(00:51):
I want to say something that I don't know if
I should say it, because I think you guys are
gonna wind up finding a way to cheat. But you're
never gonna Guess who's just started tweet crazy about the
Warriors and the Lake And you know.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
It takes on extra special significance and well we we
get the extra emotion when Steve de Seger's in for
for that.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean he is like it was
like boom, but it's like rapid fire.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
He had a lot to say in a two burial.
He had to rush to his computer. Well maybe he
was just told about Hey how did the game end?
Lakers lost by twenty seven? All right, hey can you tweet?
Can I tweets some stuff out?
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Right now it's actually him because I mean the writers
are on strikes, so oh.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, it might actually Bett, it might actually be Man.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
Or is that a chat GBT Magic?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
You know, what if? What if I'm just thinking about
this for a second, This just hit me. What if
this entire time Magic Johnson's tweets have been entirely AI.
What if that's what it's been like? Because what yeah,
then every other they would have practice in it. No, no,
like like like no, it's it's artificial intelligence. Like you
get now with with with all these different things that
(02:01):
come out so and so speaking in an artificial intelligence voice.
So you gotta know, what what if it was completely AI?
Everything that Magic Twitter account does, it's all AI. They
aggregate around and from what the internet and.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Is what he says because the stuff is.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Really I mean, it's really boiler plate and you know
vanilla stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Because I've always wanted to go sit in one of
these speeches. Right when he says he's talking to a
rotary club or you know, young entrepreneurs or whatever it is.
I want to hear what those speeches sound like, because
I can't imagine they take the same vein. Oh boy,
there's got to be some more specificity. I mean, not
that it's not cheerleading and trying to rally folks and all.
(02:39):
But of course now it sounds like I'm disparaging the
good name of magic.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
I'm just curious.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It's great to be here in front of all of you. Remember, you,
young people are the future. All the things you hear
like your college graduation. Oh you young people, you're the future.
You're the Oh I gotta say I didn't get except
for you, you and you you're cool.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
No.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
No, I had the worst speaker my college graduation. She
made we had. I still can't believe this to this
day that this is my speaker. We had a new
chancellor who said I'm gonna take a chance, like you know,
you know, we paid a lot of money at this school.
Might be syracuses like when I graduated was like twenty
five grand here now it's like eighty grand a year.
We paid a lot of money. Man get some, but
(03:22):
get a big name here to come and tell us
the story. Instead we had the woman who started Teachers
for America, which like, okay, that's great. Is she a
good speaker?
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Can she? But you know, can you talk?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
That's one of those ways you could have defrayed some
of your loans if you sign up after a speech, right.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Yeah, hey, I'm going to talk to you about signy.
Here you go speaking folk.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
They got the notes up saying hey, get ready to
start repaying those loans that have been on a hold
for three years come September.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
And all she did was tell a story about how
she started Teachers for America. I'm like, you know, Teach
for America is great, and a couple people my family
actually did it for it. I know people who did
it for a couple of years. They they have great
stories about it. But I'm like, what what do I
I'm not here for a history lesson.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
I'm graduate.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I just spent four years drinking a lot of beer
and trying to get to college and classes at least
fifty percent of the time. You gotta tell me something
that's gonna entertain me. Here instead, it's a story about
and I called Ross Perot for money, and Ross Perot
gave me money, and I'm.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Like, what the what? What?
Speaker 1 (04:22):
What?
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Why are you giving me your Did you follow up
and ask if there was any money?
Speaker 6 (04:27):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Thrown into the kiddy by Admiral Stockdale. I tell you, Admiral,
that was when you stood silent for ten minutes. That
was beer a genius.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
But I'm wanting to going, we really we couldn't get
We couldn't get Dave Bing, you know we could we
couldn't get.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
We couldn't get at least seven they might have already
used him. I mean, you gotta remember you can't recycle
a guy that fast.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Sure you can. I didn't go to any other graduation.
