We had a big night in the NBA so far,
still happening right now. The Sixers behind James Hard no
joelmb take Game one over the Boston Celtics, part of
James Harden's forty five point night, a big three with
eight seconds left to go being the big clincher for

(01:09):
the Sixers. Meanwhile, now you have the Nuggets trying to
take a two games to none lead in their series
over the Phoenix Suns. Look, I told you how much
I like the Suns, and boy, the Sons are playing
well as long as Kevin Durant is healthy. I really
really like the Suns is so far it has not
gone that way for me in this round, but it
is a you like two things in this round.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
You like the Suns and how much an explosive they are,
and you love yourself some. Jamal Murray, well his follow
up to that first game eighteen minutes, one for seven
from the field, zero for five to three point range.
Four points. All that's gonna be decided by the starters though.
Right now it's an eight to six advantage to the

(01:51):
Denver bench. That's right, eight six in terms of bench scoring.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Forty two forty Phoenix with the lead at halftime has
seventeen KD with nine Jokic leading the way for the Nuggets.
But again, we still have a full half to go.
Two point game at halftime. Now, you asked me after
Game one, how nervous am I about the Knicks? Oh,
it's a final. Extremely as much as I was, mister

(02:16):
calm cool, Hey, dude, We're gonna beat the crap out
of the Cavaliers. Everything is all good. None I have
flipped that. I am as nervous as I could be
because I'm mad. I can't remember the last time I've
been so mad over an outcome of the game, because
even without Julius Randall, they should have won Game one.
Jimmy Butler is hurt, he's a decoy at the end,

(02:38):
and the Knicks can't hit any shots, they can't hit
any threes. Jalen Brunson's not very good, and the heat
come in and they steal Game one when they should
never have won that game. Maybe mad like mad that
that result should have been mad. There's kind of like
a disappointed over games. I get upset at how a
team my team played, but I've never been mad. And
I was mad about that, and you would think, Okay,

(03:00):
that's gonna get me as men as a Hornets that's
going into game two. But no, Now Julius Randall and
Jalen Brunson are both questionable. See the point I made
last hour. That's why you don't thank you get in
the playoffs because you never know when people are gonna
get hurt, because people get hurt all the time. Now
this is it like this is the Knicks are looking
at They're going home if they lose tomorrow night. Jimmy

(03:20):
Butler might not play either, So it's gonna be one
of those. It could be one of those naturally televised
games with no stars because they're all resting. But the
whole series and the whole next season comes down to
Tomorrow Night. They may not have Randall, they may not
have Jalen Brunson, and they absolutely need Randal if they're
gonna win this series. Like as much as I've gone
from Hey, they can win without him in certain in

(03:41):
certain games the way they play, can't beat the heat
without him. You need somebody out there. That's a matchup different.
They don't have anybody that can guard him that he'd have,
nobody that can guard Julius Randall without it. You saw
what happened in Game one. Eric Spolster out coach Tom Thibodeau.
We're gonna make you try to make threes. You can't
do it, Okay, you can't go down low. We're not
gonna let you do it now. LEAs Randall comes in,
everything gets different. Defensive rotations have to change for Spolstra,

(04:06):
and it becomes much more difficult. But if he doesn't play,
like that's it. Even if Brunson comes back tomorrow and
Randall camp, but if he doesn't play, that's it. Randall
is the absolute key to the series. If he comes
back tomorrow and plays, then Knicks will win the series.
If he doesn't come back, it's gonna be over, and
it's gonna be over fast, like four gigets back.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
You're saying that he's the guy that just you win
just because he shows up tomorrow this series.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, he's Look what the Heat try to do defensively
is they're gonna try to They're gonna suck into the
paint and they're gonna make the Nicks beat you from
outside and the Knicks we don't have They don't have that.
I say we because I can't hit those shots, but
they don't have that kind of shooting. And you can
see what are they gonna shoot seven out of thirty
four from three point land again, I hope not, but
still they made them get out of their comfort zone

