Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in side hour two of The Jason Smith
Show with my bas friend Mike Harmon hobo live from
the Tiraq dot Com studios tyrack dot com. I'll help
you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection at over ten thousand recommended installers tiraq
dot com. The way tire buying should be well. Before

(00:48):
we get to the big story in the NFL, let
me tell you this. If I gave you the over
under right now of New York Mets starts, Justin Verlander
has left and I put it at one and a half,
I'm taking the under. I'm taking the under.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
He has gone for the nineteenth.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
He's got two more starts. You said the Star before
the deadline. He's got two more starts before the deadline.
Tonight nearly he could have pitched. He could have gone
complete game tonight against the White Sox.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
He was didn't he He's.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Hitting that well because because you know, the Mets want
to trade him, they don't want to They don't want to.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Risk him gain because those ten pitches are gonna throw
it all off.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Doesn't matter if it's gonna happen to anybody, it's gonna
happen to the Mets, all right, you know this by now.
Nobody won't happen to anybody else. It would happen to them.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
It's fair point.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
And look at Verlander, one strike away from a complete
game and there he's leaving all His elbow is bleeding profusely.
They're gonna have to do something to that just to
get him off the field.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
It's like someone falls. Someone falls when they're skiing. That
was gonna be the last run of the day, man,
that was it. It was gonna be my last pitch
of the day, my last pitch, and look at what
Look what happened.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Man, It's just crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
But you know, we talked about Otani last night, and
the trade deadline is gonna be huge because the Mets
and the Padres all have big stars, will all wind
up being big sellers, and Justin Verlander and Max Schurzer
very quietly, over the course last three weeks, have started
to pitch pretty well. You had a great start from
Scherzer on Sunday. You had vintage Verlander tonight right and

(02:26):
eight innings, one hundred pitches. Uh, just allows one run.
He has pitched pretty well recently, to the point where
you think, okay, he's getting it back. Now his last
five stars, six starts, he's all gone. He's gone at
least six innings in as long as Steve Cohen's going
to absorb some of the money, and he will. This
is the genius of having money. It's why having money

(02:47):
is great.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Someone's going to say, oh, yeah, yeah, it looks like
Verlander's getting it back. The juice of a Pennant race
is gonna make it even better for him. Yeah, let's
go get him, and you'll be able to make a
move for ver I'm telling you, Verlander Schurzer as untradable
as they were three weeks ago, eminently tradeable. Now they'll
both be on new teams out of the Mets, will
wait for that last one at the end of July.

(03:10):
He'll probably make one more unless they want to trade
him off the high here coming off this start against
the White Sox. I wouldn't blame if they did, because
why do you want to wait one more start? He's
coming off of a series of great starts. Now as
e Ra in July is two and a half. Uh so,
it's been a pretty good last half of the season
for him so far, about half his starts he's been

(03:31):
pretty good. So yeah, I mean this is this is
kind of it. Now you're gonna you're gonna make a move.
Verlander's gone and it's gonna be you getting him Frostburg.
So just be happy your Dodgers are gonna get Verlander. Face,
I'm making it. If you keep saying the Nicks are
getting hard and I'm saying you're getting Verlinder, not science,
it's happening unlike dogs, Well.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
I would say this science.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah, I'm gonna extend this back to my Lardy Moreno
take with Steve Cohen. It's just money and poor money spent.
He'll be happy to spend more of it. You know what,
Let's keep the band together. We'll fix the holes and
we'll go after it next year instead of selling it
off for parts.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
You can totally see this, Yeah, great.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Treasure anywhere else, Jason, that guy's trash.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Nobody says trash, No, no, no. Verlander and surs Are
are both players that teams can see of, okay, garbage,
if you're gonna pay half of their salary, yes, for
the rest of this year and next year. I will
go in on Justin Verlander. And the thing is is
that you know, Cohen has said, Hey, I don't want
to just be a guy buying players. I want to
make sure our farm system is really good too. And

(04:34):
he wants to be like the Dodgers, with the Dodger
done it perfectly the past decade combination of we go
out and spend on players because we have the money,
or and also players coming up from the miners who
come up and they all hit three point fifty and
half of them wind up starting. That's kind of what
he wants. And if you're not winning and you can
get those players for Verlander and surres Er, if you're
gonna absorb the money, that's what's gonna happen. Cause you