I just went to mine. I wasn't a serial graduation
goer where I'm.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Gonna go to this one and this one and this
one and this one. No, you got a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Here's a speech, and I remember going, I'm not even
paying it to I don't really care.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
What what? What? What is this? All my friends? Who'd
you get?
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
We had George Bushaw, we had Mike Piazza, we had this,
we have I'm like, who did you have the woman
who started? Teachers from America And that's it. I'm saying.
It's such a low voice, so I'm like, yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
I just said the woman who started. That's funny. Well,
you know Walkway. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I remember looking at the list of mine because I
didn't remember mine, and uh I.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Don't Julia, Louis Dreyfus, David Shwimmer.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
No, No, they would have just been They would have
been recently graduated at that point. They weren't that part.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Know, Julia Louis Dreyfus, in the mid nineties, you'd been
in the height of sign Feld. I know you had
it there, But Schwimmer wasn't that far removed at that Well,
he would have been on Friends when you graduated, just started. Yeah,
but Friends was a big hit.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Ah, but at that point it was still and Shwimmer
was never the guy from the.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
New show Friends. Here's the guy who plays I'm sorry
you played Chad Ross Ross from Friends.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Everybody Ross from Friends? Hey Ross Ross. Yeah. See, now
I'm trying to go through the list to see who
I am.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Go see the pall bearer out in theaters.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
This fright nicely. There you go, now you're going back
in there. No, so nineteen ninety five, this is why
I don't remember. It was the guy that became the president,
Henry Beaning. Like they didn't even go outside the building.
He just walked down the street. Now you do, but
get this the next year?
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Right now? What are you doing right now? Nothing? Can
you come give a speech?
Speaker 1 (06:23):
We'll pay you like twenty grand.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
You know, we forgot that.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
We forgot to send out the request to people, and
their publicists are saying they can't make it on short notice.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Can you just walk down the street for us?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Put on a different time maybe the next year, Robert
Redford and you'll love this nineteen ninety seven, it says revoked.
Guess who was the speaker that year?
Speaker 5 (06:45):
You were? No Charlton Heston. I'm still in good stead.
No Charlton Heston.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
While I mean he had people mad at him because
he liked guns, he didn't do anything to get draw
the complete public eyre laying out like no, no, now
that would have.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Been a fun speech.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
No is Bill Cosby and now stuff followed by Ruth
Bader Ginsburg.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
That's right, about the things that you said.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
No, see, because I'm looking at Syracuse's list after I graduated,
Bill Clinton, Felicia Rashaw, Jane Goodall, Billy Joel, Frank McCourt,
Joe Biden, Aaron Sorkin, I come on.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Man, later on, I mean Scott Tureau in two thousand
and one, Ophion, Tom Brokaw, John McClinton McCain two.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Thousand and six. John McLean came to speak. Yeah, I
wanted to say John, he said, Johnny Kaye. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Julia Louise Dreyfus did it the general in two thousand
and seven. But between McCain and Julia Luis Dreyfus was
Barack Obama.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Oh yeah, okay, you say big names, you have big names, big.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Names, except I had the president I know my school.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah yeah, yeah, the president of your school. Yeah, just
Sammar Salad good Ones, Wilke Wait, Mike Wilbon. Really it
wasn't Wilbond and Cornhiser. They didn't do like the speech
opposite each other. Because that's what I'd like to say now.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Colebert in twenty eleven, I may just be brishn to
cough in twenty thirteen, Oh.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
My God, macal Berishnikoff cheez like that. That's unbelievable. Cheth
Meyers twenty sixteen.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah whatever, Billy Jean King, Mommy Lane, because you remember,
you got a lot of folks that came through and
they went to graduate school at Northwest.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Did Laine Bennice ever do one says that two thousand
and seven seven? Okah seven seven?
