(00:48):
Now a little bit more in the Rudy Gobert story
before we get into Lamar Jackson. Gobert has been suspended
for the play in game against the Lakers tomorrow night
after throwing a punch at a teammate. And before you
get it, before you get the the the ins and
outs and the big things from this, I want you
to I want to hear the call. This is the
Timberwolves radio network that had the call of the punch

(01:12):
on the sideline that You've seen the video and it's amazing.
It's shocking. Both both he and Anderson are going back
and forth. They're talking about guarding each other and blocking
shots and who should do that, and Gobert gets upset
and throws a punch. But listen to the play by
play of the t Wolves, guys, it's like, yeah, seeing
this thing a million times regular season finale and we

(01:34):
got a scuffle on the Timberwolves bitch Anderson and Rudy Gobert.
That's just something you don't see every day. I know,
the tensions played in this game. You've been in a
lot of heated battles. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know what
I'm saying. That was almost like Jim Nance announcing, you know,

(01:54):
a flop shot on twelve and oh, that's a good
up and down there by John Ron. He is now
going to be about forty feet away for a potential
birdie attempt. And the next time you'll see Brooks kept
guys on the Jim Jim on the cross Rock. Jim,
did you see that, Jim? The guy threw a punch
in is the thinnest teammate Jim des Bryant never did

(02:16):
that to me. I'd have to drug through punche of death. Wow, Jim,
did you see that? Jim Jim Chip? I mean, that's
the thing. Wouldn't you expect some elevation, some inflection of
the artists? Here? There we go. It's like, all right,
oh you're ten bucks. This happened actually on the court,
Jim Jim. How much do you hate to live golfers? Jim, Jim?
How much do you want to throw a punch to
live golfer? How much you hate them? Jim Jim, Jim Jim,

(02:37):
Come on, Jim, tell the truth. How much do you
really hate him? Jim? Come on, Jim tell me? Jim
Jim Chip, Chip. Sometimes their words betrayed them, But yeah,
this one is very much a all right, what's been
brewing all year? What's behind the scenes here? What kind
of little chippiness? If we've been waiting to boil over?
Because there doesn't seem to be any element of spout artists? Now,

(03:00):
Oh yeah, I expected I expected that, Yeah yeah, yeah,
going off and see this like even that he didn't
sell with a high enough inflection in his voice to
take me believe that this was honey done off and
see fights between teammates on the sidelines. But hey, time out, Hey,
this time I brought brought to you by Hardy's Hey
coming up later on this week. If we hold the

(03:20):
opposition to under ninety nine points, you get a free
shaking um. So it's very weird hearing it here describe
that way. And there's been a lot of conversation about
this action by Gobert swinging at his teammate, and it
comes down to this, according to according to many sources,
is that they had argued back and forth about getting

(03:42):
rebounds and blocking shots. And what preceded the punch was
Anderson telling Gobert, you know, shut up to and he
used the B word, like go blank blank you and
he used the B word, and that's what triggered Rudy
Gobert to throw a punch. And there's situations I completely

(04:02):
understand where trigger words happen and you lose control of
your emotions and it happens all at once. Now, if
you're hearing something from a fan, then you gotta just
let that go right, Okay, you know a fan says something,
you gotta let that go all right. A fan this
is gonna say something idiotic, trying to provoke you all
the time. That's different now, but something on the court. Yeah,
I get that. There are trigger words and and you

(04:25):
lose control and you can see where, oh I didn't
like being called that for whatever reason, and you have
no reasoning at that moment and you lash out. So
I get it. I completely underest because I've seen there
was a guy that wanted to fight me in a
softball game. This is a rec league softball game a
few years ago, because I called him a meathead, right,

(04:45):
and he wanted to fight me, and he because I
called because I was looking for something to say. Okay,
all right, So I'm not surprised that someone would want
to fight you at What do you mean? Whoa? Whoa?
I was a really good team. I was a really Hey,
I'm Angel Reese. I'm the captain. I was a guy.
I gotta make decisions. I'm the captain. I'm the captain.

