got John Paul Morosi coming up about twenty minutes, all

(00:49):
the biggest news from Major League Baseball. But i'd have something.
I'm going to say something here and you're gonna go, WHOA, Okay,
So we just watch. Look, the NBA is off tonight.
We're waiting for Game five to between the Heat and
the Celtics, which seems like a Game seven considering the
Nuggets swept the Lakers the Western Conference and hockey's going
to be a sweep. We just saw a sweep in

(01:10):
the Eastern Conference final. Oh yeah, this looks like it's
an unbelievably competitive series. Everything we ever wanted in this series.
The Florida Panthers headed to the Stanley Cup Final for
the first time since nineteen ninety six when it was
the big rat year Rats, and I remember covering it.
It feels like it was yesterday. Look, the Florida Panthers
is one of the newest teams to the NHL and

(01:32):
one of the newest teams in the Sun the Sun
Belt teams, and they went to the Stanley Cup Final,
and the big thing that year was rats because Scott Mellanbie,
who was a team captain, killed a rat in the
locker room before a game with a stick and it
became a fi and I think he went out that
game and scored like two goals, so they called it
like a rat trick or something like two goals in

(01:53):
one rat, right, So that became a whole That story
gets out and they play really well the beginning of
the season. They play well all year, they go to
the final, they get swept by the by the Colorado Avalanche.
I think the Croup scored the game winning goal in
overtime to win it. But it was a whole big thing.
And every time they would someone would get a hat
trick or in big games, they would throw plastic rats

(02:13):
on the ice and that was the whole thing for
the entire year. I remember they went to the Stanley
Cup Final. The first time they scored on Patrick Waugh,
who was a goalie for the Avalanche. It was an
onslaught of plastic rats. He went and sat in the
in the net under it so not to get hit
by any anything people are throwing out of the stands.
It was insane. And now here's Florida back in the

(02:35):
Stanley Cup Final. More rats, and they still threw some
rats on the.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well as the I mean, nobody celebrates rats on radio
organ like we did.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Sure, Oh yeah, yeah, the rat rankings. Florida's gotta jump up,
ate Miami, He's got it. Miami takes a jump up
for the rats. Now New York with their new Ratsar.
But if I were ever to leave radio for another
post ratsar ratzar of a Chicago or New York would
be I think that's a I think's a little pumptuous
that you would get the ratsar of a big city.

(03:03):
You have to work your way up. You gotta be
the rat zar in the big deal. Yeah, but you
can't just waltz right into that job. But what do
you what do you think you're at your I've been
watching Dale grib You're you're an acting out vermin for
years and you're an athlete and you can have a
great career. Just waltz on television. Want to con or
some episodes of Law and Order than I have. Come on, dude,

(03:23):
come on, man, you did not you know you can't
like JJ reddick your way in and say you know, hey,
you know I played the game. Come on, man, you
can't do that. Don't you know who I am. You
can't just do that. You gotta work your You gotta
be playing. You gotta start like in marketing to pick
up Edny rats. You gotta go in like market one
forty five, control the rat population there, jump up to
like market one, ten market, seventy market thirty market fit man, then.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
You get to Chicago extra rats so I can really
pad my numbers.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Wow, you want you want to legal rats? Brought in
to pad your rat numbers. I don't know if they're legal. Really, yeah,
just more of them, can you. I gotta think it's
to bring rats into No, I don't charged with some felonies.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
The possibility of the diseases and problems, yeah they.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Got yeah right now, they do cause problems. Not every
rat is like the look, although people say pet rats
are the best pets because they're really smart and they're
very affectionate. I mean I saw that guy cook, and
if you're looking this, I mean I can teach that guy.
Think if I had an army of him.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
No, no, the dining district with the rats that he's trained.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Can you that You go out to the reviewer and say, no,
I'm sorry, I got the rat cooking in the kitchen.
It's fine, it's fine. You see a rat, he's he's
rats cook cooking the meal. He's not being cooked. We're
not serving you rat. No, he's Look, he's got the
apron apron on and everything. He even talks too, like Jackson.
It really works out well. The you know those little
things you put on the drumstick at Thanksgiving to dress

(04:53):
up your turkey, Yeah, it works like a little hat
for the rat. It's the same size he's got, and
we get his little whiskers into little must look Aubert Snidley, whiplash,
whichever you before, I before I give you, I give
you a real hot take because I do believe this.
Let's hear what did it sound like? Panthers goal with

