Speaker 4 (00:49):
Look, I will say this really fast.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Steve Cohen's press conference today, Mets owner saying listen, I'll
make trades. I'll make the moves I need to. I
consider the money already spent. Everything I want to hear
as a Mets fan going this is a disaster.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
He did say Buck Showalter was going to make it
the whole season, And I told you last hour, Hey,
I thought if you could fire Buck Showalter and things
would turn out better, do it. But I don't see
how firing him makes things better because the Mets just
think I'm gonna amend that. I'm going to amend that
because if the Mets fire Buck Showalter and replace him
(01:23):
with Frank the Tank that I'm in for it, well
we could do.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
That that.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I am complete for if the Mets replace it with
Frank the Tank that I want to see, and he's
got and he's got a man, it's just like how
he dresses the big Mets jersey and jeans and hat.
Oh you know, he's got it. He doesn't have to
wear the uniform. He just dresses that way. And he's
miked up for the entire game. No one d percent
that I'm okay with.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
Yeah, I just look at it from the like sunk costs. Likewise,
you can say, hey, this was not a good decision,
good mix whatever. Man, if they're not listening to the
manager and he's getting his ass thrown out of games
and he's mismanaging the bullpen, which Frank the Tank, and
anybody else that's watching this team can see, it becomes
(02:08):
a legitimate question, right, And as we always joke about
from draft day and so many other things and real
life things change in a you know, turn on a dime.
All right, we live in a different world than we
did thirty seconds ago. I like the sunk costs thing.
I like that that's coming into the vernacular and being
spoken that way. Right. Whenever anybody gets all mad going well,
(02:29):
what are you gonna do that to the player, it's like, well,
because you'd like we talk about Trey Lance, and we
will a lot for the becoming weeks and into training camp,
Like those picks aren't coming back. If he can't play,
he can't play. If he can't win the job, he's
now becomes an asset and a cost on the books
(02:52):
that you just look at. All right, that's sunk. We
made a mistake. How do we not make a mistake again,
Let's move on and well now it's Sam Darnold or
Brock Party, Brock party, thank you, Paul Haymon. But just
that idea here, I like it as well, just going hey,
we can't be it's business, never personal.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
No, no, no, right and listen and if we bucks sorry,
but Frank the Tank is someone who we really need,
we really need.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
To really need, we really need to see what he
has to say. Well, but you're also a guy.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
I mean, we talk about it a lot. I mean
I could I could have them play back the tape
we're talking about. You know, the jump and the spark
that you get when you fire a manager. M right, man,
Maybe this case, as much as you respect the the legacy,
the history, the and everything Buck Showalter did as an
actor on Seinfeld, maybe that change would spark something. I'm
(03:46):
not saying it would, but you know the old Hey,
we got to look and evaluate everything there. Doesn't need
to be loyalty there either.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
But just think, just think of Frank the Tank's press conference.
You would root for the Mets to lose just to
hear what he would have to say at the end.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Well, he'd get thrown out of a lot of games.
Oh yeah, he might not make it. Yeah, that's that's
the manager to get thrown out for cursing out his
own players.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Is he arguing balls and strikes? Yeah, he was saying
his players should have swung the bat in no uncertain terms,
and it was picked up by the microphones because we're
playing in Oakland and there's eight people here.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
From a pool reporter after the game, why did you
walk into the Mets dugout to eject their manager?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Can you tell us that?
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Well, he was saying some things that I was really
offended by some of the Mets players, so I had
to throw them out.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
He told New Jersey Transit worst.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
These people have families.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Oh, just in Frank the tank managing the Mets, Jason.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Have you ever asked her dad Walter, if he had
another son?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Uh? No, We've never had that conversation. I I I
think he.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Would say he's just one in science.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Man.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
No, but he would feel if it himself is a
failure because he's a Yankee fan and what happened is
both his kids would turn out to be Mets fans.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
He would think of that as being a failure.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, he did something bad in his first life. Yeah,
both his kids are Mets fans. Man, I really can't believe.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
You know what I think about it.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Growing up, I'm like, why didn't my dad like try
to make me into a Yankee fan?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Like why didn't he do that?
