(00:20):
This is the best of the Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
hap Me NFL Draft Night Jasmith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon, Well dressed Hobo live from the ti
iraq dot com studios, where we saw a lot of craziness.
(00:44):
We saw a lot of guys falling. Great draft show,
Rob Stone, LeVar Arrington, Steve Kahim, our own Jay Glazer
taking you through the last four hours here and thirty
one not thirty two picks before we get ready for
round two. There's a lot of great stuff to break
down with Round one. Tons of stuff, tons of drama
(01:05):
obviously the Mets one tonight, tons of stuff to break
down with the drama. Aaron Rodgers practice with the Jets,
but really right now, it is about who is still
left on the board at this point where the entire
football world is wondering, Wait a minute. I was promised
Will Levis was going second overall.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I was told, remember after his Reddit thing, and I
was rumors that he was going number one.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
He got down to four to one. No to self,
don't believe Reddit all. Let me cross that off. Right there,
Will Levis, quarterback out of Kentucky, who was initially going
to be one of the top four five picks overall
in the draft, maybe as high as the second quarterback
taken overall, still on the board. As we get into
round two of the NFL Draft, ESPN had the stat
(01:51):
on there of their broadcast and they showed him in
the green room at round pick twenty nine, looking like
he's got that thousand yards stare of I can't believe
I'm still standing here. His girlfriend's on there on her
phone going, hey, look at this, Hey, look at this. Hey.
He's like, I'm just still in the greenroom. I can't
believe it. There was a point one nine point a
point one percent chance he would still be on the
(02:14):
board at that pick, which I believe is at the
time thirty and now it's going to be thirty two
and he is still there waiting to go in the draft.
And that that is a stunning development and a stunning
fall for a guy that we didn't hear about fault. Usually,
when when guys fall, you know it, you know, going, okay, well,
if this guy gets past this team, no one's gonna
take him, right, we know that, okay, But there was
(02:36):
no talk about There was talk about CJ. Stroud falling.
There was talking about Anthony Richardson, Well, is he gonna
go as high? Maybe he goes around number ten. There
was no talk of Will Levis at all fall. It
was look at this guy's the next Josh Allen, the
big arm. He could go number two, number and suddenly
now here he is still on the board as we
get into the second round. Something doesn't add up.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Well, there's rumors that this toe injury, that he had
missed some time to it, that suddenly that became a
major area of concern that he might require surgery. So
I've seen that floating around obviously all the bow Callahan runs,
but watching it in terms of mock drafts a little
bit over the last couple of weeks because what else
do you do during mock draft season. But see what
(03:14):
the next iteration is, you know, seven point oh fourteen
point oh, fourteen point one. And he was a guy
that started to become that consensus top five. And then
a little bit of drifting in a couple of things,
and that one I could participated in. I was telling
you about the Jacksonville beat riders come through. He didn't
go until the middle of the round. There didn't fall
(03:35):
the way out, but certainly not the top five that
I think a lot of people anticipated that once the
first couple because this was a draft of runs, because
that's the other part of it. This played out like
your normal fantasy draft does, where people are drinking and
are half paying attention. It's like, oh, no, other wide
receiver went, and I should get one of those.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Seattle just took a wide receiver quick.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Everybody else wait, wait, wait, wait, because you had a
quarterbacks right, the trades and everything else going on, and
away you go. But whether that toe injury is the
thing that did it or you just had you know,
Atlanta right, that was another destination where people thought.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
We talked about it with JA. No, you really don't know.
I really do.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
So I was one of the guys that I got
to the right squad. So I'm proud of myself there.
But for will Levis, now does does he end up
getting to a better team because of it a better situation?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (04:28):
But certainly one of those uncomfortable watches over the course
of the night.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Now here's the good news for will Levis, Right, who
is now anybody is talking about? Because he's still out there.
The first four picks, the first three picks of the
second round go like this. The Steelers pick, then it's
the Cardinals, then it's the Lions. If I was any
of those three teams, I would take will Levis. This
is a guy who had a really high draft grade
(04:53):
on them in the first round. These are all teams
that could use him to be their future. And if
his toe injury is bothered him, if something happens, he
can still sit. Because you can still if you're Pittsburgh
in theory, say well, Kenny Pickett, we want to give
him a chance, even though Kenny Pickett stinks and he's
no good And I can see the giant fandelers, Kenny Pittt,
(05:14):
Sorry's dealers, Kenny Pickett, Kenny Pickett is not good, but
you could. You could take Levis there and he could
easily assume the job. Same thing in Arizona. He could
assume the starting job week one, depending on when Kyler
Murray comes back alone. How dare you look? And for
the Lions? I get you like Jared Goff, but really
do you like Jared Goffer? Would you like Will Levis? Hey?
