Speaker 3 (00:52):
On a day that will forever be known as the
Blue check Mark Massacre, we'll get to that coming up
in a bit.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
A big in the NBA and yay the Sixers beat
the Nets.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yay.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Now I'm gonna hear for the next three days is
how great the Sixers are and overcoming adversity and look
how talented we are, and let's pat ourselves on the back.
Nobody likes to talk about how great they are more
than the seventy six ers doing.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Now we're up three nothing. It's what we're supposed to
be doing. This is it. That's all that's gonna happen,
and we're gonna hear this all.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I told you, Mike. My big fear the other day
was this was gonna be here. The Sixers made noise
in the playoffs because it's a crazy year and you
have injuries all over the place, and this is when
they start going and start talking about how great they
are and thumping their chest and it's gonna be in
every single day thing.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
And that's okay. I mean, if you're winning, you get
to with the spoils. Also comes the ability to grab
a microphone and take over like you're in the middle
of the main event at Rustlemania. That's what you get
to do. That is your prerogative. Now, this game adjudicated
really unfairly and uh confusingly. I think it would be
(02:03):
the kind way to say it. Once again, the officials
front and center here in the NBA playoffs. But to
your point, the Sixers and the Grizzlies are the series.
Everybody wants. Why because they'll just talk at each other.
They don't even have to play basketball. We'll play dozens
and whoever has the better take and gets the crowd
on fire, We'll have some celebrity judges holding up scorecards
(02:25):
they win.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
You know, here's the thing. I don't know that everybody
wants to hear that. Everyone wants to see that. I
want to I think people are kind of sick of
the Grizzlies in there talking, and they're sick of the
Sixers in there talking. I don't know about that much.
I think people want to see the Knicks and the Lakers.
I think that's what everybody want.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Nicks leg I mean, I don't think anybody's clamoring for
the Knicks, Knicks, Lakers and the Lakers. I mean they
gotta go see the Wizard and get some heart. So
they got a problem going on too. So uh, it
just throws everything up. Well, we throw it in a
giant bowler hat and pick out some some at the end,
I think is Laura Nandy.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Now you refer to the first quarter of the game.
Doc Rivers actually talked with us during the broadcast Joel
Embiid trying to get up off the floor, gets tangled
up with one of the Nets players and kicks out
at him, and you see a big time WWE fall
and Joel Embiid gets a flagrant one for it, but
(03:24):
gets to stay in the game. If you've seen this play,
it is one of those. It is not quite to
the level of Draymond Green. This is not a foot
stomp on the chest of another player. This is not
a situation where hey, I injured a guy and he's
heard all the way. But here's Joel Embiid, who I'm
going to get back with a big leg kick and yeah,
flagrant one, so okay, and Doc Rivers talks about it
(03:45):
after the first quarter. That's what teams do now, and
then when you respond, you get suspended. So now here's
the push from the NBA and from players to go
you can't suspend anybody, Okay, be careful what you wish
for if you don't want people to get suspended and
you're upset when guys get suspended. Speaking of suspensions, we
have the Warriors coming up in a few minutes without
Draymond Green, but be careful if you.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Want a world without suspense.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Be careful what you wish for, because you're gonna get
it and you're not gonna like what happens.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Trust me, you want things to be adjudicated.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
You don't want games to get out of control, but
you want to complain and moan and whine about ah suspensions.
And I can't believe the Warriors even took that today,
going oh, we're mad now now they're mad about what
happened to Draymond Green. Really, Draymond Green dared the NBA
to suspend him and they had to suspend them. So yeah,
be careful what you with for if if you want,
if you want this to be refereed a certain way. Okay,
(04:37):
remember the day and time you said that, because I
guarantee you your tune is gonna change at some point
in the near future.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
I can't wait to watch the next games here as
we get ready to flow. No, uh Kawhi Leonard playing
for the Clippers. So if you had that on the
Bengo card, you probably already filled it in before the
news even broke today that that was gonna happen somewhat
along these playoffs.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Do you think do you think you can do it?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Where is there some kind of bet where you can
make where I want to bet certain players are gonna
are gonna be out, are gonna miss games like you.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I think you could probably put you to different casinos.
