Unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection and

(00:44):
over ten thousand recommended installers tirerac dot com the way
tire buying should be. How you doing tonight, Torres Arnie.
I'm doing well. It's been awast you and I have
worked together. Now you feel then for me? A few
saturdays ago when I was watching my team win a
national championship, she's done. They were not involved in the

(01:09):
final four that I was at. But great to be
with you. How you beatman? What's new? If? If we're
gonna be honest right off the bat, I want you
to know I was rooting against Yukon like it was,
not like I had a million or Miami Hurricanes. I
wanted you to lose against Iona. I wanted you to lose.

(01:31):
I wanted you to lose from from day one, unlike
other against you, unlike other formerly great programs. We don't
lose in round one too poorly seated teams. That'd be
the Arizona Wildcats alex ty shirt. I know you were
right on top of that ty shirt, you know, mister
mister college Hoops Sports and Jedia. Let me tell you
that that hurts. That that's gonna bother me because I

(01:53):
was telling this story when it happened. Princeton was my
safety school in case I didn't want to go to Arizona.
I didn't get into Arizona, I was probably going to
go to Princeton Princeton Tech in uh in Mesa. Arizona
is not the school that Arizona played in the tournament.
That loss is going to bother me until we win
a national championship. I want you to know that, really,
Oh yeah, why isn't that much more bothersome than all

(02:15):
the other early losses that are You're just gonna see
us every every year at the start of the tournament
will say, and there's upsets, and then you'll see the
Princeton guys reading a book on the sideline and making
buckets against us and stuff like that. Did you know
what that loss? It was the first time ever that
any school had lost twice as a two seed to
a fifteen seed. I don't know if you heard that
stat when that happened. So that was pretty cool. No,

(02:37):
that's not true at all. It is what out a
two lost to a fifteen or wise twice? Yeah, the
other one was what Miami of Ohio? Right? Is that
the one we lost to or now you lost to
Santa Claro? Was Santa Claro, Miami of Ohio. We must
have been like a fourteen against a three seeds or
something like that too, that one, that one crushed me. Also, yeah,
sorry about that? Do you Okay? Gosh, okay, we got

(02:59):
your Lakers tonight, so that's good. Oh I'm feeling good
my Lakers tonight. I got them going at least I
got them to go ahead and pull me through. Uh
I guess, I don't know. I mean, we'll see. I'll
say this, arn'tie, I'll say this is as obviously the
play in tournament. I don't think we can consider it
the playoffs even though it's the playoffs. Oh, I do stop.
I'm just saying, listen, mister Princeton. This is I'm just

(03:21):
saying what all the experts and the smart people say.
I'll say, at least in the West, this feels about
as wide open as I can ever remember it, like
it's you know, and like you know, I've I've heard
people make the argument for the Lakers, and I don't
know if it's who I like necessarily, but I can
see the argument. I could see the argument for Phoenix,

(03:42):
I could see I don't know if I can see
the argument for the Clippers. But there's three or four
teams in this in this Western Conference playoffs that I
could legitimately see making a run here. No, I'm absolutely
looking forward to it. We do have a lot to
get to, of course, win for the guys. Jason Smith
and his best friend Mike Harmon will keep you updated
on what's going on with the Laker game. I'm look
forward to this. I mean, you're going to sit here
and told me it's not really a playoff game. It's

(04:03):
a playing game. And I'm feeling like it's Game seven
and the winner gets to go to the NBA Championship
because it's the first big game the Lakers have played
in forever. You know, I saw this that I completely
cut you off him, So that's okay, go go go.
This is the first home playoff game with fans in
the stands for the Lakers in a decade, Arnie Spanier

(04:25):
because of cocause. Now that was the only other time
they made the playoffs. Wow, a rash Mar Kazi, that's
via a rash Markaz ten you in a decade. I mean,
I'll just read you. A rash Mar Kazi is mister la,
So I'll just read you what he tweeted. Here is
what he said. Uh La, Yeah, but that that seems
like he said, the cheapest ticket to the Lakers first

(04:46):
postseason game in front of fans in Los Angeles in
ten years. Wow, it's one hundred fifty dollars on tick.
Never wouldn't. First of all, one hundred and fifty. It
doesn't sound that bad at all. That seems like a bargain.
So I never would have guessed that. If you're if
you just say, I guess how many years I think
ten would have been like my fifth or six guests
or something like that. Never never would have thought it.
It's been that long of a sub for the Lakers.

