(00:50):
a glimpse of Mike Harmon of the greatness and who
James Harden used to be. We got to see at
the end of Game two against the Celtics. Yeah, we
really never saw this guy in a play off game
because normally he was tripping over his tongue because he'd
played so many weary minutes during a regular season, taking
so many shots, taking so many defensive stretches, off all

(01:10):
of those things that normally come playoff time, he wasn't
able to do tonight. Tonight it all came together, he said.
Joel Embiid MVP by O. No, James Harden is the
hero we all deserve tonight. Why it is if you
want a long series between the Celtics and the seventy
six Ers, forty five points for the Sixers without Joel Embiid,

(01:33):
they win Game two over the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
They make in a series.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Harden had an incredible game, nothing bigger than this shot.
With about eight seconds left to go, the Celtics looked
like they were in control, and Harden said, Hey, remember
I used to be this guy.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Fifteen seconds to go, Horford has him out top James
with a dribble Harden one on one, nine seconds on
the shot clock. Harden for three. Shut up, it's good.
Hard made a triple. The Sixers go up by two
eight seconds ago.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Sixers Radio Network on the call. That shot by James
Harden his forty fifth point of the game, forty three,
forty four and forty five, and the Sixers win without
Joel Embiid, who they're hoping to get back for game two.
They're hoping to get him back, and look, they say
he's trending in the right direction, but without him in

(02:26):
game one they win. This is one of those reasons why.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Why not us?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Anybody can say, what if the if the Celtics home court,
we have game what what are we gonna do? Hey,
guess what? We wind up completely brain cramping. We have
a lead late, we give it away, they don't even
have the MVP, and we can't win game one. And
this is why all the teams why not us? Why
not us? Just had an incredible stretch of bad decision

(02:55):
making and poor play down the stretch for the Boston
Celtics at home and beat us out. When you say
trending in the right direction, if he just sits on
his ass for four days, he's got to be trending
in the right direction because he can't do any more damage. Right,
But are you trending if you're just I don't know,
if you're sitting and not going anywhere, maybe you're stagnant.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Right.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
But in theory, from a healing perspective, if he's not
actively doing anything, okay, I mean, he can't make it
any worse. So the trending in the right direction, Yeah,
that's coach speak for we have no idea. I mean
as soon as Doc was in his Saturday and media
availability going he's doubtful for Monday, Like wait what? Because

(03:35):
it went from a nebulous and he is bothering him
to no, he's not gonna play Monday too. Well, maybe
we get him back, but huge efforts from Maxie and
obviously James hard When he hit that three point shot,
everything went chaotic here in our Fox Sports Radio extended studios,
our editors and associate produces, everybody with a loud scream.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
A couple of folks that claim Philly as home.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So they were I don't know how much work we
were getting out of them in those final minutes, but
I love that you go through the play by play
and with five point one seconds left, Marcus Smart makes
the worst pass to where your immediate reaction.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Is have would you extol the ball?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
It was one of those bad passes where there's no
teammate anywhere near. I was going back to Freddie Brown
in the eighty two championship game. Why do you pass
the James worthy like that was the passing James, look like,
what's going on here? So that's five point one left.
It just says Marcus Smart, bad pass, Paul Reid steals
Tatum with a file, Reid hits bowl, free throws, So

(04:37):
a huge sequence there where it was still all right
one seventeen one point fifteen setting up a play and
you saw the reaction of the teammates.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Like, what did you see?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
What were you anticipating in that moment because there was
not a green jersey to be found anywhere near the
intended passing lane there, so uh really for the Celtics,
a huge letdown on the home court, opportunity to run
through with Embiid on the sidelines instead. James Harden everything
you could ever want and then some. So immediately everybody's

(05:13):
looking around going, wait, are we get into different James Harden?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Now, well, what's going on? I'm glad you bring up
James Harden Now. Tonight show brought to you by Discover.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
At the end of your first year, Discover credit cards
automatically double all the cash back you were and Nut's right, everything.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
You earned is doubled. Seriously see terms.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Check it out for yourself at discover dot com slash match.
Harden has an incredible game tonight. And I'll tell you
what I liked the most about him was in the
last two minutes when you are expecting, Okay, Harden's just
going to be James Harden in the past. Right, You're
gonna see he's gonna hoist up some bad shots and
the Sixers are gonna lose. It's gonna be Look, James Harden,
not the guy. Harden didn't look to take a shot

(05:50):
until that three with eight seconds left. He was masterful
in the final couple of minutes with the ball, finding
the right outlet and getting the ball to the right player.
They hit the free throws, they made shots. Harden was fantastic.
It's it's like this. He outthought the Celtics all by himself,
which was which was brilliant because the Celtics lot They're

