(00:50):
story been following the last forty five minutes an hour
here on the show. The Dodgers bring up rookie Emmett
Sheen had a great year at double a e RA
under two Dodger's bullpen. Hey'd be great if we can
get along outing from him. He no hits the Giants
through six. Mookie Betts makes an amazing diving catch to

(01:11):
keep the no hitter going through six, he leaves the
game in eighty nine pitches. Okay, nope, Dave Roberts Grim Reaper,
don't fear the reper Uh take shean out of the game.
Four run lead takes him out of the game. He
gets his backslapped handshakes in the dugout and then watches
Bruce dar Graderol come in and give up a single

(01:33):
to the first Battery faces. Yeah, and a two run
homer to Wilmer Floor. So now the Wilmer Floor has
launched that ball. The four to nothing Dodger lead is
now four to two as they bat in the bottom
of the seventh, when potentially you could have had Himachian
out there and it could be a no hitter through seven.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
I will tell you this.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
The look on Emmett's face from the dugout far calmer
than when Samuel L. Jackson lost at the Tonys the
other day.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
So good on him.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, well, I mean he understands. Okay, I can't be
that upset. I reference you did, and he didn't bring
up Aaron Rodgers in it. That's pretty impressive. Well we'll
get there. But I mean, what this is, this could
be the greatest day, the biggest and most furthest team
makes it in Major League Baseball. This could be the
high and yeah, I'm gonna take you out after six
eighty nine pitches, not one hundred and twenty nine eighty

(02:22):
nine pitches. I want to know if he tried to
lobby at all, or because it is a Hey, I'm
really surprised to get this call up here, emergency spots
starter kind of duty here.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
You have no pull Mike, No.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
No, I think he did it just like Kershaw. He says, Hey,
you tell Dave Roberts send somebody down and ask me
if I But that's the larger question, send somebody down.
Did Clayton or Freeman or any of these guys try
to stick up? Well? Yeah, as they had the protest
Pride night, it's been much publicized. H. Not a lot

(02:56):
of people in the ballpark when uh some of the
groups were announced by Clayton Kershaw. Uh pretty much against
one of them. Uh and will now have his own
date that he's putting out. But yeah, many many fires
that Clayton is fighting, perhaps uh for for our young
guy Emmett. H. He could have gone down and said, hey, Dave,

(03:17):
let the kid throw. Is he the most famous Emmett
since Emmett Smith.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Our listener, Emmett Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah, that's ruey.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Alex was just on the podcast, right, I think most
famous emmetts ever, it goes Emmett Smith, Emmett Otter and
and now Emmtchian. Well we go history. You got edt Till. Oh,
that's Ruett Till, Emmettil, Yes, yes, yes, Emmettil. Okay, So
so a lot of people with the Emitt Smith, you know,
but it's got to be the first that we got
em at the clown. Of course, my mom's got the

(03:49):
clown thing that evidently is worth. And there's m Emmett Walsh.
But is he Emmett or is he m Emmett? I
call him and okay doesn't all right, but yeah, we
just call him minute most famous Emmitt since Emmett Smith.
It's pretty good, all right. I like that, and I like,
you know, I'm lot to see if there's anybody else
out here. I just want to hear the River Bottom

(04:10):
Gang song at some point. Today's why I said it
was Emmitt. Emmitt Kelly was the name of the clown,
Emmit Kelly.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, em Otter they had the snake playing a banjo.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
That's pretty cool. We were snake playing a banjo.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Well, I mean, whenever you get a banjo into the mix, anyway,
you've won.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Tell you.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
River Bottom Gang song was pretty sweet. And Otter's Christmas
doesn't end how you think it's gonna end. It's holds
up quite nicely too.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
It does with.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Snake playing the bands the river Bottom Gang. Uh the
most famous Emmett, most famous Emmett comes up as Emmett Till. Yeah, okay, yeah,
we said Emmettil yet said that. Yeah, I said, Mattill,
you didn't I did. Frosty Harmon said Emmetti Harmon, Yeah,
And I said I didn't need to say it again
because I said, oh, you're right, Mittill. I forgot about