If you're a super level player, you could be like, hey,
can I get action on this? And they might give
you some odds. Okay, might be one of those casinos
where uh, Clark Griswold was hanging out playing. Uh you know,
guess how many fingers I'm holding up behind my back
kind of thing, you know in games of war and
(05:26):
things of that nature. Uh, But we weren't even three
minutes into this game, Jason, and we had the Claxton
n emb battle. Claxton would then later and get kicked
out for the most softest taunting call of all time.
Yeah do you want to you want to talk about
just let's inject ourselves when we feel like it, And
then on the broadcast like, oh yeah he's taunting. You
(05:49):
have to like really, the other guy did a full
on leg extension kick to the to the nether regions
and everybody went to play on you got your flagrant
one and he does get ejected and Claxton gets a
technical file in that scenario. Why because he's standing over
him like an ass. So once again, you know, you
get into stupidity and both guys act out. Yet somehow,
(06:12):
just because Joel Embiid's gonna finish top three in MVP,
that's okay for him to do. Come on, that's absurd.
And then they throw hard Now for the little nut
shot later, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Just wait for the We overcame adversity. We were able
to You know, tonight was not our best night, but
look at the heroic way we're able to win this.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Gut. I gotta tell you it's all this essay should.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
All stand down. It's all maxiof.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
That's all they're gonna say. That's all they're gonna say.

One plays Bundle and Save at Progressive dot Com. Trust me,
we'll bring you this out. When the Sixers talking about
how heroic they are for winning this, yeah, we have
(06:59):
more NBA on the way. But you know, I don't
like to say I told you so. I really don't,
but once in a while.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yes, I missed last week? How many did I miss guys?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Oh, there's a couple last week justin hell Allan, Yeah,
no few?
Speaker 3 (07:13):
How many? One?
Speaker 4 (07:14):
How many times did I miss a I hate to
say I told you so? Oh at least yeah, I
would thirty seven. I mean I wouldn't say I was
missing it.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
But after the whole Max Schurzer's glove and hands were sticky,
not once, not twice, but thrice.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I told you he was gonna get ten games.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
No, you were like, eighty boy that he's gonna get
ten because they don't know what.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Was on his hand.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
It would sense the sarcasm of the eighty games because.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
He says it was sweat and rosin. What was it? Well,
we don't know. But how mad are you really?
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Like if you are Phil Cuzy, right, just think about
this for a second and you really want to throw
him out. You think he's really doctor in the ball
or doctor in the glove. Don't you try to find
out what it is instead of just throwing him out.
I mean this is where I get a little bit
of yeah, you know the three times guys have been
ejected so far, because he's been the umpire all three times.
Don't you want to try to find out what it is?
(08:08):
Is it if it's more than that, because if you
get caught there, that's a really big deal.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Man, that's a really big deal.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
So yeah, you want a little bit more so the
fact that they couldn't find anything. I told her it's
gonna be ten games, and today Max Scherzer got ten games.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
We know it was gonna be ten games. We were
just trying to goad you into anxious jo.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Stop.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
You guys are dead and you guy, you know, you
guys just were completely out of control last night. You
guys are like Max suers are. After finding out he
got ejected, you guys were complete.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
He swore on his kids' lives. And then as soon
as it came time to hey, are you getting appeal? No,
we're out of control. Yeah, he's the guy that cheated
and we're out of control.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yes, yes, and no. And now you know we're swearing
on your kids' lives. Get you you can still get
a ten games especial, and.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Then you don't appeal it. If you're really on your
kids lives, you'd say, all right, show me the facts,
not just because because he said so.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Doesn't appeal it because he's guilty.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
He knew, Wait TJ.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Why didn't he appeal because he said so? TJ R?
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Well, because all the dopes that had watch Tom Brady
sat out and had his suspension. Look how it darnished everything? Well,
Max susers tainted forever then all.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Right, So.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Max Schurzer was going to appeal his penalty and the
ten thousand dollars was never going thousand dollars. This is
never going to can I do the story frost Perk
after we took two out of three from you despite
the facts that got thrown out.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
That was last week.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
That was like's that week.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
You have to love us now because we're playing the Giants.
That's the best part of tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
You have to go from not liking the Mets until
he's loving us now. Schurezer says he would was initially
going to appeal the penalty uh imposed by Mike Hill,
not that Mike Hill, a different Mike Hill, although would
be kind of fun if Mike Hill was the guy
in charger who's MLB Senior vice President for on field Operations.