(06:10):
defaulting to him. Now it's like Maxi's nice, He's not
gonna take this shot. Harden's gonna do it. Harden's gonna
do it. And Harden kept finding the right place to
go at the basketball. Brilliant. They were absolutely brilliant. Now
that being said about Harden, don't expect this This is not.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Who James Hard.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
This is once in a while James Hard. Players like
Harden can show you, hey, this is what I used
to This is how I used to do it, right,
and that for Harden, that's like his recent as three
years ago. But this is one of those Hey, I
can't do it every night.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
I may not be able to do it more than
once in a series, say, but I can do it
once in a while, and I can show you how
I used to be.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Because if I'm not as good now as I ever was,
the way your song is good, I once was as
good once, but I'm not as good as I am now.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
I was as good as I used to be before.
What's the name of your song?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
It's the Iron As good as I once was, but
I'm as good once as I ever was. Fact that
they had played since the twenty second of April probably
helped James Harden just just what we've been here and
again the absolute what should we say, lack of oxygen
to the brain brains of several Boston players.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
You had that fall on Tatum down along the end
line where you're trying to you see the swipe.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
But for James Harden, the days off certainly can't couldn't
have hurt, right, That's what we've been We anticipate the
Lakers and Warriors to that same end of the Lakers
got to sit around a little bit longer by vanquishing
this now silent Dylan Brooks and the Memphis Grizzly.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
No, that's what I've been told all weekend, the yelling
that everywhere I went.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
But an impressive game Maxi once again, because that's the
other part of this, right is and Tatum had thirty
nine in defeat for the Celtics, but as good as
Harden was, what you get from Maxi on a regular basis.
This is a guy that I think more and more
people are recognizing is a star on his own right,
gets lost behind Himbad and Harden, but one of those

(08:16):
glue guys on the rise. So if not to expect
this from Chaid, they don't need This is where we
need you to do it once in a while, James,
we needed you this game, and you did it and
it was phenomenal. Right, once in a while. As the
playoffs go on, older players simply can't do it. Right now,
The other part of this takeaway from this game, the
Sixers winning Game one, This and what we have seen

(08:38):
so far in the NBA playoffs should be all the
argument you ever need over tanking and not choosing to
go to the playoffs, over choosing to go to the
lottery instead, because what have we seen in the playoffs
so far. Stars now are always going to get hurt.
It's too much basketball, even though they don't play in
a lot of games. It's too much regular season and
they're too dinged up. You were on the second round

(08:59):
of the playoff. Joelle Embiid misses game one, Julius Randall
misses game one, maybe he misses game two. Maybe Jalen
Brunson's now questionable for like Julius Randall, Though, why I gotta.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Go to players who are injured, who are still in
the playoffs. I have to go to that. I can't
go to guys not in the playoffs. What I am
I gonna say, Kawhi? Okay, what is surprize? Kawhi? But
you want to go back to the first round all
the guys who miss games? Is that?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Now this is a this is a regular thing for
the playoffs. Is stars are going to miss games Yiannis
miss games, they're out of the playoffs. Stars are gonna
miss every year, every single year. Guys get hurt and
they're not gonna play. Maybe it's the first round, maybe
it's the second round. But you have teams now that
are lower seeded going. We're sitting here in the conference

(09:41):
semis here there's eight teams left and we're one of
the Lakers are saying, boy, what a crappy regular season
we had. Look at us the heater, saying, nobody gave
us a chance. And now we're up. We have a
chance to basically win the series on Tuesday night. Just
getting in. Now you see the rewards because for a
long time, you weren't getting in as an eight seed
of winning anything.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
It wasn't happening.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
You couldn't do the NBA playoffs. The teams at the
top of the conference were too good. You couldn't do it.
You need you earn a championship in the NBA more
than ever. But now things are different because players can't
stay healthy. So that's why when I see teams choosing, Ah,
we'll choose the lottery, Mavericks, We'll choose the lottery over
the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Why are you doing it. You could have snuck it, right,
I guarantee you Mark Cuban. Look at Dodgers are going, wow,
we could have maybe won that game. Snuck in. Maybe
we're playing the Warriors, maybe we're playing the Nuggets. Maybe
it works out. Oh, mag who knew who was gonna
get hurt? We didn't know this was gonna happen, or
this was gonna happen. This guy would get hurt, and
this guy would get hurt, and who knew? Maybe we
could have done that. This is your argument against Titan.

(10:37):
That's all you need is these NBA playoffs are go.
This is why you go to the playoffs and try
and not say, oh, it's not our year, we're going home.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah. If he's actually doing that on the set of
Shark Tank or whatever voiceover work he's doing right now,
sell the damn team. Sell the damn team because you
obviously did not read the tea leaves in the process.
We talked about it. When it happens, like, fine, go
take your shot, but when the ping pong ball comes
up and you're the number eleven pick, don't come crying

(11:06):
to me because she gave up both and now you
got Kyrie hugging Lebron James. Well in Game six, he's
got to find his way back into the league somehow,
the Lakers. He's gotta be vocal. Did you see how
inspired D'Angelo Russell was that night? And then Kyrie showed up.
It's like he's Sting hanging out in the rafters all
those years ago. Not Sting the singer.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
But no, I know.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
All this time Sting was in the round. Yeah, to
where he shows up all over the place. Well, now
you've got Kyrie. He showed up at the Sacramento Golden
State Game seven. Dodge, Sure you're gonna go with us
to see Sting.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Yeah, I think I'm about thirty years too late to
go see Sting. It's still all this time. It's great.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Yeah, right, he still gets it done. Yeah, but it's
got a tight band. He doesn't just sit and sing liked.
I nevous about seeing up because you know, I don't
know what kind of show I'm gonna get.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Well, what do you want him to do? Jumping jacks?