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Like why didn't he try to say, hey, let's watch
the Yankees all the time.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
You get it that much.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
No, No, I get it. This is stuff for therapy session.
This is not National Sports time you go to this one.
I mean we're I mean I thought we were, you know,
the Trust.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
But as my dad.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Told me, he'd be something silk. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
He said, when you were little, because I first started
watching baseball when.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
I was four, something I've never seen very young.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
And now remember this is nineteen seventy four and you.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Were four and seventy four.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
A lot of people, yeah, because I'm fifty I'm fifty
two now, so I'm four years old, and a lot
of people. You know, you had maybe one color television
set when when you were in the seventies, and you
had a black and white set whatever it was.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
And my dad said that I would.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Watch baseball because I had watched baseball, and I would
watch the Yankees. And you didn't really care about the Yankees,
because why I'd either either watch them on a black
and white TV or the Yankees uniforms are black and white. Well,
didn't they stink in the seventies, No, the Yankees were good,
to say, yeah, by the time, we're good.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
In the seventies, well.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Not in seventy four. They got good in seventies, seventy five. Set.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
I was gonna say the early seventies they stunk.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, but the mid seventies they started playing. Well, you
know they won seventy seven, they won in seventy eight.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah, I know, eighty one. Yeah, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
So but my dad said, when I would put the met,
because you would watch baseball, you would watch the Yankees
and the Mets. Right, it didn't met Just like in Chicago,
you watched the Cubs in the white even.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
If you hated them, you watched the Cubs were on
in the afternoon, right, and the way you came home
from school, you fought your mom for the television because
she wanted to watch General Hospital. He said, beat it.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Yeah, Like, if I'm watching the Mets as much as
I the Mets went to a commercial, I would flip
over to the what are the Yankees doing?
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Rooting for them to lose? But you still watch both games.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
But my dad said, I just lit up when the
Mets were on, likely because because they were so colorful,
because they had the bright blue and the orange, and
you're just seeing them move around. TV was much more
fun than just these black and white uniforms. It was
just okay, that's great. That's what I got. He said,
I like the colors. He goes, you rule.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Over Keith r Nandez's mustache.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
No, come on, come on. I was I was in
I was a teenager. I knew better at that point.
Uh no, this this is when the Mets were really bad.
It's like, this is like after seventy after they won
the World Series, went to the World Series in seventy three,
and then they were then they got they got into
a decade of being terrible. Uh but he just I
just love watching them move around. So that's where it
went to. If if if my three and a half
(07:38):
four year old brain liked seeing the color orange when
I go to college?
Speaker 4 (07:41):
What to Syracuse? Why orange? Who else?
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Do I like the Knicks? What are their colors? Blue
and orange? There's something there, There's a there's a pattern there.
But that's all. It was as simple as that. I
just like watching the Mets. But I can't believe he
didn't make me watch it.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Hey, look the Yankees are really good.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Here.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Look here's Reggie Jackson. Here's it.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Because when I'm five or six, years old. Suddenly, Hey,
the met stake. Look how good the Yankees are in
the World Series. We're playing the Reds, We're playing the End,
We're playing the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Or were looking at this.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
He's Reggie Jackson. Everybody's talking about Reggie Jackson. He never
did that to me.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Parents were supposed to guide you the right direction.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
He was and he turned me into a Met fan.