But since Schurezer said the appeal was gonna be heard
(10:01):
by Major League Baseball, he decided to begin serving his
suspension immediately. Quote, I thought I was gonna get in
front of a neutral arbitrator, but I wasn't. It was
gonna be through MLB. So given that process, I really wasn't.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Going to come out on top.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
So instead of going through and hey, I'm innocent, I'm innocent,
but your gemma, I'm not gonna win.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, not the best optic man.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
I'm never gonna get it fair shake here, you know,
you get another ten because now you've impugned the integrity
of the league.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
If you know, here's the thing, even if he's gonna
lose it, don't you don't you go if you're if you're.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Innocent, don't you go through the appeals process?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
And I mean I don't. Don't don't they reduce it
by a couple of games? Just done? Principle?
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Well, it's tough, but you're a pitcher because ten games
is two starts. Like, if you reduce it by less
than that, then they're gonna figure out where a picture
missus one start. So that's why that's why you get
the ten games. So I would they have done it
for him, Probably not. But if you're innocent, do you
give up that easy?
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I mean, that's that's the whole thing is, like, Max,
come on, man, I want to believe you. I want to,
but you give up that?
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Ea?
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Oh what you stop?
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Just just stop quit being so dramatic with that, Okay,
Just I know I.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Portrayed enough fraud. I understand felony with the amount of money.
And oh and you guys are not Let me go
back to about eight seconds ago when you posted.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
We're both not out of control? What are you talking about.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
I'm here to entertain and inform America. I got people
sitting on the streeter as I sit here in the
Fox Sports Radio studios, you know, with an empty chair
of my left. I mean, there's wall to wall traffic
out of here. All these people are listening and being
entertained by what I'm bringing down on you.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
What's that supposed to me? And I'm coming in tomorrow?
You coming in tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (11:43):
No, I'm been here three days, but you're not coming
in the door to come in at all.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
But when you're coming, you're not coming in tomorrow. That though,
That's okay, What does it matter? What does it matter?
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Maybe I just don't want to see you because you're
out of control. Maybe that's what it is.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Maybe you just need a hug.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
What are you taking roll? What is this that? What
is this school?
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Your side has absent.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
I'm sending that yellow Delaney card home so you could
see that you've been absent.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
I think liable and fair treatment. I think all I'm
looking for.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
I think my attendance record for the show has been
I think I've shown up and prepared and done pretty
good shows as we I don't think you've walked into
the studio.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
It's own. Jason's not.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
He's just not coming in tonight. I'm decided not to
come in. I just I think I've been on the
every night with you. I think I've been talking about
you're out of control.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
There's just a little more effort, that's all.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
You're really really, really you want to talk about effort,
mister white Sox, you want to talk about effort?
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Really you want to talk about effort? Effort?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Hey get hurt.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Twitter and out about a freshct my fault like you're
paying guys and stink here's your GM right there.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Well, they paid all the young guys on potential what
does that catch you. I'm about to actually prove it
before you decide to extend him with massive deals.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike har weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
When you're talking about Hey, if I tell you something
about sports, and I tell you how Max Scherzer is
a cheat, absolute legend and he didn't cheat and everything, okay,
But if I if I scream at.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Mac charge, there's a legend he didn't cheat.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
I'm not changing anything I'm saying. I'm just yelling at you.
Oh boy, it woth be really good. Now, there's sometimes
where are you yelling? And it's but it's about.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Being genuine in who you are.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
And there's time really excited about stuff, which is most
of the time because that's kind of who I am.
And but there's time when we talk about stuff when
it's important to have a rational comment. Not everything needs
to be screamed. The same thing for stand up comedians
that what they say might not be funny, and I
give you the exact same punchline, but I put the
F word in there, and then I say the F
word again.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
More people are gonna laugh.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Well, you got to know your audience.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Will left because because of that doesn't make what you're
saying any funnier. It just means you threw the F
word in.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
But if you got then it was funnier because sometimes
you go to the lower common denominator and that's when
you start screaming, because.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Clearly you care.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
When you're yelling, your argument holds so much more weight
when you have a blue check mark, and when you're yelling,
don't you know these things? Don't you what I've been
told all day?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
I don't know what we're yelling about. Uh, But that
that's the difference.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
And I'm glad you brought up Twitter because everybody's very
upset about this and dope what happened today?
Speaker 4 (14:22):
All noises, we'll get.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
High high pressure fronts, high pressure fronts press.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
You know the one thing about Twitter today before you
get into a big story out of the NFL, the
one thing about Twitter today that I really do enjoy
because again, I don't care about Twitter for the micro.
