com the way tire buying should be. And yes, yes,
(00:52):
I said it last hour, I'm saying it now. The
Mets lead the Diamondbacks eight to nothing in the fifth inning.
They could be sweeping the Diamondbacks. The Mets have not
lost since Mike Harmon started taking time off from the
show for vacation, so the Mets have gone undefeated in July.
As long as this happens, Aaron, You're in every night, Okay,
(01:13):
so every night.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I know I have probably taken Mike Carmon's job at
this point. As long as a Mets win, is he
still your best friend though?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yes? Okay, that's good. That's good. I don't want him
to lose everything. No, no, no, no, He'll keep the title. Okay.
And also, I want to say this before you get
into the big NFL topic that we mentioned a couple
seconds ago. I remember this because I remember doing this
when I was younger, and it was the best present
I could give to myself on this day. Let's go
(01:46):
is shooting a night off with his wife, with his family,
going out drinking with anybody. That's a real g right there.
Aaron Torres on his birthday is doing the show with
us tonight. You could be out doing a lot of things.
Thank you for coming in. I, like I said, I've
done this before, and it was always I'm on the
air tonight. It's gonna be fun. I turned forty on
(02:08):
the air. Wow. Yeah, and you should see I felt
really old right after. Don't do that, but I kind
of hear it. I feel you coming in on your
birthday tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Well, if Harmon's children have a soccer event in July sixth,
twenty twenty five, I mean I might be turning forty
on air with you.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Listen, Harmon's finished as long as the Mets win, as
long as the Mets win two outs in the bottom
of the fifth. Okay, Jason, we're one out of way
from being in a finish finish. We're saying him to
stay home. Oh okay, Okay, that's fine. So kind of
like Peter in office space. So you're gonna quit. No,
I'm just not gonna go. So you're quitting. No, not
gonna go there anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
By the way, So, by the way, thank you very
much for the birthday shout out. But yes, it is
a privilege to be with you. It was funny. I
did ask my wife. I said, yeah, and I want
to like ruin any surprises, but you don't have anything
planned for my birthday, right, And she's like, no, no, no, no,
you're good. If you want to work, go work. Then
she goes, well, hang out Friday, and I go, oh,
I'm in on Friday too. I took that one because
I was like, I know, there's nothing going on the seventh,
(03:06):
but the sixth, I want to make sure. But now
she you know, listen, I mean a couple of things. One,
you know, I'm very fortunate my wife supports, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Me working.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
But more importantly than that, man, we're talking sports, like
we're getting paid to talk sports. Like this is you know,
it's not work, it's not a job, and it's a
it's a it's always a privilege to work with you.
But like this is what I would be doing. I'd
be sitting at home watching games anyway. So I'm fortunate
enough to do it with you.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Aaron, your wife's not listening to the show tonight, that's what.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
You think she's got the Jason Smith Mike Harmon post
her up as I'm kidding, that's.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Jason ordered strippers. That's why I asked, oh hey, as
far as you know, as far as wait, wait, and
when Frostbrook says that, I mean pizza, that's the that's
the code. That's the code pizza. You know, strippers the
code for pizza. Or is pizza the code for stripper?
It depends, yeah, because I think I think it's the opposite.
It's suppose you're supposed to say we ordered pizza wink wink,
but instead you said we or strippers wink winks. So
(04:01):
either way she is listening. You share a birthday with
Kevin Hart, I do, and I do that one. Sylvester stallone.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I did not know that until this week because I
watched Creed last week and I looked up Sylvester Stall
and see how old he was.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I had no idea but continue and Zion Williamson, I
did know that. I'm very discrying. Yeah, you just so
it's that, like, you guys both do well with the ladies.
Like is that a thing?
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Now?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
You guys, I don't think I have any women, you know,
you know who wants you know, who wants everybody to
go to threads and cancel Twitter? Is Zion williamsig a
lot of stuff coming out on him on Twitter right now.