(04:51):
and the Knicks couldn't adjust. Now you bring Randall Beck,
who can step out in at one of those shots.
But also it's a lot tougher down low he makes
things different. No, certainly, it's a that's game change. That's it.
That's it for this series. Other teams can get by
without winning without a star. You saw tonight, Hey, we
got James Harden. They were able to.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Beat the Celtics a sixers. He's kind of a star,
Nick k Max, He's kind of a star. Yeah, And
I know Harden is not quite the star he was.
But Randall means much more to the Knicks than a
lot of stars do, just because so much of what
they do is predicated around moving the ball, moving it through.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Him and getting him shot.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
But either way, he's not coming back anywhere near one
hundred percent, right. It's it's the difficulty of this time
of year. We talk about many a weary minute in
the playoff. It's a much different atmosphere every possession unless
you throw the ball away as the Celtics did in
that final fifteen seconds for a wide open layup.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Uh that you're looking at.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Every possession becomes a grind down experience, not a lot
of quick shots, a lot of offensive effort, and we're
minutes on the body. So for Julius Randall, be curious
to see if he is able to come back in
game two. What kind of effectiveness level he's got. Does
it draw enough space to where maybe one of these

(06:14):
open shots falls. But if Brunson's not there, it becomes RJ.
Barrett against Kyle Lowry. If my guy, Jimmy Butler from
my Heat can't go. He had eighteen off the bench.
Theif scored your bench eighteen by himself.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
No, he didn't. Usually because that's the other thing.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Short rotations, right is where we're we're seeing in the playoffs.
Not that you don't expect that anyway, but watching what
we are tonight in the night camp of this one
Denver and Phoenix, not a lot of effort and minutes
being played by the bench, And certainly in that Heat
and Knicks game, yeah, you got a lot of minutes
between Martin and Lowry off the bench, but the scoring

(06:53):
coming from Lowry and the Knicks. If Randall's limited and
Brunson doesn't play, you're in for tough road here, pal, I'll.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Tell you be over and four. It'll be a four
game sweep. It's gonna be Look what happened because Julius
Randall got hurt. I mean that's what it's gonna be.
He doesn't come back, that's it, and we're done by
the best. I'm telling you, that's how it's gonna be. Now,
I'm glad.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Would you rather it be you're blaming Julius Randall for
the loss because he couldn't play or or turn back
the clock in his playoff disappearance two years ago.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I would rather that's tough. I would rather well, if
the Knicks lose because he stinks, it gives us more
to talk about than if the Knicks lose because they
don't have it. It's like, what are you gonna do?
I'm just talking for your fandom in your heart Okay, wait, wait,
ask me again in your heart of hearts, which is

(07:47):
more difficult to process?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
And where do you place more blame and angst? Randall
can't play because he's injured, and now you're questioning could
he have come back, could he have given us a
couple of good minutes? Or when he's stunk two years ago,
and you just were able to say, yeah, that's you.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
No more angst if he's stunk more, because the angst
of Julius Randall stinking from two seasons ago stayed with
me for a long time.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Everything else but the Mets weren't is sunny and shiny, No, no, not,
you know whatever your favorite picture was of the moment.
Because we have celebrated four day Man Harvey Day, like
we've bounced around.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, it never got to be Sure Day, but you
get my day Wednesday, Thursday, it's gonna be where the
Mets again now but for the Mets. But it's good
that we get to talk about Miami in the next
tonight because starting tomorrow there's gonna be no time for it.

This is because once the Warriors and Lakers begin, there
is room for nothing else. Every other playoff series looks
like it's an exhibition. Hey, there's a friendly going on
to Mark, isn't it Game four of the Suns? And yeah,

(09:15):
but nobody cares it's a friendly. We have the Warriors
and the Lakers. It's Lebron and Ad and Steph and
Clay and Draymond, and it's we're never gonna see this again,
or we have to act like and we have to
deal with the assumption that we're never gonna see a
playoff series like this again between the Lakers and the Warriors.

