go and take it. I'm crushing sandwiches, man,
That's all I did. That's your tombstone. I crushed sandwiches

Happy Opening Day. We've made it. Opening Day in Major

(01:55):
League Baseball just a few hours away. The East Coast
is there, Oh, it's Opening Day, Garment. Here come the Mets.
You're copinging day, Here they come. It is that time.
We're fired up. Everybody hope springs eternal at least for
the first three hours, except for you in Metsville, because
well there will be no Narco played. It doesn't matter.

(02:16):
We masures just gonna go the entire way. We're fine.
He did throw what one hundred and two pitches in
his last Yeah, you know spring training again, we need that.
We needed to look at me. Hey, you guys go
three innings, I go one hundred pitches. Let's get I
understand it's what he said he needed. But come on, really,
are we really gonna gonna do that? Come on? Can
we I like it? Now? Bold? We will have more

(02:40):
major leagues. We got a couple of Big Bowl predictions
coming up in a couple minutes when it comes to
the World Series MVP. But how about we tell you
exactly at first of all, congratulations the Sacramento Kings heading
for the play for the first time since two thousand
and six. Been a lot of time last hour on
the show talking about it. If you missed it, our
Best of podcast goes up right after the show is over,
so about an hour now iTunes, the iHeart Radio app,

(03:02):
wherever you listen to podcast, wherever you get it you
can get at The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen.
Will have much more on the Kings and their huge
accomplishment coming up later on Jason, don't forget congrats to
the Jets too. The Jets now own the biggest drought
playoff droute in all of the four major sports. Congratulations Jets.

(03:22):
I went my entire forties without the Jets having a
playoff game. My entire forties, not one playoff game. You'll
have the fifties three now streak. I've already started out
the fifties, haven't had one records drinking. Oh, this is
gonna get the Aaron Rodgers trade done tomorrow. Literally bring
your green hat. But Lamar Jackson had another very incredibly

(03:46):
weird day, and we're gonna tell you not just how,
but when the Lamar Jackson saga is going to end. Uh.
He clapped back again on social media today to critics
who talked about how injured was he really he missed
the playoff game last year for the Ravens. Was he
just making a business decision holding out for his free

(04:09):
agency or for a new team in a big contract.
And he put on Twitter earlier today, quote, let's get real,
I rather have one hundred percent PCL than go out
there and play horrible, forcing myself to put my guys
in a bad situation. Now that's selfish to me. I
don't remember me sitting out on my guys week one
versus the Jets to week twelve versus the Broncos. How

(04:30):
come all of a sudden I sit out because of
money in which I could have got hurt at any
time within that time frame. That's exactly why people are
sing it because you could have played, but he was
waiting for money. So again about the a agent in
this party, he needed an editor. Here's Lamar Jackson again
showing you yes. But we've talked about that. We know
the guy needs an agent. We need somebody that's working

(04:52):
for him to help put the image of Lamar Jackson
out there is someone you want to trade for. He
is only hurting himself. He's hurt himself for a while
and he doesn't se So there's not much we can do.
Because if you're going to continue to represent yourself, not
be able to make phone calls, not make sure that
you're being presented in the right light, you're talking to
family friends, this is how it's going to go. Teams
want to know they can trust you, that you're not

(05:13):
a wild card. But we've talked about that and Lamar
Jackson clearly wants to go down this road. So this
is what it's going to be. So instead I'll tell
you exactly how and when this is going to end up,
because that's the right question, not where is he going,
but how and when this is going end They'll tell
you exactly how this is going to go. At this point,
no one's going to make the trade for him. No

(05:33):
one's going to give him two hundred and fifty million
dollars guaranteed and surrender two first round picks. It's not
going to happen because the team would have done so
because Lamar Jackson is not going to go back to
the Ravens. So you could have had him, but you didn't.
So you know, the teams, that is too big of
a price tag for them. It's not that there's no
price tag for Lamar Jackson. That's a big one. So
Lamar Jackson is gonna have to come off that. It's

(05:54):
gonna have to come down to maybe a three year,
forty some odd million guaranteed, maybe a three year one
hundred thirty one hundred and thirty five million dollars guaranteed.
He's gonna have to come down to that. So that's
what's going to happen. But still teams are looking at
three years, one hundred thirty five million. We don't know
if he's gonna be healthy. He hasn't been healthy in
a couple of years where we know he can count
on him. And we got to trade two first round picks.