(05:06):
You're you're a smart ass by profession. Yeah, but I
was a leader one on some twenty five plus years.
What great leader you are and all these other things
you want to ascribe to yourself. The fact of the
matter is sarcasm doesn't always read the same way to
people who aren't really wanting sarcasm in the moment or
don't understand sarcasm. There's a lot of people that it's

(05:29):
just lost on them. So you calling someone a meat
head is about a nanocuous a term as it can be. Okay,
but it just takes the wrong guy at the wrong
time to act like a mead heead. Okay, couple of
couple of things. Number one, I was a leader of
this team. Number two, I hit eight hundred every single year.
Number three, I won four titles in seven years. Okay,
just you believe any of these deads I have so many.

(05:53):
Steve de Segers are a resident stack guy I got.
He's shaking his head, going, there's no chance in hell.
I got people that could call you, that can confirm that,
that can confirm that easily. That's a that's a team
that James Worthy played a couple of games for us on.
When he was playing, it was awesome. He can barely move.
We know he didn't need to. He would hit the
ball and would take like three steps him to get
to first base. He was like, wow, that's fast. Oh

(06:17):
my goodness, look at worthy get around. They don't, dude,
I said the first time, I said, he had this
big corkscrew stance where he would look you know, he's
you know, he's six ten, but he looked like he
was like five. James Worthy. And he hits this line
drive over the first He hits a line drive over
the first baseman's head and it's going kind of into
the corner and it's one of those where that's a double.

(06:37):
And really it takes him like the I'm watching him,
We're all watching him around the bases like I'm watching
God right now, because it's taking him three steps, he said,
first base, three steps at second base he had a
home run. I think he took about twelve steps around
the bases. They barely got the ball back to the info.
I was like wow, and I said, dude, you could
have been a baseball starting as well. The problems have

(06:58):
to hit the ball every time. I said, oh, okay,
I got it, got it, got it, gotta Did he
light a cigar as he rounded up? No, no, no, no,
he was not. But watching him run the base in
a big clop, Dude, it was no, it was it
was just out. I could still see it. I could
still see those strides like I need like eight strides
of my little tiny feet, uh to be able to
get that because I run like I got I got that. Yeah,

(07:19):
I got short legs. I got a long torso and
short legs. I run like one of those little dogs.
And I'm like, oh man, but listen, so now you
know how good I played in the team. But secondly,
so here's what happened. We were playing a game and
it was right near the end of the regular season,
and my mom was actually at the game. So I
felt bad that this happened in front of my mom.
But then again, my mom, you know, she still loved me.
She knew what she was. So you called somebody a

(07:41):
meathead in front of your mom. Yeah, Well, here's the
thing is, we were playing and we know we were
beating him pretty bad, and we were coming up to bat,
like in the top of the seventh inning. We were
beating him like fifteen to three something like that, and
this one guy on the other team who was a meathead,
and I called him mere because he was just kept
talking the whole game. Was upset, we were we were
losing all this stuff, blah blah blah, and we're getting

(08:02):
ready to hit in the seventh inning, and he finally
he just says, he goes, yeah, he goes, you guys,
and he says something to the effect of the effect
of yeah, you guys, just you guys, just wait. Yeah,
you're you're winning tonight, but you just wait until the playoffs.
And the way the playoffs worked was the top team
played the team in last place and the second place
team and you had like like an NCAA tournament type things.
That's how it went playoffs. So I I said, do

(08:25):
you think you're gonna make it far enough to play
us in the playoffs? And he and he goes and
all of a sudden, like I don't know if he
didn't hear it, or the guys on this on the
team to hear. They go, everybody makes the playoffs. So
I don't know, you don't even know the league or
you're talking about Like at this point, I've been in
the league for like three or four years. I knew
it was going on. And they're going, no, you don't know,
you don't know what you're talking everybody makes the playoffs.
And I said, listen, meathead, I know everybody makes it,

(08:47):
but you're not gonna make it long enough to playoffs.
You lose in your first game. And he said what
you say? And he comes out of the dugout. He's
walking over to me, and I'm going, okay, I'm gonna
have to fight this guy in front of my mom.
But he's a little bit shorter than I am. He's
a little bit more musky. What's gonna happen here? I
have a bat in my hand, so maybe this can help.
Because I'm on the on deck circle and he comes over.
He comes over, ready to take him down. The thing is,