(09:36):
This may be it. It may be the last time
to see this incredible matchup. Of course, all of Lebron's
history is gonna be with the Warriors through Cleveland. But
still it's Lebron and the Warriors. I mean, there's no
room for anything else. This is taking it. So I'm
glad we had the NFL Draft. It would be hey,
Lakers Warriors, and if we have some time, we'll get
to the NFL Draft. No, it's going to suck all
the oxygen out of everything. Everything. There's gonna be no

(09:59):
room anything else. They're gonna they're gonna bump everything going
on with the royal family. That's gonna be in the
lifestyle section. Wait a minute, No one's sitting together at
the coronation. Who cares Lebron scored thirty seven and Clay's
got thirty in the first thirty seven? Shut up, that's
that's gonna be what it is. No one's gonna care
about Harry and Meghan Markel or or King Charles, and
no one's gonna care about that. Even Aaron Rodgers is

(10:22):
a jet is gonna be pushed away, going, hey, come on,
we can see him throw passes at some other time.
This is going to take everything over for the next week.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Week and a half now given to Givens, Aaron Rodgers
is showing up at all that royal nonsense. He's just
popping up like damn Waldo at this point. So he's
just gonna show up and all of a sudden, there
he is, smiling. These guys all didn't want to come
and perform, but Aaron Rodgers showed up to throw a
couple of passes to the game.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
But I did read the New York Post today that
supposedly Harry and Meghan are leading kind of separate lives,
so who knows. That was kind of a given away age.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Aaron Rodgers and Meghan Market are sitting together at a
next I don't know, I don't know, Just like Taylor
Swift is allegedly hanging out with Fernando Alonso. Now, really,
you f one drive, She's hanging out with Pee Alonzo,
not ped Alonso.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
But that's a better Story's got nothing to do I
mean she didn't before in New York and everything, but
it's got nothing to do with the polar ped Alonzo
is a better story. Say that instead. That's a better totally.
The other one's a better story. Chico Alonso may be
a better story. Maybe, Wow, that's ex level. Anyway, The
point be it never wore hit Pats Colonzo. Look at me,
I look so sexy. You can see my belly and

(11:34):
I'm making tackles on the field. I got traded for
Sean McCary. You're talking about too, But I was thinking
about Taylor Swift dating Pede Alonzo, and that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
What I'm getting salty about is she's doing these secret
songs like you know, hey, here's your bonus. Towards the
end of the show, she's killed off like five of
my girl's favorite songs.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Story really, so unless they become part of the rotation.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
By time she hits Los Angeles, we knows, and those
girls are pleased.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Maybe she has a new song called Polar Bear that
comes out pretty soon. Maybe she's gonna that's what it is,
and the Mets suck still. Polar Bear, Polar Bear, Polar Bear,
Polar Bear.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Reworking, shake it off with the the white frilly you
know sixties go go dress going on.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yeah, he hits home runs, she sings some songs. I
think her new hit is has Ronald of Kunya's ball
Land of the Get Oh stop stop stop.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
So yeah, the Lakers Warriors, because even go back to Friday,
every I mean it was day two of the draft.
We didn't talking about the draft. We were talking about
the Lakers closing out and beating down Memphis because they're back. Mike, Wow,
is that? And then we talked about the fact that
the Warriors no showed in Game six at home.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, and then oh.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Wait, the Kings did the same thing at games haven't
where you actually have Steph saying, like the beat.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
He's looking around. So he.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
And Giannis the two biggest phonies in sports. Oh they're
so nice and respectful. My ass does everything under the
subtext if he's smiling at you while he's staring daggers
at you, Hey, just don't ask him if the season
was a family when he started to get personal, and
then he realized, you're breaking characters.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
You're breaking character. You cannot show yourself. Was this I
do that again? Was the beam of failure was was
like the beam was a failure lighting the beam and
Steph oh come on now, Twitter it out about a Fresco.
Mike get swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up, we'll pick the Warrior

