Speaker 3 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside, Happy Tuesday, The Jason Smith Show with.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
My bes friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Right buddy, live from the tire rack dot Com studios
tirack dot com. I'll help you get there at unmached selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection at over ten

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Ti rack dot com. The way tire buying should mix.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yo, let me stop all of you jerks right off
the bat. Why everything is fine? We split I'll see
you at MSG.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I was not real happy that TIMS had the starters
in late so Julius Randall could go in for a
dunk and fall on his butt and have to come
out of the game. Why the hell is he in
a twenty point game with two minutes left to go?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
What the hell? Is Tim's doing. There's a lot to
be learn there. We gotta play hard for forty eight.
There's no slacking, there's no minutes off. Stick a bosst
our ass all the way through. Stop.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Don't don't give me your fake outrage on the Knicks.
You just want to make fun of the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
I'm the guy that was right, That was me being
I'm the guy for outragelw I'm the danger.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I'm the danger. Everything is fine. I will see you
at MSG for game three. Good luck, Spider Mitchell.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Oh suddenly, yeah, guess why the manual quickly is going
for fifty Watch what happens at MSG. It's like that Bramo,
Andy Cohen, Joe, watch what happens? Yeah, you got LeVert
and not the not the smugsician. Yeah, exactly, going for
twenty four off. Yeah no, that was Yeah, tonight was
tonight most not a good night the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
I And this is one of those stats just blow
you away. I think the Cavaliers in the in the
in the second quarter had nineteen points off.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Of like like like ten Knicks turnovers, some crazy number
like that.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
It was just this was just not the next night, right,
But you know what that's the thing, Okay, was it?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
You walk away and you'd rather get blown out than
than squeak one out, and now you can well even
but Tims had everybody still playing, so yeah, like they
got the rest. Why are they all? This is what
you would want?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, look, this is a blowout game. But the Cavaliers
played well.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
They won. Garland had thirty two, he was huge tonight, yeah,
and Lavert had twenty four off the bench. Look, they
the Cavaliers were a good team. They you know, they
won fifty games. They certainly have the right to win
a game at home. All right, I'm go in tough.
They the right at home. Yes, they have the right
to win one game at home. Right, So the magnanimous
of you.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
But I really, I really am sitting there, go I really,
And I'm like, why why is Julius ran It's a
twenty point game, there's two minutes left to go, and
Julius randalld gets loose down the floor for a breakaway.
Done next, except except Jared Allen decides I'm gonna go
up and challenge it.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Tell Allan, tell Allan, And I'm gonna go up and
challenge it.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
And things get a little weird and Julius Randall comes
down out of control, right on his back, takes it
a little bit to get up.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
He does hit the free throw. He was walking around fine,
but then right afterwards they took him out of the game,
took him to the locker room. And I'm just sitting
here going you know, I just tweeted out, I just
tweeted out, see you at MSG.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Everything is fine. And then Julius Randall to breakaway, dunk
and go. Why is this happening? Why is Julius Randall
still in the game? Why is he in the game?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Why?

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Why is anybody playing any minutes in the game? Why
is Jared Jeffries not in the game? Right?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Why is Steve Novak not in the game? Why are
these guys not? Why is Mellow not in the game
at this point?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Where was.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I would have gone for all, let's go. Was Chris
Child's not in the game? Where or where are all
of these players?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Right? Why? Why? Why? Why is Julius Randall in the game?
Two minutes to go and you're down twenty because you know,
it's not just about Hey, these guys are in the
game and it's and it's and you're down twenty. Okay,
we're playing out the last couple of minutes, you know,
the last couple of minutes of blowouts get chippy on
both sides because a team is frustrated from getting blown

(04:24):
out and a team is feeling chesty from winning by
twenty points, and things get out of control. That's why
the last take your guys out, take your starters out.
What do you what do you think if they had
the MTV rock and Jock Hooper, you could hit a
twenty and get back. Okay, then I understand, But what
what is Tom Timmindhoe doing. I don't understand. Why is
juling the character I like playing the character Jason. I mean,

