Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome in side hour two of The Jason Smith

the Tirack dot Com studios tirack dot com. We'll help
you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection at over ten thousand recommended installers tirack
dot com, the way tire buying should be well. We
(00:48):
have no better guests coming up in twenty minutes than
longtime NBA insider Mark Stott, whose keyboard must be melting
as he is tweeting up a storm breaking down just
how the Christaps porzingis to the Celtics trade fell apart.
We came on the air beginning of the show, first
(01:09):
ten minutes. It was like a celebration. It was like
throwback day. Hey, we're talking about Porzingis in the first
segment of the show. This is amazing. We haven't done
this in six years. Right after we get done, agent
wo Jerowski tweets out, Yeah, that big three team trade
everybody's talking about today. Yeah, it's off and the sides
are all moving in a different direction. According to mark Stein,
(01:29):
one of the big divining rods in the or dividing points.
Not a divining rod. We're trying to find lightning. One
of the big dividing points in this trade was Brogden's
injury status. Clippers were worried about his injury status, so
now they are trying to figure things out the other way. Potentially,
Porzingis could wind up still with the Celtics, but it
would take another team besides the Clippers. Again, we'll have
(01:52):
more on that with mark Stein coming up in about
twenty minutes, but just just you know, and I feel
awful because we talked about it for twelve minutes and
then it didn't happen. But I feel good because it's
one less team I gotta worry about for the next
well one of the moment.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
It doesn't mean that he still can't end up a
member of the Celtics, but.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
To trade Jalen Brown for him, then trade Jaylor Brown.
Yeah yeah, sorry.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
But Brogden's arm injury the thing that obviously is holding
it up. We were waiting on the details, right because
it was all right, this is falling apart. Well, what's
what's the piece that we're missing here in the trade?
That and comes down to health, uh and physicals. But
what it does puts back up on the table that
we get an hour before the technical deadline for Porzinga's
(02:40):
and his player option opt in opt out? What are
we doing here because he can still opt out of that.
Chris Middleton another name that that mark Stein had mentioned
on his uh social media feed. So, I mean, you
got a lot of moving parts here in this next
hour plus. You can always change deadlines and extend things
(03:01):
and whatever. But the next twenty four hours we're expecting
a lot of fireworks. I'm hopeful that we're not let down.
It was like when you go to a fireworks show
and then it's pedestrian at best. Yeah, well you budget
cuts or just bad music accompaniment or whatever.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
How has there not been more in advancements in fireworks
the last twenty thirty years.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Wow, I mean all that stuff we saw on Harry
Potter and but but here's the thing is that you
need to have growing stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, but you gotta have more.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I got an army at dro I would smash all
of them out of the sky if I could look
at the advancements in ice cream the last thirty years.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
I don't think you get Hey, what are you gonna
do after after chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and butter pecan? Oh,
look he's we got all these new flavors, all these
new ways to make put it together?
Speaker 4 (03:42):
All the how is every fireworks? They're clearly living on
the wrong block.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
Man?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
How am I living on the wrong block?
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Yeah, there's got every time of firework?
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Man? Yeah, but the shows are all the same. Oh
look let's go. No, I need the Harry Potter Leprecaun
World Cup, gobbled of fu. Yeah, here come the Bulgarians
and they fly right through it and everything. So we'll have
dragons and stuff. Yeah, we'll have more on the no
Porzingis trade. But is the trade dead? Coming up in
(04:12):
about fifteen minutes with Mark Stein. But today maybe you
saw this story. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a couple
of headlines. He's going to speak at a psychedelic conference
in Denver. Oh, yeah, he did today, You speaking today
at it finally happened.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
We had talked about that a couple of months ago,
waiting to see how that was the fallout.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, I want the transcript and when it comes in,
I want to talk about it. So he want about
the power of psychedelics. Also the same day he challenged, remember,
Joe Rogan had the big thing. He wanted RFK Junior,
who's running for president, to debate a specific scientist about
COVID on his show because all this stuff. You know,
Joe Rogan's a COVID kind of denier, and so is
Aaron Rodgers. And Rogers kind of talked bad about the
(05:03):
person that Joe Rogan wanted to debate RFK Junior. But
this is not a conversation about that. This is about here.