(05:08):
I wouldn't have either. And I know they had a
few down years kind of in the transition out of Kobe,
and then they had the rebuilding years where they drafted
Lonzo Ball and Julius Randall, and then of course they
got Lebron. But now I'm with you, is that championship
for the you know, the bubble? Yeah, so no, I
just that was not something that I was expecting to
see either. Just never really registered. And like I said,

(05:30):
I know, obviously they missed the playoffs last year, and
you know, Lebron's first year before they got ad they
missed the playoffs, and then I guess, so I guess
coming out of the bubble, they made the playoffs that year,
but they lost to Phoenix and there were no fans
in the stand. So, you know, it's a little it's
a little bit of a convoluted stat but it is
still pretty incredible. It's been ten years since they played
in front of fans in the playoffs. And by the way,

(05:51):
if you want to go ahead and Twitter. The best
way to get a hold of us are real simple.
At Aaron Underscore Tours, I'm in stinking genius. One. What
are you expecting from the Lakers? Are you? Are you thinking? Okay,
they're you know, a Western Finals team. You think they
can make a run. Thank you'd what the best record
in the Western Conference? Yeah, seventeen and seven or something
like eighteen and seven or something to that matter. I

(06:12):
never would have guessed it, especially especially with Lebron I'm
going down with his injury. But Anthony Davis really stepped
it up. And by the way, they we ask you
a question, everybody's like looking at Anthony Davis, he gonn
have been doing this all year. Is Anthony Davis playing
like this because he's healthy? Or is Anthony Davis playing
like this because he only played in like fifty five
or fifty six games and because it was load management.

(06:35):
You told me what it is? You know, well, I
think that's what's gonna be interesting about this playoffs is
that I get that in general, you know, you're not
playing back to backs, you're not playing three games in
five nights in a playoff setting. But you know this
is go time, right, and you know you we I
think too easily, and I think we're finally getting pushed
back on the load management stuff. But we have just

(06:56):
accepted load management with the understand ending that it's all
about championships and it's all about what you do in April,
May and June. Well it's April, and Lakers fans, you know,
I don't know what's realistic and what isn't, but you
know they want to compete for championships. And so the
only point I'm trying to make is I know that
there's a lot of pressure on a lot of different people. NICOLEA.

(07:17):
Yokich obviously trying to justify the previous two you know, MVPs,
maybe a third one coming, although not likely. A lot
of pressure on Kevin durant on and on. I would
argue there's as much pressure on Anthony Davis as anybody
because everybody's playing well. The pieces fit, the pieces compliment
each other, the team is playing well. But can he
stay healthy for three months? It obviously starts tonight. I

(07:38):
think that's one of the biggest questions of this playoffs.
Boy did that experiment go all wrong when Westbrook did it? Not?
Or one? I mean, I mean, I remember I remember
being on air the day after the trade and you saying,
I mean, let's call Bernie Fretto. I'm putting my whole
house on the Lakers winning the champion champion. I was like,
you know, there's only one ball, right, and you know
Westbrook can't really play off the ball and Lebron can't

(07:59):
really play off the ball. So you were the one
you were buying. You were already printing up in your
garage in Vermont the Lakers twenty twenty two championship t shirts.
So wait, wait a minute, I will ask you what
I said an our number one later on in this show.
You won't remember, but you'd never let me forget that one.
Yea three years ago I made one because it was
such an egregious take. How could I forget it? And

(08:20):
it just stuck into your mind like you will remember? Wait, wait,
you had for lunch today? But Joe, remember I said
that three years ago? Walt, you know what I had
for lunch today? He'll appreciate this. I had a little
mats of ball soup. So good for you. It's you know,
it's passover. And how about this. My wife's aunt takes
you know, she she's a nurse or whatever for you know,

(08:43):
an older nurse or whatever. I mean, I don't know
what the term is, but for an older Jewish lady.
And so she made her mats of ball soup. I
don't know if you know it's about me, but I'm
half Jewish. So I grew up on a little mats
of ball sup myself, and that's what I had for lunch.
It was delicious, So thank you for asking I got.
I also remember my vours to get them to get
mats of ball's soup. But you're not making your wife's
slave away. I mean, she's too busy shoveling and ironing

(09:04):
and whatever you didn't make. You don't make her make
dinner too. Oh her monster ball soup is is like
cardballs in Colorado. They just fly out of the stadium. Okay,
so yes, But I do remember the Egregious west because
it was so bad, because because it was one of
those everyone had the same opinion on the Westbrook stuff.
It was like, I don't know if it's gonna work

(09:25):
with Lebron And then out of left field there's Arnie
span here. Oh my god, championships line up the parade,
don't even play the season. But wait a minute before
you start patting yourself on the back along with everybody else,
had said it was gonna be a bad fit. Why
wasn't that the same thing when he went over to
the Clippers? Did you? Did you say, well, now he's
gonna bring down the Clippers because they've played pretty well