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Uh The Chase the Smith Show with Mike Harmon Livethtirec
dot Com Studios. Warriors beat the Lakers one twenty seven
to one hundred tonight, and it wasn't a night to
remember for Anthony Davis, a night where he goes five
out eleven from the floor eleven points. Already, everybody on
social media is blaming Anthony Davis this. It is one
(09:01):
of those times where you go, oh man, it just
doesn't pay to be a D.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
It doesn't pay to be a no matter.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Whenever the Lakers lose, it's a d's fault and damn
AD or trade a D or blame ad one of
those three things trends on Twitter, and I'm sure we're
just seconds away from it now because oh, the Lakers
lost by twenty seven. Let's just go blame Anthony Davis
because we want to blame anyway because it's.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
All his fault.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
It's a D's fault, like sometimes I get where guys
can't win, and he's in a situation where every game
he plays well, it's he should play this well every game,
and so he's a top five player, he's supposed to
do this every damn night. Every game's gotta be a
thirty and twenty game. And still people are going, yeah,
I'll say he's played great, but I'm just waiting to
(09:44):
pounce on that next game where he's eleven and seven.
Come pounce on that and say, I can't believe that
happens to U A d. So as much as Anthony
Davis has not realized this full potential, because he is
someone who throughout his career has gotten by on his
physical gifts, and yeah, a lot of players can have
(10:05):
great careers doing that. But if you bring a little
bit extra to the party, hey, you can be an
absolute legend. And we've seen it from Ad when he
had decides, Okay, I'm more than just a big body
that can get outside, run up and down the floor
and shoot threes and make blocks. I can be more
than that. When you see that, it's you know, it's awesome,
you know, but there's still part of me where it's like, boy,
I get that where no matter what he does, it's
(10:27):
never enough because he could play great thirty six games
in a row, but that thirty seventh game, if he
stinks thirty seventh, shut up, it's that thirty seventh. Oh
now you can't trust him, can't do it. So yeah,
just for a second, not that you know, I feel
weird about just sitting here defending Anthony Davis, But there
is a lot to be said where it is difficult
(10:47):
at times where no matter what he does, it's never
gonna be enough. And he could have a great series here,
beat the Warriors all by himself, get to the Western
Conference finals and shut down Nikoli Jokic and get to
the NBA Finals, and they could lose to the finals
in seven against the Knicks, and if he has twenty
points in game seven, it's gonna be there's ad falling
(11:09):
short again. I mean, that's how it will.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
But that's heavy. Is the head that wears the crown.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I mean, that's where we're at when you're putting the
guy and the elite air Remember we were talking about
him long ago in New Orleans, top five guy, and
look what he can do. And then you go out
and have a game one like he did where he's
dominant from pillar to post. Now, the offensive numbers were
smaller in the second half. Right had a huge first
half and then they coasted Lebron. Misshots down the stretch,
(11:37):
all of those things that came to bear. But they
get the victory, succeed and proceed. But the poison pens
always out there. Right, Lebron's gonna wear it today, and
you're gonna have articles and you're gonna have talking heads
in the morning about how he spent more time complaining
with the referees than playing after that blistering early start
(11:57):
because he only finished with twenty three and nineteen at
the half. Right didn't have a whole lot of input
at all in that third quarter and the start of
the fourth to four operation shutdown happened. But with Anthony Davis,
that's just the weight that comes through and it played
out exactly as we talked about well. Game one to
Game two for James Harden, huge game against the Celtics.
(12:20):
They rode his forty five points. Game two, he was broke.
Shot from the outside, wasn't falling two to fourteen. Eight
of his twelve points came via the free throw line
in a Celtics romp. Same thing here. Expecting big back
to back efforts. You're hoping for it, you're wishing for it.
Frostburg was hoping for it. But we watched Ad and
(12:41):
Lebron with all those heavy minutes in Game one, not
that the Warriors had a whole lot of time to
rest like that. Logic fails because well, they played forty
eight hours ago too, and had played forty eight hours
prior to that. But still with Ad and the number
of weird heavy minutes that are there, you're waiting to
see Kenny answer the bell. In this case, he didn't
(13:03):
have a Looney harassing him for a good chunk of time.
