Speaker 3 (00:48):
You know, we almost SYNCD up our viewing in the
start of the show and everything perfectly because Bill Nye
with the great and tone these ah doct imes as
we uh watch you endure another Mets loss.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah no, this was perfect. Is walking into the studio.
I watched vogel back pop up to end the game,
and that's it. That's perfect. It's absolutely perfect, absolutely perfect.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Listen and there he is staring you down with his
eyes going, hey, I love I love terrible times.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I love how today. I'm glad we have a Harry
Potter Marathon on tonight. Uh here I am, I am glad.
I'm not glad. I am shocked that. It's like everybody
that rights on the blogger sphere woke up today and said, oh,
you know, the Mets are really disappointed. Yeah, I know
the Mets lost in the very Mets way yesterday, one
hit in the eighth inning, two hit by pitches, a
basis loaded walk, and araybody, bet baby, Yes, I know,

(01:42):
But don't wake up to the fact and say, oh, hey,
guess what the Mets suck.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
We've I've known the Mets have sucked for a long
time now, a long time. You're bringing folks in because
you know, some folks can't work in multitask and cover
more than one sport with really bad content at a time.
So once the NBA Draft was done and the well
how high is the ceiling for Victor? When Bayama blogs

(02:09):
and everything else, it's wait, what's left? Oh, it's baseball season.
See what the Mets are doing? Which has been the
most disappointing and underwhelming. Do we get more hits if
we say the Mets. Do we get more hits if
we say the Padres? Guess what it's uh, it's yeah.
Look here's the thing. Let me just say this before

(02:29):
before I have a quiz for all of you. We'll
start things off. You're pretty good. Quiz for that sucks?

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Well, yeah, they do. Look, no, the Mets and the Padres.
Here we are now getting close to the fourth of
July holiday, and you can see some of the teams
that just have not been able to adjust to the
new rule changes and some teams that have been able
to Because what are we seeing an uptick of now
stolen bases?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Hitting for average? Yeah, you're talking about that for weeks,
you know, Johnny come lately.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, you can't play that. You can't play the shift anymore.
So now average are up around baseball. People are hitting front.
You've got Luis a riaz is making a run at
four hundred. More teams are stealing bases. Look at these
teams that are doing that, that are up near the top
of their division. The Diamondbacks are doing it. You're seeing teams. Hey,
I am adjusting the Reds are doing it. We're adjusting
tabat and the Mets and the Padres are the two

(03:16):
teams that just said we're just gonna throw a bunch
of talented guys out there and see what happens. And
who are the two biggest disappointments of the season in
baseball Mets and the Padres because they did not adjust.
We're just gonna a mass talent and throw it out there,
and you know what, can't do it now. Now you
have to figure out a way to get back to
playing baseball before the shift, before where was less predictable.
Now now it's hey, there's other things you need to

(03:37):
be doing. You can't put a bunch of guys out
there that at two forty and expect all we're gonna
win a bunch of games.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Can't do it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
But those two teams, they're the ones that are most
disappointing because they're just throwing guys out there and you
have to at some point realize, okay, these changes, we
have to adjust a little bit. Yeah, you've got two
of the six worst team batting averages in Major League
Baseball when you're looking at the Yankees and the Padres.
Padres are twenty fifth hitting a team two thirty two.

(04:02):
And that's despite the brilliance of Fernando Tatist Junior once
he got back, because he's been fantastic, And it's not
a story because well again they stink.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Uh. And then you've got the Tigers, Hey stink Mariners
a disappointment coming in at twenty seventh, hitting to twenty nine.
Somebody's World Series pick. Mike, Yeah, well I had hopes to,
but tie. They're tied for twenty sixth with Detroit. And
then you've got the Yankees at twenty eight And we've
talked about it, we made fun of it a bunch

(04:33):
with ariahs Uh and his performance versus that of the
entire Yankees roster not named Judge, and that going into
the into the weekend, Ariah's had more hits than the
rest of the Yankees not named Judge. And now you
get an update that maybe Judge will come back maybe
the second or third week after the All Star Game,