You have Aaron Rodgers making these two headlines on this
day right speaking at a psychedelic conference. And now I'm
not happy with who Joe Rogan, sorry, doctor Joe Rogan.
Who doctor Joe Rogan is going to bring in because
you know, Aaron Rodgers and Rogan they've been buddies. I'll
(05:24):
tell you this. When he retires, Aaron Rodgers will be
the biggest media star former athlete on the planet. Really,
he will be the because think about this time. He
will be a new age media star unlike any other. Right,
he is addicted to attention, and as you've seen, everything
(05:47):
he does brings attention. Right, he's figured that out. He
will have a show that will talk NFL, enlightenment, psychedelic drugs,
conspiracy theories. It's gonna cover everything. He's gonna have. He's
gonna have comedians on, crazy guests, musical guests. Hey, after
(06:10):
we have the guy coming out to show you how
the world is not really flat. It's kind of an
oval shape. Taylor Swift is gonna do her new song Everybody. So,
I mean, think about the show and all the different things.
There's gonna be something for everybody. It's gonna be I
can't miss this show. Why because I have no idea
what's gonna happen. He may talk about the moon landing
being faked. He could talk about how he thinks, uh
Zach Wilson's gonna wind up being an All pro quarter.
(06:33):
I don't know, but that's Aaron Rodgers, everything is on
the table. I don't know it'll be a nightly show
because I think that might be too much ever in him,
I don't know he wants that kind of you know,
that that kind of responsibility. But like a couple nights
a week or a weekly Aaron Rodgers show one hundred percent,
and he will be such a big star. Because you're
talking about taking players and putting them in the broadcast
(06:53):
booth that you want to hear what they have to say.
Do we really know we wanted to hear from Tony Romo?
Not really, but roulmost come out and made a career.
Is Tom Brady actually going to jump in and be
a anas I mean, in theory he's going to. But
Aaron Rodgers already is someone who everything he's saying people
pay attention to, whether your gree or disagree to it,
And there's tons I disagree with him on it, there's
(07:14):
stuff I agree with him on, but he's someone that
has everybody's attention. So when he's done, and again that's
why he's in New York, so he can set up
the next phase of his career, so I can be
the next big global superstar. Because I like this, and
I know I can't play football forever, but I'm excited
because I know I'll be able to go from the
football field to whatever is next seamlessly. And whatever Brady's
(07:35):
got going on, forget it. Tom, you're gonna talk about
how you won Ring number four. I'm gonna tell you
what psychedelics can do to you when you go into
a darkness retreat. What would you rather hear Brady talk
about the secrets to Ring number four or Rogers talk
about what his darkness retreat was and what psychedelics he took.
I want to hear Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Well, unless Brady goes full into the health and supplements
and family stuff, because right, there's always more room for
for family engagement and discussing how you navigate changing landscapes
in that regard, because we've certainly seen a lot of
headlines with him. Tom's first this since the breakup with
(08:13):
Gisel and all of those kinds of things and hanging
with the kids.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
So you got that.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
As for for Rogers, I hope he can put it
off five years.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Uh, then maybe we'll have uh, I'll have shipped this
because that's jets for five. That's a couple of Super
Bowls and he's playing five more years. That's jets. A
couple of.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
You think that because I don't know that I want
to have to monitor and Aaron Day, Oh yeah, forget
about the Manning cast. This will blow that away. This
will Aaron Rod. I mean just thinking about all the
different things he could have. You have no idea what
he could have?
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, but how much am I really going to want
to talk about it or consume it? On zero? Oh no?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:51):
But does it he's gonna make not I okay, you
won't have to watch the whole show, but there will
be at least a couple of things from each other.