And I don't know why I did that. Maybe wow,
maybe he just didn't really like me at all.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
That Catharsis after all these years, and you didn't have
to pay a therapist. We got paid on radio. But
you know, it's part of the national dialogue. Now. Maybe
maybe it's like a boy named Sue situation. Maybe he
knew things would suck more often than they would if
you were a Yankee fan and you had to learn
things the hard way, just like the classic Johnny Cash song.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
And it's not just you, Jason. He clearly hates Frank too.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Yeah, maybe how could you hate Frank? I mean, come on,
Frank is back.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Frank is more passionate about the Mets, and I'm most
passionate guy.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
In the world about them.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Like a crocodile.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
He makes me.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
He makes you look a guy that fall asleep on
the TV in the second inning.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
I mean, that's what Fritz or Frank the tank is. Man.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
I'll tell you, well, that's one of those things. You've
got to have other hobbies many otherwise this stuff will
eat you.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, that's hey, that's what hey, man, the Jets have
Aaron Rodgers, the Mets, the Jets.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
That's the Jets. All it is.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
I watched the Steve Cohen interview today and saying I'll
trade everybody. Okay, that's great, and the Mets respond by
losing to the Brewers five too.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Okay, we're moving on.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
All I gotta all I gotta think is now, Hey,
any Mets gear I want to buy the rest of
the season is gonna be really cheap.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
So Alonzo for Cyndegard.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Correct, sure, but you have, but you have to take
Verlander two. No, yeah, no, you have to. Now, come on,
They're not just gonna give guys away. You gotta gotta
take the You gotta take the guys with the big money.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Hey, Hey, Kate Upton comes to she can, but stack.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Dude for Kate Upton is like vacationing in Saint Barts
or as she is. This is far away from New
York right now.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Is very very smart, very very smart way to go.
Just extract yourself from the negative press of the Mets.
And I'm sure Justin's not a very nice guy.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
To be around right now.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
No, he's a horrible human.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Mets have lost six in a row.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Well, he did play for the cheat and Astros.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Hey, honey, yeah, listen, you know I have that shoot
in Saint Bart's right.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Oh you do.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah, I told you about that last month. When you
leave in ten minutes, I'll be back in uh for
the deadline. I mean, I'll be back at the end
of the month. I'll see you. Then I'll tell me
when you guys are good, or if you start, or
if you can win more than one game in a row,
then that'll show that'll show up and come back for you.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
That'll be great.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
She's in the Bahamas wearing Yankee gear.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Try to make that happen.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
No, hey, seriously, serious thing, serious thing, okay, Jason Smith
show Mike Carmon live from the tyrech dot Com studios.
This is how ready I am for football now. That
not that I wouldn't be, because you know, we have
we have baseball. You know, the baseball season still going
going really well, a lot of exciting stories.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
You ShW me. I'm a baseball fan more than anything else.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
But here's how Red am for football and especially ready
for fantasy, is that Mike and I we do a
dynasty league with a big industry league with Michael Fabiato
a bunch of other people in it. And we have
the first pick this year because our team was bad
last year and once we hit the middle of the
season as general manager, I decided to tank and we
wound up with the number one overall pick.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Right, So we're waiting to do that draft.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
We're gonna have Bejeon Robinson, which is gonna be awesome, right,
everybody's making trade offers.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
For me at workload split.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, We're gonna get him, right,
and I'm wait And I actually I had.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
A dream last night.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Dream Yet no it wasn't because and here's what, why
can't I have dreams like I'm surrounded by supermodels instead
I have? I had a dream where we it was
the draft, and you know, we're drafting on our phones
because we have the app on our phone. And I
kept trying to draft Bjon Robinson, and it was one
of those things where you have like an hour to
draft the player. Uh, and mean, well, that's not how
it is, but in my dream, and I kept trying
(11:54):
to type in Bijon Robinson's name and it kept auto
correcting to something else, and I would hit I would
hit enter, and it would say, cannot draft this player,
and I would see why did autocorrect to something else?
And I'm looking, I'm going, now, there's only forty five
minutes left until we draft this guy. And I'm very
painstakingly typing his name into the phone and it's not working.
And then I'm calling Fabiano. He goes, Everything is fine
(12:15):
on my end. I don't know why you can't do it.
I go, but he's a guy want he goes. You
gotta enter it in the phone. That's the way it's
gotta go. And I kept typing his name and it
wouldn't let me do it, wouldn't recognize the player, and
I couldn't draft him. And I'm watching in the clock
is stacked. There's a half hour left, now, there's fifteen minutes.
Let's someone there's three minutes left. And I'm typing up
typing in Robinson and it shows me like like a
thousand names and I can't find beyond Robinson's name. I'm going,
(12:37):
what is happening? I can't draft this guy? And I
woke up, but I'm like, what the hell is wrong
with me?
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Man?