(09:08):
he comes over and he kind of starts walking slow,
like I don't really want to fight. Like I could
tell when he started walking over, like oh, he he
wants to fight, and then he starts slowing down like okay,
he wants people getting in the middle. And then people
got in the middle. It didn't happen. Everything got everything.
Cooler heads prevailed. But I could see the look in
his eye when I called him a meathead that he
was just really I could have said you jerk. I
could have said you dirt bag. You know, I could

(09:29):
have any anyone, any anyone of innocuous things, because I
knew I didn't want to say anything. Really. I didn't
want to curse in front of my mom because that
would have been really so I called him so I
called him a meat head, and he's like Archie Bunker
you meeted and so As. I got and As a
meathead and he just got really mad about that and said, okay,
well that was a big trigger word for him. I

(09:49):
called him a meathead. He wanted to come and fight me.
So I get it. I get I get that that happens.
I get this. It doesn't always need to be a
big time. It doesn't need to be something racial, doesn't
even be something that is a curse word. It doesn't matter.
You say the wrong word the wrong time, and and
someone just a flip just switches and saying you don't

(10:10):
call them. You don't get to call me that and
get away with it like that's a word where a
five walk away from you, people go, oh, that guy
got the best of you. I understand that there are
words like that that happen, So I get them. When
Anderson called Gobert the B word, that was Gobert saying okay,
for whatever, this is what triggered me, and he throws
a punch at him. So I'm not saying I don't
condone it, but I understand that there are words like

(10:31):
that that happen, and you can't control your emotions sometimes
and especially Look, you don't know what kind of relationship
these guys have, and not that you have to get
it be in a great relationship with everybody you play
sports with. But for most of us, we play sports
in high school, we play rec league sports, So you
play sports with them wherever you play. You play softball,
you play basketball. Yeah, you don't have to be best
friends with everybody you play with, but even the person

(10:53):
you're not best friends with, you don't have to live
with them twenty four seven. Right, you have to live.
But that's what happens in professional sports. You live with
these guys twenty four to seven. If you don't get
along with somebody, Okay, you don't have any time away
from them because you're on the same plane with them.
You're at practice all the time, you're at meals all
the time, and and they're saying things that are provoking
you or or not making you feel like, I really
don't like this guy. When you have to live with

(11:13):
somebody twenty four to seven, for months at a time. Yeah,
things get that way. You know. It's why you get
in fights with your roommates at college. And you don't
get in fights so many of your best friends in
school because you have time away from each other. But
when you're your your roommate, you your roommate don't get
along in college if you see each other all the time,
and there's that that that just builds up inside you. Yeah,
I see where things like this happen. I completely understand

(11:35):
how something like Gobert went on pretty easy to boil over.
Like I said, like lots of little things over the
course of a season and finally get towards the end
and it takes one word, one little interaction in this case,
did he did he get the magic word? I guess
that's enough to get it going. Go through the history
of where guys acted out on these versus you, you

(11:57):
turn the other cheek and move forward, so you know
you have that selective outrage as the Chris Rocks special
was was all about. But it's certainly for you you
found where it was. I think he probably thought better
this guy's in saying he's still holding a bat as
opposed to throwing it down and getting ready to fight.

(12:18):
You still had the posture of you you were looking
to uh, well, you were gonna go off his space
like it was a fax machine that it vexed you
for all that time. But what's the what are they
playing with? It was, it's damn it feels good to
be a gangsters. At the song they play when he's
beating the crap out of the face, I like that
they pull him away and he goes back. No, he
wants he dives and punches at it. Yeah, Barren knuckle

(12:42):
brawling on the fax machine. Drop the people's elbow, right, Yeah,
that's right. Twitter and Out about a Fresca Mike as

was after that was that I didn't I didn't follow
up with an archie bunker like a like what he
said to what did you call me? All go yeah.
But here's the question though, why did mom respond? What
did she think? Did she like the excitement and the
fire in your belly? I didn't say anything, and I
said to her after we went out, because we all
went out to eat after my mom came with us,

(13:26):
and it was a fun night, and I said, you know,
I kind of I kind of lost my temper there
a little bit. Mom. She goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, she goes,
But he was he was talking the whole game. And
then I didn't really care to hear his commentary either.
I said, oh, okay, good, So my mom was okay.
I think she found it was okay that that had happened,
and you know, there was no fight and we were
going out to dinner. She basically said, blank, fat guy.