(13:42):
Laker series. Tell you who's walking into the Western Conference Finals.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Oh, I forgot about mister Unlimited. He's on the metal stands.
But keep mister mister. But I did leave it to
mister NBA.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Mister mister, mister, mister, mister, mister mister, mister, mister un Limited,
mister mister and TJ Kiri and okay, uh. Shopping for
tires can be well deflating, but like kind of like
me when I found that at Taylor Swift is not
dating Pete Alonzo. It's another guy named Alonzo, but not
at tire rack dot com. Maybe it's Alonzo Morning, Alonzo Morning,

(14:14):
No Alonzo Highsmith, Alonzos, Alonzo Alonzo. I'm out of Alonzos.
I'm out of Alonzo's now. I think Alonzo from Training
Day Alonzo. Oh yeah, you got you got that bath
dub ready? Yeah, shop in the Jake, look here a
little bit, get that bath dug going. But it's not
what you know, it's what you can prove. Wow, Iowa, Sam,

(14:38):
that was the fastest reaction to a segment with a
drop I think we've ever had. I think you said
a record that was like four point four seconds. It
was really good. From the mention of training day, do
you get in that drop? And I did that. You
didn't default to the can't call. Ain't got nothing on me.
I'm glad you didn't default that one way to ruin
the movie. By the way, did you know that it's

(14:59):
not actually Denzel people? Yeah, peoples calling around for like
screw You think he would have said something before me. Hey, sorry,

(16:02):
buying should be well. Coming up next, more of our
breakdown of what we liked and didn't like about the
NFL Draft. Oh, couple of teams I absolutely loved, very
specific things they did. Some teams not so much. It's
next right here, Jason and Mike Fox. Be sure to

(16:22):
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike

midway through the third quarter, KD with a big three
Sons have the six point lead over the Nuggets. They
try to keep this thing up series and send it
back to Phoenix at one game apiece, but still a
long way to go on this one. Earlier tonight we

(17:06):
watched the Sixers beat the Celtics, big time heroics from
James Harden. Will have more on that coming up in
a bit. But now that the NFL Draft is over
and you've seen, hey, who's the big winners, who's the
big lose? Like you've seen everywhere, right, there's certain things
now that the dust has settled and you can look
back at what went on over the last four days,
that are things that I loved what teams did direction

(17:28):
wise for different things, and I couldn't stand what teams did. Okay,
all right, So for instance, I'll kick it up full
of positivity. I'll kick you off of something. First, whatever
the Colts did after getting Anthony Richardson is irrelevant because
they did exactly what they had to do. And you know,
the Colts are wild cards. Hey guys, what do you
think should we go take Will Levis in the second round?

(17:49):
What do you tell stop? Get get Jim Rtze off
of Twitter. But Anthony Richardson provides identity and direction, and
that's what you want because for the last two two
and a half years, it was who are the Colts?
What are you really trying to do? We're masquerading as
a super Bowl team. We think we're a veteran quarterback away.
So it's Philip Rivers. Nope, not Philip Rivers. Okay, no,

(18:11):
it's Carson Wentz where Carson Wentz away? Nope, We're not
Carson Wentz. We're Matt Ryan away. Nope, We're not Matt
Ryan Away. And now you're not a good team and
your window is closed. I feel bad for Jonathan Taylor.
He's going to run the next couple of years and
a little bit of obscurity. But what you did was
you energize the fan base and you put your team
in the direction saying this is who we are. He's
our guy, he's our franchise player. And sometimes there's a

(18:34):
lot to be said for at least having that base
of knowing who your identity is. It's this guy. May
take him a little while, right, it may not be
the starter right away, but we have identity, we have direction.
Whatever the Colts did besides that irrelevant. They got the
guy they needed. They got the guy that's going to
sell tickets with the highest ceiling of any quarterback. That
was a great move. I like what I mean.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
They did what the Titans did as well, the two
teams combining to select three north Western guys. So positivity there.
But you can't just like that because they take Northwestern
all just do that? No, but what I can, But
you can't. You can't just do that though. Is it
anything any different than any other jackasses done?