(06:16):
So nothing's going to happen now because there's no market
for him. There's nobody who wants a trade for him.
He's only linked with the Colts because they said, well, yeah,
wouldn't anybody want to be the Colts wat him? The
Colts waded, Okay, that's not enough, right. Teams are gonna
go through the draft and they're gonna get their quarterbacks,
and teams are going to get quarterbacks at one and two.
The Cults are gonna get a quarterback at four. Another

(06:37):
team he needs a quarterback is gonna get one at
eight or nine. And then you're gonna go through the
post draft and Lamar Jackson's still going to be a
Raven and the Ravens are gonna think, well, now he's
got no choice, because Ravens have done this the entire time. Well,
now he's got no choice. He's got to play under
the franchise tag for us. Except Lamar Jackson is not
going to play under the franchise tag. He's not a
guy doing everything he's doing so he can say, Okay,

(06:59):
you got me, I'll go play thirty five million dollars
a year for you this year. No, there's too much
bad stuff has passed, and what too much stuff has
gone on the fact that he puts out a tweet
saying I want a trade when thirty two head coaches
sitting down to breakfast the owners meeting. This is a
guy that wants out. He's not going to go back
to play for the Ravens. So that's how this is

(07:20):
going to play out all through the off season. Lamar
Jackson is he going anywhere, so I'm making a trade
for him. He's under the franchise tag. He is not
going to go there. He has played his last down
as a Raven so he's not gonna report and then
things are gonna get weird, and then you're gonna see
team come in and go mmmmm, all right. Now, maybe
it's just a first round pick and we take Lamar

(07:42):
for a year. If you really want out, Lamar, we'll
take you. We'll trade Baroli, gonna got the first round pick.
You're gonna come in and you're gonna play one year
under this thirty two million dollars you're gonna make for
the franchise tag or something around there, and we'll sign
you for one year and a prove it deal. You
come here, show us that you're a great back in
the you can stay healthy, and then we'll talk a

(08:02):
big contract next year. And Lamar Jackson's gonna have to
have a prove it year with his new team, which
he will go have a prove it year with his
new team. He's just not gonna do it with the
Ravens where there's too much bad blood. But a new team, Okay,
I'll trust to you that you're gonna make a trade
for me and come into playing. You're gonna want to
keep me, and it doesn't matter because if I prove
I can stay healthy for seventeen weeks, someone else is
gonna not. Okay, now it's safe to go. Get Lamar

(08:24):
Jackson for three or four years and two hundred million
dollars guarantee whatever it's gonna be. So he's gonna have
to go to a new team. He will accept a
trade and it will be for He'll play one year
for thirty two wish million dollars and then he'll hit
try to hit free agency the beginning of next year
and cash in then. But that's how it's going to
and it's gonna be a long drawn out process. The
Ravens are gonna think the he's gonna come back, he's not.

(08:47):
And then when it gets to training camp, when a
team is gonna want their quarterback in whether they it
didn't work or suddenly there now infatuated with Lamar Jackson,
who's got a clean bill of health, and we're only
got to trade one first round pick and if we
play well, it's not a high pick, and we only
have to pay him for one year. We can pay
him a year after now. Suddenly then Lamar Jackson will
be much more desirable than he is right now. That's

(09:09):
how it ends for Lamar Jackson, some kind of big
eve of training camp type trade where Lamar goos someplace
else in a prove it year, tries to hit free
agency and get a big, long term deal in early
twenty twenty four. Well, it certainly doesn't behoove anybody to
go and spin the wheel right now. I mean, as
much as you love the player that is Lamar Jackson,