(09:45):
and he's helped them, you know, towards the end of
the season. I don't hear anybody's saying that when he
went to the Clippers, though, Why I didn't hear anybody
say they're the definitive favorites now with West. No, no,
but but that's what you said, though, No, no, no,
But they're not saying, well, you know, forget about the
Clippers now they're losing the first round or something. They're
gonna be as miserable as the Lakers were, or or
something to that effect. You know, I would think, you know,

(10:07):
you being a mediocre pickup basketball player, you don't understand
how basketball works. There are certain players that are best
with the ball in their hands, and there are certain
players that are best off the ball. Lebron is somebody
that is maybe the best player to ever play, but
he needs the ball in his hands to be most
effective Westbrook when he's playing like an MVP, and he
obviously doesn't play like that at this point in his career,

(10:27):
but has the ball in his hands, Kauai can play
off the ball. Paul George, who I know is hurt
right now, can play off the ball. So there isn't
as much of a log jam in the actual, you know,
having the ball in your hands situation. So that was
why I thought it would make more sense with the Clippers.
But I'll also say this, I think Clippers got a
pretty bad match up with Phoenix in round one. Well yeah,

(10:49):
let me tell you something. I can't wait to see
how that series plays out. I want to see. I mean,
all you hear is how they're undefeated, and I'm talking
about Phoenix when Kevin Durand's played is not certainly not
going to be the case as we go through the playoffs,
Eventually they're gonna go ahead and lose somewhere along the line.
We'll see how they bounce back and they overcome adversity.
I'm so you know you're talking about having pressure. I

(11:11):
think there's a lot of pressure on Kevin Durant go
ahead and lead Phoenix to an NBA championship, not just
the finals, with an NBA championship. Aaron Interesting, I don't know.
I don't know, Like like I kind of feel like,
I don't know. I don't know how I feel about
Kevin Durant. I feel like everyone's just kind of given
up on the Like there was so much pressure to

(11:32):
win in Golden State. Then he tried to do his
own thing in Brooklyn that didn't work, and now he's
just in Phoenix. But I'm not sold on Phoenix. And
I know we have four hours to get into this,
really eight hours including tomorrow. But you know, I understand
that they're undefeated since since you know, he's come over
in games that he's played, but they also, what was
the argument the day that they traded for him. They

(11:53):
don't have a bench now giving up Cam Johnson and
Michael Bridges and all the guys that they gave up.
So I think there's a lot of pressure on him.
And look, the one thing I'll say, you know who
it actually takes a lot of the pressure off of
is Chris Paul. If they lose. Whenever nobody says, oh
Chris Paul can't get it done, it's gonna be like, No,
Kevin Durant didn't get the job done, so I think
there's pressure on him. But you know, I have to

(12:14):
see how this playoffs plays out before I say that
he has more pressure than a lot of other guys.
We're getting a lot on Twitter, Like I said, that's
the best way to get a hold of us. Aaron
underscore Torres, I'm in stinking genius one sucking up coop,
says a tourist. Did you get in trouble or something
for having the work with Arnie? No wet Torres was
the I think no offense. I think you were the
person we called and can I first eleven. We couldn't

(12:37):
make it, so we just took Torres. Can I share
a funny story? We could do it after the break?
If you want go ahead, go go ahead. Well I
told the Sayer this the other night. But you know, obviously,
last Monday night, eight days ago, I was in Houston
watching my team win the championship, the Yukon Huskies. They
beat they beat San Diego State, Aztecs Arizona. What. I
don't think Arizona made the final four this year. I

(12:58):
can't remember. I'm gonna have to look that up. I'm
not confirming though, Go ahead, but why I bring it up?
Do my media stuff post game in the stadium, get
in the cab wearing a Fox Sports jacket. Cab driver says, oh,
Fox Sports, I love you. I listen to the radio
all the time. I love that Arnie spanierd guy. And

(13:22):
I was sick to my stomach. I was like, I
don't even want I can't even celebrate this championship anymore.
I'm going home and curling up in a ball. I'm
sick to my stomach. So I don't know if he
still listens to you with plank on the weekends or
if he just you know, he remembers you from the
glory days of the sixties and seventies, in the start

(13:42):
of yeah, yeah, yeah, when when he was driving that
horse and buggy, you know, into the taxi era. So no,
but that is a one hundred percent true story. I'm
riding off the high of what do you know who
you were then when we did Saturday nights or no,
I'll tell you the truth. He claimed that he did. Yeah,
but he did go back to like, oh no, but
I mean I'm really oh yeah, you worked with Arnie