(05:34):
You can and he can wait and sit, and he
can sit and wait. You're talking about a quarterback in
the second round. Who if he's great, think about this.
You're not paying him anything for the first three years. Yes,
if he's great, you're redoing his contract. You talk about
having a guy saying, hey, we don't have to worry
about a quarterback deal. This is a second round pick
now for a guy who had a high first round
grade on him. If you're any of these three teams,
(05:56):
you go get Will Levis right away. I guarantee you
somebody moves up or he's off the board within the
first picks, the first three picks of the second round.
Even I would say, then if the he gets by
the Colts, you got the Rams sitting there at five.
Rams will take them. There's your big pit right there.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Well, you look at where we sit Steelers, Cardinals, Lions, Colts, Rams,
and so the rams make sense start drifting a bit more.
What I was looking at was Detroit right like at eighteen,
thinking maybe, and then they went linebacker, So I was like, okay,
(06:32):
now the slide really yeah shurts, Yeah, because you're not
trying a lot of these other teams, Like, there's so
many other needs that you're going through in depth at
those positions started to thin out again the runs that
they came through. But I would suspect his way tomorrow
ain't gonna be very long. And I can't imagine it's
(06:55):
going to be very long that you know, at worst
it's the Rams because you have the back acheotomy of
Stafford that he's coming back from. Yeah, those gifts for you, well,
and you come to market again sooner, right, because you
don't have that fifth year.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, and hen and Hendon Hooker also a gift. Hey,
oh this guy in a first round.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Another the last week, his stock seemed to rise a
bunch to where I'd started seeing him popping into top
fifteens for some folks. M and instead, well, now opportunity knocks,
uh for teams much later.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Because you're looking at after the Seahawks pick the next
pick of the so the sixth pick of the second round,
Gino Smith or do you want Will Levis or do
you want somebody else? The Raiders then pick You could
take a quarterback there too. Then you get into a
situation where you have Carolina coming back. They have their guy.
But then the Saints and the time, so Levice will
come off the board really high in the second round. Again,
(07:52):
if I was any of those first three teams, I
take him. Somebody's going to and you when when? Because
now he's a bargain. Now you're talking about a quarterback
that could be a bargain. So forget about the fact
he's a really good guy that slipped. Now you think
about the contract because it's well, we want to get
to a super Bowl while our quarterback is on his
first contract. Right, look at look at the Eagles and
Jalen Hurts. Now Eagles are gonna have a more difficult time.
(08:13):
They got to the super Bowl, Jalen Hurts on his
rookie deal, on a second round deal. Now they paid him.
Now it gets more difficult because you can't keep your
guys same thing is happening right now, teams will run up.
I feel awful for Levice because he was there and
they kept going him and showing him in the green
room and all of this, and it's like, uh, come on, man,
really so yeah, but still, you invite a guy, then
you embarrass him. I mean, it's not you're embarrassing him.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
It's not what you're showing camera show right, but you're
just showing what the reality is. But to ignore it. Yeah,
but they're gonna talk about it. So if you're gonna
talk about the fact, Hey, Will Levis is still our
best available, because how do they kill time? It's always
the graphic of here's these six guys legged by Will Levis.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
And still, but if you're showing the guy, if you're
show him looking like Frank the Tank walking away from
the Devil's Game the other night with his head down
playing Chris show it stuck showdow of him smiling playing
a game from his knees that was supposed to make
him a top five having having agree like playing dominoes
(09:12):
or something, or just partying and to hey, having fun
or playing darts or whatever, I mean.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Just accuracy competitions to where he's throwing at the bottles
like that.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I am sure he missed wide. Yeah, that's why he's slipping.
They've been watching Beer Pond with water, you know, because
you know it's it's it's a it's a family show.
But I mean, did you have a bunch of beer
sponsors in the commercials? You have that and in the end,
but show that, show me that, don't I mean, don't
show me Hi with the I don't know what's happening.