(09:29):
you have to go and look at this. And again
we've said this, but the audience has always changed, and
so we reiterate. It's the love of Lamar Jackson, the player,
but recognizing that with him comes not only the enigma.
What do you always say, the enigma wrapped in the enigma,
wrapped in a mystery, shrouded in a riddle. As long
as you have shrouded and WWE Superstar Riddle in the mix,

(09:54):
we've all won decorated with question marks. No, that's right,
you gotta have just like my outfit. Come Halloween and
I go as Jim Carrey as the Riddler with that
cool little bowler hat. But the the idea is that
for Lamar, you've got so much working right, never let
it get personal. And that's where the agent comes in
as the buffer. You're not going to solve that completely,

(10:14):
but certainly you're you're having the conversation and then when
the phone isn't ringing, well, now you're taking it personally
on a whole other level. Because the the agent, the agency,
they can lie to your ask for an entire month
or two of we're just building momentum, building up the offers,
and unless he says categorically had I need to see

(10:35):
the offer sheets and whatever? Uh that that you could
probably get away for a month with that of a
little liar's poker going on. But now he's now in
his fields, right, he's responding to any video people put out.
Here's a bunch of highlights of you. Oh I remember that,
look at that throw, look at the you know, those
kind of things, and propping him up against anything else.

(10:57):
It's it's what the market bears. Teams have to make
cap space and adjust offenses and strategy and personnel to
bring in a guy like Lamar. It's not a hey,
you know what, we'll bring in for a year while
we retro fit everything else around you. Yeah, that's gonna work,
because isn't that what he just did in Baltimore? Why

(11:18):
the hell wouldn't you just go play there? I know. Look,
and now the story's going to just sort of fade away,
Like how many more days are we going to talk
about Lamar Jackson? Yeah, here says this. He says that
it's gonna start to fade down because there's no action
and it's baseball season. Baseball starts tomorrow. Baseball and NBA
is getting close to the playoffs now, and you can
only go so long with no news before you move

(11:40):
on from a topic. And just Lamar Jackson tweeting about
his situation saying, hey, don't believe that I'm great. That's
not gonna do it, and no teams are gonna go
for him right now. Just not gonna happen. I mean,
we are now getting to the point where we're a
month away from the draft and no one, no one
suddenly deciding let's blow up our draft board to go

(12:00):
get Lamar Jackson. Not gonna happen unless the Ravens have
a big change of heart and say, okay, we will
sign him and trade him to you, and we don't
need two first round picks anymore. We just want one
first round pick in a second or unless the Ravens
come off of what they're they're what they would want
back in a deal and Lamar Jackson comes down off
of what he wants guaranteed. I mean, but is that

(12:21):
really gonna happen? No, So you're gonna this week, the
Lamar Jackson story is gonna fade, and it's gonna kind
of will kind of get updates and blips and hey,
what's going on? In the offseason. But yeah, this has
all the the the the hallmarks of a camp beginning
eve of camp type trade where finally both sides kind
of panic a little bit, a team decides to go

(12:42):
in on him, and the Ravens aside, we just want
to move on because it's gonna be a whole off
season of waiting as Lamar, I don't know, and John
Harbor is gonna have to answer quards go I don't know,
I don't know, I don't know. Let's just get rid
of the guy already. I mean, that's how it's gonna go.
So it's gonna fade, and that's how it ends, and
the picks get kicked down the road to twenty four
and twenty five and everything. Look in the summary of this,

(13:04):
my thesis statement would be both sides got what they wanted,
but there have to be winners and losers. Lamar got
to go test and go see if he could find
his massive two hundred and fifty million dollar bag. Didn't happen.
Ravens said, this is what we can offer you. Here's
your non exclusive go out into the marketplace, and right

(13:26):
now they're being affirmed. And this is where people start
clamoring for it with claims of collusion and whatever else.
But it's the reality of all right, they got shown
for their strategy of they were only going so high. Yeah,
go go find it in the marketplace and then we'll
talk all. He hasn't found anybody to come up with
a sheet just yet. Be sure to catch live editions