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I know I'm ready for football, but it was the
whole time I couldn't draft it because it kept auto correcting.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
I got problems, man, I got problems. Yeah, that's.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
I mean, it's really early for that. I mean, Byron
and I Sunday we got into the whole thing his
league's going through where they're they're long standing league and
trying to do their live draft and there's a lot
of a lot of angst and chaos, you know, the
wives and girlfriends like for a draft, No, you can't
leave for three days. So we had that discussion, so
you can find that up in the podcast form. But
(13:18):
to be thinking about drafts that much, I mean, I'm
trying to get connected to a league that I'm in
in the the industry stuff, and they're not accepting my passwords.
So I don't know if I've been kicked out and
nobody bothered to tell me.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
The case.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
I mean I've won a couple of times in these
leagues the last couple of years. But uh, here we
are talking fantasy football already before July one.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Oh, it's already right, But you're having.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Bad dreams about players. That is weird.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
It kept auto correcting the different people.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Then it would go oh, then it would auto correct
to someone who I didn't want a draft.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Who was I thought?
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Name was Nate Robinson.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
No, it was a Nate Robinson is all? No, no, no,
it was Truck Robinson. No, I can't get him. No,
all these days who I can't hit enter at that?
I got to back off, and it was so stressful,
and I'm like, why do I have a dream like that?
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Why?
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Why?
Speaker 4 (14:08):
There's gotta be Oh, there's got to be something wrong
with me.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
That really does Oh you're a Mets fan.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Yeah, that's a lot of it. Yeah true.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
I mean you just did that whole cathartic thing that
and you come back going there must be something wrong
with me. You just talked your way through it. We
helped you on air, and America was there for it.
I mean it was really a groundbreaking thing. Oprah would
get Emmys for this. Yeah, So where's mine? Where's mine,
Where's my golden microphone?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
And you and you get a number one overall pick
and you get a number one overall pick and you
get a number one overall pick and you get Yeah,
I don't know. I don't know, man, I just I
feel better talking about it. But I now I'm also embarrassed,
and I feel I don't know. I just got problem.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
We need to be able to talk through these things.
It's an important part of the healing process.
Speaker 2 (14:57):

(15:32):
to the NFL in a second. Has done a remake
of Billy Joels. We Didn't start the fire covering everything
from nineteen eighty nine to twenty twenty three here.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
So they got the Mets sucking in they do. Mets suck.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Mets suck again, suck, Mets suck, they suck again.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
We didn't win a ballgame.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
He started a dumpster fire, jet skid Aaron.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Rodgers uh, And I gotta say, listening to it, it
was interesting. They covered a lot of stuff. But I'm
just sitting here going, you know, I remember, you know,
we didn't start the fire. And there's still some things
that Billy Joel sang in that song that I still
have no idea what.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
It is he's mentioned. I'm like, okay, I still don't
know what that is.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
And this is thirty years agoing by I haven't looked
it up, but I you know, listening to this version now,
because it's all things that I've lived, because a lot
of stuff that Billy Joel did started in the forties
and the fifties, and you know, all right, he's he's
going through history all the way up until the late eighties.
But now it's everything that I know, you know, from
nineteen eighty nine because that's when I'm nineteen years old
until now, and I go wow, a lot of really
(16:34):
bad things have happened. I mean, just the song is
so negative. It's just full of so many negative things.
I mean, it's got positive things that been going wow.
There's just so many bit wow man, this is this
is part of depressing a little bit listening to it. Yeah,
this is the first time I've heard it. And as
it came in, I was like, wait, I don't this
(16:55):
isn't Billy Joel. Who's covering Billy Joel.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
I figured it was another all true Weezer cover, you
know where they don't actually do anything creative with the
song and just put it out and instead, you know,
I was pleasantly surprised it was someone else kind of
doing the same thing with and obviously changing lyrics here instead.
