(00:34):
well dressed Hobo Rogers. Now, we talked about Aaron Boone
getting suspended not managing the Yankees tonight after a slew
of ejections of the past ten games, has been projecked
four times this year, three in the last ten games.
Do we need to hug him like we hugged Scottie
Pippin the night? No? Oh, come on, we gotta get
a Scotty. Come on, man, Scotty's too funny. Scott here,

(00:55):
the hottest taken the history of hot takes. Sure he's
melting down microphones in the history of hot Take Scottie Pippin.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I'm working on an AI Scottie Pippen with a flamethrower.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
You know, No, I don't think you can bring up
AI in a positive sense. I don't think you're allowed
to do that. Every time I bring up AI, it's
the end of civilization. Do not bring up as the
do not bring up Leonard Bernstein. Nothing, can't do it.
So and Aaron Boone said, Hey, I I hope it's
not costing me, costing my team. It is. It's in

(01:28):
some way, shape or form. It is because umpires are
not giving you either a benefit of the doubt for something,
because you can't possibly go out there and piss off
an umpire and not have it come back and affect
you in some way, shape or form. And it's not
that I can quantify it by saying, well, the next
close call is going to go this way, But yeah,

(01:49):
there's are gonna be bang bang plays that maybe you
don't get because hey, in the back of the umpire's mind,
he's pissed off at you because you keep coming out
and arguing. And I'll tell you this just from last week. Uh,
Now you know I coach, I coach softball, and we're
we're an all star prep now for for the Big
State for Big State tournament. And so we have a
game and I coach first base, and I'm coaching first base,

(02:11):
and I will you coach first base? You just send everybody, no,
just go, just go, just go, just go make it
make a throw. Come on. So I coach first base,
and you know, we coach first or third depending where
you either you're in front of your dugout or the
other team's dug out. And tonight I was. We were
the home team, so I was in front of of
the visiting dugout. And I know the coach a little bit,
big dude, big guy, and he you know, he's a

(02:32):
really fun guy. We talk a lot. Hey, how's it going,
how's it going to hear this? This, this, this, And
so the beginning of the game comes and I didn't
see this because I was looking at our player and
we're you know, looking at the signs and everything. But
apparently the pitcher of the other of the other team
rubbed the ball on the ground and then put it
in her glove, and the umpire time out. That's a ball,

(02:55):
and that's a warning. And it was like and I
didn't see it, and the other coacher We're looking at
each other like what happened? When what happened? And the
umpire says, the umpire says, you rub the ball on
the ground, dirt. You can't do that. And the coach
comes out of the dugout, the big guy, big big coach, Dugget,
he comes out and he goes, he goes ump ump.
In the USA softball rules, you are allowed to rub
the ball on the ground. You are not allowed to

(03:15):
do it in non USA. And he does this whole
thing and he's saying that to the jump and the
ump just looking at him, and he just says, can't
do that. Can't rub the ball on the ground. You
can't alter the bait. I can't alter the softball. He
is but in rules you can do that. He's standing
there and he and he just says, that's a ball.
And so he goes back into the dugout. Basically, this
is how I'm calling it. Right, Well, you can still
and still you can't because you because you you can,

(03:35):
you can alter the ball with it. It's like scuffing
the ball. So what what I think what the rule
was supposed to be is that you can rub your
hand in the dirt and then you're handle the ball.
You can't do the ball on the on the on
the dirt because there could be a foreign object there
or something that you know, who knows, but have attack
in your glove, on on you on your shoe. So
the next couple of calls that we get ball strike

(03:56):
calls are iffy and they both go our way, and
and he's a little mad about that. We score a
couple of runs in the inning, and then I, you know,
I leave and come back, and you know, a couple
of innings go by, and it's a close game. And
he said, uh, he goes, man, he goes. I really
wanted those calls in the in the the second inning.
And I said, yeah, he goes, he goes. I don't know,
you think, uh he goes, he goes. You think uh?

