Speaker 1 (00:53):
Saying, Okay, what do I want to watch tonight? Do
I have Paramount Plus? Can I watch the United States
in Mexico? Do I have vision? What channel do I
have that I can maybe watch this event? Because people
seem to be talking about it. I gotta tell you, Steve,
I have Univision. I don't have Paramount Plus, so I'm okay.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Yeah, there's some sort of delay.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Six thirty Pacific time game. This is semi final of
a tournament that started last year.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah, well, it's just like the NBA playoffs. We take
a little bit of time off and then and then
we continue on.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
That's how it works.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Well, and there will be the actual Summer Gold Cup
to start soon. So it's very confusing. They just added
this League of Nations tournament because it would mean more
real games like this between the US and Mexico instead
of just a larger slate of exhibitions in between World Cups.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I just say to everybody when it comes to the
USMNT and US Women's National team and everybody gets excited
and want so yes, everybody knows the World Cup, I just.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Say the same thing. Just enjoy the game, don't get off.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
You know, it's like this, there's so many people who
get really and I understand the get upset about the
latest incarnation of the Marvel Universe. Now the multiverse has
really just fallen flat. Confusing how many multi saying yes,
the multiverse has just been an absolute mess. I know
they Kevin Figi and and Marvel. They thought, hey, this

(02:09):
is the next big thing. It's the Marvel.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
It's it.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
We can do whatever we want and have whoever we want,
be whatever we want. But the multiverse has fallen flat
because it's too confusing and there's so many different ones,
and it's you know what, I just go into a
Marvel movie now and I go I'm just gonna enjoy it.
I'm just gonna enjoy the movie. I'm not gonna worry
about where it sits in a bigger place. There we
had the big run of Marvel Phase one through Phase
four and it was fantastic. Phase three and it was fantastic,

(02:32):
and it ended with Endgame, and then there was Far
from Home after which was the coda on the end
of it. Everything from there is great. That is that
absolute perfection from Iron Man all the way through. This
multiverse is a mess. It's an absolute mess. And it's like, Okay,
I'm just gonna enjoy the movie, and then I find
it's a lot better. And the same thing with don't
worry about where we are in this tournament and what

(02:53):
they're playing.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
They're playing for real.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
There in Vegas. It's the US Mexico.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
It happens and we're playing. We're watching the game, and
it's gonna be great. So just enjoy that as long
as you know that that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Just enjoy the game.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Don't worry about where is now? Do we win and
wins the final? And is it next year? Is it
in two years?

Speaker 4 (03:09):
At some point, there's gonna be a final soon and
it's gonna be a against Canada. Can't give you a
date just yet, but tonight's winner plays Canada. We know that.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Just watch the game and that's all. And if we win, great,
you'll know when the next game. There's plenty of time.
It's not like we're gonna run it back right after
we gotta win a double header. Now that there's plenty
of time for you to find out exactly when the
next game is. It's gonna work. It's gonna be fine.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Just in a few days in Vegas, they're gonna host
the final and we're gonna have the same conversation because
oh I can see it. It's Fanish somewhere, but unless
I have streaming, I can't see it in English. So
allow me to tell you about this real summer tournament
that's taking place starting in a week or two. FS
one and Fox will have a lot of games in
the Gold Cup, including obviously all the US games. No

(03:53):
spoilers tonight, guys.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
So eleven minutes you see.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
It on delay somewhere, and then we don't know Hawk delay.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Peacock delay. Peacock will have the game in three days, that's.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
When they're in Peacock.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
They're gonna run it on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Or I can wait for Magic Johnson to tweet it out.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Oh dude, you know how long you have to wait
for that?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I mean, come on, what it took him two days
after the NBA Finals a tweet about the Nuggets?

Speaker 3 (04:19):
I mean, come on, man.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I would like to see his soccer tweets. What kind
of stats are you're gonna throw into those?

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Congratulations to Landon Donovan, what a goal against Algeria.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Good luck in the next round.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Way to go, ex goalie. He had three saves parentheses?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Is that good?

