the way tire buying should be now. The Dodgers blew
it in the ninth. The Angels, as you just heard,

(00:50):
have the injuries to Otani and Mike Trout. Yes, we've
been debating a lot tonight as it pertains to the
future of show. Hey Otani, I don't know if we
came to a consensus across the board, But Arnie, if
you're in charge of the Angels right now, you're saying,
I ain't risking anything. August first deadline is looming. I
gotta be looking to see what's out there for him.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Right absolutely, you're in third place anyway, Trout's going to
be out for two months.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
It's not going to be your year. You cannot let.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Him walk away and get absolutely nothing. You're talking about
a once in a lifetime player. Teams will still give
up some decent prospects just to rent them for the
two and a half months. If I Motani, it gives
me a taste of life outside the Angels, gives me
a taste of life, and it may be a different
city or a different team. And if you don't why,

(01:41):
you could always go somewhere else when the year ends.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Angels.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
It's a win win situation because I don't think he
wants to be there. I don't know that for a fact.
I would just think that if you wanted to be there,
something would have gotten done and they would have gotten
the contract together if the Angels would have offered.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
Him the right amount of money.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
But the Angels would have had to make him an offer,
would have known one way or the other. They have
to sit down and say are you gonna stay or
should we trade you? So I think they probably know
the answer to that already.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Well, and you keep forgetting about the wild card. I
know you're I know you yearn for the days of
the mid eighties in Major League Baseball. But they're only
four back of the wild card right now, right the
Blue Jays, Yankees, Astros and the freaking.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
But all their injuries, are you even you know, are
they in the same par as all those other teams.
I just don't think it's going to be their year.
You might as well get a boatload of prospects and
you know, see what you could turn that into, because
it's just not working out.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Well, I think it's working out. I think o'dani's a
freaking rock star. No, I meant just that y're in
third place.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
Again.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You keep saying they're in third place, but they are
only there are much fewer games out of the wild card.
Why do you ignore the wild card in this conversation?
Do you think because you're in the wild card chase,
you're out and you don't deserve a spot in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
No, but I expected, you know, more of the Angels.
We keep thinking that this is going to be their
year to do something. They're gonna, you know, get on
top of it, and you know all that, But it
just hasn't happened.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I feel like they weren't picked to do a damn
thing this year. Really, I mean, were you talking about
him in the.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Prem anytime you have O, Toadi and Trout, I have
to think they're gonna be, you know, right up there.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Every year on that division, I.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Would say that more people would have assumed the Astros
would be back than people thought the Angels would do
anything in that division. But they should be. They should
be better than they are. And we'll see exactly what
happens over the next few weeks, because again it's only
the fourth of July now, the fifth on the East
coast in central time zone. Hope everyone had a great
fourth welcome back to work. But I'm a I'm intrigued

(03:43):
to see. Is this This clock will move quick right
Whenever you're thinking about what you're gonna do with the player,
it's gonna cook Arnie. And I can't wait to see
if we start seeing rumors or if we don't, because
if we do, I think there'd be a lot of
teams out there willing to move in an earth to
try to get him, even if it is in a
rental situation.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
Why wouldn't your boys in New York try to.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I mean, with as bad as things have been, what
could go wrong? You're trying to bring in a guy
that will immediately be a rock star in the Big Apple,
and I mean, who knows, maybe help turn things.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
Around, and they would take a lot.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
But I just I think that it would be fascinating
to see what that market, how it would materialize if
indeed he became available.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Only if the Mets would only make a trade like that,
as if they knew that o'toni was immediately going to
sign an extension and they were gonna go ahead and
keep him miningha.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa? What happened all this?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Any team would take the opportunity to have him for
any amount of time, not.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
If you're the Mets.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
The Mets aren't coming anywhere this year, So why go
ahead and do something like that? Why are you gonna
go ahead and go for a guy for two and
a half months when you're not gonna do squat anyway.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
You just told me, who knows, in two and a
half months you could change his mind, And now suddenly
Otani's a guy that's not gonna do squad for you.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
No, no, Well, he's not going to help this year.
Years what I meant, the Mets aren't going going anywhere
this year. They're so far back. What are they like
eighteen and a half back of Atlanta? And I know
that's not the wild card, but this year is shot with.
If you think you have a chance to sign him,
you know what talks and what walks off from.

