Speaker 1 (00:51):
Game one of the Western Conference Finals goes to the
Nuggets one thirty two to one twenty six. And if
we felt we all had a great aim to break
down tonight, we couldn't get any luckier.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Magic Johnson has just started tweeting.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Nobody gee, yeah, nobody cheat yo.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I haven't seen anything.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
I saw one different Magic tweet earlier, but I don't
see anything else.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Don't cheat. We will have the Magic Johnson Twitter game
coming up. But don't drink dead poison now right now
on the hotline.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Longtime NBA insider friend of the show, Mark Medina.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
You can follow him on Twitter at.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Mark g Underscore Medina covering the Western Conference Finals, Mark,
what's happening to my man?

Speaker 5 (01:37):
How are you? I'm doing well? You want to hear
some Magic Johnson tweets?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
No, no, no, we played the game in a few minutes.
No no, no, no no, we play the game. We play,
we played the game. I don't want to hear him yet. Okay,
unless you've written one yourself, I will do.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
The opposite that. I don't have sharp opinions and strong analysis.
I won't.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Well, that's why we have the Magic Johnson Twitter game.
I give you a really vanilla and obvious tweet. You
have to decide if it's me making up the tweet
or if it's a real Magic Johnson tweet.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
Oh my gosh, that is one great game, and it's
honestly one game that I also played on the Lakers foot.
Always fun times, all.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Right, So here's where I'm at following Game one. Yes,
I get that the Lakers were able to come back.
There's no moral victories in the NBA playoffs. The Lakers
defense got embarrassed and you kind of are what you
are and this is one nothing, Denver, how are you
on this?

Speaker 5 (02:30):
No moral victories? But I also don't think the series
is over. I think that you know, what appeared to
be an overwhelming dominant performance by the Nuggets suddenly became
a competitive game. And so I think that's going to
be the theme of the series throughout, where it's just
going to be a lot of murkiness, a lot of
you know, competitive basketball that may look ugly at times,

(02:52):
pretty at other times, and a lot of unpredictability unpredictability
in between. And so, yeah, the Nuggets are in the control.
They won Game one, but there certainly is a recipe
for the Lakers not only to make this competitive, but
to actually win it. So yeah, Buck Goldens strap up
for a seven gamer.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Mark the coming out of this game. Jason and I
were just talking about a little earlier. Ruey Hachimura becomes
the most important man for the Lakers analysis.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Okay, let's build a statue outside of Crypto dot com.
Mareal while with Austin Reeves. I mean, I think they've
already been been compliants for him anyway, so why not
include two role players?

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Well, they can't afford him, so he's not going to
be there long enough.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
To Oh yeah, you know what's really disappointing, all these
plays and performances that he's showing, it's ultimately just gonna
end up in the tribute video next season.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
You know something you wrote about I wanted to get
to here your your latest five takeaways for the for
game one on Sports Not.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
You can get it right now at sportsnot dot com.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
The beginning of the game, the Lakers looked like, hey,
we're stick to the plan kind of team, and the
Nuggets came out with fire and physicality and a sense
of focus and desperation, and the Lakers spent most of
the game chasing it. I was really surprised that this
is how the series started. And I know we're going
to hear about altitude and all kinds of stuff. What

(04:16):
do you think of how this game began and the
Nuggets get out to a lead that they don't give up.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, I wasn't surprised with how tired they looked you
hit the nail on the head with the altitude. But
I think that it's one of those things that as
much as they can overcome that eventually, that's usually what
happens when teams visit Denver. The reality is the condensed
nature of the schedule now kicks in. You know they're
going to start playing every other day and that's going
to start providing more wear and tear. And I think

(04:42):
the other thing is the Lakers were hoping that having
three days of recovery, having an extra day of practice
in Denver could help mitigate that. But I think to
their credit, they fought through it. They obviously were able
to adjust to it later in the game. But I
also was a little disappointed for the Lakers that they
didn't do themselves any favors. Look like, no one's gonna