(04:16):
He was, I mean anything. He was mad at me
for uh for uh when I questioned his call, and
I said, I don't know, he goes, no, But what
do you think? And I said, do I think it
was a good idea that you came out and and
and told him what the rule was in front of everybody.
Probably not? And he goes, Oh. I said, I don't know.
If we got calls for that, but why would you
why would you put that out there?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Why would you put that out there? You know, He's like, like,
we had one enough weeks ago. I don't know my
daughter's soccer team. They're warming up and they're they're getting
to the long ball, right, You're like, you're playing catching
now you're stage. Referees are kind of wandering and one
of them got kind of hit in the back of
the neck. They're gone, well, there was a call wait

(04:58):
in the game where I'm like, evidently that one his
head now, isn't it. As he's walking off the field,
I say that to him and he just kind of
looks at me.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Go and then he double birted. You does yeah, I
mean because it was off of made one's foot and
she launched it and it hit ends him hitting him,
and it's like and she goes and she apologized whatever,
but later it gets a call made. I'm just she
kind of looked at him like he just walks up
through her the yellow just right away she puts in

(05:26):
her face. I thought it was gonna happen before the game.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, you know, you're trying to intimidate the referees, you know,
they gotta go to the chiropractor next week.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
In fact, is going right to Red. You're going right
to Red for that. It's gonna be one hundred and
fifty dollars visit to the Chiropractor'll fix that back.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
But yeah, tell telling the official the rules of the game.
I was like, I had a feeling we're gonna get
some calls.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
After might have gone and asked for a quick conference.
And again it's not something that umpires that umpires do
consciously but subconsciously the bag. But yeah, no, because you
have an image of you know, I don't this guy
yelling at everything it happens that way.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
I wouldn't do that, would have done it.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
So better you than me. We're gonna head to Vegas.
Coming out in about fifteen minutes. Find out the latest
odds for the NBA Playoffs where DeAndre Hopkins could wind
up because now he is free. DeAndre Hopkins, now former
Cardinals wide receiver, let go by the Cardinals today. They

(06:28):
tried to trade him over the course of the offseason,
but his thirty million dollar price tag for this year
was a little bit too much, so they ate twenty
two million dollars in salary. They saved eight million dollars
against the cap by releasing him. And when this story
broke today, there's a difference between something that's a big
headline and a big story. This is a big headline
because DeAndre Hopkins for a long time one of the

(06:49):
best receivers of the National Football League. But the way
he was released today and so many people on social media,
all the Chiefs have to get him and the Bills.
You would have thought that Holmes got cut, We're done,
we're moving on, moving on. I want to I want
to bring Chad Henny back out of retirement, give him
a chance. That was the reaction was, oh, DeAndre hobby.

(07:10):
I know this is kind of bit of a hot take,
but are we sure he's still a star? Are we
sure he's still good? I would just have met interest
on DeAndre Hopkins because it's been three years since the
guy was good. He had injury problems two years ago,
he was suspended last year, he's thirty years old? Is
he still a star? And you can't just look at
video online posted from five years ago and go, oh,

(07:33):
if we're getting this guy, we're gonna be great. Well,
there's a reason why that video is from five years
ago when Cam Newton got signed by the Patriots. What
did you see, Oh, if the Patriots are getting this
Cam Newton, look out like, show me a video from
twenty fifteen when he was the MVP. This is seven
years later. He's not any good. He's done. But that's
the reaction for DeAndre Hopkins is that people still have

(07:56):
the opinion that I remember when he was great and
he was injured and he was suspended. So maybe he's
still great. Maybe, but I'm not sure about that. I mean,
he might still be good, but I'm not going crazy
to go get him. My interest in him would be
mad if he wanted to come to my team for
one year for a few million dollars and maybe he
slots in somewhere. Yeah, okay, but three years, thirty five million,

(08:20):
whatever it's gonna be to get him twenty five million
dollars guaranteed. But no, I'm sorry. He's not that great.
And if he was great, if he was still great,
a team would have found a way to giving up
next to nothing fitting him in this year with his
thirty million dollars salary. Because you're not giving anything up,
they said, listen, give us a seventh round pick, give
us anything, that's thirty million dollars if you give us anything,

(08:42):
or they would have found a way to give a
draft pick and they would have figured out the money.
If he was that valuable, if he was still an
absolute superstar for a year and nothing to give up,
somebody would have got him. If Lamar Jackson was available
for one year and all you to get was a
seventh round pick, there would have been one hundred teams
lining up for Lamar Jackson this year, right, So, just
so you know, the fact Lamar Jackson wanted five years

(09:04):
a whole bunch of guaranteed money, that scares teams away.
But if you said one year, thirty million and you
don't have to give anything up, yeah, teams would have
done that. You had DeAndre Hopkins here, and any team
could have got him. Any team could have found him,
could have found a way to fit him in. They didn't.
So that tells you that maybe he's not quite a star.
And the fact that he's sitting there now and you're

(09:26):
watching fan bases say let's go get it, let's go
get him, go get him, go get him, get I'm like,
you gotta just stop for a second and realize maybe
he's not the same guy. There's three years. Just because
you haven't really watched him do anything in three years,
because he's been with the Cardinals, doesn't mean he's still
a star player. He's thirty, he's got an injury in
a suspension history. Yeah, I'm just kind of mad. And