For me, I care about the macro and it's it's
outcoming now, it's it's going to be done as a
news site because oh, people get to imperson other people
and people who need check marks can't get their message across.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
And richersonating Frank calliendo.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Okay that was the seventies. Okay, that was when they
were four. There were three channels on TV and one
nobody watched.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
What do you get?
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Well, I get I get CBS, NBC, ABC and Channel thirteen. Hey,
I get Masterpiece Theater.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
All Callio picked up checks from Fox for a long
time and then back in the studio was that's not funny,
Frank from Terry Bradshaw for years.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
But you know what I dig this is this is
my favorite part about Twitter today is I know people
in the business who I really don't care for, but
I know how much they love social media, and they
care about Twitter and social media more than they care
about their friends and families. Like they spend all kinds
of money to be able to buy followers and have
(15:34):
social media companies do things, and all they care about
is being beholden to people on social media and that's
their whole life. I spend all kinds I've spent all
my free time on social media and on Twitter, and
it's gonna cost me relationships with people I know, believe
I've worked with people and I'm like, dude, you really
wanted to be beholden to some idiot who DMed you
and and and you want to call me out for
(15:56):
something like really?
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I had that happen like a couple of times.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
I'm like, you more about somebody that you're tweeting with
that you have no idea who they are than someone
you work with.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
But that happen right again?
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Part of my lessons from NFL network where I will
never never underestimate anybody I work.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Who is it that ever? Again?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
But but people like that, I know so many people
who even who now I like talk to?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I go, I not not talk to, but I see it.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
I go, why do you care so much? Social media
is such it's it's their lifeblood. It's like everything to them.
And now they're going absolutely crazy today because.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Why don't we read stuff and that'll tell us what
we need to do?
Speaker 3 (16:31):
What do I do? I spend all my stuff? And
da da du so? I said, stop, So what are
you talking about?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Man?
Speaker 1 (16:38):
What do you what do you talk? But people go crazy?
What am I doing? What do I do on Twitter?
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Now?
Speaker 3 (16:43):
What do I do? I do?
Speaker 5 (16:44):
I do?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
I keep my check mark, do I not do? I go.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
I spend all this capital and all this money and
all this time and all this energy on social media
and now just got taken away. So I gotta say
I'm kind of digging that. I'm kind of digging seeing
those people just have to squirm all day wondering, oh
is it the for me?
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Because I'm gonna lose my check mark and what does
this mean for me? At social media? I gotta say
I dig that the only.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Thing that really defined who you were as a presenter,
because we'll go global, bring in the presenters from our
good folks in Europe or an analyst or whatever that
were talent that we throw around so liberally and all
this stuff. And if that because someone at your network
(17:27):
or station that had clout and a connection set, hey,
can you just verify all these accounts for me? They
all work for us, and you would that is what
you're hitching your life to. Come on, man, people did
on Saturday Night Live, Get a Life. I came you
back to shatter.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Have you ever kissed a girl? No?
Speaker 1 (17:47):
I bet you that was That was of course the
evil Kirk My impression from episode fourteen of season three.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Nicely done but legitimately, if you're that tied to that
level of identity, I go back to the premise that
we talked about a little bit last hour. For me,
it was okay, verifies who they are, not what they are, right, Okay, Yeah,
that I can say that schefter, that's Glazer Sham's before
you let us down the other day, and you know
(18:14):
all the other insiders who I mean, look, they're not perfect,
they're human, and they get bad information, bad source, you know,
promise for a new day, all of those kind of
things that happening and go through. So we're always wary
of what's coming through, and you wait for for more sources.
And if that means we got to work a little
harder like newspeople and put a little bit of lower
(18:36):
case and maybe is there a mid middle case jay
on the journalism because we're still in sports talk radio
because big J don't matter here. But it's just the
idea that if you're that wrapped up in your identity
of a check mark being on your Twitter account, it's
it's maybe time to take a vacation. Go go find
some clue. There's some cleansing waters in Lake Minnetonka. Something
(18:58):
that's gonna make you feel better about your life and reset.