(14:03):
but I I love Arnie, and I was like, yeah,
I mean I worked with them for like four years,
so he loves me. Let me tell you something you
should You should have seen the tweets I got um
after Arizona lost to Princeton. She would have thought. You
would have thought I was Taylor Swift or something like that.
It was just rolling it and rolling it. And even
when I first made the comment before the game and said,

(14:26):
we don't lose the teams like Princeton, um it it
started coming in like I've never ever rooted for Princeton
harder than in my life that I'm rooting against them,
against rooting for them against Arizona, and sure enough, as
soon as they won. I seriously, it must have been
thousands on top of that thousands. Why it was? It was?

(14:46):
It was insane. I'll tell you my phone. I think
I got tagged on a few of those. I had
at least two or three strays from the Artis Spaniard like, hey, Tauris,
did you see Arnie's team lost? I'm like, yeah, I
have I have a TV and cable like everybody else.
Ye oh, I didn't look up the Arizona score. I
didn't know that one. I had him in before I
convinced myself, So shame on me. I should have known

(15:06):
they're they're already Spanish teams. So did I lose to
you in the NCA pool? Did you? All I know
is that nobody had a correct final four pick? Was
that the stats? Something like that? How did you? How
did you not pick Ukon? You want to know the truth,
I'll tell you the one hundred percent on his truth.
Oh my goodness. I had them many Elite eight against UCLA,

(15:26):
and I didn't pick them because I didn't want to
be a homer or you're fired, you I should be fired.
I fired my fired immediately. I put myself in time
out by going to Houston for four days and celebrating
their championship there. That was how I celebrated my time out.
You and Bill Murray, I hate you both now. Oh yeah,
that's true. Uh, it absolutely kills me. All Right, we

(15:46):
do have a lot to get that we're gonna come back.
We'll start, I'll give you an early look at what's
going on in the Laker game. What are you expecting
from them? We'll take a look at some of the
other series out there, and by the way at the
end of the year. First year Discover credit cards automatically

(16:08):
come back. What are the Lakers doing? What about some
of the other series that's coming up next? We sitting
for the guys Jason Smith and his best friend Mike
Carmen right here on Fox Sports or Radio. Wow listen
to you. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harman weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

(16:33):
All right, could evening, everybody. He's Aaron Torres. A'm Marny Spaniard.
Right here on Fox Sports Radio. In for the guys,
Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Harmen. We're coming
to you live from the Tirerack dot Com studios. All right,
they're underway, Minnesota, out to an early fourteen ten lead
over the Lakers. Lakers are happy, they're only down by four.
They started this game one for eleven. I believe it

(16:55):
was from the field. They were kind of sleepwalking, and
I guess they thought they weren't allowed to play any
defense because uh, Minnesota came out hit a couple of threes.
They're now up sixteen ten over the Lakers. This isn't
gonna be an easy one like I thought it was
gonna be. I know it's early, but it's gonna be
a tough one for the Lakers all the way through.
They're gonna have to fight for this one. Torres, Well,

(17:16):
we both you know, like to you know reasonably, you know,
please gamble responsibly throw a couple of bucks on these games.
And it felt like everyone had the same opinion like
Lakers role, Gobert punch, Kyle Anderson, like the Timberwolves are
a mess. And as we know in sports, when everyone
has the same opinion on something, it usually ends up

(17:39):
going the other way. Yeah, but a lot of people did.
But a lot of people took the points. Though it
was eight and a half. That was a lot of points.
I'm I'm just talking about winning the game. If I
was betting this game, I'm taking the points. Also, eight
and half was was too much. I didn't care who
was going to be thrown out of this game. That
was That was a lot of points for a game
like this, you know, yeah, I mean, I don't, I don't.
I actually don't necessarily agree with that. I mean, it

(18:01):
is a lot of points, but you know, listen the
way the NBA is now, if somebody gets hot, obviously
the Lakers are a much better shooting team post Westbrook.
I don't know. I thought, I think there were plenty
of people that did take the timberwill supposed to points,
but I didn't think it was a slam duck by
any imagination. But eighteen twelve early in the first quarter,
and maybe this one is a little bit more competitive
than we thought. You know, I know, Michael Jordan missed

(18:23):
a lot of years. You know, people remember the championships,
but there was a lot of years that he either
lost in the first round or didn't make the playoffs
at all. Are we gonna start going ahead and maybe
it's gonna hurt Lebron's legacy when he has he's I'm
not making the playoffs or it's one and done or
one game and done because it's the play in game.
When does it start hurting his legacy or it doesn't