(05:03):
stop Nikola Yoki. She's a two time MVP first season,
But why start the game with a small lineup where
you're just going to get owned on the boards and inside.
To the Lakers credit, they adjusted those different things. Anthony
Davis I thought had a tremendous performance on both ends
of the floor. But I think that this illustrates that
there's very little margin for error against a team like

(05:27):
the Nuggets. There are the number one seed for reasons,
so again, strap up your seatbelts. It's going to be
a turbulent ride.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Yeah, Mark to that point.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
The smaller lineup looking for offense, I mean Lebron James
with it with a lot of addition and open looks
that just didn't fall early to help build the giant
bucket with no rebounding. It falls, but eventually shots starts,
so I guess it kind of evens itself out. But

(05:55):
when you're clawing back from such a big deficit, you know,
you're just for Darvin Ham. The early decisions just come
back to haunt him.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Yeah, and I presume that Darvin Ham made these decisions thinking, hey,
when they're gonna zig, we're gonna zag. You know, trying
to match up size for size is harder for Jokics
because he's just a dominant big. But I think that
that played inso the Nuggets' hands because he could kick
it out to shooters. They're draining it from three. And

(06:26):
while it's not like these players are like dramatic game changers,
it showed that every little thing matters in the series.
When they matched up against the Nuggets in the Bubble
three years ago. They had some physical big men like
Dwight Howard and Javelle McGee to throw bodies at Nikola
jokicch with the idea of just giving them multiple looks,

(06:46):
trying to wear them out. And so this idea of
trying to beat the Nuggets with size and speed, it
just didn't seem to cut it now. Again, they did
change some things later on where they were having Ad
become the help defender as opposed to the primary defender,
but they still only played Jared Venner built ten minutes.
I mean, he is their best interior defender behind Ad,

(07:10):
Winy and Gabriel. I know he's a young player, but
he's at least a tall body that they can throw at.
So maybe that's a wrinkle they do in game two,
But I thought, why not just see that from the beginning.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Look, why not just play web Minyama If he's that good,
just Gradman would have been the games the greatest prospect
in the history of the NBA.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Put him in, Yeah, they could. They could have flown
to France and kidnapped him before Pop could get them
and treat him to wine Bright the way with Web Miyama.
I mean, I know that we know that the Spurs
are going to draft him, but I just found it
hilarious that everyone's just saying the quiet part out loud.
You know, the telecasts is asking Victor, how do you

(07:48):
think about the Spurs drafting you? Like they just landed
the number one pick. It's not like they selected him,
but you know everyone knows that's inevitable. It was amusing.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
It would be kind of funny if Pop decided to
think the room, yeah, here, I got this gift, but
you know what.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Forget it. I'm out.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
All of a sudden, they become the Oklahoma City Thunder
and they decide, you know what, what's stocked up on
a treasure chest of draft picks? So we can use
this at some point down the line instead of, you know,
use the draft pick for a generational talent. That would
be pretty funny.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Now here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
So when we look at the and I go through
this all the time, mark because I just don't understand
why the NBA has an off night last night? Right,
Why don't you have the draft lottery night on a
night where there's no game?

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Why you can own the night?

Speaker 1 (08:37):
It's a big enough thing where you can have this
be the story all day yesterday leading up to the
Draft lottery WEMBA. Some years it's going to be bigger
because some years there's a great guy at number one,
other years there isn't. But it's such a big deal,
and yet every year the NBA just tries to shoehorn
it in the same night as game one of one
of the conference finals, and it gets dwarf because we're

(08:58):
talking Lakers Nuggets when the I don't know why they
didn't do this last night.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I don't understand.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
Yeah, I agree with you completely. Now, it's not like
the NBA hasn't thoughted these things. I think that their
logic is the same idea that you know, a lot
of shows want to show a really good episode after
the Super Bowl, right like people are still going to
be having the TV on and they might tune in
out of curiosity. Same idea, have the draft lottery take

(09:24):
place before a marquee game that people are going to watch.
But I'm with you that whatever advantage that has with
promoting the game, it's going to just get lost in
the news cycle. And they can build up even more
of a news cycle with having it the day before,
and last I checked, if you have it a day before,
you can promote the following game the next day. Right,