(09:47):
DeAndre Hopkins, Yeah, he's the guy that he's a stat aggregator.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
And I hate to do that because the talented guy
when he's on his game. But for his career, thirteen
point two yards per reception. Again breaker even in those
big years with Deshaun Watson, you're looking at fourteen yards
of reception. Not a lot of big game breaking plays,
a lot of those hey sit down, make a play,

(10:12):
one move game on right piled up receptions had five
years of at least ninety six receptions. So you can
move the chains with them and in the right system. Maybe,
as we talked with Jason Cole last hour, maybe it
fits right. He becomes the guy in the low post
kind of like we talked about Darren Waller's situation, how

(10:33):
it wasn't with the Raiders of Hey, I'm catching the
ball all over field, but they don't call.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
My number in the red zone.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
DeAndre Hopkins is kind of a little bit different because
two years ago did have eight touchdowns with the Cardinals
in that limited time. Going back to twenty twenty, his
first year with team, six touchdowns but one hundred and
fifteen catches. So maybe there's something to be tapped there,
but not at that exorbitant price tag. Well we're talking
thirty million dollars. I mean, that's you're coming in a
list a number one. And just because the Cardinals signed

(11:02):
it into a bad deal doesn't mean someone else is
the next, you know, taking the hand off of that
baton going well, let's continue it. No, it was a
it was a bad contract that didn't work. The suspension
obviously clutters things a bunch, and you've got an organization
as a whole that's a in no man's line because
you've got a quarterback, you have no idea when he's
going to play.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
And even if so, how good is he, what's his dedication?
All of those things all positives that they've seen the
last couple of weeks with the coaching staff and Murray
and everything, that looks like they're creating a bridge there
in Arizona. But that doesn't concern DeAndre Hopkins anymore. He
wanted out, and well now he's out, we'll see where
he agrees to be the number two or number three

(11:46):
option in an offense, because once again, eight to ten
million and maybe an option and maybe some incentive money,
because I mean, you can't go top flight one.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Who's got the money? Oh at this point, no shuffling
cash and whatever to try to bring him.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
If he was great, they would have done it already.
They would have found given up a couple of draft
picks and they would have fought with the Cardinals as
to how much they were gonna eat, and instead you
got a whole lot of nothing and is dumping earlier today.
I just yeah, I'm just men, I'm just mad. And
the teams he's already been mentioned with, like Buffalo, I'm like, okay,
I could see him sliding with Buffalo with you know,

(12:21):
he's a number two behind Stefan Diggs. You know, like
they have Gabe Davis and they they just drafted. Okay,
that's fine. You want to go to Baltimore. You get
a lot of wide receivers there. You drafted Za Flowers,
you have with Royal in camp. They would and that
now that you said we didn't have enough wide receivers,
all we have now is wide receivers in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Could you just see the GM in the front office
strutting like they're Vince McMahon to the podium.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
You wanted wide receivers? Oh yeah, I heard was I
got no wide receivers? Look at them all. So that's
where I would go. But to make him a number one,
to think that he's no, not happening, And again, look
that's the best best scenario, like if things broke entirely
that way, But is that where you're Hell, no, I
don't have I don't have zero interest. It's met it's

(13:05):
eh really no.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Right, if you're one of those teams that got mentioned
right away, you're a contender and you have people on staff. Now,
Baltimore is just an interesting mix because you're banking on
Odell Beckham Junior coming back after missing time. You're banking
on the breakthrough of these wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
He's another guy. Oh we got Odell. How good can
he really be? He's injured, he's older. I mean, he
hasn't been this guy in three years.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Do you get a couple of flashes but is it
going to be consistent? I mean, I hope so it's
better for the game, right, I mean, it'd be exciting
to see that breakthrough. But in Baltimore, who do you
trust right now? In your receiving corps Mark Andrews, Right,
you're hopeful for Bateman, You're hopeful that Flowers coming in
is going to be an impact guy, and that Odell
is healthy. But say Hopkins lands there, you got nothing

(13:51):
but a giant bunch of question marks, like you're playing
a Mario Brothers game.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Then Dent d well addressed hobo instead of the NFL
on Fox Thingam we're just gonna get that instead. That's
not a bad way to go. I'm surprised they didn't
buy time. In week one, Twitter it out about a

DeAndre Hopkins? Let's find out the odds of certain things happening.
We went out to Vegas right now for our insider,
longtime front of the show, former odds maker Caesars. Check
out his Bet the Board podcast. See him on CBS.
He's Todd Furman. Todd, what's happening, buddy?