(04:55):
which gives you a little bit of hope. But does
that change fundamentally how you're playing baseball. No, no, it
does not. So it's curious to see, you know, the
first half superstars that have emerged a lot of big players.
I know your Elie Della Cruise getting a.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Little bit of run, M V, P and V.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Look, we're in that strange world where you're you're always
looking for new stories and and resurrection stories. And certainly
for the Cincinnati Reds, that's exactly where we're at. But
for the clubs that did not change, including your Mets,
all you did was spend a lot of money and
get older.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
And we spend a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
A guy that's you know, a pivotal cog and everything,
and and no pt Alonzo. It makes things a much
more difficult proposition. I mean, I should have known.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I should have known when Edwin Diz got hurt celebrating
in the World Baseball Classic, bus folded up. Let's go
back back everything up. Let's like when you get to
the beach for a picnic and it's ready, let's just
go time.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
To go home. Everybody go home, Everybody goes. We tried
to tell but that's the thing. As soon as Timmy L.
Trumpet was out there, he tried to tell you what
it was like.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
All Right, it's a long road ahead.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
That's why you gotta be careful for how much you're
so excited about your Gangreen coming up, buddy, because let's
face it, there's a lot of hoopla and tourism dollars
being spent with the excitement of him returning to prominence.
Your guy Aaron Rodgers that you want to be the

(06:22):
producer of his TV show, So yeah, be careful what
you wish for. The Mets suck.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
At the end of your first year, Discover credit cards
automatically double all the cash back of ear And that's right,
everything you earn is doubled. Seriously see terms. Check it
out for yourself at discover dot com. Slash match. Well,
I always ask every year, I want the Mets to
get into the Jets. The Mets, the Jets, the Mets,
the Jets day get that bridge, And now I may
get there even earlier because the big NFL news of

(06:48):
the day, the New York Mets and the rest of
the NFL is bracing for the NFL to make the
Jets be the hard knocks team. We can't really say no,
but we will make you do it. The Jets don't
want to do it. There's four teams that the league
can tell them to do it, and they can't say no.
The Jets, the Bears, the Saints, looking and some of

(07:11):
these teams are pretty decent, right, they have pretty good storylines, right,
And I've told you that. Hey, you could see some
stuff here and there, but clearly the Jets would be
the big winner because it's Aaron Rodgers. It's everything new,
there's Super Bowl hopes and it's Aaron Rodgers, and hey,
it's Aaron Rodgers. The league didn't want to tell teams, hey,
you have to do it, but they're gonna tell the

(07:33):
Jets apparently we are making you do this. And you
know what, I don't care. I know there's so much
No team is gonna win or lose because they did
hard knocks. The Jets aren't gonna win or lose Week
one or in September because they did hard knocks. Does
it make things a little bit more difficult, Yeah it does.
You don't really want cameras around. But still you're still

(07:56):
beholding the players, you're beholding the teammates, and you're beholding
to everybody else. You're not gonna win or lose because
of this. Does this mean you have to work a
little bit harder?

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Probably, But you're also coming to camp fat more sooner
than everybody else because you have the Hall of Fame game.
And in the end, it really, are you worried? You
just canceled the whole a whole run of of of
workouts because Aaron Rodgers said, yeah, feeling good man, I
will just get a conference to talk and we'll cancel everything.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
I gotta do a few more run throughs of my speech.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
It's not perfect, but it's good because it's you know
it's gonna be It's gonna be a love fest because
Aaron Rodgers is gonna say, give me all the cameras,
Let the guys do their thing. You want me, give
me all the cameras. This is what I want. It's
why he's in New York. It's why I'm sure the
Jets will wind up doing it, because they'll call it.
Aaron Rodgers will say, yeah, let's do it. Why not,
because it's just a bigger thing for him, because he