Did you believe? Can you believe what that happened?
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:01):
And then you'll say it and I'll laugh and I
got yeah, I don't care. H Did you see him
riding on an elephant?
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I mean he actually went in on an elephant and
it was but it was a miniature element the elephant
because it was shrunk down.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
It was only a two foot tall at the elementals
and failure at the box offices.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah, yeah, that was Yeah, that didn't work out.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Well, Well, you know what, you start giving people everything
on Disney plus three months after it's in a theater.
Guess what, nobody's going to a theater. Well, you got
to start making good movies. If that's that's part two.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I mean, really everything they did good was the Joe
Ranft idea, right, hey, all the ideas he had. It
was the big what do they say, the big the
big lunch they all had one day and he came
up with the ideas were like four of their biggest
cars and toys and everything else. And that's what it
turned out to be.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Man, I do like this quote though, quote I found
a deeper self love. It unlocked that whole world of
what I'm really here to do, to connect, to connect
with those guys and to make those bonds and to
inspire people. Yeah, you made a lot of enemies along
the way, but look, he's interesting. I'll give him that. Agreed,
(10:05):
disagree whatever. At some point it becomes a lot of
hot air. But it's it's fun, you know, for you
as a Jets fan, it's it's another headline for your
quarterback to be out there. I'd really love the transcript
of the whole speech, or if saked video would get
out there that I might watch. Just you know, first
time presenting in this kind of format when I watch
(10:28):
him every day now, but we'll get clips, so he's.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Not gonna be every night. You think he's not gonna
have the way I mean gone he left the country. No, no,
Now you have an opportunity one or two nights a
week where he'll do it, and just trust me, just
watch that'll be that'll be the show. Does he still
go a hangout with McAfee. No, no, come on, he
can't do that. You can't give away your you know, well,
the larger thing is you got a platform.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
You got to keep that, the Disney, ABC, ESPN brand.
You think they want him around.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
He's not gonna have to worry about that. He go wherever.
Trust me, he's gonna be. He will be the biggest
new age media star you'll see.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
You know, his broadcast gonna be called, guys, what it
be called shroom cast that.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
You know what Pat and that because he may take that,
he may take it. He makes it in a given show.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
How much truth lie misdirection relative to doctor philm What
are we doing?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
I mean, just think about his show. Hey, on tonight's show,
Patrick Mahomes, right, Patrick Mahomes is coming on. I'm gonna
talk to you about why the Remuter Triangle is absolutely
real and why it's claimed so many people. Okay, then
I'm gonna get into psychedelics. I'm gonna get into a
certain couple of psychedelics. It's part of a three part
series that I want to talk about. Okay, Then I'm
(11:35):
gonna have a musical guest come in. Are they gonna
be on psychedelics? I don't know. Hosier is gonna come
in and do take me to church and his new
album coming out. I mean, just think about how eclectic
and crazy ass that show was gonna be. I think
we should do that show. I mean, he could do
all that. Jason, have you ever done shrooms? No? I
(11:55):
have not. You and your quarterback need to get together, man, Well,
why something don't want to be on his shroomcast?
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Some hey man?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
It is really good man.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
I don't want to know how many psychedelics he was
on when he chose the Jets.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yeah, you know, he's the psychedelic first man. They're good man.
I don't even know not what you sound like. We
don't even know. How do you doing? I got psychedelic psychedelics.
It's so scary that big blood is gonna do. Is
that what that is? That's a bad trips more of that.
(12:32):
It's more like added some concent It's more like Paul
barr is what he gets in the next game. All right, Hey, hey,
hey hey, Aaron Rodgers is the king of New York. Okay,
he's the king of New York right now. Let him
be the king. Let him please take my picture. I
want to be everywhere the greatest chores dever. Look how
much I love New York telling him calling it right now,
Aaron Rodgers' biggest media star until they fail and that
(12:55):
star fizzles.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
Live from the Tirack dot Com Studios. We're on the
eve of the NBA Draft. Boy do we have drama.