Look in the mirror. You're good enough, you're smart enough,
and gosh darn it, people like you. You're no better
than anybody else, You no smarter than anybody else. Eighty
eight bucks if it matters that.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Oh I care so much, I care so much. Oh
my god.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from the
ti iraq dot com studios. Again, more social media fun
on the way, but an NFL story that everybody just.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Needs to relax on.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
R E l a X All of a sudden, Tiki
Barber goes on the radio in New York today and says,
you know, I'm hearing that Aaron Rodgers are the forty
nine ers. Could happen if the Jets keep dragging their
heels and yet another day where it looks like, oh
nightmare scenario for Jets. Niners could get in on Aaron Rodgers.
One guy says something on the radio. But because it's
(19:50):
been such a.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Slow news last couple of weeks with Aaron Rodgers, oh we're.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
Dying to talk about Aaron blue check mark.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Let's let's treat this like this was like this is
it like the Jets could lose Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Everybody just relax, Well they could, Okay, it's not. Everybody
be cool. We just got everybody's gotta be. If you
think this is how, just just act like be a little.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Fonsie Phonsie is cool. This is the end. It's getting close.
I get it.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
And this is when every This is why when you're
in the big business and you're in the big chair
and you make decisions. This is why these people make
those because they're not frantically shaking when.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Oh my god, it's all falling apart.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Now, everybody be cool. The end of a situation like
this is when you have to be the coolest and
everything is fine.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Hey, reference the Big Chair.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
It's it's there, the Big Chair.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
You know, that's the album that everybody wants to rule
the world game that songs from.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
The Big Chair.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Right, but everybody, Oh, now here comes The Jets are
gonna blow it because they're the Jets. Everything is fine,
they have all the way up until the draft. They'll
get it done. I want the Jets don't want to
give up any more than they have to. When the
Packers want more than they're gonna get it's going to happen.
They'll figure it out, and it's gonna be done. Whether
(21:13):
the Jets and Packers swap first round picks on next
Thursday and then they get a third round pick or
something else happens, it will get done. The Jets aren't
walking out of this without Aaron Rodgers happening going to
happen now, because I keep telling you it's gonna happen,
and you guys keep telling me, But what, Okay, I.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Will tell you this.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
When will I be nervous about Aaron Rodgers not getting
becoming a Jet.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Next Thursday, studio.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
If we get past the second day of the draft,
it's the second if we yeah, because it's gonna be
about second round happen, because it could happen, but it's
really gonna be about second round picks and potentially a
first round pick another whatever it is. If we get
past the second night of the draft and the Packers
(22:01):
didn't get any picks from the Jets or the Jets
haven't moved up, that's when I'll be nervous.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
You want to talk what I'll be nervous.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
That's when I'll be If we get past the second
day of the draft, and nothing is done between the
Jets and the forty nine ers, or the Jets of
the Packers, that'll be a three way trade. If nothing,
that's when I'll be nervous. You get pat day two
of the draft. Okay, well this one. I don't want
the forty nine ers involved at all, man, I don't
want them.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Who are you? What are you doing in here? Get
out of here?
Speaker 1 (22:30):
The forty nine ers Rogers. Uh, that's when I'll be nervous.
And you want to hear after day two of the draft,
That's when I'll be nervous. It'll be okay, buddy, I
told I keep telling you what's gonna be okay.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
I'm just trying to tell you one way or another.
And when the Jets don't get him, it'll still be okay. Listen,
I'll give you guys a treat because you don't deserve it.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
But I keep giving you guys treats every single night.
And I'll tell you this. If it doesn't, it's gonna happen.
But let's just say in some kind of alternate Earth
world it doesn't happen. Right, Let's say we get through.
I guarantee you the jets backup plan is going to
be Ryan Tannehill.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Guarantee.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
I guarantee that they will pivot to Ryan Tannehill quickly.
If they're not gonna get Aaron Rodgers, they won't give
up a lot for him, They'll keep their picks. They
will pivot to Ryan Tannehill. He's he's there, he's there.
We got him in our pocket. Now, if he gets
dealt and the Jets lose their the you know, safety net,
(23:33):
then I'd be Look, but he's the guy that I
guarantee you that's the Jets. Uh safety net is Ryan Town.