(04:54):
m Mattil the big movie they had until yeah, it
came out last year. Uh so Emmett not, I was
gonna say Emmett, Walsh, em Mitt Shean and them at
Walsh m m Emmett she and Walsh no hit her
through six out of the game, Dodgers have a two
run screwed by Dave Roberts, exactly the latest in a
long line of guys.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Just happens that way.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
He's on the list.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
He is The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live
from the tire Rack dot Com Studios. Now, Michael Jordan
made some big headline. We've got a big basketball hour here.
There's a lot of big news to get to. Uh,
Michael Jordan is selling his majority steak in the Hornets.
Now he has owned them for a while. He's gonna
make a lot of money on this because I think

(05:37):
he bought them for like three hundred and sixty million.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
He's gonna sell his stake for about.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Three yeah reported uh, two seventy five to three bill Yeah,
so uh so, Now, so how much your teams like
the Cowboys and Knicks really worth If you're selling the
Hornets for between two and three billion dollars? We just
saw the Sun sell for what four and a half?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
What are the Knicks word?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
He's wanted to take ten billion dollars to buy the
Knicks really probably and with Madison Square guard again fift billion.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Maybe maybe you get all of that and the Ranger
it all comes in.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
You get a packing.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Uh do you get the sphere now in Vegas too?
You might because that's part of their holdings. You also
get to play in James Dolan's band. You might get
to play the cow bell. Can we do the River
Bottom Gang song?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
James? Can we do that? I want to get the
river Anybody got a good cover you'd like to do?
Ty shit?

Speaker 1 (06:24):
You better find the River Bottom Gang song for a
few im you better find it. Otters Christmas, you better
find just find it. So since we did the financials,
buy in at two hundred and seventy five million, yeah,
sell it three billion?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Not bad.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Basketball is a whole other thing to talk about. But
anybody that's just criticizing this overall worst ol dude, two
hundred and seventy five million to three billion, that's gonna
get that. That's like when you go get sunburn and
something gives you a giant bottle of ala vera. That's

(07:00):
exactly what happened here. The rest of it stings. Don't
get me wrong now, but the money is a nice
sad Look, there is something big to criticize Michael Jordan on,
and there's something to not criticize him on. The thing
to not criticize him on is winning.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
We don't talk about any other owner outside of Jerry Jones,
because why because he's so visible and he makes a
lot of big decisions. But we don't, no owner, do
we judge by winning championships. We never say, oh, look
at this guy, he was a bad owner. Why he
owned the team for thirty years, never won a title?
That is not it's only for Michael Jordan because he
was a player. So that's an unfair thing to try

(07:35):
to saddle him with, Oh he was a terrible owner,
all right, owner, We don't talk about wins and losses.
We don't talk about what they were able to do,
how many championships they won. Right, nobody's walking around going
Joe lakeb oh, my god, greatest owner ever. No, No,
you own the team and it's about making the team
more attractive, making sure the team progresses.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
It's not about winning.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
That's an unfair criticism for Jordan because we don't do
it for anybody else just because Jordan was a player. Hey,
that's why we're doing it right here. But the thing
to criticize Jordan on is how has he not been
more visible? He's Michael bleeping' Jordan. He's the biggest most
popular player the game has ever seen. How has he
not been a leader of the owners instead of it's

(08:20):
always Mark Cuban. We hear about her other guys. How
has he not been at the forefront of Hey, this
is what I think the NBA should be doing this way.
He was the only majority black owner in the sport
and he was the biggest star of the sport ever had.
How is he just yeah, I'm just kind of hanging
out in the in the background here, I'm not doing
How is he not more How is he not given
more back as an owner? How has he not been

(08:41):
somebody that at least not somebody is oh, okay, now
I'm gonna go do all of these things. But you're
an owner, and you can help grow the game, and
you can and you can help be somebody that leads
the game, and.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
You could be more powerful than them.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
You could be the most powerful owner in all the
sports again because you're Michael Jordan. And instead he just
sat back and was in vision for the last few years.
But you know what, it's consistent with a lot of
the stuff Jordan was doing as a player, and going
back to the Last Dance, go read any books on Jordan,
all the stuff he was doing in politics and communities

(09:16):
and helping to raise people up, and Lebron does a
lot of it now, right, big big headlines this week
for some of the housing stuff that he's doing. We
obviously know about the schools, but Jordan was doing a
lot of that stuff and just didn't want to know
about it. The other story that comes to mind, like
if we we grab all our sports and sports entertainment.
Paul Hayman did a podcast the other day saying he