(08:45):
wants New York, because he wants the brand. We've talked
about this before, and this helps him with his brand.
He this is before anything really happens. He can still
be even a bigger story. I'm in New York now,
I'm Aaron rod here. I am at the Tony's I'm here,
I'm here. I'm going to a Mets game. I'm not
gonna go a Metsican. I'm going to Yankees game now
already does he just he's gonna find a way to
make it all about him, which is great because it's

(09:06):
gonna help him, and it's gonna help him with his brand.
It's gonna help the Jets at least not have everybody
else be in the crosshairs of things, except for the
players who want some of the spotlight. But this will
work out just fine. Aaron Rodgers will lead the Jets
through hard knocks like he's gonna lead the offense through
the season. I don't care you rolled your eyes to me.
Blank you, Mike Carmon. We're going to the.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Super Bowl and you're not.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Or I hope we come to the super Bowl and
we beat you guys forty nine to three.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
That's what I really hope happened. We'll be in Vegas
one way or another. Jets, Saints, Bears, and the Commanders.
Was the fourth team you were looking for? Look, we
talked about it all I was looking for. I just
moved on in my head. I just moved on to
the think about Sam and jet commanders.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
I actually do have stuff on Sam Hobbe. We'll save
that for all the time.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Well, you know what, the card market is already getting
ahead of bold predictions. But when when it comes down
to it, you're you're looking at a a sequence here
for Aaron Rodgers where a lot of this has been
about brand re establishment. Now he doesn't care what you
think about his you know, larger pharmaceutical concerns and those

(10:10):
kind of things, and he lost a lot of fans,
a lot of big talking points going on all that.
But you soften it right, you're a couple of years removed.
For some folks, they either didn't hear it or didn't care.
But now you go to New York and you're the
greatest tourists that we've ever seen. Love everything about of here.

(10:31):
Come out a trip with me. We're gonna go to
insert museum X, and it can be all about Aaron Rodgers.
The Aaron Rodgers you never knew or understood or whatever
else for the Bears. So much going on there. I mean,
you do have a guy that's modeling right now overseas,
so I guess you.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Can go that's good that's good hard knocks overseas problem.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
It's also the same guy that people are saying is
not ready to be an every down player Chase Clayboy yeah,
which is.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Really nothing thing that you haven't heard on this show.
But overseas market saying Okay, they'll just take anything for American.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
But then the Saints, uh you know, Aaron Rodgers, but
just for that, that's still what they Happenally, I don't
want to hear him have to force it like he's
been method acting like you still have some fun with that.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
One will be down easy, Actually.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
It will be great. It's like that kid happy Gilmour
that got his scholarship and Adam Sandler got all excited
for him. But I mean they're there, storylines certainly to
be had with all, but it's nice and easy. Hey, Aaron,
you do this. It's New York, New Jersey. It's a
monster market and you know what we say, so right,
because it's gonna be the exact opposite there, Come on

(11:53):
in if you will. It's not gonna be quite Sanchez
te Bow of years ago, where I was there for
a couple of those practices. That's about his wild Has
it ever got it was almost like they told people
to turn the cameras off once they started running drills
with Tebow because it was so bad, such bad football.
But the other part is, you know, you've got Denver
where Sean Payton's basically not gonna let anybody in. There's

(12:16):
gonna be no radio shows, not a lot of video.
It's gonna be beat it. I mean, Russell Wilson's gonna
be in the greatest shape of his life. All of
those things are coming together. But yeah, open door policy
for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, I'm telling you it's gonna be fine because he
wants this, he want and this is why it's good.
This is why it's gonna work out. Put all the
cameras on me, let me do everything can be about me.
It's okay. I feel good. I got a good team
behind me. I'm ready to go. I got Gardner the
only two people you need to follow with that. That's all,
doesn't matter, doesn't matter the Jets. Watch how a Gardener

(12:48):
holds on to the person filming him. At everything else,
you will get to see how a Super Bowl team
is built from the ground up, and training camp this
year with the Jets on hard knocks and.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
You won't have to produce a post super Bowl documentary.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Then already ready sorry there, it's all ready to go
alrighty red Boom, twitter at owt about a Fresca, Mike
gets swollen dome, Trust me the Jets, It'll be just fine.