I really. That's the point, is the gravity of this situation,
(09:46):
the weight of the world, and how important this is
for the NFL, for Levis, for the talent evaluators. This
is we made for great drama. Hey, you know you
know where we picked you? Why because we like the
way you handled the green room. You know what, Nobody
picked you those first thirty two.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Pers He didn't walk out like Boa Gallaghan, man like Chris.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Remember when you sat in the green room all the
way through the first round many that was that was cool.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Hey, his agent didn't have to go outside and tell
him to come back in. Hey, people are seeing this.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
He was there. He's a big boy.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't go back to that
Yannis speech, right now, sure can't fail.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
You're still gonna get an opportunity, I'm tellings. And the
bucks failed, but he he should be off the board
very very quickly. Tomorrow, bad day, good day, tomorrow. And
still he's going to be somebody's future because he should be,
because he's got he's got that kind of prospect. And
now he's a bargain. Now it's even more. It's almost
like if you want to buy a house, right, and
there's a really great house and you think it's awesome,
(10:44):
and you go look at it and it's still a
great house, but you know, you know this this room
needs to be redone, the garage needs to be redone.
You know this is not as convenient all this room
looked like it was a little bit better off. It's
still a great house, but maybe you don't want it,
so you go look at other houses. You probably have
to put more money into it or tear into it immediate,
(11:06):
and we say maybe not. But then two weeks later,
when the house is still on the market and the
price is dropped to price drop, right, Finn, price drop,
You're like, oh, suddenly now that house becomes better because oh,
they dropped the price by one hundred grand. So if
I have to put one hundred grand in, well, all right,
that's fine. Now now I'm looking at is not just
(11:26):
a thing I really like? Now it's a bargain.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
So loose in southern California. No, But for Will Levis,
the opportunity will come soon enough. And when we watched
the draft, I mean, how many guys did you have
that you thought, all right, they're gonna go in the
first round. There's like ten guys. Michael Michael Mayer didn't
go in the first round. You guys that most monitor here,
(11:49):
Michael run for him. But the idea that you've got
at least those two guys that were supposed to be
top half of the first round and they're still sitting there.
It's just you get into these runs. You get into
all right, what's the position scarcity? What's our true level
of need? Was that a luxury pick? And then suddenly
you're in the second round? Twitter at how about a fresco?
(12:09):
Mike gets swollen dome The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Carbon's we break down Night one of the NFL Draft
coming up in ninety seconds.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
What about the other quarterbacks who got chosen. Are there
anyone's anti picks that we didn't like? Or did we
like all of them? The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harmon live from the ti iraq dot Com studios, as
we break down Night one of the NFL Draft. So
there's Will Levis waiting, waiting, waiting. What about the other quarterbacks? Right?
(12:37):
Number one overall, Bryce Young goes to Carolina CJ. Stroud,
Number two to Houston, Anthony Richardson, number four to Indianapolis.
I love, don't love love, don't love love, don't love love,
don't love love all of these picks, all of them.
I love you knew. I love Bryce Young, And I
was just waiting for sanity to set in with Carolina
(12:59):
that what does it matter his size? You're gonna protect her, worry,
but he can take a hit in the NFL. I'm sorry,
you're not gonna put an offensive line in front of him?
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Is he gonna play like the three guys like you're
playing street That is your center is also your wide receiver.
There is no protection. One thousand, Here we go. You
counted to You counted too fast. You have to say
in one thousand every syllable of missus city I did
one Misissippi two, Misissippi three, Misissippi four because that's how.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I would do it. Five. But you gotta do it
slower than the hell is, Miss Hippy. You're gonna you're
gonna put guys around. Oh suddenly, now we're not gonna
protect him, but every other quarterback you're gonna get protected.
This guy generational talent with what he can do with
the football these he is every generational he is of
all the quarterbacks, he is that good. He is like
(13:47):
Patrick Mahomes, but a guy who's a little bit smaller.
And I guarantee you when we look back at this
draft in five years, we're gonna go, wow, boy. I
can't believe there was any question that Bryce Young was
gonna be the number one overall. Picking this draft excited
that it played to form.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
That was the one that if you were playing along
at home and you filled out the mock drafts, that
was the I wrote my name correctly on my test teacher. Yeah, no,
DJ mooores at Chicago's DJ Shark is there. So you're
looking at the talent that that flipped over there. So
the rebuild the bold strategy to totally reclaim this squad
(14:25):
and for for Bryce Young an opportunity because you know
he's he's getting a long term opportunity right the way
they're they're going to let a program be constructed, which
is what leads to number two and Stroud going right
because Houston, we always expect them to do everything wrong
(14:45):
right front office, tell.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Me what right?
Speaker 2 (14:49):
That's kind of like legitimately, and I tweeted it out
immediately right upon the trade that then nets them Anderson
at three. But it was the moment of these two
things come together, and you talk about the Will Levis moment.
If people had a camera on me in that moment,
it was like you heard angels sing because everything wait,
they did two moves correctly, they got past the noise
(15:12):
of the S two and whatever else right because we
heard that how many times on the telecasts and everything
as you're monitoring, and certainly it came up a little
bit here on Fox Sports Radio on our draft coverage.