(09:37):
was the guy that kind of forced John Cena to
go public with how many Make a Wish deals he did, right,
and how many kids he went and traveled to see
or they brought to events to try to get and
inspire other people to get involved. Jordan was doing a
lot of that behind the scenes. So I don't know
that it's fair to say he did nothing. When have

(09:57):
you ever know about his name in anything big going
on in the NBA the last ten years? Right, But
the point is that he may have been a very
active and vocal guy behind the scenes, but he's but
he's not falmer.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Well, if he didn't tell Shams anything that was we
would have known everything, you know, but.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Anything that would have happened in the NBA. If Jordan
was a it would have been Hey, report behind the scenes,
Jordan really pulled the strings on this or made this happen.
He just you gotta be visible when you're Michael Jordan.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, you got you.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
You could affect so much change. I just don't see
how he just sat back and said, yeah, I'm cool.
I'm I'm cool, man. I mean, really, at some point
you gotta understand, Hey, I can give back a little
bit here. And I'm not saying you gotta do anything
more than just your job as an owner to say,
let me help the NBA. I think we should be
doing this. We should be doing this for players. We
should be doing this for coaches, we should be doing

(10:51):
this for the fans. We should be This is what
I feel strong. There's not and everybody would listen to him.
They would all have listened to him. Yeah, I I
find it. It's hard for me just knowing the and
it's not Michael Jordan's standing by any way, shape or form.
But my understanding of the guy is that that's just
not who he was in terms of being out. As

(11:14):
much as he loves commercials and everything else, right, it's
the the two sides of the same coin that behind
the scenes, and there were plenty of opportunities I guess
to take an outward stance against some of the other
owners and you know, trying to just think of a
timeline and where maybe that had been the case. Yeah,

(11:37):
I was gonna go to the talent evaluation and because
he certainly had input on draft choices and failures all
around there.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
But he's not doing stuff every day.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
He's not around the team, he's not coaching them, he's
not you know, yes, he's an owner, but in the end, no,
owners don't look, Okay, you did this and it's your fault.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
This is why you have them, Jason.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
He did smack Malik Monk the head, I believe it.
Love turned out to be pretty good. Okay, all right,
So there's that, all right, there is that.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yeah. I just.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Look, you're an owner in the league, and yes, you
could have taken a stance. I don't know that he didn't, right,
I don't have the minutes of the meeting. We have
not mentioned his name and anything as an owner, but
doesn't the last ten years. But it's also a nothing.
I'm in the club, I have an ownership stake. I

(12:28):
make I'm trying to build the squad. I go out
and I torch guys in one on one games every
now and again, even though I'm almost sixty years old.
But I don't know that he's he's done nothing. I can't.
I can't say you can't do anything.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
But but but I name one.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Thing that he's but I can't say that behind the scenes,
he's been just silent, taking with money and smoking. Why
would we know, because when anything big comes up, we
hear the names of the people who are talking all
the time, right because they want to get in front
of a microphone. That Mark Cuban does that and watch
Shark Tank. That's how the end and how you show
influence in the leader. Hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna step

(13:06):
in front of this. We should be leading this. You
gotta lead publicly. You can't lead from behind the ghind
closed doors going yeah. I may say one category, you can't.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
You cannot do it, not not here. Anybody.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Any guy that runs to a microphone to tell me
he's a leader, I'm looking at him side eye. No, No,
he's not running to say his leader saying this is
what I think we should be doing with this big
important topic. Whatever, it's wind up and Jordan's not done anything.
You can't tell me one thing he's done. He cashed
out for three billion bucks, He's done that. He's He's
made much, which is what Jordan has done throughout his life.

(13:37):
But that's the thing to criticize him on the winning
the winning give that's not his that's not his ultimate
priority as an owner. But helping the league and being yeah,
he could have grown leaps and bounds. He's able to
take a two hundred and seventy five million dollars investment
to three billions. Okay, he's part of the club that
helped do that. That's personally for him, that's great. That
didn't help the league though, you could have done well,

(13:59):
every every lead, every team is working, and.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
All his contacts and everything.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Their team didn't.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Team is up more? Right?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
But the Jordan brand, right, But the Jordan brand when
he was a player, because he does not that stopped.
How much money does he make in passive income? I
makes so much money, but what ninety million dollars a
year and passive income? Sure, the guy hasn't done anything
as an owner. He hasn't. He hasn't done I can't.
There's not one thing you can say, Hey, when the
NBA did this, Jordan was right there. He was the