(09:44):
So I'm with you one hundred percent. But it just
goes to show that, you know, maybe this doesn't change.
I mean, just think years from now when they have
this amazing, you know, mid season tournament that no one
understands how it works. Don't worry, they're going to have
the draft lottery announcement before happens.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
As we were talking.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
About it before, right, You're you're having your lunch eaten
by the NFL, who'd take a chance for every date possible.
And then here it's like, we're gonna have this mid
season tournament, but you know what, this will just jam
in for ten minutes ahead of a game.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
So I don't know, I don't understand how this works.
It doesn't matter we're having the draft lottery.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
It's just right now, doesn't exactly it is.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
It is a diversion, that's a perfect diversion.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
And it's all gonna be decided by kids on big
wheels or a baby crawling race.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
As we go.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Mark Medina with us here, Jason Smith show, Mike Harmon
with you from the Tiraq dot Com, Fox Sports Radio Studios. So,
who's the next superstar to get a coach fired? Do
we have anybody left that can still get ousted based
on a no show? I say this obviously facetiously, as
we have Doc Rivers and Manti Williams unceremoniously domped to

(10:54):
end the week.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Yeah. Well, look, Jason, he might be worried about Tom
Tibboda what he's gonna do? Right, No, don't worry. Timms
is there to stay. He's a culture changer. He's elevating
the best, the best out of the group. But you
don't what Just wait till next year, My friend, we're

(11:16):
Joe Well.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Embiid next year.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I'm fine, he's gonna one out of Piladela. If you're
gonna get him Beid, it's gonna be great.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Wow that Jalen Brunton, Joel Embiid duo amazing. I don't
know if it's enough though, for Victor Webb Yama against
San Antonio. You know, to answer your question about Hey,
he's going one on five, Mark, Come on now, how
about this answer your question about the head coaches. Look,
it's all wait and see. I don't think of the

(11:42):
remaining teams that you know, Darvin Ham's not going anywhere.
He just got hired. First year head coaches don't get fired.
I don't think Michael Malone's going to go anywhere. I
don't think there are exposure is going to go anywhere
because the Miami Heat actually values head coaches. You know,
last I checked, Lebron James even flowed the idea of
him getting tossed, and they weren't having that. Joe Mizzoola

(12:03):
first year head coach. But I think, you know, look
at ty Lou as the possible domino to fall out
of this with the Clippers. The Clippers have made it
clear that you know, he's not going anywhere as far
as they're concerned. They gave him vote of confidence after
the first round exit, saying it had more to do
with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George being heard and that
even though the Clippers were struggling, he did a good

(12:24):
job with handling rotations, doing adjustments, et cetera. But you know,
maybe the Suns go after them the same way that
the Clippers went after Doc Rivers when he was with
the Celtics, and they wind up negotiating negotiating a trade. Now,
I think to the Son's disadvantage, they don't have a
lot of assets to offer, you know, the Clippers, unless

(12:45):
they just want to give away Kevin Durant and Devin
Booker for free. But you know, that is a thing
that could start some serious conversations. But other than that,
I think the other head coaches are here to stay.
But I think the part is of all the fired coaches,
it's inevitable that some of them are going to become
the new we hired coaches for the other vacancy. So,

(13:08):
you know, Manti Williams just got fired by the Suns.
Now all of a sudden, he might be a favorite
for the Sixers coaching vacancy. Maybe Mike Budenholzer is a
favorite for the Sun's vacancy after the Bucks fired him.
It shows that, you know, all these coaches I think
did a reasonably good job, but they're always the first scapegoat.
But it's also the nature that you know, doesn't take
long for other teams to then recycle them through.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Maybe you're on the list again. You didn't get the
Lakers job last year, you're on the list again.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
You know what, I think that the thing that I
have going against me is that a few things. If
they asked the Lakers for reference checks, they're going to say, ah,
he was so bad in the interview process, and then
they're going to hear my takes on your show. Or
I'm just giving my opinion about any team and not
caring what the reaction is. So it's a double whammy here.