But the there I just found an article that says,
(17:17):
here's the thirty three things that are wrong with this,
just like that opening with Captain Planet no references to
OJ Titanic, Monica Lewinsky or The Simpsons.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Too soon with Titanic Man.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
The article on Slate, I well, I just just say
in the movie was kind of a big deal, and obviously,
you know, like we had in a lot of these
other situations when you're talking about your your your teams
and they're ineptitude. You can't you can't use that example
right now. I mean you just can't. But yeah, thirty
(17:54):
three things wrong with the song for all the omissions
or bad rhyme conventions that they tried to force.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
No, maybe some things you can't rhyme. You know, certain
things you can't rhyme. It didn't work well.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
I mean, look, I also think that that we didn't
start the fire as a song that I could write
in like an hour. I just find me a whole
bunch of things. I got the whole beat, I know
the music. I have to write it too. I could
write it, and maybe that's how it was. But you
could do whatever you want to, you know, put it
in a song and find whatever you know, historical things
you want. It's just there were so many negative things.
I'm like, it's not even a fun song to listen
to because all it does is remind me about all
(18:26):
the horrible things that have happened in the last we
get fry fest in. I think they did get firefest in.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
There.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
You said fry fest. I think you've been fire well, I.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Mean that happens every Friday. Yeah. Next you add all
levels of cheese and condiments over the top cheese and condiments.
Like if we were to say, go to a certain
sandwich spot, you might put some fries in your sandwich.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Man, that could have been something. We didn't start the fire.
Fries in the sandwich you eat could work that way.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
It was a little forced, but yeah, okay, I just
it just really what I listen to go, oh, I'm
excited to hear it, and.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Then I go oh yeah, oh yeah that was yeah,
that was awful. Oh yeah, yeah, man, just to.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
They chose to, Yeah, deal in disaster and death. Doesn't
mean we have to go do that. Yeah, but we're
all about positivity here.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I like, they got Harry Potter in.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Yeah, they did get Harry Potter in. They got Harry
Potter in. Yeah, they got in the line Harry Potter
is dead.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Uh if you get to laugh, I mean that would
really sell it over the top.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
No, I think our version of the we didn't start
the fire for the Browns quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
I think that was better. That was good. We did.
That was a while ago. He did that.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
We have to update that because it's been like the
Browns have had like eleven more quarterbacks since we did that.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
That was a few years ago.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Yeah, now everybody's got their big thought pieces. Did you
remember that Amari Tumor was good? Nobody ever said he wasn't.
Not Amari Tumor. Mary Cooper, Sorry, I'm going I'm going way.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Back, and you were thinking Amani Tumor, Amani Tumor.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
I'm already Cooper. Yeah, it's like, yeah, no, nobody's arguing
that he wasn't. There were just no quarterbacks to get
him the ball. So yeah, that books, training can't come,
can't come fast.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
So I got Lebron James in.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
They got Lebron, and they got Golden State Warriors and
they got they got a few. But it's like okay
for every one or couple of things, it was cool.
It's like okay, and oh.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Yeah that that I mean it really you listen to
oh yeah, it's kind of sad to listen to.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
It's kind of want to be happy a.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Lot about stuff happening since eighty nine.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Man, I want to be happy. It's like listen to
Tears for Fears.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Oh, it's gonna make me sad and just maybe saying
yes and be pensive and think.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
About the world, and that's what I want.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
I want to I want a headphones iPod I would
have listened to so I can just listen to songs
maybe think about the world.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Like thoughts every now and again. But you know you
mentioned Lebron James. They have that great story about Atlanta
at number seventeen and some mock draft taking him and
he got all fired up taking his son. He's like, yeah,
James Gang come into Atlanta and I immediately started thinking
about taking my time Joe, the James Gang.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
That's what that's When Lebron calls up, rob Playing goes,
so you're taking Bronni right, You're making a trade up
to get Bronny now because you know that was the
deal we had. Uh no, you're getting Bronny now, right,
that was the deal. That was the deal you got.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Buffeda says, beat it. He goes, seems to me.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
All right, So as we get ready for the NFL,
we're hitting you now with some few NFL off season
hot takes. We're ready to get into the end of
mini camps as teams get set to say goodbye for
the next month until they come back to camp or
he gets their last little bit of vacation. We gave
you a hot take last hour. I told the Chicago
Bear is gonna win the NFC North.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Yeah, they had the best quarterback. I don't think that's true.
Is possible down the line?
Speaker 1 (21:58):
I would die can Kirk. I would take him over anybody.