(04:56):
don't know. I mean, they've already seen Hey, this year
we had Verlander and Schurz or the start this year,
what happened, our season was over. By the time we
didn't get to July and our season was over. So yeah,
I think they know that. Trying to trust at thirty
nine and forty for one more year, No, no, no,
we're gonna roll the dice that we're going to trade
them and whatever happens next year is fine. We're gonna
get younger pitchers and spend other money. Probably bad, but

(05:16):
we're still gonna go spend other money in the offseason.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Well I like that in theory. I just think he's stubborn.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
The fact that you're hitting all of robust two thirty
eight is a team really stands in the uh in
a giant thing to bring out the gog mark on.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Really, I thought it would be lower. If you said
right off the time, I would say, what are we
hitting two twenty five?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
The only teams behind them? You want to guess who
the three teams behind them are? The po the podres
No International League, only fifteen teams.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Oh, okay, the only teams worse than the Mets hitting.
I'm gonna say the Cardinals. Nope, not the Cardinals really.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Okay, the points higher actually the Pirates, the Pirates, the
Rockies and the Nationals, the Pirates, the Padres and the Brewers. Yeah,
and the Brewers really just Smith kept talking and the Brewers.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Comers are at two thirty one woof man, Okay for
the year. Wow.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
So but they've been stealing bases. They're at seventy eight.
They've got one hundred and one home runs obviously, uh decimated.
I mean that's that's not nothing to write home about. That.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
There's only four teams worse.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Than you there, but yeah, their batting average is just atrocious.
So for the Mets, you know, normally you can blame
the breakdown of the upper thirties pitchers. They're they're not
even on the short list here man, not to mention
your manager and his bullpen management.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Uh yeah, but when you have guys who are thirty
nine and forty and you're on the road for a year, no, no,
no time to move on time time those guys. You
have to trade those guys. You have to move on them.
You have said, that's what you're dading. What do you
get get frostburgby get both Verlander and Sures. It's gonna
be Verlander insurser for Cindergard. That's gonna be the trade

(07:06):
that's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
No, what they're gonna get though, is the Dodgers. Hey,
you know what we do really well? So these guys
down in low A just wait, every you just wait?

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (07:18):
No, no, Twitter, and how about a Fresco Mike get
swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend.
My comment to get more on these stories coming up
in a few minutes with John Paul Morosi. But Mike,
I want to talk about opportunity.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I want.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I want to talk to.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
You about me.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah, yeah, yo, yo, Yeah, you're you're one of those
business guys dreams, sir. Can I interest you in a
potential time share?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Sure, I don't know people like that. I dare you.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Hey, let me show you a diagram what a triangle
looks like. Let's say you're at the top of the
triangle and you're the richest guy at the top. Now
there's two people below you that I want. So we know.
The last couple of days, the Jets report for training
camp today. Everybody is there to make a trade. They trade.
Denzel Mims already things are happening, and huge Hard Knocks
is very very happy. All right, we gotta trade at

(08:07):
least they don't want to show us cutting guys, so
we gotta do something else. The Jets have said they're
not gonna be partners with the NFL like Hard Knocks
has been, because they don't believe in showing players getting cut.
The Jets said, listen, you're gonna shove this down our throat.
We're gonna we're gonna do things our way, and you're
gonna have to find a way around it. And that's
the first thing we're finding out. The salvo was fired.

(08:28):
We're not gonna let you show guys getting cut. So
now here's HBO sitting here going, oh my goodness, what
kind of season is it going to be? Right? You've you've, you've,
you've already had Adam Schefter saying, hey, the Jets aren't
gonna cooperate. How does this sound, HBO? Oh great, we
got a team. We're gonna feature a team that's not
gonna cooperate. It's time to make lemons. It's time to

(08:51):
make lemonade out of lemons. If you are HBO, and
this is how I would look at it is that. Okay,
what if we just do something completely different this year?
All right, we've had the same formula for Hard Knocks
for the past twenty years. It's been the same thing.
Here are some quirky stories about some of the stars,
and here are the position battles with players you don't

(09:13):
know about, and you find out who wins the battle
and who doesn't. It's been that twenty years. That's been
the show, right, and it's been interesting. But why not
take this opportunity to say, you know what, we're gonna
do something different now. You know, if we can't show
the players being cut, we'll still show the battles. Let's
throw other stuff up against the wall and see what sticks.
Because it's not like Hard Knocks is gonna go away.