(15:34):
la where a bunch of restaurants are right next to
each other, no eye contact whatsoever, and no eye contact.
We were in one eating outside and this star was
in the restaurant right next to us one.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Sitting outside there ye, just with the railing between. Yes, yeah,
maybe a little bit of a topiary.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Okay, so someone less than Eddie Murphy and more than
Rob Schneider.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Uh Schneider was.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
A big star, but it was not.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
For the moment, was not. I mean he's a giant fan,
so just want not Rob SCHNEI it's someone you heard of,
you know, this person that big career in Hollywood.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Buzzing in.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Christ Perfett. I am pretty sure Daniel Craig was on
Saturday Night Live?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Was it Daniel Craig? It was you welcome to the Weekend?

Speaker 1 (16:25):
You made a cast members?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Cast member? He is one of the most famous memes, right,
ladies and generals.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Not someone who's been on the show that could be
a very member cast member. Okay, I will guess Dana Carvey,
Dana Carvey. Okay, Steve to Sell says Dana Carvey a
podcast him. It's Spade, Dana Carvey. It's pretty good. B An, Is.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
That your guest Spade? No? Okay, Will Ferrell and his
wife Okay, Will Ferrell. The restaurant, What restaurant was it? U? Oh,
I didn't know. We could ask for I don't know
the name. I don't know the name of the restaurant.
Give the name of the restaurant, because I.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Was, I was.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
We were eating at a fifties cafe. Uh rockets, No, no, no,
it's a fifties cafe in La It's it's it's called the.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Fifties Cafe Santa Monica, right exactly. And whatever. You didn't
even come and say to me.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Whatever sushi plays is right next to I didn't know
that's where you are a clue to what era? I
yelled out, Frostburg. Well, it's someone who's had a long
career in Hollywood, big long career. You know this person
is I'm gonna say this place's name, like toward Bill Murray,
Era or Steve Martin. Here's the thing, it's not anybody
from the last couple of years. It's not any of

(17:41):
these Who are these people? So you said Will Ferrell,
You said Dana Carvey, Frostburg.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
I'm gonna go Chris too soon. Wow, someone's going to hell.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Just say, Christopher Guest and you didn't mean the other thing.
Christopher Guest, all right, who are you saying?

Speaker 3 (17:59):
Frostburg? Show that had Jamie Leek this weekend.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Adam Sandler, Okay, Adam Sandler, Okay, it does go to
the bagel shop up the corner in that neighborhood. Okay.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Somebody got him to go into the fifties. It was
next to that. He didn't. He went to the sushi.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
This person was at the sushi place, not in the sushies,
ca So not Andy Samberg to recent not not not
Andy Samberg.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Was not in the bar.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
All right, pet, you're the last one to guess.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Fred Armison, Fred Armison, So we had Fred Armison, Adam Sandler,
Will Ferrell, Steve Garvey, sorry and data carve you are
all incorrect? Alright, one more guess damn okay, Chris Rock
not Chris Rock was not Chris Rock. Mike Myers was

(18:48):
McDonald was, Oh wow, you're really going, You're really going? Hell,
person was by themselves just pulled up, got out of
a really sweet car.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
The same male or female? Did we know?

Speaker 1 (19:01):
I did not say male or female?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Gonna guess next? Is it?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Molly Shannon is dan Ackroyd still live and got right out,
got right on the phone, like, okay, walk just like
this person walks in real life.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
I'll start to get me. I'll start, Fred will turn
on friend. Okay, I'll start, so we'll turn on phone.
I'll start giving you hints.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
What did you say?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Frostburg?