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Not a whole heck of a lot, gentleman. Hopefully you
boys are doing well.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
All I'm doing well. I gotta figure the odds of
the Jets winning the Super Bowl right now? Or what
are they even money? I mean, are you even taking
bets anymore? Or is it too much of a sure thing?

Speaker 5 (16:19):
You know? Not quite? But I mean, with all the
talk of Aaron Rodgers about trying to cement his legacy
being a member of the Jets and saying all the
right things to endear himself to the New York Comedia, it
wouldn't shock me at all if the Jets went off
as a five dollars favorite to get their name on
the Lombardi Trophy by the time the season rolled around.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah, buddy, look at that. Yeah, buddy, just like that, Yes,
just like that, all that money coming in. Because Jason's
all excited. I told him he's already got a calf
injury just running onto a field.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yeah, I'm very interested to see how this experiment works out.
If he goes out there and doesn't perform Game War
or Game two. Let's see how fast the New York
comedia turns on Aaron, because we know he is always
a charming individual, captivating in every capacity and sense of
the word when it comes to dealing with media types
and making sure he endears himself to a new city.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Well wait, wait, wait, a couple on Todd Game one,
Game two. It's gonna be the end of the first
quarter of the opening game, if they don't have any
touchdowns on the board, it's gonna be it for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
That's a very good point. I mean, I guess it
all hinges on the opening series. If it's not a
good game script from Robert Stalin company, all hell is
going to break loose.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Now we know he is going to see the Taylor
Swift Show, So that's all finding good. But riddle me
this Todd Furman, with so much in the offing for say,
the San Francisco forty nine Ers, if we stay with
Super Bowl odds right now, that they're so heavily wagered upon,
that they're going to stumble into quarterback bliss once again,
does that confuse you at all? Or does that just

(17:43):
make sense based on history.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
I mean, when you look at the forty nine Ers,
they've done it with a variety of different guys under center. Now,
Jimmy Garoppolo's win loss records significantly better than a lot
of the other quarterbacks they've plugged in. So I'm not
gonna say it's as simple as rinse and repeat and
they're going to be just fine. But at the same time,
when you're looking at this forty nine Ers team, clearly
they've de emphasized the position. Sam Darnold comes in on
a one year deal and they'll hope that he's able

(18:06):
to compete with brock Perty for the starting job alongside
Trey Lance. But it's a lot more to do with
what this team has in the backfield, some underrated wide
receivers and of course a very talented defense where they
went out there and tried to bolster that side of
the football. So that's the main reason why. And when
you look at the NFC from top to bottom, not
exactly like a murderer's row by any stretch of the imagination.
And if they were in the AFC having to go

(18:28):
up against some truly elite quarterbacks, a very different dynamic.
But when you try and stack up some of the
better teams in the NFC, you can find holes and
flaws in just about all of them.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
All right, Todd, Right now, big big NFL news of
the day, DeAndre Hopkins let go by the Cardinals. Lots
of teams can sign him. I think he's a little overrated,
but lots of teams are gonna want him. Who do
you have as a favorite right now to get DeAndre Hopkins?

Speaker 5 (18:49):
I mean, I know the betting market suggests that it's
going to be Dallas or Kansas City. I'd look a
little further down the list myself and try and make
a case for the Buffalo Bills. I think at this
point his career, DeAndre Hopkins isn't worried about getting you know,
that ridiculous paycheck or a ton of guaranteed money. He's
gonna try and identify a spot where he can thrive
in a pass happy offense. He of course circulated some
of the quarterbacks that he'd like to play with or

(19:10):
play for going forward. And when you try and figure
out where these teams are looking at a weapon, I
think Buffalo makes a ton of sense to pair him
up alongside Stefon Diggs and see what kind of chemistry
they can build with Josh.

Speaker 3 (19:21):

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Todd. Drifting over to the NBA.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Now, we've got a legit series three to two. Back
to Miami for Game six and the Boston Celtics after
a couple of three point barrages three point favorites on
the road for Game six, does playoff. Jimmy make an
appearance here.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
You know a lot of optimism obviously, Boston stays off
elimination in Game four. They follow it up with a
resounding effort in Game five, and we'll see exactly what
the Heats can do to kind of CounterPunch in this spot.
When you look at the series price, Miami is still
a short favorite at minus a dollar forty five. It's
a far cry from where they were at the top
of the market. I had nearly a one to ten
favorite when they had that three to zero series lead.