(09:35):
People are gonna watch because it's Aaron bleepin' Rodgers. It's
all people care about seeing. Here's Aaron. You can just
show Aaron Rodgers throwing passes for an hour and HBO
is gonna have great ratings on this. But take this
as an opportunity to say we're gonna do something different
now because we can. We've been freed from all right,
we're in this box and here, let's identify the players
we want to talk about. Let's identify the people we

(09:56):
think are good talkers. Yes, okay, Sauce Gardner is pretty good,
and Aaron Rodgers, and instead do something different. You can
have a show within a show hosted by Zach Wilson's mom.
I mean, nothing is off limits. I'd like to say
all these in the middle of Hey, we're back to
Hard Knocks in a minute, but right now, I have
a couple of things I want to get off my chest,
and I'm here with a couple of my friends, and

(10:17):
you know, she's got some friends there and they're having
wine and talking about Zach and Aaron Rodgers. I'd like
to see that. Now back to Hard Knocks. You got
a show within a show right there. Nothing is off limits.
Take this as an opportunity to say we've been freed
from this, this formula that we've had for two decades,
and let's do something else.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
I think what you need is the show within the show.
But it's the celebrity jets fans commenting on what's going on.
So Sandler and James, we grab Hayden Panaitieri because you.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Know, we add her George R. R.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Martin, You got Larry David, Bobby Kaavali comes in Mo
Deane because then the Stranger Things weirdos are going to
watch that and just keep going on down the line.
I think I think we could really make this work.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I'm telling you see it as an opportunity, said, let
me turn this around and make it positive. I like
all the although people would just get mad at George R. Martin,
the wouldn't be on that guy for you.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Here's too right.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Why are you taping stuff when you're not writing? You
should be writing the next wed whatever the winds of
war or the war of win, whatever it is, you
should be writing. How dare you take time out of
your data not write. You should be writing all the time.
We had another book for Game of Thrones. He get
Skyler Aston can run it. I mean like there's a
lot of stuff that you can do here. Skyler Afton.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
He actually did know.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
He's he's got a show on CBS.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
It's truly good. It's him and Marcia gay Harden.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Oh fine, help me Todd find you. Actually, I've seen
commercials for the show. Really good. Are you just saying it?

Speaker 3 (11:51):
No? I've enjoyed it. I've kept up with it really,
which I don't do with a lot of shows.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I get opportunity see it as an opportunity to do
something completely different again because you got to compete with quarterbacks.
Now to show within a show, show with it, how.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
You do it.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 3 (12:32):
You know you can shoot people for just about anything.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, I go. Don't worry. I've I've got a long
list of things ready to suit. T shirt on. Ye
oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I bet. My lawyer says, you're
very close. It's got to be one more month. It's
got to be a certain amount of time that I
have been understressed for and then I can sue.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
So it's a little bit longer.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
A little bit longer.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
What if I give you a hug? Does that minus
a month?

Speaker 1 (12:58):
It depends? If I say no and you hug me
up anyway, that just amps it up. I go even forward?

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Even got you okay?

Speaker 1 (13:04):

(13:46):
baseball stuff to get to. Is Justin Verlander more likely
to get traded after tonight? What about show Heyo Tani,
will Aaron Boone make it to the end of July?
And what the hell was happening with Bryce Harper? The
at bat that's still has everybody wondering just what the
heck is going on. Sixth inning of what would go
on to be a five to three Milwaukee Brewers victory

(14:09):
over the Phillies, Bryce Harper came up to bat and
sat and watched five straight pitches. Not only did he
not swing, he moved the bat down off his shoulders
to his hips. He had no desire to swing. There
was no plan to swing on any at bat. What
did it sound like? It sounded like this. So, like

(14:29):
I said, this left they have in her pen outside
one ball, one strike, it's still not used to it,
and he's lined out to first. That's interesting.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Three or two. What do you think's going on here?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Man?

Speaker 1 (14:55):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
He ain't the best analysts in the You have best
antalysts in the world for nothing, folks, what's going on here? Mony?
I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I have no idea.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
So some of the theories proffered that he stands in
solidarity with sag Afro and the writers Killed of America.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
That's very good or really taking wait for one you
like to the next level. Come on, wait for your pitch.
Wait not yours. That's not you, that's not you. Come on,
wait for your hi, wait for your pitch.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Bob your belt.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Hoby Milner quote. He's a good hitter, so being able
to get a free out like that, we'll take it.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
I like how he said free out, like he didn't
almost walk a guy that wasn't good?