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Oh Aaron Rodgers, No, jet, this is the greatest day
in the world. Sure, well, there you go, Okay, I
mean guys have made full shows on it. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah.
So I can do what I like. I can make
it my own thing here. Yeah. You know, whenever Hal
got drafted, I went yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. When
Attaba Warri got drafted. I went, yeah, yeah, I'm just

(19:37):
thinking of Aaron Rodgers. Still, I'm not thinking of your legitimately, right,
you take four. I mean they had a lot of picks.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
That's the other thing that that the Colts had at
their disposal is that they shored up a lot of pieces,
a bunch of offensive linemen work in the secondary. You
look over at Tennessee and yes, obviously they take uh
Scronsky with their first but the bigger thing is they
went all offense. So it's like, all right, we're gonna

(20:03):
match up. You're looking down in Jacksonville and you're seeing
what Doug Peterson and what Trevor Lawrence and company have done.
Calvin Ridley's coming off his suspension, right, He's gonna be
back and remember what he was once upon a time
in Atlanta. So it's like, all right, how do we
match up Indianapolis a lot of defensive players early now
there's a mix of offensive linemen and a bunch of

(20:23):
other things to shore up the roster as all, but
early on it's defense. We're gonna fight you, and we're
gonna meet you at the path for Tennessee, Like, all right,
we're gonna we're gonna lean into the offensive side of
the ball here, Mike Rabel zagging when you would think
he was going to zig and again beefing up your
own line.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
And as of now, Derek Henry hasn't been dealt. No,
But that's right now.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
There's a lot of things that can go on right Arizona.
For as much as they've pushed away the idea that
Baker or DeAndre Hopkins are gonna get dealt, tomorrow's another day.
I mean, you still have people in the building. You know,
they got to slap on the risk because of the
tampering nonsense, illegal contact and Philly fans all that he

(21:10):
wasn't committed to this again and everything. But he didn't
meet with the press like they was the whole trap Pard.
He didn't answer a single question about anything. So you
still have potential chaos there.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Right.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Even in Buffalo, they now add Latavius Murray curious, curious,
but not a guy push into like a high level
running back. It's a guy who shows up and has
a game or two, like we were talking about James
Harden earlier in the show, right, Like you can get

(21:43):
a couple of big games out of him. But that
third one, the third week in a row, are you
getting it?

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Probably not?

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Probably not, which means whoever is left on the roster
with him is going to need to roll up. But
I like the AFC South shaking up, so they can't
just be the regional me nobody wants to watch.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Oh Jack's firepower. Boy, we're gonna get that biggest gamble
that I like. Okay, the Falcons going all in on
Desmond Ridder like they have spent the entire offseason saying
he's our guy and everybody else spend to the title.
Now come on, but really, who do you like?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Now?

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Come on? Who's gonna be your quarterback? Now? Are you
gonna go out try to trade for more? No? No,
we like Desmond Ridder? Yeah no, I know, but come on,
but come on to me. Really, you're gonna get somebody else, right,
he's not gonna be doing No. No, we like Desmond Ridder.
They have gone all in on surrounding him with all
kinds of talent. Right, they have three really good running backs, right,
you have hopefully Kyle Pitts are returned to form. You
have a lot of weapons there, and you open Drake

(22:40):
London really breaks through this year. You have a lot
of young weapons and you're entrusting it all to a
guy who are you really sure about him? You can't
say you are. I mean, I like what I saw.
You know, he had four starts basically at the end
of last year, and what I got to see of him,
I kind of like. He didn't turn the football over,
no interceptions in four games. That's pretty good. And he moved,

(23:01):
you know, he got better every game. The best game
was his final game of the season, which you know,
teams are playing with different levels of intensity, but you're
playing that last game against Tampa, who was Hey, we
got the division title, everything else going on. So I'm
okay with the gamble. But but boy, it doesn't mean
it's not a It doesn't give me a lot of
pause going because you just put a lot of weapons
around a guy where you're hoping that he's the guy.