(04:46):
this is no surprise. It should be. It comes no
shock to you whatsoever that this is what he does
in a situation where it was clear, throw the damn
towel and go back to New York where everybody's complaining
about ticket price, supply and demand. People basic economic principles.
Look it up. But the idea that Thibodeau did this, no,

(05:08):
it's completely and why you watched Chicago Bulls team after
Chicago Bulls team burn out in April and maybe eke
into the playoffs only to have nothing left or to
have guys suddenly hobbled at the end because the minutes
have all piled up and heavy load minutes. And so
for the Knicks, this this is completely unscript that you

(05:31):
would have the situation. Now, Alan going going to Randall, Uh,
we want to get the backstory. This is the behind
the music kind of moment of why why are you
still challenging no free buckets? Did they have a bet
that they'd be able to keep them to ninety or lower?
Because I know there's no tacos or sandwiches at anything.
When you know, I think to that level of the ineptitude,

(05:52):
I think they take food away from you. If that happens,
forget about I think you have pack in.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yeah, I need more money if you want your post
game spread out, forget about free tacos.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I'm taking stuff away from you. At twenty five dollars
a day, you getting meal money. Now, I'm taking that
all back down.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Dan Gilbert makes you take out a mortgage.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Oh one o seven to ninety is what was his
one oh seven to ninety?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
And really I don't but you know it doesn't matter.
We won the game. We needed to win again that
was the only one you're gonna wears the Cavaliers are.
They have the right to win one game at home.
It's fine, it's at everything. As long as Julius Randall
is fine, Everything is fine. Everyone see you at MSG.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
It's gonna be three to one Nicks right now, one game, right,
it's gonna be three one Nicks after after going back
to Cleveland for the closer.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, you're happy. Yeah, happy. Now, that's how it's gonna go.
You couldn't reco wrong. That's where we're.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Going, Mike. He says he's a die hard Necks fan, right, Yeah,
I don't see him offering Julius Randall's arm yet. No,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Oh, if he needs why don't I give it to him?

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah, I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, we're going all way, hang on, hang on, well,
let's let's hang on. I gotta no, No, let's be real.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
The thing I would do is give him my dad's limbs,
because my dad's older than I am, and he's had
him for longer, so my dad's limbs are going to be.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Any in mind.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Again.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
No, my dad's still wiry. My dad's still wiry a
little bit. Yeah, yeah, I mean that's supposed to throw out. No,
my dad, my dad. Honestly, my dad has Here's the thing,
my dad, he doesn't have huge hands, he has huge fingers.
His the fingernails on his thumb have to be about
three inches wide. It's amazing my dad did. Dad, what

(07:30):
kind of pitches could you throw on your kid? Your thumb?
I mean his like thumbnail is like three inches wide.
I'm like, Dad, you might have been able to throw
some kind of you know, forkball or corkscrew pitch, whatever
it was. My dad's hands are huge. He bought the
basketball and he always fingers are just wide. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
No, no, you'd want my dad. You don't want my
panda bare hands unless you absolutely have to have them.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
But I mean they're soft because they haven't done not
his day's work ever. Yeah, what do you mean honest
day's work? I'm seeing you do the same exact bleeping
thing I do. Jerk okay, and I do so much
more work than you do because I put so much
more energy into my teams and making them play well
than you ever do.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
That workout today doesn't matter, doesn't matter. Where's your team,
where's your team?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
You didn't work?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
You know what you didn't work hard enough. You didn't
were as a fan. You did not work hard enough.
Tell me what time the Bulls game is tomorrow? Tell
me what time the Bulls play? What time do they play?