(13:47):
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. Jets are getting Aaron
Rodgers soon. The Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers sumed the
Mets win. It's Opening Day for everybody. Coming Fox Sports
Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike
Harmon Hobo live from the tirerack dot Com studios, where

(14:12):
we are inching closer to Opening Day in Major League Baseball,
no longer inching closer. Sacramento Kings. They have reached the
playoffs since two thousand and six. That drought is over.
Everybody on Twitter is celebrating. Tell You Party in Sacramento,

(14:33):
and California's capital is off the hook right now. I
think everybody's gonna be off from school tomorrow. It's gonna
be great. Cowbell and now the longest drought in the
four major sports of not making the playoffs belongs to
the Jets. Get you two thousand and ten. Congratulations, you
did it. Since Mark Sanchez quarterback the Jets too. Four

(14:57):
road playoff wins in two years, more than a Indiana
for If Nate Cating isn't born, that doesn't happen. He's
not born. Back to back, I didn't realize how good
I had it. Back to back AFC championship games, two losses,
two games it probably should have won. And then that's
been it. My entire forties was a drought. It was

(15:17):
a drought. I was there. It was like we had nothing,
not even one year or close. In twenty sixteen, Ryan
Fitzpatrick and he threw three picks in the fourth quarter
against the Bills and that was it. That wasn't you
had a chance? Uh? One year I had part of
a chance and one part of a chance. That's not good, Mike,
Come on, man, that's not good. One Bears fan, What
do you want from me? One year I had part
of a chance. I'm just living on eighty five. You

(15:40):
jacket living on nineteen sixty nine. It was before I
was born. At least you had Rex Grossman in the
Super Bowl, Mike did juper rexy baby. The Jets are
an organization living off a one win, one in the
entire organization, one win, yet they're still worth billions of dollars.
I know, right, amazing. There you go, America, Thank you,
Joe uh So. Yeah, and now the Jet and now listen,

(16:04):
this is how it's gonna go. Like everybody's gonna wake
up tomorrow and the Jets beat reporters are gonna go
give me something really harsh and negative. I could ask
the Jets, oh yeah, they have the drought. Now, this
is gonna get the Aaron Rodgers trade done so fast,
so incredibly fast. I can't even tell you you're really
hoping that. They just really lean into it. On TV
and Ray Yeah, yeah, yeah, Sametello and Serbie are all

(16:28):
asking Robert sala, hey, you got this drought since twenty ten?
Heard that Yahoo? Jason Smith on the radio saying you
wasted his entire forties. How do you feel about that?
What are you gonna make this trade? We're gonna get
this trade done right now. Call it backers, right now,
get this trade done right now. Well stole his forties
and a piece of his soul and like Sala's got it,

(16:50):
like in a briefcase like Marcella s. Wallace and pulp fiction.
You open up in a clothes that's beautiful. Look, you know,
like de Mentors, they were there. You start doing your
whole prison Mike speech. Okay, there you go. I'm an
ask a man suddenly, Okay, sports ask a man? All right?
I like that. Okay, Yeah, what do you got fam
gonna feel when they give Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, Solomon

(17:11):
Thomas and the one for Aaron Rodger. Yeah, that's what's
gonna happen. That's gonna happen tomorrow morning. Sure, and in
Solomon David Putney because I felt like that's gonna happen.
It's gonna happens. He is he really? H you know
he just started uh you know he uh no, someh happen?
Oh he a Facebook requested me as a friend not
too long ago, and he's dying to come on the show.