(23:23):
You know, he wasn't somebody that was a top five
pick as a quarterback. He's someone, Hey, we really like
him a lot. Okay, you better. I mean, like I said,
I'm good with it because I like what he showed
at the end of last year. But boy, that's a
really big gamble.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah, I'd look at and we we talked a lot
about Houston, which is why I didn't put them in
the AFC South Conversation. You can find the podcast of
what we did round one last week downloaded. Give it
five starts wherever you get your audio. We'll love you forever.
Mother's Days coming up. Give out the iHeartRadio link for
our show. I mean, it's the best give you can get.
And get one of those cool cards that you know

(23:55):
has a pop up of Jason and my face and
then here's the link. It's a gift that keeps giving.
Or you can go to the Broadway channel. And we
said gift, not gift or jiff No, I said gift.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
You know tedday. Some people say call it gold gift
if they didn't look Yeah. Anyway.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
The other thing a little bit on the Seahawks right now,
whether Witherspoon's the guy that you go get.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
He's an interesting story.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
He didn't play high school to play football till late
in high school, and now he rises from an Illinois
program that actually had a number of guys drafted this
time out right, So the program finally turning its turning
it on its head.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
But when we look at adding another member to the
secondary but then still still being able to come back
at twenty and getting Jackson Smith and Jigba to add
to that receiving cores Gino Smith, we might be doing
a lot more.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
I told you the first the first day of the draft.
I like the Raiders right into the first two days.
I love what the Raiders did. I might like what
the Seahawks did a little bit more. You got four
impact players in the first two rounds, and you you
clearly know we need to get better. Right. This is
a team that was pretty good offense, pretty good defensively.
It's not like, well we were great on defense. We

(25:12):
need offense, No, you still need to continue to improve.
You help the offense in the first round, you help
the defense in the first round, second round. I may
like the Seahawks draft the most out of anybody.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Got some of those picks back they grabbed because you
came back, and you get McIntosh in the seventh, big
wild card.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
But a guy that was at Georgia, well, one thing
given you you know one thing in Seattle. You know
your running backs will get hurt, so you need to
make sure, okay.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Which is there, like he's healthy enough, he's gonna pass
the physical you want him.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
You know, they have a lot of weapons to each other.
About three really good receivers. This is a I mean
they're interesting. They added to their defensive front. I mean
they're They did a lot of good things, and we
talked about it last year with their draft, you had
a number of impact players. Obviously, Gino was a guy
we didn't know if he was gonna win the job.
Talked about it a lot, right there was Drew Locke

(26:06):
and Pete Carroll did a good job of politics and
talking out of both sides of his mouth in terms
of who we liked. But Gino comes out and plays
really well. But you had a number of players from
that twenty twenty two draft that were impact guys. And
it went back to once they exorcised or excised Russell
Wilson from the building, they went back to the guys

(26:27):
that used to draft. It was almost like they were
able to pull out the old whiteboard. Whatever they did
that worked in twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, and twenty fourteen
and went back to that identity of the players that
they were looking to build this team around. Guys with
a little bit of a chip on their shoulders. Guys
that felt like they were underdrafted, all right, Jackson Smith

(26:49):
and Jigma even at twenty right, that's still seven or
eight slots than he was on most mock drafts. Also,
and if he had a healthy senior year, as he
going in the top but he going in the top seven.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Course, So so you go through all that, it's just
good to see Schneider and Carol back to drafting and
crafting their team and that image and the fact that
we get to say Gene, oh, Gen no, and I
get to hold up pictures of him as a Jet
once upon a time.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
It's good man. I'll tell you, Seattle they really got
I mean they might. They might have my favorite them
and the Raiders probably have my two favorite drafts. Now,
you just love the Raiders. I do. I I want
to say good things about them because they're no never
I'm going to go back out this again. Is that
what you're thanking? When the Jets are in the Super Bowl? Yeah,
we're gonna be out there in Vegas. Is there anything