(13:49):
I didn't care for his commentary on the gad, didn't
she There you go, Mom always has your back, remember that,
even if you're going through rough patches. Folks. Well, I
had to drive us to the time Mom had your back, whilsow.
My mom doesn't drive, so I had to drive, so
I was the that was the only way she was
getting home, so she kind of had to have I
could have asked a teammate she could have walked in.

(14:10):
It would have been fast. Hey, you know a bus.
You know, Jason's mom asked me for a ride home.
Got something that's weird, man, that's really really weird. She
must really hate him. But does she hate him more
than Oral Hershie. No, nobody hats no chance, Not Oral Hershizer,
not possible. Or who hates me more Oral her Shizer?
Charles Woodson, Oh, yes, you think Or does really well

(14:34):
as far as he knows. I can still just tried
to cut off circulation in your hand. Yeah that's true,
that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, Oral Oral definitely. You know,
by the way, his wine is actually really really good Woodson,
Oral Hershizer Woodson, I haven't had Does Oral have a wine?
I think you have to have a I think you're
only legit as a celebrity if you have a You
have to have some kind of alcohol to be legit
as a celebrity. Otherwise you're you're like a b lister. Yeah.

now we're going to have a conversation that it flies

(16:05):
in the face of so many things that have been
said and done. It just back to Harmonville. Let's go.
Everybody living in Harmonville. Well, it's it gets back to
where where I've been living and planting my flag all along.
Let's go, what's life like in Harmonville? Well, well, Laurus,
there's there's no pants policy like Jamie Tart and Ted

(16:31):
Lasso this week. That's right. Can have your T shirt?
Oh come, you only wear a T shirt up top
and nothing on the bottom. Well, I get I get
called up top at night, but I'm not on the bottom.
All right. That makes so Lamar Jackson and this this
is just absolutely insane. But the good news is not
only can we make sense of it, we can tell
you what more than likely is going to happen. Now.

(16:53):
Odell Beckham Junior signs a big deal with the Ravens
over the weekend one year, fifteen million dollars. Nobody was
going to give him anywhere close to that was a
kind of a panic move. Yes, and they have to
give it to him, No, but they gave him fifteen million,
and I'm happy that they gave it to him, and
I didn't have to worry about the Jets visiting with
him today and walking away going we had a great visit.

(17:15):
We're signing Odell great great so week four, he can
complain about not getting the football from Aaron Rodgers. He
throws it to Garrett Wilson too much. Why am I
getting the football? Why am I here? No? So I'm
happy because, as I told you, I had, I was
really had accepted the fact that I was going to
have to root for Odell Beckham Junior this year as
after all the criticism I've given him, all rightful criticism

(17:37):
in the last couple of years, I'm gonna have to
root for the guy. Now I don't have to worry
about it. He could go be overpaid in Baltimore. It's awesome.
I'm excited about it. I don't have to root for him.
And it's still Aaron Rodgers Eve. And I'm loving life.
It's all good. It's still Aaron Rodgers Eve. But yeah,
fifteen million up to eighteen when if he hits incentives.
This is a panic move. We've kind of had a

(17:58):
laugh whether we had Jason and Lock and fore on
with us earlier in the show. And and my contention
is all the chatter about wide receivers and and failures
there because they've actually invested. It's kind of like the Packers.
It's it's bad narratives by people to say the team
hadn't tried to build around their respective quarterbacks, they just
did so poorly, or guys haven't been able to stay healthy.