The Christaps porzingis to the Celtics trade is now off.
Joining us now on the hotline. Nobody better. Longtime NBA insider,
you can follow him on Twitter at the Stein Line.
It is Mark Stein who has at all the details
(13:26):
over the course of the past half hour, show Mark
what happened. We thought this trade was happening. It looked
like it was as close to being a done deal
as possible. What happened here at the.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
End, Yeah, you're right. I think around the league people
were operating under the assumption that this thing was going
to get done. But I was told tonight league sources
tell me that the Clippers raised concerns or discovered concerns
when they took a longer look at Malcolm Brogden's injury status.
Of course, Brogden had the elbow injury that derailed him
(13:58):
in the playoffs, and the Clippers no longer wanted to
participate in the deal. And it's a much tougher trade.
I mean, the Celtics realistically, I don't see how they
can do it just with Boston and Washington direct the
way that deal was structured Marcus Morris from the Clippers
(14:21):
and Boston adding Gallinari to the deal, those contracts were
going to come off the books next season, and now
you don't have those deals in this trade, and so
you need deals like that to help make the trade happen.
So it's a race against time at this point because
or a deal to have it has to happen by
tonight because of Chris Top For Zingis, he has a
(14:45):
deadline in his contract by midnight tonight. He either has
to opt in. That's the only way the deal can
happen if he opts in or has to decide to
opt out. So there's just a lot of moving pieces,
and you've got the Celtics and the Wizards racing against
the clock. Now, see, I mean, can you find a
third team to help me put the street team deal
(15:07):
together before midnight? Not easy? Now?
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Could they move the deadline to make this easier? And hey,
we're going to move the deadline. Did you make this
happen to get an extra day or so or whatever
it would be.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
My understanding is yet that is an option based on
the collective Barney agreement that the Wizards and Christos for
Zingis and his representative, they can agree to move the deadline.
So we'll see if that's an option they look at,
because it would it would It would behoove for Zingis
because I think he really does want to end up
(15:40):
with Boston. That's the best situation for him. Because, as
I reported several hours ago, now the working assumption is
that if for Zingis were to opt in and make
this trade happen, he would then become eligible for a
two year extension with the Celtics in July, and the
belief is that that extension would be or coming, so
(16:00):
it wouldn't just be a one season arrangement for Zingis.
So I think he really does want to get to
Boston if it's possible, and they might need more time.
But the reason the opt out date was set for
today that was not an accident. It's because it's the
day before the draft and everybody wants clarity before the draft.
So I do think it is possible that the opt
(16:24):
out date gets moved, but even that is a negotiation.
And again we're what's thirty five minutes away from the.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Buzzer to that end.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Mark you also on your Twitter account at the steinline.
Chris Middleton and his forty point four million in similar
circumstance here in terms of.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
What the Bucks need to do. How do you expect
that to get resolved?
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah, that's the.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Same basic situation. So Middleton if the option, he's a
forty million dollar player next season, and in July he
becomes eligible for an extension, so the Bucks can work
on trying to resign him to an extension. And the
belief has been that Chris Middleton obviously wants a multi
year deal and so he might have the incentive to
(17:11):
pass on the player option and go to unrestricted free agency,
where a team with cap space like Houston could presumably
go after him. But the fact that it is what
now eleven twenty five ish Eastern, the fact that this
decision for Middleton has gone all day in neither case,
I don't think. I don't think in either case we
(17:33):
expected to be like looking at the clock every second
to see what happens here. So that clearly tells you
Middleton is wrestling with this and his camp, which it's
the same agency that represents both players actually Excel Sports.
What they have to weigh is if we opt out,
what kind of market is there going to be for
(17:53):
Chris Middleton and free agency this summer?
Speaker 3 (17:56):
All right?