Speaker 6 (05:15):
A bowload of money. He'll come to the Mets.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
You know they've got the owner Ford, So just off
fer millions more than the other team and believe me,
he'll sign.

Speaker 3 (05:25):

(05:46):
turn the calendar, yeah to July fifth, do you have
a favorite Fourth of July sports moment? Like, is there
a moment on this day that stands out to you?
Dave Righetti threw a no hitter on this day. I
think with Jimmy mckin and Jimmy Conners. Had a memorable
match at Wimbledon on this day.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Wasn't there like a Mets Astros game that was like
eighteen innings or something like that.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
There was a Braves game Brave that was it. Yeah,
saw the highlights all day long. But does anything jump
out to you because I've got one for me.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
I mean other than that, No, nothing jumps out.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Twenty sixteen. You know what happened on the fourth of
July twenty sixteen.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
No, that's not that long ago either.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Kevin Durant announced that he was starting his next chapter
and he left for my Miami. Listened to me, is
not Lebron? He left for Golden State? And what's funny
to mean? Arnie Draymond Green said something on the Paul
George podcast that made me truly realize what a signature

(06:50):
moment that what a fork in the road the Cleveland
Cavaliers come back from down three to one was in
twenty sixteen?

Speaker 6 (06:59):
How much every now again?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Remember Lebron worked in Cleveland for the next two years,
but he.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
Brought a title, so mission accomplished. Right.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
The Warriors felt like they couldn't beat Lebron and Kyrie
without getting help. Draymond's on the phone talking Kevin Durant
into coming to Golden State, change the fortunes of Okay.
See obviously for Golden State, changed how we feel about
Kevin Durant. But did it did it actually be an
even bigger moment? Could it have actually been an even

(07:32):
bigger moment for Draymond Green? I want you to listen
to this, Arnie. It's a little longer. I know you
don't hate. I know you hate longer. Sound by it right, yes,
But I want you to hear Draymond Green in talking
about one of his greatest what ifs. In other words,
he has it just like we do, a moment that
he looks back on and thinks, what if this would

(07:52):
have happened? And he's taking you back to the twenty
sixteen NBA Finals.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
I think that one, that one bothers me a lot
with for different reasons. One, it bothers me because we
never should have been in that game. And again, like
I said, I'm a firm believer and you get what
you're deserving. And so when I look at that, it's
like the greatest teaser of my life. I had thirty two,

(08:18):
fifteen boards and nine assists. And if we win that game,
I'm the Finals MVP. But that I really deserve it
because we never should have been in game seven. And
if we never get that far due I didn't win
the Finals MVP, if we finish it in.

Speaker 6 (08:33):
Five, right, right, you gotta think about all of it.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
Maybe maybe, maybe not possibly, but it definitely wasn't a guarantee.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
And if we win game seven, guarantee, you book it.
I'm Finals MVP. And so I look.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
Back on that and I'm like, Okay, what changes if
that does happen? Does my mindset change? Like now that
I'm a items MVP, doesn't not allow me to be
what I've been to this team? Does it not allow
me to be as humble as I've been in my situation?
Because me being as humble as I've been in my
situation and what I've been to this team is the

(09:13):
reason I'll make all of fame. So a.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
Lot to unpack there, aren't he?