Speaker 1 (19:30):
John Lovett's very good Rosberg John lovet just like it's
John Lovets and Zoe turns around, going from a league
of their own. I said, yes, I love you. Yes,
it was actually leave Muigan shuit cha you.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Didn't see benchwarmers. Oh that's the ticket, So.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
John John, I'm like, oh my gosh, John Lovetts. And
the thing is there was like nobody else at any
of these restaurants. It's like four restaurants right next to
there was. We were the only ones outside the fifties cafe.
He was one house.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
I have no idea who the hell he is.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
And I think he went inside, like oh, I'm the
only one out here.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
I'm gonna sang a genius.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
And you didn't say hi, I liked but he was
the death No, because then he was outside and then
after outside it's a fair game, you can say high
outside side. The thing is, after a little while he
went inside and and I'm like, oh, I think he
went inside because there was nobody else out.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Did you ask him if they could bring back the critic?

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Hey, you know that was really good. I like this
ship critic was fun.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
He does have good sushi taste.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I'll tell you that, Okay, okay, all right, Well now
I gotta go to that sushi place.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
He was on Las Vegas for Johns.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
This is his lastl was nineteen ninety. Yeah, well then
he got then became then became a big movie star
in the ninety he did.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
He was in uh thirty three years ago.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yeah, Clickers. Yeah it was a big it was a
big deal, right, Yeah. John Lovetz has had a big
long career if you're in an altered state. So there
you go, John Lovets, all right, so there you go.
None of you so I don't buy dinner. None of you,
excuse me, none of you got it. You had it
on like your fourth guess, third, your third.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
That's pretty Wait.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
You never mentioned that there was a guest limit. I said,
I said, you guys get on the very begins. If
you guys get one guess, you guys get one guess.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
That's what it is.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
But it told us the place after you told us
the place, there was one guest after perfect guess. Daniel
Craig for some drag all the comedy, he weakened. Yeah,
when he when he debuted? When when he when he debuted?
Benoi Blanc on SNL oh, I suspect foul play.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
We should turn this.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Into a movie character that is kind of an s NL.
This is a very SNL carrot talking a little like
fog holes about donut holes. Donut it's your center. The
donut is not a donut, but the doughnut itself has
a lot of chocolate on it, so the trump But
if you fill the donut and the donuts not a
donut hole, then the donut hole is something you can

(21:58):
just buy separately and eat because you could get twelve
donut holes for four dollars and thirty nine cents, but
you get six donuts for six dollars and fifty nine cents.
I've solved this.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
We can never get that time back. You're the murderer guy.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
I've solved all those child like puzzle.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I'd buy that for a dollar.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harman,

out for yourself at discover dot com slash match. Well, arm,
you remember back to School, all right? The movie De Ronnie.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Okay, he's celebrating the legacy of Packson Whitehead all week exactly.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Let's just say their widgets and you remember that movie
was the debut of Sam Kinnison h Am who died
in a car accident. That's mister helper. But his famous
catchphrase when he would get to the end was always
say it.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Just say it.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
That's where I am right now with Damian Lillard. That's
where I'm right now. I've had enough of reports out
of Portland because today he met with the Blazers and
this is after there are a lot of videos put
up online of them taking his picture down from the
front of the arena. Meanwhile, the GM says, Hey, we
talked with Damien and his agent today. We're committed to

(23:22):
building a winner around him. You know what, just say it,
say you want out, be the bad guy. We're all
done with this. Oh, every year it's poor Damian Lillard,
and every year he stays. So it can't be that bad.
He can't be that upset about not winning because every
year we can't win. Yet every year he stays. So
you know what, just say it. Just say it, Say

(23:45):
you want out, be the bad guy. I don't want
to hear your message through somebody, through somebody else anymore.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Just say it.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Say you want out. They will trade you. You can
get to the Heat, whatever team you want to get to.
But you have to say it. You gotta stop with this. Oh,
I'm gonna let people talk about it, and then at
the end we're all suckers because it turns out to
I've always loved Portland.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
I've always wanted to stay here. Portland's a great player.
Why I don't ever want to go to some plaze?