I really would he Well, were.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
We talking for this year or for the future forever?
Let's go for this year. For this year, I'll take
him one hundred percent. I'll take because they went out
and they got him. They got him the number one
wide receiver that he needed to get. They have, they
are deep at running back. He is, he has everything
he needs to succeed, and he showed that he's really good.
Where Cousins you kind of know what he's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
And now he's lost his biggest weapon at running back
because it just decided to not replace Dalvin Cook. All right,
went out and got Jordan Addison. All Right, that's fine, but.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
He's replacing Adam Thielen and they've always thrown the ball.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Okay, now give me the ceiling for Justin Fields and
what he can do this year over Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
I will take him. Best quarterback in the division.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
Yeah, we're talking back into your fantasy dreams? Are we
talking on?
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Oh, fantasy d could be the number one quarterback in
all of fantasy.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
The potential is there the battle, I mean, unless Lamar
Jackson really can get a lot of stats from that
eighteen man receiving room.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Fields is somebody who every week probably starts out at
ten Fantasy points before he even throws a pass.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
How about that? Because you're playing a team defense.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
I mean, he starts out with ten points because he's.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Your defense. Gave up points.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
It's either one hundred yards rushing or seventy yards in
a touchdown you're getting. He starts out with ten Fantasy
points before he even throws a pass. That's how big
he is. But that was a big team Bowl prediction.
I'll give you an individual bull prediction right now. You're
ready for this.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Go here we go.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Individual bull prediction. Leading the NFL this year in receptions
and yards.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Receptions and in receptions and yard. You say, Garrett Wilson,
I'm walking off this show.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
All right, Let's go to the next one.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Then, okay, next, But no, no, no, it's.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Not Garrett Wilson leading the NFL and receptions in yards
this year Garrett with him leading the NFL and reception
in yards this.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Year, ceed Lamb, he was about to get paid.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Get ready.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
He wants to get paid. He's right there on the cusp.
He's the number one guy.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
You know.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
They're gonna throw the football way more now. They got
rid of you know, they let Ezekiel Elliott go. Tony
Pollard's coming back, but how much can you really give
him the football coming off of injury. This is Ceedee
Lamb's time to jump up from Hey, I'm anywhere from
fifth to seventh and catches. I'm gonna catch them all now,
justin Jefferson. You think, well, Jefferson, Yeah, but you know
Addison's gonna catch a few passes here. He's really talented.
(24:36):
He might jump in there a little bit. Ceedee Lamb
wants to get paid. He's got that big contract coming up,
and there's no better way to do it. You know,
the Cowboys are gonna throw the football. The guys as
talented as any receiver in the game. Right any kind
of path, he's almost like a little bit better Kishawn,
a little bit faster Kishawan. Where anything the guy can do,
(24:57):
you can throw it deep to him, you can throw
it over the middle to him, you can throw it
short to him, and with his size, he can make
any kind of play ceed. Lamb will lead the NFL
in receptions and yards this season.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Look at you.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
I dig that he's gonna get paid before the season,
so he'll be operating with a sizeable deal before this happens.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Maybe he will. Maybe maybe.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
All right, I'm going, according to sources and in Dallas,
that this is gonna happen, kind of like Jerry Jones
was gonna make a decision. I'm putting Jimmy Johnson into
that ring of hotor let's go Jerry Jones. You guys
ain't got all day. Patch this up now with the
receiving I like, I like the cut of your jib.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
I do.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
That's also saying you trust dak dak, dak, dak dak.
I don't man. Big year for Lamb tied for fifth,
tied tied for fifth last year one hundred and seven reception.
Kellen Moore is now a charger, which means the offensive
philosophy changes. I wouldn't be surprised to see them run
(26:06):
the ball more. Not that that's going to take a
lot from from Lamb In terms of his overall targets,
he was at one hundred and fifty six, near the
leaders in the NFL. The opportunities are going to be there,
but I think the quality, the chaos, yardage, and opportunities
are gonna be there because they're gonna have no choice
and it's going to be terrible football, but it's gonna
(26:30):
be Devonte Adams in Las Vegas, no matter who's throwing
them the ball. When it's Aid and O'Connell, guess what,
I want to be your best friend. That's thirty seven targets.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
When Josh Jacobs is holding out and suddenly there's eleven
defensive guys all around him, somebody else is gonna catch it.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
You force him the ball. What they'll do is they'll
let him catch it for three yards and then they'll
gang tackle.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Why is the social media guy covering him?