Now was the ultimate and agitators and Draymond Green love
to hear his thoughts of what he what that difference
meant with Looney ill and coming in off the bench
instead of starting the game. You saw Draymond on him immediately,
and like him or hate him, he's one of the
great agitators you and I have known in our sports
broadcasting careers and certainly watching the NBA all these years,
(13:27):
and to take it a step further, he's going to
the bodium. He's got his kids with him, so you
know it's gonna be a yuckfest coming up here of yeah,
we got this one, we got where, we got him
right where we want him, and Anthony Davis hikes the
poison pen. He's lucky that. I mean, there's a bunch
of people wondering what else is falling out from the
WWE draft, even on a Thursday night, because the Miz
(13:49):
and a bunch of other guys are trending as much
as he is.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Why now tell me about this? They're still what is this?
I think drafting every day? This is more longer than
the NFL draft.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
No, so they do it over the couple weeks, right,
because you have shows on Friday and Monday, and then
tomorrow is smacked down again on Fox Big Fox with
with the coverage there.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
So you're still draft a draft. I think it's I
think it'll land tomorrow. You think you don't even know
what it's gonna end now, Mimi, because you could keep
doing this forever. Now, we're just gonna keep drafting guys.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Is gonna come back from the dead.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Well and you never know.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
I mean, because you're bringing back bringing people up from
WWE NXT, right from the developmental part of things, and
and trying to get new new bodies and new storylines started.
This is why you're mixing things up, create some new
rivalries and storylines heading into WrestleMania forty forty next year.
(14:44):
So all of those things. But yeah, it's great. If
you could do the NFL draft and make it viable
for a week. You don't think then NBA or the
NFL would do that. Hell, the NBA would do anybody
would do that.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
If you can get people to watch for a full week,
Hell yeah they would.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
Hey, Jason, speaking of bring people back from the dead,
who was the first person played Thompson embraced after the game?
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Jessica Alba, Oh that guy that got kicked out? Nope?
Speaker 8 (15:09):
Sam Donald?
Speaker 5 (15:11):
No, was he really? Yeah? No?
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I mean because we saw the kit and Donald.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Is there no one Smith? Who else? Spider Man?
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Front and center? Holland and Zendia Tom Holland was that
I did not see that Spider Man. I got so
much more run than die, right, Endia? She I heard
her pronounce it, so Oh my god, I'm seeing the
video right he did go over and tap up with
uh with Sam Don and Sam Darning. Hey, hey, Clay,
(15:47):
can you come over and just dap Sam draw dude,
he's the backup. All right, fine, up, I'll go over
and do it.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Just follow whatever. That's fine. How long do you have
to talk to him for? Not long?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
It's like like ten seconds, fifty All right, fine, we'll
do it.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
All right, Rostbury.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Yeah, more games, Sam Donald and the forty nine ers
or Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
Speaker 8 (16:04):
It's easy, Sam Donald, Man, stop stop, you wish you
still had?
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Sam said, really yeah, really? Well wait as a backup
over Zach Wilson, Yes.
Speaker 8 (16:15):
This wait till Rogers hits the layup line like KD.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
Jepson Live for the Tireck dot Com Studios.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
What do you got Tight Shirt? Question?
Speaker 9 (16:34):
Do you think Blink one eighty two should be a
Hall of Fame?
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Ban o?
Speaker 5 (16:39):
Blink one eighty two? No Blink one eighty two is.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Haull of very good whoa Hall of But here's but
here's where we start to get into the question marks
of who's you know, who's are going to be the gatekeepers?
Because look, we're just now getting Willie Nelson in at
ninety and those are people our age.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
And older that are kind of looking at these things.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
How do we move the the the needle, because I mean,
you're talking about a band that sold over fifty million albums, right,
just like Nickelback the bottom.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Stop stop, stop stop.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
If Jason Cole's in charge, everybody's getting in. That's true.
Everybody is just build another wing.
Speaker 9 (17:19):
Is Nickelback in though?
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Yeah? I think they are.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Actually I don't know that they are. Yeah, I think
they are awesome. I think I feel let me say,
hang on, I don't think so.