He just hopes threads becomes a thing and Mariah Mills
stays on Twitter by herself.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
I think that's what he's hoping. When's the last time
you blew your shoe out? No?
Speaker 3 (04:43):
No, I've also never had a woman tweeting the things.
Thank goodness that we're tweeted about, Zion.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
But I'm so glad you said what you said Frostburg boy,
because that you think I was gonna say, get your
heart of the gun didn't start well.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
You also share a birthday with President George W. Bush.
I know, I knew that, and Larsa Pippin. Whoa, I
didn't know that about Larsa Pippin, did you? I know that?
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, I'm thirty eighth though I'm too old for her,
so she definitely not.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Not that able. But yeah, you are way too old. Yes. Also,
you share a birthday with Paalgasol.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Did not know who was forty three. McGregor is somewhere
in this range. I don't think it's the sixth, but no,
he's he's close the Dalai Lama.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Oh yeah, some compare me to him. They well, some
of the Lama, the flowing robes, the grace and Manny Machado,
Manny Machado. Oh you don't want that one. So McGregor
is the fourteenth. That's my wife's birthday.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Knew it was right around here, okay, but yes, so
I knew Zion, I knew Sylvester Salon that I learned
this week. I knew fifty cent and I knew George
Bush because I remember when he was president. Like back
when you could make political jokes without offending people. I
said something about, like, I have to be president because
(05:55):
we're never gonna if you want July sixth off, it's
never gonna happen with him as president.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
And it was like a knee slapper back then.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
President certain president's their birthday, you get off, and I
think things weren't going very well at that time. I said, well,
I got to be president now because that's the only
way you're getting off. July sixth is his birthday. And
it was a knee slapper back then. Now you can't
joke about presidents. You piss off somebody and somebody gets upset.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
And you know, President Aaron Torres says on his birthday,
he's partoning every bad trade in NBA history.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
You are all partner. It's the opposite James Harden. You
sign the contract, You're stuck there on there.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Stop, it's not happening. James Harden is not going around
out keep trying to do this. They keep trying to
do this to me. They keep trying to say James
Harden like they're going to magically make it happen at.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Some point, not happening tonight or tomorrow, because I'm in
with you tomorrow. Can we tell Tim, like, if the
Mets hold on tonight, you're in tomorrow. So they told
me I'm coming in either way. I think, well, it
looks good right now. I mean it's eight nothing in
the sixth it looks good. But if they blow this, yeah,
you're you may never work in Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Wow, you've gone from day present. You've gone from what
a great gig to now, hey, happy birthday, You're fired.
That's that. It's not even on Saturday. He's gonna call
it in the scott on his yacht.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I do want to ask you some questions about James harrh.
I know now might not be the appropriate moment in time,
but I have some questions.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah, no, we'll get how about this. We will in
honor of your birthday. I will answer all your James
Harden's questions in about forty minutes. Oh so good. Sure, Yeah,
once the pizza gets it, pizza, once the pizza gets it.

get past Victor Webbin Yam and Britney Spears getting into it.
A bit of an altercation in Vegas last night.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
The rumors that Tom Brady and Kim Kardashian are dating.
Those rumors have intensified hugely thanks to Michael Rubin and
his white party that he had in the Hamptons this
week and which everybody dresses in white and wears for
the entire party. Uh. All kinds of reports that Brady
and Kim kardashi knew. There were rumors a couple of
(08:16):
weeks ago that maybe they were dating because she potentially
was buying a house near where he lives in Miami.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
And now, according to sources, they were super flirty with
each other. They were seen during the day on the beach,
they were dancing together at night, and of course anybody
asked me, I said, no, no, no, They're just friends.
They're not dating, which is what everybody says.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
We don't know, and I'm not Liz, I'm not the
gossip page of the New York Posts. Well, we don't
know yet. So men and women are just friends. We
don't know. Yeah, women can be friends. Have had more
face plastic surgery Brady or Kim Whoa allegedly allegedly Brady allegedly.