Speaker 1 (12:05):
At least Axel Rose is still running around the stage
and jumping up and down, and yeah, it's great.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Alleged No, he was doing No, I was there I
saw it actually scumming again later this time that again.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
I mean my friend of mine went to go see
Phil Collins, and Phil Collins came out looking a walker.
It's just Satins and Satin the drum kit to do.
I'm like, oh, because he's ninety, Yeah, I know, Phil,
Phil's he's got some physical top.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Sting.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Still got the tantric sex keep good? You know, does
he really still or just does he have that reputation
after it? I think he only has the tantric sex
reputation because what when's the last time you actually had people.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Talking about it like, oh, I don't think it hard.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I don't people get a little scared of talking about
guys with their their sex lives after it is great
that you heard about it, and now you think, like,
that's exactly what I'm gonna try to go to a
Q and A and an afternoon.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
You're gonna ask me. We'll see when you get him
on the show.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Hey sting Mike harmon Fox Sports Radio, is the tantric
sex still a thing with you and Trudy?

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Is that still?

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Is that still a thing? And you didn't kill anybody
in only murders in the building, right, now you didn't.
I'm trying trying to catch up on the first season.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Why is he sneering at me? Twitter?

Speaker 1 (13:11):
How about do fretscumb? Mike can swollen dumb. The Jason
Smith Show with My best Friend Mike Carvelett all you

So the Sixers take Game one to the surprise of many,
without Joel Embiid.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
But he's the MVP, I know know.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Oh wait oh wait wait wait oh they can they
can kind of win without him? Hmmm, interesting, doc Rivers
not the MVP, doc doc doc Doc. Meanwhile, Suns and
Nuggets Game two here Denver looking for two games and
non lead Phoenix with the early eighteen sixteen leads till
two minutes to go in the first quarter. Kd's got four. Meanwhile,

(14:15):
Jokic already with eleven for the Nuggets. So as much
as he likes to say, hey, we're gonna follow Jamal Murray,
he's oh, no, no, hey, give me the ball. He's
already got nine shots from the floor. Yeah, that's great,
that's great. But right now, Vegas, mister action, I'm shooting
the ball. How can I win?

Speaker 3 (14:33):
You win? But joining us.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Now on the hotline. It's been a wild NFL weekend.
To put everything in perspective. Longtime NFL insider Odyssey the
Washington Post. He's on Twitter at Jason Locke and four
it is Jason lock and for what's happening?

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Man?

Speaker 3 (14:48):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (14:49):
What's going on? Gentlemen? So you're in some new digs?

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Huh Yeah, we got new studio. Yeah, listen. The last
story the last day in the new studio was Aaron
Rodgers to the Jets. We close the old student, no
more stories. We cleared that studio. Jay.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
Wow, he went out with a blaze glory.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I know, right, doesn't get better than that, you know what?
The best of it though, I was though Jason. I
was off on Monday night, so I miss most of it.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Yeah. So yeah, well you'll have seventeen weeks to endure
so and the next four months.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Now, let me throw this before you get into the draft,
because look, Rogers, the last few days we've seen him,
he has said all the right things.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
He is already working out that.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I just watched the video of him throwing that pass
to Garrel Wilson over and over today of practice for
for all the the If you're on the in the
camp of Aaron Rodgers is gonna be great. Aaron Rodgers
is gonna stink. He didn't come here to suck. This
is not a guy that's showing up for the money.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
And I got it. I'm gonna catch this check. He is.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
He has seemed like everything he's done so far is hey,
here's his fresh start. And already I'm showing up in
the off season, which I didn't do before in Green
Bay because hey, I kind of like where I am
right now. So I'm gonna the benefit of the doubt
there that Hey, he is coming in and he's coming
in to say, Okay, I want to try to win.
I'm improving my legacy. I'm not going to catch sixty
million dollars and walk away.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
I mean it's been what two days, I mean, yeah,
that's that's Yeah. He hasn't said or done anything ridiculous yet,
It's only happens day, hasn't even been in the building
a week yet getting he's getting his full sixty million
dollars from the only team that wanted to pay it
to him, because let's be real, the Packers didn't. I'm sorry,
I can grate on a curve at times, but I'm

(16:32):
gonna let this one breathe a little bit before I
opine about you know what I mean, how he's going
to fit into New York. What you know, his sessions
with Pat McAfee are going to be like if they're
three and four or something like that. Like, I just
think there's a lot of risk involved in this, including
this guy played a lot of football games in the
second half of last year where a lot of people