Speaker 1 (08:22):
They're long done and they wait talent and slack. Who
was it not.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Too long ago that was blaming the fans for not
doing that? Who was it that said the fans didn't
haven't been doing their job? We talked about that.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Who was it that said that the fans have been
doing their job? Because that's you. You've not been doing
your job. No, really, I've been carrying them so many years.
Eventually your body breaks.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
I mean, look at my team. Look the Knicks are
in the playoffs. The Mets are in the playoffs. Last year,
the Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers. Syracuses, got people coming
from the transfer portal.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
No, I'm doing my job. You're not doing anything. You
got to though, because we didn't try to motivate guys
like call you, calling him west Brick or something like that,
they might come into your suite and come get you.
You so things like that. No, like I'll take it.
But you know, it's been a long, hard road with
both of our teams. Yeah, and it requires a very
strong back with the the inadequacies of pretty much every

(09:19):
squad that we've had running that we cheer for. Really
truly tough road.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
Hey guys, it was justin fields.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Oh, that's right, it was justin fields. That's right, it
was justin fields. Yes, justin Field been doing enough.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
I did my best for him, and then today it
was all about justin fields versus Davis Mills numbers. So
I had everybody head exploding. So all those good things.
But you know, to take it back to brass tacks. Uh,
you are correct. You did get your split. So even
though it's a blowout again, you wish they weren't in

(09:54):
the game in the final minutes to let anything potentially
chaotic happen, but is It's only one game, and in
the end, the Knicks were out of this long enough
where I didn't have to worry about stressing about wy Boy,
what do you watch the Knicks or the Mets? No?

Speaker 3 (10:11):
No, no, The Knicks cleared the decks for the Mets. Dodgers.
All good, all good, everybody look the win two. Even
the Yankees got out of the way for the Mets.
I mean, everybody got out of the way for the
Mets tonight. It's gets working out pretty good right now.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
And now I got Zubach getting after it tonight. Shoe
brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy
and affordable. Get a multi policy discun by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,

Bundle and save at Progressive dot Com. Uh. Yes. The
other two games of the NBA tonight, Boston another big win. Uh.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
They beat Atlanta one nineteen, one oh six. So far
they have completely outclassed the Hawks and the Series and
the Clippers and the Suns. Right now, early in the
first quarter eleven eleven and so far, Russell Westbrook, I
don't believe has had any interferences with fans. I think
that's been not Yeah, I mean it's early. I mean
it's it's really early. But he has not had any

(11:08):
instances where he's got after fan yet, So I think
we're okay.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Well, does he could he do a full Draymond at
any point? He really tries to incite a full fan base,
like we talked about, like it was a wrestling pay
per view. My God on the Desert yeah, Westbrook. Westbrook
last night was like, oh Westbrook.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Like after Sunday was like, man, they're gonna be talking
about me a lot now, my big play at the
end of the game, my thing with a fan. They're
gonna talk about me for three days. And Draymond Green said, hey,
watch this. I don't know what he's doing. Now, what
is Westbrook gonna do to gain the headlines back? I mean,
Draymond now was a pretty big deal last night stopping
on some honess and yelling at the crowd like he's
a w W wrestler. Oh yeah, how does Westbrook get

(11:49):
it back tonight? I don't know, to be pretty tough,
yeah we got that.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
We got Scott Foster in the building to referee this game,
and yeah, he trend it all day long. You know, honestly,
NBA just trolling Peach just for just.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
For he is he is he He actually held up
the Larry O'Brien trophy the last time night Champions.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I mean, he's putting the belt on the lot, honestly.
So seriously, seriously, how does the NBA continue to send
Scott Foster to Chris Paull. I mean, really, you don't
have to not send him, you know, obviously don't want
to make it look like, okay, well this is going on,
so we're not sending official here, We're not saying official.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
How about you just don't send him for a playoff games.
How About you can send him during the regular but
you don't sen him during playoff games when you obviously
know there is something going on. When a guy's record,
when a certain person officiates, their team loses all the time,
how do you still do that?