I think Brady just got really thin. Brady's like, but
(09:01):
Shin can cut you. You know what, society, It's like,
he could kill people with it. I could kill you
with this part of my face is. You know, obviously,
when athletes or stars and superstars and icons are in relationships,
I always sit there and wonder and go, go is
this relationship real? And what's happening? And just going back
(09:22):
follow me on this here a little bit. Is that
no matter what kind of relationship you're in, Tom Brady,
just el Bunchin. We're together for a And I love
still being able to say bunchin like that because I
like saying bunchin. It's a fun word to say bunchin.
When Brady and Bunchin were together, they made a lot
of headlines and very famous, but then the divorce was
(09:42):
the topic of conversation the last year. Brady was walking
away from the NFL because of this, or maybe he
wasn't and he had to fix things. And in time
since the divorce happened, they have both still remained front
page news right for different because they have now gone
from being model and quarterback into celebrities. When you are
(10:04):
famous for who you are, which is a level of
fame that not many people get to, but they get there.
No matter what Tom Brady does the rest of his life,
he has a level of fame. He's not like any
other retired quarterback. He's not even Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning
needs to keep doing stuff in the NFL to be famous,
and Tom Brady's just gonna be famous for who he is.
Same thing with Jiselle Bunchin She's now famous for being
(10:24):
who she is. Tiger Woods is a celebrity. Whenever he
does the rest of his life, he's a celebrity. So
knowing this right after the divorce happened, right because we
found out really fast, what did we see for the
next like three months, Giselle Bunching out living her best life. Yep,
right everywhere. Here she is horseback, Here she is in
Costa Rica. Here she is on a runway. Here she
(10:46):
is with the jiu jitsu trainer that may or may
not be your boyfriend. And then you had to think, no,
it's not, they're just friends. And then but here's the
jiu jitsu boyfriend again. No, no, they're just friends. Here
they are again, and here they are again, Here they
are again. Here they're again. Everything was. Gizelle is living
her best life because both of them want to win
the breakup for sure. No matter what, even whether you're
(11:08):
famous or not, you want to try to win the breakup.
You want to be able to be the first person
to say to your friends, hey, yeah, no we broke up,
but you guys are together for so long. Yes I know,
but it's cool. Now I'm dating so and so and
I've dated Oh yeah, no, no, I'm good. I'm good. Wow.
That person's really winning the Everybody wants to win competitive
they want to win the breakup, and Gizelle seemingly was
on that road. Like boy. She is winning this breakup
because she is out living her best life. And Tom
(11:30):
Brady is struggling through a season in which we don't
know how he's gonna do. And and look how thin
he was and is even gonna get to the playoffs?
What's gonna happen? And so now we've hit the off season,
and how do you win if you're Tom Brady at
this point because Jaelle Bunchen is leaped way ahead of you.
Oh you were dating Kim Kardashian. Whoa you talk about
(11:52):
taking someone dating someone and being with someone and taking
that fame level to the next level. I mean, that's
it right here. This is so I will I look
at this and I go, how much of this is
is a real relate? I always think this with celebrities.
How much is real relationships? And how much is this
is the image I want out there because this is
what I want people to see, because I see this as, Oh,
(12:13):
here's now Brady in the offseason, things have calmed down
and doing Oh I you know, could be because the
guy could date anybody who wants to, and Kim Kardashian
date anybody she wants to. Hey, these two could be dating.