(05:14):
four seconds left to send them to the Stanley Cup Final.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Four Cup right circle go to the goal like a
chuck in.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
First shot pit Stars Pristons Pristons man Dude Good shuck.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
A power play goal.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Hits four three Panthers with four point three seconds to
go in regulation time. The Panthers take up four three
lead in the waiting.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Seconds, A power play goal for Matthew Good shut Panthers
radio network on the call in case you didn't know
he scored, and they're up to three and thank god,
my voice was not going to hold up for overtime.
It's just like that major legal take over money. I'm
in the bat's passes out. Uh but and I'm being

(06:01):
completely honest with this, right. Let's just say you could
wave a magic wand see you Mike Harmon had a
magic wand let's say you add one and you said Jason,
I can wave a magic wand, I say, what can
you do? Let's deal with right now, because we're talking
about right now. I could wave a magic wand and
I could put the Hurricanes and the Knicks back in
the playoffs. I would say, whoa, Okay, I thought, okay,

(06:24):
you could do that. I do the I'm shot in rewind,
I got my I got me. Yes, will obey, will obey.
After Hangtime? Yeah yeah, that was Mark Jones and doctor
Jack right on? Hang Time? Was that? Who hank time?

Speaker 7 (06:40):
Was?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
No?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
No, no, Hangtime was the sitcom? No? No, wait, no, no,
what was the what was it? What was the basketball
show before that? It was a basketball before Yeah yeah, yeah,
like Mark, doctor Jack and somebody else. So I thought
it was Mark Jones and doctor Jack Ramsey. That's good,
guess I forget. Okay, So you wave a magic wand

(07:02):
and you tell me I could put the Knicks in
the Hurricanes back in the playoffs, right, I said, okay, Well,
what's the catch? And you could say to me, you
could have that, or I could give you something else.
I don't lose anything else. No, I could give you
something else, or you can have what what are you
gonna give me right the Knicks and the Hurricanes back
in the playoffs, or I will give you something. What

(07:23):
are you gonna give me? And you said, I can
guarantee that Richmond wins the EPL on ted Lasso, And
I'm pretty sure I would take ted Lasso over the
Mix and the Hurricanes. I'm pretty sure. I knowing the
inevitability of them falling in a later y, yeah, because
it's right now. You could put them back in the playoffs. Okay,
they'd be in the Eastern Conference Final and be back

(07:45):
in or the Greyhounds win the EPL in the final
episode of ted Lasso next week. If you could give
me one of the other, I'm pretty sure I would
pick ted Lasso. You know how I know this because
no spoilers, But watching the game, the big game they
had in last night's episode that came in second to
last season, like I'm watching the game, like I'm watching
a game that's real, Like, oh, come on, make that save.

(08:09):
Oh say to myself, this is a television telegents Show'm
watching it like a lunit. Two thoughts One, it was
by far the best episode of the season. It was,
and it was a great episode, but it was gonna
have a lot of lows and p I don't know, man,
the Zava episodes were really good. Well but they had moments. Yeah,

(08:29):
but just Zava being character, just Zava being in the
whole thing was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
No, that was watching the I'm like like Madeline immediately, like,
there was one scene and we're not going to spoil it.
It's still in the We gotta have the forty eight hours,
I think in this day and age, because it was
it was released early too, so by time we're on
airway early I think, I think we're Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Somebody must have hacked into Apple Plus and be able
to do that.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
All I know is there there was one sequence with
a soccer related event that she looked.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
He goes, really, they couldn't. They couldn't. They couldn't film
that better. They decided to do one take. What was
that head?

Speaker 2 (09:07):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
I was hilarious? How had she just dead passed? She
goes watch this and then she rewinds it. He goes,
look at that and then rewinds it again. Go come on, dad, look,
don't make her. No, you know you have to go back,
go back and look how many and this is not
a spoiler. How many goals are scored when a player
is offside and it's not even close? Yeah, come on,