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Who is messy?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Hashtag twenty eleven?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Hashtag twenty love MESSI would describe most of his tweets.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
This hour of the show brought to you by Discover
At the end of your first year, Discover credit cards
automatically double all the cash back here and that's right,
everything you were in doubled. Seriously see terms check it
out for yourself at discover dot com slash match. We
have a lot of big stuff to get to today,
but today's one of those days where we put a
on the end of the NBA season and go right

(05:03):
into the NBA offseason, and today was the Nuggets victory parade,
and there's a lot of things to get to. I'll
give you a big Bowl prediction for the Nuggets going forward.
Here your NBA champions, who had a big parade down
you know, all down through downtown Denver. Everybody looked like
they were having a good time. Even Nikola Jokic looked
like he was having a good time. Remember Jokichu didn't

(05:25):
want to go to the parade, wanted to go home,
didn't want his MVP trophy, didn't want it, didn't.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Want any bunny ways. The exact quote that we paraphrased
on the show was not till Thursday, and you know
he thought maybe he could go home. He was exhausted,
clearly in that postgame press conference after winning the title.
This is obviously the longest postseason there for the longest
season he's ever had.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Are you excited about this?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
No? Yeah, I want to answer.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It was no.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Actually, apparently basketball is too much of a bird friend
celebrating a championship.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
NBA actually much of a fantastic play that clip.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
But today and apparently someone got to him, And by that,
I mean someone said, hey, dude, you know your your
teammates are really excited about winning this jet. The city
of Denver has been waiting for this for forty seven years.
It was in the final of the call, I mean,
everybody said, can you be a little bit more excited?
He just fake it until you can go.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Then you can go.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
We won't bother you, dude, We'll let you go home.
You be old for all summer. Listen, don't you up
until January first? We don't need you to let just go?
But can you just pretend to be excited for like
one more day and then you can go and be
and be miserable?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So then here he was today at the parade and
suddenly a lot different than the post game, where the
parade was the worst thing in the world for him.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Here he was.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
You know that I told that I don't want to
stay on parade, but I want to stay on parade.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
This is.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
This is amazing.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Now that's the best day of his life. The reactions,
the best day of his life. Today.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Oh no, this is the best day of my life. Now,
I'm sorry. I didn't want the parade. Now today is
the best day.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Of my life.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Now he's acting, is what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yes, but that's okay.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Hey, look, hey, they got to it and they said, dude,
well you just did just do one thing. Can you
do one thing for us and just not look.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Like a jerk? Can you just pretend to be excited?
And they went now excited. Now everybody loves him again.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
But the big thing that hung over the parade was
the specter of the Los Angeles Lakers, because, believe it
or not, winning the championship this was not enough for
the Denver Nuggets because, you know, Michael Malone very upset
after the series against the first after Game one against
the Lakers when they won, that the Lakers were getting
a lot of attention, upset after the sweep of the

(07:32):
Lakers that people were still talking about the Lakers, and
now still upset that the Lakers got a lot of attention.
Maybe just as much as the Nuggets did. Because here
he was today, got the microphone and threw a little
bit of shade at the Lakers during his victory speech.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Denver, I love the Lakers. The Lakers are the greatest, Denver.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Can you believe that, Steveh? Can you believe that? For
Micha Malone?

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Right, there was that the actual kind that was him.
Man that I thought it sounded like one of our employees.
But I guess, you know, no crowd noise in the back.
I guess that threw me.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Well, it was a really good microphone. It was one
of those big omnidirectional.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Microphone from anywhere.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Yea, yeah, eats all the sounds so you can't hear it.
He went on.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
He talked about how and I don't know, Frostburg is
very upset, but the Lakers are in their heads that
they can't free Jason rent free. They can't rent free
was trending, damn, Like, okay, why is rent free?

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Trenny?

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Then I see Michael Malone say, oh, maybe I'll retire too,
like because you know, making fun of Lebron.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Rentfree obviously didn't refer to anything in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
No, no, no, this is full rent. There is no
rent controlled there. No, no, no, it's not.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Well, I mean barring all the sidewalks under bridges, but
that's a separate story.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
You know.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
He ripped Lebron.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
He ripped Lebron James on the Pat McAfee show by
saying that maybe he'll retire all the like they are
so the Lakers are so in the Nuggets head, dude,
you just won the championship. Just take it easy, just
enjoy it and don't worry. Of course, Lebron Chains is
going to get more attention than you because he's Lebron
bleeping James, and the Lakers are a bigger franchise than
the Nuggets. I don't care how many championships you win.