Speaker 4 (15:38):
True, right, But I mean you got like that's the
head game that Bryce Harper was playing.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Though.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Am I gonna swing at the next one that you
groove down Main Street? Because that's really what I was
hoping to have happened at the NDD. You bet right,
groves him a fastball on a three to two count. Uh,
and he hits a monster home run that we're talking
about forever. It's like it was playing possome now. Instead
he just walked back to the Dugout Terry investigation in

(16:07):
Major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Come on, someone's gotta write the article. Is this what Florio?

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Since he likes getting all mad about potential gambling stories,
do you write one about this.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
All right, Mikey, this one's all for you.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
I'm gonna go up there and not swing. I've never
seen anything like that. I mean, striking out on six
pitches not swinging, And I really I don't get it.
I don't get it. Maybe our next guest has the answer.
You can follow him on Twitter at John Morosi. That
is at John Morossi, MLB Network, Fox Sports Radio baseball

(16:41):
insider John Paul Morosi, who is at the Angel sweep
of the Yankees tonight. We'll get to that in a second.
But JP, I don't know, did do you have an
answer for Bryce Harper and the at bat that has
all sports fans everywhere stumped?

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Well, a couple things. First of all, good evening. Second
of all, I guess Hoby Milner just has really good stuff.
He's got really really good stuff.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Just confused him for seven straight pitches.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
Hoby Milner has just devastating stuff right now. He's actually
having a pretty good season, Hoby Milner is. But at
any rate, Yes, that did seem to be a little strange.
There are reports that Bryce is dealing with an illness
at the moment.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
I mean, that was a very very strange at that
he did not let's say, he did not seem in
that moment to be fully engaged with every pitch that
was on the way. Now that that can happen during
the course of a long season, but it did not
seem to be an in character at bat for Bryce Harper.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Yeah, I mean, because it's not if there was something
else when he comes out of the game. But he
came up the ninth inning and got a hit, and
he ran the bases and everything looked fine. Just here
he decided I'm not going to swing, and not only that,
I'm just gonna I'm gonna hope, I'm gonna pull the
bat down. Every time Milner goes into his wife showing
you I am not going to swing, right, I mean, I.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Think it was I don't know who made this particular
comment on social media, but it was as if there
had to be a software update, and it happened at
an inopportune time, as it always does. It's one of
those things where you get the software update when you're
right in the middle of something and said, darn it.
I accidentally clicked and said I need to add the

(18:27):
software update right now. And I guess it just had
to happen in the sixth and the thing of the game.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Tonight just insanity.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Well, you were at Yankees and Angels and all of
a sudden sweep at the Yankees, and the floating dumpster
is there in New York, but all of a sudden
hope Spring's etournal for the Angels, while Jason's dad goes
home crying, Yes.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Well, my goodness, my friends. Yes, if you have a
Yankee fan who is dear to you right now, call them,
make sure they're doing okay, because this team is not
in a good spot and they're waiting and hoping on Judge.
But I don't know that even Aaron Judge can save
this team. They are a flawed roster right now. And honestly,

(19:15):
even more so than the issue of where this team
is going right now, I'm pretty worried about Carlos Rodin
at this stage. He's now three starts into his Yankees tenure.
Really wasn't finding the strike zone today, didn't have it,
blew a kiss to the crowd. Just not really a

(19:37):
good look at this point where they're at. We're in
the middle of July, late July now, and he has
not yet won a game for his new employer, and
he's signed the second largest contract in the history of
the organization among pitchers. So it's just, I don't know, guys.
There's not a lot of good answers right now for
the Yankees, and they've got some young players who have arrived,

(20:00):
but at this point, whether it's Braza, Cabrera Volpi, we
have not really seen a player who's capable of carrying
this offense right now for an extended stretch of time.
Le Mayhew has not bet himself this year. Rizzo is struggling.
The bullpen's been adequate, but the rotation without a healthy

(20:24):
without a healthy Cortes, and with Savarino struggling and Rodin
not being a factor, I just I'm not seeing a
lot of hope right now because this team is they
They may well be the last place team in the
best division we have ever seen, but they are still

(20:44):
a last place team, and last place teams the last
time I checked do not make the playoffs. I mean,
this team is you know, the Red Sox have passed
them by, The Blue Jays are better than them, The
Rays and Orioles are clearly better than them. You know,
there be people who say, Okay, what are the Yankees
gonna do the deadline? And my answer is not much. Well,