(09:28):
what's that? All the long balls out of her said,
come on, that guy's off side by like ten yards. Meanwhile,
I was watching earlier it was what was it? It
was Brighton and man City and the guy was ruled
offside where his foot probably couldn't have bit his toes.
Star Yeah, yeah, that was.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Like whoa.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
I mean there, it's like, look, you're off side of
your not right, It's like if the part of your
body is up getting that first, he's got like a boy.
The striker's got a ten year lead on the flass defender.
That's not all that's now going in the air whatever.
But I'm telling you just the look because this has
not been.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Nicks, because it was more entertaining for me watching the
lightning with you, though it is fun.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
I love the Knicks, But do I think they would
win to have them back in?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
But at the opportunity against what the emotion again, Yeah,
but the emotion I've invested in Ted last years.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
It's it's it's like it's one of my teams. I
already I think about crying knowing what is probably gonna
happen next week, like you know in certain parts. And
I'm just talking about the game. I don't mean anything
outside of the games going on. I'm like, I'm insane.
Oh they needed that one. I actually said that, I oh,
they needed that save and said, what do you mean

(10:50):
they need because you know you're right, You're right, You're right,
You're they needed.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
But even even live like you're doing the while they
dot this, So all right, here's what's gonna happen, and
then this is gonna come back over the top and
that and they surprised and didn't. By the way, hang
time to close that loop.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah, yeah, sure. Anthony Anderson, Jay Hernandez and the Great
Reggie THEUS Reggie Theis, Yes, yes, okay, Reggie THEUS. Ok.
He had that great poster with no shirt on, right then,
Reggie Theis have that big poster back in the eighties.
I got it.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
He was kind of a big deal. I mean it, man,
I'm in the big A. We used to go watch
him at the Chicago Stadium and we avoided rats in
the third level.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
That's good. Always want you always want to they were there.
You always want to avoid rats. You knew they were there.
We also want to avoid the band rat because they're
very overrated. No, sure, the band rat is completely I
get upset when I see their commercials. Go really rat
just because the name rat. They're so overrated. They agreed
to do a cheap thing. Overrated. Oh yeah, that's true.
They're probably they're very overraded. But no, I mean, are
you talking about the Knicks and the Hurricanes two of
my main teams? Right like I got five main teams.

(11:48):
I got the Mets and the Jets, Syracuse well, Syracuse
football and basketball, and the Knicks and Caroline. Right, those
are my teams, and right now you could put two
of them back in or Richmond wins. I don't know.
I think I would Richmond. No, that's not bad. He
remember you also had coach Mike Katowinsky as played by
Dick Mudkus. Oh that's right, yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought

(12:08):
that was when Katowinsky was the name of the guy
from Save by the Belt and I wasn't no, okay, no,
I thought it was all right, But there you go,
there's hang time. I would bringing us back, you would
take I think I would take the EPL championship for Richmond. Sure,
why not you kidding? All for Ted and Coach Beard.
I want to spin off a Coach Beard, Jamie and
I will, oh listen, I'm hoping Adventures of Coach Beard.

(12:32):
The thing is, is there enough for a spin off?
If it's If the rumor is Jason Sadekas wants to
go and wants to leave, there are two ways to
solve this one. You gonna do play we're the miller's part. Well,
here's one. No, he comes, Well, I don't think going
to because he wanted to hater thing where he does
another show that starts out his nor comedy and then
becomes nothing but a drama. No, look, I think the

(12:54):
reason mainly is that Jason Sadekas is dunk. He doesn't
want to go to doesn't want to spend all the
time in Europe anymore, and he's got a family everything
back here and other things, so it's it's a difficult thing.
So the one, the one solving all of this is
they go on and it's a show and it's still
everybody there, right and and and Roy is the cut.
Everybody's everybody is still involved, and no do that. Ray

(13:18):
Ramona will come in as a guest. We're trying to
figure out its gonna be somebody different. There's Will farrell
Man soccer sure, or or you do this, think about
this for a coach soccer or or he comes back
to back home to Kansas and he gets the head
coaching job with say Kansas City MLS, and he gets

(13:43):
that job because Rebecca buys the team and everybody comes
with him, and now suddenly it's fish out of water
everybody from England in the United States and Kansas City.
Now would that work? I don't know. It might get
a season out of it. It might, you could. It's
like after Mash you could get a season out of
that thought because you still have Jason Senakas, and that's
a big thing. Like when when you take away the

(14:05):
guy who's the central part of the series, can you
go on?

Speaker 6 (14:08):
You know?