(18:45):
hurt at all because he's pretty much solidified where he's
going to be right now, you know, well, I mean,
what do you think about it? Because I do think Listen,
I mean, and I always say this, I think he
said for the most part, Yeah, you know, my whole
thing is even the anti Lebron people, the people that
can't stand Lebron, what they're basically arguing, Arnie is that

(19:08):
he's the second best person to ever do what he
has done as his chosen profession, right, Like, like that
is the like, if you're trying to tear down Lebron,
you're saying that he's the second best player that's ever
done it. And so all I would say is I
do think that. You know, when he made eight straight finals,
I thought that was maybe the most incredible thing that
I've ever seen. But what I would also say is, like,

(19:31):
if we're talking about a legacy as the greatest player
of all time, right, let's call spade a spade. That
first year in LA he quit on the team because
he wasn't happy last season. Yeah, I don't want to
say he quit on a team, but but you know,
like I would say, he didn't give it his best efforts.
So I don't think you can go and now we

(19:51):
have to see again his career isn't over. I mean,
if he wins a championship again this year, and I'm
not saying they will, but you know that that redefines
his legacy. But you know, you can see what you
want about Jordan. And I'm not even trying to make
a like an age joke right now, like you would
probably just remember his career better than I do. I
don't ever remember him like quitting on seasons and Lebron
has done that. And Lebron has done that, and so again,

(20:14):
if we're criticizing Lebron, we're basically arguing that he's the
second best player ever. But to be the first best,
chief if you're being compared to a guy that wants
six championship, six and oh in the NBA finals, and
I know there were years that he lost in the playoffs.
I have seen some egregious Lebron tank jobs these last
couple of years in l Yeah, you know, but it's
tough to say that there. And you're talking about a
guy that was averaging on was a twenty eight a
game or twenty nine a game at some point, especially

(20:36):
when he's come back in the you know, in the
last twenty five games or something like that. It's just
insane the numbers that he's putting up for a guy
that is his age. It really is. I don't think
I've ever seen anything like that. You'd see it from
maybe somebody like Tom Brady and football, but even Brady
didn't have great numbers last year like Lebron's doing now.

(20:58):
I mean, it's he could played for like, you know,
the ten years if he wants to. If you know,
if he goes at this right, he can he can
play for a long time. Torres, Oh, he could, absolutely.
I mean, it just it just comes down to what
does he want out of the last few years of
his career, because I mean, as you said, he's still
playing at an insanely high level. You know, how many
years does he have left where he's averaging twenty nine,

(21:20):
eight and seven like he did this year. I don't know,
but but it's kind of like the Tom Brady thing, right,
It's like Tom Brady and I know that statistically he
had a good year, but you could tell that he
lost a lot after this, you know, this this past season,
and I think it got to the point there was
obviously a lot of stuff going on in his personal life,
which played a role in why he decided to step away.
But I also think he knew that I'm not the

(21:41):
dude that I was even three years ago, and so
with Lebron, I assume when you've been so great for
so long. I don't think he just wants to be
the guy that that averages, you know, thirteen four and
three as the sixth man like that. That's not who
he's going to be. So I think he's got a
few few good years left. I will say, with the
West as wide open as it is, I know we say,

(22:02):
we've said it before, but this feels like the last
best shot to make a real run. I would take
advantage of it if I could, if I was him,
But obviously a lot of steps in between. But I
do like the way this team has been playing, in
the way they're constructed post NBA trade deadline. Well, right now,
Lebron's only focus is to win a championship. Years from now,
that will be the number two thing in his life

(22:24):
is to win a championship. The number one thing is too,
I believe it, I could be wrong, is to play
with his son Brawny. Yeah, I think he would. I
think He'd rather do that than anything in the world.
I think winning at championship with his son would be
the ultimate for him. But I really think if he
could play with his son and have fun, he'll play
for a long long time. What do you think, Aaron,

(22:46):
I don't know how I think about that. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
He's Aaron Torres Amarti Spaniard in for Jason Smith at
his best friend Mike Carmen's would come to you alive
from the tire IRAQ dot com studios right now. Minnesota
and the Lakers of Minnesota, I believe at a one

(23:08):
point lead eighteen seventeen, little over two minutes left in
the first there, so it's gonna be a battle. It's
gonna be a good one. Looking forward to it, and
we'll see exactly if Minnesota is gonna be able to
keep this up the entire game. I guess they're not
gonna be as much of Rudy Gobert, which was an embarrassment.
What'd you think about that punch? The whole thing's an embarrassment.