(13:57):
I already withdrew myself by default with all these a.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
He's on Twitter at Mark g Underscore Medina. That's at
Mark g Underscore Medina, longtime NBA reporter and insider. Check
out his latest the five Big Takeaways of the Nuggets
Game one win over the Lakers, right there on Sports
Not Mark as always, Buddy, appreciate it, man, We'll talk
to you soon.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
I appreciate you guys and hanging there from New York.
It's gonna work out, okay, all.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Right, thank you, saying Mark, he do you have to
drive by on your Knicks exit. But I mean, with
all these high profile coaches, former Coaches of the Year
and contenders on the marketplace, I think I'd be nervous
hour as a head coach. I'm probably gonna get called
to do another power point before it's all said none
to continue to keep my job.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven

Speaker 3 (14:55):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
He sounds sexy live from the tire rack dot Com Studios.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
As we are looking back at the Nuggets one thirty two,
twenty six win over the years, and we've broke it
down a lot of ways.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
We have some other big stories from the NBA to
get to.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
We got Webben Yama's gonna wind up going to the Spurs,
the Sixers, fire Doc Rivers.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
We got lots of things to get to. But wait,
but wait, but wait, It's time for.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
And now it's the Magic Johnson Twitter game.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Oh here it is often imitated, never duplicated, the Magic
Johnson Twitter game.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
There is no more obvious and vinilla tweeter in the
world than Magic Johnson. So here's how the game works.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
I give you a tweet and you have to tell
me if this is a Magic Johnson tweet or if
It is made up.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Entirely by me.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
We are celebrating the day in the NBA Playoffs, playing
as myself, Mike Harmon, Justin Frostburg, Alex tight Shirt, Nick Kpe,
you guys ready to go.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Let's get it on. Magic did hit Twitter in a
large way. Here's your first one. The Lakers need to
regroup and clean up some things for game two? Yes?
Is that a magic? Johnson tweet? The Lakers need to
regroup and clean up some things for game two.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
Well yeah, yeah, okay, they kind of do need to regroup.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
They do. Okay, okay, ty Shirt, what do you think.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
See, Jason, I'm on an undefeated only being defeated streak
right now, So what does that even mean? That means
I haven't been right in a long time. Okay, so
I'm undefeated for being defeated.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Just say that. That doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 8 (16:49):
Well, I mean that's the whole point of the language,
you know, Selfi's word now, So I'm gonna say no, Okay,
all right, Nick, I'll say yes, magic.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
That.

Speaker 6 (16:59):
Is is.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
A magic. We're off in pacing.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Let's go, Hey, hashtag Laker Nation. It was a great comeback.
We just fell a little short. Is that a Magic
Johnson tweet?

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Hey, hashtag Laker Nation? It was a great comeback. We
just fell a little short.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
I can get on board with that, sure, Okay, Yeah,
I've never really seen Magic use hashtags. I don't. I
don't think he knows how to dive that far into Twitter.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
So no, okay, yeah, that's that's good reasoning there, Jason.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
I'll say no, all right, just he does use hashtags.

Speaker 9 (17:41):
Just let you know he does use them, and that
is not Johnson say yes, then I hate you Ron.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
He gotta jump in, man, I mean, he.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
Didn't want me to answer over Alex kind of host
thanks for you.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
You know, he came back from his trip, right, I did.
Laker Nation.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Nicola jokicic dominated the Lakers and finished with a thirty
four point twenty one rebound, fourteen assists triple double.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet? Laker Nation? Nicola yokicch
dominated the Lakers and finished with a thirty four point
twenty one rebound, fourteen assists triple double. All right, yeah,
I can get yeak, all right, let's go.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
Okay, Yeah, I mean Jokic did dominate the Lakers. He
did finish with thirty four points, twenty one rebound, dead
fourteen assists. Y. Yeah, he's a dressing Laker Nation, so why.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Yes, Yes, I like the double laker at the very
top of the tweet is very wordy.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I'm gonna say yes.

Speaker 8 (18:45):
That is I'm gonna say no, thanks Jay.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
A magic Johnson tweet, Let's go magic? The Nuggets controlled
the boards and fast break points? Is that a magic
Johnson tweets? The Nuggets controlled the boards and fast breakpoints?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Well, I mean it's actually correct, it is it is?
It is sure? Why not okay?