Speaker 1 (14:08):
It was really good about this episode. There was more
Jason Sanakas in it well, and Jason Senaikas honestly feels
like in the last couple episodes he's trying a little
bit more. I felt like he's kind of sleep walking
through the first few episodes this year, kind of like
Chris pratt slipt walk through Guardians of the Galaxy Part three,
which we'll get into later on. And I feel enjoyable overall. Yeah,
but I feel like he's trying more like for like

(14:30):
he's like just disappeared, like checked out for wide swaths
of episodes this year, and I'm like, all right, it's
gonna come back, right, it's gonna We had these crazy
ass storylines that weren't really that interesting, but now I
feel like he's back. And last night was a great
episode as long. It was great. It was it was
so many different, uh storylines coming in. But you know,
it's tough, man, when you take the guy who's the

(14:50):
name series after and take him out? Can you do it?
Or come into the United States? Kansas City, that's he's
the coach. Rebecca buys the team, think about it, hires
early to come and be it's Rebecca and Keeley and Higgins.
You know, maybe Higgins wouldn't go because it would Travis
kel will show up. Sure, oh yeah, you get Mahomes
would be in there too, Sure, Andy Reid. Andy Reid

(15:11):
would be coaching the team at some point. Yeah, oh
you all have a big Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah, but Paul rud would come his ant man like
he would be there his aunt because he would be great,
like if he could he can get a bunch of
assists unofficially, Well, I mean, dude, come on, no one could.
They would try to hit him hard, but he would
get really small and then just push the ball by.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
I thought he would just he shrunk the whole time,
like he was a twelfth man. Well, or he's really
big the whole time and then he just you know,
just puts the ball in the net and it works out.

(16:35):
Stanley Cup Final, we have one half of the NBA Finals,
and now we have well Major League Baseball, and there
is one guy who is uniquely qualified to talk about
all of those topics as long as it's not the Lions.
It is longtime friend of the show Fox Sports One, MLB,
Fox Sports Radio, MLB Insider. Check them out on MLB

(16:58):
Network as well, doing stuff. Probably gonna hang up with
us and talk to NHL Network about the Panthers winning
and Matthew Kuldchuck and great stories about Kuchuk and his
family and his dad and his parents and his brothers
and everybody else. It is John Paul Morosi JP. What's happening, Buddy?

Speaker 7 (17:14):
Remarkable, remarkable night and series for Matthew could Chuck. We
can certainly call them one of the first families of
American hockey. And this guy every single game, whether it's overtime,
the waning seconds of regulation. Matthew Kuldchuck is becoming a
bona fide American sports superstar.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
See and that's the exact not beginning I wanted because
my team got eliminated, so I didn't have any feelings
at Matt Mouth. He could chuck six days ago. Now
I can't stand him, John Paul.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
JP, he's not going interference interference and jumping up and down,
waving his arms frantically for Twitter wave that final goal
off could have waved it.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
I'm very sorry, Jason, but the reality is the better
team one. I believe we have to get the counter
out there. I believe that the Carolina Hurricanes in a
four game series, you can total up all the even
strength goals they scored and it's on one hand at
this moment in time, So my apologies on that one.

(18:16):
The Hurricanes have an amazing fan base, great coach Ajo
is a star in this league. They've got a deep
defensive corps, but they do not have Matthew Kachuk, and
he has been the difference that I would have to
say he along with Sarah Gabbrovsky, but probably after tonight
it is Kachuck's conswife to lose should the Panthers prevail.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
All right, well, now let's take that horrible topic and
throw it away. Let's get to now JP. Look, we
see every day we see these new stories involving Oakland
moving to Vegas. And the big story today is that
both sides have a tentative deal on a plan for
Las Vegas. Is there any way this doesn't happen? Point

(19:00):
anyway the A's stay in Oakland, or this is just
a fade accompany and in one year or two, whatever
it's going to be, it's going to be the Las
Vegas A's or whatever they want Tom called Jason.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
I think it's very likely that they will wind up
in Las Vegas. All of the momentum is pointing in
that direction. I always hesitate to say that things are done,
completely done until you see the shovel in the ground.
But you can tell that Baseball is putting its light
behind this, both in terms of the political machinations that

(19:31):
have to occur in Nevada now with respect to the
State Assembly approving the funding plan, and so there still
has to be some steps to go through. This is
not done done, but there is clearly a framework in
place for the A's to move to Vegas. It's likely
to be now at the former Tropicana site there on

(19:51):
the strip, so great location. We see how successful the
Vegas Golden Knights are as they go through a playoff
run yet again and have a very comfortable lead of
course in the Western Conference final. So Vegas has proven
itself to be a legitimate American sports destination clearly, and
I think baseball would have a great amount of success there.