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Look, yeah, Adams is always going to catch passes and
he proved a lot less year. Hey, I don't need
Aaron Rodgers to catch passes. But boy, this this Raiders team.
I mean, they're gonna be changing quarterbacks. You know, Garoppolo's
not gonna be healthy. I'd love to see it because
they looked like as good as the guy is. But
it's hard, man. I mean, I know Prescott's gonna throw
them the ball. I don't think they're gonna run the
(27:16):
football more because they're going they've officially gone to more
of a pass offense now because not bringing Ezekiel Elliott
back and who knows, maybe he's someone who sits out
there for a long time. No, he could come back,
but you're not not gonna use him because if they're
not paying them, they're not gonna get him the football.
And that's the whole thing. They're not gonna pay him
and not they're they're not gonna not pay him and
(27:37):
make sure he gets football. The guys they want, the
guys Jerry Jones wants, are the guys that are getting paid.
Those are the guys that he's got in his cross hair.
So when Ezekiel Elly got paid, that's why he got
the football the entire time. Dak Prescott got paid. That's
why he's thrown the football the whole time. Ceedee Lamb,
whether he gets paid or not, is gonna get the
football the whole time. So that's why I like Ceedee
Lamb for this year. I mean he's that good.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
It's right here. It's his time to do it.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
And if I thought the Cowboys would run the football
a little bit more, I would say yeah. But they
kind of let Elliott go and they're okay with Tony
Pollard coming back from injury, and they haven't really addressed
the running back room at all.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
So are they really gonna run the football?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (28:14):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
Yeah, the leader in receptions is either Jefferson or Christian McCaffrey. Well,
you're banking on McCaffrey being healthy for a whole season. Again,
you had one season of that and you got lucky.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Don't forget Quentin Johnston.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Guys, Oh sure, Well that's after he takes over for
Keenan Allen when he gets hurt.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
I will pop your tires.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
I didn't know if you were gonna go Keenan Allen
or Mike Williams.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
There o.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Man, you guy's got jokes.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
I like Quenton Johnston.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
I like him a lot, and he'll by the middle
of the season, he'll be their number one receiver. By
the middle of there's your there's your additional hot take.
By the middle of the season, Quentin Johnson will be
the cut Charger's number one receiver because of injury and
ineffectiveness by both Williams and.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Activeness in there.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
You want to you want to drop injury, but because
guys are gonna get heparriage Keenan Allen stats for days.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Not five years. As it's not hockey.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
Steve de Sager is not in that booth next to
Frostburg right now. Otherwise he would pull out his files
and they are extensive.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
There's a reason why they drafted the guy. So they
didn't draft me the number three receiver.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Okay, they they draft me.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Who's gonna be our guy that Justin Herbert is gonna
grow with for the next ten years. That's the reason
why they got him. Hey, the long road begins with
the first step.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
I mean, you don't force that right away.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
What are you doing here?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
It's gonna, it's gonna.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
This is supposed to be off.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
You're like Duke and Rocky for this is supposed to
be an exhibition, an exhibit.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
When again to my team, what are you doing here?
It's supposed to keep it up with your bad hot take.
Don't go trying to envelop my team in this.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Well.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
That was very frank The tank like absolute can't you're
saying this, No, we'll get back to City Lamina second.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
But seriously, they didn't draft to be that guy.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
It's gonna take him about six weeks to jump in
because guys are gonna get hurt, they're not going to
catch the ball, and Herbert's looking for him. Johnson will
be the number oneers. I shouldn't say this because I
want to get him in our Dynasty League early. We
have a couple of picks early in the first round.