(18:21):
It's why the Ravens fired their trainer. They're trying to
get these guys on the field and keep them on
the field. Now, but you go in a panic moves
thinking sticker shock is going to be able to help
the process. And who knows, maybe it is. They were
out club and last night, you know this person with
the sign up saying welcome Lamar and Odin No I
know right, Yeah, hey, look Lamar and o'dellar. Let's hang

(18:42):
their jerseys up at the club. Now, this is where
things get interesting because after all of the because this
is not really about Odell Beckham, It's about Lamar Jackson. Yes,
he got over picked, congratulations. Don't know how he got
that money to look at what I once was and
he got to Coston come to believe that they can
mind that again? How does he get that? I don't

(19:02):
understand how he gets that money? Look, how great? Was
just the guy? He's just a guy. Hey, maybe he
would have just showed him the catch, you know, the
one hand to catch over and over and over again.
Remember I made this catch? Yeah, yeah, track to it.
If you pick the right song in the background, can
you take me? Oh? This is powerful stuff. Here's the
gift on a loop. It's like when when Rex Ryan

(19:25):
watched video of Plexico Burrus's greatest catches that we gotta
go sign this guy, really just because you watch the
best stuff video. Really, It's like on the on the computer,
when on Twitter when people go, oh, if Team X
is getting the twenty eighteen version of this player, it's
gonna be great, and they show a highlight for twenty eighteen,
five years ago that was if you're getting the nineteen

(19:47):
ninety seven version of this player, boy, is he really good?
But way back machine, baby, let's go all of this hate.
Lamar Jackson had moved on. His mom has said he
has moved on from the Ravens. We've been telling you
for months. I've been saying he's not coming back. The
guys sitting out, he's not coming back from injury. He's
not gonna disrupt his financial future. He waits until every

(20:08):
coach sits down for breakfast at the owner's meeting, and
then he sends out a tweet saying I had demanded
a trade. Good luck answering this question. Everybody, well by
that point, everybody was able to talk to him, So
it was a faulty he was, but he was blowtorching
his way out of the Ravens, and now what do
we get. NFL Network reports that Odell and Lamar Jackson

(20:30):
had talked a lot in the offseason about teaming up
for one shot at the Super Bowl. There were video
of them on each other's Instagram pages going back and forth,
congratulating each other. As you said, they were out at
the club together the other night, going hey, now, look
things can still go sideways, and Lamar could just say, oh,
I'm just happy you got paid, man, So it's all good.
I mean, it's great that you got paid, but I'm
still not going I'm trolling the Ravens. I'm never coming back,

(20:53):
but I'm making you think like I'm gonna come back
because I'm at the club with Odell, So you think
that it's all great right now, But I'm just making
you think I can when I'm really not one hell
of a heel turn. And I'm just happing that Odell
got paid because nobody else get him that kind of money.
And look what I did. I screwed the Ravens and
I got Odell fifteen million dollars a year because O'Dell
doesn't care. So maybe Lamar is his agent, whoever he's

(21:19):
I don't think he's accredited. I don't think you could.
Just because you're a quarterback. You can't be an agent,
I don't think. Again, So you guys get some paid,
so he gets some paid. So now Odell's I was like, yeah,
that's great. It doesn't matter if I'm catching passes from
Tyler Huntley. What do I g I'm getting fifteen million dollars.
But but when you get past the ridiculousness of boy,
this could be the greatest roll job ever by Lamar Jackson,

(21:41):
making you think now it's all good, I'm coming back.
Just think about what the best avenue for Lamar Jackson
would be going forward and staying with the Ravens. Looks
like that's what is? It pains me to say that.
But when you say what's the future for Lamar Jackson,
we know right now no one's trading with him for Baltimore.