Speaker 1 (24:08):
I's not a just you have to say it, say it,
say it, say.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
It, say it, say it. Because he was too big
A uh wait, I can't say that life. Uh Look,
Chris Haynes had the report Mike only, yeah, exactly, only
not only about the team and the meeting and everything else,
but also that quote Damian Lillard doesn't want to play
for a stacked team. Quote. He doesn't want to be

(24:34):
on a team where it's just three all stars or
three superstars. He just wants a team that has a shot. Again,
why why does that come up at all? This is
the team I have in Portland. Welcome to Portland, Scoot.
I'm excited because evidently he was in the process right
and saw the workouts and whatever else. It was pretty

(24:57):
excited about the player that Scoot Henderson is. So to
get this, like, all right, so now you're acknowledging Yeah,
I'm amenable to leaving, but here's where I want to go.
So now you're also dictating terms through Chris Haynes right,
not just well, you know what, I really like it here,
because you could argue with the photo thing outside the

(25:19):
arena of you know what, at some point you got
to get rid of and on your badges or whatever else.
You got to use a current photo as opposed to
one that's been in the system for a decade, because
you don't look like that, you don't have the same hair,
you put on a couple pounds, and I'm talking about
us in general. You know, wherever you're getting credentials, like, hey,
when did you get that photo taken? Ah twenty twelve,

(25:40):
And that's about where we're at with Damian Lillard. Maybe
they just needed an update with the picture in the process.
They can argue it that way in the interim. If
you're having meetings about your future, you've decided that the
future probably isn't there because you've been doing this dance
for eleven years and everybody's brought out their violins and
they've gotten smaller every year. For Damian Lillard, the loyal superstar,

(26:04):
and I'll give him credit to a point, except that
every year we have the back channel, it's like, might
be done with this. I know, even when McCallum was
still there, like we had this chatter like just say
you're done, because you're clearly flirting with it.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Yes every year and then oh no, but I don't
want to. But but you gotta say it, you gotta say.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
You gotta guy, Like I told you on Friday, you're
gonna upset the people of Portland. Too bad.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
There, they've had him for eleven years.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
That's the point. Anderson comes in. He's the sad guy.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
It doesn't it doesn't matter, it's eleven years younger, just
say it, just just because every year is why would
I want to leave?

Speaker 3 (26:41):
But yet I'm kind of flirting with it.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Dude, Just decide, And I'm not saying you gotta go,
but just decide.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Just decide.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
All right, you're thirty three. How many peak years do
you have left? Two or three? Maybe go go, But
you have to say, when did Aaron Rodgers? When did
it happen? When Aaron Rodgers goes on Pat McAfee show,
And finally, as I told the packers it's my intention
to be in New York jet that was it. He
had to say it, he had to say it publicly.
We've been waiting for that to happen, and that's how

(27:08):
the trade happened. That was a huge seminal moment that
no one I'm never gonna forget it. My intention is
to be a jet. You gotta say it. You have
to come out and say I want out none of this.
Here's a message through Chris Haynes, through somebody else. Maybe
stop trying to ride both sides. But Chris Haynes just
be like, you know what, We've run its course. We're

(27:29):
not going to win here, and I've kind of resigned
myself to It's been a great run. I mean I'm
excited to experience something different. You could still say that
through Chris Haynes. But throwing out a line like hey,
he'd rather be with, you know, a team versus hey,
a front loaded, superstar laden squad, it's just nonsense. I mean,

(27:50):
I don't want to go with too many stars. I
want to go with a couple of stars. What I
don't want too many stars?