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Lastly, Mark, before we let you go, everybody wants to
see what happens with Zion Williamson. Tomorrow the draft potentially
gets traded. What are you hearing? Could Zion actually move
sometime before tomorrow or by the end of the draft.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
I understand why you're asking me, and I wish I
had a concrete answer. The truth is, nobody in the
league knows except the Pelicans themselves. At this point. I
think there's a good deal of skepticism that they really
are prepared to trade him. But I don't think there's
any question that there. You know, there's a level of
exasperation within that franchise. Four years into his career and
(18:34):
they've only seen him on the floor in one hundred
and fourteen games, but they can they really bear with
parting with him four years into it? It was as
recently as December we saw I mean, this guy is
an absolute offensive monster, and the Pelicans were flirting with
the top seed in the West before the hamstring injury
(18:57):
that ultimately derailed zion season. A lot for the Pelicans
to consider. I think this is the most seriously they
have ever looked at potentially trading him. But they want
stoot Henderson. The only way it happens is if they
have a clear path to stoot Henderson, and the only
way they can get scoot Henderson is by surrendering Zion.
(19:17):
But even then, I think if you pulled front offices
around the League. I think you'd get back more skepticism
than belief that Zion could actually move by tomorrow night.
But it's a fair question. It's the right question, and frankly,
it's one that a lot of people around the league
are asking.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
He's on Twitter at the Steinline, that is, at the Steinline.
Check him out Mark Stein dot substack dot com. He's
got all the latest on what happened to the Porzingis
deal and why it fell apart. Check out his podcast
as well. Mark, thanks so much. I know you'd be
busy the rest of the night. If something happens, we'll
call you back.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Sorry to rush you, guys, but I will be here
so I'll talk to you later.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
See Mark hydrate. Great stuff there by Mark Stein. Look,
and he makes a great point and what we talked
about last night when we got into the whole situation
with Zion Williamson and a potential trade of Zion, and
that is when it really comes down to it. Will
(20:18):
they be able to do it? Are they really going
to trade him? Are have they had enough? And they'll
accept less because they'll have to accept less because they're
not trading him. At an all time eye, anybody coming
in is going to come in at the level of yeah,
we're not going to give you like what you did there.
But now but you hear Mark Mark's point, which is
(20:40):
are you really ready to do it? And and that's
that's that's the equivalent of two hundred million dollar questions.
That's you going to work and not liking work for
a while, and and something happens at work and you go,
if they do that, I'm gonna quit. I've been pissed
off at this place for so long I've been I've
been so many I'm gonna quit if they do that
(21:01):
at work. And then you stop and someone says, are
you really gonna quit? Are you really ready to quit
your job? And then you think and go, Okay, well
maybe maybe I might not be ready for that. Like
and the same thing with Zion, the exasperation they have
with him with not being able to be on the
court and now all this Mariah Mills and he's having
a kid, but he's getting embarrassed daily by an adult
film actress. Yeah, we want to we want to go,
(21:22):
we want to go. But then you get to the point,
are you really ready to trade him? Are you really
ready to do it? And when and when push comes
to shove, they're gonna say no and they're gonna back up.
It's like all of this, that's so I said, All
of this I felt was a move by the Pelicans
to just get Zion's attention. Dude, we could trade you.
We're so pissed at you right now. You got to
(21:43):
straighten up and fly right.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
You gotta get your head on straight, because we could
trade you. And that's what this was done to do
because I don't think they're really ready to trade him,
and they did. They did a great job getting that
out into the into the press and all the people
who couldn't who couldn't wait to say they're trading Zion
Williams and by the tray, okay, really sometimes this is
how media gets used. It just happens that way. But
they're just not there when it comes down to it,
(22:06):
right now, are you really ready to trade him?
Speaker 3 (22:09):
And they just aren't going to be well, and that's
the thing, right and only those people in the room know,
as Mark said, is you know where are they based
on what you saw?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Results wise?