(23:29):
What's going on there, especially what's going on with Rudy Gobert. Aaron,
I mean it was a bad look. Can't punch teammate.
I just I still go back to the trade to
begin with. I mean, I know that Karl Anthony Towns
could play on the Yeah, Like I just go back
to like we all agreed, okay, like there's a ceiling
to what you can do with Rudy Gobert on your team.

(23:50):
And it had run its course with Donovan Mitch who
was obviously a very good player in his own right.
And I was on air with Dan Bayer and Matzi
because I remember Mantzi giving us the update, like they
gave up what to get what? How many picks and
how many players? And like you know, some of the
players they get, like Walker Kesler was good as a rookie.
This year, the draft picks are gonna mean something. And
so I just still go back to the trade itself.

(24:12):
Was like I know that, you know last year you
made the play in and he had the Patrick Beverlely
moment and he's jumping on the scores table and Anthony
Edwards is this rising star and we gotta make a
move and we got to prove that we're here to stay.
I just don't think that was the move to make,
and I certainly don't think it was the move to
make to give up as much as they did to
get him. So, like, what did I think of the punch?

(24:32):
I thought it was bad, But I also thought it
was frustration boiling over from what was obviously a little
bit of a disappointing season where the team expected more
and where I'm sure Rudy Gobert expected more from himself
as well. It's been a rough couple of years, let's
be honest, for Rudy Gobert, ever since he used to
face like Covid in the NBA. By goodness, he's never
gonna live that that we all remember to this day.
It's like, do you remember where you were when Rudy

(24:53):
Gobert was touching all the microphones and all the tape
recorders or whatever it was on there getting everybody sick,
and that was the start of everything out there. You know,
I remember where I was. I was in Vegas, I
you know I was. I was in a sports book.
You know. It was during the Pac twelve tournament, and
like the good teams were supposed to start playing the
next day. You know, it was kind of set it down. Yeah, yeah,

(25:13):
like the it was that playing day where you have
the bad game. So I'm there to go to the
games the next day and I'm sitting there in the
sports book and you know, you kind of hear about
this COVID thing and then uh, you know, they're pulling
guys off the court in Oklahoma City. So I will
never forget where I was or how that went down.
I'm sure a lot of people feel the same. But
it is funny or ironic maybe is the right word,

(25:34):
because people don't say, oh, where were you when they
say where were you when the Rudy Gobert situation appen?
When Rudy Gobert tested positive and U and the rest
is history, so that it wasn't so funny back then.
I'm sure it wasn't so funny for Rudy Gobert. Could
you imagine the emails? Um it would have gotten that
he would have checked on his email, Like, oh, we
could imagine some of the stuff. Um, Like I said,

(25:56):
best way to get a hold of a hold of
us at Aaron underscore to our I'm at stinking genius one,
Rick says Arnie, you are the best I know. You've
been in the business a long time. I think you
were in La or Vegas when I started listening to you.
Correct me if I'm wrong. My memories not too good
these days. Then I lost track and boom, you're hearing Vermont.
I'm a Mariner, so welcome aboard. I've been hearing Vermont

(26:17):
like ten years now, kim So and you you moved
there for your son's hockey, right, yeah, well witness that
a witness regal case? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no.
Somebody asked me. They were like, how did he end
up in in Vermont? And I was like, well, you know,
I worked with him for five years. I should probably
know this, but I thought it was because I know
your son was at the time of huge hockey players
and the funny no matter where I bring up, I

(26:37):
always tell about Even today, I told my wife, you know,
wouldn't that be great if we could move back to
Arizona because we both went to school in Tucson, or
go back to like Phoenix. And she's like, no, and
stop bringing it up. I'm never gonna go back there. Wow.
Why she's a Buffalo girl, that's why. Yeah. But it's
so hot, but she loved it. When when we had
to leave after our wedding, she cried like yeah, like

(26:57):
you wouldn't believe. Now she would never go back. Actually,
she wants something to do with California, Arizona, Colorado, Um, Montana, nothing,
West Man. I can't go West coast anymore. It's not
even South Dakota, not even not even the Dakotas. I
can't wow. Shot fired into our beautiful Fargo affiliate. That's

(27:18):
the only place she's gonna go is either here or
New Hampshire. What about my New York Knicks. Take it
on the Cavaliers. They'll get a week. Hopey as Julius
Randall will be healthy, though, I gotta tell you they've
they've got good even without Randall. It's just as long
as Brunson is going to be healthy. I know we've
sat out the last two games. I believe for the
New York Knicks, they're pretty much solidified in that number