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Seventeen straight up two and seventeen against the spread with
Foster officiating. I mean, I mean really, I mean, don't
you want Katie in the playoffs a little bit longer?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I mean, really, you really want Kawhi? You really want that.
I don't understand how they keep sending him. I really don't.
I mean, I know, because the league knows who they're said.
They absolutely know, Hey, we know who's going where and
what and what kind of game we want officiated because
of what happened the night before.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
They know who they're saying.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
I just can't believe that it's it's gotten to the
point where they're setting him and it's just everybody shrugs
shoulders and says Okay, let's see what happens here.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Honey, it's Adam Silver. Oh man, what else does he
do but shrug his shoulders?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
I tell you, yeah, you're right, You're right, Twitter, And
how about a fresca? Mike gets swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike.

Speaker 1 (13:31):

Speaker 3 (13:33):

going to happen to Draymond Green after his antics last night.
And waital we tell you what it's gonna be. That's

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Yes, Frostburg, how many strikeouts for Kershaw so far?

Speaker 1 (15:17):
TJ. Kershaw was definitely the wrathchild. That inning against the Mets,
after a leadoff error, Tejer, you didn't think I was
gonna get wrath Child, Rathchild, come on in. Uh yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
The first batter of the game, Brandon Nemo hits a
routine flyball to right field, except Hayward does his Dorothy,
it's a twister. It's a twister. An em an em
an em falls down, can't get it, and Brandon Neimo
winds up on third base. Okay, and then the Mets
turned into no runs as Darling Marte, Francisco Lindor, and

(15:54):
Pete Alonzo all strikeout.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Swing. Hayward is just getting used to the outfield. I mean,
it's he's due to the major leagues. Oh yeah, yeah,
in this entire process.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
So you know his cleats might be new, yeah, you know,
I mean, you know, the wall may have moved a
little bit on.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Maybe he was auditioning for the Mets.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
But I'm I'm watching this and I'm going the Mets
are gonna turn this into no As soon as Marte
struck out, I said, the Mets are gonna turn this
to no runs because I know the at bat that
Lindora is gonna have, He's gonna wave it a cur
because this is what he does. He has that bats.
I look at Lindor and I go, what is his
plan this at bat? Look, I don't know that he
has a plane just swinging. He's just sweat and I
knew he was gonna strike out and then two outs

(16:33):
runner at third. Okay, what are the odds after that?
And Alonzo strikes out and so now nothing nothing. At
least they made Kerschan throw a bunch of pitches, so
at least there's out. He threw like twenty two twenty
three pitches in the first.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
In Yeah, I mean on the plus side, I mean, look,
nobody wants to to really hit until your guy Freddy Freeman,
his dominance. It's gonna walk him every time. First, just
gonna walk him every time. Isn't it time for a
rest day for Freddy Freeman? Is it? Chidney? Sydney set out?
Today is off until the Mets leave town by the way,

(17:02):
La tonight a big celebration. Then Scully seventy three years
ago today called his first game and the fine how
do you do here from Brooklyn? Oh? Yes, seventy three
years ago today? Goodness, Wow, he was, he's he's been
doing he was doing games as long as my dad
was alive. My dad's still alive. Before my dad was alive,

(17:24):
before my dad was like that, I thought you, my
dad has fled back some information on No.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
No, I know, well, the last segment we were cutting
off by parts of my dad's anatomy for different reasons,
so I wanted.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
To hear he is Walter.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Yeah, no, no, no, it's it's yeah, It's definitely comes together.
We took we took Benny, you know, my dog, to
to a dog park the other day and he was
playing with this one dog and I said, oh, I said,
what's your dog's name? And she goes, oh, his name
is Walter. And I said, you're kidding. That's my dad's name.
And then somebody just starts cracking up and she goes, yeah,
my son named it Walter. And I go, why name
it Walter?

Speaker 1 (17:58):
He goes, he just thought it was a fun And
I'm like, wow, I just told you my dad's name
is Walter, and you just told me your kid thinks
Walter's a funny. Now I've just told you that was
my dad's name. I just told you that was what
the Ron Burgundy named his kid name Walter. Yeah that
he did, yeah Walter, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah you did.
All right, let's get going well. Uh So right.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Now in the NBA, uh, after the Knicks drop a
heartbreaker to the Cavaliers, one fifty close game all the
way through Jalen Brunson a quadruple uh, the Clippers and
the Suns right now late in the first quarter, Clippers
up twenty one to nineteen so far for the Clips,
Gordon leading the way with six.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Uh. It is KD with six along with six for
Devin Booker. Tonight for Phoenix, who are sitting here in
an absolute must win scenario because they date, they get
down in game one and this this has to be
a w. But Scott Foster is officiating, so it really
is anybody's game. No, it is true. I mean, we
we know the history with Chris Paul Wee chronicles before.

(19:01):
I believe there's actually some positivity when it comes to
Kevin Durant, so you know, the scales of Lady Justice
and the NBA Gods. We'll see how that flows as
the night goes on. What I do know is Russell
Westbrook is playing like a man possessed. He's a guy
that's finally gotten some positive feedback for those final minutes
and game. Yeah, from that fan he got he got
positive feedback from that fan. Then do you talk to him. Yeah,

(19:22):
he loved he was full of love for him. Well,
he went out and played in spite like he could
hit a shot to save his soul. But he did
hit a couple of free throws and played good defense
down the stretch. And right now, it's the excellence of
execution on defense with a lot of histrionics after the fact.
He had a block on KD probably a file, but
it was a block, and so he's flying around in

(19:43):
good energy. Thus far, so fun, fun start to this one,
all right, So.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
We'll have a lot of look, a lot of way,
a lot of my dad would say, a lot of
golf left in this one. Again, late in the first quarter,
Clippers up by a bucket. Meanwhile, we think we know
where things are headed now as far as Draymond Green
and any potential discipline for his foot stomp and theatrics last.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Night against the Sacramento Kings.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Late in the fourth quarter, ball going back up court
to Monte Sabonis of the Kings is on the grapt
and he grabs Draymond Green around his ankles. Draymond Green
did not like that, and he got up and he
and he very directly and I I I don't want
to say, well, I don't know if we're gonna go

(20:28):
w but but he very distinctly stomped on Sabonis's stomach,
went down court, got called for the foul, got called
from the flagrant to and ejective, went and stood on
the on the on the bench, screaming at the fans
who were screaming right back at him, completely out of control.
And what did we say last night? The most nervous

(20:49):
guy in the world is Adam Silver because he wants
to do nothing right. How many times have we said this?
He doesn't want to do anything, And now it looks
like that's exactly what's going on. Chance Tarania had the
report earlier today that likely there will be no discipline
for Draymond Green. Now probably they're going to they're going
to lean on the fact that well Sibonas kind of

(21:10):
grabbed his grabbed around the ankle. So that's maybe why
there's no Draymond Green footstomped him. You can't footstomp a
guy and not get suspended. But Adam Silver has no spine.
He is gutless. He has been gutless since the moment
he became commissioner. He couldn't even he couldn't take Mark
Cuban away from the Mavericks after that, that huge domestic

(21:31):
violent situation. To go, dude, you admittedly fostered a situation
where you had a guy that you kept him on
staff so you could keep an eye on him. He
wants to do nothing because he doesn't want to have
anything that could wind up being me versus somebody else.
And Draymond Green is a very powerful NBA player. He's
got a very powerful voice, very popular, gonna be on
TV for a long time after his career is over.

(21:53):
He went in the in the press conference afterwards, no remorse,
no nothing, and it looks like no suspension and Adam
Silver is nowhere to be found. I thought, for sure,
well this is and you gotta give him a game.
You have to, you have no choice. Just watch a
guy footstomp a guy on national TV. But that doesn't happen.
I mean, Adam Silver is gutless. And when when you
look back on his reign with the NBA, right, we

(22:15):
look back on David Stern's reign, and we give him
credit for being a great businessman and for doing stuff
for the NBA and bringing them to a level that
nobody thought they could be at. He was someone that
it was. It was his NBA and the growth of
the NBA obviously over the Michael Jordan watch, but it
was his NBA and his business decisions being able to
move things, and the NBA is what it is now

(22:37):
and a lot of people are rich like they are
now because David Stern knew what he was doing as commissioner.
When they close the book on Adam Silver, we're gonna
look back, kind of like when you in in in
history when you go you do like the Greek and
Roman times, and then you go to United States, they go, well,
this Roman emperor was known for this, and this Roman
emperor was known for this, and this Greek emperor.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Was known for this. They're gonna go back and say, boy,
Adam Silver, this was the salad days for the NBA
player because the players and owners got to do whatever
the hell they wanted to and they didn't care because
Adam Silver didn't want to do anything. Teams tanked and
there was barely a ripple.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Nobody got nobody got suspended, nobody got draft picks taken away,
and they got fines. What about when players do Nope, Nope,
there were no suspensions. There were no fines because the
commissioner was afraid.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
To do anything. He is absolutely spineless and he's been
this way. He was.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Look today, he was all happy talking about how hey,
next year our big mid season tournament and we're gonna
have changed location.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
What what about Dre what about what happened last week? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:38):
What what about this? You're not talking about this at all?
What's going on here? I mean it, he's spineless, absolutely spineless. Well,
I give you a.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Big hug, and I say, I hate to say, I
told you so to you what was gonna happen last week?

Speaker 3 (23:50):
I should have listened to you. I thought he's got
It's national TV. Everybody saw it. It's not like but no,
now it looks like we're not gonna get it.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
He but also, Jason, you had how many NBA players
current and former came out going whatever and Lillard on down.
So so I think once you got.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Players, you have but players always gonna have other players
backs like they they're gonna but.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
They didn't have back. He's the guy to get stopped
on well, because they all want to be on Draymond's podcast,
I mean radio podcast. Who would who would you side with?
You said, Okay, I got a side with somebody here?
Do I got a side with Demonta Sabonis or to
have to side with Draymond Green.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Draymond's a pretty big deal. He's gonna be on TV
all these efferent things. Okay, yeah, Draymond, I'm on Draymond's side.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
I was thinking it would be more for the I
don't want to get my ass stomped if I'm on
the ground. Of course, I wouldn't be an idiot try
to grab anybody's ankle while laying on the ground. So
again Sibonis with with that foolishness, and you go back
to the Subruder film, and there were a couple of
other plays on Steph Curry that were pretty dangerous.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
You know when we go to defensive player kind of
an analysis in the NFL, we had those with Curry
on shots and his inability to get down because some
bonis took up that space and created contact where they
didn't need to be. So there might have been some
some latent and residual hatred and aggressiveness showing there not

(25:16):
to mention Draymond, as he told us in his post
game you know, they're at my ankles yesterday or in
game one, they're at my game my ankles now, and
they're just watching and they're just standing around. But Adam Silvery,
you suddenly thought, after years of campaigning that he's to
do nothing, Commissioner, that he would do something. I'll tell you,
but I appreciate it her hope that people could change,

(25:38):
but this wasn't gonna be it.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
If I could change, you could see a lot of
change in here, and he could change, and you could change,
and I could change my underwear, and I could change
my socks, and I could change socks with you, and
you give me your socks and all where you're Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
But now you're gonna watch game three to see how
it escalates. You know what kind of tom foolery follows
if he's suspended. And the thing you take that.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Off the table, and the thing is just listening to
Draymond last night, just talk with such callousness of they're
not gonna dare suspend me. He's not gonna dare suspend
me for that. They're grabbing my Apparently that's okay.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
But this wasn't.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
And Adam Silver is probably watching you go oh yeah, yeah,
go Draymond's right, Raymond's right, Raymond's right. Let me block
anybody who tries to text me about this.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I mean it.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I watch Adam Silver and I go, I don't understand
how you get this, How you get this kind of
job when you have when you can't make tough decisions.
Because usually the guys that succeed in business and get
and get big jobs like this their cutthroat man.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Not that not that they're all uh not that they're
all success a succession family. But you know, but you
you know, you you make it big, you step on
toes and you learn how to have a killer attitude.
It's how you make it big. It's how you make
it big in business and all kinds of things. This
guy made it the commissioner of the NBA, and he
just wants to sit back and go, I don't ask
me to do anything. I just don't ask me.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I just want to sit back and look at my
nameplate on my desk and that's great, and have everybody
just be happy and something, and I only want to
be the commissioner when something goes well. I don't want
to be the commissioner when I actually have to do something.
I only want to be the commissioner when when things
go well. When things go well, you'll see this is great,
this is great, this is great, this is great. But

(27:19):
when something actually happens, it's very difficult.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
No, no, I'm just nowhere to be found. I am
absolutely nowhere to be found. He was nowhere to be
found on the Mark Cuban tanking thing. We had to
get a we get a statement from Joe Dumars. Really,
Joe D's probably like, hey, dude, really me this seven
hundred and fifty thousand.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Dollars I played on the Bad Boys. I'm not the
guy that comes out with this. You come out with
I gotta do it. You come on, fine, whatever, don't
even call me. Yeah, that announcement at the end of
last week might as well have been here's a throwback
to a Broadway and Vaudeville shows of yesteryear where you

(27:58):
all get to take in pieces of rotten throw it
at the guy on stage because seven hundred and fifty
thousand dollars, I mean what an empty gesture not to
mention all the tanking that was going on this year
in plain sight in the state of Texas with two
other teams, and what you've been allowing to happen for
years because the ratings they are what they are, but

(28:19):
the dollars and cents keep rolling. The global expansion is there,
and everybody's value on their franchises keeps going up. So
the fact that you've got Stars playing just sixty four
games per year on average All Stars this year. Twenty
years ago, it was like seventy four, seventy five games.
Now we're down to almost sixty four games. That's how

(28:40):
they came to that sixty five game threshold for awards,
and it's happened and it's eroded over time because they've
done nothing. And occasionally it's the cake guys, can can
we please get on the court? I mean, you saw
what he did with Lebron James a couple of years ago.
After you had those three games, and in four weeks
on ABC were suddenly to either the Warriors sitting out

(29:02):
or Lebron's sitting out, And suddenly it was the the
pushback from the broadcast partner and they basically begged please,
and what do they have to give up?

Speaker 7 (29:11):
Now?

Speaker 1 (29:12):
We have to change the schedule altogether. Now, Yeah, so
he's a do nothing. He's a do nothing and he
did nothing here absolutely as expected. Get your popcorn ready
for game three?

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Jason, Yeah, you know what else can't be found?

Speaker 1 (29:24):
What else can't be found? JD.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
Martinez is to run bomb? How did I know?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
He thought he was gonna say a Nick's basket?

Speaker 5 (29:32):
He went more recent, It's a brick house.

I will have more on the NBA coming up in
about ten minutes right now, Clippers on top of the
Suns by ten early or midway through the second quarter.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
But what is clearly the best story of the day,
DeMar Hamlin has been cleared to play football once again,
and it is an amazing journey for him from where
he was late in last season when you looked like
you were watching someone who potentially could die on the

(32:03):
field is brought back by the medical staff and is
brought to the hospital and the rallying around him that
was done, the rallying around his toy drive that was done,
and DeMar Hamlin has been cleared to play football once again.
He will resume his career with the Buffalo Bills. Truly
amazing stuff, right how fast this seems. And I know

(32:27):
there's a lot of celebration. He was on social media
doing some press, and you know there's the rallying around
and the celebration of the medical staff and everything that
we've done ever since that first night, and then there's
still that tinge of all right, this is good, right,
you're pausing and going when he's back on the field.