(20:14):
It's going to now become a part of that entertainment
nexus along the trip where you've got people coming in
even in the summer months, even when it's very hot there,
they'll still come and enjoy the casinos, enjoy the pool parties,
and then go to the ball game. So I do
believe it's very likely to happen there. It appears at
the moment that the A's would have one more season

(20:36):
left at the Oakland Coliseum in twenty four and then
potentially play in the Triple A Ballpark in twenty five
and twenty six while the new stadium is being built.
Obviously that the crowds that we've seen in Oakland this
year would fit comfortably in a Triple A ballpark, So
from that standpoint, I think it's going to be a
very manageable interim solution to play in a Triple A

(20:57):
park for a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Morosi with us here, Jason Smitchew with me, Mike harmon
Fox Sports Radio at John Morosi where you find him
on Twitter. Leave out the age because mom said so
j O N m RSI Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
At thirty one and twenty seemingly.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Duct tape band aids and then, as Jason always says,
just find a guy in the minor league. He's gonna
come up and do great. And from Miller, they got
a huge start yesterday. How long is that sustainable with
the rotation they're running.

Speaker 7 (21:30):
Out, Well, that's the key question, because, as you point out,
it's not just the injury to Dustin May, it's now
Julio Urias being on the injured list as well. They've
had a number of injury issues that they expect to
get Builder back, or least hope to get him back
sometime late in the season. But you're right for the
near term. With Dustin May now on the sixty day

(21:51):
injured list, they're expecting to get Urrias back at some point.
I would imagine in the month of June, but still
for the foreseeable future that they're gonna have to rely
on Bobby Miller, They'll have to potentially rely on Stone
for another turn. This is a team that is relying
on their offense and their bullpen to a large extent.

(22:12):
Evan Phillips is a great story back there in the pen.
But they're gonna have to win some games ten to five,
ten to four, ten six, those types of wins, and
fortunately for the Dodgers, they have the kind of lineup
to do that. So overall, I'm impressed by the way
Dave Roberts has managed the situation. The Diamondbacks are a
quality team, and I believe they're gonna give the Dodgers

(22:35):
fits all season long. When I spoke with Dave Roberts recently,
he described every game against the Diamondbacks like a track
lead because of how well they run the base is
how dangerous they are with the stolen base threat. So
I think it's a much tighter National League West this
year that it's been in many other times during the
Dodgers decade long run basically atop the division. But I

(22:59):
still believe this team has enough talent the Dodgers to
win the division, and then we'll see in the National
League overall, there's still I think a lot of questions
about what's exactly happening out of East. With the exception
of the Braves and the Central is anybody's division, whether
it's the Pirates and the Brewers of the Cubs or
the Cardinals. I think a lot of teams still have
a chance to win that division there, and I'm going

(23:19):
to be very curious to see how things unfold there
in the Central and everywhere in the National League. Gear
over the ballots of the season, and I'll.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Be insider John Paul Morosi with us the Jason Smithson
with Mike Carmon. All Right, JP, we're getting close to
one of those big benchmark days, right a Memorial Day,
fourth of July, Labor Day. We always take stock of
Major League Baseball, what we've seen so far, what it
means for the future. Let me ask you this right now,
the team and individual that has been the biggest surprise

(23:47):
for you this season. What team has been the biggest
surprise for you this season? And then what individual player
has been the biggest surprise, either positive or negative. Team,
biggest surprise, player, biggest surprise.

Speaker 7 (24:00):
Biggest surprise, Texas Rangers. They've got a three game lead
right now in the American League West, and that is
a very impressive lead. At this point. I did not
think they'd be the first place team. I thought at
least Houston or Seattle would still be there. The Mariners
are six and a half games back actually of the

(24:21):
Texas Rangers. So I would say the Rangers most surprising
in the positive sense. Disappointed in the White Sox. I
really thought they were going to be better. And then
in terms of the the players who have surprised, I'm
seeing more superstars struggle than I thought we'd see. Korea

(24:44):
now has an injury issue to deal with with his
foot ankle. It appears with the Twins. I'm a little surprised.
Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but I'm just surprised
that this issue came up so quickly after the Mets
and Giants deals did not happen. I'm just surprised that
it's already an element here in the month of May.