(27:38):
five slot. That's gonna be a good series. The Nicks
took three or four, I believe against Cleveland. Cleveland is
a six point favorite in game number one. I really
love the upset and this what I know it's because
I'm a Nick fan and all that Pike gives me
grief over that. But the Knicks have been playing good
ball this year. They really turned it on. That's gonna

(27:59):
be a great series that That's one that's kind of
coming under the radar. Bes everybody's worried about what's going
to go on with the Warriors in Sacramento or now
that Atlanta won against Celtics. There's a lot of good
first round series out there. Yeah, this is what I'm
looking forward to the most because I think it's a
combination of like guys that we know Donovan Mitchell most specifically, well,

(28:20):
I think guys that we're learning about right like Evan Mobley.
This is really I know they had a playing game
last year, but this is like the first big stage
that he's on the Knicks. I know they made the
playoffs two years ago, but they lose pretty early to
Trey Young and the Hawks. So you get that coreback
with Jalen Brunson, and we know Jalen Brunson from the MAVs.
But you know, for people that don't watch the NBA
on a night tonight basis don't live in New York,

(28:41):
we haven't really seen him very much in that starring role.
So I would say out of all of the playoff series,
that one as long as well as obviously the other
four or five matchup the Sun's Clippers in the West,
I would say those two are probably the ones I'm
most excited about. Now. You don't get to see a
lot of New York Nick games out there too, exactly. Yeah,
because you don't have MSG. You gotta have Madison Square
Guard Network pretty much to get the Nick games out there,

(29:03):
you know, That's what I'm saying. So for you know,
like like yeah, I mean, I've I know Jalen Brunts
in the player and I remember him from from Dallas,
and I've seen him periodically with the Knicks. But to
have a national stage like this, I think it'll be
pretty cool. They're at the end of the first Minnesota
leads the Lakers twenty A, twenty two. Um. Anything to
worry about, just jennif you're a Laker fan, torrez or Um,

(29:24):
it's just the end of the first doll panic. It's
a long way to go in this one. Yes, I
would say it's probably a little bit premature, but they
should get your attention when it day when it say
one game thing is like the NC double a tournament.
One game and you're gone. I feels kind of like
halftime in college. Um, look, it's only the end of
the first but they certainly should have your attention right now,
you know, I guess. I mean it's it's a one

(29:46):
game thing, but it's not really a one game thing
because if the Lakers lose, they still would be able
to play a second game to get in as the
eight seed. But I think the point still stands. Right.
It feels like, you know, Memphis, even though they have
the two seed, is a little bit. You know, they're
a younger team. How good are they? John Moran had
his off the court issues blah blah blah blah blah.

(30:07):
So this feels like probably the draw that they want.
And then the other thing is then you don't want
to be in that true single elimination game later in
the week against the winner of the New Orleans Oklahoma
City game. So to your point, I think it's a
little early if you're a Lakers fan to be worried,
but you would have liked to see a better effort
to start from your boys. All right. The segment brought

gonna explain when we get back. That's coming up next

(30:49):
as we're sending it for the guys. Tonight, Jason Smith

(31:10):
She wanted you to wait. Let me tell you a
story of my situation. I was talking to the girl
from the US Nation. The way that I met her
was on the door, and that's a Jeff long hair
in a short mini skirt. I just got off stag
you like well, I was a very u I started
doing bast and started come on, you're going to back.
I'm loving this song? Is this biz marking you know,

(31:34):
you know it's so bad. What's the kind? I need
some context behind here? Go ahead, Yeah, I'm going for that.
What do you need to know? You you you got
what I need? But you say he's just the friend
and you say he's jus the friend, baby, since you

(31:55):
serenading g Buss at Year Junior proper, that's what I
tried out for American Idol. No it isn't. Simon gave
me the buzzer. What's the story? Chris Perfett found that
the other night. I need some I need the story
that was I went to uh we were I was
working in Dallas and we had karaoke night. Oh well
it was actually be alcohol and karaoke night. Sure, So

(32:19):
that was that was my song that I chose for karaoke.
And then you got fired from the station of Daily.
I wish I would say would have fired me after
that song. But it did sound exactly like biz Marken though,
didn't it a little bit? A little? It sounded like
PARTI Spanier trying to sing Bismarkes. Wow, Wow, I thought
that sounded pretty good. Really, actually give it like a

(32:40):
D minus, but you know D minus, yeah, give or
take maybe a D on a curve right now, Lakers
trail thirty five twenty nine that they were down by ten,
now down by six, nine twenty left in the second.
We'll keep you update on that. David, excuse me, Sean writes,
And why are you guys down filling in for the
Dan Patrick's show this week? You gotta ask the I