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Like what do you? What do you? Even goes back
to remember how everybody crucified James Harden when he went
to the podiums like yeah, I get done. I stood
up and applauded here in the studio. Finally, someone just said,
I'm done.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
I'm out, I'm out. I mean, that's what you have
to do. You gotta do it. Be a man, be
a man and stand up and do it because all
of us, every single off season it's the same and.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
We keep falling for it.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Oh, look at Dame, look at Dave, Like I like
being talked about. But in the end, yeah, maybe the
pressure's too much me Because that's what I'm thinking, is
the pressure is too much for him? Like does he
want to go somewhere? Because wherever he goes, if that
team doesn't win, he's gonna get the blame because he's
the new guy. If he goes to the Heat and
the Heat have a bad season next year, Jimmy Buckets
ain't getting the blame. He's getting the blame. Is he

(28:40):
ready for that? That's what I wonder, because you've had
chances now to leave after you saw Okay, it's not
gonna work in Portland. We tried for a long time,
it didn't. Do I really want to go? You could,
and you still have your pick of teams anywhere you
want to go that will trade for you, that will
make you a big.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Part of it.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Do you really want to do it? Do you really
want that pressure? That's what I think with Damian Lillard.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Now in my mind entire time we've been talking about
this has been running the scene in The American President
when they're playing pool and Michael Douglas and Martin Sheen
get after. It's like you'd be the most popular professor
at the University of Wisconsin and you'd be there watching me.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
You would take Lillard in a second for Jalen Brunson,
of course. No no, no, no, no, no, I thought
you said for Julius Randall.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Yes, RJ. Barrett. No, no. The only guy that we
can't trade is Jalen Jalen Brunson is the culture? Do
you not know?

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Kay, we can't trade jail in Portland. No, no, no, we
can't trade Jillen Brunson. Anybody else? Yeah, anybody else? Anybody else?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeh.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Charles not Charles b No, no, no, unless unless TJ.
He had a death wish to be traded. We're not
getting Charles Bronson, Twitter and ou about a Fresco Mike
at Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (29:55):

Tony Fusco Show on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike harmon and maybe maybe I don't know for
a fact, but maybe maybe one of the reasons the
NFL supposed is gonna make the Jets do Ard Knocks
is because I got gonna have another story besides Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
As now, there are.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
A lot of arrows pointing to Dalvin Cook, New York Jet.
The Jets have been pushing for him. A couple of
players over the weekend tweeted out and then Tyler Conklin,
who played his first four years with Minnesota, tweeted out, hey,
come to New York and Dalvin Cook liked that tweet.
So now Dalvin Cook, who was still sitting out there,

(31:53):
could be linked with the Jets.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Now, this is what I mean. This could just be Hey.
I learned from watching you and seeing people make it in
arguments about athletes engaging on social media right, and and
base a lot of their their theories on who players are,
you know, based on them having a little bit of
fun at the keyboard. But Delvin Cook could just be
having a little bit of fun with you, just stirring

(32:17):
the pot.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I am, I am sure all this stuff going on.
It makes me feel like, boy, Breese Hall really ain't
gonna be ready. Everything tells me he's running in a
straight line. I don't know, but I don't know that
it's that he's not ready, it's that is not is
he going to be ready for a heavy work?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Your your goal is not hey we eke into January. No,
this is we're running through to the super Bowl and
we're getting to Las Vegas, which means you are going
to do everything you can, like so many teams have
before you, to stack that running back room so that
you don't have to do all that were entarorly. But

(33:02):
I'll be honest with you, like I ever lie, I
really am stunned that Dalvin Cook is still out there,
even to the point after the first couple of days
went by and whatever thoughts he had in his head,
Oh we're gonna get three years and twenty four million
something like that, at some point I would expected him
to have all Right, now, I understand what my market

(33:25):
is and what teams are interested in me.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
And I don't know if he's expecting something to happen,
or if he's expecting suddenly a team is gonna say, hey,
we have the money for you. Because anybody who was
gonna spend the money would have offered it to them already.
But it's obvious that everybody and teams want him under
very specific circumstances, and it's nothing that he likes. Same
thing with DeAndre Hopkins, right, Oh, I thought, I get no.