For the brilliance of Bryce Young in that test and
for what it might mean to C. J. Straut, well
didn't matter. Houston makes the pick and takes the guy,
(15:33):
and you saw the emotion for Straut. So like those
first two picks. You're just giddy. I mean, yeah, it
was a little odd, you know, for everybody out there
that might have had a parlay on one and.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Two and how it was gonna go down. But I
don't know if they were gonna interrupt with more chiefs
on the stage going, Hey, we won the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
It's in your town and you have the title. You
celebrate the hell out of it. If somewhat from Kansas
City was the current holder of the twenty four to
seven champion in the WWE.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Right now about to announce the pick. No, look, I
love Stroud and I love the guts that they had
to take him, because you you had heard a lot
about maybe they could tank Caleb Williams better prospect than
anybody this year, and that's what they were gonna do.
When you draft to you get a quarterback, you don't
have no idea how it's gonna go. You tried to
take this year, and look what happened. Lovey Smith screwed
you from getting Bryce Young. Hey, we're gonna wain and
(16:25):
then I'm gonna get fired and I'll see you later.
The lovees. What did Jake Lazer tell us last night?
They're calling it the Lovey Smith draft, right, he called it,
and he said, I talked to Lovey He said, are
you gonna watch the draft? Lovey Smith said no, Lovey
Smith not watching the love Smith draft. But I love
they did that. Look. CJ. Stroud has Cam Newton like potential,
except he's gonna be a little bit better passer and
(16:46):
probably not quite as good a runner. Running is is
much more instinctual, and Stroud is a pass first quarterback,
so he's he already throws the ball better. He'll be
a better thrower, but being you know, when you have
that weapon, you gotta be able to know, hey, this
is what I need to make some plays on my leg.
So he has that that kind of potential, and I'm
glad they went with him. I don't care about the
I don't care what he got on a test, what
(17:06):
he got on this he got You can sit here
and say, oh, well, you know, there's plenty of quid.
Look at this quarterback. We didn't do well on this test.
Look at how many guys did great on tests, and
they all stink all right, So don't worry about that.
What did the guys show you on tape? On the field,
he was really good when the chips were down, and
it's like, you need a big game in a big situation.
He had a big game in a big situation in
the in the playoff game. So yeah, I love that
(17:29):
they had guts. He was a guy to go get that.
He has Cam Newton like potential.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
That's the fun part of where that pick comes down
is you didn't expect him to do the right thing,
even with Damiko Ryan's coming in. We watched Lovey Smith,
we watched David Culley before him, no organizational stability, going
back to Trader Bill going nuts and sending everybody out
of town. You had the whole Deshaun Watson debacle, and
(17:54):
then after that, everybody's looking around going what do we got?
JJ Watt left, he ends up in Arizona. So you
have all of this instability and reporting questions of who's
in charge of all of this. So to have what
appears to be a hard reset at the top of
this draft with CJ. Stroud coming in talk about being
(18:14):
battle tested, and folks can laugh all they want about, Uh,
the Big Ten's record in Bowl Gate, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Doesn't look at the track record of Ohio State quarterbacks
in the NFL. But the well, because that's it.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
He gets tied to all of those guys, right, just
like the Alabama quarterbacks. Now, maybe hurts makes people feel
a little bit better, like, ah, you got nothing but
Nameth and a lot of and I guess Kenny Stable
and then a lot of stuff in between.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Look how many Jets players have failed in the NFL.
Wait a minute, No, it's true though many Jets players.
You have to move, go somewhere else and maybe you
find something better. But it's the seventh anniversary of Laramie
Tunsil's famous draft night. Oh yeah, that he's gotten fat off.
He sold an NFT out of it. Did you know that?
And the donated money. I can't believe. I'm not surprised.
(19:01):
I'm not surprised at that. That's all.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
So he's a guy that and any negotiates his own deal,
and know he's the highest paid guy that we'll have
to protect. CDs draft Nico Collins, a guy they're kind
of high on. Damian Pierce had quitted himself nicely. And
you bring in Dalton Schultz, so you get the makings.
I'd be curious to see what they do with the
rest of the picks to try to round out offensively
and see what kind of other talent they can bring in.