(09:06):
That's just how it goes. I mean, I don't just
you won the title, man.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
What do you worry about everybody else?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
For?

Speaker 3 (09:11):
What are you worried about that? Just you won?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Celebrate and hey we're the best and whatever. Someone brings
up something, just ignore it. But no, no, no, I
got to bring up I'm really upset the Lakers got
more publicity or just as much publicity as we did,
especially when we won the NBA funds.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
So you're saying the whole kind of act like you've
been there before. You're saying they haven't been there before.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
No, this is definitely the first time. We saw forty
seven years first time. But it's like, but I'm like, dude,
you won. What do you care about anybody else? Like
you could tell he's one of those guys that watches
all the debate shows and listens to the radio all
the time, stealing your takes.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, Yeah, what he hears coming up next?

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Hey, we're gonna we're gonna break down the NBA play Hey,
what can the Lakers do next year?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Don't talk about them, talk about us. I'm turning the channel.
I'm turning the chattel. I want to hear something else.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
I mean, that's that's kind of what I picture him
doing in his when he's driving around.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
It's just going to be the same thing all over
once we get to camp next year, is it? I mean,
what are the questions going to be? They're not getting
involved the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Hey, do you think you can hold off the Lakers again?
Do you think you got lucky beating them in the
playoffs last year? Do you think the Lakers made enough
moves to challenge you.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Guys, weren't the Lakers a seventh seed? I know that
was a while ago. It's a really long postseason. But
Denver was the one seed. I think the Lakers were
a seventh seed. These are not equals. Why are we
even having this conversation in Denver today?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Now, I'll give you this though, for Denver, because they
did win the championship. And I told you for a while,
told you two years ago the era of the Nuggets
is coming.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
You're talking about two great players and Yo Kitchen Jamal
Murray and Yo kicch just turned into the best player
on the planet. You know, two MVPs probably should have
won a third They just didn't want to give it
to them. We want to give it to Embid because
it beat complains too much. If Yo Kic complain like MB,
they would have given him a third one. But you're
talking about a guy that probably should have been three
time MVP, and Jamal Murray, who was bounced back for

(11:00):
the bubble in twenty where it looked like he was
going to be great, had injury problems the next couple
of years. I told you the error was coming, and
the era of the Nuggets is here and for the
next five years, I'll say this, the next five years,
I expect the Nuggets to go to two more NBA
Finals and win one of them. That in the next
five years, Yok should have another title and another appearance.

(11:24):
Maybe he doesn't win because you know the Knicks are
gonna win at some point.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
But to ANBA, your Nicks in this conversation, because we're.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Gonna get mbid, We're gonna have a bunch of it's
all gonna happen. See, I have Arian Foster's script. I
know exactly how this is gonna go. But I'll say the.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Next Friday Beale, you're getting Bradley Beal.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Yeah, we'll get well if the Heat don't get and
we'll get Bradley.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Bed I couldn't even get brad Lee, Dude.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
We'll get We'll get Larry Beale if we need to,
and I don't care what happens.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
He'll announce reference, they'll give the highlights.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
That's what we'll do.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Larry team manager or be Oh, come on, Larry Biele
will be a great play by play guy or team report.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
I tell her talking about the Encore products. No, no, no,
the Knick's encore product hasn't been much to talk about
for a while.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
No, DJ Larry is the real beal.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Five years you're talking about Jokic and Murray getting into
their early thirties now where they're still in their prime.
This is now a Nuggets team that's going to be
easy to attract other players to come play there because, yes,
having won a title, that's great Nuggets culture. They have
a superstar and Jokic that is a pretty good guy
to play alongside. He's not someone that takes up all

(12:31):
the oxygen in the room like Kevin Durant does, like
some other players do. He's an easy guy to go
play with. And Murray is really good if you want
to go there and win a ring. This could be
almost like the Warriors light. They will get players to
go play there and it because it's always about what's
it like playing with Nikola Jokich. Hey, Yokic is great.
He does this. He kind of does his own thing

(12:52):
and you can go and carve out your own identity
whatever you want.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
It is there for you and it becomes a place.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Now we're getting a number three and four guy or
getting guys to come play. Hey, I can go a
couple of different places, try to win a title. I
know I'm a role player. I know I'm a guy
coming off the bench with twenty twenty five minutes. I
can get paid a couple of places. Do I want
to go to the Sixers and try it?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Do?