(21:06):
I don't know what they can do. They're they're in trouble.
They really are. That they're in trouble for this year
and and they're in a bit of trouble for the
future too. Well.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Look, and I hear you, and I'm glad you talked about. Hey,
if you know a Yankee fan, talk to them. They're
you know, they're they're feeling it right now. Because my
dad's a big Yankee fan. So what I did today
was I called him and left a message and I said, Dad,
you're all the way in last place? Can you hear me?
Can you hear me when I leave you this right? Well,
because you're all the way down in last place. I
did that for my dad today, JP, because I love him.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
That's that's very kind. And by the way, at some point, Jason,
I'm gonna have to get the full story on how
you became a Mets fan and he's a Yankee fan.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Oh no, that's pretty simple. Father's son dynamics.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Yeah no, no, I could tell I can tell you
right now. It's it's pretty it's pretty easy because you know,
I bought them tickets for the game tonight. He went
down to the game. He's driving back really mad. Is
that when when I grew up in the seventies. I
started watching baseball when I was four years old, and
my dad was a Yankees fan. And you know what
television was like in the seventies. You turn on to
watch the Yankees. You know, I'm four years old, five

(22:07):
years old. They're black and white uniforms, okay, and they're
not very exciting. But the Mets are in the bright
blue and the bright orange, and I just loved watching
them because I love baseball. I knew they were losing
every game and they stunk, but I didn't care. It
didn't matter. I just watched them. Hey they're in blue
and orange. They're running around the screen. They're doing something great.
So I was a Mets fan. And then of course
in the early eighties, that was the Mets time. It

(22:27):
wasn't the Yankees time. And that's where you're bond. So
me Mets fan, my dad Yankees fan. That's out right,
and I like that.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
I really believed that. I mean, growing up again, I
grew up in Michigan, But when I saw the Mets
logo in the eighty eight NLCS. I was six, and
I thought that was pretty cool. It was like the hat.
I'll admit it, really I like the Mets hat. The
Mets have a really cool color scheme, cool uniforms. I

(22:56):
would have to say, though, and it's just I'm biased.
I was asked recently who has the best uniforms of baseball?
And I said, without hesitation, the Tigers, because they do.
But if I could not, if I could not pick
the Tigers, my probably my next answer would be the Dodgers.
But I think the Mets have a top five uniform

(23:16):
in baseball.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
I answer to that would be the Dodgers. After the Dodgers,
I would say the A's, and I would say the Guardians,
and I would say the Rays, then the Red Sox,
and then the Mets would be in there somewhere too,
the Mets.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
No, I'm saying the Mets are a top five They're
a top five uniform, they really are. I think the
the Mariners are in there somewhere. I mean that maybe
like the nineteen nineties influence there. For me, the Royals
have an awesome uniform, too awesome home uniform. So at
any rate, please please carry on with your trade deadline
questions after a brief interlude to the uniform fun there.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Well, that's the thing is and does Justin Verlander have
more than one or max vert max ers or have
more than one start left left in Mets uniforms?

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Yeah, they do because here's why, because a couple things.
Number one, I don't think that no matter how much
the Mets are gonna include in terms of money, I
just I don't see a bunch of gms stepping up
and saying, yes, I want a forty year old pitcher
who's making about forty million bucks. I just I don't

(24:23):
that seems complicated to me, and front offices these days
just do not really operate in that way, especially not
when you've got guys out there who are cheaper and
about as good. That's that's where they're at. And by
the way, I want to get out in front of
this now we're going to talk about it. I'm sure
a bunch in the offseason. I just I do not

(24:47):
see a scenario in which the Mets rotation includes for
next year Verlander and Schurzer and sang and Otani. I
just I don't see it that you have to work
around too many guys that need additional rest, and I
that that seems to be a little complicated for me.

(25:08):
I mean, maybe maybe they're gonna surprise me and surprise
the old baseball world Jason. But I I after thinking
about this a fair amount in the last week, especially
where Otani fits in the near term and long term,
the Mets are just not terribly high on my list
of places where he fits.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
JP uh over the weekend, your report, you know, the
listening time for show Hey, And my my response to
you know very currently is if you're not taking calls
as a member of the Angels, you're fired, and if
you're not making them as other gms, you're fired.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
You at least have to say we put it yeah
time right, So I show Hey for me, I don't.
I don't train him. I ride, I ride the lightning.
If I'm already Moreno, but.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
Maybe he's still in the in the offing, Mets don't
do anything because well nobody wants Jason's damage.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Good.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Who's the best player that you expect to be moved
in this morning?