And now hey, Brady's got the leg up and the
who's winning the breakup between him and Kim Kardashian.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
So Brady clearly won the last breakup, which was Belichick,
and he's gonna be like, here's my question, though, and
I'm just gonna throw it out there, like, even at
her best, even when Tom Brady was getting his brains
beat in with a lousy Buccaneers team, did Zell really
win the breakup those first few months? Because think about it,
(12:49):
so all I heard for the last twenty years, ten years,
most beautiful woman in the world, supermodel makes more than
Tom Brady, and she ends up with her kids jiu
jitsu instructor, Like what come on now, you know? And
then you know, we all know, like we all remember
those memes of like, oh, Gizelle single meme of Pete Davidson,
(13:09):
you know, like but it's just like the point I'm
trying to make is, like, you know, neither of these
people had been on the market for fifteen, twenty years,
whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
And Gizelle, you know, her.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Opening statement in the relationship Breakup Court of Law is
the jiu jitsu instructor.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I never thought she won the breakup.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Now, if you want to talk about she's at Carnival,
she's dancing with her girls, she's doing whatever, horseback riding,
that's one thing. But you spent all this time, you
broke up with the goat, the greatest quarterback of all
time for a jiu jitsu instructor, give me break.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
But you know, you know what this is. You know
this is this is winning the breakup with Shaq and
Kobe right because Shaq went to the heat right now,
I'm gonna go there and he won a title. Did
they win because he went because of Dwayne Wade? Yeah?
But I won. But I won the first being of
the breakup. Then Shaq was on eleven different teams the
rest of his career, and Kobe went and went to
three more finals and won two more of them. So
(14:00):
that's kind of what I see. This is like, Well,
Giselle wanted to strike first, so I'm striking first. Now
this is my best life. I'm on a horse, I'm
here all this stuff, and okay, the jiu jitsu guy. Okay,
So so we're dating whatever it is. But now here's
Brady playing the long game, and here he is with
Kim Kardashian.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I just I I she waited all that time, and
she's the one that initiated the breakup, and I I
spent my last ten years being a good wife to him,
and it's my time now. The jiu jitsu instructor not
even like you know, if it was like one of
the Gracie brothers or something, and it's like a world
famous jiu jitsu instructor, just some new training, the world
famous jiu jitsu I mean, the Gracie family. I mean,
(14:38):
is that really after you just made that up? Now
it's like, hoyscrazy, Really you really know a famous jiu
jitsu instructor. I mean it's because they like basically invented
m m acres.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Oh mma, yeah, okay, now I get I didn't put
two and two together. Yes, soys crazy. Yeah you said,
I'm sitting there going great. What what are you talking
about now again? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Yeah no, no hoys Gracy, Yeah yeah, martial artist. I'm just
saying that was that was hurt. Like I said, that's
the opening remark, right, you know, to strike fast, you
got to strike fast like that. That's what the juditsual
instructor did. But it's like, I mean, good for him.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Strike fast, strike card, no mercy, sir, Like like when

(16:27):
on the hotline for all the big news in the NFL.
He is a long time NFL insider. He is the
author of eight books, only three of them are picture books.
He has hot takes on running backs in the Hall
of Fame. He is a long time Hall of Very
Good voter himself. It is Jason Cole Jake, call what's happening, buddy.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
No. I feel like Charles Grodin in Istar when you
say Haul of Very Good, I just want to scream.
It's you know, like when when Charles Gruden goes.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Just to shoot them, just just shoot them.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
That is That's what I feel like, I really do.
I'm channeling a very deep Charles Groden with that bad
to Pay. And it's not even a Charles Goroden from
Midnight Run. It's very understated and very funny in the
most dry way it is. There's tar Charles Groden who
is just angry because it's not going his way. See
(17:31):
that's how it is.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
I wanted to go Midnight Run because I wanted to
say to you, Jason Cole, why are you so unpopular
with the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
That's a long answer. Man a boarder every week, every week.
It's just sitting somewhere and can't going shut him up?
Shut him up now, Oregon, I got to get rid
of him. What are you doing? Oregon? Now?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
You got a really fun bit on on Twitter today?
And I notice you're on threads as well as with
now a hi.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Hi elon exactly what what? What? What?