Speaker 1 (13:12):
I want to go to the Celtics and try it?
Do I want to go to the Nuggets and try it?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Because I want to win a title, I'm gonna go
play with the stars someplace else. I'd rather go here
because they've won and I've heard really good things about
Jokichen and That's where I'm gonna go. So yeah, the
next five years too, title, two finals appearances, and one
title for the Knugget, one more title.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
For the Nuck.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
You are so optimistic. I must ask, did this kind
of paragraph come from you after Milwaukee's title with an
MVP star in Yannis and the future for the Bucks?

Speaker 1 (13:41):
This would hey, no, no, no, this Denver thing was this
was three years ago. This was coming out of the bubble.
I said here coming in now. I also did say
here come the era of the Jazz, but then the
Jazz traded all their good players, so that never really material.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, but they have fifty two draft picks. So stand
by because here comes the era of the Jazz.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
You wait what will come first, the end of the
Avatar movies or the Utah Jazz finishing with the picks
they've gotten.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
We just talked about movies. It's never gonna end. It's
the same as Marvel. It's there is no end of
the era. They're gonna find their own alternate universe. They'll
be in space instead of water. They'll just think of
something else. You know that it's never going to end.
Stee It's gonna be twenty Jazz will win the title
before the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
It's gonna be twenty thirty five. And on the on
the NBA draft, someone's gonna say there it is the
last pick the Jazz obtained in the era of the
Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell time.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
That's the last pick.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
It's gonna be like Bobby Benia day. It's just gonna
extend out forever.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
We finally use that last pick. Now.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
But I'm telling you, why why not? I mean, why
not why not Jokic? Why not being as good? You
just saw what they did now, Yes, everything went right
for them this year. Which is they're not a dynasty
in the in the warrior sense where year's gonna be
a little reality, more like a Spurs thing where every
couple of.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Years, hey, wh this could be a big year.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
They made the right moves here they do more, because
that's the Spurs that like basically every three years with
Tim Duncan they won a title. But the era of
the Nuggets being an NBA Finals threat and being a
team that's gonna get to a couple and win another one, yeah,
that's here, absolutely.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
And this is mainly based on not just the star
but the all of the guys that we just watch.
I mean, forget the separate stories of hey, this guy's
been in the league twelve years he finally won a ring.
We forget that. I'm talking about the guys that we
saw get minutes that they're all in their twenties.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
It's when you have star players that are that young
and you can make some maneuver ars very everything is there. Yeah,
and Porter wasn't even that great, and there are still questions, Hey,
is Porter still doesn't matter?

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Doesn't matter?

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Look look at what some of the look Aaron Gordon's
what twenty seven I mean, this is this is like you,
everybody in the West is old. That's the whole thing
is that you look at the Western Conference, it's it's
the Lakers are old.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Right, they're good, but they're old. The Grizzlies, who knows they.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Can't get their act together for any time, The Warriors
are old, the Clippers whom knows they're old, and you
don't know what they're gonna have. So really, how many
teams are then there's a couple of teams that are
young getting better obviously one hundred percent. But when you
look at some of the teams that are year in and
year out and they're the big contenders, they're all old.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
The Nuggets are Nuggets are living rent free in.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Your head, Jason ere the era is here.

Speaker 4 (16:15):

stuff you have going on. You put that video out
there today with your faces like eight inches from the screen.
It's really really big. I will help you and I
will retweet that. But after August second, no more Tears
for Fears.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Where are they playing like County Fair, Oh the Hollywood Balls.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
No, they're playing out, they're playing they're playing outside, Uh
the studio here by Tyser Scott them coming.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Block traffic and yeah, yeah, it was too easy to
sell out.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
You don't have to block traffic. You can just show
up on the corner and just watch So there you go.
Tysher deal deal or no deal deal.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
I'm gonna think about. I'll get back to you. Let's
go to Megan with K sixteen trying out the ax.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Oh gotta be somebody else, even more depressed blocks. Maybe
maybe the cure is opening up flock of sea, it's
men at work.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
How long would that be? It's f seagulls open for them?
Me l Trumpet's opening up for them. See, you know
you should go.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
He does need somewhere to go. He does neat that.
He'll do one song. He'll do one song for thirty minutes,
and then that'll be it. Oh no, if pet shop
boys are opening up, I'd go see that. Pet shot boys.
I like pet shot boys.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Would you stay for tears? For fears?