Speaker 5 (09:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yeah, First, I don't necessarily know if he was going
to be the slam Dunk MVP if they won in sixteen.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
I think Steph Curry still might have been.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I don't know if Steph stats off the back, but
that's not the first thing that comes to my mind. Chris,
go ahead, and I know you want to talk and
we'll get to that part also.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
But it makes me wonder. Here's a guy.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Boy, he certainly knew his stats right off the top
of his head, didn't he. Yeah, for a guy, that's like,
you know, I don't care about individuals stats. It's all
about winn you goet championship, which is what all the
athletes say. That's a bunch of garbage, is it? Now
when you're thinking about how I'd be different if I
won the finals, MVP and I would have won this
and here are my stats from seven years a go.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
Yeah, they're all full.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Of blowdi when they say it's all about winning and
not about the stats out there, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
But did they help in battling off the bench like
you did for your what four points this week?

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Directly game?

Speaker 5 (10:15):
I mean three?

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Three?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, yeah, but okay, So that's your
takeaway from that is funny team seems to know all
of his stats, but at the core of it, Yeah,
I mean, do you realize how many different like plights
changed in the NBA based on that finals.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Suddenly ok K doesn't go to that team if they
if they win it, right, So if they win it,
he doesn't end up going there, and then I don't
know how the dominoes fall after that.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
So yeah, I mean, just think about a lot of things.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
If if Cleveland loses in that final, y is Lebron
out even sooner? Is Kyrie shipped out even sooner?

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Right?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
And then who know, maybe it never ends up in
Boston in that disaster. So that's very much a minor plot.
But if Golden State wins that, I mean we might
be having Steph Curry goat conversations. They never go get
Kevin Durant, right because they feel like they don't need him.
Maybe Durant ends up staying in Oka. See who knows
what they're There were rumors in OKAC was about to

(11:18):
get Al Horford if they would have stayed with Durant
in Westbrook.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
So it's it's wild to me. I never thought about.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Draymond Green winning the MVP, and his what if from
that is pretty cool because he said, you know what
if I won the MVP, And suddenly I was like,
I'm a scorer.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
I need to get the ball more. I need to
be a guy that's.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
More involved, kind of like you are when you have
three points and give the give me the ball, feed
the machine. I like from that perspective, but from like
how I looked at it, it just blew my mind
everything in that finals that led to Kevin Durant's decision
on that fourth of July. And how here's Draymond Green
that's looking back at it and saying, it's one of

(11:57):
my greatest what ifs. Because if we win the MVP,
if we that finals and maybe we get it done
in five and he doesn't get suspended. I mean, how
different is not only the Warriors era Arnie, but how
different does.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
The league look right now? It'd be crazy.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
You know, it's funny you said that.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I thought you were gonna say how different does Kevin
Durant's career look like? Wouldn't we be calling him like
one of the I'm not saying busts, but one of
the guys that has not reached potential.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
How many championships? He'd have zero championships?

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Right? So I disagree.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
I think the Thunder could have made it to a
final with Durant and Westbrook and if they.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
But well, let's say he didn't have a championship. What
would we be saying about Kevin Durant right now? Oh
my goodness, you know?

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Oh yeah, I mean, but would you rather see him
continue to fight an OKC or go to Golden State
where everyone thinks he just teamed up with a bunch
of superstars. I mean, could it possibly be even worse
than how you view Kevin Durant today and what people
say about him.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Well, yeah, I think it would have been worse if
you would stop it, if you never would have won it.
Do you think he would have stayed at OKAC had
he not gone the Golden State?

Speaker 6 (13:04):
I think he would have.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I think it was between Golden State and OKC, and
I think that he would have stayed in ok See.
I think if Kevin Durant would have been open that
he didn't want to play with Russell Westbrook. I mean,
at that time, I honestly think okay C would have
said all right, great and moved on from Westbrook. I
just don't think he let anyone know.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Well, not if you keep ripping him in the paper,
that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Did one headliner I mean, come on, but it's funny
to me. And again, Oka see was in a tailspin
for a while. Sure they got Paul George and they
got the Russell Westbrook MVP season, but in the playoffs
they were never what they were with Kevin Durant and
they haven't been since. Right, Actually, I mean, I don't

(13:48):
suddenly think back to Draymond on this, Arny. I don't
think we're suddenly going to change our perspective and we're
like Draymond Green scoring machine. And maybe, you know, maybe
he does. Maybe he ends up signing somewhere like Utah
or Atlanta or somewhere where he can feel like he
can be more of a score. I thought that was
interesting to see him say, hey, you're right, Arnie, I
might be a little.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Bit infatuated with stats.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
If that moment would have come to fruition, how do
we won the finals and I was the MVP or
in a game where I had thirty five points?