(16:52):
were saying, oh, well, they're surely they're going to win
this game and turn it around. Oh it's Aaron Rodgers.
They're going to win the next week. I mean, look
at the harble NFC. How could he not get in
the play. Oh okay, well last week was last week,
but this week, I mean, of course they're going to win,
and it never happened. So, I mean, I just think
he's out a point in his career where he's a
declining asset.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
He's trying to do a whole face turn here. We'll
do a whole WWE analogy later on on it. But
they're at Baltimore. I mean, obviously some hugeness at the
end of the week, just ahead of the draft. I
was hoping things would drag out because I love drama. Instead,
you get a giant contract, giant novelty size check and
everybody kissed him made up.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
I mean, look, ultimately, all's well, that ends well, and
this is a franchise defining moment. And they win three
out of every four games with Lamar Jackson and they
damned their loose three out of every four without them.
That's just been their reality the last five years. And
this thing got uglier and nastier and weirder, and I
mean we had the whole what was the guy's name,
Ken whatever, It wasn't Ken Jenny's. I want to say

(17:55):
Ken Jenny's, but that.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Was That's the Jeopardy guy.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
Yeah, I mean Ken whatever, and he you know, maybe
Lamar's interviewing himself, and then that never came out, and
then Lamar is going public with a trade request, and
then you know, has Lamar's I don't think his like
shakeaway thing has come out yet, but I guess it
still is. I mean, it's you whatever the hell he was,
you know, putting on his Twitter feed the commercial for
his workout thing. I mean, it's been weird, but they

(18:21):
got it done, and they got it done right before
the draft started, and they kind of blew people's minds
around here. And really, you know, it's a hat tip
to Hollie Roseman. If the Eagles don't get that thing
done with Jaralen Hirks as expeditionally as they did, then
the Ravens and Lamar Jackson are probably still in purgatory
or the Abyss or wherever they were the last couple

(18:43):
of years. But once you had a real sort of
comp there that looked and kind of felt similar to this,
and he's doing it post to Sean Watson contract too,
you know, and he agreed to what he agreed to, which, frankly,
a lot of people in the NFLPA wish he had,
you know, not signed that deal when he did for
that money, But he did, and that brought the Ravens

(19:03):
and Lamar together and in the span of a couple
of weeks they went from not talking really at all
for getting a deal done.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Jason locking for our guests here the Jason Smizer with
Mike Harmon. All right, So now elsewhere in the draft,
we saw a lot of teams. Hey, it looked like
they had good picks. You saw teams trade up and
make a lot of It was the biggest draft as
far as trades have gone.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Whose draft did you like the most.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
For whatever reason, whether it was a number of players,
whether it was what they brought in, Whose draft did
you like the most?

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Well, I mean I like the Steelers draft a lot.
And he talked to you know, your sources around the league,
who you trust and who try to shoot you as
straight as they can. I don't hear a lot of
them throwing a whole lot at you know, stones at
what the Steelers did. You know, they basically turned Chase Claypool,
who wasn't going to get a second contract there, into

(19:53):
Joey Porter junior at thirty two had they taken Joey
Porter Junior at seventeen, people wouldn't have freaked out and Pittsburgh,
in fact, they would have been really excited, and they
were really excited about the pick at thirty two. If
you look at any of the draft charts, they probably
should have had to give up a three to move
up and take the Patriots pick at fourteen to get

(20:13):
ahead of the Jets. Sorry to take an offensive line
that the Jets coveted. Sorry, but I think, and I've
got some reporting on this coming out in the Washington Post,
I'm pretty sure Bill Belichick did that just to f
the Jets, you know, basically, like, I'll take below slot, right,
They're still going to be a good player for me.
At seventeen. He knew the Steelers were coming up to
take the tackle, So I like, what the Steelers did,

(20:36):
you know? I mean, look that the kid from Georgia,
even if he doesn't have two contracts because of medicals,
if he is a formidable blocker for them and they're
protecting the quarterback and the offensive line's been a problem forever,
if they upgraded the offensive line with a legitimate, big
time blocking tight end, plus they upgraded the tackle position,

(20:58):
and that's an athletic freekul into more twelve personnel can
also catch stuff underneath. Like I just like the way things,
you know, I kind of like what they're doing. I
like the d lineman they took. I mean, this team
really turned it on in the second half of the
season and competed with some of the better teams in
the AFC. So I kind of, you know, I'm kind

(21:20):
of bullish on what the Steelers did.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Now Kenny Pickett chugging beers with Luke Combs at a concert, so,
I mean he's ruling the day.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Well, you know what do they call that living your
best life or something that is right it?