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Oh? West Town, the Dead and wild? No, I would
leave after pet shop boys. Really Easten Boys, west End,
That's exactly No.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
They did one of I. What have I done to
deserve this? What of I? What of I?

Speaker 1 (19:37):
No? The pet shop boys had a few songs, you sure?
I'm positive the pet shop boys have had more than that.
They they've had more songs than that. Well, actually it's
a duo, so it's not a whole group.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
It's a duo. They had what else they have? They
had ants, sin ants always on my mind. They had
that you were always on my mind.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Three hits. Yeah, that's more than this week. We were
always yes. But that's how they redid it was.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Who was that you only is on my mind?

Speaker 4 (20:06):
They had a few hits, No pitch up on Jason.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
They had more hits and tears for fears.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
That just stop it.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
I think they did.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Know what sucks more than tears for fears.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Don't say the Mets because everybody knows that you're gonna
say the Mets.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
USA Soccer Yeah, yeah, he pointed out the athletic reporting tonight.
I want I want Jason Locket for as comment immediately that.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Right, the game is underway that we talked about. It's
about ten to fifteen minutes in in Vegas, this tournament
semifinal USAY Mexico. Yeah, turn down your no, don't turn
down your radio. Why would anybody ask you to do this?
It's scoreless early.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Scoreless early, United States and Mexico at a Leegian stadium
in Vegas. Right, there's the winner gets Canada in the final,
which is at a day and time.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
TBA a't sometime in twenty it's.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
In a few days. They have to finish before the
Gold Cup starts on Fox this month. We know that much.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
But we do have this news coming in. We'll get
to the a's coming up in a couple of seconds.
But it looks like the United States men's national team
has their new head coach. Wait, we've heard the last
couple of days. There's been other people. They're talking to
people who are very interested. Sometimes, as we found out
in the season one of True Detective time as a

(21:17):
flat circle and you get all the way back to
the beginning.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yes, it's Jurgen Clinton.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
No, the United States men's national team, according to a
couple of different sources. Paulton Orio, who is a national
soccer reporter for the Athletic Bleacher Report Football, was also
picked this up. Returning as USMN team manager will be
Greg Berhalter after having his contract lapse. They were talking
to other people. They were letting it go.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
It seemed like Greg, no one else was interested.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Therefore, now they're going back and now Greg Burro after
all the controversy. And I didn't we didn't play Geo
Rena because he'd had a bad attitude. Now the Rain
has decided to say, hey, we know of a domestic
violence incident with Greg Burholter from the early nineties. Burholter
talks about that, they let his contract laps.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
They talk to other people. It seems like he's done.
We're going in another directly.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
We've had two interim coaches. This has gone on so long.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
This is like worse than Antonio Brown's Arena football team
with all the interim coaches. And now they're going back.
According to these sources, they're going back to Greg Burholter.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
The deal is still being finalized, believe or to these sources,
the return is imminent.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Okay, if they not seen this offense for the past
four years.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I know, I know, you know.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
And here's the thing to deal with this from the
on field perspective, right, is that Burholter, as you could see,
is a pretty good a to B coach right to
take all the draw, to take the draw, because that's
separate Now with the stuff that went on with with
the with the rains and that drama with him that.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Was just awful. Was it awful? Optic for US Soccer
and they just let it go.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
They said, we're gonna let this go for a while
and then we'll bring them back. People will forget he's
a pretty good A to B coach, right, And that's
where he was able to pick up the team that
was in kind of tatters after the end of the
Cleinsman era.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
We didn't know where we're going. He didn't have an
identity startup. We're going to do right.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
We didn't make the World Cup, we'd admit, and what happened.
We qualified for the World Cup. We qualified pretty easy
for the young team, right, and we got out of
group right. That was okay, that was pretty good, right.
That was that was pretty good. That got the United
States back to the base. But we're one of the
top sixteen teams in the country. Now, we're kind of
supposed to make it to the World Cup. We're supposed
to we're supposed to qualify. We're supposed to make it