Speaker 1 (18:09):
What are you at? Hall of very good at What
are you add on threads? What's your room?
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Shut out?
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Who you are?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Shut up? Just as stupid question. Oh I'm feeling great
because the Mets have won two in a row, so
I can act snarky again. Okay, by the way, the Mets,
the Mets are Baseball's versions of the Cowboys. You think
they're going to win, it's going to be a disaster. Yeah,
just telling you write that right now.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
That's okay, Jets. No, No, because now we have Aaron
Rodgers and we're going to win big this year.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
No, I'm talking about the Mets.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
That doesn't matter the Jets yet.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
The Mets now have have Aaron Rodgers, So it doesn't matter.
We're just putting them on every team. So to the Knicks,
yeah that works in the Yeah, got play point guard,
he'll be off. Yeah, there we go. Now.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
The story that today that I had you that had
this written all over you, well, besides the ore Tom
Brady and Kim Kardashian dating, was this Corey Dillon story
that he is he is so upset that he might
not be getting into the Bengals Ring of Honor because
he did an interview with the Athletics saying that he's
really upset that the Bengals are allowing their season ticket
(19:22):
holders to vote who gets in their Ring of Honor.
He said it's garbage and the selection should be done
directly by the front office or a special committee.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Because Mike really loves Corey Dyllan. I'll tell you that.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah, part of his interview. I'm pretty sure they'll put
blanking John Kidney in there before they put me in.
Matter of fact, Scott Mitchell will end up in that
blank or blanker before I do. How do you put
somebody in for popularity and not somebody that has the
stats like me. I love that he is so upset
about maybe not getting in the Bengals Ring of Honor.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Because nothing said special in the history of football like
the Bengals of Honor. Really, Like, I mean, who else
could be in the Bengals Ring of Honor? Are they
gonna Is.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
It like a half a ring? Do they even get
the full ring?
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yet? Yeah? You get a little can Anderson. I mean,
this is a team that's never won a Super Bowl
and you care about being in the Ring of Honor. Now,
if you cared about being in the Patriots Ring of Honor,
i'd respect you.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Bengals.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Really, that's your idea of achievement, Like, that's what you
think is going to set you apart. And you know,
pave the streets in gold because nothing says success like
paving the streets in gold With the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Well, don't you think he had some sort of clause
in his contract that he signed when he's a rookie
that said, yes, and if you ever make the Bengals
Ring of Honor, we will give you a two million
dollar bonus at the end of it. Mike Brown is going,
We're never putting a minute's okay, We're never putting up.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Don't worry, don't worry about that he's never getting in.
He's like, he's like Smithers, Yeah, He's like, yeah, but.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Your big tweet you had that I want to draw
attention to do is you know, being a pro Football
Hall of Fame voter, is all people that you brought up.
You are debating running backs who are not in the
Hall of Fame, whether it's still in Frank Gore, Fred Taylor,
Marshawn Lynch, Sean Alexander. You know whether these guys should
get in or should they only get in the Hall
(21:19):
of very good.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Well, since you think you conslate those being the same,
then you can put all in. But I don't, so
I have a higher standard. Like it's a really interesting group.
And Ricky Waters is in there. People somebody brought up
Ricky Waters who have some pretty good numbers. Now he
has some downside to him, namely they played with a
(21:43):
bunch of superstars for most of his career. But aside
from that, look, I think that I think there's really
tough debate that's going on among among these running backs,
Like I extinguished them. Where we put in a lot
of guys. It pass and I have to own that
(22:08):
because I'm now a voter. I wasn't a voter at
the time when guys like Paul Horning and Jim Taylor
went in. But we've put a lot of running backs
who you look back at and go, yeah, those numbers
don't really measure up, even when you adjust for era,
and you just kind of sit there and go, how
did that really happen? Is it just happened to be like, Oh,
(22:30):
he's a packer and therefore he has to go in,
Because that's what I kind of feel like with Paul Horning,
that he went in just because he was a packer,
not because we really produced that much. And if that's
the baseline, like a lot of these guys deserve to
go in, right, like Fred Taylor deserves to go in.