Speaker 6 (14:18):
All right?

Speaker 4 (14:19):
He was thinking how much more money he would have
gotten instead of the four year, one hundred million dollar
contract that he'shi with Golden State. He's bobably thinking how
much more he would have demanded if he was a
finals MVP, and I'm not sure anybody has the answer.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, I wonder if he's going to be able to
scrape by with that new deal. I I oh, Draymond's
able to make it. But it's wild. You know, everyone
has different favored Fourth of July sports moments. For me,
it was the reaction in the fallout to Kevin Durant
whenever he signed with Golden State. Part of that is
because I'm in Oklahoma. But what was even more kind
of another arm and fascinating out of that was hearing

(14:52):
Draymond Green talk about it as one of his great
what ifs.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Right, I'm sorry, but the back that I don't remember
was there, did we say Golden State was like the
front runner?

Speaker 6 (15:04):
What exactly? You know?

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Olden State wasn't even really talked about too much. But
then after they got beat after they got knocked out
of the finals, it was ooh, there is this one
time exemption right where the salary cap would make it
where you could have a fourth player on a big contract.
Because remember they already had Steph Clay and Draymond making money.

(15:25):
But and I think had to get rid of Harrison Barnes.
But yeah, I mean it started to build, but nobody
thought he would do that.

Speaker 6 (15:32):
Is that the other like flew out to the Hamptons
or something like that.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Okay, and the Draymond was on the phone as soon
as they lost, calling him from the parking lot.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
Saying we need you here. So it's wild.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
He probably never would have made that call, right, probably
never would have called him.

Speaker 6 (15:49):
But I think I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I just don't know if I could ever see Draymond
Green number one option for any team.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
No, he's never going to be a number one option.
He's not a a big offensive threat like that.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Well, I know he's never going to be, but he
would if they would have won that finals and he
won the MVP. That was his point. Who knows how
I would have been. I mean, I just at all.
Obviously not now, but even going back seven years ago,
I don't know if anyone's breaking the bank to say
gotta go get Draymond around our offense around.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Oh, it seems like people wanted to miss time around,
But I guess not that much money you want to
stay there at Golden State anyway.

Speaker 3 (16:24):

Speaker 3 (18:19):
We do and a few more that have popped in

stinking Genius one at Plank Show BC Rights.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
Huh what are you talking about? Arnie? What is Trout
done in ten years? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:32):
What are you talking about? John's been pretty damn good
in ten years.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
I must have missed all the World Series and playoff
appearances by him, right, can we look that up there?

Speaker 6 (18:42):
I guess I must have missed all that.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
So that's what that's all you judge him by. So
Robert Ory's the greatest NBA player ever, I mean, you're
talking about it. I'm All Star at three time in.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
I'm not saying he's not greater I think, but he
has not been able to lift the Angels. And now
that the he's hurt for two months, Like I said,
it was all about why would you keep Otani? That
was my whole point about that. But you said he
missed that.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
No, no, no, because you said, I mean, what has
Trout even done in ten years?

Speaker 6 (19:08):
That's why.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
What he's done for the Angels in ten years? I guess.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
So all of those stats and he's accumulated aren't for
the Angels.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
How far has he taken them?

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Chris?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Can one guy take a baseball team.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
I think they could have done better in the ten
to eleven years than they've done so far.

Speaker 6 (19:28):
So you're putting the Angels misgivings on Mike Trout.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Well, who am I gonna give it?