Speaker 8 (17:27):
The Mats Hall of very crappy lock roll Hall. Well,
they have more hits this year than the Mets do
Wait a minute, Oh no, no.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
No, no, hang on, Nickelback not in the Hall of.
Speaker 8 (17:40):
Fame or hits Nickelback or the Mets.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Nickelback stop. Nickelback not in the Hall of Fame. Yeah,
if you if you google Nickelback rock and Roll Hall
of Fame. The first matches, Nickelback is not in the
Hall of Fame, and then the next matches Nickelback can
seede they'll never make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
That's savage. I was actually gonna read that went.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
But you know, you know what, Nickelback's gonna need the
Veterans Committee to let them in after all of their
uh eligibility is waste outs Like, ah, let's just put
come on, no way, Creed's not getting it.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
I meant the Boxer, no way.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
No.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Oh, well the movie, yeah, the movie.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
I heard the third one was bad. Now that guy
got canceled. I haven't even Michael the other guy.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
I heard I had seen a number of people seen.
They were not fans. No, no, I've not seen every
horrible movie.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
I've not seen. I swear I've not seen it.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
You guys want to go out and see Grood after
the show? I am groot. No, I'm looking forward to
seeing that this week.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
I've heard it's an unbelievably great horror movie, and I've
heard it's really dark and sad, and I'm like, wait, what,
like all these.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
Things that make me what's a horror movie.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
No, not a horrid like it's it's it's no, it's
it's one of the best movies in a while, Marvel movies.
And then I've heard that, Oh it's really dark and
sad and it's very difficult.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
I'm like, wait, what what?
Speaker 1 (19:01):
What?
Speaker 5 (19:02):
Look at these?
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Is this the same movie or it's like fake stuff
going out there that people want to put out there
just to have something different.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Well, I just sum it up this way. I am groot.
How about Evil Dead Rises? Who's with me?
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:15):
No, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
I can wait for that. I can wait for that. Now.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
I can wait for you. You know. I only have one
more week to wait, and then I can watch that
show about the gym shoes, that movie that came out
a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Okay, Now, the Lakers lose to the Warriors one twenty
seven to one hundred. Lebron and A d have met
the media. Let's take a listen to see what they
had to say about the game two loss.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Let's go to that nowhere kind of uh I got
away from.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Us, Lebron.
Speaker 10 (19:47):
You've seen them go on crazy runs in games and
all your battles with them. What's sort of the key
to to not letting those build and stack and how
do you kind of have to combat that?
Speaker 11 (20:00):
Uh, you gotta keep scoring. Uh, get to the free
throw line as well, or just get points in the paint.
You know they're gonna go on runs, that's what they do,
you know, But you gotta keep scoring trying to hold
the foward down obviously, you know. But you give credible
credits due they played exceptionally well tonight and we did
and uh the series is tied one one, So that's
(20:23):
where we're at about.
Speaker 12 (20:25):
You guys have been one of the best defensive team
in the league over the last month plus. But the
teams you played in the league, you know, the Wars
are pretty unique the way they play compared to the
rest of the league, you know, with their personnel and
continuing and all that. So what do you think it
will take to make your defense shine as much as
it has against this specific team.
Speaker 11 (20:46):
We're still that doesn't change. We're still want the best
defensive team in the league. If not one of them, yeah,
we hang our hats on. But like I said, you
get credible credits due Clay with spectacular night and Dre
mom was great in the pocket past with the roles
and things of that nature. You know. So Jamichael gave
him a big time and it's those you know, those
(21:07):
twelve minutes felt like, you know, twenty four minutes, thirty minutes.
He was a big time Forli for entertainmentte starting roll
tonight too. So you give a credit, like I said,
what credit is doing. We move on to the next game.
But our defense is where we That's where we hang
our hat, burn the tap, you know, and that doesn't
stop no matter who we're playing against.
Speaker 13 (21:26):
How did you how do you guys feel? Obviously neither
of you played in the fourth quarter. Did you come
out of this thing all right? And did you feel
that you can tested their three pointers enough in this game?