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, Well, they didn't draft anybody like Jason Smith wanted
him to replace him, so that that worked out pretty nicely.
Since it is sports talk radio, Jason, we'd be remiss
if we didn't say, all right, open the can of negativity.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Where's the draft that left your scratch in your head?
Don't say Jets. I already said I didn't like what
the Jets did. I'm not a big fan.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
They panicked a little bit there, and there's a sense
of the industry that and look, they've done a good
job lately. I don't hate their draft or anything like that,
but it was kind of an odd pick and they
might have been a little rattled because of what happened
right in front of them. I don't the Lions doesn't
make sense to me. And I've called people around the
league and sayd am I missing something here? Or is
this just a little beat you know what? Crazy? And

(22:13):
everybody's like, no, we don't get it either. I mean,
if you wanted, if you wanted a running back, you
could have stayed at six and just taken be John Robinson,
you know what I mean, who maybe doesn't have the
high high end speed of this other kid you know
of Gibbs, but is the better is the better football player,
maybe the best football player in the draft. And then

(22:33):
you know, I don't get Gibbs at twelve. And then
they took their really team that took an inside linebacker
in the first round, and they're one of only two
that took a running back and they didn't get the
best running back. So it's like, well, you're going to
move around like that and come away with two players
who the industry thinks you could have gotten each ten
to fifteen picks lower. I don't know, you know what

(22:56):
I mean, And I kind of like had Hooker, but
not many teams passed on him as long as they did.
That gives me some palls about the medicals and how
soon he'll really be able to play. And that was
a bit of a vanity pick for them, and I
get it in the third round. I guess you can
do that. But that's a team that I looked at
their draft capitol and said, they've got a real chance
here in a very mediocre NFC to make, you know,

(23:21):
to add some blue chip players and really come out
of this. I thought more fortified in the in the
trenches and there were some dtackles there around the you know, eighteen,
it would have made sense. And again I just I
don't know, man, for me, it was too cute by
half and I haven't found many people out there who
really are going to champion it.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Jay.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Now we will see the next phase of what teams
want to do after the draft, the attention. There could
be some deals. You know, we heard some big rumors
of big names that might move before the draft or
during the draft. Do you see anything big happening the
next to next few months as we did. We get
said getting in could you see big names move somewhere
or not.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
I mean, the time to usually do that kind of
stuff for guys who've been on the block for a
long time, like DeAndre Hopkins is generally the draft. So
I'm not anticipating a wave of those sort of transactions. Now.
We are past the point in time where you know,
signing unrestricted free agents doesn't count against your compensatory pick
equation anymore. So Look, I think there's guys out there

(24:23):
like Marcus Peters and Justin Houston. You know, we've had
a pretty good track record over time, but maybe aren't
what they used to be. I think there's guys like
that who could find a home quickly if they want.
Some of them just may want to wait till deeper
in the offseason to see if more teams, you know,
suffer injuries, guys get hurt at OTA's and stuff, and
maybe a better opportunity emerges. But I'm not banking on

(24:44):
a whole lot at this point. I think, you know,
deeper into the off season. Obviously, during training camp, we've
got only one cutdown now, right, they change the way
they trim these rosters, and that was going to be
nuts to begin with, and I think you'll see obviously
a flurry of trade activity then, So no, I'm not

(25:07):
expecting a whole lot in regards, you know, for major trades.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Last one, just a quick react, What do you think
of Gudako's response about Jordan Love's fifty year option.

Speaker 5 (25:23):
I mean, I don't, look, this kid hasn't played a
whole lot of football. They've you know, they've made their bed.
But that's an organization that I think always has one
other eye on the other guy, I mean, whoever that
may be. And next year's draft people are talking about
it like it's generational. And the Packers did a fairmental
work on quarterbacks in this draft. They always do. Everybody

(25:45):
there was basically can trace their career back to Ron Wolf,
and Ron Wolf felt like, you know what I mean
that if you have a full compliment of picks every year,
you should think about taking a quarterback when one catches
your eye. So I just you know, he's gonna get
a run. We're gonna see what this looks like this year.
But again, I think they're always kind of winking at

(26:08):
whatever else is out there.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and four that is
at Jason lock and for check him out on Odyssey
Washington Posts. He's got a bid on the whole Bill
Belichick jet stuff coming out as well. Jays always, buddy,
appreciate your time, my friend. We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
Have a great week, gentlemen, and enjoy the new digs.
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Thanks C.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Jayson clearly tj not loving the word on the fifth
year extension talka this is true. You know I did
with Dan Byer yesterday on Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
I did talk up and say normally I yell at
you and scream at you a lot about a lot
of your theories, but that teams were coming around to
your just draft a bunch of quarterbacks and we fight.
Just let him go right, everybody from the pool Q
in the dark night sure throwing it on the ground.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Saying, hey, you guys, figure out, let's.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Go telling you man, my dear quarterback fourth through seven.
Every year, every year, four take four three trades in
the draft. Fourteen quarterbacks you get, and then a bunch
of guys signed is undrafted free, take them all.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Take all the quarterbacks. Who wants to see me? Make
this pencil disappear Twitter.