(19:24):
But no, at least for the moment, they did what
they should have done, and they stayed on the path
with the logic, which really goes against everything they've done
the last couple of years. So congratulations, Houston, your team
is back in business.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Twitter At how about a Fresca Mike and swollen Dome

Speaker 3 (20:38):
It has to be on camera.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Camera, nobod a cupcake? Cub. Hey, Alex, it sounds like
he's working from home.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Usually does sound like you're good, Darren Rogers running, Hey,

Mike Harmon. Well dressed hobo. I'll tell you these hour
forty five minute shows kind of fly by. I kind
(21:18):
of like the a little bit of saying, hey, we're
hanging out with with Jay and Rob Stone, all the
guys doing the jellab we're gonna come out of here
at the edge. Got a big deal like that did
has except without the injury. Can we get a guy
to play trumpet? Like we're closing up? Shot? I hear
you do that? Yeah, we do. He's got nothing else
to do, right, tycher can play the trumpet for us?
He can't. I bet you he knows how to play
the trump. I play a mean trumpet.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
I wouldn't be surprised if he did. And a saxophone.
Really yeah, alto sacks really? Yes, you're not lying? No,
I wouldn't lie.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
All right, bust out your auto sacks now, let me
like I carry it. Let me hear the Why would
if I play? You play the ULTI? It's more like
you want to play for the right people. I'm on
the radio. I bring headphones with me, you know, the
smooth jazz kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
He likes when he lights the candles, right, he's gonna
have a slide over baby kind of night.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
It's true. Why would you not play? Feels so good?
Speaker 3 (22:10):
That's a great play though, Okay?
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Uh? And then he starts screaming at you like he's
in the mega little Mark. Damn it, Bobby, you.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Know what's my other favorite? Jeh, that running up that hill.
That's awesome. My favorite.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
That's trying to rule the world, which is what we're
doing the night here. You guys, why would coverage? Why
do you put the songs in his head? Thanks Mike,
I'll play next. Heks. Thanks, Jerk, Thanks jerk from our request.
Jerk right, thank you very much. I work with a
bunch of jerks. Jerk still left of me, jerks to
the right of me. I can't say Jo stuck in
the middle with it would be a he's be elizer.
(22:53):
So look, I don't know if it was the aim
of the Chiefs for the draft being in Kansas, but
I and I don't want to be that guy. But
I feel like I'm okay being that guy because it
just rubbed me the wrong way. Right, the draft starts,
all right, that's great, Kansas City. We're celebrating. You know.
Maybe they want to tell a little bit of Ted
Lasso talking about Kansas City barbecue or anything else, but instead,
(23:16):
this is how the NFL Draft has opened. All right,
Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
I want to hear you hold of the Super Bowl serpids.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
This is how we're doing. I get the distinct pleasure
of welcoming two people you might recognize, Patrick Nomes, Robs Chelsea.
Hold up, Kansas City, I think we can do a
(23:49):
little bit better than that, Tans King. No, can I
hear you out there?
Speaker 4 (24:01):
All right?
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Alright, outright? And then they brought out the Lombardi Trophy
another one. They brought one out at the end of
the first round to make the pick. Now, I want
the Chiefs to go, oh in seventeen if you hear me,
oh and seventeen. I want now, I want them to lose.
(24:22):
And I like.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
That happens, right, I like them. Now you're wishing injuries
upon stars. Now, how dare you know?
Speaker 1 (24:30):
No, I'm now I want them to lose. Now, I
want them to lose. Ag. What's happening? This is I
don't know why, but I'm like, okay, this is not
the Kansas City Chiefs present the NFL Draft and we're
celebrating the Chiefs. This is not Chiefs yearbook on ESPN
at eleven thirty nine, I get to relive the chief season. Yeah,
they won great. This is a draft, all right. The
Jets don't come out in years and would say, everybody,
(24:51):
you ready to celebrate our three and thirteen season, we're
picking number one. Let me here, you.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
No out there every year that Radio City music and
here's let's celebrate Super Bowl three.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
This is so disappointing we're again going to pick first
in the draft because you know we're not gonna get
it right. This is not the Chief's celebration parade and
NFL Draft the NFL draft. What would have been better
is a complete finals. Is that you have Roger.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Goodell or whoever, trying to get things started right before
he gets introduced, and he truly embraces his heel status
like no other at this point. When he gets booed,
he loves it. It feeds his soul. But what they
could have done was an nWo like entrance when they're
trying to do business as normal. Say you didn't think
(25:47):
we wouldn't crash the party, did you? And then you
play some kind of music maybe it is Chuck MANCIONI
and feels so good, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey
come out and hip the crowd.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Then no, no, I don't want any of that. I
don't want any of that. Like it's like this is
I just came over and it's like, hey, it's not
the NFL Draft now, it's a rally. And I'm like
that because okay, they won the Super Bowl, this every
other and the Jets haven't off yet this year. They will.
(26:22):
Then fine, he can walk out and he can dance.