(14:27):
guy there.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
He hasn't.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
He hasn't could have been more visible, he hasn't done it. Sorry, buddy,
I know he's what you're trying to hold Mark Cuban
up as a guy that's done a lot of good.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Mark not what's he done.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
He's not done a lot of good, but he's always
in front trying to say this is what I think
we should do.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
But at least trying. At least Jordan's not out there
tanking games. He's trying.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
He didn't take, but he could have gotten in the playoffs.
I'm not saying everything Cuban done. There's a lot of
them that hasn't. He's the one standing up doing stuff,
and there's other owner who are doing it as well.
But Jordan's been the one said yeah, no, I'm cool,
I'm cool, just in here making money. I'll start with
your owner. Well, that guy's got a lot of bodies. Well, yeah,
he sells. He sells out every concert. Every coach they're

(15:11):
only like five seed arenas. He sells out every single concert.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
And I want you to look around where all your
accouterments are. Okay, where you're big half a watermelon that
you eat every night at empty Now? What are you
missing that's normally right next to you?

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Oh? Man? Maybe like five two and twenty? Did you
what are you missing? Are you missing this my blender?

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Are you missing your blender that you like to make
your healthy smoothies with.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Every single night? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
I do?

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Actually, all right? So I took it from you. That's
not nice. I see I'm holding that right here. Yeah,
I see.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
I'm gonna make a deal with you right now. Okay,
is what you call leverage. No more tears or fear
songs the rest of the night, or I drop this
right now, no more to say it.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Facts. Why are you gonna do that to a gooseas?
This is really heavy? I can't held how long you
can hold that for?

Speaker 1 (16:38):
It's really it's not that version of planking, that's all
glass stretching out Mike's shirt.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
This is way too How long you're gonna hold that
up for it? He can't even do it.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
It was like twenty seconds and he struggles like twenty pounds.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Yeah, you do it hard. Let's see how long you
could do it for.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
My shoulders are coached and we are as well established.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Make fun of me and say you can't go shoulders.
I can't do it.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Your one shoulders bad, use the other one? How does
that feel?

Speaker 3 (17:08):
One?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Mississippi fantastic Mississipps and Mike shaking a little.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
You do me a favor. Just don't give it back
to Jason. I don't have to do the deal. It's
not Oh now, you put it down. Now something I
putting down. Now you got it for me. I can't
hold it up anymore. Good, I don't have to.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
No, No, that was not I put it down because
it hurt or sore. It was longer than I held
it for objective? Was the established objective was met? No
it wasn't. It's still in here next to me and
is going to protect it. No, Harmon's gotta get by.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Harman bought pizza.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
I'll shut off, hit Harmon in the head, take that
from you, and then we're good between them.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
That's full glass. I mean that.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
That's no joke. You're going to jail. No, I wouldn't
hit you without it.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
You're going to the hook.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
I hit you with something else.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Right, I mean, did he not the mail box? With
the mail box? I didn't say all the cars.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
I didn't say I hit you with the blender. I
said I'd hit you with something, and I would hit
you with a chair like it was w W E
and you would respect that. I have to lift that chair. No,
I'd lift a lighter chair that's over here. I'd lift
one of the folding chairs in the corner.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Between you two. I'm taking Mike.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Really, you thinks absolutely. Why you're a Cali boy. He's
a Chicago kid. I'm going with the Chicago kid.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Caliboy, way tougher your it's from Staten Island.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Way tougher than Chicago. No, you're not because I would
fight dirty. No, you don't sure I would. How many
fights have you been in?

Speaker 3 (18:31):
I was been in two.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Fights, one when I was in second grade and one
in third grade, and not pillow fights. I won one
fight and the other fight was a tie.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Not pillow fights.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
I won one and tied one. I saw I was
one oh and one.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
How many punches did you take?

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Not many in the first one. The second one was
kind of even although he was he was a grade
below me, like strawberry basket kind of kid. Is that
how you won your fights?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (19:00):
No, no, no, My first one I went because I I
just I just knew what I was doing.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
But more like, are we are we lolossing over the
fact that your last fight was in fourth grade?

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Can't face wears that punch?