Speaker 1 (27:14):

match well with the draft in our rearview mirror. There's
lots of things to talk about tonight, Things we liked,
things we did like, not.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Just who had the best draft, who had the word.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
But one thing I really come away with this ad
is it a couple people I've talked to you I
know then they feel the same way. Fantasy owners like
you and I and everybody else to watch his football
should be screaming right now because every running backs situation
is turning into a time share, even Bjon Robinson and

(29:04):
Jamier Gibbs, even the two of them. Right, Robinson's joining
a team that ran for seventeen hundred yards last time.
You already had a couple of pretty good running backs there, right,
Jamir gets he here he is first round. He's also
gonna split the job with Montgomery. Now they just paid
a bunch of money in in division. Yeah, not as
crowded because they moved DeAndre Swift. But he gets hurt

(29:25):
was obvious though, Like I mean when we talked about
it Thursday and Huns like, all right, they're not gonna
have all these guys or unless they were just counting on, well,
he's gonna get hurt. Sw It's gonna be Swift. So
now Swift goes to the Eagles. Eagles have three running backs.
Now that you're like, oh, what is happening? Yeah, but
that's you know Howie Roseman can do no wrong. I
think he's got a statue right next to Carson Wentz

(29:46):
at this point. Anything he touches, I mean, you want
to talk about a guy that people are gonna start
putting little candles in front of him, bowing to a
statue of him.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
He's nothing he does is wrong, you can DeAndre Swift
is now the greatest running back in the world. That's
how he acquired it. That's like getting Walter Hey.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Great for football, great for football, awful for fantasy, right,
I mean every year it's shrinking and the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
That we used to have and it was only like
eight guys right, right right, it was folks.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Forget it was only eight to ten guys that actually
ever survived in an NFL season.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
That doesn't happen at all anymore. Forget it.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
No, you're not even getting to that level. You got
you got carries being that are gonna be taken away
in Seattle. You're talking about carries to be taken away
in Tampa, everywhere you want to go now, and even
a place like Cleveland where Nick Chubb.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Nick Chubb doesn't catch passes.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Right, So it's like, I mean everywhere you go now,
every single running back situation time Shore and the Bears.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Oh Khalil Herbert is gonna be the guy. Okay now
it's now it's he's hurt.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
So it's it's the same thing. It's just a matter
of how many guys are taking pieces of the pie.
And then you add the quarterback and a lot of
these teams that makes it even even worse. Justin vals,
keep going on down the line, it's another running back possibly,
you know, in terms of splitting those carries, it's not
quite the zero RB strategy that people had a few

(31:10):
years ago where it was all I'll just take wide
receivers wide receivers.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
But it's more like the running.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Back position now in fantasy football, whether you do regular league,
at dynasty league, whatever you do, it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
A get by position.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
You're not gonna go crazy because if your guy gets hurt,
if your guy has a bad couple of games, somebody
else does, it's too risky. So in the end it's
gonna be, well, I just need guys that are gonna play,
and I'm gonna put all my efforts into wide res
I'll put more efforts into kicker and defense and tight
end than I will running back because well, at least
it's gonna be guys out there that I'll get later

(31:44):
on because who knows who the running back is.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Going to be. But I gotta have guys that can play,
and maybe these guys turn out for me. It's a
get by position.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
I mean, you're looking at just a couple of those circumstances,
like the value of a guy like Christian McCaffrey, again,
injury history being what it is, but he's a guy
where his touch can and we're not doing carries anymore
because that's long gone.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
What do we have seven guys touch two hundred carries?

Speaker 4 (32:07):
This year.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I don't even know if it was that I'm trying
to remember. Yeah, not my end of season, but it
was more about, all right, how many passes did you catch?
Look at Austin Eckler, one hundred and twenty seven targets
right to give him that extra value and obviously the
red zone efficiency. So we're talking touchdown totals and we're
trying to beg for touch counts. Otherwise it's rolling the dice.
Get that, dungeons and dragons.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Dice out. Let's go on the twenty side.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
A die.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
I rolled a nineteen for charisma. Ah, I got he
Really people can get in the fourth round. Damn elf again.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
I'm gonna carries the breeze. Hallo, Mike stop, I'm gonna
have key your car Frostburg. I really nus one.

(33:15):
a big night in the NBA so far, still happening
right now. These Sixers behind.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
James Hard No Joe LMB take Game one over the
Boston Celtics, part of James Harden's forty five point night,
a big three with eight seconds left to go being
the big clincher for the Sixers.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
Meanwhile, now you have the Nuggets trying to take a
two games to none lead in their series over the
Phoenix Suns. Look, I told you how much I like
the Suns, and boy the Sons are playing well as
long as Kevin Durant is healthy, I really really like.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
The Suns is so far it is not gone that
way for me in this round, but it is a
you know two things in this round.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
You like the Suns and how much and explosive they are,
and you love your from Jamal Murray well his follow
up to that first game eighteen minutes, one for seven
from the field, ozero for five to three point range,
four points. All of It's gonna be decided by the starters,
though right now it's an eight to six advantage to

(34:15):
the Denver bench. That's right, eight six in terms of
bench scoring, forty two forty Phoenix with the lead at halftime.
Booker has seventeen KD with nine Jokic leading the way
for the Nuggets. But again, we still have a full
half to go. Two point game at halftime. Now, you
asked me after Game one, how nervous am I about