(17:33):
Sure is he really? I don't have the heart to
tell him, Well you have you have, Ladi Divats. I
can't believe you didn't get Vlody on the show tonight.
You can text him. We could have him on. It's
the Sacramento case. I'm waiting for a big moment in
their franchise. This is a start. Now, if this was
the Lakers after a victory, they'd be putting streamers and
banners and everything else going on. Baby steps, Doctor Leo,

(17:56):
Marvin babysat er. Yeah, Doctor Rich Priests preaches that, no question.
So with tomorrow being Opening Day in Major League Baseball,
got some big, bold predictions to throw your way right now. Now,
remember last year, it's the last time I got to
say this. Last year, I told you the Yankees are
going to the World Series and Hard Judge is gonna
win the MVP. And boy that was a well not

(18:17):
a trifecta and exacta that really almost came through right.
The Yankees just fell one, one step short, and Aaron
Judge won the MVP. I didn't think he was gonna
hit you know, sixty five home runs, but he won.
Tod's gonna win the MVP. He won the MVP. The
Yankees were so close and they gacked it away. And
then Goldschmidt went and won the MVP, but he failed America.

(18:40):
So it's a wash. There we go. You won, but
you failed America. You failed America in your biggest moment
of your career. So I'm gonna give you a big,
bold prediction for this year because it's it's kind of
in the same vein of Yankees are going to the
World Series, Aaron Judge is gonna win MVP, okay, the

(19:00):
Mariners are going to the World Series, okay, and Julio
Rodriguez is gonna win MVP. All right, he is nine
to one right now. That's what's happening right now. First
of all, for Jay Rod, he has that it factor
about him and what he did in such a short
time last year proving how good he is. He's surrounded

(19:20):
by even more talent this year. They went out and spent,
they brought They can have four guys at thirty home
runs on the team and it wouldn't even it would
it wouldn't be a thing that you would go, wow,
I can't believe. Now they got four guys could wind
up hitting thirty home runs, you're knocking, and one of
them is not Jared kell Nick. All right, So there's that.
But you have even if he doesn't come in, doesn't
show up, and kell Nick's not the start there everything
now he's ready. Now, he's okay, let's see him. Been

(19:42):
hearing that for three years now, You're not gonna be
able to pitch around him. You can't avoid him. And
the Mariners are gonna jump out to a big lead
because the Astros, even though the defending champs, they got problems, right,
they got to replace Justin Verlander. There's you're talking about
no Jose l Twove for at least a couple of months.
The Mariners are loaded, a full season of Luis Castillo.

(20:04):
They're they're starting pitching Max matches up with everybody. The
Mariners are loaded. They are absolutely loaded. They're gonna take
everybody by surprise. They're gonna roll through the American League
and it's the Mariners in the World Series and Jay
Roger MVP BOOKT. I dig that because if that were
to happen, giving my trading card hobby and obsession, I

(20:27):
go and I get to buy a lot of sandwiches
for people because of Julio Rodriguez sandwich. Alright, with that said,
my American League pick, I'm gonna go out of the
East and forego your Yankees and Aaron Judge, who's currently
at seven to one but not my Yankee, They were
my Yankees and Aaron Judge last year. This is a
new year in my Carmen, This a new year we
did last year. Yeah, it's a new day yesterday, but

(20:49):
it's an old day now. There you go. I got,
I got a Jethro tull line. In honest, that wasn't
about snots running down a note, I thought, or or
or feeling like a dead duck now neither that. I
really didn't know what I'm saying. Is that a that
year's well? I know you I go? Is that Harman
saying that? Or is that a a old time seventies
rioting that day yesterday? But it's an old day now.

(21:16):
I mean that could also be fight a flute. It
could also be a new Toby Keith song that's also
got the same kind of same. It's what exactly I'm
looking at the Blue Jays and and Vadimir Guerrero, who's
sitting at anywhere between twelve and fourteen to one, depending
on where you're shopping today. Uh, for your odds looking
going along the same lines, if yours a lot of power, uh,

(21:39):
and the pitching staff back end of the rotation. Some questions,
but we we look across the East flawed and a
lot of cannibalism. Is that? Think what's going to happen here?
Yankees relying on some youth infusion. That is the Orioles,
uh called to battle here? And then the Red Sock sir, well,

(22:00):
not quite the Red Sox that we remember, but good
enough to mess things up, so fun times ahead. And
then the Tampa Bay Rays. We'll still win ninety games
even though nobody will be able to tell you who's
on the squad. Everybody in the Al East is gonna
win ninety games that year. But it's but it is
gonna be one of those things. Who dominates outside the
division is Oh hey, no, dude, let me tell you.