Obviously they're a great shooting team, but they made a
lot of threes.
Speaker 11 (21:39):
We feel great and we we yes, we contested threes.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Yeah, I don't know about that. Yeah, I like that answer,
speed it.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Well, you know what really bugged me though, the question
are like, you know what if you're going to lean
into you, you're a paper champion.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
They were a hand picked they were bums.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Let's go with our and Creed analogies as long as
we can. It's like I fight nobody any good. You
all hand picked. The schedule was pretty soft down the stretch.
I think that's what the reporter was implying there with
his question. It's like, if you're gonna go there, then
stay there and just go straight to it. You played
the Bulls, you played the Jazz, you played the Piston,
(22:19):
you played a bunch of bombs.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, but I don't think that matters anymore. They won
the first round, they upset the Grizzlies there here, don't
I think that's irrelevant.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
But the question he was asking, don't imply it because
you know you're given then the open doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
We're a great defensive team. They are there is there ever? Was?
They are?
Speaker 1 (22:38):
And what do I say is that I've said for
the longest I Lebron agreed he must listen to the
show and here driving home lands like, what do we
talk about The Lakers are where they are because of
their defense. You can say everything you want to about
the rest of their team and finally figuring out how
to meld everyone together in ad playing great and reeves
it's gonna get paid all kinds of money. He shouldn't
this offseason because he and D'Angelo Russell works so well
(23:00):
together all these days. But it's their defense. It's their defense.
And I feel good about the Lakers coming back home, knowing, boy, okay,
after this game, we got a little loose, And I
don't care what Lebron says. They got loose because there
were too many open threes for the Warriors. But it's
gonna be a little bit different back home. The Lakers
will have a little bit more juice. These two teams
(23:21):
that will get tired very easily because they are veteran.
You know, these are not the Warriors where all those
were up and down the floor all the time. It's
no we gotta kind of pick our spots because you know,
Steph is thirty four, so is Clay and Draymond. And
it's gonna be a big advantage for the Lakers in
Game three because they're the ones coming home. They'll get
that extra boost, their bench will play better. I like
the Lakers, even after watching this twenty seven point burial.
(23:43):
I like the Lakers in Game three.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Look at you, You're just trying to kill Frostburg on
the other side of the glass here.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
I love them they're great. They're back now.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Look Lebron, I'll give him credit because he had a
couple of times where he could have gone all Yannis
and gone after the reporter ormans.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
This is a failure. Yeah, you didn't play in the
fourth corner. How are you? Failure? Like? Nothing wrong with us.
We were getting our asses kicked. I'm fine. Failure, fine,
there's no agry here. Don't try to imply that there
was something wrong with us. You burn the right. What
a failure that is.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
And It's the Magic Johnson Twitter Days.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Amazing Magic Johnson, after not tweeting about the game at
all after it was over, has gone on.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
A tweet star. I have some thoughts.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
So we're playing the Magic Johnson Twitter game here. No
more obvious and vivilla tweeter than Magic Johnson. I give
you the tweet. Your job is to tell me if
the tweet is a Magic Johnson tweet or made up
entirely by me playing as myself. Mike Harmon, Steve de Seger,
Justin Frostburg, Alex tischert are you ready?
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Let's get it off?
Speaker 1 (25:03):
The Warriors played extremely well in evening this series at
one game apiece.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
Oh no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
That's is that a magic Johnson tweets That is the
most generic of genericisms?
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Yes, all right, okay, tight shirt c Jason Metta a
crossroad here because I didn't get a single one right
last time.
Speaker 9 (25:29):
I want to keep that going.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
Okay, you're trying not to do well. That can't be.
Speaker 9 (25:33):
All right, Steve, talk for yourself. Okay, I'm gonna.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Say yes, that very obvious and vanilla tweet is not.
Let's go. Johnson tweets.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
In Game three, the Lakers have to make some major
changes and adjust to how the Warriors are playing them.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
Is that a mad Johnson tweet? Putting that coaching hat on?
In Game three?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
The Lakers have to make some major changes and adjusts
out the Warriors are playing them.