(34:38):
the Knicks?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Oh, it's a final.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Extremely as much as I was mister calm cool, Hey dude,
We're gonna beat the crap out of the Cavaliers. Everything
is all good. None, I have flipped that I am
as nervous as I could be, because I'm mad. I
can't remember the last time I've been so mad over
an outcome of the game. Because even without Julius Randall,
they should have won Game one. Jimmy Butler is hurt,

(35:01):
he's a decoy at the end, and the Knicks can't
hit any shots, they can't hit any threes. Jalen Brunson's
not very good, and the heat come in and they
steal Game one when they should never have won that game.
Mayde me mad like mad that that result should have
been mad. There's kind's like a disappointed over games. I
get upset at how a team my team played, but

(35:21):
I've never been mad. And I was mad about that,
and you think, Okay, that's gonna get me as mad
as a hornets. That's going in a game too. But no,
Now Julius Randall and Jalen Brunson are both questionable. See
the point I made last hour. That's why you don't
thank you get in the playoffs because you never know
when people are gonna get hurt, because people get hurt
all the time. Now this is it, Like this is
the Knicks are looking at They're going home if they

(35:43):
lose tomorrow night. Jimmy Butler might not play either, So
it's gonna be one of those. It could be one
of those naturally televised games with no stars because they're
all resting.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
But the whole series and the whole next season comes
down at tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
They may not have Randall, they may not have Jalen Brunson,
and they ab solutely need Randal if they're gonna win
this series. Like as much as I've gone from hey,
they can win without him in certain in certain games
the way they play.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Can't beat the Heat without him. You need somebody out
there that's a matchup different.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
They don't have anybody that can guard him that he'd
have nobody that can guard Julius Randall without it. You
saw what happened in Game one, Eric Spolstra out coach
Tom Thibodeaux. We're gonna make you try to make threes.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
You can't do it. Okay, you can't go down low.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
We're not gonna let you do it. Now Julius Randall
comes in, everything gets different. Defensive rotations have to change
for Spolstra and it becomes much more difficult.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
But if he doesn't play, like that's it. Even if
Brunson comes back tomorrow and Randall camp, but if he
doesn't play, that's it. Randall is the absolute key to
the series. If he comes back tomorrow and plays, then
Nicks will win the series. If he doesn't come back,
it's gonna be over, and it's gonna be over fast,
like four googets back.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
You're saying that he's the guy that just you win
just because he shows up tomorrow this series. Yeah, he's
Look what the Heat try to do defensively is they're
gonna try to they're gonna suck into the PA and
they're gonna make the Nicks beat you from outside and
the Knicks we don't have.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
They don't have that.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I say we because I can't hit those shots, but
they don't have that kind of shooting. And you can
see what are they gonna shoot seven out of thirty
four from three point land?

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Again, I hope not, but still they.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Made them get out of their comfort zone and the
Knicks couldn't adjust. Now you bring Randall Beck, who can
step out in one of those shots.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
But also it's a lot tougher down low. He makes
things different. No, certainly, it's that's game.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
That's it, that's it for this series. Other teams can
get by without winning without a star. You saw tonight,
Hey we got James Harden. They were able to beat
the Celtics a sixers. He's kind of a star, Nick
k Max, he's kind of a star hard Yeah, And no,
Harden is not quite the star he was. But Randall

(37:48):
means much more to the Knicks than a lot of
stars do, just because so much of what they do
is predicated around moving the ball, moving it through him
and getting him shot. But either way, he's not coming
back anywhere near one hundred percent, right. It's it's the
difficulty of this time of year. We talk about many
a weary minute in the playoff, it's a much different
atmosphere every possession, unless you throw the ball away as

(38:10):
the Celtics did in that final fifteen seconds for a
wide open layup that you're looking at, every possession becomes
a grind down experience. Not a lot of quick shots,
a lot of defensive effort and weirder minutes on the body.
So for Julius Randall, be curious to see, if he

(38:32):
is able to come back in game two, what kind
of effectiveness level he's got. Does it draw enough space
to where maybe one of these open shots falls. But
if Brunson's not there, it becomes RJ. Barrett against Kyle Lowry.
If my guy Jimmy Butler from my heat who can't go.
He had eighteen off the bench, he scored your bench

(38:54):
by himself, he did. And usually because that's the other
thing short rotations, right is where we're we're seeing in
the playoffs, Not that you don't expect that anyway, but
watching what we are tonight in the night camp of
this one, Denver and Phoenix. Not a lot of effort
and minutes being played by the bench, and certainly in
that Heat and Knicks game, Yeah, you got a lot
of minutes between Martin and Lowry off the bench, but