And I think there's a good argument for Fred Taylor
(22:50):
period because I think he was just an explosive runner
and he was he dominated every time I saw that
guy play. Now, he was injured a lot, I get that,
but he's a really dominant player. And Corey Dillon, despite
the fact that it was not said in the most
eloquent way, he ain't wrong. He's you know, he's not
(23:13):
wrong about that. He has a pretty solid case for
you know, for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And
you know, we haven't really even gotten into a long
discussion about Sean Alexander in that room. And I think
he deserves he deserves long discussion too. I mean, look,
I'm a big Terrell Davis guy. In part. You know,
he had a short career which was amazing for that
(23:35):
you know, that four year time, but he was dominant
in the playoffs. I mean truly truly dominant at the
highest level of the game. And that's what I think
makes him better than this group, but only slightly better
when you look at the long term achievements of most
of these other guys.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Let me let me just ask you. You just brought up
such an interesting point there, Jason. So, I know there
are certain things you can't share for the you know,
credibility and respectability of the Hall, But like, how do
these conversations happen? Is it just a bunch of guys
and girls that love football? Obviously, you guys have had
to work your whole career to get that vote. I mean,
how much can you share about what goes into who
actually ultimately ends up in the Hall.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Well, I can share my opinion generally or the opinion
of other people who put it out there, and this
is you know, I'm telling you how I think about this.
It's really really hard when you get to some of
these guys and try and figure out who's somewhat better
than another. Now again, there are some guys it's like, Okay,
(24:38):
this is a no brainer, you know, sort of like
I'm sure you know Matt Snell. I'm sure that you
think that Matt Snell was a no brainer Smith. But Emerson, Emerson, Boozer, okay,
or the Rickshaw Ferguson. I mean, like, these are automatics
for you.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
They were all very good players. I'm sure you will
vote for all of them and are very good.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Yeah. Well, except Jets are not a very good team historically.
I'm just just saying that.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Aaron Rodgers is going in as a Jet, just so
you know. He's going in as a Jet.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
God, that's sucks.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Imagine if he did just out of spite. He's gonna
win two or three more Super Bowls. Of course he's
going in as a Jet. He's won one with the Packers,
will win three with the Jets. How it's gonna work.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
I don't want to wish him yeah, I really like
Aaron Rodgers, but this is sorry to make new chair
against them.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
I gotta tell you that, I mean keeping him out
of the hall. Guys.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
God, I just I just like, I really really really
like Aaron Rodgers. But man, I hope they go in seventeen.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
God imagine if they went on seventeen and he still
went in the hall as a jet. When owen seventeen
he retired as a jet. He's just like, I'm still
pissed off about this Jordan love stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I'm going in as a jet. J See, well, here's
where he would still go in as a jet, because
if they go own seventeen, the Jets are getting Caleb Williams.
So I feel okay about that. I'm feeling all right.
It didn't work right, we got Caleb Williams. We're all good.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Yeah, all Caleb Williams is not that good.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
But okay, that's I saw the Jets to end up
taking drinks.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
I'm just telling you, Caleb Williams, if he decides he
wants to play that way that he's playing right now
at USC, Caleb Williams is going to have like seventy
thousand concussions as a rookie. That dude holds the ball
way too long, Like, dude, you got to throw it
in this leak. Stop stop running around thinking, Okay, I
(26:32):
can escape everybody. No, you really can't, now, especially when
you play against good players, not the pack, not the
Pac twelve quality stuff.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Now I know, now I know who Caleb Williams blue
off for an interview a few months ago. It was
Jason Cole, that guy that.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
Actually when he put up like eighty thousand points on
Stanford in September, that's where I really hated him. But look,
the debate is really I mean, it's really deep, it's
really educated, and it's really you know, there's some smart stuff,
but at the end of the day, you have to
(27:14):
weigh a lot of things and you got to figure
you're start of figuring out how is the room going,
Like do you think this guy's going to make it
or not? Does that sway your vote or not? Are
people taking a really strong stand on a guy and
do they truly believe in him or are they, you know,
(27:35):
making a cursory argument on his behalf. I mean, it's
it's not what is said as much as how it said.