Speaker 7 (19:15):
I mean if the other two were, this one's got
to be too.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Okay going streaking?

Speaker 8 (19:21):
Oh hi, Jay, I thanks for remembering I'm here. No,
that is definitely not okay, Nick, I'll say no.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
I think that's what Darvin Ham talked about.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
Is not go where I'm going?

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Ah, you and Nick is very smart and that is
a magic Dodson tweet. Nuggets controlled the boards.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
And fast break Well they did.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
What a night for a d in defeat with forty
points and ten rebounds to go along with three assists,
three steals, and two blocks. What a night for Anthony
Davis in defeat forty points to go along with ten rebounds,
three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Nah, none of this moral victory garbage.

Speaker 10 (20:06):
Okay, Ah, in defeat, he's not gonna rub it into
a d No, okay, can't be Okay.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
He absolutely does suck at ad.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yes, that's too many stats to lift off.

Speaker 7 (20:25):
List off.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
I'm gonna say, no.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Interesting strategy that is not in Johnson tweets. Alright, alright, alright,
I've played in mile high air. That thin air is
no joke.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet? I've played in mile
high thin air. That thin air is no joke.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I'm gonna say no, but I like it. Okay, no joke.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Now, if you said he's part of the high Club,
then I would say, yes.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
That is a different It wouldn't be. I mean entirely,
but no.

Speaker 8 (21:06):
I heard you laugh while you were saying it can't be.
Justin what is the mile high club?

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Get on a.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Plane, You get on a plane, child, gets on a plane,
you're you're a mile high in the air, and you
go to the bathroom and you come back to your seat.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
That's it. Yeah, it's it.

Speaker 8 (21:24):
Oh nice, I'm in the mile high Club.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Oh good, congratulations, very nice.

Speaker 8 (21:28):
Okay, I'm gonna say yes.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
I'm gonna I hope it's yes, but I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Say no, that is not a magic Let's go in tweet.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
The starting backcourt Russell and Shrewder combined for only fourteen points.
If the Lakers are going to win Game two, they
both have to play better. Now that's your critical a
magic Johnson tweet. The starting backcourt Russell and Shrewder combined
for only fourteen points. If the Lakers are gonna win
Game two, they both have to play better? Is that

(22:04):
a magic Johnson tweet.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
I'm gonna say yeah, because he expects greatness out of
the guard positions always he he's his critical of the guards.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Mike, Okay, I'll sit on the other side, but I
see your point. I mean, because it's a chance by
way of tearing them down to prop his greatness.

Speaker 7 (22:24):
O oh absolutely, any chance he can get.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
Yeah, I'll say yes, just cherry Cherry pick a stat
and be like, that's got to be better.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, all right, sounds sounds on par with him.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Oh really, ty Shirt?

Speaker 2 (22:38):
You sure, I'm not.

Speaker 8 (22:40):
That's what makes me sure?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Okay did you say no to Yeah?

Speaker 8 (22:44):
We're in trouble. That is.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
A Magic Johnson tweet that's about his critic as he gets.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
String. I don't know if those guys are gonna be
able to take that criticism.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
I will never hang their jerseys up in the rafters.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
You know, you're real quick aside in the middle of
the story because I think about this, like, that's as
critical as he gets.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
When I was working for ESPN, this is a great story.
It's a great NBA Final story.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
It was the first Finals Lakers Celtics in two thousand
and eight.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Right when the Celtics win, James Posey it's all the
threes too soon.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
So so it was really big deal because they asked
me to host the post game off of ESPN Radio.
Right like the game was on ESPN Radio and they
wanted me to host the post game. Going into my
show and me do all night like after, I was like,
oh my god, that's awesome. Of course I'd love to
do that. So it was I was really excited about it.
And then and then my boss, my manager, who he

(23:43):
was to Oh my god, one of the worst.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
This guy. I don't know how he got the job.
He says to me before I go on the air,
like a half hour before I go in there, he's
all right, so you're ready for this? I go yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
He goes, Okay, no opinions. And I said, what he's
no opinions, no opinions on the on this show. I go,
it's just me talking. What do you mean, no opinion,
no opinions, no opinions, just talk about the game. I go,
talk about the game, but don't give opinions.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
You just no no opinions. I go, so I can't
say that pau Gasol has to play better. No, can't
say that. I'm like, you gotta be kids who told
him just read the box score?