(22:03):
No one wants to give up the two first round picks.
No one wants to give him the guaranteed money he
is supposedly seeking. Even if he takes a little bit
less than two hundred and fifty million dollars guaranteed, we
know he wants. No one's doing that, okay, So what
are teams? What would teams trade with him for? They
would if the price dropped as far as what they'd
have to give up and if Lamar Jackson's price dropped,

(22:23):
But even so, they're still not going to do it.
You have the NFL Draft coming. There's gonna be four
quarterbacks taken in the draft that I told you earlier today,
we'll talk about it again a little bit. There'll be
four quarterbacks taken in the first round of the draft,
and the first four picks this year, the well quarterbacks
will go one, two, three, four. When it's all said
and done. He just doesn't have a market because of
his injury history the last couple of years and the

(22:45):
money he wants. There's no market for Lamar Jackson. So
what happens now? What are the two things Lamar Jackson
can do? Even though we know no agent doesn't help
Lamar Jackson. But that's kind of obviously we've heard. You know,
you gotta have an age, you gotta help you, right,
It's it's the Jeff Fisher is on the copetition Committee
conversation with Lamar Jackson. You know Lamar doesn't have an
agent and that's not helping him. Yes, we know that

(23:05):
everybody knows this right now. Unborn children know that Lamar
Jackson doesn't have an agent and it's hurting him. But
what are the two avenues open to Lamar Evidon? Number
one is we talked about last week. The holdout goes
through the summer because the Ravens are going to franchise him,
and he's gonna sit out, sit out, sit out, and
then hope at the very end of the summer, right

(23:25):
before training camp starts, like one of those Eve of
training camp deals, a team shows up and says, hey,
how about a first round pick we're gonna get Lamar.
He's only going to sign with us for one year.
And Lamar goes to a new team for one year
and thirty some odd million trying to get healthy, improving.
He's a superstar, and then he gets a bite at
the apple again in free agency a year from now,
as long as he proves he's healthy. So there's that
scenario one hundred percent. Now, what about this scenario. He

(23:49):
stays in Baltimore, where he's still a legend, where the
fans always have his back, doesn't have to worry about
going someplace new, and if he starts out slow, the
tide turns against him. Right he comes back, it's oh
my god, Lamar, you came back. Thank goodness, you came back.
He comes back in an offense that he knows, with
personnel that he knows. Hey, here's Odell here, and maybe
we can make something work. And I go and I

(24:10):
have a healthy year here because I'm more comfortable with everything, offense, personnel,
everything else. I'm comfortable here. And then a year from now,
I am definitively gone. You are never going to see
me again. And I'm getting that contract and that money
from another team because they will make the move for
me because I proven that I am healthy and I
am still a superstar quarterback and I'm twenty six years old.

(24:32):
So if you talk about those two scenarios where Lamar
goes someplace and gambles on himself versus staying in Baltimore
and staying healthy where he's been and had great years
in the past, as long as he's healthy. Yeah. I
can't believe I'm saying this, but staying in Baltimore is
probably the best thing for him. If your desire is
to one year from now get back at it, get

(24:53):
out into free agency or some kind of trade, something
happening where you can get that money and that long
term deal from someone you want. Yeah. I mean, obviously,
as we've talked about along the way, for those new
to the show, welcome and welcome to the extended family.
You know, part of the equation is you've got teams
atop the draft, and we'll get into all of those
would be quarterback candidates up at the top of the draft.

(25:14):
But you may not want to give up that pick
now because if you trade for Lamar Jackson right then,
or bring in Lamar Jackson now, send those picks out, well,
those are top picks to help round out your squad
because odds are you're more than that one player away.
We've talked about this, particularly with the Indianapolis Colts in

(25:35):
the past, of after the draft there might be a
more active market because now you're talking about draft picks
for the following years. And if Lamar Jackson were to
come into your program and it works out Indianapolis, Tennessee. Wherever,
then it's a lower first round pick, you don't feel
as bad about giving away those assets. But I think
both Lamar and the Ravens you played this as well
as you could, as much as I go after DaCosta

(25:57):
and some of the decisions and certainly some of the
comments and their public pressers. But for Lamar, it's all right,
go see what you're worth. And maybe he's had those
discussions and coming off of the three for one thirty
three that he said he was offered, you're not getting
anything totally over the top. For the Ravens, they said,
go find it, and maybe they're amenable to a number

(26:18):
that's much higher than that three for one thirty three.
But that's where they were at in the negotiations and
waiting for information to come back. And now you get
past the Hey, it ain't personal, it's just business. And
that's where the agent thing does come in, because perhaps
you can get it from being seen as a personal
slight versus hey, business of football and trying to make

(26:40):
sure we're being as judicious with our dollars as we can.
Of course that flies out the window. I've heard the
Roquan Smith contract brought up a bunch and of course
the Odell Beckham Junior today really kind of kills your
argument with some of that stuff. But sometimes you've got
to play the desperation game to go back and try
to get Lamar as for sitting out. He's got thirty

(27:00):
two million reasons not to right. As much as you
you would say, well, you know, he could play hardball.
They could if he thought he could get to another destination.
That's the thing. If they thought that I could sit
out and get to another destination at eventually, I would
make them blink. Well yeah, then then then sitting out
the thing because at some point the eve of training
camp he would get dealt. But the thing is is

(27:22):
that does he have it? He doesn't have a destination
right now. Nobody wants him. He doesn't have a destination.
I don't think they blink because I mean, look, I
love Lamar Jackson, and I've heard so many people default
to the oh, he's an MVP that was a couple
of years ago. Okay, he's missed time and either either
argument really hurts. And I say this specifically, right they

(27:44):
because some are like, well look a look at this
last year. Maybe part of it was he want to play,
and he was very quick to say, hey, no, no, no,
my knee was jacked. Okay, But either way it's terrible, right.
Either he's a guy that decided, all right, here's I'm
the Mavericks and We've got a shot at the playoffs
and I'm not gonna play and stoop Pundley is gonna
have to run and run through it, so I'm not

(28:06):
going to give it the old college try, or he
was legitimately that hurt. Either way, it's not good for him,
but the former is certainly a bigger deal. Wait, he
stopped down because he was on happy business because of contract,
and that's where a lot of the conversation was, so
he tried to tamp that down as best he could.
Either way, he's missed a lot of times in the
last two years. As good as he is and as

(28:29):
great as he may be, we're always trying to figure
out with quarterbacks. You know, how long you get you
get to play at an elite level and with the
number and I don't care how many you know, you
want to go through the Suppruto film and say, well,
he only took one real big hit here in one
reel B and count those up. That's fine. He still
carried the ball a hundred times a year, so thinking

(28:50):
he's like a fifteen to twenty year quarterback. Unless something
changed immensely, it's probably not the way to go. So
you're trying to be pragmatic with your team if you're
going to guarantee that kind of money now, the way
the salary cap keeps rising in the rights deals and
everything else, everybody's just got funny money coming in. But
it still doesn't mean you just throw it around. Why
did the rich stay rich? They keep their cash? Twitter

(29:11):
at how about a fresca, Mike, It's swallen down the

this after the big news today Adam Schefter reporting that
the Cardinals have heard from No you were then six
teams that want to know do you want to part

(32:04):
with a number three overall pick in the draft? And
the Cardinals are debating what they want to do. Well,
first of all, there's no debate. What you say is, hey,
how about stead of the third pick we give you
Kyler Murray? Oh, look at you? How about that trying
to pawn him off? Does his video game system go
with him? Bait and switch? Bait and switch? And how
aboutstead of me giving you a pick, I give you
Kyler Murray? You give us a pick? How does that sound?

(32:26):
What do we what if we do that instead? Can
that work for us? How do I put you into
this contract? How do we how do we make Because
that's what really is better for us, not us trading
a third pick, but us getting out from under Kyler
Murray's contract. That's what helps us the best. But knowing
that that happened, the Cardinals are not going to stay
at number three if they're not taking a quarterback, right,
They're going to move down. They will take whatever the

(32:48):
best deal is and they will move out because someone
is moving up to three to get a quarterback. They're
not moving up to three to go get an edge rusher.
Don't know they're moving up to three to get a quarterback.
Because there's four quarterback that have been linked to the
top of the draft and many different scenarios over the
course of the season and the off season. So I'm
going to tell you this when it's all said, and

(33:09):
we talked about this earlier on the Doug got Leap Show.
Today you and I filling in for Doug. When it's
all said and done, quarterbacks will come off the board
one two, three and four One two, three four. You
know that the Panthers are taking a quarterback, and you
know that the Texas are taking a quarterback, so one

(33:29):
two in the end, it'll wind up being Anthony Richardson
because all the intangibles with the guy are going to
be off the charts. And if you are a Caroline,
you're saying, why are we taking someone that doesn't have
the unbelievable ceiling, the untapped potential of Anthony Richardson. So
in the end he'll go number one, but it doesn't
matter because a quarterback goes one. A quarterback os two.