But he's the guy.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Man.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I know that people like Addison and he's gonna catch
passes as well, but he's never going to be the
number one in Minnesota. And you know Zay Flowers is nice,
but a very crowded wide receiver room there already Smith
and Jigma has injury issues, and you wonder where he's
going to be in there because you have a couple
of good receivers already, including.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
DK Metcalf who's twenty five.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
No, this is all set for Quentin Johnson to be
the number one receiver in Los Angeles and it will
happen by week six.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
I love the cut of your jib. We co manage
two teams last season one won a title, the other one.
We're picking first.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
That's what we We're a bad team and I tanked
because look we did.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
Now we have a lot of we just have to
lean into it, yep. And we're making things better as
we always yell, lean in to the suck.
Speaker 2 (31:01):

All right, talk about some must here audio from tonight
(31:30):
in sports shotting.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
That's loss.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Well, that's not must here. That happens all the time.
People are used to that. Tonight is the NHL Draft, Right,
NHL Draft going on and a lot of you know,
if you're a hockey fan, you're seeing some trades and
things happen already.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Carmen's happy.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Oh yeah, yes, you're happy.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Hey, Well, when you stay you can get the number
one overall pick. Yeah, it sounds pretty good.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
You got to know that's the way you know, you're
building up your farm system over the Engratulations. But yeah,
what was great is Bidard gets selected it and there's
a line around the block to get to the franchise
like mainstay sports sporting goods store to go get sweaters
made immediately.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Wow, Wow, well it is it is Chicago.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
Well, but they're also saying two point five million dollars
in ticket sales already in terms of season tickets. Doesn't
seem like a lot. But we talk about hockey. It's
a different scale, and and and getting folks to part
with their money for things right now sometimes a little harder,
right given the current economic climate. So people are excited
hoping maybe maybe you can catch a little lightning in
(32:36):
the bottle.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Was it buy one, get it taves Jersey free.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Hey, you know what, buy one and get a get
a leader of Scotty Pippins bourbon for free.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
That was a trip. But listen, not everybody, the guys are.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
Horrible human beings. A little bit of positivity for one.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
I just did positive, I just got I just gave
everybody Scottie Pippins bourbon for free.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
That is true, with a picture of his weird broken hand.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
But listen, not everybody is happy, all right, Not everybody
is happy. If you thought that Roger Goodell got booed
as NFL commissioner when they announced him when he came
out to take the stage for the draft, yeah he's
got nothing on Gary Bettman, who continued a very long
standing tradition earlier tonight. Welcome to all the prospects, family
(33:31):
members and friends, and especially the hockey fans here with us.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
I love how he tried to be serious out of it.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeah, stick with it at least Cadell once goes okay,
come on enough enough, like he's the dad. Hey, come
on enough, enough enough, and everybody's quiets out. He gets
ready for the draft. But just him walking up, you
could all the booing of Gary Betten.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
That that's good, good, that the hate is being let
out there. Maybe they go home and they're a little
kinder to each other.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Yes, thank you, Yes, thank you. I realize I've taken
a sport that was once one of the Big four
and turn it into a big afterthought in the United States.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Yeah, thank you very much. I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
The best part is you can see it really bothers him.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Yeah, oh yeah, that's what makes it great.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Godel could care less.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Yea, yeah, no yeah, Good's like listen, listen, I'm making
I get forty million dollars a year as a bonus.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
Okay, my sport is fine. You could boom me. I
don't give a great I really don't care. They just
can't stand awesome.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Look. Sometimes you know they say time heals all wounds,
but that means something ended and something went away. He's
still there.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
They just.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I mean, look, it sounds like city Field after a
Mets game, but that was actually Gary Bettman getting boot.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
No there, we're way too many people want the draft
to be cityfield.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Oh no, come on man. People buy tickets, go to
Cityfield and boom a city field. They want to get
their money's worth. I'm going to city Field. Why the
Mets stink? No, I'm gonna I'm gonna let them know
how much they've disappointed me over the course of.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
The given boxes away.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Don't you worry.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Here's the Lexus Club for free.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I am getting my money's worth about this. I'm gonna
go up in yellow. Keith and Nandez in the broadcast booth.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
I don't do that.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
I actually read a column today.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
It was despite the Mets difficulties, broadcast booth continues to
shine like they At least the Mets have Keith and
dand Mez Audio and a big story out of the
NFL Fox