(23:32):
to the knockout round. Now we don't have to worry
about qualifying because the next World Cup is in the
United States, so we get the automatic berth.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
But Burrol has been an A to B coach. You
saw him get exposed watching the United States get knocked
out by the Netherlands and the World Cup.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
I'm saying, these are mistakes that I see my daughter's
youth soccer team making on the field. Why are we
not covering the back post? Oh yeah, you gotta cover
the back post. That's where that pass was going through.
Cover the back post. It was just a lesson and
this is how are away we really are, when talent wise,
we are much closer than that. And just to see
us just get get get smacked around the field that way,

(24:08):
and where it just didn't even look like we we
had a plan, we had.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Anything going on. That was abysmal.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
This is where, Okay, we've reached the point where we
should be, but there's too many questions with playing the
right players and what kind of thing. So okay, Burhalter
got us to hear we need somebody else to take
us a little step further. Now it's nope, we either
can't find anybody or we don't want to.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
So we're going back to that guy.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
And I feel like they had moved on and you
can tell everybody's reaction is going to be, Wait, the
guy we moved on from, we're just gonna go back
to what the helm And that's not that's not progress,
that's not getting forward, that's not getting better. I don't
know anybody that says, hey, this is exciting. This, this
means we're gonna go further, We're gonna win the World
Cup at some point. This is now We're back to
where we were moment of hiring.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
There's a massive aspect to this hire that you briefly
touched on. There the fact that the US is co
hosting the next World Cup. You hire coaches generally in
four year cycles. So if this is true, and again
it's multiple reports tonight, Greg Bolt, Greg Berhalter is going
to be your coach when the US is co hosting

(25:13):
the World Cup, what about this offense for the last
four years told you oh yeah, oh yeah, this is
definitely the guy. This is when we're showcased to the
world at home, this is what we want to do.
This is the guy we want to have. That's the
offense we want to put out. That was atrocious. It
was pulling teeth to get a goal against Trinidad or

(25:34):
anybody else in Gold Cups past, and as you saw
in the actual World Cup. If for crying out loud,
if Polistic doesn't sacrifice his own body, who knows what
they've scored at all of that game.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Yeah, it's there were so many things that you set
sat back in want to say, why are we doing that?

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Why are we not putting? Why are we not doing
something more? Why are we not.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Taking one of the best young strikers even though he's
eighteen to the World Cup. Why are we leaving him
off the roster. Why are we taking two forwards or
three forwards on a twenty six ers round.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
I don't understand. I don't understand that.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
And it was it was like, we're gonna go in
and try to win with counter attack and when win
games won nothing and maybe Polistic has some kind of
heroic play, but this is how we're gonna do it.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
I don't understand. I really don't.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
You know, he's got a great win loss record the
last four years, but let's put it in context. This
higher tells me you are setting the bar low because
those weren't great opponents by and large for the last
four years, but because he kept beating a Mexico team
a couple of years ago that has been down for
a few years now, and then got a young team

(26:39):
to qualify for the World Cup. That gets him another
four years. That was enough for you? The bar is low.
This is like the Lakers bringing back tim Ifa Mosgov
That's right. You had four years of what you saw. Okay, good,
I want four more that.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
I mean, I don't understand how you can. You can
look at Burrhalter's the time he spent with the men's
national team and say, yeah, that was such a huge
if they if it was a it was a success,
they would have brought him back, right, They would have
brought him back. They would have let his contract laps,
and it would have been right away, he's our guy,
and they would have they would have weathered the storm
with what went on with him and his wife and

(27:16):
the rains, which was just awful for everybody involved.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
They would have found a way to do it. But instead, no,
we let it laps. Now we go back to him.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
I mean, really, if he was the guy, they would
have said, nope, we're continuing on. He's our guy, and said, nope,
we're letting it laps and we're letting it go on.
You knew then he wasn't the guy. Is there really
nobody else to take the job? Is there really nobody
else out there? Is there nobody else that wants to
take this gig to say I'll go do this.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
How is there nobody don't believe.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
That because any team that's gonna be hosting a World Cup,
I don't know if I want to care. If you're
Tim Buck too, you're gonna get interest from real soccer
coaches that for that reason alone, and the fact that
you're a team that at least has youth, and therefore
a coach would think, oh, I can mold them in
my image, I can do something with this. I'm stunned
that they can't get someone else.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
I mean, this is I really I don't.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
I mean, it's a big job, right, like I ended
like I get it if where Hey, I don't know
if this if this is a job that I can
win with or this is a really big, high profile
job in the soccer world. Yeah, I don't understand how
you just you can't get somebody because there's the part
of it that's well, I don't know. If I go
there and I don't win, I'm gonna get fired. I