(22:24):
I'll be honest with you. Beat the hell out of
each other. The pennant race, something that's gonna be the
best pennant race in baseball is going to be the
AL East because there's so many good teams. The Orioles
and all their young talent they have. They made a
big run last year. If they didn't have that horrendous start,
you're talking of a team that would be knocking on
the door to win the division. That division is loaded.

(22:44):
I'm looking forward to seeing that. I don't want to
see the Nalyast Pennant race because I'm gonna be gripping
my ass off on it going. Oh man, another day.
The Phillies won Thekes one day, closing to Bryce Harper
coming back. But the Al East, oh yeah, you get Yankees,
Blue Jays Orioles. You know? Ever know about the Red
Sox the race, that's going to be some kind of penning, right,
that'll be the best pennant race in all the divisions.

(23:05):
I will tell you we'll get to August and we'll
say four teams can still win that division. That's all that. Now,
I'm gonna tell you what, four teams can still win
that division sometime in August. That's how good. So we
did the American League. So that was fun and exciting.
Aren't you just issuing the NL just saying it's Mets, Mets, Mets.

(23:26):
It was assumed, No, we we we got we got
the American League tonight, we have the National League. Baseball
starts tomorrow. It's too late. We just assumed you were
rolling with the Mets. Yes, one game, oh they're and
one No, I'm not picking that. Fine. I lost their
first game I'm not picking them. Well yeah, dude, dude,
you know, I don't want to say this, but look
at the all time records for teams on opening What

(23:49):
do you want me to tell me? Who has the
best record in the history of baseball on opening? So
you'll go one, one sixty one, okay? All right, Well
that's okay. We're telling a hell of a run and
then and then you know what, because we're fine because
then we get Caleb Williams at the end of it,
So then we're then we're good the Mets. Yeah, we're
taking for Caleb Williams. He does have a big arm. Yeah,
because you can't. He'll be the guy coming in and

(24:09):
did throwing that ball one hundred fifty when Diaz can't
come back. He could be the closer. Dad. What are
they gonna do about Narcos? How else are they gonna
get their fans excited? David Robertson's gonna pick a new song,
and I think he's gonna picks something about Nickelback. No,
he's gonna pick no. Stop that was unfair? Did you
just unfair? So? Jason? Yeah, Ti shirt, No, you owe

(24:33):
me a dollar, right? Uh? And in doing so, Yeah,
you only give meinety five cents, I said, Jason, I
have ten more cents on the ground here I'll give
you to give to me. But then what am I
gonna have to give you back? What the hell are
you talking? Why do you say it's a dollar and
you give me ninety five And then you realized, oh wait,

(24:54):
I didn't get it, So let me say I did
I give it another dime. This is what you have
to say. I learned in Riverside. You have to I
could do the simple way, Jason, Jason, I owe you
a dollar, I give you ninety five cents. Tell us
you give me back, you know, yeah, yeah, that's the
way you do it. Because jokes have to be people
have to be able to follow them. Not if I
have a dollar and you owe me ninety five cents.

(25:15):
And then I realized I'd pick up a dime off
the ground. And Adrian, I don't want to do a
math that do good? Well? I did math good. I
just elongated it. Oh that I did math good. That
was failing English and the problem. That was a horrible joke.
That's a you're you're a bad joke teller. A Riverside
Elementary everybody. That was the worst joke every It wasn't

(25:42):
a joke. Now you still didn't get it right. It's
not supposed to be right. You know what it was,
you know what it was. It was? It was it
was a one of the is a long equation? Right,
that's like a whole math prus, a written a written
what is it a written equation? Right? That's what it
was a problem where yeah, a written word problem. And
and you failed on the written word. I wasn't trying
to pass. The kids would look at it and go,