(25:04):
Trey Turner off to a slow start with the Phillies.
Hearing some booze there that surprised me a little bit.
Julio Rodriguez not being necessarily an All Star producer this year.
That's a surprise, especially coming off the way the Mariners
played last season. So there's a few names for you,
but in general, surprising to see some major names that

(25:26):
signed huge contracts struggling a bit early on in the season.
And maybe I should add most of all, the lack
of power from jose A Brahw. I still cannot figure
that one out, Mike. I know you watched them play
a lot in Chicago. I thought we'd see a lot
more power from jose Ah Brey this season.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Well, I think when he came to town and everybody
gathered around, they did everything.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
They could to steal every bit of energy that he had.
He was feed like a king. You would have thought
it was a visiting dignitary JP, the way everybody wanted
a few minutes of his time in the low media
and former teammates hovering around him at all turns, So
I think they sapped his energy. Either that or it

(26:07):
raises other questions about the planet Houston.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
About Houston, that this is a team that is going
to get better even as the bray you struggles with
Altuve coming back I'm really curious to see what role
Mauricio Dubon will have moving forward, because I think Dusty
did a great job of putting him in a really
favorable role there during the course of the season, So

(26:33):
I think Dubon has to have some consistent at bats there.
I'm still a huge believer in Tucker and Bregman. They'll
get Brandy back at some point. The Astros are going
to be heard from later on in the year, and
I think it might end up being the Rangers in
the Astros as being the great race down the stretch

(26:54):
in the American League West, And how cool was it
to see those two teams good at the same time.
It's really in the case that way. The Rangers had
their way about a decade ago, and then the Astros
got good, and they've never really had that many compelling
penn and races Texas team versus Texas team, and that
could change this season.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Yeah, JP, I was a smart ass with the embroidery response,
but the truth is in his splits. The last couple
of years he's gotten off the terrible starts. Okay, it's
like three straight years that it's been awful.

Speaker 7 (27:25):
I will hope he bounces back because he is one
of the classiest people in the game.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
You can fall him on Twitter at John Morosi. That
has had John Morosi, John Paul always appreciate your time.
Enjoy the rest of the Saanley Cup playoffs. We'll talk
to you more baseball next week, my friend. Have fun.

Speaker 7 (27:41):
Thanks so much, guys, having wonderful night.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
All the best, Be great, buddy, Tim. All right, it's there.
It is Rangers big surprise. And here's the thing. The
Rangers haven't really gotten anything from de Grom. That's the surprising.
Well not surprising that he's not been pitching, because I
told you that's gonna happen. A lot of people knew that.
But the fact that they got and they're still in
first place.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Well, you know, some we'll see if it's sustainable because,
like we like, he brings up a bray you but
you've also got you know, Alvarezez twelve homers, forty six RBI.
He's doing his part, but their offense overall hasn't been clicking.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
In Houston, the Angels, we know what they are. Seattle
now that.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Everybody's on board, underperforming and the A's are the A's,
I mean they got a guy that's gonna steal a
hundred bases, which is great and stolen bases back in baseball.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
But they got ten.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Wins, so I mean you're right off one. How many
of those can we win? I mean, realistically we can.
We can we take fourteen to those.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Let's go Twitter, or now about a Fresco Mike gets

(29:03):
but let's find out right now, Monzy.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (29:06):
There's no hockey, no baseball, no sports.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
Tonight's no sports, just.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Waiting for the Celtics and the heat tomorrow. That's what
is your favorite song off of that aforementioned red Hot Chilis.
That's where we're at in this sports night, because I mean,
did you see the picture that's now going viral of
Jason Smith from his soul leaving his body after the
Hurricanes were vanquished.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
Yeah, yeah, or I.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
His face also when completely white when you started saying
the names of the songs because he was.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
That was pretty funny, guys.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
The eight seeded Panthers are headed to the Stanley Cup Final.
They beat the Hurricanes four to three was the final score.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Matthew Kutchuk two goals in the victory.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
So they're either gonna face the Golden Knights or the Stars.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Which Game four is tomorrow Thursday, eight pm Eastern time.
Vegas leads the series three zero.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Okay, let's get let's get okay.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Can I tell you about NFL?