Speaker 6 (19:32):
Who am I gonna put the misgivings on?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah, Mike Trout, He's terrible. I'm with you, not a
good baseball player at all. I don't know why they
even give him a chance to go play. Come on, man,
it's not his fault. The Angels stink. We overanalyze Mike
Trout to the point that if I was him, I'd
just be like A right, I'm done.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
Isn't it funny though?

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (19:51):
So, but when Lebron's bad or what it should be,
when Lebron's team doesn't do well, we criticize Lebron because
he's the leader of the team.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
Well, I guess we don't do that in base.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
A ty shirt, break out the dry race board real quick,
All right.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
On one side, I've got the NBA, Arnie, where there's
five players on the court. Over here, i've got Major
League baseball, where you have an entire team first base,
second base, thurn, short catcher, right center, left, and a
DH plus a pitching staff and a bullpit. You're telling
me you're having a hard time figuring out the difference.

(20:29):
Why we'd get on a basketball more than a baseball.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
No, but it's pretty But just said to me, well,
what's he supposed to do? Have you ever heard Trout
getting upset? Maybe going to the oder and said, hey,
you're going to get a team around me.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Or you're not going to be able to keep me,
and I'm going to demand a trade.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
So what's it going to be? My friend? Does he
ever get mad? Does he ever do anything like that?
Have you ever heard him getting upset? Like I said,
if you walk down the street, nobody would blink because
they don't.

Speaker 6 (20:56):
Know who the hell he is. So what, he can
still play, He can still ball.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
And when you minimize a guy that's a three time
MVP and you're like, what has he done?

Speaker 6 (21:08):
I mean, I just think he got to take your fee.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
If he retired today, he's going to look back at
one of the most disappointing careers because he's never done
squat in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
That's what he's going to think.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
So you're saying, if Mike Trot were to quit today
because he hasn't done quote unquote squat in the playoffs,
he's a failure in your book.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
I think he looked at himself and said, I didn't
didn't reach close to what I sit out for when
I joined got the Major League baseball.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
Okay, Billy Ryan about what's wrong on that?

Speaker 5 (21:44):
Okay? I guess.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
I guess playing eleven years and not doing squat in
the playoffs is good to you.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
That's all you keep saying that he hasn't done squat,
I mean.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
In the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
In the playoffs, so.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Does Charles Barkley sucky he doesn't get a knock for
never what he the championship? Dan Marino, Gee, we've never
heard about how he's never won a super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
I'm not saying you're not gonna give him a knock,
but to act like he's nothing and you should just
leave the team because Trout's there or he's not an
I mean, come on, Arnie, that's just ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
No, but that was my whole point, that Trout's hurt
for two months. That's why Toddy needs He's been a lot.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
That's been one of the problems. He hasn't been able
to stay healthy. Now, if you want to say he
hasn't been able to stay healthy, I'll jump there on
and be right behind you. But if you're like, oh, yeah,
he hasn't done anything.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
And by the way, he hasn't been able to stay
healthy too.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Thank you there, Billy Wrights, No Mike McCarthy on your list,
gotta be top ten, super Bowl champion, top ten, thirty
four years coaching since Pittsburgh eighty ninety ninety two. He
goes to the whole list, always left off lists. Arnie
give Mike McCarthy credit. Well, all to fit Arnie by

(22:51):
saying it wasn't Arnie's list.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Yeah, that wasn't my list, but that's all.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
And we don't a cbssports dot com. I don't even
know the dude that made the list, Cody Benjamin, never
heard of him. I don't usually trust experts that have
fewer Twitter followers than me. That's a big red flag.
And I've always thought that Mike McCarthy is incredibly undervalued. Hell,
they cowboy fans want them gone. They're mad that he

(23:18):
moved on from Kellen Moore to call plays himself. But
I did dig and I found it interesting. Yeah, Mike
McCarthy nineteenth best coach in the NFL, Mike McDaniel eighteen,
Kevin O'Connell seventeen, Frank Reich sixteen, and Brian Dable fifteen.
So they've got a lot of guys ahead of Mike