Speaker 5 (26:03):
Good question? First of all, Jason, just to be fair,
while while I do not expect Otani to be a
Met he would look great in their awesome uniforms. I
just wanted to make that, just wanted to.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Make that point.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
He was already been photoshot.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
It's actually my understanding is that that that's new. That's
Jason's new avatar across all social media is showing in
a Mets uniform. But I think so the Angels went
above five hundred today. They've got the Pirates this weekend
and the Tigers next week. They they should win those
two series.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
They really should.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Uh. And so when that's the case, you got Otani
on the Mount Friday. They need to get close. They
need to get close enough to a playoff birth. I
think that the Yankees are are in a free fall,
so the Angels might pass them tune, and the Angels
also have a chance to play the Blue Jays one
one on one here in the coming days, so they're

(27:00):
going to know. I think if the Angels are like
five hundred or lower at the deadline, I really think
they're going to trade them. And if they're closer, if
they're meaningfully close, then I think they'll keep them. Because
Arty Moreno, at his core, is waiting for this team
to show him and to give him a reason to

(27:21):
keep Otani. There are some GMS and some owners at
the deadline who almost look for reasons for their team
to tell them that they're not that competitive and that
they should reboot, and the GM will gladly do that.
I think, in this case already wants to keep them
because let's remember, he might hit sixty homers. And while

(27:42):
I think it would be an amazing boost for a
team like the Orioles or the Rays or the Diamondbacks
to have Otani hit sixty home runs in their uniform,
I think in general, if that's going to happen this year,
it would be good for baseball. If it happened with
a contending, competitive, interesting Angels team down the stretch of September,
that's that's kind of what I feel like for baseball

(28:05):
should happen. But if the Angels stumble in the next
ten days, I really firmly believe the Angel's front office
is prepared to trade him if they are out of
it by August.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
First, you can fall on Twitter at John Morosi, that
is at John Morosi MLB Network Insider JP. As always, buddy,
appreciate your time, and if you see my dad on
the way home wave to him. So that's well, he
really Yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
The one thing I've learned, you know, I came from
Michigan here at to southern California. Have you guys ever
heard that the traffic here is pretty is pretty tough.
Have you guys heard that before?

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Now you must just have it on a bad day.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
No, it's actually very caught on a bad time.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
Your dad is probably still listening to the show. He's
probably still in traffic.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yeah, oh, I'm sure my dad is.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
It's a great for radio. Why do you guys do
a great show with you guys are great for radio.
People in their cars here. It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Thanks a bunch, buddy. Hey, we'll talk to you soon. Enjoy.
Thank you always great stuff from John palm Rose. Yeah,
my dad is driving back right now going. I had
to watch us get swept. Now I'm gonna listen to
my son talk about how we're getting swept.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
I can't listen to that.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
My dad's not like my dad, you know. No, you
know what my dad does. My dad a true story
in his car. He's got a CD player, right, my
dad's got a CD player and he has like every
Arrowsmith CD you could possibly imagine, and he's got him
on like the top of the visor of the UH,
and so he just pulls one off and just so
I guarantee you he's listening to Aerosmith all the way

(29:37):
up because that's his favorite band of all time.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
We see, there you go. I learned something new today.

Draymond Green had quite the day on social media. He

(30:16):
decided to beef a little bit with Jordan Poole's dad
over the fight they got in and practice earlier this year,
and that was pretty interesting. And then Draymond called out
Kevin Garnett wanted to beef with him over a tweet
that Kevin Garnett put out that said Draymond punching Jordan
Poole at practice with the big event from earlier this

(30:39):
year is like a senior punching a freshman who's half
his size and then walks around talking himself up as
if he's like that, come try me, Dre. And then
Draymond Green responded by saying, I tried you when I
was a rookie KG, and you started talking to yourself
like I wasn't talking to you. What's that like? The
freshman picking on a senior citizen that's double his size,

(31:00):
hadedy hashtag Kevin Garnett and put him on there. Yeah,
except just one one small problem with that one just
one one tiny problem. The only problem, and it's very small.
The only problem is it was a fake tweet. Kevin
Garnett never tweeted that at Draymond Green. But Draymond Green decided,
oh I see this from KJA, Oh I'm gonna respond,