(32:50):
And I know folks were joking about comeback Player of
the Year odds and whatever else coming off of the news.
But it's one of those medical triumphs. But at the
same time, we always have this uneasy affiliation when when
guys have serious injuries and trying to reconcile that when
they're back on the field.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
You know makes sense, No, it does, and and and
here's the thing I'll take it a step further, is
that I get I understand the what you're gonna risk this.
You're gonna risk your life. You almost died on the
field and you're gonna risk it. You're gonna risk it.
But I understand it, right, especially if you're getting a
clear if you're getting a clean bill of heal. If
this was hey, you're not cleared, then I get it, right.

(33:30):
If it's like, hey, we don't know if you should
play again, well, it's what I do, right, Like you know,
like Mickey Rourke and the wrestler dude, if you keep wrestling,
you're gonna but it's what I do. If he didn't
get a clean bill of health. I under you know,
but he's got it. And just think about this for
a second. Right tomorrow. Hamlin's kid, he's twenty five years old.
He has been about football his entire life. Which if
you're going to make it in the NFL, Major League Baseball, bat, NBA,

(33:54):
you gotta be about your sport. If you're undred sixty
five days a year, twenty four hours day, seven days
a week, you have to be about it all the time.
And even then sometimes you're not. You're just not good
enough because there's a lot of people that want to
do it. This has been your dream to make it
to the NFL. Here he is, he's living his dream.
He's in the NFL. He's starting for the Bills, who

(34:16):
are pretty good.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
And then he has the medical issue and it's touch
and go for a while. His life is saved.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
He's back in and you're gonna tell him it's over
and no, I think a lot of people would say, no, no, no.
I'm doing what I can to get back, and if
I can't get back, I can't get back. But I'm
gonna do what I can and if I can do it,
I'm gonna go play because this is my dream, this
is what I want to do.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
I want to come back and do this. And if
you're telling me I'm okay to go play, then I
want to go play because this is this is my
this is my entire life, and this is what I've
wanted to do with my life. And as long as
you tell me I'm okay, I want to go do it.
I get.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
I completely get someone saying, hey, wait, I'm young. This
is I have a very small time in my life
to do things athletically before I have to move on
to something else, very very short time. I completely get
him wanting to do this.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Yeah, it's just it reminds me of the conversations we
were having with two a tongue of Bailoa during the
course of the season. Right, is really what it comes
down to, and again cleared by doctors and back out
there and all of us that are armchair doctors on
the radio and television, sports and otherwise media following this
and fans, you know, trying to wrap our arms around

(35:27):
it and our heads around it because we want to
see people compete. Right, That's what they, like you said,
since they were kids. They're living the dream that we
all had and you want to see them bring it
to you know. It's it's a natural finish as it were,
So I don't think anybody could possibly ever root against
the story and and hope that we have a happy,

(35:48):
healthy return to the field and he becomes the player
that he was starting to show us before the injury,
before that medical situation that we chronicled here on Fox
Sports Radio. Just a huge moment though, and I think
for the NFL and for all medical professionals, one of
those where you do the fist pump because what you did,
your training all came in and it worked.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Unbelievable story, best story of the day. DeMar Hamlin's gonna
get to play football. We're gonna see him on the field.
It is fantastic. Twitter At how about a Fresca Mike
get swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Carmon coming up next to Tyreck dot Com Studios. Yeah,
more on the Clippers and the Suns. Plus an NFL
trade is about to go down. That's gonna be way

(36:31):
bigger than you think it is. And no it's not
Aaron Rodgers that's next right here. This is Fox Sports
radio and the demolition of the Knicks