(23:40):
McCarthy who haven't even sniffed a Super Bowl or even
let's see in this mix day Ball ran a playoff
win as a head coach. But yes, no, no, no,
let's put Mike McDaniel ahead of Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
That's amazing, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
That's crazy the lack of respect that he's getting there,
you know.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
I mean this dude, This dude has Shane Steichen, who
hasn't coached a game yet, ahead of Robert Salah, and
I just I don't get it. And also you have
Josh McDaniel's thirtieth when he should be thirty two. Let's
get this right, get this thing fixed.

Speaker 6 (24:16):
But yeah, Mike McCarthy never gets the credit he deserves.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Jason writes to have a three team parley ruined by
an umpire ruin just stupid of me to count on
the worst bullpen in Major League Baseball for anything.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
At least I have my sports therapy session tonight.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Yeah, what do you do when you lose the third
leg of a three team parlay and some dude who
wears number fifty nine is in the pitch for the
Dodgers or number seventy one? You know, all the laundry
list of great pitchers in baseball that wore seventy one
to come out and blow it for you.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
That's a bad beat too, when it's a three teamer
and you're pretty much you're like, okay, I got this, man,
we got this.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
It's done.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Finch it off and you lose it like that. That's
just horrible.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
All Right.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
More tweets to come, maybe a little bit more perspective
here on the Angels injuries, but for one final time
tonight from the tyraq dot com studios, Kevin Wired is
in with a look at everything that's trending.

Speaker 6 (25:13):
What's going on?

Speaker 8 (25:13):
Yeah, my all, La Parlay got busted. Chotani on the mound,
the Dodgers against the Pirates, Dusty there. Yeah, not a
good day for Los Angeles. Yeah, that's the big been
the news today in Major League Baseball. It started out
bad for Los Angeles, at least for the Angels, and
it got even worse. Mike Trout placed on the injured list.

(25:35):
He was diagnosed with a broken bone in his left hand.
He suffered it while swinging at a pitch last night
against the Padres, and now he's gonna be out. They
say at least a month, but very well likely could
be much longer than that. And to make matters where
Shoeyo Tani started the game on the mound. He pitched
through the fifth inning, but then had to leave the game.
He had an injury on his finger and it was

(25:56):
speculated that it was a broken fingernail, that's what he
had been dealing with. However, it's now reportedly a blister
and Shootani said that it wouldn't be unlikely that he
would pitch in the All Star Game. And that isn't
all for the Angels. Anthony Rendon a guy they signed
to a big contract. Hope they can get a lot
of production from him at the plate. He's been injured

(26:17):
a lot though since he joined the organization. And on Wednesday,
we're on Tuesday, should say foul the pitch off his
shin and now he has dated day. X rays were negative,
but he has a bone bruise on his shin. As
for the other team in Los Angeles, the Dodgers, Dustin
may as you heard them of lud To not going

(26:39):
to pitch the rest of the season for the Dodgers.
He was someone counted on to be a big part
of the rotation, but the Dodgers announcing today that he
will have season ending surgery to repair his right flexor
tend in. Not only will he miss this year, but
he's expected to be out at least part way through
next season as well. And for tonight, the Dodgers they
let at one point but blew it late, Pirates come

(27:01):
back to beat him nine to seven. As for the
other action today, Allie de la Cruz going four for
four as his sensational rookie season continues. The Reds win
at Washington eight to four. Jonathan India also with a
big game back to back home runs. He hit home
runs it back to bat at bats, I should say.
Philly's beat the Rays three to one. Aaron Nola with

(27:22):
a strong game four Philadelphia. He allowed just one run
in seven to third innings, but also struck out twelve
Tampa Bay batters. Red's all over the Red Sox six
to two. Mitch Garver leading the way for Texas two
for two, a home run, a double, and four runs
batted in. Marlins trounced the Cardinals fifteen to two. Luis
Arayes hitting three eighty seven on the season that includes