(31:20):
and now I'm gonna now beef with Kevin Garnett. I
think my first favorite part of this is that Kevin Garnett,
when he said, hey, dude, not me, fake tweet never
said it, Elon, come help. And that fake account that
put up the tweet from Kevin Garnett. NBA sentel was
then taken off of Twitter. Elon Musk apparently did step

(31:41):
in to help Kevin Garnett and Draymond Green in this beef.
You know, I want a thirty for thirty on how
Twitter is run every day because I just have a
feeling it's like Elon Musk in his room, kind of
like Matthew McConaughey in Tropic Thunder, where he's like playing
Wei and he's got the headset on and people just
telling him what's going on and he's just playing like
we tennis and someone's okay, so we have more stories.

(32:04):
We got to pay out like seven hundred million dollars.
Some people say, all right, cut the check, all right,
and yeah listen threads more people are signing up. Man,
I don't know what to do. Okay, all right, I
got it. What's next? Yeah? Listen. We also have this
whole thing going on where we're losing value and now
that the value is half what it was. Okay, what else?
There's a Twitter beef with a fake Draymond Green Kevin

(32:25):
Garnett think wait wait wait what wait wait I pause
on the game.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Wait what Okay? Take care of that, all right.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
We can't have Kevin Garnett and Draymond Green beefing with
each other and Kevin Garnett saying, all right, take care
of that. The other stuff will figure out. Like that's
how I feel like things go every day on Twitter
with Elon Musk.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Yeah, I mean, you just throw stuff up against the wall.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
I mean, my favorite response comes from our guy from
his verified account at KD tray five. Kevin Durant wasn't
gonna let this go down, right, Gab had beef with Draymond.
You don't want no beef having had beef with Draymond
Green before.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Nah, you know you gotta chill. Do something about this
at God. And if you go and it's the at God.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Account which is verified with over five hundred and forty
six thousand.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Followers, quit wait God God only has five hundred and
forty thousand followers.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Well, whatever the verification process was, other than you know,
buying it, God's.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Got to pay eight dollars just like everybody else.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Come on exactly quote, I will well take it out
of the collection plate. I will judge you. I am
a parody just like your lowercase God is what he
puts there.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
So that's the account that Kevin Durant decided to include
in the process, going, hey, what do you got to
say about this?

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Make this work? So yeah, it's it's just all over
the place.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
But for Draymond Green, you know, it's really one of
the more laughable things because Kevin Garnett, I mean, he
was a guy that did a lot of talking, and
that was part of Draymond's thing, Right, It's like, well,
you know what you talking to yourself or who are
you talking to, who you're communicating with whatever. But for
Draymond Green to fall for, I mean, he got fake
woged and it wasn't even wove.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
He got got.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
He he got got exactly.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
It's not woes, it's not sham's about the second pick
in the draft.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
I mean, it's none of that stuff. It's it's it's
about this.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
No, he got got by what NBA centaur.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
That was centel It was not the centaur. I mean,
NBA Centaur is a whole other guy.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
It's a it's it's half Michael Jordan half minute half
or it's like it's a minotaur, it's a half and half. Look,
Draymond is so incredibly entertaining. But I gotta say I
want a little bit more from him than just I'm beefing, right,
I mean a little bit more there because every time
the general consensus of him is that he's mad, he's

(34:55):
he's beefing with somebody. Right, somebody else had and this
is what's going on. You know, it can't it can't
be that way because the general person thinks, oh, here's Draymond.
While he's always mad about something, he's mad about something,
somebody's saying he's beefing with somebody. Now give me some
entertaining stuff too. Man, you're really entertaining. You're fun be
be that guy, don't don't. You can't just always beef.
And here is he's ready to beef with a fake

(35:16):
Twitter account that's already he was the beef.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
Yeah, it's not even good beef. I mean, this is
the stuff that's been discounted. The it's discolored and needs
to be eaten today. I mean, it's it's terrible.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Come on, be better.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Draymond doesn't want.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
We just eat beef like fifteen ten.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
You don't want any part of KG.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
You gotta be you gotta be more than just a beefer.
You gotta you gotta give it, you gotta be entertaining
to twitter at how about a fresco Mike gets swollen down.
We get back into a huge NFL story coming up
next to you, right here, Jason and Mike Beef Fox