(26:02):
mister ty shirt, I don't understand this question. Why I
gave you a dollar and you gave me ninety five
cents byke, but then I find another diamond. How much
money would you have to get me back to be
equal to five cents? I don't understand, mister ty shirt.
Don't call my mom at school of Napoleon Divonne. Don't
call my mom and tell me the defect in this
cup is bleach. Please don't call my mom. Please don't

(26:23):
do it. I don't want to get in trouble. It's
pretty much in Twitter and out about a fresca Mike
and swollen down the chase. I'm here, so I don't
get fine. My best friend Mike comments, there you go
some big, bold predictions for Major League Baseball. They will
either love or hate me in Seattle, picking the Mariners
to go to the World Series and Jay Rod to
be the MV I can never go back. I already

(26:44):
have some people in Seattle going, you really had to
do that to me and my team's have people already
upset about it, But hey, why are they upset? Because
I was right last year. I gave you Aaron Judge
and the Yankees, and boy it was so close. I
think you'll take that same kind of year this year. Hey,
Fenley did that to doctor Rich yesterday talking about his astecs,
no about his band as. Okay, okay, the ass Okay.

(27:08):
I want to make sure because you kind of just
like rolled right through that. Okay, you know what. I
had my my dental surgery this morning. Okay, I'm lisp
my mouth is still swollen, okay, trying to rally through.
So now you're not you're swollen mouth. So trying to
say astecs didn't quite work right now, it still didn't
work well for you. Right there, I got new, you
know what, and that's what I said, you know, kiss

(27:32):
my asstech. Hey, John, what's John Wicks profession? What does
he do for a living? He's a what ass ass? Wow?
Just a sandwich? I thought it was a dog Watch
John Wick ass he Avenges the Deaths of Dogs, Punisher

(27:56):
for Dogs. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,

Whoa Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen

Hey John Wick four, Hey, this might be the you know,

(28:18):
the last movie in the franchise we like we're doing
now suddenly it's hey, you made all kinds of money man,
John Wick five. Yeah, we're thinking about it. Yeah, let's
get John Wick five ready. Yeah? Him is Robert Downey Junior? Money? Yeah?
You mean my percentage on the back end? Man, I'll
tell you Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Time Now for the play

(28:40):
of the night. Play. The Night, of Course, is brought
to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive Making Things even easier.
They'll help you bundle your home and car insurance together
so you can save on both. Learn more at Progressive
dot com or call one eight hundred Progressive. Well, normally
this is a time where we'd play the Lakers and
you'd hear Billy macko oh, the Streamers are coming, the

(29:00):
Lakers are in five hundred. However, when you end a
seventeen year playoff drought, like the Sacramento Kings did earlier
tonight in their huge win by forty over the Blazers,
you get to be the play of the night. End.

(29:20):
Think about John Wick three walking through the desert, chopping
off his finger, going to meet halle Berry. When you
hear the final call, the horn sounds, and for the
first time in seventeen years, sixteen seasons of frustration, sixteen
years of wandering in the desert looking for that oasis,

(29:41):
the Kings have finally found the sparkling waters, the palm trees.
It's not a mirage, it's the real deal. Sacramento has
clinched first round home court advantage in the playoffs that
will be starting in a couple of weeks. Should twenty.
You're eighty, you know everybody's got their own stock Burg

(30:04):
King's radio network on the call, everybody's got their own spy. Well,
it's not like this is a surprise. We knew this
was coming for at least there be a rudy. You
should have been smashing crap in the background. Damn right way,
ringing the cow bell as it's going, look at what
we're doing. Maybe because they were on the road, they
felt bad for Portland because Portland's only playing with two

(30:26):
players a game now after shutting down into choice. It's
a bold strategy. Let's see how it plays out. It's like, hey,
I'm I'm sorry. We're winning. I'm I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.
But well i'm excited about I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
We're winning and you're losing. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry, so sorry, so sorry. The King's win,
they break this playoff drought. Mike Brown is now answering