(27:35):
nice to say about them? I like their draft, That's
what it is. I like the draft, and I like
the city poop fest. Wow, look at you a draft. Yeah,
city's great. Yeah yeah. And you know you got to
see Gabe from the office when we were out there
doing shows during the Super Bowl. Oh hey, Gabe, I
thought he was gonna come and murder you. Uh. That's
a long line, Mike. Now I get in line. Take

(27:58):
a number for the last thing. Let's stay in the
Nancy West and talk about the champs because the Chiefs
Chargers didn't do sorry you mean yeah, the Chiefs didn't
do a lot to help out their offensive situation. Right.
They didn't get any wide receivers. Honestly, it doesn't matter
because look at what happened last year. They said goodbye
to Tyreek Killen. They won the Super Bowl. Right, So

(28:20):
I mean, it's what what what do you What are
you gonna do? I have to say, I told you, so,
what are you gonna do? You bring in, you make
it work for a year with Juju Smith Schuster, and
suddenly then Kadarius Tony comes in and how are you
winning with these pieces opportunities? And it's it's fifteen catches
for one hundred and eighty five yards and two touchdowns
for Travis Kelcey every week but you are just sprinkling

(28:43):
it around to the rest of the wide receivers. So
what happened? Am I worried that you? Oh no, mccol harden.
I mean I like the type of Jets got him.
McCall Hartman's gone Smith Schuster, but doesn't matter. They're going
to replace They replace him with guys who are gonna
catch passes, and and sky Moore is gonna play a
little bit more. Maybe Justin Ross is healthy. You know,
he's worked a lot with Patrick Muon. Remember he would
have been a first round pick up. He didn't get
hurt the last couple of years in college. He was

(29:05):
hurt last year. So I am not worried at all
because Kansas City remade their offensive system last year and
it worked and they got to do it again. Okay,
I'm gonna trust Andy Reid and Mahomes that they know
what they're looking for in wide receivers. They can make
it work. So, yeah, they didn't bring in any wide receivers.
You would think, oh, they need to do it, they
need to do it. No, they don't. They'll be just fine.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Yeah, they brought in one guy, right, Rashi Rice. That's it, right,
second round otherwise left it alone. Bring in more pieces
for your defense. Obviously, there's always the question, as I
do after every draft and going in every season, I
want to make sure I got five guys up right,
particularly when I've got so much money invested, and I
know how important Patrick Mahomes is.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Like, there are some.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Teams where obviously you've got a number one quarterback, but
maybe you've got a system you've got personnel to where okay,
they can dip right. We watch it with San Francisco,
and it's not to say that we go into the
rock party if which is what it's being called. Your Hey,
let's keep drafting quarterbacks. But the idea that you run

(30:05):
an organization to where a next man up thing can happen,
most organizations haven't had that. They think of all those
years Charger didn't do anything behind rivers. Pittsburgh had a
guy that just held a clipboard behind Ben Roethsberger, and
then occasionally we'd have to go in for one play
when he was injured, and then he'd see any level
of success and he'd sprint back on the field.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
So you had all that you didn't address it. Now
you do.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
But the offensive line is always the thing to watch,
and we watched it with the Chiefs a couple of
years ago when Mahomes was running five hundred yards sideline
to sideline. So that's really the one thing that needs
to be locked in, locktight otherwise at wide receiver or
tight ends. In addition to Travis Kelce, next man up.
As long as they fit the suit, they'll fit the system.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Twitter and how about a fresca Mike gets swollen down