Speaker 7 (26:09):
I mean yeah, with no details. So yes, he's not wrong. Sure, Yeah, yeah,
it's gotta be.
Speaker 9 (26:16):
I'm gonna say, no, that.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Is a magic. Johnson we tweets I'm so pumped.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Six Warriors ended in double figures, led by Klay Thompson
with thirty points.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 9 (26:39):
That would be typical?
Speaker 5 (26:40):
Please?
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Six Warriors ended in double figures, led by Klay Thompson
with thirty points.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
Sure, I mean he does know the stats from reading
a box score. It's just like nobody else.
Speaker 7 (26:53):
So yeah, or his tweeter does, and then he counted
for like Mike Francis his non union tweeter.
Speaker 9 (27:00):
Jason. I'm so sure that is one. I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
Kids today, that is a magic tweet.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Twenty points for Steph Curry, but just as important were
his twelve assists in the win. Twenty points for Steph Curry,
but just as important were his twelve assists in the win.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 11 (27:33):
No?
Speaker 8 (27:33):
Because there was all this talk this week about Stephie,
I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
He never shows Steph love I concur can't be. I'll
say yes because he was effective, Unlike the game one
with Vanderbilt.
Speaker 9 (27:50):
Steve, your batting average isn't great. I'm going with Steve, Yes,
Actually that good is? Oh no, that's not good?
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Then no magic Johnson tweet.
Speaker 9 (28:00):
Undefeated and not winning, all.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Right, Steph better than me don't make me laugh? Is that? No?
How I wish this.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Is where chat GBT takes over Hei Magic Johnson, Steph
Curry ain't got.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
Okay? That is that is not a Magic Johnson tweet.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Jamichael Green was the unsung hero for the Warriors with
fifteen points.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Yes, is that Magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Well, he echoed the sentiments of Lebron James right because
Lebron talked straight about it. That was the guy felt
like he was out there for twenty four thirty minutes.
Speaker 7 (28:43):
Okay, sure, Yeah, I mean unsung because Looney didn't start.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
So I just have to say, though this is a
disappointing effort from Steve, he is not harassed any of
the messaging real or fake from this Magic Johnson account.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Usually Steve gets really upset a lot earlier in this.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Game, very even tempered tonight have the twenty seven point
burial for the Lakers is what I think?
Speaker 5 (29:10):
I think.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
I think Tyscher's throwing them off with I'm gonna copy you,
but only if I think you're gonna get it wrong.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
Yeah, you repeat the question and use it in a sentence, please.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Jamichael Green was the unsung hero for the Warriors. With
fifteen points.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
Yeah, why not? Okay, Steve, where did you go? Yes?
Speaker 9 (29:30):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (29:31):
No, that is does Tyer know who J. Michael Green is?
I don't think I've never heard of him. He doesn't
know who Magic Johnson is.
Speaker 9 (29:38):
No idea, that is it?
Speaker 5 (29:40):
It is a magic sweet There we go.
Speaker 9 (29:47):
I'm so good.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
Oh, I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
The more you think about this game, the more difficult
than is. Tycher might have the right attitude. I'll just
go opposite of other people. See if I get it
right and I win. Twitter it out about a fresco.
I could swollen dough. The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Carbon Coming up next. Yes, the Lakers and Warriors tied
at one game apiece, but another big time NBA story
broke right around the time this game began. We get
(30:11):
into that coming up next, right here.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
Fox.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Oh No, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (30:24):

Speaker 9 (30:27):
Make me Jay. There's no coming back from this.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
We're welcome everybody here. You don't come back from playing
this song. You don't come back from that.
Speaker 9 (30:34):
I don't want to.
Speaker 5 (30:35):
You don't come back from that. You don't. You absolutely don't.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Hey, this is if there's ever been an indication that
we are the show that puts our arms around and
grabs everybody into one giant community.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
It's this.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
I really thought you were gonna have an arms wide
open line there.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
I really did well.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I just I was as if there's a camera in
the middle of the studio here that I put my
arms wide open.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
Fox Sports, Jase right, let him know. Jay, Hey, I'm good. Thanks,
what happened?