(27:44):
him going one for three on Tuesday, Twins beat the
Royals nine three. Yankees outslugged the Orioles eight four, and
of course it's the fourth of July, right. The biggest
sporting end of the day was not even in Major
League Baseball. Was that Coney Island gluttony, Baby, give me
all of it? As Joey Chess is that a true
American hero again winning the hot dog eating contest on

(28:04):
Cony Island, eating sixty two of them. Believe it or not,
The over under was seventy two and a half, so
he didn't quite hit that number, but it was enough
for him to win his eighth straight title in his
sixteenth overall. And on the lady side, it's Mickey Pudo
with thirty nine and a half as she wins her
ninth straight title. And in Wimbledon, Carlos Alcarez the top seed,

(28:24):
cruising through in trade sets Any Murray on his home court,
also winning in three sets to advance to the second round.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Back to you guys, Thanks, Kevin, have a great week, buddy.
It's Arnie and Plank here on Fox Sports Radio. Big
Ben Mallard coming up next from the tire rack dot

Speaker 6 (28:54):
Slash Match.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
You know, I just out of the boo here because
an hour number one we were obviously talking about the
Nathan hot Dog contest. We had Mickey Pseudo and Nick Wherry.
Mickey of course won the women's division. Today Nick finished fourth.
They're married couple out there, don't you feel like they're
missing the boat? They should be like a reality couple.
I would watch them. I'd love to see them go

(29:17):
to a buffet and, you know, as a prank, just
like finish off a buffet or something like.

Speaker 6 (29:22):
That, you know what I mean what she said though
she said they're healthy eaters.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
I know that, but you know, just for like you know,
for obviously clicks and stuff like that, and you know
you're getting paid. That's a whole different story. But that'd
be awesome. They just walk into some buffet chat you know,
maybe they don't know who they are and they're just
like they just start digging in. Man, they just start

(29:45):
just just finishing everything out there, and there's nothing left
for the for the Patriots.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
I love that well.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
I mean, they could probably do it if they wanted to.
I did have to laugh though. There was a sign
speaking of that that made the rounds for it. Chinese buffet.
It's like buffet doesn't mean you sit here for four hours. Aha,
you get in, you you get out, you know.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
I picture them they like they were at that party
at the Hampton's and they're just eating up all the
ore dervs in front of everybody.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
You mean, just give us the whole thing.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
Can just chow it on down or something?

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Speaking of that crazy tanker hit us up on Twitter
and he writes, Arnie, I heard Steve Kerr had a
party on the Hamptons. What you didn't get the invite?
Would you not get invited up to Steve Kerr's party?

Speaker 5 (30:29):
He did have a party on the Hamptons. I would
have been invited.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
I'm only a couple of hours away by driving, so
I don't know how I would not be invited. There's
no way he had a party at the Hamptons.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
I still am I'm marvel. This is the great mystery
to me.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Yeah, Arnie has the phone number of Mickey Pseudo and
literally right away. He's all over Ethan and I gonna
get Mickey Pseudo on tonight. Husband Nick Werry's gonna come
on to Great.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
That's awesome.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Yeah, yeah, you've.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Been bugging for a decade, if not more. Now about
getting Steve Kurr to call in? Yes, why don't you
just send his number to Ethan and have him call
him or text him and say get on the show.
I mean, you pulled it off with a professional eater.
If you're such great friends, why is this not happening?

Speaker 5 (31:16):
It's a matter of.

Speaker 6 (31:17):
Here about it for a decade.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
It's a matter of principal, Chris. I can't just now
call him up. He's he's got to call me up
and want to be on the show. I can't say, hey,
Steve O, I can call him Steve. Oh you can't,
Hey Steve O, would you like to come on my
show her.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
And talk about you?