Brought me the wrong way. Didn't like it, didn't like,
didn't didn't like the infomercial for the Chiefs. All right,
there's a didn't like. A couple of minutes at the beginning,
a couple of minutes at the end of the middle,
a couple of minutes at the end, everybody yelling and screaming,
and here it is again. You know, you know how
you get to do that? You win, so you pick last,
(26:44):
you know, no, you know? Yeah. I like when Goodell
comes out and they boo him and he gets mad
and he says, okay, come on, come on, let's start,
let's startle. I kind of like that. That's kind of fun.
Here they come out. Oh we're yelling and screets and
w we entrance just because you know why, you know
what entertainment vehicle I guarantee what hang on, I'll be
(27:07):
tell you this was it entertaining for the people who
were in the crowd one hundred percent. Was it entertaining
for Chiefs fans watching at home one hundred percent? But
the other ninety nine percent of NFL fans feel like me,
why would you do why would you try to sin?
Why would you put it something out there that's supposed
to be a different kind of program and just piss
(27:27):
off ninety nine percent of the fans going, why do
I gotta watches as soon as they leave the state?
Why watch down the business?
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Now?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I want them now you're more engaged. Look at what
these jerks did. I want them to lose. I want
to hear Patrick Mahomes in the next year going, we
probably probably should have done that. We lost the Jets.
Uh Rogers threw a lot of touchdowns, and boy, I
shouldn't have thrown at the gardener guy. He's really good
because he holds on every play, but they don't call it. No,
That's what I want to hear now.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
At the end of the NFTY Championship game, there after
you finished, I should have done that. Would you pick
up your trumpet? Since you are now Louis shouldn't have finished?
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Shouldn't because you didn't go muppet no longer straight it's a.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Wonderful world, but not that anymore. But legitimately you have
a couple of minutes of that. People get incensed, They
text their friends. Can you believe this?
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Thirty one of thirty two fan bases didn't like it.
I am sure with that astry about it. I'm not
tune in the draft. I'm excited now. I got to
watch my homes go ahead. And then I'm gonna get
on social media and his brother is gonna tweet something,
and then Cherry Travis Kelsey's gonna probably curse. Okay, I've
sen's all right, great, but then they bring it out again,
and then.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
We're gonna bring it in a second, Travis Kelsey's gonna
bring it out.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
We're gonna bring it. I would show up everywhere I
went with that. I've got dinner reservations at a steakhouse.
Is it my turn to bring the trophy with? Damn right?
It's the center pace. That is the same thing flowers
out here. Okay, the Chiefs showing up the Lombardi Trophy
of the draft not equal to Mike Harmon showing up
(28:56):
in a steakhouse with the Lombardi. Here it is. If
I've got the trophy. I'm waving in your damn face.
You got the trophy. The police are behind you because
you've stolen it from somebody. No, maybe I know people.
I can just see you running down the street with
the Lombardi trophy trying to call me on the boat. Hey,
where are you in the car? I got the Lombardi trophy.
Come back with that trophy, trying.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
To run out with money and Ocean's eleven that get
shot in the back and they conquered.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
And I just know Mahomes his brother would be the
guy to tackle you to get the Lobardi trump.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
He take two steps.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
He would do it while he's filming it. He is,
he would film it while he's running on. I'm gonna
get him. He's not getting any get him. I'm gonna
get it. Do you kid me? Dude, you can't run anymore.
You can't run anymore. Just let's be on. It would
be a couple of steps. I'm just saying.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
He wouldn't make the effort, would.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Make sure is this good? He pull out a selfie
stick out of his neck. It would be he would
be like in a Friday the Thirteenth where Jason is
standing over a victim, and all they can do is
just back up and say no, no, And he kind
of stands there and he gives the head tilt and
he holds up the machete and they're going no, like,
why can't you run? Because that's you. Why can't you run?
(30:06):
Then you see the machete come down, boom, and they
cut to the next scene. That's it.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
We're gonna have a TikTok video maybe next week of
me dusting your ass and a race.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
No, we're not gonna have a race. We're not gonna race.
There's no money.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Race Sidefeld huge enough to run the wheels I got,
Ruth speed you are.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
You are standing up for nobody. You are standing up
for such a small percentage of the population right now.
That's fine, nobody. You know what.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Sometimes you gotta stand up for the little guy. Now,
the chief, the super Bowl champion, chiefs. You gotta stand
up for what you said, for that small percentage, stand
up for them. You stand up for You have a title.
You're standing up for Amazon. Stand up for Jeff Bezos.
He needs that.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
To stand up for Jeff Bezos. Y yes, Phil Knight,
to stand up for Phil Knight. You have the opportunity.