We can't get him, we'll go get Ryan Town.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Yeah, he has shown the ability to do the two
step and hand the ball to a workhorse running bag.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Yeah, that's all I got to do it. So I
got to hear right here, here you go, Here.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
You go and tell talent that his guy's not showing up.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
But I think I think that's what happens is if
we don't get Aaron Rodgers, everybody Aaron Rodgers, one of
the Jets to get becomes a free agent.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Well, but we got we weekn movie got them all
in contract, so they at least get some money. Good
for him. Good strategy. He's that you can go get
Trey Lance.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Oh, yoh, he'll be He'll be on the table too, Lance,
be on table, Lamar Jackson on the town.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
It's all on the table.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
I've been telling you all. I would have pivoted towards
Lamar Jackson weeks ago. I would have gone away from
this charade and just said, to hell with it. We're
going all in and we're bringing in Lamar.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
See. That's what you gotta be, cool man, you gotta
be cool.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
You're squirming cool.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
I'm not swarm.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
I am.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
I'm very cool. I got the fan on up ahead
of me. I am cool, right, I am ceol man.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
It's good sweating.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
It was actually in the eighties in the valley today,
so you might have actually sweat a little bit.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Talk to me eight days from today, and then I'll
tell you. If I'm not cool, you're.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Gonna be a wreck all week up.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Oh, I can't wait. Next to will be on. The
lights will be bright, you'll be suiting.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
It's another whole, It's another whole eight days of Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Eve Man. I'm enjoying it. It's great.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
What have we been getting as presence.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
It's like an advent calendar. I keep opening something new
every day. You get a pretty.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Like fast food sandwich each day. Oh well, he's chocolate. No, no, no,
another pine of ice cream? Like what's behind the door.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
None of the none of those things have anything to
do with Aaron Rodgers day. I just have those every day.
Oh it's a sick Is this for Aaron Rodgers having
the sandwich?
Speaker 4 (25:23):
No, it's because I'm known as how I was trying
to keep that the long the long play for you,
since Aaron Rodgers day may never go.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
What is this? This is my Monday sandwich?
Speaker 1 (25:32):
What's that? That's my Tuesday sandwich. That's my Tuesday night.
It's my Tuesday night sandwich. Oh all right, you're.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Gonna be eating a knuckle sandwich when he never comes.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
It's happening.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
It's Joe Douglas sitting in front of a bunch of
drunken jets. Fis it's happening. Oh, you wanted to make sure.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
I gave you jerks a treat you didn't deserve it.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
I gave it to you anyway, So I told you, now,
just back off, now, just I gave you didn't deserve it.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
I gave it you back off.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
You call us jerks, I kind of take us away
all the pleasantries.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
No, it doesn't you.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
No, I say it with all kinds of I just
say it all kinds of fun and love you, jerk.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
It's very that one I felt, Yeah, jerk. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
So, now let's get to Tom Brady A right, Uh,
if we have that Brady audio, let's let's cue it up. Brady,
who has been given every single chance to remind everybody
he's retired, to tell everybody, look, I'm not playing anymore.
I don't know what you're talking about. I mean, I'm done.
(26:46):
Can you see all this time he has been given
the chance to say I'm done, I'm done, I'm done,
and then he doesn't do it?
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Right? What did I tell you?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Does do guy really retire on a beach at six
o'clock in the morning. I'm taping a video and putting
it out there.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Come on, man.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Brady today spoke at the Emerge America's Global Technology Conference
in Miami. Trust me, it's a real thing. It sounds
made up, and it's a real thing. The Emerge America's
Global Technology Conference. Now, why is he speaking at a
globe Maybe just so we could say this. He gets
asked about the potential of coming out of retirement to
play for the Miami Dolphins. And remember, Brady's been linked
(27:25):
to the Dolphins in the past, and he was gonna
be the part, gonna be the quarterback and owner a
couple of years ago, but that didn't work.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
But now now Brady retired, he came back, he retired again.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Now he's done that old Dolphins saying, yeah, that's all
part of the past. Except when Brady was giving the
chance to say, hey, it would be great, but I'm retired,
I'm done playing. I'm not picking up a football anymore.
Here was Tom Brady's answer to hey, would you come
out of retirement to play for Miami?