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Because when he's on the court, and this is the
hardest part of it all is he's an explosive, dynamic
player whoeverages twenty eight points a game. Talk about the
opening to the season where they're challenging atop the conference.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Could they have stayed there?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Who knows, But in the end he wasn't available for
them to even be able to make that assessment and
physically and is he committing to what they wanted him
to do rehab wise? And this is where we also
get into the fights, and we've seen it with a
number of organizations of your doctors say, ex mind, say
(22:56):
why right in terms of how quickly I can get
back on the court, what kind of.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Minute restriction should I be on?
Speaker 3 (23:04):
And all those we go back to Kawhi Leonard in
San Antonio, one of the most famous of the starting
points for these kind of things. So, whatever the noise
is and there needs to be resolved. The reports that
Zion and his teammates get don't get along so well, well,
are those real or are those just blown up for
the purpose of the narrative as it goes, Because if
(23:28):
it is coming from inside the Pelicans in that regard.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
The phone calls are coming from inside the house, they're
coming from inside.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
If it's people around the Pelicans, then there are a
bunch of dopes, because all you're doing is adding to
the distressed property feel of it all. You dope, yeah,
because like I say, like if they're legitimately leaking out
a bunch of this stuff, all you're doing is hurting.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
And I mean, one, it's going to get people to
back off the trade now. But you know you're making
Zion look bad and making it look worse.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
So I don't know if you're really accomplishing accomplishing much
of anything in the wash right, what's the net positive
of all of that when it's all said and done.
But they did pay him the two hundred million dollars.
You do have, brandon Ingram. You do have a pretty
good nucleus there to build on. You had success when
he was on the court. The main effort is how
(24:18):
do we get you out of the layup line doing
three sixties and back on the court doing that against Denver.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
You know you'd be a great consultant. Hey, Mike Harmon's
gonna come in. I heard this guy's going to come
in and just tell us what he thinks about our business.
And now we're handling things. Are you just walking with
your shorts on and your jaw at the at and go,
you guys are all a bunch of dopes.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
It's true because generally, I mean I can speak from
some mixed here's what the consultants get paid a very
large fee. And I'm not saying there aren't times where
they go outside the box and they find the answers
that haven't already been maybe offered up.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
In meeting rooms.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
But I remember my time at Yahoo, and I saw
some of the checks that were getting cut to a
consulting firm, and all they did was implement something four
of us had talked about in the room for a
long time. And when they interviewed us, they wrote down
extensive notes. They put their letter ahead over the top
and boom, there's our suggestion. I'm like, we paid what
(25:17):
you're paying us what, So you know one of those
I'm happy to go in and be that guy. And yes,
where they are dopey, I would say it. So this
is where it's the cautionary tale of if you're going
to try to leak stuff out to try to help
your bargaining position, also, don't burn the bridge with the
player that you either have to live with or that
(25:38):
you're trying to get rid of either you're making him
look worse to the outside world or internally he's coming
back you've got more dissatisfaction.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
You had to send him some kind of message because
it's like, Okay, we're in this together. We're upset with you.
I know you probably don't like us for whatever reason.
You're separate from the team, all the things you brought up.
But this is one of those tough love conversations that
kind of have to happen. Look, we're married to each
other for the next four years. Now. If this doesn't
go well, we're gonna dump you at the end of
(26:05):
next year.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
But anymous nonsense. But if he's not around the team,
how can you do it? You gotta we gotta send.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Him a message.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Yeah, but it's draft day. You can do that directly.
Here's microphone, I put my name on it.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Well, how do we do this? Well, I know that
he's on Twitter, so let's uh, let's get it out
there on social media that we can trade z Does
he know how to necessarily spell Mariah if we get
him searching? Well, at this point, he's been in the
He's been in the league long enough that stop you.
That's not Mariah Carey, No, no, TJ. You got me
(26:40):
singing emotions with recam uh and clearly a vision of
love that Zion Williams have had for maybe one or
more women in his life. Mills just like he'll be
there for you. Okay, so but but you got he's
been in the league long enough now for the Pelicans,
(27:00):
and know how do we get through to him? Right?
How do we mess to him? Right? It's just like
whenever you meet somebody new. And I found this over
the course of the past few years. And this is
honestly this has helped me as a coach because it's
helped me with my relationship with my parents. Is that
I have to find out what's the best way you communicate? Right?
And I don't mean like you know, but is like,
if I need to talk to you about something, is
(27:22):
your best way in person on the phone? Is it
in person at the field? Is it on text? Is
it on email? Right? And I try these things and
I go, Okay, you know what, this person they won't
email you back for like a week, but if you
text them they'll get right back to you. Or boy,
they don't text your email at all, but they always
want to sit and talk to you at the field
(27:44):
before or after a game. So it's finding that way
to communicate is always a big thing, because I want
you want to be able to have relationships and say hey,
this is what I think with your kid, and here's
what's going on. You got to find that way. The
other part is the kid should be asking the question.
Nobody want to have a relationship. The kids are thirteen fourteen,
they go have a relationship with the parents because they're miners,
and the parents want to know what's going on, and
(28:05):
and uh, you know, they're not on the field, they're
not privy to all the conversations that you have. But
it was there was just a way to just say, hey,
you know, you got to find a way. They got
to find a way to communicate with Zion. If they
thought just hey, getting to his representatives would have been enough,
saying hey, dude, we're thinking about trading you, just so
you know, all right, But obviously that's not enough because
how it leaks and here's where we're at and they're
gonna trade Zion. Yeah, that's something that was out there
(28:25):
for very specific reason because that's what he might respond to.
Because again, you've had four years now to figure out
how to get how to talk to.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Zion right, find him in the third strap world. Yeah,
is evidently where you can make that first guy and
find him quick to right. This is a lose lose
for the Pelicans, and.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
That's where you find him. How is gonna lose? Lose?
Speaker 4 (28:44):
To lose? Lose because if you keep him, he's gonna
continue not to play right and you lose right. And
if you trade him, he's gonna show you. He's gonna
get on the court and show you how good he is. Yeah,
he's gonna remotivate it. Else, he's gonna show them that
he's Zion Williamson.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
He's getting the maxines, go to shoe deals, play three
games a year. I mean, he's the big winner.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
The Pelicans are stuck between you know, stealing from the
Rolling Stones, between the rock and a hard play started
singing that one.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
All you want to do that? Yeah? Nice twitter at
how about a fresco? Mike gets swollen down the Jason

pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Five second Dance Party, The Angels are being shut out Fox.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Yeah, it's more like a ten second dance
party by the way we had it. Dude.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
It's a bullpen game for the Dodgers and the Angels
are still being shut out.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Yeah, it's a big party. Freddie Freeman the only one
to dent the scoreboard. His home run off shoe Heyotani
has given Dodgers a one nothing lead as the Angels
bat in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was
a great night for Otani, twelve strikeouts. Yeah, and they're
gonna end up losing.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Well.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
I don't know the Dodger bullpen as bad as it's been.
At some point tonight you're gonna find the guy who
it's not his night, aren't you. I don't know he
got nine straight shutout anyhow, right on wood boy, But
you know Shani the old saying boy. He pitched great,
But that pitched to Freddie Freeman. He'd like to have
(30:45):
that one back. Does he demand a trade if they
lose this game?
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Well you immediately started seeing all the graphics about how
many home runs he served up over his last several starts,
demanding in trade. That would be fun, you know what.
I'm done with this, so we'll have more on this
coming up. Dodger again, try and hold on to a
one nothing a bullpend game for the Dodgers. Gratorol started it,
Kofax came in in the second. He was pretty good
(31:08):
for a couple of minutes.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Still throw that deceptive Yeah, that's speed oft to you know,
brushed a couple of guys off the play a little bit,
still able to do that. Did a little mean money
like it was the mid sixties one, so it's pretty
Garvey made that great play at first base. That was nice.
And then he held up a sign announcing his Senate camp.