And I remember, you know, the debate on Paul Tagliabu
before they came up with the Blue Ribbon Committee to
make sure that he got in. Did I say that?
I didn't say that today when you know that was
(27:58):
a really, really tough I'm Paul tagli And I remember
I went right down to the end trying to decide
am I going to vote for this guy or not?
And obviously Tagliboo doesn't matter to most people because he
didn't play and he didn't coach. But to me, he's
such he's such a hot potato of a figure in
(28:21):
the history of the league in terms of how do
you feel about this guy and his contributions to the
league and does he deserve that kind of honor? And
that one was the toughest one. That's the single toughest
one I've ever had to vote on with Paul Tagliboo,
when when I had when I had to vote on
that one, and not when they came up with another
(28:42):
system to get him in.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
And then a generation later it will be the vote
on Caleb Williams. Will he vote for him for the
Pro Football?
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Oh God, God help me, I hope I'm not doing this.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Then you could be running the Pro Football Hall of
Fame by then, who were you kidding?
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Yeah, Porter More, after all of this porker may goo,
I've had enough, let's this guy do it. Yeah, you
think it's so easy? Go ahead, here you go, pal. Yeah.
On top of that, you get to run the whole thing,
and you got to live in camp. There you go.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
He's up at Jason Cole sixty two. That is at
Jason Coles Mattin too.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
What would happen is Steve Cohen and Jerry Jones were
to trade franchises. Oh, I mean benefit greatly, but could
you imagine that, like Jerry Jones in New York run
on the met We had that Carrasco guy. He's he's
got to get a little energy, he's gotta get a
little juice to him. I just I got to help
him out a little bit, you know that Burlander? Verlander?
(29:44):
And how do you say that? Sure? There, I'll just
call him, That's all I'm gonna call him.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
So uh, electronic communication. I can't just like buzz into
the dugout, tell him manager what to do, like that's
that's that's round.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Now in Major League I can't going to the dugout
and shot plays to the manager. I used to talk.
I used to imagine, could you imagine Garry Jones and
Bucks show Walter chickgether so went out.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I wanted to run a certain play. I would just
that the buzzer and Dave Campo, and then he would
know what I wanted. Can I do that with show Walter?
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Buzz for a run, one buzz for a pass thrown
to cherryll thrown to Cheryl? Do that? Do that? I
mean literally, he's done that. He didn't do that. He
didn't do the buzzing of Campo, but pretty much everything else.
All right, I'm out because my music is so, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Here you go, let's going.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
He's also on threads at Hall of Very Good. It
is Jason called Jacol. Thanks a bunch of funny. We'll
see it later.
Speaker 2 (30:45):

a dime. About five minutes ago. The Mets are on
their way to a series sweep of the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks
with coming back to earth a little bit here the
last few games, but still first place team in the West,
although after tonight, if the scores hold padre of the
Dodgers lead the Pirates four to two, and the seventh
the Mets up nine. Nothing here Dodgers and the d
(31:41):
Backs will be tied in the lost column at the
top of the NL West. But much more importantly now
you have to wonder how long is the presumptive rookie
of the year, Corbyn Carroll going to miss. Batting in
the bottom of the seventh inning, he had a bit
of a wild swing on a pitch in the dirt.
Top hand came off the bat and by the time
(32:02):
he finished with his follow through he instantly dropped the bat,
grabbed his arm his right arm, kept his arm very
close to his body immediately walked out of the batter's
box and walked off the field. Did not move, it
did not have anything other than i am coming out
of the game right now, and I'm coming off the field.