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Spending a lot of time in Miami now you call
it home. My chances are a chance that you're coming
out of retirement.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
And playing for the Fish.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I know I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Well, I will say now that I'm not affiliated.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
With any team anymore. And even though I have strong
ties with a.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Couple of teams.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
I do have some friends on the Dolphins that I
really like, so I wouldn't say I say the root
for them all the time.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
But I root for my friends to do well, and
several of them play for Miami. So he's been Urrea's
my favorite movie.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
So wait, where was the no, I'm not playing for
the Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I'm retired. Would you come out of retirement to play
for the Dolphins? It's a pretty cut and dried question. Yes, No,
Instead you get well, I have friends on the Dolphins,
and you know I don't, but I got friends there. Dude,
that's not the question, can you He can't even say
he's retired. He can't even say he's done. And for
(28:54):
someone like Brady, this is not about Oh, I keep
wanting to do the dance because the guy's gonna be relevant, right,
whatever he does, he's relevant.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
He's become a celebrity.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
He's not someone that I need to keep people guessing
because they'll still be interested in my career.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Right. He's not one of He's not one of those people.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
He's someone that, hey, he's always supposed to be doing
games for Fox, But I'm not gonna do it for
a year.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Why are you pushing it for You're really gonna study
for you.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
You're gonna study Tony Romo for a year on how
to broadcast right, Tom Brady's gonna jump into the booth
at Fox and go Kevin Kevin, Kevin Hey, Kevin keV
Kevin Kevin Hey, Kevin Hey, Kevin keV Kevin, Kevin Kevin.
All he had to do was say no, but he won't.
Brady is still has that door open to playing, but
it's very specific. It's very specific. It's very specific. He
(29:39):
knows that he can't go to a team that, well,
maybe they're gonna be good, and they could be. I'm
gonna keep it going. Brady knows at this point, I
have to do what I did when I went to
Tampa the first time. I have to be surrounded by
elite level talent, Godwin and you know you're talking about
three years ago going to Godwin and Evans and a
couple of good running backs and bringing Gronkowski with him
(30:00):
in a good offensive line that keeps him up right.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
That's the team he has to go to. And there's
no surprise.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
The two teams he's been linked to the most have
been the forty nine ers and the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
It's Miami or San Francisco or bust for Tom Brady.
If one of those teams wants him, he will go
play for them. If not, he's done. He's not gonna say, well,
maybe I'll go play for the Titans. No, he's not
gonna go play for the Titans. That's not gonna happen. Oh,
they need a quarterback in Washington. No, he's gonna go
play where I can play one season and I can
win the Super Bowl. And at this point in my career,
(30:33):
I'm not someone that's gonna make everybody better, but I
will be able to make enough plays and we can
win the Super Bowl. And those teams are loaded, all right.
San Francisco was loaded absolutely everywhere, and they have an injury,
as y'all brock perty we may trade Trey Lance. Miami
absolutely loaded on offense. He's just throwing the ball up
in the air and Tyreek Kill is gonna catch it. Defense, okay,
(30:56):
a little bit going on, you know, not as great
clearly as the San Francis forty nine ers, but that's
a team that can make a lot of noise man,
and you can win a lot of games, and you
know we want to stick it to Belichick at least
a couple of times a year.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
So, yeah, those are the teams.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
If they call, if the opportunity presents itself, he will
go play. But it's gotta be the team's reaching out
to him. He can drop the crumbs, but he's not
gonna be desperate. Don Yee is not gonna start making
phone calls every couple weeks going. So you guys feeling
about your quarterback situation here, it's gonna be where they
reach out, Brady makes a decision and then he comes
(31:32):
back to play, and if they don't reach out, he
won't play.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
It's that simple. But if I come back, I can.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Do it in a very specific set of circumstances, and
with either of these two teams, I can. And before
you think it won't happen, if the Niners move on
from Trey Lance and Brock Party, maybe out way way
something happens, because it looks like Perty's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Ready for the beginning of the year.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
But if something happens, yeah, that could go on to
a tongue of Iiloa. You can't plan on having him
for the rest of his career. The way he's prone
to cancussions. The next one could be idio or he
talked about retiring the other day. I thought about it
in the offseason, but now ready to go back and play.
But while all quarterbacks can say they're one play away
to what really is one play away another concussion? Who
(32:13):
knows if he's gonna play? So yeah, could that happen?
And they call Brady and Brady comes out to play
one more time? One hundred and fifty percent, he still
hasn't closed the door. He still wants to keep playing.
He's doing it this crazy ass where I'm retiring fast
and I'm gonna unretire if I need to. But I'm retired,
so it looks like I've made my decision. It's insane.