(33:48):
Obviously you are not the stars you thought you were,
or someone would have given you a lot of money
you would have signed already. No one is out there
is long because they want to be out there. They're
out there because they have no choice. But I really
am stun no one has come up with some kind
of offer a good team and said, hey, Dalvin Cook,
who's still got a couple of good years left, Maybe
not more than two because then he's gonna be thirty

(34:08):
and he's got a lot of carries, but the next
couple of years. I really am surprised. DeAndre Hopkins, I'm not,
because who knows the guy's any good anymore. It's been
three years for him. Dalvin Cook is still a belcow
running back that's gonna run. You can run for twelve
hundred yards, the good on the goal line. He's a
three down back, he said.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
One.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
You don't have to worry about replacing him. He can
have whatever kind of role you need him to have
on a team, and for what a running back's going
to make, he knows it's gonna make. I really am
surprised he's still out there.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
I mean I've talked about it with DeAndre Hopkins and
where he's at. I think he's a more athletic version
of where Bolden was in his final years. Guy that
can move the sticks, guy that can dominate in the
red zone, right because he can blow post you with anybody,
and then he still has enough burst. Just it's not
there all the time. Yeah, right, And we saw that

(34:54):
with Arizona, and take all that with a grain of salt.
You also had the suspension when it comes to him.
When it comes to Dalvin Cook, I don't know that
there's not a little bit of wait and see with Hopkins.
Maybe a little bit too of all right, market hasn't materialized.
Do I necessarily want to go to mini camps anyway? Nah?
I kind of like my name being floated out there.

(35:16):
Certainly there's gonna be people to think to the negative
side of where they're at in their respective careers or
what their demands are whatever, But no urgency to get
into a spot. I mean, Cook's talked a little bit about, hey,
I could be that guy I was in college again, right,
I could be that player and all that, and really
trying to hype himself a little bit. And let's face it,

(35:37):
we live in a different world every thirty seconds in
the National Football League, right, the old Kevin cost draft
day line comes to bears, like, maybe you've got a
couple of places you like, kind of like Jets, Dolphins,
everybody else in the AFC East.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
My brother's in Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
I've been talking about teaming him up with his brother
for while, So I'm trying to speak that into you.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
No, no, no, we we have James Cooking dynasty.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
We don't want that. We don't want that.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Stop that, stop that prank caller, prank caller, James Cook.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
It's more about it's more about may analysis, but it's
the idea also that guys get hurt, things change circumstances.
Desperation comes in when you realize the shiny new toy
you got is broke or you didn't get the batteries
for it. And there's Dalvin Cook sitting there waving at you,
going put me in. I'm ready to play now. At
twelve oh five. Yeah, but Sanna cave.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
The longer you go without a team, the less money
you're gonna get. That's kind of how the more the
more attractive you are, you get paid. You get that
offer big right away. And if you're sitting out, you're
waiting for a situation that may or may not materialize.
We know, you know you're not getting paid, you know,
and it's like it's like cooking and Hopkins are stuck
in that. Boy, we still want the image out there

(36:53):
that we're stars. How do we how do we flip
this narrative of nobody signing us into something.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Oh, we're waiting, we're waiting.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
No, you're not waiting, because if you've got a good
offer from somewhere, you would have been signed.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Off well today. The way you had that happen was
I must have seen at least fifteen different people that
covered the NFL making sure to remind me of all
the guys who are still unsigned at every.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Position, because that's how it goes.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
And the picture of Carson Wentz with the bear that
he killed.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
That was that was Carson Wentz Carson Twitter and now
about a Fresco Mike and swollen down The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmen. If people wanted them,
they'd be signed.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
But that's gonna be desperate.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
I'll be I'm okay with the Jets getting I told
you I'm gonna get a cook. I'm stunned Dalvin Cook
is still.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
I'm just going to get a cook.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Coming up next, nobody's under siege, but we'll tell you
about baseball history. We could be seeing Fox