(20:23):
There's no doubt Jimmy Butler is going to have to
do a little bit more and we'll see if Gabe
Vincent can be good to go dealing with that lower
body injury. I'm not sure what kind of contributions they'll make,
but we've seen the Celtics team when they're pushed into
a corner. They did it against the seventy six ers.
They've rallied a bit here, but this will be their
stiffest test. I'm not sure they're going to shoot the
ball as well from beyond the arc as they have
combined over the last two games. And if shots aren't

(20:45):
falling from deep, do they have that secondary pitch remains
to be seen. I've personally would lean towards Miami plus three,
like the game under the total, but haven't invested in
it yet.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
All right, So I've said this last night. I think
in my Big Bowl prediction for Game six, what kind
of odds would I get a if I wanted to
bet Jimmy Butler forty five points or more?

Speaker 5 (21:05):
You know, if you shop around. You know, some of
the newer books they'll take lower limits on it, but
you can find all sorts of interesting numbers to go over,
you know, inflated numbers, so to speak, with some different
price tags attached. And I think if you were looking
for Jimmy to kind of flirt with that fifty mark,
you'd be able to shop around and find him in
that eight or nine to one range at least at minimum.
Probably want to look for something a little bit more aggressive,

(21:26):
knowing his over under for points sits in the high twenties.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Look at you Playoff Jump tom getting play Off Jimmy Tomorrow.
We're getting Playoff Jimmy Tomorrow. Night Mark My words, were
you salty? You didn't get the sweet?

Speaker 5 (21:39):
I mean, you know, when you look at the way
that things have gone, I think we need all the
extra playoff games we can get so the nights, of course,
going to overtime, not being able to close out Dallas.
We'll see if they have a little bit better luck
playing at home. But I'm not sure it's as simple
as showing up, putting together a little bit more inspired
effort and thinking that Dallas is going to roll over
and die. When you don't have a chance to put
that final in the team's coffin. You give them that

(22:01):
little bit of hope. And this is still a Dallas
Stars team that took professional money before the series started. Sure,
they're down their team captain, and we'll see exactly what
they have in store. I think all the pressure in
the world on the nights and it's imperative they get
off to a quick start in the first ten minutes
rather than letting Dallas believe that they're one step closer
to getting back to even ground in this particular series.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Vegas Insider Todd Furman our guest to Jason Smith Show
with Mike Harmon, live from the Tirec dot Com studios.
All right, so when it comes to Lebron James and
the big cryptic message he put out there earlier this
week that hey, I got to take a look at
things and see if I want to retire, maybe what
do you see have we have? We have the retire,
we have to take a year off. We have I'm
going to force a trade. What do you have as

(22:43):
the most likely option there for Lebron? James?

Speaker 5 (22:46):
Lebron's not going anywhere. I think this is as much
a leverage play that comes out of frustration, and you
can understand it. I mean, he tried to put the
team on his back in Game four, didn't really get
contributions from the supporting cast, and it feels like it's
year in, year out since he's been a member of
the Lakers. How they can surround him with players it'll
cater to his skill set. That's a lot different now
than it would have been when Lebron was in his

(23:06):
late twenties. I think it's a little bit of a
fool's aeron trying to figure out if he'll be a
member of the Knicks or the seventy six ers. Knowing
that Brown he's committed to USC He's always talked about
wanting to play with his son. I don't think he
takes a year off. I think he stays in Laici.
Isn't a chance to see as much usc basketball as
the NBA schedule allows. And it's a man speaking, you know,
when he's at rock bottom, knowing he's been swept out

(23:26):
of the playoffs by a Nuggets team that was significantly
better and most facets of the game.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Yeah, but he did go a good job of making
sure that we talked about anything but them getting swept
in that series against the Nuggets. And Michael Malone is
still hopping mad that we're not talking about his Nuggets.
So how badly does these early exits and early finishes
do playoff series todd How badly does that affect the

(23:51):
throughput of cash for the books there in Vegas?

Speaker 5 (23:54):
And it's not good, especially when you have a team
like the Lakers that gets bounced out early that are
always going to be a public draw. More games you get,
the better off you are, especially as we trend toward
the dog days of summer, where baseball is a little
bit more than an afterthought. You know, it's a lot
more parlay fodder than it is something that really attracts
action from the recreational better on a night in, night
out basis, though, of course, look to get involved, but