Speaker 7 (24:19):
What are you?

Speaker 3 (24:20):
No opinions? So I go on and I do it,
and the next day my other bosses are going, hey,
are you okay? We expect a little bit more out
of you before last night.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
I'm like, you gotta be kidney, you gotta go talk
to you, gotta talk to I won't say his name.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
You got to he's the one that told me no opinions.
He goes, what I said, he told me no opinion?
Name names. Okay, you know nobody knows who he is.
It doesn't matter. Was it food? Come no?

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Was it.

Speaker 11 (24:45):
No?

Speaker 3 (24:46):
No, it was back in No.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
This is this is back to when when I was
at ESPN Radio and I said, you got to talk
to him because he's the one that told me no opinions.
And the worst part of it is is that is
that I listened to the guy and I did, and
I'm like, how am I doing a show? I'm just
reading the stats. I'm just reading the stats here, and uh,
you know, Palagasol shot just eight for twenty four from
the I'm like, what am I doing? What am I

(25:07):
doing here? So and the thing is, and this is
what pissed me off is this is the way management works.

Speaker 10 (25:13):
Is that.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
I guarantee you that I when I told my one manager, hey,
you got to talk to everybody and tell him that's
what he told me.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
I guarantee you nobody followed up with that. So they
came off that going yeah, I don't know if we
can have Jason do that again.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Now I wound up doing it for the rest of
the series, but I guarantee you there's some people that
thought about me in my future at ESPN was like, yeah,
we don't know, man. We gave him that shot doing
the doing the post game, and yeah, it wasn't wasn't
really great that for it. So I guarantee that that
didn't happen. And and and because I listened to someone
who gave me ridiculously awful advice on how to do
a show, I guarantee you that wound up hurting me

(25:47):
and my some of my upward mobility at esput.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, because nobody knows who he is, it doesn't matter.
Nobody knows for you.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
No, no, no, this is going to be therapy. Get
get it up.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
It's all it's all good, it's all good playing therapy
from Ozzy Osbourne.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Let's go rhymes with schmustin Schwasburg. Okay, just so you
know that that's who was now, No, so that.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
That's the last thing I'm telling you is not to
give an opinion.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
I don't know. We need fewer hot takes, all right,
here we go. One more from Magic John's Twitter. Let's
tell you you have one?

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Okay, well, how are you? Wait a minute, how do
you have one? If I have one, how are you?
That means you're looking at Magic John's Twitter account.

Speaker 7 (26:34):
I just pulled it up.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Oh so then you should not do this one because
I sent this one you sent this one out set,
this one out.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
No opinions from you, Frosburg.

Speaker 7 (26:44):
No opposite, I go opposite, Alex.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Anthony Davis's forty points are overlooked in this Lakers loss?
Is that Johnson tweet?

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Oh yeah, he could stand for him? Yeah no, it
could be sure. So you're saying yes, I'm gonna say yes.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Okay. It's like just kind of walking myself through. It's like, yeah, no,
I could see magic. Dude, you walked your way through. Okay,
very good? All right, tight shirt? What do you got?

Speaker 8 (27:19):
Can use that in a sentence again? Please?

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Anthony Davis is forty points are overlooked in this Lakers loss.
That is the sentence. I didn't have to use it
the sense. I just had to say the sentence again.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
All right, can you give me a vow.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
E?

Speaker 11 (27:35):
No?

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Okay, Nick, what do you got? Come on now?

Speaker 7 (27:43):
That's just domat analysis.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Okay, that you're new here?

Speaker 9 (27:49):
That is.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Magic Johnson? Wow, that's crazy walk my way all the
way back into that one. It's like, yeah, I guess now,
let's that. Let's let now let's hear what what mister
no opinion Frostburg has.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
Are you guys ready?

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (28:04):
Go Russell Wilson sitting court side tonight is the closest
he'll get to a conference championship game in Denver?