(30:47):
questions after the game, and it's a big, big night
in the NBA. But let me tell you this, because
we've said this, we said this a few weeks ago,
and it's even more true tonight. Is that there's one
choice for coach of the Year in the NBA and
it should be unanimous, and it's Mike Brown. All right,
there's other guys that have done really good jobs over

(31:08):
the course of the year, right, Other teams that we
didn't think we're gonna play well that had issues that
are that are doing things. You had a big coaching
change with the Celtics. Here they are near the top
of the East. But the Celtics have a couple of
big time superstars on the team. So okay, the Nuggets
are at the top of the West because oh, you know,
they're finally up there, like well, you know, they kind
of have a guy that's going the MVP for three

(31:28):
years in a row. So yeah, look at Memphi's gonna
be the two seed. Well, they kind of have a
big time superstar and John Moran. The Kings have some
very nice players. Do they have any superstars? They don't.
They have nice players. And what Mike Brown has done,
you know, it was great talking to Mark mdein about
it tonight. NBA dot Com inside are saying, listen, he's
done things that you just don't think make a big deal,

(31:50):
but they do, like shortening practice time and being economical
with what they do on the court and practice, and
the players love him for that. The moves that they
made that were critic a size that turned out for him,
getting Sabonis in a trade turned out to be really,
really good. And look at the Kings. They have not
just qualified for the playoffs, they're going as a three seed,

(32:11):
as a three seed for a team that finished at
the bottom of the Western Conference for sixteen years in
a row. And here comes to Mike Brown in year
one and he doesn't just make it, he flips the
script entirely, and they're going in as a three seed again.
Other guys have done great jobs. You know, TIBs has
done a great job for the Knicks this year. Okay,
nobody has done what Mike. He should get every single ball.

(32:34):
That's why it should be. Anybody who vote for someone
other than Mike Brown, I'm like, you're voting for a
friend of yours because he's the guy that should win it.
And it shouldn't be close. Now, Julie is an amazing run.
And you know, as we talked about a little bit
earlier in the show to bring it back, is this
was a squad that could have fractured very easily. Instead,
they leaned in and leaned into what Brown was trying
to build there, and now you've got what six guys

(32:57):
averaging double figures. Rookie comes in playing great ball in Murray.
You look at Deer and Fox. He was supposed to
be a Laker, right, He was supposed to be in
this next era of the Lakers are back, and it
was supposed to be his team, like Lucius Fox helped Batman.
It was supposed to be Deer and Fox bringing Lebron

(33:18):
James greatness at this late stage of his run with
the Lakers. And instead you've got a squad that's now
seated third. And given the topsy turvy nature of the West,
color me intrigue to see how this plays. Batman, did
you just put a break between bat and Man? I

(33:38):
even tell me that bat Man the Batman? Well, it
was the I was slowing down purposefully since ty Shirt
left the last one, the first reference alone, So I
circled back again. Ty Shirt's been busy all night playing Farmville.
He keeps giving me those requests on fas join to
join Farmville. She has invited you to join Farmville. And

(34:02):
I will tell you this if if he did offer
you one of those origins and you didn't take it,
then you're a fool. They are amazing, don'tlicious. All I
know is Tight Shirt walked through the studio once tonight
carrying his own blender that he brought from home and
a bunch of stuff that I didn't even know what
it was. And you told me the the fire department
was here last night. Now, I'm pretty sure it's probably

(34:23):
Tish's fault. No, no, no, I'm pretty sure it's Tight
Shirt's fault. I'm pretty sure he unplugs the He unplugs
the the microwave and puts other things and plugs other
things in. It's like it's his own kitchen, hey man.
And you know the fire department was here less and
we get excellent performance night in, night out from Ty
Shirt because he's comfortable and he's made this his own.

(34:46):
Hey Harmon, can you talk about Tisher's performance tonight? Can
talk about the perform performance? We're gonna se rate the
biggest losers in sports right now. The Jets playoff traut continues.