Fusco show world Right now, we all.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Know you sick and tired of these stupid sports shows
where the hosts say stupid things like Tom Brady's the Goats.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Or Lebron James is good at basketball, which he is
clearly not. See, we give you smart takes.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah, and we also bring on so called famous guests
from across the sports world and show them why we
know much more than they do.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
You're off the show.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Listen to the Fally and Toni Fusco Show on the
I Hot Radio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get
your podcast.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
This song makes me want to fight every time I
hear Rocket Queen. Now it makes you want to fight.
I want to go do Jerry Oke. I mean, this
is like an eight minute song, so would get on
people's nerves. But now when I was doing it, dominating
the floor, this is so menacing, very very menacing. Shorts

(32:37):
Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Phoenix, Leaves, Denver,
seventy three seventy early in the fourth quarter. We'll have
more in this game coming up in a few minutes.
But as we said tomorrow, when the Lakers play the Warriors,
there's gonna be room for nothing else in the sports world. Lebron,
a D Steph Clay Draymond. It's gonna be absolutely insane.

(32:57):
Mooney and uh am I on sorry, it's not live
Draft Friday. Uh And I'm taking the Lakers, and I'm
taking the Lakers in six Look at that, and I'm
not going to take them because I think Lebron is
gonna have a way back machine playoff. Why is he
taking a prosperg. I really wish he wasn't say it.

(33:20):
I really wish he wasn't saying the Lakers are the
Lakers are tough to say when picking them. Lakers are
the Lakers are back. No, it's not about Lebron's going
to score. You know, average triple double or a D
is going to be a forty and twenty guy every night.
Everybody has talked a lot. You've heard a lot the
last couple of days about what the Lakers can do

(33:41):
and what the what the Warriors. But this is going
to be one defensively, and it's going to be one
by the Lakers, because that's the one thing we don't
talk enough about. The big change of Lakers made it
the deadline. Yes, they figured out their offense, everybody's got roles,
but defensively they became one of the best teams in
the league. And this is not a Warriors team it's

(34:02):
gonna run up and down the floor on you and
exhaust you anymore. This is a team that is clearly
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson driven, and that's it, all right.
This is not Hey Wiggins can burn you guy, Drayma. No,
this is Steph and this is Clay and the Lakers
can defend and defend the perimeter. Watch out. Lakers. Defense

(34:24):
is what wins this series for them. You're gonna see
score lower scores and you're gonna it's gonna be close.
I'm not saying it's good, but it's not gonna be hey,
one thirty four, one sixteen. You're gonna see the Warriors
score less points and the Lakers be able to pull
this out because defensively, they're gonna be able to do
what they want to Know, it's good.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
We've talked about the defense a lot the rating since
the All Star break, and certainly post trade deadline down
the stretch and watching what Memphis couldn't do in the
last series.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
That's all funny good. It's a different animal here. Jordan Poole, as.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Much as he's in the doghouse, you got one or
two games in the series that I would expect him
to have some impact. Get Draymond Green not the score
that perhaps, and contributed that way frequently anymore. But add
the rebounding prowess of what Looney's been able to do.
He'll neutralize Davis on the board. I mean, he'll out
muscle him. I mean, we talked about Davis versus the

(35:17):
Bonus in the last round. Not exactly a battle of
the Titans down low in terms of their physicality. They
didn't want any part of it. But I'm looking at
Steph Curry, I'm looking at Klay Thompson. Uh to have
a big series. I got Warriors in six.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
No, look at you, just wait, just wait.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
You know what prosperg likes me more that I make
that pick, then I.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Think he hates both of us. He hates me because
I picked it, because he thinks I'm trolling them, and
he hates you because you picked against them accurate. He
is like like both of you, you.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Know what, equal opportunity hate something we try to uh
foster here it.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
So I got the Lakers in six, Mike has the
Warriors in six. Twitter at how about a prescot us
are bowling coming up next? We get back into the
drama of the night in the NBA, all surrounding James
Harden and a game that shows you why teams should
stop tanking in the NBA. Wait, what that's next?