Speaker 3 (28:14):
That is.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Is there a picture?

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Is there a picture of Magic with his arm around
Russell Wilson in Siarra like on the Is it Magic
and Cookie and Russell Wilson in Sierra.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
They all together on a yacht somewhere. Is that what
it is? That's pretty good?

Speaker 8 (28:33):
I like that.

Speaker 7 (28:35):
The answer is no, So there it is to Russell
Wilson getting close to one.

Speaker 1 (28:41):

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Live from the tai iraq dot Com studios where we
watched tonight the Nuggets take Game one of the Western
Conference Finals. They looked like they were gonna run away
with it. The Lakers make a mad run late, but
it's not enough. The Nuggets win it one thirty two
to one, twenty six We're getting set for game two
on Thursday. A couple of minutes ago, we had Lebron

(29:24):
James and Anthony Davis meet the media together ad with
forty points and ten boards and defeat Lebron James.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
What a sisshi have a triple double? At twenty six,
twelve and nine. What did they have to say? Found
Lakers game one loss. Let's take a listen and Lebron,
just what did.

Speaker 8 (29:39):
You notice about the way it never hit first?

Speaker 11 (29:41):
I got Bolter's the key on the glass and yukinchin everything,
and how did you guys find the way to.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Wait upwards became?

Speaker 11 (29:47):
Yeah, I mean it took us a half the ends
of the game, and uh, that was pretty much the
ballgame right there. We gotta understand that, you know, we
gotta start from from the tip off, you know, and uh,
they punched us in them out with the star.

Speaker 10 (30:00):
You know.

Speaker 11 (30:00):
I think they had more offensive rebounds than we had
total rebounds in the first half, and you know that
led to them getting the second chance points. They also
got on the fast break and killed us in the
fast break in the first half, you know, and it
was ten to ten from the free throw line, so
you know, I know the game is won in forty
eight minutes, but they set the tone in twenty four minutes,

(30:20):
and you know we was playing catch up for for
the next twenty four. I mean, in the postseason, it
doesn't matter if you cut it the one or you're
down twenty. If you lose, you lose. There are one
zero and we have to come back with desperation going
in the game too. We have to play better. We
have to rebound better. I thought we did a good
job and I turned the ball over. That's one thing
we've been very conscious about in the postseason, but we've

(30:42):
been better in transition. Tonight we wasn't that great in
the first half. We cleaned up in the second half.
So we need to be better at all fastes of
the game. Just kind of reading the game. It's a game,
always a game in between the game and just reading
the game and making the proper reads. You know. You know,
they started to go to a you know, a three
four to five switching rolls with anytime I was involved
with ADI, they started of switched you know, joke on

(31:03):
to me and uh, you know, trying to keep your
body on body because ADI was doing a great job
of getting into that pocket and and and doing what
he does best with his floaters and and you know,
things of that nature. So you know, we have opportunities,
and we know we can go to other things that
that also can work for us with you know, myself
handling the ball with guards set to pick a roll,
trying to get the good matchup, see how they gonna

(31:23):
play if they're gonnawitch, if they're on hard Show or
whatever the case may be. And we just try to
exploit that and and allow Ar to get going in
the forefront.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
And you were very complimentary.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
If you could you before this game, he could you
describe how he played in particular, what did you say
to him when he made that crazy shot running for.

Speaker 12 (31:39):
The uh amazing two time MVP. He very skilled, obviously
that's his number show. UH made some tough shots. You know,
you just trying to make a tough for him, you know,
switching up matchups and schemes on them. But you know,
he he's been playing well through the entire season and
you know, especially in this playoffs, so you know, you

(32:00):
tip your hat to him and then a shy I mean,
he just I just looked at him and just smile
I mean, it's nothing else I could have done. He
forty feet away from the basket, you know, one dribble,
he kind of throws it up and it goes in.
So uh no, it's definitely one of them nights. But uh,

(32:21):
you know, we encouraged about, you know, second half of
the game and things we can get better at it
and make some adjustments on on to the game.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
All right, So there it is, talking about the adjustments
and yeah, you know, in a game that's one thirty,
it's hard to look and say this, play this play
look because everybody wants to kill Lebron for Oh, Lebron
missed a couple of tips. We want Lebron to not
take those. I mean, I understand, like, no matter he
missed the shots. Hees, Oh Lebron, he did this, Lebron. Yeah, Okay,
it happened. Lebron missed. He missed a couple of threes.