I don't know why you Bomber stand up for.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Steve Bomber, and this stands up for Steve Colling. All
these guys will stand up for Steve. Help that guy
needs a hug his you know his team's out of
the playoffs. Well it, guys worked like twenty billion dollars.
Stand up for that may still crush his soul more
than you know. Topsy Turvy day in the stop market
stock market. But stand up for Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
I do.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
I am a Swift, Ye, I have the baseball jersey.
I'm ready for August.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Stand up for Katie Perry, Katy Perry, all or twiteter
you need, need you all these.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Well, she does think you because she made the comments
you know, on the show that had people upset.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Right, just I'm sure sure you're saying he.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Needs a little bit of help standing up the little
guy yet, But I am standing up for that small
percent of Manchester City, for Manchester for at all.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
If this offends you, that's a you problem. No it's not.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
They celebrated and every chip they celebration chicken in your faith.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
They let me say, okay, hang on, hang on, hey,
let me say this. Let me say this. They're celebrating you,
celebrate the chimps. If you champ is here. Okay, okay,
if you let's just say this is this is this
is this is the great this is the analogy that
is a pretty good champs here. But this is the
right analogy to have. Okay, somebody is having a party
(32:00):
and they're celebrating you because you just broke up with
your girlfriend. Right, it's your birthday and they're celebrating you. Right, Okay,
that's great. Hey, this is awesome. And you show up
to the party. Great, your friends are there, there's a
big plate of food, big and everything else? Is there?
The beer you like? Is there? Whatever? That I p
a crazy ass stuff like my stouts? Okay, the stouts
(32:22):
whatever with the picture with the guy with the with
the orange but it's a but it's a mohawk. Whatever
that is that people like because it's an orange with
a mohawk. I hate that. All right, they have but
they have your favorite beer? Is there? They're run just
like just like in ted Lasso. They're running old episodes
of the Bulls, the Bulls winning championships, right everything. Everybody's excited, right,
(32:44):
the party excited to start, right, very excited, and right
at the beginning of the party, had the host says, hey,
we're here to very celebrate. We're celebrating Harmon, like we're
celebrating football, right, we're celebrating Harmon. We're celebrating him. Hey,
he had a bad breakup, but let's do this. And
then suddenly the doorbell rings. Oh wait, somebody else is here.
Wait wait, wait, let's start, and incomes your ex and
she's holding up and hold him up a picture of
her new boyfriend, going, everybody, we can do better than this.
(33:06):
Look at this. This is a guy out dating. His
name is John C.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I can tie this to the news of the day
because in my world, with the people we hang out with,
in our large crew of jackassering, you know what, everybody
would start doing Jerry Jerry, because it would feel like
a Jerry Springer episode.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Paying O correct him, because that's how people would analogy that.
Wait a minute, I don't know about. And then nobody
is celebrating this except your ex and the new boyfriend
with the picture. Look at it right here, we can
do better. People are celebrating on TV. Okay number one,
(33:50):
But then then you're actually It's like, wow, that really stunk,
and everybody was mad about it. Okay, and then halfway
through the party, Hey, she comes back, shows the picture again.
You're like, why you have to come back? All right?
Now it's over right, and you say, okay, the party
is gonna end. Hey, I hope you had a good time.
This is great, but everybody' gonna leave in a few minutes. Alright, great,
and then she shows up one more time. Hey, remember
(34:11):
this is my new boyfriend. No, no, that's exactly.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
What that you was different than say you go out
to a bar, restaurant or a club and the DJ
decides he's got you jumping, and then he plays a
slow song.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
You've killed the vibe. Everybody, Well, but that kills it
for everybody. She shows up with the picture and they
call it.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
But it made for good TV because people are hyped.
People were excited.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
No, I didn't like it, didn't like it, didn't care
for but it got your blood pumping and you you
got enraged by it.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
That's okay, they got a reaction out of you. Remember,
in our business in TV, what do you want be lover?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Hated? Indifference is the worst. Just put everybody would love it.
Everybody would have just loved it. But they loved it
any they didn't. No, I didn't want to remind it
all that she Yes, the Chiefs are so great. Remind
me again how great they are draft, how greatness, how
great they are. Look how lucky we are to have
(35:13):
these guys and we do everything right, we win again. Yeah,
that's what I wanted. Yeah, Kelsey had been keeping a
low profile. You're insane, Twitter it out about a fresco.
Mike has swollen dumb. Jason Swift Show with my best
friend Mike Carmon Coming up next, we continue to break
down Round one of the NFL Draft, still other quarterbacks,
(35:34):
to get to what we loved about, what we saw
in the first round, what we could see in round two.