(28:26):
don't want to get fired. Well, first of all, it
happens everywhere the pres go coach at Germany where you
can win the World Cup and then the two years
later you get fired.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Uh, it's it's a big deal. And if you win,
you have a job forever. Right.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
You become you, you become incredibly famous, and everything you
want to do in soccer is here, and you're viewed
like Pep Guardiola is like, well, look at this guy.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
He just won the treble.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Hey, but the United States just got to the World Cup,
semis or the final, whatever it was.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
You're an absolute legend.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
So Geo Reina is going to be starting for the
next four years? Is that what the agreement is? This
part of the negotiations is this? Why hasn't this hasn't
been hammered out yet.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
He'll be next to Greg burholl To when they announced
the press conference. They'll be sitting next to each other
while while they're talking.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Hey, and you know, I wouldn't be here without the
guy on my left right here, Jim. I. I don't understand.
I don't understand.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
This is like the next bringing back Phil Jackson.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Oh, this is no, no, this is like the Knicks
going to Phil Jackson for the first time. There's a
reason why you get to you know, there's a reason
why you know you don't. You don't go back to
your ex wife. All right, there's a reason why we
broke up, you know, let's get back together and get
married again.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
No, it doesn't really happen that often. It doesn't happen.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
The Jason Smith's Show is Steve Desager in from Mike
Harmon Tonight, get ready for four more years at Greg
Burholter as you get ready to find out what's trending
in the wide world of sports. I'm sure Steve's got
a little bit more on this and the big day
in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Steve, O, you know, I was kind of happy starting
this show. I'm not kidding you. This this is a downer.
I'm I watch I follow us soccer. I'm you know,
you and I we've talked about this on this show
for years. Harmon as well. We watched these games. We
like this team, we follow that. This this is very depressing.

(30:05):
I think that's the proper word. This is depressing. It's
it's a low bar.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
I almost thought to send you and almost for a
seconds here there you're gonna say, this is my wife.
This is very depressing.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
West End Girls, gun and hand and it's pointing at
your head in a restaurant in a west End town.
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show. Steve de Sager
in from Mike Harmon. See pet Shop Boys are good? Nay,
I sound just like the.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Guy the East End Boys and West End Girls. That's me.
I could I could join, I could fill in and
sing for him.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
I could do it. I could be like the guy
that jumped in for Steve Perry in Journey.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Sounds just like him.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
I could be that guy. Hey, I could do it.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Have you ever lived in Asia?

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Maybe actually go to the four corners of the world
to find the person in those situations?

Speaker 3 (31:07):
I will.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
What if I was in the band Asia and I
could send heat of the moment?

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Dude? Well, then I answered the band Yes.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
What if I said I've seen all good people just
like the band?

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Yes, saying yeah that's a stumper.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Yeah to sound right there, you'll pet turn the heads.
They stay so satisfied. I'm on my way. Uh.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
So we'll have more on the big story. Greg Berhalter
coming back to coach the US men's national team way
except not at all. But the big story in Major
League Baseball starting to take over in the last forty
eight hours, not just baseball, but everywhere because the A's
are going to be moving. Today, the governor of Nevada

(31:49):
signed through the OKA the bill to fund the A's
stadium in Las Vegas, which is one of the last
two hurdles. The only hurdle left is owners to okay
the move, and they're going to okay the move. The
A's are going to move to Las Vegas. Now today
we saw a lot of people weigh in on it.
We'll get to Bryce Harper coming up in a bit.
But Rob Manford, Commissioner Major League Baseball, weight in today

(32:12):
and you know Rob Manford, who never finds a way
to remind you a fails to find a way to
remind you that I hate the players, and I hate
the game and I love the owners. Was asked about
the situation, the backlash facing the A's, and he said,
I feel sorry for the fans in Oakland, but it's
not just John Fisher. The community has to provide support
and at some point you come to the realization that