(32:52):
At the end they were losing big. What are you
gonna do? But I will say, in a game in
which you know you you had the Nuggets get out
big and Lakers come back, that three by Jokic at
the buzzard and the third quarter was one of those
ridiculous when it's your night, it's your night kind of shots.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
I mean, he is thirty feet away from the basket.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Ad is out on him and he takes one of
those dribble step fade away and I'm just chucking it
up basically with one arm, and it goes in. You
see Ad smile when he walks off the court. And
that was a big deal because the Lakers had really
cut into the lead at that point. I mean they
all of a sudden, they had that lead down to
about eight and instead, nope, it's back up into double

(33:33):
digits going into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
I mean, that was the one.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
I don't want to say it was a backbreaking shot
because the Lakers came back, but you could put that
play in a vacuum and say that's a shot that
it's three more points for the Nuggets, because it's not
like there was a play after that was affected or
it was a play where normally that's a shot that
doesn't go, and if that shot doesn't go, you're taking
three points away from the Nuggets and suddenly this game

(33:59):
is even tighter than it is, and who knows which
way it goes. That was the biggest play of the
game without a doubt, and it's look, it's one of
those one of the nuggets you walk away going, hey,
when you're rolling sevens, you're rolling sevens.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
If you the Lakers, You're like, oh man, that's it
for us.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
I mean, what else do we have to do to
that try to get back in this biggest shot of
the game without a doubt.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Well, I mean we had that. You also had the
other shot Murray made originally ruled a three.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
They went back and looked at it, right, it was
at that point it was extending the lead to nine
and then upon correction back to eight. So so you
did have the you know, anxious moment there, but the
thumbs up Lebron back to Murray, like, there were a
couple where it was just the if they had a

(34:42):
hat on their head, they would have been the here,
let me doff my cap to you and just say
a good show, old chap. So this is kind of
back and forth and opportunities again, you know, because the
the glass half full Laker thing coming out of it
is like, look at the way we close doubt after
a no showing. Even Lebron said, so it took us

(35:03):
half to get into it. It's the damn Western Conference Finals.

Speaker 10 (35:06):
Man.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
We mean it took you half to get into it,
right because I mean said we were talking about and
one of your points was, hey, this is a different
Laker team that the that the Nuggets have seen. They
haven't seen these guys together. It's like, well it didn't matter.
They didn't tour through them. And for the Lakers, like
you didn't expect us, you didn't expect the extra pass.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
That's what they do. That's what jokicch does.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
I mean, he got job in the points column, but
also the lack of rebounding, an urgency to get after
the ball early. Yeah, that won't happen again. But to
suddenly assume everybody's hitting a bunch of jump shots because
in the second half they shot really really well. So
does that is that more reality or do we have

(35:51):
more of a mixed bag? I would I would vote
for the latter, uh, And that it's a much more
uneven thing than people say, well, look out, well they
played here, like all right, let's figure out where the
where it falls back and water rises is.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
To its level, you know.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
And that's the thing is that going into this game,
we talking about the firt Lebron's day. We lost in
the first half, and he's right because the Lakers came
into this game a little bit more trepidacious, a little
bit more Hey, let's stick to the plan here.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Maybe they were a little winded, and the Nuggets came
in with focus and physicality, and they set the tone
from the beginning. They were much more ready to say,
this is the Western Conference Finals, we want to go
to the NBA Finals. We're much more ready for the
start of this game than the Lakers are. And the
Lakers got there three days early to get used to everything, the.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
High altitude and to still come out that that was
the second most disappointing thing outside of the Lakers defense
that we saw at the night, that they came out
with that kind of effort when you knew the Nuggets
we're gonna have some kind of effort coming out of
Game one. Twitter it ou about a Fresca Mike get