But I bet you didn't know. I bet you didn't
(31:30):
know that I'm a fiddle player. I bet you didn't
know who the greatest basketball player of all time is?
Who is it? Is it Lebron? Maybe? Is it Michael Jordan? Maybe?
Is it George mike In Maybe? Is it Will Go Maybe?
Is it Magic Johnson? Maybe? But if you ask Alabama's
Brandon Miller, who was at his NBA draft presser today,
(31:52):
who the goat is in the NBA? He gave a
bit of a different response through Lebron, is you know
to go to fast back? My vote baths Paul George?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
I just grew up watching him, so is never just
Lebron's right?
Speaker 1 (32:09):
My goat is Paul George. I grew up watching Paul George.
H boy, that got people away from the Hey, we
wanted to talk to you about bringing a gun to
a murder, but instead, wait, what Paul George is the goat?
Is that why he did this? That pretty good misdirection.
We don't ask me about that, asked me about this instead.
Paul George is the goat? Really?
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Oh yeah, and then took a couple of shots at
Jordan talking about where he's at playing at this point,
It's like, dude, sixty years old, It's like, what are
we doing right now?
Speaker 1 (32:38):
He's the presumptive Dumble George, So that means he's gonna
be on Pippins podcast tomorrow just gonna say what's gonna
go is because he was mad at him that he
asked him.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Because Jordan's still doing the Hornets now draft before he leaves.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Right, let let's stick to the Paul George part of
this because I really don't want to talk about Brandon Miller. Uh.
How how Paul George has to walk around his nickname
being Goat because you know that's all anybody's gonna call
him now. You know, on the court, when he misses
a shot, someone's gonna go Goat. They're all gonna yell
at when he's shooting. Goat, Paul George. Goat's tough man.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
That's how it goes because they don't get to yell
at a lot because, as Monsey alluded to you earlier,
he and on the court a lot. No rumor another
guy rumored to be in potential trade. Yeah uh that yeah,
But but it goes back to the Zion thing.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
He's like, what am I getting? Well, at least Paul
George on the court a little bit. We went, yes,
you're getting the goat. And he's on the court a
little bit more than Zion is a little bit. I
mean he you you're looking, you're looking for a guy
to pass up game winning shots at the end of games.
You don't you'll get any better than Paul George. I mean,
he's he's the other.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Locker room in crypto dot com. They would say that
other guy sometimes shies away. Yeah, but oh come on, man,
but he is the best. That Julius.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
No, Julius Randam will take those shots too. He'll just
miss them, he'll miss them. But yeah, but there is
nobody who would you need a shot and crunch time,
the gonna pass that shot up better than Paul George.
It'll be the guy, not me. You take it, I
don't want it well.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
And then he wants to print out of the play
by play so he can point to it saying say
he was open and then say this wasn't our year
when they load up to make a whole bunch of trades.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Wasn't our year, not our year to win all these
crazy ass things. He's the goat. Street lights over spotlight,
Paul George goat. See that's the thing now, kind of
how we say doctor Joe Rogan, Lakers owner Jay Moore.
Now we have to say the goat Paul George, right,
is he auditioning for to work alongside Skip Skip? I
(34:39):
don't know. I don't know, man, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Because that's really what that take gets you into. That's
kind of territory. Uh, it might, it might get you
run around. Hey, you know what, I got some hot
take nonsense for you right here.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Uh, Twitter and out about a Fresco Mike get swollen
down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
So well, we have news coming in right now. Oh boy,
we're gonna get into coming up in about five minutes.
According to ESPN's Adrient Wrochnowski, Oh my life, says Circle
Christaps Porzingis trade that was off. Clippers weren't involved, couldn't
(35:17):
make it happen. It was off. We talked to Mark
Stein about it. There was a there was a deadline
to get it done, which is five minutes from now.
Apparently the Celtics Wizard's trade is done and Porzingis is
a Celtic that's coming up next right here. Now, I
gotta be nervous about the Celtics again.