According to Nick Pikoro, who is the Diamondbacks beat writer,
(32:25):
said that it is the same arm that he said
in the same shoulder that he said felt weird during
that bat last week, and it's the same shoulder that
needed surgery two years ago. So now we don't know,
but you know, going with that history, he had surgery
on this two years ago. It felt weird a couple
of weeks ago. And now you see this and see
him walk off the field immediately and in a decent
(32:48):
amount of pain, you wonder how long. Hopefully it's not long.
He's a terrific player. He's one of the best stories
in baseball. And he's gonna win Rookie of the Year.
You know, the guys hitting three hundred, He's got over
fifteen home runs, you know, fifty rbi. He's the big
reason why the Diamondbacks are at the top of the NLST.
But things may have just changed.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously, one of the cool
things about being in this shift is you get to
react to news in real time. One of the sad
things is, unfortunately sometimes there's not good news to react to,
and of course sometimes we don't have the full scope
of what's going on. So you obviously hope it's the
best case scenario. But I think you covered a lot
of ground there, Jason, because Diamondbacks one of the best
(33:26):
stories in baseball, and it's in large part because of
the play of this guy. He leads the team in
batting average, tied for the team lead in home runs,
and you know, listen, we live in La you know,
Dodgers are obviously they've been so good for so long,
but it's been pretty cool to see kind of some
fresh blood at the top of that division, specifically as
it pertains to Arizona, which really has you know, kind
(33:48):
of been up and down here over the last couple
of years.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
So just disappointing.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
You hope he's okay, But I think the way that
you laid it out is exactly right. Is when you
have that reaction that he did, when you walk off
the field in the manner in which he did, it's
hard to imagine that things are gonna end up good.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
We hope so, but it's hard to imagine that. Yeah,
usually when a guy comes off the field right that like,
you know, okay, he knows there's something wrong. Like sometimes
it's all right, I'm trying to stay Can I stay?
Is this do I have to shake it off? Can
I stay in the game? And you're unsure, But right
away it was no, this is bad. You're telling the trainers,
I'm out, like I'm walking off right here, and you
saw everybody, Okay, let's just get him out. And now
(34:28):
that's what this becomes about here for the Diamondbacks, and really, hey,
they're one of the best stories in baseball, Like this
is a team that's had trouble even you know, being
a more than a five hundred team the last few years,
and now here they are, finally they've embraced a lot
of baseball's new rule changes. You have guys hitting for
higher average, stealing bases. I mean, this is this is
what the Major League Baseball was hoping that some of
these rule changes would make some of these teams and
(34:50):
turn them into better squads. And they are. But now
you know, you lose a guy that's presumptive Rookie of
the Year and he would have been been the runaway
Rookie of the Year winner now and look at least
out the rest of this weekend. You have the All
Star Break next week. But an injury like that, you
know how long until someone comes back. He was supposed
to start in the game and ten minutes from where
he grew up in Seattle. I mean, you think about
(35:11):
that part of it too. He was I'm gonna play
right in my entire family, everyone's gonna get see me.
I'm I'm gonna get to play right where I grew up.
And instead now you think that's not gonna happen. Yeah,
I mean everything that you said.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Angels Diamondbacks really just one of the best stories.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Looking it up now, they're over under win.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Total for the season was seventy four and a half,
a fourth in the division. They were at fifty wins
coming into tonight. Such a bummer. Hope he's okay, but
obviously hard to imagine that this is going to be
a day to day thing.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
So we'll bring it to you as it comes in.
We get information on Corbyn Carol again the game. In
the top of the eighth inning, the Mets lead at nine.
Nothing Hopefully information coming in maybe half hour forty five
minutes or so, but coming up next we'll get back
into that big NBA trade that could be coming. Keep
it right here, Jason Smith arn Torre is in for Harmon.