(32:34):
it's just not going to happen now. The city of
Oakland put out a retort to that, saying, wait a minute,
Wait a minute. You asked for an incredibly large and
expensive stadium here in Oakland and you're settling for a
much less one the smallest Vegas. If you wanted that here,
we could have done that for you. So there's all
this back and forth and Rob Manford is now involved

(32:54):
in it, and he says, hey, just so we know,
as far as the boycott goes, it was great. It's
great to see that this year, what's almost an average
Major League Baseball crowd in the facility for one night. So,
I mean, Manford is just a guy. Can't help himself.
He can't help himself. But say, I hate the game.
I hate the players, I don't like the fans. I

(33:16):
hate all of you, but I like the owners and.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
I know you're all playing for the World Series trophy.
It's just a hunk of metal. What is all of
this over a hunk of metal?

Speaker 1 (33:23):
It's unplayable that a guy can can run a sport
and actually just not like the actual running of the sport,
and not like the fans, and not like the players,
and not like anybody.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
I don't get I mean, really.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
It's a shame, really, Jason, that the MLB Draft isn't
more popular, because then he would get double the booze
that you know, because half the NFL booing for the
commission at this point. For Goodell is play because he
kind of brings it on and everybody has fun. Who's
there in person, This would be legitimate at the MLB Draft.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
I mean to have him say today, I feel sorry
for Oakland fans, but it's not just John Fisher. Hey,
the city had a chance. Why can't you just say
I feel bad for Oakland fans?

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Right? Why can't you just do that?

Speaker 1 (34:05):
No, because you want to make sure you let people
know I hate the game.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
I'm the commissioner and I hate the game.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Why can't you just say, hey, the reverse boycott night,
Hey it was great, so everybody out at the stadium
for the A's. I feel sorry for the A's fans
and said, No, he's got to say, hey, great to
see what's an average baseball crowd for one night in
the facility. No, I can't do anything but twist the
needle on that. I can't help myself. I mean, really,
I don't get how you can be such a proponent

(34:34):
for not being a fan of the game and be
the commissioner of a sport. I mean, at least the
other guys, like when Adam Silver doesn't want to do anything.
But at least I know he likes the NBA, he
likes the players, he just doesn't want to upset them.
And you know, Roger Goodell wants to sport a football
to continue on. He likes the fact that everybody's making money.

(34:54):
We're not gonna kill the golden goose here. But no,
rob Manford is no, no, no, there's a lot of
bad people and none of it's the owners and none
of it's me.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
It's all you people. It's all these pesky.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Games we gotta play. We gotta worry about attendance in
places and all this stuff. I mean, really, he's like
a WWE villain.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
I mean, the way he went he turned all of you.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
No, he was never a good guy. He just came
right in and was like, yes, the game is too long,
pace of play.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
What else? I don't like the players. I don't like this.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
I half expect some sort of today statement from the
commissioner's offense. Did you see the day game attendants.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
At the ages.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
It was seven thousand today.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
But the one thing I agree with him on and
he says, look, the one no matter how you go
down to it, the ballpark is not in good shape.
And they needed a new ballpark to be able to
be viable in Oakland.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
As the Chargers did years ago, and they didn't stay
in town, and then there was acrimony with the two sides.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Yeah, you need to be able to provide a great
experience for the fans because they're not just going to
come to a game if the team is bad, right,
you gotta win, But if you provide a great experience,
people will go. Now me, I'm a simple guy. You
give me helmet nachos like the Dodgers do, and I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Man, I'm in.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
But that's something you probably if you provide a great
game experience, doesn't matter if they win or people are
gonna go. So that's the one thing I agree with
them on is that, Hey, at bottom line is they
couldn't figure out a new stadium thing.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
And then that's when you.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Need it, which is the death nail. I mean, look,
as soon as the Chargers left San Diego, blame it
on the owner or not. What did the city of
San Diego do with that stadium? They tore it down immediately.
It doesn't exist. By the way, the left foot of
Christian Polisic with a goal in Vegas past Ochoa late
first half. US won nothing over Mexico.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
And you see him.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
He just ran in the crowd and he made a
motion saying no Burholter, no Burholt.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
He just did that right it.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
No, he didn't really go Geo freaking up.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
More on the A's and more on Yes, that breaking
story with the USMNT Greg Burralt coming back. Keep it
right here, Jason Smith, Steve Disager in for Harmon. This