(33:50):
A quarterback who gets the team that jumps into three
with the Cardinals, that's a quarterback, and then the Colts
are picking fourth, and that's a quarterback. Right. They have
said no to Lamar Jackson all season long because quarter
we like a lot of quarterbacks, like a lot of quarterback.
They're not going to get out of that fourth slot
without taking a quarterback, and it's likely going to be
Will Levis. All right, I know that he has been

(34:12):
sliding down draft boards a little bit right now. He's
being projected anywhere from the ninth in the eighth or
ninth or tenth selection, depending on teams moving up or down,
to a little bit further down in the first round
down to fourteen fifteen, sixteen. But when it comes down
to it and you see quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, it's well,
we get a guy that's projected to be a first

(34:32):
round pick, or we're hoping to get somebody in the second, third,
fourth round, somewhere and turn them into somebody and when
you are the Colts, you have tried the path the
last couple of years of we're going to get a
really good veteran, see if it's smooth things over. Well,
that didn't work, so you have to go the other way.
But now you can't go into a situation where it's well,
we're gonna groom a guy for a couple of years.
Does anybody you take is going to be viewed as

(34:54):
as a franchise quarterback? So are you gonna really try
to get lucky in the second or third round and
say this guy might be a couple of years away,
or are you gonna take that last quarterback that's there,
because after that there's a big drop off, or there's
gonna be at least a bunch of pick drop off
until Hendon Hooker gets taken, and he'll likely go late
in the first round somewhere because his stock is gonna
rise when it's all said and done. Quarterbacks to be

(35:14):
the first four picks in the NFL draft, Well, you
got two guys, and you mentioned Hendon Hooker. He's a
guy that there's been a little bit of excitement. We
talked about the Was it the Lombardi mock that had
him going fifth or six or something like that to
try to shake things up, and he got some some
clicks and that was good. It was the if I
were GM mock draft, which is fine. Your guy Richardson

(35:37):
currently fourteen to one to go number one overall. So
if you want to get on board that, you might
want to jump that. Otherwise it's young and stroud. But
but to your point, you're trying. You can't kick the
can down the road. Indianapolis tried to to stop gap it.
We as much as we love watching Philip Rivers go underhanded,
that wasn't working. Matt Ryan was done. Now. Convergence of

(36:00):
a lot of situations there and injuries on both sides
of the ball for Indianapolis really felled any hope that
they would have to rise up. But when we look
at this draft, yeah, eventually we're gonna have a run
on defensive player, be it Anderson, probably the first one
off the board. But there's the fear of missing out
because if you don't get that quarterback early, then you

(36:22):
got a problem. I mentioned off of your comment for
Hendon Hooker, you also have Dorian Thompson Robinson, who's starting
to get a little bit of play to where maybe
he finds himself in the back end of the first
round as well. So you know, you may not have
to be as desperate, but you're certainly not walking out
a round one without a quarterback if you're some of
these teams that have been scuffling or have that veteran

(36:44):
coming off big injuries. Twitter and how about a Fresca
Mike gets swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Carmen. So just watch when it's all
everybody's gonna panic. Quarterbacks will come off the board and
will be like, there's two number one overall picks. You
will have the quarterbacks and then was first after the quarterbacks,
but one, two, three, four they will be quarter and
Zach Wilson will be starting for the Jets here even

(37:06):
if the Jets don't have a number one quarterback, he
is still the number two quarterback. It doesn't done behind
Carson will he will not stop? Will you signed Matt Ryan? Yeah,
that stopped all of you stop stop getting out there.
It could be it could be Aaron Rodgers, Eve, you guys,
it could be Jerks tomorrow could be the next day.

(37:27):
You're gonna hate him like Santa Claus. Pretty soon we
got more NFL on the way, but coming up next
for the first time, can we see the end of
Tiger Woods's career. That's next on Fox