Speaker 4 (35:51):

couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up

Speaker 1 (35:58):
What is up on Game?
Speaker 4 (35:59):
You asked, along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman,
Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yup, that's right, Plexico Birds.
You can only name a show with that type of talent.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
On it.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Fifteenth pick in the twenty twenty three NFL Draft, the.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
New York Jay d Has Jacks Jacks Jats select Will
McDonald's linebacker. Iowa, stay, let's go. Yeah, I think that's
Tightcher's kid. Let's go, Let's go. That is we will
have that drop forever. Now. He was awesome. He was great.
(36:59):
I almost thought he was gonna go the New York
j e Ts Jets. Jets, Jets who got Aaron Rodgers
and are going to the super Bowl because we're going.
He worked out today. There was video forget about Oh,
he's knocking his show up. He's already there with a
Jets logo on. They select for Jason Smith Will McDonald
because the number of times he talks about McDonald's They
had to get a player named McDonald. I'm sure Jase
(37:21):
is gonna have a big mac for him tonight. Very excited.
That would have been a nice edition. Is very very exciting. Absolutely,
he was jacked up about it.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
And uh, you know, we noticed that Rogers footwork was
a little off and the ball was a little wobbly,
but that's okay.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
TJ Will McDonald's on the Jets, j E T S. Jets.
I've been waiting to give you that one all night
as soon as that happened.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
I've been waiting to give you that one as soon
as I saw it because I had Roger Jones going there.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Jets. Yeah, all the Patriots. I'm surprised he's speaking of
screwing screwing me. Boy's gonna take that.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Wow, thank you, so Jason, is that also on camera?
Speaker 1 (38:04):
That well? On camera? Yeah? Okay, okay, thanks with on camera.
The Ravens keep Lamar Jackson all right. They give him
over one hundred and eighty million dollars guaranteed money, so
not quite the two fifty he was seeking, more than
the one thirty three initially, and he is now the
highest paid player in NFL history.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
I at average of a million dollars, more more than
Jalen Hursts.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
I can't believe he went back, but he did. I
missed it. I got it wrong, But I gotta say
I'm not surprised I got it wrong, because when no
team wants to trade for you and you don't have
an agent, and other teams are finding it weird to
try to talk to you and contact you, where are
you gonna go. I'm gonna go back to the team
that has a dialogue with me and talks with me,
(38:50):
that knows me. And this is the team that I
played for. They're the team that's gonna give me the money.
So I was wrong, and I'm also I'm not even
surprised that I'm wrong about that.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Yeah, when it came down to it, I felt pretty
good about this one when it came down this morning.
Now I am disappointed that this all resolved itself ahead
of the draft.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Yeah, we got a lot we still have. You know,
is Arizona get a trade base Hockets, Diggs and Buffalo?
Speaker 2 (39:16):
I mean there's still a few of those. But with Lamar,
remember what I what I said, for both both sides,
it was probably the best of things because you probably
felt it was personal. You didn't have any buffer to
try to talk business, and maybe your family did, but
you know a lot of it was all right. Feelings
are hurt and feeling dejected, not wanted blah blah blah.
But you go into the marketplace, you don't find what
(39:39):
you want. That's a huge chasm between what was originally
offered and where Deshaun Watson was a lot of room
to make up there as they did, but now it
became a it's it's always business, never personal, full on
Nino Brown kind of moment, because you come back to
explaining the millennials, Nino Brown Jackson, I was like, it
(40:01):
was like nineteen ninety one, thirty years ago.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Come on, Judd Nelson was in it. Can you imagine
in nineteen ninety one making a reference saying, uh, just
like and go back and making like a Gregory peck Uh.
You know, Movieference can't tell me that kids haven't seen that.
I don't think so much. And I'm a hustler, h
usd L h hustler, hustler, hustler. Sorry, go ahead, hustler.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
But the idea is you got that off, you got
to go try to explore, right, go out into the world.
See what you can find that wasn't there.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
So what do you do? You come home? You come home.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Commerheads prevail and business gets done, and then you add
Za Flowers. After adding Odell Beckham Junior feeling pretty.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
Good again, I'm I'm not surprised because where else was
he going to go? How many more wide receivers will
DeCosta add the dree for more, Ozzie Newsom will come
back to play play, They'll do all of it? Are
you kidding? Twitter? At out Mount of Fresco? Mike gets
swollen dumb The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Round one of the NFL Breakdown continues next
(41:04):
with another quarterback pick that we love, plus the team
that it looked like the NFL was determined to make
us all hate Box