(24:15):
it's nowhere near the betting handle that you see on
the NBA playoffs, especially when you have Markie, Superstars and
some of the biggest brands in the game still vying
for a seat at the table in the conference finals.
And I think if you ask the sports books now,
they're thrilled they're getting an extra couple of games out
of this Celtics Heat series, and there's no doubt they
would love one more to have it played on Memorial
Day on Monday.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
You can fall him on Twitter at Todd Furman, that
is at Todd Furman. Check them out on CBS the
bet the Board podcast. Todd as always, buddy, appreciate it,
my friend. Good luck getting into the Stanley Cup final. Man,
We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen, have a great holiday weekend.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Be good to talk to Todd Firman telling you every
every conference final sweep, sweep, potential sweep, sweet potential sweep.
Got to get an Indy five hundred pick. That's good
job by.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
I was more curious just to see through point, because
I mean, that's that's a lot of money that Lakers
angle to. It certainly lives huge. I mean, so the
Nuggets not only sweeping but vanquishing Lebron James because a
lot of folks bet against him just because well he's
Lebron James.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Well you won an Indy five hundred pick. Right now,
you're lucky, because we're gonna find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports. Steve de Sager has a
minute preview of the Indy five hundred top eight favorites
through eight. Steve, go ahead, what do you got number five?
That number four? Last night?

Speaker 5 (25:39):
One?

Speaker 2 (25:40):
That would be no.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
But I do know that NASCAR is six hundred at Charlotte.
Is this Sunday night on Fox TV? Actually, don't Eastern time.
Pittsburgh Pirates, if it's seven home runs in eight innings
at Seattle, this ties the Pirates franchise record for homers
in the game going back to the eighteen hundreds. Pirates
are leading eleven six at Seattle in the bottom of
the eighth. That is the lone game still going. Yes, Oakland,

(26:04):
we're going back to.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Like before Pie Trainer and wee Willie Keeler, You're going
all the way back to the eighteen hundreds.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
Eighteen ninety four, June sixth, they also hit seven home
runs in a game that's kind of astounished.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
No, man, we got a lot of guys to get it.
We'll probably do this again soon. Yeah, just hang on
on that. Just wait on that. We'll see Oakland.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
A's meanwhile, have lost nine in a row. Houston beat
him five to two. The A's offense had five hits
fifteen strikeouts. Miami and Boston of each one on the road,
and the Mets as well. Mets and Max schers Or
won five two at Colorado, Francisco Lindora homer and four
RBIs victories for Toronto three one at Minnesota and Washington,
which won twelve ten at Kansas City. Nationals led nine

(26:48):
to two after scoring eight times in the top of
the six. Luis Garcia then at six for six at
the plate. The Giants won fifteen to one at Milwaukee.
Giants with runners in scoring position went nine for twenty.
Philadelphia a six to four winner at Atlanta, Texas twelve
to two over Baltimore. Corey Seeger hit a grand slam.
Tampa Bay's home record now twenty five and five after

(27:10):
beating the Dodgers and pitcher Noah Cindergard nine to three.
LA's Mac Munsey went oh for five. Max Monthy's batting
one ninety eight at the moment, San Diego a five
to one winner over the Yankees in New York. Yankee
manager Aaron Boone was serving a one game suspension. He
was kicked out again last night for the fourth time
this season.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
I think he actually got kicked out again tonight, even
though he was suspended.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
Probably got kicked out of his living room.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
The way things have gone the last ten games. He
was watching the game from the club. I said, get
out there. Why you're not, Simon Cale, stop complaining about
their singing.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
He led the major leagues with nine ejections last year,
so something to shoot just got ejected. White Sox with
the w people. Yes, Tim Anderson four hits twelve.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Three, let's said nine in the last twelve games. Were
all right?

Speaker 6 (27:56):
All singles for uh Tim and fight again well a
month and a half twelve three the final at Detroit,
Lance Lynn, who Zra was over six, was the winning pitcher.
He pitched to six innings. As for the NFL news, Yes,
Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and the Bears
will start demolishing Arlington Park Racetrack next week, where they

(28:17):
hope to build a new stadium. The live golf event
in Washington, d C. Has Phil Mickelson forty fourth out
of forty eight golfers currently shot seventy four. Bubba Watson
shot seventy six. The man tied for the four stroke lead,
Harold Varner after a first round sixty four.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Back to you, Thank you very much, Steve O. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen Lott
the tirerack dot Com Studios where maybe the best announcement
of the day earlier today, can you guess what it was?
Ted was saying that number one movie all time, Ted
is non. Ted is not no. Ted is not the
number one movie all It's not the best movie to

(28:53):
take place in Boston first. So I want to say thing,
my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There you go, there,
there you go Live drive Friday Friday. You never know
where it's gonna go. I love it. Uh No. The
best news today was not only are we going to
get John Wick five, but we are gonna get John
Wick movies in perpetuity, which means every couple of years