(32:33):
He's doing things really crazy. But make no mistake. You
look at how he's acting, how he's talking. The guy's
not retired. He still has one foot on the playing
field at a time when it's okay to have one
foot on the playing field. Because you're not at a
time where you're doing a lot of great stuff. You're
not working out a ton Aaron Rodgers worked out with
Alan Lazard and he's buying crystals in Los Angeles the
last couple of weeks. No, now is the time to
(32:53):
have that one foot in, one foot out. If either
of those teams call he goes in places.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Well, you know he's still staying in shape. I have
no doubt still throwing a little bit. I know there
was the reenactment of your favorite Maverick scene, you know,
the little beach football going on, photo shoots and all
that fun stuff. But it's the idea of you, if
you don't have to shut the door, why do you
shut the door? Right? If you still love playing? And
(33:18):
we've talked a nauseum about the familial situation and everything
going on there, and Giselle's certainly spoken on at a
bunch that there's still some unfinished business perhaps on the
football side of things. The Sean Connery never say never
again because in the NFL, even a diminished Tom Brady
(33:40):
and you could say, all right, this was slowing down
or this wasn't as efficient as the past, although there
were a lot of reason slash excuses depending on how
negative you want to be towards Tom Brady. In terms
of the Tampa Bay offense last year offensive line, a
lot of injuries, attrition, and zero anuity running back position.
(34:02):
Rashad White looks like he might be a guy long term,
wasn't able to be the guy, and they tried to
force feed some old legs carries that didn't work. So
all of that got thrown to hell. And then you're
outside receivers some injury issues as well. So we can
go down the process and look across the NFL, and
(34:22):
still where do you put him? He's still upper tier, right,
He's still you know, above the fold as it were,
if you're going old newspaper style and ranking quarterbacks, because
we can do that. Where was top Brady right today?
If he came out? But the forty nine ers used
to say, Trey Lance can't stay healthy, make it shipped
out of town. Sam Darnold nice project a couple of
(34:43):
years in the league, showed a little bit towards the
end of last year with the right personnel around him, right, coaching,
better personnel all around that perhaps you can find some
more glimpses of the guy that once upon a time
everybody was fired up about. And then the curiosity of
brock Purty coming back off the injury. But the luxury
(35:05):
in today's NFL, you'd love that multiple No, that's right,
whenever you can get the Paul Hayman playoff brack party
because you know, Lesseners getting another run in the WWE,
so we get to talk about brocks all over the place.
But it's the idea that you need a crowded room
and there they've been snake bitten with injuries. So yeah,
(35:25):
you'd love an extra guy and he'd go home, and
all of that stuff. The stories right themselves. With Miami,
you mentioned the key with Tua, a story that given
everything going on and Draymond Green and continued Aaron Rodgers watch.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Woh woah wah wah wah all of that stuff wo
wo wo wow wow wow wah.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Yeah, you add all that stuff up that the toua. Hey,
you know what, I almost retired this offseason story didn't
get nearly as much trash it as maybe it should have.
That you know that that's under consideration. And once that
starts getting into your mind, and you can say that
with Brady, you can say that with Rogers and others,
you start wondering, all right, do we have to hedge
our bets? And you've got hell Tyreek Hill's already talking
(36:07):
about walking away after his deal's done in twenty five,
so why not pair him up with Brady for a
couple of years. See how it all works together.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
H'ah beautiful, Trust me, man, those two teams call, he
comes out and plays, and it would have to be
a where we're calling you to come out, and it's
it's a it's a very simple and clean thing where
we find out we're not gonna have Brock Purty and
he's gonna be out, So yes, come here and be
our quarterback this year, and Brock Purdy's gonna sit behind you.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Or to uh you know, is hurt he can't play and.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
You're gonna Maybe that could be sometime during the season
or during the preseason, but that's when it would be.
It would not be.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
It should not be anywhere else onny other.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
Team, Jason, how great would this be? They go, he
goes to Miami, they win the Super Bowl eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox? Is Brady a better dolphin
all time than Dan Marino? Let's go, oh, I can't.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
Wait for him? The f spike it on the Jets.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Listen, don't even put that out there that he's gonna
go play. I mean, I I feel bad enough saying that,
but I have to say what the truth is.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Don't put it out there.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
And Aaron Rodgers is playing in San Francisco. Don't wow,
look at that.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Don't put it out there that he's gonna go there
and win the Super Bowl. Don't. Don't do that.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
It happen.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Don't do that to me, Actually will happen. Don't do that.
Don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Right now, I think they're better than the Jets getting
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
They just went way up. That's what happened. They just
went all the way up. Uh So they got forty
nine Ers Dolphins, they call, he's gone.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
He is playing