(39:16):
the scoring coming from Lowry and the Knicks. If Randall's
limited and Brunson doesn't play, you're in for a tough
road here, pal.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
I'll tell you be over in four. It'll be a
four game sweep. But it's gonna be. Look what happened
because Julius Randall got hurt. I mean, that's what what
it's gonna be. He doesn't come back, that's it, and
then we're done by the best. I'm telling you. That's
how it's gonna be. Now, I'm glad.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Would you rather it be you're blaming Julius Randall for
the loss because he couldn't play or or turn back
the clock in his playoff disappearance two years ago?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
I would rather that's tough.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
I would rather well if the Knicks lose because he
stinks it gives us more to talk about than if
the Knicks lose because they don't have it. It's like,
what are you gonna do? I'm just talking from your
fandom in your heart Okay, wait wait, ask me again
in your heart of hearts, which is more difficult to process,
And where do you place more blame and angst? Randall

(40:17):
can't play because he's injured, and now you're questioning could
he have come back, could he have given us a
couple of good minutes? Or when he's stunk two years
ago and you just were able to say, yeah, that's you.
No more angst if he stunk more, because the angst
of Julius Randall stinking from two seasons ago stayed with
me for a long time, affected everything else. But the

(40:40):
Mets weren't sunny and shiny, no, no, not even you
know whatever your favorite picture was of the moment. Because
we have celebrated four day Man Harvey Day, like we've
bounced around. It never got to be sure's your day,
but you get my day Wednesday, Thursday, it's gonna be

(41:02):
where the Mets again now.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
But enough for the Mets.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
But it's good that we get to talk about Miami
in the next tonight because starting tomorrow there's gonna be
no time for it. Tonight show brought to you by
Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes Bundling easy and affordable. Get a
multi policy. It's gone by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more all your protection of one plays bundle

(41:27):
the Warriors and Lakers begin, there is room for nothing else.
Every other playoff series looks like it's an exhibition. Hey,
there's a friendly going on tomorrow, isn't it Game four
of the Sun And yeah, but nobody cares.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
It's a friendly. We have the Warriors and the Lakers.
It's Lebron and Ad and Steph and Clay and Draymond,
and it's we're never gonna see this again, or we
have to act like and we have to deal with
the assumption that we're never gonna see a playoff series
like this again between the Lakers and the Warriors.

Speaker 5 (42:00):
This may be it.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
It may be the last time to see this incredible matchup.
Of course, all of Lebron's history is gonna be with
the Warriors through Cleveland. But still it's Lebron and the Warriors.
I mean, there's no room for anything else.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
This is taking it.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
So I'm glad we had the NFL Draft. It would
be Hey, Lakers, Warrior and if we have some time,
we'll get to the NFL Draft.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
No, it's going to suck all the oxygen out of
everything everything. There's gonna be no room for anything else.
They're gonna they're gonna bump everything going on with the
royal family. That's gonna be in the lifestyle section. Wait
a minute, no one's sitting together at the coronation. Who
cares Lebron scored thirty seven and Clay's got thirty in
the first thirty seven. Shut up that said, that's gonna

(42:39):
be what it is. No one's gonna care about Harry
and Meghan Markle or or King Charles, and no one's
gonna care about that. Even Aaron Rodgers is a jet
is gonna be pushed away, going hey, come on, we
can see it throw passes at some other time.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
This is going to take everything over for the next
week week and a half now given to Givens. Aaron
Rodgers is showing up in all that royal nonsense. He's
just chopping up like damn Waldo at this point. So
he's just gonna show up and all of a sudden,
there he is smiling. These guys all didn't want to
come and perform, but Aaron Rodgers showed up to throw
a couple of passes to the game. But I did

(43:12):
read the New York Post today that supposedly Harry and
Megan are leading kind of separate lives.

Speaker 3 (43:18):
So who knows. That was kind of a given away.
Maybe Aaron Rodgers and Meghan Marta sitting together at the
next game. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (43:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
Just like Taylor Swift is allegedly hanging out with Fernando Alonso,
now really the f one drive, she's hanging out with
Pee Alonzo, not ped Alonzo.

Speaker 3 (43:37):
That's a better Story's got nothing to do. I mean,
she didn't perform in New York a little bit ago
and everything, but it's got nothing to do with the
polar ped A Lonzo is a better story. Say that instead.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
That's a better totally. The other one's a better story.
Chico Alonso may be a better story. Maybe wow, that's
ex leble. Anyway, the point be it never worked at Patlo.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Look at me, I look so sexy, you can see
my belly, and I'm making tackles on the field.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
I got traded for mccalking about but I.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
Was thinking about Taylor Swift dating pe Alonzo, and that's
pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
What I'm getting salty about is she's doing these secret
songs like you know, hey, here's your bonus. Towards the
end of a show. She's killed off like five of
my girl's favorite songs. Really, so unless they become part
of the rotation, by time she hits Los Angeles, we
had no songs and those girls are too pleased.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
Maybe she has a new song called polar Bear that
comes out pretty soon. Maybe she's gonna that's what it is,
and the Mets suck still.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
Polar Bear, polar Bear, polar Bear, polar Bear, reworking, shake
it off with the the white Frilly you know, sixties
go Go dress going on.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
Yeah, he hits home runs, she sings some songs.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
I think her new hit is has Ronald of Counya's
ball Land of the Get Oh Stop Stop.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