(29:13):
we're gonna get a John Wick movie. Oh my heart
is so full after hearing that news. I mean, you
don't really have to have a lot of story or
a lot of dialogue. Last one was a good story,
not a lot of dialogue, a lot of stare downs.
So as long as you can emote through the eyebrow
rays and everything else, whatever you learn from watching Master Thespian,

(29:37):
Dwayne the Rock, Johnson, et cetera, you've got an opportunity
or the looks that Robert de Niro has been making
famous loathy sixty years on film. Yeah it works. I'm
all in. Look the John Wick movies. Here's your here's
your here's another hot take for the John Wick movies.
Best movie franchise of the two thousands, and I'm throwing

(29:59):
Harry Potter started the two thousands. We had Star Wars movies,
john Wick franchise, best movie franchise since two thousand. The
movie each movie is fantastic, and they just get better,
and bet each one is better than the last one.
And john Wick four was flipping unbelievable. That was good.
I still want to go see ce Sue haven't gotten
to see Okay, that's by the makers of john I'll

(30:21):
even go see things by.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
The makers and we're fantastic. Yeah, sure you can get
a big wide release. That's all right. But John oh
Man john Wick. For getting john Wick five.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
It went from hey, this is the end of the
john Wick franchise and all the money it made. Everyody said, Hey,
let's everybody be coold. Let's just get Keanu in a
room and have a conversation. Hey, dude, do you want
to keep making john Wick movies? All right, let's keep
doing it here.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
And it's it's great, but it's also The sad part
is that from all reports of who Keanu Reeves is
as a man, uh huh, all they need to do
is get him in a room and say, look at
how many hundreds of people have been employed.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Look at look at all the lives.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Look little Johnny, look at all the babies that have
been born, the grandchildren that have been born out of
this family because we had food on their tables and
a roof on their head, because of the success of
these films, because of the work you did.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Keanu.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, baby still needs to get through college.
We still we still got a long way.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
I'll do it. But from all reports.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
That's the type of guy he is, that he would
be like, all right, I can do this because we've
got so much good and family and circumstance that comes
out of it. Very fascinating guy on a million levels.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Uh, and so I.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Think that's the way, the way to his heart and
the way to get you John Wick. Content until you're
dead thirty years from every two years. Hey, as good
as it you name me another franchise where the movie
actually gets better as it goes on.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
It never happens well. I enjoyed the Harry the Caribbean Man,
Oh my good as the time you got to part four,
it was eyes is come on, what is happening?

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Bring him back? He's gonna come back now, come on?
But John Wick just playing guitar right now, he's at that.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
I didn't think it would get better than the than
the fight scene with Common, but no, it got better.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
And three didn't read the Harry Potter books. I was
entertained by the movies, except for the fact that the
last couple there were a lot of scenes I kind
of had to guess what was happening.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
There's a dark this is why John Wick like, I
wish I would have had a filter like on my
Instagram or something. Hey, what's really happening here? Could you
give me the behind the scenes if what the hell
these guys are doing with some lighting. That's why John
Wick is the best movie franchise since two thousand.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Hot Takes So Hot, So Hot, Ken Diesel's gonna come
and kick your ass. Either as Dom Toretto like he
was at the basketball game the other day.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
It's like this guy now believes he's the character in
the way he's starting to or as Groot Twitter it
out about a rescu of Mike gets swollen down. The
Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Carbon coming
up next after a big NFL story today, Are we
gonna see a team ready to tank? And does that
mean a star quarterback could be available for trade? It's

(33:14):
next right here, Jason and Mike Fox. I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. Never seen a pair that had an
ass in him Right now, everybody here is just glued
to the TV's because it's the anchor fight in Anchorman
that are on the TV's in front of us public
television's taking time away from their pledge drive to kick
some ass.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I like that they're running around with the mace. Yeah, well,
all the different weapons have weaponry. We really go through
the ages.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
So we spend a lot of time tonight talking about
the DeAndre Hopkins story getting released by the card. They're
eating twenty two million dollars in salary, they're saving eight million,
and many teams can jump up and go get DeAndre Hobbs.
That's like buying something on sale. You buy four of them,
Well I got thirty percent off. It's no you still
you still paid for four of them? On four of them?