Speaker 4 (31:37):
No, he's got to say, hey, I was listening to
your sounding great And why did I just call on in? Man,
my old buddy Arnie from high school and college and
stuff like that. I think we would call in and
talk to him and see how he's doing, you know,
But not yet I'm shocked.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
You know, there's a part of me that thinks he
would have no idea. Who you are, he doesn't have
might be.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
A possibility, possibility.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
And you're living in this fantasy land like I am.
With a list of Milano, a couple of other quick
ones here late night drug tester Rights. The only question
on this patriotic day is Arenie going to jinx the
US men's soccer team against Canada in his in.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
The Gold Cup with his picks tonight? Wow? Yeah, I
saw that, So I'm gonna have to make a pick
on that.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
I didn't figure. Wow, that's gonna be tough.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
It's not a good sign, Rod Wrights. Otani needs to
go to the Dodgers. But again, I would put them
in that same category like you did with the Mets.
Are you sure you're gonna be able to get them
long term? If you are, make that move. If not,
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
Man.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
I'm not saying the Dodgers aren't an infinitely better team
with him, because just about everyone is. But I can't
if you don't feel good about potentially bringing him back,
how do you?

Speaker 6 (32:58):
How do you make that move? If you're a team
like LA or New York La.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
So you know has so many Oh well, they used
to have so many weapons down there in the minor
leagues that you know. It was it was a joke
that everybody they brought up was gonna be like all everything.
So I don't know how many guys they can go
get rid of. Member, that's not gonna take a king's
ransom to get Otani.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
But it's on a two and a half month rental.
I disagree, ooh completely. It will take a king's ransom
to get him period, even if it is a rental,
because I don't think anyone in their right mind is
going to trade for him thinking it's a rental, I think,
And I don't think the Angels are just gonna give
him up. I mean, you're not gonna get him for

(33:42):
I'll never forget Arnie. One time they were remember when
Cal Daniels was really good. Former Reds outfielder Cal Daniels
spent some time with the Dodgers too, I think, And
I remember listening and there was a caller to a
Saint Louis sports radio station. They said, I like Cal Daniels,
maybe we should trade for him and Eric Davis, and
I don't know, give up like Tom pak Nasey and

(34:02):
you're like, what And that's how I feel. You're painting
this to where you think the Angels will just take
anyone to get rid of him because they're afraid that
he's not going to sign back.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
And if you don't take anyone, what dro option after that?

Speaker 6 (34:17):
Arnie?

Speaker 3 (34:18):
You give your best shot to make it work with him.
You don't just give him up for nothing. What if
you give him up for nothing? He's like, I didn't
want to go anywhere else.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
But how's my ta how's that gonna taste if he
walked away and you got absolutely nothing for the best
guy in the history of the game.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Take my chances outside of a crappy package of prospects. Now,
if he's I mean, wouldn't you when you take that chance?
You're like, oh, well, I wouldn't take that much for him.
You're just like defeated him. I don't feel like always
going somewhere.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Well, I don't think it's it's really taking a chance.
I think the ownership would know by now, at least
I hope they would know whether he wants to stay
or wants to go.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
I would think you'd have that talk with him by.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
Now, and I think they've been given positive news, which
is why I don't think they're gonna trade them. And
then Cowbird rites, where's Arnie summer league bets? I need
to make up the money I'd spend at the arcade
otherwise I'm sleeping on the couch. Wow, I think you're like,
oh for three in your summer league bets so far?

Speaker 6 (35:14):
Though? Am I own for three? On the server?

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Behead of that.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Whatever you gave on Sunday night you missed gave two? Yeah,
I think you missed them both, so you're owing to
So it's you don't even know who I took.

Speaker 6 (35:26):
Someone sent it to us on Twitter. These people keep
you and basically accountable for your picks.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Not everyone. This isn't one on one sports Arnie. People
didn't hear it and forget it and then have to
wait on hold to yell a you. They got Twitter
right now where they can interact right away, so we'll
get your picks to put a rap on this edition
of Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio
