latest on what we could be seeing the MLB trade
deadline as we get there. If you missed any of
it Fox Sports Radio dot com, get it up on Twitter.
It is there. What the Dodgers could be doing with
an Ronado trade maybe not? Well, the Mets trade Verlander insurreser,
maybe not. Who's gonna be active at the deadline. It
(01:17):
is all there for you Fox Sports Radio dot com
or on Twitter at Fox Sports Radio, and we will
have more baseball throughout the night. Tonight. Dodgers right now
trailing the Reds three to one, but it's early and
the Dodgers may make another trade or two before the
night is over.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
You can't tell mah.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Aaron Judge back tonight for the Yankees. He's got two
walks Yankees and the Orioles Zip zip top of the
sixth inning. I believe, though I can't say this for certain.
Aaron Boone has not been thrown out of tonight's g OK.
So he's all there. Yeah, he's still there. But yet
it's only the sixth inning yet yet it could be yet,
could be it. But how about a couple of big fresh,
(01:55):
big time quarterback stories as we go forward here? We
had a big football hour plan for you come up
here on the show. Number one, let's deal with Joe Burrow.
After leaving practice yesterday for the Bengals, rolling out came
up lame a calf injury. We saw the initial diagnosis
yesterday by internet doctor saying, hey, he's moving his foot
(02:17):
pretty well. I don't think it's going to be a
torn achilles. It is a calf injury, and according to
Zach Taylor, Bengals head coach today, he will be out
a few weeks. Now. Hear that, you go, oh my goodness,
but let's be honest, it's fine, all right. It's the
best case scenario for him. He has never had a
lot of training camp, but he still turned out to
(02:37):
be one of the top five quarterbacks of the NFL.
He's gotten some time already. He wasn't going to play
in the preseason anyway. It's still July. You have another
you have another six weeks until they have to play
for real. It's going to be absolutely fine. This is
a best case scenario for the Bengals. Could is week
one in jeopardy. Sure, he can always say that you
(02:58):
don't know how it's going to recover, but this is
early in camp. Again, the calendar is still in July.
You're not playing until we get to the first week
of September. I'm pretty sure things will be okay. And
Joe Burrow is gonna hop back in like he's not
missed a beat, because that's kind of how it's been
for him throughout his career so far.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, don't see there being any real hampering to this
as long as he gets proper time to recover, doesn't
feel like he needs to rush back, and they're judicious
about the rehab process. Look whenever you can get some
meaningful reps and extra reps for your back. But I
know it's Trevor Simmeyon. I'm not trying to do the
Northwestern thing because lord knows, I don't want to talk
(03:38):
about that's my school right now.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
We just did.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
You just did this as you try to go through it. Well,
I had to do it because you were going to go, oh,
get the Northwestern guys like no backups. Getting significant work
helps you later on in the event that Burrow does
sustain an issue, an illness, whatever it is that would
keep him out of a game later on in the season.
So I think that it's only a positive. You know,
(04:02):
I'm trying to be glass half full guy here because
obviously injuries and we watched so many guys go down
the same practice day. That was a really bad two
hours of news updating. So I walked away from Twitter X. Yeah,
I was like, I'm not doing this.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I'm like, Jets practice is over right, it's over. Let's
it's over ended ended now and you see what's happening
around the league, end this practice.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Who's got a camera on Justin Field? I want to
see where he is and what kind of ice cream
he's eating after having lunch and sitting in a meeting room.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And Justin Field is going to miss the season due
to an ice cream injury. He ate too much and
he got brain freeze and he says he's out now
till probably late December.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
That would be a real tough breakroun there, especially if
he had to settle on an ice cream flavor he
didn't like.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Chocolate peanut butter. Oh, come on, the guy lawns it
on French vanilla. Who the hell eats French vanilla? Nobody does?
What the hell?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Man? Well, I mean it's an bass yeah, I mean
that's kind of like the mixer. You know, when you're
gonna have a cocktail. You want the you need the
margarita mix, but you need something else to make it work, now,
don't ye.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
No, vanilla bean is the mix French villa. Now, French
villa is just like, oh it's just vanilla. No, No,
vanilla bean is what you want. That's all right, we'll.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Look for that later on. But yeah, for Joe Burrow, Yeah,
it's tough when whenever you see a starter go down
and I know, it immediately opens up the conversations of
how hard do you Practically, No guy was training all
off season. It's not like, you know, he was in
mothballs since the last game the Bengals played, and suddenly
he showed up. Anything I want, not that I want
(05:39):
him on quarterback because he's already said I want no
part of it. But he was really interesting talking about
what he did in the off season, you know, talking
about YouTube. Well, I'm not exclusive really to any channel.
I kind of bouncer. I played video games, I watched
some YouTube, I did this, and just moving on that
(06:00):
very interesting buy.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
I'm just waiting to my sixty five million dollars a
year contract, whether it's here or someplace else, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
That's that's the only thing in the short term. They're like,
all right, does this short term? They decide, all right,
we were gonna write you that big novelty check and
we had a guy in the back. He was blowing
up balloons. Joe, We're gonna stop that now.
Speaker 1 (06:22):

(06:46):
I told you two years ago the era of good
feeling for the Bengals. This year they're gonna be great
for the next decade. Listen to me. Everything is fine.
Now let's get to San Francisco, where things are getting
real interesting. Brock Party came back this week after his injury.
We thought he was gonna be out for a long time.
(07:06):
The forty nine ers kind of slow played everything. They
signed Sam Donald Trey Lance was gonna get the reps
with the Ones, but nobody was sure. Just when Purdy
would be back from his UCL injury that he suffered
in the playoffs. He's back at practice, no limitations and already.
The breakdown of the snaps with the first team goes
(07:26):
like this, Perdy is getting more than fifty percent of
the first team reps already, Trey Lance and Sam Donald
are right around twenty percent. Now for Sam Donald, of
course he knows I'm coming in as the backup or
the backup backup. But all of a sudden, Trey Lance
brock Purty has not been eased back in at all.
This is not Hey, Brock is back. We'll make sure
(07:48):
Trey is gonna get the reps. He says, I'm back.
He's at practice and already Perdy is getting fifty percent
of the reps, twice as many first team reps as Lance.
And we've seen some reports that Trey Lance really hasn't
looked that impressive. I'll tell you what a big piece
of drama is gonna be over the course of the
next three to four weeks. One of those guys isn't
(08:11):
making it to the season with the forty nine ers,
and it's gonna be Trey Lance.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Because surprised he was there now, well, surprise he wasn't
traded during the draft season.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
I think they wanted to see Perdy coming back first,
Like Hey, what if his ucl keeps him out into
October and well, then maybe we'll get a chance and
we'll get lucky. We'll see Trey Lance will have to
play and suddenly, hey, look, Trey Lance is pretty good.
But I think they wanted to make sure. But now
that Lance is back, and now that Bert Perdy is
back and he's taking a lot of reps, within the
next week or two, you're gonna start seeing trade stories
(08:44):
start to bulk up in a large way because they're
not gonna go into this season with all three of
those guys at quarterback, right, They're not. They like Sam Darnold,
and Trey Lance is a guy that yes, okay, he
was a guy they drafted at number three. How many
years are you gonna go before you say, you know what,
we just have to move on from the guy. And
if perty's good, what does it mean You're not paying
(09:04):
him anything? Right, you're not paying him anything. Trey Lance
is gonna get dealt He's gonna get traded at some
point because there's gonna be enough quarterback needy teams that
can take a flyer on him. Now, is it gonna
be something more than a fourth round pick? Or maybe
if you're lucky a third round pick, maye, But I'm
thinking if you get a fourth round pick for Trey Lance,
you're pretty lucky. But there are gonna be teams that
(09:27):
can take that risk. There's not many of them that
can say in the middle of training camp, hey, we're
gonna bring in Trey Lance, especially when you don't know
what's going on after this years contract situation. But to
the point where it's got to be a team that
after he acclimates himself, he can see the field for
at least half the season, right, that's it to sign
(09:47):
Trey Lance, to make a trade for him. It's gotta
be that type of situation. Yet we have a question, stop,
come on, Zach Wilson's great. You saw emy off, He'll
come in you.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Aaron Rodgers is even making Zach Wilson grated practice, all
the things people say about how great Zach Wilson the
greatest motivational speaker since you know, Chris Farley was jumping
around in front of Christina Applegate and David Spade.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
But there are some teams that can swing a trade
for him and take a risk on him to say, okay,
if our quarterback situation doesn't work out, and we're sitting
there Week six, Week seven, maybe we're playing well, we
need to jump. Maybe, hey, our quarterback stinks and we
give Trey Lance a half season audition to be our quarterback.
There's some teams out there, and I'll tell you who
(10:37):
they are. Number one is a New England Patriots because
they're going and you know, Mac Jones and Bill Belichick
don't see eye to eye. We've heard reports that that
Belichick and Jones, Hey, they don't really talk that much.
And you know, Mac Jones not one of his favorites.
After saying I'm gonna go outside the team to try
to find out what I should do at quarterback. So
(10:57):
you know Mac Jones is coming in. Okay, it's gonna
be his ah, But hey, Trey Lance is someone clearly
that Bill Belichick can go grab and by the middle
of the season, whether it's because he hates Mac Jones
or not, if Mac Jones is just okay, guess what
Trey Lance can come in and play and maybe the
New England Patriots hit on something with him. Change of
a change of venue. That could happen for anybody but
the Patriots. That's the first thing I can tell you
(11:19):
can swing a trade for Trein Lance.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Well, I mean, here's here's the question I would have
to ask, does Mac Jones like Bill O'Brien, Dude, they
get along. Can Bill O'Brien coax a performance out of
Mac Jones because Belichicker's gonna have to shut up if
the offense actually performs, right, I mean, yes, he's Bill,
and we appreciate Bill, and I love nothing more than
(11:41):
seeing the clips on the internet after every game that
he actually does breakdowns of film because he's fantastic when
he wants to play along, and he's getting paid handsomely
for the appearance. But that's the larger thing. What's the
relationship right now between Jones and O'Brien, Because you certainly
did a good job, at least on paper, of revitalizing
(12:04):
your receiving corps. Are they all a listeners or are
they any A listers? It doesn't need to be. You
can win with a good defense at B's and C's.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
The next team you can see doing this is Tampa Bay. Right,
They're gonna try to make it work with Baker Mayfield.
Baker and Kyle Trask, both of them, I'm both of them.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Look Wow, Trask hasn't even had the opportunity to show.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
You doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. You know, you're one year
for Mayfield. He showed up in Carolina and he's stunk.
Now suddenly you think he's gonna be really good in
Tampa unless you are tanking for Caleb Williams and Tampa
then Trey Lance. That's a team that can make that move,
saying all right, we'll see and Baker, if you stink
after six weeks, hey, we'll audition Trey Lance for the
(12:47):
rest of the season. Tampa Bay is the next team
for Trey Lance.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Let me ask you this question in an honest moment
with Sean Payton. Tell me that Matt Rule was better
or worse than that?
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Oh, we're talking about the guys who sucked really bad.
Let me tell you about these guys.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Here's the guys on my metal stand. Let's get that
graphic up there. Come on, now, let's get that little
a third.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
So that's the first couple of teams right off the top.
They can do it. Now the team i'd want to
see do it just just for I mean, it's it's
for entertainment purposes, but it would also fit if not
for the person he'd be replacing, But how great would
it be to see the Raiders trade for Trey Lance
and Sundy. Garoppolo's gotta say, ah, great, Now, I gotta
stay healthy. This guy's still in back of me, oh man.
(13:32):
But it would make complete and total sense, because how
healthy is Jimmy Garoppolo gonna be? Is he gonna make
it through the whole season? Look? I like Aiden O'Connell.
I've seen a lot of him play the last few years.
I think he's a good quarterback. But if you can
go hey and get Trey Lance basically for free, and say, hey, Jimmy,
if you get hurt, we're going to Trey Lance, I mean,
I mean, that would just be so great. I can't
escape this guy. It's gotta be the two of us.
(13:53):
Ear But there's a couple those destinations. I'm telling you,
Trey Lance is gonna get dealt, and it's gonna come
sooner rather than because a team's gonna want him in
the building and learning the offense somewhat quickly, and I
don't know if it's gonna be. Lance is gonna even
get a game to play. I mean, today, I seeing
how he did today through four passes, completed one of
(14:13):
them and two of them were gimmes that he missed.
So I don't know how much longer he's even gonna
have before the Niners have to say, we just have
to move on and we got to do something else
and have more of a clarity in our quarterback room
and Rock Perdy to Sam Darnold, that's pretty good clarity.
And you move on from Trey Lance, because I don't
know how you go forward with all three of those
guys on the roster. I don't think you do.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I think the clarity was there.
If Perdy is healthy, Purdy is your guy, Trey Lance,
I've been the guy leading the bandwagon of that sunk
costs man. Don't cry over those draft picks because they
long gone. Now, the Raiders the one thing you have
to remember there. They're in the AFC West. They're gonna stink.
(14:53):
And I've already seen a lot of cool photoshops of
Caleb Williams in a Raiders uniform. Oh, I think you're
gonna contest with that. I don't think they'd get off
of that road. You know that speed train that we
want to build between La and Vegas. I think they'd
like to have that, and Caleb Williams could be the
(15:13):
first passenger.
Speaker 1 (15:14):

Speaker 3 (17:21):
How about Hitty? I've heard a few in my days,
given the circumstance. Maybe once in a while, maybe I've
tried to pull one off myself.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
So it was just a day ago. Sean Payton's comments
made a lot of headlines in regards to Nathaniel Hackett,
former Broncos head coach, the guy he's taking over for,
and the New York Jets, who now employed Nathaniel Hackett
as their offensive coordinator. Decided to do an interview in
which he went nuts on as far as giving his
(17:52):
thoughts about the franchise, what the franchise did last year,
and what the Jets are trying to do. Said that
one of the worst jobs of coaching he's ever seen
what happened last year in Denver. There were too many
cooks making things happen, and he blamed everybody, from the
coaches to Russell Wilson's handlers, to everybody that works in
the organization. And then he said, oh, by the way, yeah,
(18:15):
look at a team like the Jets who's looking for
an offseason endplight. They're like, wait, we're not even talking
to you know. I'm mad at you too, that the
Jets trying to win the off season by signing Aaron Rodgers.
He's seen it happen where teams try to win the
off season and they don't wind up playing well the
next season. Look at them on Hard Knocks. I've seen
it happen. Let's forget for a second the fact that
(18:37):
the Jets had to get a quarterback, and they got
a quarterback, they signed a couple other guys. He got
a lot of attention. The Jets didn't say, hey, we're
completely remaking our roster and giving out ten fifteen million
dollar contracts. No, they brought in Aaron Rodgers. The Jets
didn't choose to go on hard Knocks. Hard Knocks made
the Jets do it. So it's a little bit creative
(18:58):
accounting from Sean Payton. Look at what the Jets are
trying to do. No, you're just upset you're not getting
any of the attention the Jets have. Why am I
not getting it here? With Russell Wilson, and we said
it last night, Mike Harmon. I fully expect to get
an apology from Sean Payton because his comments did not
go over how he thought they were gonna go over,
and we were gonna get one. It was probably gonna
be today, Tada. I can tell the future. You and
(19:20):
I can tell the future. He gave his big apology today.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
It was a terrible, terrible apology. It was you went
in hard that that was like the all right, I
got a note from the bosses that I gotta say
something because yeah, I would say one thing, which there
was the air of truth because we we had talked
(19:46):
about it yesterday. Was how much he'd been so regimented
about changing everything. No, and then like today, people go
into training camp no music since training camp opened in
the mini camps, et cetera. All the media requests a
different world in terms of having access you know, usual
radio stations and people doing live broadcasts and stuff that's
(20:09):
all been cut out. So he had done that, and
he tried to get everybody to get their heads down
and then he says, well and then I didn't and
kind of joked about the Fox thing, which hey, thanks
for listening to the show SHOWNK but it's but it's true, right,
I mean it's it was the Bravado. And look, on
one hand you could say, hey, I like it, it's refreshing,
(20:31):
it's different. The other is, well, it's just it's just
bad business and out of out of sorts for what
you normally would get from coaches. I mean, really, as
close as we've gotten to this was videos of you
have some nice looking feet. I mean, that's it. Otherwise
you don't have a lot of from coaches. Right, They've
got beef with each other and occasionally on on the
(20:53):
field they get after each other. Go back to Buddy
Ryan and Mike Didka in Chicago. I mean I'd go
to the podiums and mock each other. I'm the head coach, No,
I'm really in charge here. Look how much they love me.
They carried me off the field too. You know all
of that stuff, But you don't normally slow hanging fruit. Man.
Everybody knows what a miserable job that was last year.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
So Sean Payton, we knew he was going to apologize,
and he apologized today. But this is it's one of
those fake gas. I'm not really feeling it. Apologies. Take
a listen. This is him Broncos camp today, trying to
walk back but not really his statements from a day ago.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Yeah, listen, I had I had one of those moments
where I still had my fox hat on and and
not my coaching hat on. And you know, I said
this to the team in the meeting yesterday. We've had
a great off season relative to that, you know, and
I've been preaching that message. And here I am the veteran,
you know, stepping in it. And it was it was
a learning experience for me. It was a mistake. Obviously
(21:53):
I needed a little bit more filter. You know, there's
a pound of flesh for these guys, and as a coach,
you stick up for him. And after a while, you know,
we're past that season last year, and and you know,
I said what I said, and obviously I needed a
little bit more restraint. And I regret that.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Thing. For me.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Yeah, I've never been a head coach before. I didn't know.
I didn't know if there was I didn't know the
it was recording. I thought we were just having a conversation.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
He watched an unfrozen caveman lawyer schedule. What I don't
understand us and whatever else you've got going on here.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
And then he went on to say, you know, I
had a couple of lattes, and then I did the
interview and probably so he's blaming the lattes. Yeah, I
really I shouldn't have said what I said. I had
two lattes and I was really excited, so I said
things I shouldn't have said. Again, fake ass apology from
Sean Payton one hundred percent fake. You know what, take
that apology. Stick it. We'll see in week five and
(22:52):
then we'll bring it back.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Then.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Okay, you just stick it, man, because it's not even
it's not even real.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
I know.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
We said, hey, I want to reach out to Robert Sola,
who I admire, and Nathaniel Hacket, who I admire. I mean,
don't tell me you admire Nathaniel Hackett. You do. You
blow towards the guy, and it's not like you had to.
Everybody knows that he's stunk as a head coach last year.
He absolutely stunk. And it's hard for me to say
because he's a Syracuse guy. So but I'm telling you
he's stunk. Everybody knew it, and now you're blaming lattes
(23:17):
and saying a learning experience for me. What a load
of crap that is, man, that's an absolute load of crap.
This is I want to try to tamp this down,
but I really don't. And all he has done is
make things really difficult for the Broncos because now, as
if the Jets weren't going to come into this game
fired up more wait, you see, because you know what
happens in games like this. The quarterback gets an extra
(23:38):
couple of shots in every game. That's when you fire
up a team. Forget about everybody's got to play hard.
You don't win a game on a motion. But this
is what happens when you want to poke the bear
like this, and the Jets are just sitting around going, hey,
everybody just says great stuff about us. Now you're really
mad at us. Quarterbacks get hit a little bit harder
in games like this. That's what you have done.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
And look look, and I'm trying to get people to
choose violent. No, no, no, I'm.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Saying this is what happens. Right, let's go. You watch
you watch quarterback with Mahomes telling Max across me just
don't punch me, dude, dude, just don't punch me. Just
don't punch me. Just don't punch me. Just don't pine
He sead of like a thousand times. Just don't punch
a guy punch me. The guy punched me. I told
him not to punch me. The guy punched me.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
He punched me.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
I mean, that was the entire episode. He punched me.
The guy he walked by and he punched me and
cross me.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Just punched me. He punched me.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Won't me up? He punched me. He punched me. He
woke me up. Uh, that's all you got right that.
This is what happens. This is what happens when you
want to play that kind of headline game and scream
look at me, I don't think your team is good.
Everybody gets an extra shot, but especially the quarterbacks. I'm
not I'm not choosing it. I'm saying this is what happens.
You get into a game like that, emotions run rampant,
(24:46):
and there's late hits and there's dirty hits, and you're
hoping it doesn't happen to your team. That's what you
have done, because that's the impact of when you want
to play, when you want to play blackboard Wars and
you you want to play. Hey, this is going up here.
Look at what he said about us. That's what happens,
and I'm sorry. If he wanted to really apologize, he
would have given something better than that. Hey, Robert Salah,
(25:08):
I'm sorry. I did you know you're you're a great coach.
You're you Jets are a great team. Nathaniel Hackett, I'm sorry.
He would have just called him right away. He would
have just said right away, I'm gonna reach out and
say he said, Hey, you know it's now, we'll figure
it out at some point. Oh, so you say this
and you're gonna call him at some point. If he
was real, it would have been a different kind of apology,
a different kind of of way he went about this.
(25:29):
But instead, no, you know what it is. You know
it's fake. So again I'll say you we'll see you
in week five. We will see you in week five.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
And then he said, blame it on the alcohol. Oh wait,
the latte.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Lat the right thing. Blame it on the latte.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Blame quite the same as Uh, I got to see
Jamie Fox do that live at a uh at a
Ditka event, uh back in the day for the for
the veteran players, and and that was something real watching
a bunch of seventy five year old NFL players dancing along.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
I'm the first guy to tell you when you when
I want I have a latte or a coffee, those
first couple of SIPs, hey, you get hyper aware and
you wake up me. Coffee is like a drug. It's
it's amazing. I'm so glad I discovered it in my
mid forties when I needed it. And I'm like, I
feel fantastic. It is your fault.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
It is you.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
I brought you to it.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
It is your fault. You well, your your problem is
you make good coffee. That's not such your problem. If
you made bad coffee, that would have been fine. But
you made good coffee. And so I get it. But
I'm never gonna go on because I had, because I
had a double lotta. I'm gonna said, you know what,
I think, all you guys steak and then you'll Hacket
steaks and the Jet steak and hard Knock steaks and
(26:40):
all you guys.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Maybe that's what and why he's Frank.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
The thing is everybody loves Frank the tank, and everybody
just feels bad for him. I mean, John Payton is
We're gonna see you on the field. Man, We'll see
you on the field. We'll see you week five, man,
we will see you then.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
But again, he's done everything he can to lift up
Russell Wilson absolve him of all the wrongdoing. So when
things go bad, if they go bad this year, it's
all Russell's fault because clearly I'm a wizard, right my
coaching record stands uh parah, you know, and nobody matches
(27:16):
me except I guess Belichick. But look at where he's
set this all up. It's it's a beautiful thing. I'm
sure he had to issue some other apologies privately to
people that are still working in the building, Like the
Hackett thing was public. Robert Salad gets the uh you know,
gets the ricochet because he hired Hackett. But you got
(27:40):
guys in that building that you still need to go
shake hands, kiss babies. I mean, Bradley Chubb was pissed.
A number of ex current players there that worked with
Hackett were really salty with their statements about what Peyton
had to say. So he's got to go and uh,
you know, go uh rub some shoulders and beg forgiveness
(28:01):
for some guys in that locker.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Room to denise and payroll. Look, it was just that
one time that my check hadn't cleared yet and.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
I was excited at me, what do you want?
Speaker 1 (28:10):
I had a couple of lattes. I'm sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
I was out of my mind. I mean I asked for,
you know, the extra shot. I didn't think he'd put
a second one. I didn't he came with one. I mean,
I I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Me and Pedro Pascal, we're just having all kinds of
shots in our What do you got, Frosburg? I can't
wait to start using. Oh my bad, I had my
Fox hat on in the real world. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that was my Fox Sorry, that's it wasn't me. Yeah,
that's my fault, my Fox out.
Speaker 3 (28:35):

you better get a patch made. I put it on
a shirt.

Progressive dot com. Well, this out of the NBA today
(31:21):
kind of a shocker of a headline that we got
pretty much right before the show came on. Today, the
NBA has sent out a memo two teams addressing Damian
Lillard's trade request. Now, if you remember, Lillard finally asked
for a trade, his agent, Aaron Goodwin, has been telling
everybody that wants trade for Damian Lillard, he only wants
(31:43):
to go to the Heat. He only wants to go
to the Heat. Don't trade for him. It's not gonna
be happy up. Only wants to go to the only
wants to be a Heat member. Only wants to go
to the only wants me to the Heat. Only wants
to be with a Heat.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
The NBA is not happy about this, and they sent
a memo to all thirty teams on Friday stating that quote,
any player or his agent who makes public or private
comments indicating he won't fully perform the services called for
under his player contract and the event of a trade
will be subject to discipline. What does that mean? That
means if you keep saying you're not gonna get traded someplace,
(32:13):
and you say you want to hold out you're gonna
be in a lot of trouble. And you know what,
I dig this by the NBA because I was. I
was on Damian Lillard's side for a long time. Right,
he's a great player. Get out of Portland. It's not
happening for you. But every year he was afraid to say,
afraid to be the bad guy. It's like he's making
up for it now now, okay, afraid to Finally, Yes,
there's a lot of teams that can use you. This
(32:34):
is how it works in the NBA. You have a
couple of referred trade destinations. If you have a good
relationship with your team, they will try to get you there.
But have another team besides the Heat, just in case
we can't make the trade happen. We told you this
trade was gonna take most of the summer, if not
all of it, because the Heat don't have what the
what the Blazers wants is gonna have to be a
third maybe a fourth team involved. But it will happen
(32:55):
at some point. But you hear this and you are
the agent saying, don't trade for me. He won't go there, no, now,
screw it. Now, I hope he doesn't get traded I
hope he doesn't get traded. You don't have any other
possible No, it's this team or not. No, you don't
tell us everywhere you're gonna go. You tell us, Hey,
here's a couple of teams. Work with us. We can
make something happen. We had a great relationship. And now no,
now I only want to go to this team. No, Now,
(33:17):
I hope he has to stay in Portland. Now he's
gotta go back and walk it back and go. Oh,
I'm sorry. I never wanted to leave. My agent said
some things and I didn't know what was going on,
and I was really confused about some stuff. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry. No, Now I hope he doesn't get Now
I hope he has traded someplace doesn't want to go.
I hope he gets traded in Detroit. Hey, go make
that work with Kate Cunningham. Now see how that thing
(33:37):
goes in Detroit by Lillard Detroit Piston's Jersey. Yeah, mego
work the Mega work.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Now.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
I hope that happened. Now, I hope he doesn't just
be realistic, man, just be a little bit instead of
instead of having your agent talk to teams saying don't don't, don't, don't, don't.
What are you doing, man, All you're doing is holding
your team hostage, holding the NBA hostage. There's gotta be
a couple of places you can go play. And that's
how a trade works. You give us something, we give
(34:03):
you something. Not every trade is gonna be on med
Rosario for Noah Cindergard, right, Not every trade is gonna
be that.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Cindergard still pissed. Everybody's mad at him. He's like, there
are too many people tell me it, try to change me.
Oh right, right, I had nothing to do with my performance.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Other people were throwing the ball really slow over the
middle of the plate. It was It wasn't him. It
was about his delivery. They wanted him deliver it slowly.
We want you to don't deliver it ninety eight or
now ninety two or ninety one, deliverate eighty seven.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Hey, Fulham. They're used to the high heat at this point.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
But be a little be a little bit less demanding
with no Now it's here or nothing, and I'm pulling
a big power play, you know what. A little bit
just to be a little bit more giving as to
try to work this out, because now it's hard to
root for him, because now I feel like I'm gonna
do this, and it's like rooting for James Harden. Who
roots for James Harden to get what he wants. Nobody, Now,
maybe the Hamburger guys do because he wants to go
buy Hamburgers. But it's really hard. It's really hard to
(34:56):
sit here and root for Lillard to say when it's
this is my one place and that's it, don't even
call me if you're another team.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Hey, Harden's about as close to an out of shape
guy as there is in the NBA, So I have
to be kindred spirits with him.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
But when it comes to if you trade for hard
and you better be a place with with good Hamburgers.
I mean, I know he likes to buy Hamburgers, whether
for him, his friends, whoever it is hamburg Hamburger places.
It's a big draw if he established.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
But he's also established that he will endorse the uh,
the Hamburger with a social media post for four Hamburgers.
It's not it's not heavy heavy costs. When we talk
about you know, Livy Dunn and all these people what
they get for a post. But you know, with with Lillard,
I mean what this does from the NBA. Is it corroborates? Yeah,
(35:42):
this is legitimate stuff, not just back channel. Hey, get
messages out. It's like, no, no, we we gotta squash
this because it's no longer a you know, whisper. It's
a shout from a megaphone, like you're Jimmy Hart running
around the outside of the ring. Uh the other one.
I mean, Portland wasn't gonna jump at anything because legit,
if the Heat are the only place he's willing to go,
(36:04):
the hell kind of offer you think you're getting from them,
if there's no second or third team involved, wait it out,
waited out magic beans, man, I mean, it's not we
don't have to give him anything. It's not giving me,
h the retiring contract of Eudonnas Haslam.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
It's like when someone keeps offering the same player in
fantasy and you go, don't keep offering me that guy
the Blazer are going. Don't call me back with Tyler Herro,
Do not call me back with him again. We do
not want him. He is not the guy. We gotta
get somebody else. If we're gonna give you Damian Lillard, Look,
it's gonna take a while and all they did is
hurt that trade from happening by saying, oh, hey, it's
(36:42):
gotta be this place or nowhere else to go.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
That's it. I gope he ends up staying in Portland.
By the way, I do like that Detroit roster. By
the way, you were trying to disrespect them.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
It's it's hard to make the Pistons happen, though, Buddy,
it's very good for coming.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
You got pFET there.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
You t don't know how to fresca. Mike gets swollen bme.
Coming up next, we have another big story out of
Major League Baseball, Shoe Otani. This is Fox