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Well, that was pretty good. You sounded like Super Mario.
That's pretty good in the video game. Did like you said? No, No,
she sounded like like when your car gets struck by
lightning and super Mario.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
Got it.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
I know exactly what you're talking about by lightning.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
A little NFL news then, for ye.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
This was tweeted late tonight from ESPN that the Patriots
are losing two days of voluntary organized team activities due
to a violation of off season rules.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
What that violation is, we don't know.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
Lamar Jackson has arrived at ravens OTAs and apparently he
was extremely happy with this first practice with Baltimore's new
offensive coordinator, Todd Monkin. They asked him, what's this offense
gonna allow him to showcase in this upcoming season, and
he said, less running and more throwing. Now, running back
Adrian Peterson, who hasn't played since twenty twenty one, says

(30:58):
he mentally has not retired and that he's ready to
play again, but if he doesn't play this upcoming year,
then he will officially retire. And Patrick Mahomes gave ESPN
his top five quarterbacks of all time. At number one,
he put Tom Brady at number two, Peyton Manning a
number three, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Yeah, Buddy, I saw that list.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
At number four, Joe Montana and.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Number five Aaron Rodgers, Yeah, Ken Marino or John l.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
Two games going on still in Major League Baseball, the
Angels are beating the Red Sox seven to two, show Hey.
Otani hit his twelfth homer of the season, followed by
Mike Trout's twelfth homer of the season. But not just that,
he officially passed Joe DiMaggio on the all time list
for home runs with number three hundred and sixty two.

(31:47):
The A's and the Mariners were scoreless. But then the
Mariners scored five runs in the fourth inning, and now
they're beating the A's five zero. They're about to start
this seventh inning in Seattle. Okay, back to you guys,
Thanks a bunch monch.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
I appreciate it. Tonight show brought you by Progressive. Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. You get a multi policy
disc out by combining your motorcycle, boat atv RV and
more all your protection in one plays Bundle and Save
at Progressive dot com. Well, if Lebron James does decide
he does not want to play for the Lakers this season, okay,

(32:20):
he could retire, he could take time off, or you
could say I want to go someplace else. Wait till
I tell you where the best place for him to
go is. And you're gonna go No, no, no, oh,
wait a minute, Oh you really might be right about that.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Please, No, you know exactly where this is going. I'm
going for a walk. It's not going to I'm gonna
go eat a sandwich.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Not Cleveland. That's coming up next right here. Ent Cleveland,
which that's coming up next to tirec dot Com Studios,
Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon Live from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Now,
we're all waiting for Lebron James to let us know
what his plans are. Right Where am I going to
the future? Am I gonna retire? Am I gonna take
time off?

Speaker 7 (33:21):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (33:21):
They of the future. I want to play with Bronny,
Yes all of these things, yes, yes, yes, But are
you gonna go to Blaze Pizza near Jason's house? Let's yes.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Let's just say for a second, little Daniel Brian in
the system, nice.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Lebron's choice is to leave the Lakers. Let's say that's
the trick. If we haven't gone over that I retire
or I take time off? Will say he wants to
leave the Lakers. Okay, I want to leave. I want
to go. The Lakers say we're done with you, and
you're waiting and you're holding his hostage for the last
We will let You Go. Where is the best fit

(33:58):
for Lebron James. You know what I'm gonna say, and
you're gonna have to agree with me. He's gonna go
back there again? Why go back to Cleveland? Why would
always go back? You can always go home? Hey, remember
when bon Jovi said it in a song A TJ
who says you can't go home, just find me one
of the Okay, it's all right, it's all right. So

(34:20):
and Jennifer Nettles, now you sing, uh, the best place
for him to go is the Knicks. Just I know,
I know, I know. Just wait no, wait wait wait,
just wait wait wait wait wait, nope, wait wait wait
wait wait wait, all of you wait, all of you wait, stop,
even you Monsie stopped looking at me. All of you stop.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Number one.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
He's staring you down, number one. He has always had
an affinity from Madison Square Garden. Oh wait, yeah, everybody
else he says, oh yeah. But he talks about it.
He talks about all the low lights. I've always wanted
to play in MSGR that is an itch. That of
the things he hasn't scratched yet in his NBA career.
That's got to be at the top of the list.
He's played twenty years, He's played a lot of games.