(34:15):
Did you need four of them? So while the look
I'm not a big fan, he's not the same guy.
He's a big headline. People get excited because they think
they look at highlights from twenty nineteen to go, this
is the guy we're getting.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
No, it's not well to oh to the conversation you
and I have been having all night.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
He's a bit of a fixer upper. Yeah, you got
a guy that's been heard. He's at suspension issues. He's thirty.
He hasn't been good in three years. I mean, come on,
I mean, what are you really getting? It's been a minute.
Everybody wants him, but this gets into a different conversation
for a few minutes because now here they could have
kept them and what they're saving is eight million dollars. Umm, Okay,

(34:56):
you've had the draft, you've had free agency. Do you
really need eight million dollars? Or are you tanking? Are
you starting your tanking process? It's a short flight from Arizona.
Watch Kayleb Williams play every Saturday for USC this fall.
Are you tanking? Now? Here's the big question. Not too

(35:17):
long a drive either. If that's the case, the guy
to then watch is Kyler Murray because one of two
things is going to happen. If you said to me,
what's the most likely outcome for Kyler Murray, and there's
three outcomes. He's traded, he plays the Cardinals, he doesn't

(35:43):
come back and play all season, members towar a ACL
he's not gonna be back for a while. I would
say playing for the Cardinals would be the third option
because I'll look at it right now and I'll tell
you're not going to see him all year. We're not
going to see him all year, because you're you're gonna

(36:04):
see his time goes either gonna be oh to seven eight,
and it's wire bringing Kyler back. Let's get him healthy.
We'll get him to practice and then maybe if they
wind up salute, if they wind up with a big
lead on the number one pick, he'll come back and
play a couple of games at the end. But now
I think it's gonna be one of those Yeah, we
know how bad we are. We're starting over. This didn't work.

(36:25):
We gave Kyler Murray a lot of money. I don't
think you see him this season and then with a
number one pick, then you see him get traded for
the draft next year. Certainly would have a lot of value.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
I mean, we do have a couple of quarterbacks right
off the jump between Caleb Williams and Drake May that
folks are excitable about. And I'm sure there'll be a
third or fourth guy because that's just the way the
cycle works. Trader, Yeah, yeah, folks are never happy, but
legitimately there's a looking to be a terrible team, and

(36:58):
that's I'm looking That was even with DeAndre Hopkins running
routes like that wasn't that wasn't changing anything, they're devoid
of top level talent. It's all relative, of course, but
the divisions no joke, right, we assume the Rams are
back to.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Some level of at least mediocrity.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Yeah, they'll be a little bit better Cooper Cup comes back,
Aaron Donald's back.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
You know how good the Niners are without the quarterback?
The Awks are pretty good.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Sure, Seahawks added to their wide receiving corps and Geno
Part two, but they're a roster that looked at right.
They added another running back, so like there's enough skill
position players to prop Gino up right, and so go
back to San Francisco. No matter whose quarterback, Like we
talked with with Todd Furman a few minutes ago, in
the NFC, the roster's good enough at as long as

(37:48):
the quarterback is serviceable, they're gonna win their sharing games.
So for Arizona, yeah, that makes perfect sense. Start looking
at their schedule going up and down the line. Not
a lot of games that you say, hey, there's a
w you know, Umber nineteenth against Houston could be the
battle for number one.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Maybe again the battling again, But that that's the if
you said, what's the most likely future for Kyler Murray,
it's not playing this year. Traded in the offseason, they'll
tank for that number one pick. They'll go in and
try to play it, and you know something, crazy Cowboys.
They'll start winning a couple of games, and then it's
gonna be what's happening. Now, let's go through the schedule.

(38:23):
Let's get it on right now. Can't believe we're doing this,
just like the Falcons tried to do last year. Oh
but now we wound up winning games with Marcus Mariona
the first few weeks. Yeah, great, that just screwed us.
But I'm telling you after today, they could have kept them.
They could have easily kept not had to worry try
to go out win games. No, no, let's get rid
of him. Let's move on. Let's save eight million for

(38:44):
a ridiculous reason, telling you you won't see him, and
then he gets traded. That's the two most likely paths
right now for Kyler Murray.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Another one of those schedule starts to a season that
I that I hate, the beginning or end where you
have the convergence of games that it just to make
any sense. First three weeks of the season, they played
teams from the NFC East, Like, what the hell? All
of them right off the jump doesn't make any sense
at all, But here we are schedule makers. Get after it.

(39:14):
Kyler Murray, Yeah, it makes sense. Operations shutdown. Then he
takes over for dak What do you think?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Oh wow, wow, Now that's a great hot set out there.
I like that. I like that. Look he got hurt
middle of December, so him coming back middle of the
season is where you're looking at right now. Yeah, I
go back to December all the time. You're one and seven,
you're on it. Hey, so not Hey, Caylen Williams is coming, Caleb, Galeb,

(39:40):
We'll get a second round pick, third round pick for
Kyler Murray. Oh yeah, suddenly, Now, hey, we're revamping our
team in what quick off season? Watch out telling you there.
It is tanking and the most likely outcome for Kyler Murray.