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Well, the kid I fought in third grade, Jason, he
was too emotional, so I was able to win that fight.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
But Harmon literally took on a biker gang and survived
what have you done you? What were you just making
stuff up? Do you think he got those short think
he was in sons of anarchy? What do you say?
He was in stitches, His hand was all messed up.
He fought a gang, He fell off a curb.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Okay, that's not the what happened, pod Poodle.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
He fell off me dog when his brother pushed him
as jo face, exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
What dog's got papers? I heard it was twenty five
guys on motorcycles.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Okay, now suddenly, your captain Marvel, I'm just beating.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
I'm taking Mike rad fire right, fire On.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Harm I still would take take me in the fight. Yep, no,
I wouldn't you know. I'm like, I'm like eight inches
taller than you are. You would try to come at
me low, and you would be on the ground for
a second. To be it, you'd be over you would
if I'm way taller than Harmon. I have the height,
I have, I have the length, I have everything. No way, Yeah,
I would wait. I'd be a counterfighter because I would wait.

(20:17):
I would just upset Harmon to the point where he
attacks me. I would sidestep that he'd be on the ground.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
I would win. That's it. If you offended Michael Jordan,
you probably win the.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
You think he'd be able to get past me with
that first step, I have to get past I'm driving.
Point is that you're not evading anything. I'm pass blogging
and then you're on the ground. I got nothing. You're
running by and I'm tripping you like Fuji.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
I'm just gonna trip you with a cane there too.
Jordan's a bum chuck mate, all right?

Speaker 1 (20:44):
I mean you just said Michael Jordan did nothing as
an owner.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
He hasn't.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
He made money, That's what he did. Did nothing.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
That's what owners do. He did nothing. Think they did.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
I think they did a pretty good job of expanding
the game and making some money. I don't think and
I don't think you need to do that while being
a carnival. He wrote a check and then he sat
back for ten twelve years and now he's cashing out.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
That's what he did.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Gave the world a sun and lots of content with
Scottie Pippens. X. Okay, well there is that, yes there, Okay,
Jordan's He's giving us that is that is that is good? Yes,
I will give you that.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
That is good.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
But it doesn't matter doesn't play into him as an
owner at all. Does it doesn't play in anything. That's
just you're.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
You're just so.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
All the other owners do nothing but collect jacks. No,
a lot of them do, but some of them step
up and they actually get in five Steve Ballmer just
tells you about toilets.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Heason.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
He could have been those toilet the very fast. He
could have been more influential than Jerry Jones in the NFL.
He could have affected all kinds of change. This is
what I think we should do for players' rights. This
is what I think we should do for teams. This
is what I think we should do for the meat.
This right, and yes, Mike Michael Jordan says that, Okay,
Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan, what are they gonna do.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
They're gonna say, no, we're not gonna follow Michael Jordan's
He could.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Have been that guy lead in the shadows, gonna hang out.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
They're gonna hang out. No, you don't. You gotta lead.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
You can't lead in the shadows. You gotta lead out front.
That's absolutely true. You have to lead out front. You
can't lead in the shadows. Sure, you can't. No, you
can't great people of influence in every business under God's
give me give me someone who's the biggest lead in
the shadows. Guy, give me a guy the way politics.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Give me a guy. Give me a guy.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Give me a guy leading from the shadows. And you
can't say dark shadows. Give me the n from the
shadow and anything you just said you can lead from
the shadows to a point is that we know they
are in the rooms of influence.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
We don't need them to have giant megaphone. But Mark
Cuban says a bunch of crap, right, But you can't.
But you cited him as a guy that was a
great owners, someone who was stepped up and is trying
to Now he doesn't do everything right, does a lot
of things wrong, but he's doing it. You can't tell
me Jordan's led from the shadows because you don't know
that he's done anything right. But you don't know that

(22:56):
he hasn't I haven't said we haven't said his name
in ten years, right, but you've just missed.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
So what's what's he done? Look?