(35:02):
If I could play, yeah, but if I could play
as a home player and get cheered in madis because
because they would love him in New York, you know,
get cheered there. He gets cheered in LA. But he
hasn't gotten the hut or oh sure, yeah, hey, come
play for it. He's always wanted to play there. But
think about this, Think about the fit of Lebron with

(35:24):
the Knicks, because what do the Knicks have. The Knicks
have a pretty good core. Jalen Brunson's their best player.
They have a pretty good bench when it's health. Look,
you had a couple of guys who were hurt this year,
Mega Josh Hart. You have a couple of guys that
were hurt. But you don't really need another big superstar,
but you may need somebody to come in that can
play small forward, can play power forward, can play down

(35:47):
low when you need to. And Lebron coming in not
having to score thirty a game, can play all of
those positions whatever he needs to, and they suddenly would
be a much better team. They wouldn't have to worry
about the pressure as much because Lebron is used to
the pressure. He could lead without having to be someone
that scored thirty points a night, because you can lead.

(36:08):
We've seen how good Brunson is and that if it's
something where you trade Julius Randle, you trade Julius Randall,
big deal. You can find somebody else to not be
there during the playoffs. The best fit for Lebron you're
talking about a contender to win a championship where he
can assimilate pretty easy, where he can go to a
big market, where you can go he's always wanted to
play where he'd be motivated to play where he If
he plays well, the Knicks play well, he say hey,

(36:29):
you're drafting Browny next year. Okay, fine, we'll do it.
The Knicks are the best fit because the Knicks wouldn't
have to upset the Apple cart to bring Lebron in,
and Lebron could come in and not have to be
that guy. There's very few contending teams where you would
have to where you would add Lebron. You would and
you would not say, okay, go be the guy you
were now. The Knicks are one of those teams. Hey
come in and just be what you've been over the

(36:51):
course of the past this year, because the Lakers are
best when you're not scoring thirty five and you're scoring
twenty three to twenty four with ten assists and ten
reba that when they're the best, and that's what you
can do on this team. He would slide right into
the next Well.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
It gets him out of conference. The one big thing
is that. And yes, you can transfer wherever you want.
And I mean, I guess you would start saying Syracuse
is Brownie. James has committed to play at least one
year at USC, So you got that going on in
the background, and the family unit stays together and all
those things here. So your New York thing, I don't

(37:28):
think he can pull a Seacrest like he did for years,
you know, working out of La a bunch and then
flying back to New York to hang on a couch
with Ripa.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
That would be Simon Cowell did that too. He would
fly back and forth from England. Yeah, no, dude to
LA that's like nine thousand miles everywhere.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
I do think Lebron's pulling that one off at this point,
So I think that might be a little far fetched.
I like it in theory, right, going back to our
old decade decade old in theory that work we practice.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, but where where else? Where else is he gonna go?
There's no place else? Well, he's not gonna go to Milwaukee. Right,
he's not gonna go to Boston. Right, He's not gonna
go place He's not gonna He's not mean there is
a song please come to bos He did not know
if the Lakers are happy with him going anywhere. It
would be out of the West and into the Eastern Conference, right,
so other teams Denvery's not going there. He's not gonna

(38:21):
be at Golden State, not gonna do any of these things.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Could be a bull They don't want any of the
stuff they got going on.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah, but how close are the Bulls to be in contender?
Like Lebron wants to win, and the Knicks are much
closer to winning than the Bulls. Total about this, The
Knicks can offer you a chance to win more than
ninety percent of the rest of the teams in the NBA.
I think you're depending out what comes back the other way.
I think the Bulls could contend, so there it would
you know, what else is coming back the other Way

(38:47):
Cartwright and kerr And and Horace Grant. They did have
a couple. Let's go back, bj Armstrong, Rodman Wennington.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
You got Brunton and a bunch of guys that shrieking
big time, and we've seen time and time again.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Do it. What else he got? Doug Collins is gonna coach?
Who else is coming back? What else? What else do
you have there? Come on? What else is coming the
other way?

Speaker 2 (39:14):
You were crying?

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Now all of a sudden, you're trying to prop these
guys up like they're a bunch of superstars. Paxson coming
out the talk in big moments. Julius Randalls did it
multiple times to coming. Yeah, let's bring him back. Yeah,
we did it with D'Angelo Russell. Look how well that worked.
Let's break back Julius Randon.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
All those guys that you're trying to propose, all those
guys here with that, Yeah, you're you're the one trying
to prop the bulls Is contenders. We got more on
this coming up. Fox