(33:03):
mean he just said you want to work with Arnie.
I said, not really, but you know, desperate times called
for desperate Well, there's there's there's a few reasons for that. One. Um,
I am not allowed to be in the same studio
as my co host, um as I have a violent tendency.
So what is it? So, were you gonna come out
to LA to host because I think the dude Dan
Patrick's show, you have to be in LA. Oh really? Yeah? So, um,

(33:27):
I'm not allowed and I'm not allowed to be on
the air when the sun is out? That should that?
I that I very much believe, right right. And also
I'm not allowed to fill in a lot because they're
afraid of what it's gonna come out of my mouth. Yes,
that I also very much believe. Yes, Yeah, they're totally
a friend. I think that's what I've been told too,
and they're like, we can't even we don't know what's
even coming out of your mouth from time to time.

(33:50):
I mean, I mean, I don't. I mean, you know,
you know I'm in trouble, by the way, from the
from the bosses because of my prediction of Arizona to
win the whole thing. Because you know, I'm I'm, I'm
more than just I Candy. There's a higher expectations for me.
So I have to make sure my NBA pick is
right on and my Super Bowl pick is right on,
or me plank and the Sager could be fired. Oh wow,

(34:12):
I don't think you have that power to get to
Sager right now, you're sell we're all a team. We're
all a team on Sundays, so we you know, we're
hired as a team and fired as a team. Interesting.
I didn't know that. Wow. Good thing. Good thing. I
wasn't hired or fired with you on Saturdays because you
gotta let go a long time ago. Wow. No, No,
I'm telling you, I feel h I feel good about
my knicks. That might be my pick to win the

(34:33):
championship in Wow, and I've already I already picked the
Dolphins in the Super Bowl. Wow, you don't even know
who their quarterback is, Tyreek Hills talking about retirement. Stop it,
stop it. Okay, we know two as the quarterback. What's
the over under a number of games he plays like
six and a half. Oh wow, See, don't don't start
chinsing me. I don't. I don't need that. I want

(34:54):
two to be healthy. I love too. We used to.
We used to host all those Saturday nights watching do
it Together real quick. I want to pay off the tease.
Now you're gonna get me in trouble with the boss ef.
I don't pay off the tease. Um. I guess Stephen A.
Smith is gonna have something like a Manning cast? One
would you watch? Does Stephen A? Smith Cast? I guess too.
Do we really need it in basketball? Um? Like we

(35:16):
needed in football? I think it's I think it's better
when you have somebody explaining it in football. I don't don't.
I don't think we need it in basketball. You don't?
Can I share? How? Take? Yeah? Yeah? Go ahead. I
don't even like the Manning cast. I think it's fine,
but like a little bit, when I tune into a game,
I want to watch a game and it's not like, yeah,
it's not like those guys are bad. It's not like, oh,
Eli Manning is the worst thing that's ever happened to television.

(35:40):
But like, you know, I get that they have some
cool interviews. Like I'm not saying they don't, but I
like when I tune into a RAMS forty nine ers
Monday night game, I want to watch the Rams in
forty nine ers. So to answer your question, UM, I
think we're overdoing it a little bit with the extra,
you know, second screen stuff, Like I don't know when
I watch a game, I just want to watch the game.

(36:01):
And that goes not only for you know, the NFL,
but the NBA. I know, the women's tournament, they had
like a Diana Terrazzi second screen, and it's like, I
just kind of is not the one where a Little
Wayne was on it? Is that the one where there
might have been smoke coming out of Little Wayne's box?
Is that you're talking about that? I don't know. I mean,
I was in Houston watching my team win a national
championship during the women's final four, so I wasn't watching

(36:23):
the women's final I was watching there was smoke, and
they brought it up to what is that going on
there a little way? What's out there that you know
in your house there that the smoke coming out of all.
I hope he was okay, everything working out all the
fire department, right, yeah, something like that, something like that
for sure. I don't think we need to break it
down there. Whatever we can say. That's the pick and
roll everybody. I mean, that's what I'm saying. Especially when

(36:46):
it's one thirty one, twenty eight. How many times are
you gonna tell me there was a pick and roll
or something like that? So I'm with you. Yeah, our
number one just flew on by. I mean, we just
crushed it. We're gonna come on back. We'll get your updated.
What's going on with the Lake. We got some NFL
to talk about, plus big news coming out about the
Sunday ticket. You have better pony up, my friends, because

(37:08):
it's gonna cause you some serious though. All that coming
up right here on Fox Sports Radio