Speaker 1 (23:02):
What could he have really done? We haven't heard his
name and said his name in for anything going on?
NBA wise, any NBA any any anything that goes collective bargaining,
and nothing, nothing for Michael Jordan. Again, you don't need
to be the guy with the bullhorn. If he was
saying something, we would have heard about it. We always
hear NFL. Hey, in this meeting here you said this,

(23:24):
and and and somebody said that there're the guys that
want credit for everything they're doing. Okay, so that, but
they're the guys that are actually doing things. Jordan could
have done more. We could have known more.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
You don't know any he's done. You can't tell me
that he's leading when you can't tell me anything he's done.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
He can't, right, But citing the fact that woes or
Shams or anybody else who win Horse, who's on Lebron's payroll, shams,
who's clutch client. I mean, all these guys say anytime
they cite stuff that that's not being done as a
part of a pr Hey, by the way, he talked
in this meeting, and you should really make sure that

(24:00):
they know that Stan Kronkey was trying to lead for this.
What did he lead for the fact that he built
his own stadium and wanted everything in LA because he
had a lot of money. Great, the guy wins, guy
wins championships everywhere he goes. That's fantastic. Follow foll him around.
Let's see, he means he got a lot of money.
He got he got the Rams to a place where
they could win a champion. Mary Jones got in, not

(24:24):
that winning is a thing, but no, you went to
championships right away, so winning is obviously.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Brea.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
That's one thing I said you can't criticize Jordan for
because it's the winning and losing championships is not an
ownership stat it's not an ownership stats.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
What he won today guys better than any championship. Well,
he said.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
He he bought a team, he wrote a check, and
HEAs ten years.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
He literally just made three billion dollars, better than any championship.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
And I'm not saying that he's not made money, that
he's not been a smart business He's been the greatest
athlete businessman besides Revis, who was able to just steal
money from the Jets. He's been the greatest athlete business
that any of us have ever seen. And that and
that's all.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Upset that he doesn't and that's not good size that
he wears a cape. No it did. If you are
just doesn't want you to see it.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
You can. You could help. You could help the sport
that gave you everything so much. You can't a little
bit more visible. And they needed him in the nineties.
Look what happened when he left the Rockets one. Yeah,
the Knicks were in the finals for Bryant.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
The NBA almost fell apart when he left. We were
in the second round this year.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
And then he came back. We just commemorated nineteen ninety eight.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Speaking of coming back, a guy not coming back now, apparently,
even though they want to back.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Oh boy.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Let's hold up some blenders on I'm.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Going to key ty shirts cards night. I'm going to
key his car to night, then break his thing over
his head.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
That was really well done.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
To paste that out, I couldn't think of the word
blender for a second. The thing with the guy in
the place that makes that blade go really really fast
and it cuts stuff up.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
DJ want to put my tender heart in a blender.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Yeah, the the larger thing there was. That was the
first on air threatening of a car keying in weeks.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
I wasn't here, though.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
I've been pretty happy that Jets got Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I've been pretty happy.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
When does that turn is that?

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Week two? I'm in New York. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Go find this car here. Here's the thing. He doesn't
need a car in New York. No one drives cars
in New York drives. He'll be taking the subway Wells decided. Yeah,
he'll have a car service.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Chambers Street, Chamber Street. Everybody say hi to Aaron Rodgers.
He's on track L car seven. Hi, Aeron, how are you?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
I'm sorry? This is how it would sound. Unavoidable delay.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
That's it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I was thinking about asking so like I uh finished
walking the dog before saying goodbye to the girls and
that euphemism.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Did you clean up after him?

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Of course they did, But the kids next door, one
of them was going to a birthday party and they
got picked up in a limo. I was gonna see
if I can say, hey, girls, you want to take
a ride to Sherman Oaks, so I get dropped off.
So you all get like the Hell's going on here?
But we don't have that window No, no, we don't
window view anymore. So when a lost all it's juice

(27:55):
The Jason Smiths Show with Mike Carmen Live from the
tire Rag dot Com Studios. So today has been a
day of change for the Golden State Warriors. They hire
Mike Dunleavy Junior, who had been with the franchise of
the last year. Yeah, we knew that was coming as
their new general manager. Yeah it was, Yeah, it was.
I still can't believe he went number three overall. So
Mike Dunlevy Junior is a new Golden State Warriors GM.