Speaker 5 (31:08):
Let it breathe, Let it breathe. What are you doing?
Speaker 9 (31:10):
What is wrong with you?
Speaker 5 (31:14):
Oh? Oh my goodness.
Speaker 9 (31:16):
I know you said. That's what Harmon does when we drive.
We just changed songs when we're ready.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Every every eight seconds Harmon heard enough of a song,
he puts on a new.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
One, trying to expose you to his many great songs.
In a short amount of time.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
You get thirty seconds of a song and then he's
onto the next. So I'm like, dude, let's just listen
to the whole song. And and then you know, driving
with one hand and trying to call you, come on, dude.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
Let's just hear a song. Let's just hear one song.
Come on, just one song, Just let us hear what's song.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
We'll get back into the Warriors and the Lakers coming
up in a few minutes. Ryan Hollins is going to
stop by and talk to us about it. Break down
what he saw tonight, what he sees going ahead. But
another big story in the NBA tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks
wave goodbye to head coach Mike Buttenholzer. They fire him
after the early round exit against the Heat. The last
(32:01):
few weeks from Mike Buttenholzer gets knocked out of the playoffs,
his brother dies in a car accident, and now he
has let go as the Bucks head coach. So yeah,
heart goes out to the guy. Obviously, from a basketball perspective,
this is not a surprising story. There's gonna be a
lot of Oh, I can't believe this. And he's a
two time Coach of the Year and he won the
(32:22):
title a couple of years ago. Yeah, look, I get it.
People forget how tough it is. Hey, you play in Milwaukee,
you got lucky with Giannis. It's tough to win a
championship in Milwaukee, and they did it. But all that
being said, this does not surprise me at all. Why
because what happened the team isn't getting better Following the
championship of a couple of years ago, they get knocked
(32:43):
out in the first round as a one seat The
one to eight thing is not as big a deal.
But it's a really bad optic. Okay, but then when
you hit with the double barrel of there were some
questions about some of his maneuvers late in games that
were very obvious things that came up that even Budenolser said,
I should have done a better job at it.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Could have called a time out here, I could have
done this.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Com When you pair that with Yannis saying, yeah, there
were some adjustments I kind of wish our team had made,
and why I should have guarded Jimmy Butler, Moore, all
these different things. You knew that that was gonna be
it for Buttenholzer, Right, the Yannis thing was the nail
at the end of it. Now, was it like, okay, yeah,
maybe we don't know he had some mistakes. Yanna says, hey,
(33:29):
I wish we did some things differently. Yeah, you're gonna
be gone, So there's gonna be a lot of outrage
on this tomorrow, And how do you do this to
a guy when this is really just a natural part
of sports. Now, how long does it? But championship buy you.
As you've seen in many different sports, championship doesn't buy
you that long. If the team thinks you're not moving
in the right direction, it doesn't matter if you had
a championship couple of years ago. If you're not close
(33:50):
to winning again, you're not gonna keep your job. That's
just how it goes in sports. So you're gonna hear
a lot of the outrage tomorrow. But this was a
very predictable outcome.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Well, you win to the year a war and if
you're not named Steve Kurry, you get fired. Keep an
eye out. I don't know, some guys get bounced. But
but yeah, you shouldn't get forever. Right, Things move forward, Giannis,
I think showing you the last couple of weeks who
he really is, so I think all of the hey,
he's an awe shucks, uh happy go lucky kid, I
(34:19):
think that's going out the window. I'm not going to
do the personal attack on your reporter, but I could,
And in.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
This case, it's like, yeah, coach failed us. This season
was a failure. What it was was the season of
failure that fired the coach.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Yes, just because US season was get you get a
short run and fish finished in the regular season, it's
got to translate to something.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Who's in the driver's seat, Lakers, Warriors or the Knicks.
That's coming up next right here, chasing the mic from
the Fox Sports Radio TIREC dot com studios on air