(28:17):
And now how am I going to proceed? What's going
to happen? Well, the first big decision has come down.
According to sources, Draymond Green is going to opt out
of the player's option year in his contract, which is
worth thirty six million dollars, and become a free agent. Now,
according to sources surrounding the Warriors, they're going to do
everything they can to keep Draymond in Golden State and

(28:40):
sign him to a long term deal. How about this,
Mike Dunlald, hope you're listening. How about you let Draymond
Green go someplace you gonna be a Laker. How about
you let him go someplace else and let somebody else
pay him thirty five million dollars a year or whatever
it is for the next three or four years. Okay,

(29:00):
I get it. I get that. Draymond means a lot
to the organization. He was He and Steph and Clay
were the players responsible for the entire run of the
franchise and it was awesome. But now the team needs
a complete reboot, right they lost the Lakers in the
second round of the playoffs. Clay is not the same guy.
Draymond's not the same guy. Just because of Draymond's reputation,

(29:23):
you can't say, well, and we feel bad, we'd love
to keep you. It's a family here. We're gonna give
you all this money for the next three or four years.
They will rue that decision so much. What the Warriors
need to do is completely reboot around Steph Curry because
what you have right now is not working. Steph's the
only one of those players who has not lost a
lot Clay has lost a lot, Draymond's lost a lot.

(29:46):
You can try to catch lightning in a bottle again
by saying all right, these guys are gone, and maybe
other players will go, oh, Draymond's gone, Oh yeah, I
don't mind going there. Hey, playing with Steph is great.
I love Steph. I'd love to go there and try
to win a championship. Steph fantastic. Maybe we need something
new because that's exactly what the Warriors need. You can't
sit back and say, hey, we're gonna bring in a

(30:06):
couple of guys here and we're gonna wind up with no.
You gotta move on. Play still has value around the league.
You can get something for him, so does Draymond. A
team that thinks we're Draymond away from winning a championship,
or we need his attitude, you need more talent. You
need more talent if you're Golden State, and to build
around Steph Curry and to say, okay, hey, now it's

(30:27):
got a couple of other stars to come in. Jordan
Poole can go. You can free up some money and say, hey,
why don't you guys come in here, Whether it's Damian
Lillard or somebody else wants to go play with Stephan
Golden State, and now we can see what we can
do the next couple of years. That's where the Warriors
need to go. Oh, we know there's a lot of
stars that are gonna be moving this offseason. Fact that
Draymond declines the player you know and opts out makes

(30:51):
perfect sense. Plenty of teams probably looking at him thinking
there's a veteran leader that comes in games still like,
still plays defense, still is able to distribute the basketball,
not gonna give you much in the points department most nights.
That's fine, but only the Warriors truly know behind the
scenes what he is in terms of being a glue

(31:14):
guy or not. The punch on Jordan Poole. Jordan Poole
was a guy that Steph Curry, when he was asked
about the future of the squad just said, well, you're
looking at him and pointed to his locker and he's
already locked up. So you're trying to shuffle money and
trying to figure out what the next iteration of the
squad is. But for Draymond, it becomes the curiosity. Remember

(31:36):
that long embrace and all of the discussions with Lebron
James would not be surprised to see him as a
future Laker as they get to the next level. Now,
going back to that two thousand and two draft with
Mike Dunleavy junior, it's not good draft. No, you got yao,
ming Amari Stodomar, Karan Butler, a friend of the show former,

(32:00):
he hung out with us. Now he's down in Miami, obviously,
Karan Casey Jacobson who joins us time and again. But
now we're looking at uh Dan gad Zurich just because
it's a good name, and you Donnas Haslam was not drafted,
That's what we're talking about in that draft. And Jay
Williams was the number two pick behind yew mean not
not not a lot of meat on the bone which

(32:21):
Jay Williams. No that Jay Williams and Jay Williams on TV.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
He's on TV.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Yeah, Jay Way, he's still on TV, still on TV radio.
He still does a thing with a guy in the place. Uh,
start over, start I know it's hard, I know it's oh,
but this team means Selma, you.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Want to win. Startle You're not gonna but you get
more talent.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
With Bob Myers leader, you now have the opportunity to
say I'm the captain now, and that means I'm gonna
make some hard choices. I'm bringing in my guys. It's
Steph and it's two other stars you can bring around
him that you can jump start and rebuild on the fly.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
That's the bat.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
I know it's hard, but you gotta do you want
to try to win or do you want to try
to squeeze something out? When you won that title two
years ago? That was the last one you were getting.
Which insider is gonna tell us who STEP's best friends are?
Hopefully it's Julius Randall, Hiisha Twitter? And how about a
fresco Mike. It's pulling down the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon coming up next. Something on

(33:19):
the show tonight that has been completely Harmon's fault since
it's begun.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
It's next right here? This is Fox. Is it that
I haven't played enough Tears for Fears? Oh yeah,
