Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Just so you know, they try that ESPN Classic thing.
You know they tried.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I'm just saying to say, you're a company that owns
eighty percent of the games that you ever aired on
that channel.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
But that wouldn't cost you a thing. It used to
be all studio shows. Oh you're gonna get NFL line
my host. You don't have to. There's no expenditure for this.
But this is, you know, with all the layoffs that
have come that we've seen in certainly ESPN's the top
because every every eighteen months it's a I feel like
it's a constant layoff, layoff, layoff. You see the quality
of programming in certain in certain cases where I'll just

(00:57):
use ESPN for example, where it used to be all right, well,
Sports Center is gonna be on then you have a game,
then Sports Center that it's gonna be NFL Live, or
then it's gonna be NBA Live and instead, no, no, no,
you're getting cornhole and you're or you're getting knife I mean,
knife throwing is on tonight, like I think it might
be the quarterfinals of knife throwing somewhere. It's knife throwing.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
The real thing that brought this out vividly to me
was during the pandemic that oh my goodness, nobody watched
the Sports Center anymore is because once ESPN didn't have
games that summer, the Sports Center ratings cratered like never before.
I mean literally like never before. If they didn't have
the Jordan documentary that summer, oh I forget it.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I think some.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
People wouldn't have even known that their cable system, if
they still had cable, was carrying this company's channels.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
It was that bad. Yeah, it it, And you wonder, like,
what's the future gonna be. Are we gonna get more
knife throwing? Are we gonna get more corn all? We
get more pickleball championship the pickleball Championships, right, okay, great,
I mean that's what's on TV now Meanwhile.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
You've got the c seemingly trying to start up a
sports venture from scratch.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
That's the PAC twelve. How that worked? Yeah? I mean,
all right, who gets a better TV contract? The CW
with whatever they bring in or the PAC twelve. I say, sorry,
Pack seven packs. I say that the Pack two.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Tomorrow is gonna announce that all their games are gonna
be on the CW, and anything that's not on that channel,
find it in your local listings.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
And those don't exist anymore either, by the way.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Uh, whatever's not on there is going to be on
some streaming service that you're not paying for.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah. No, And there's stuff I will watch, but like
I would I watch the knife throwing playoffs, like if
you got to throw them at people, Yeah, Like then
i'd watch, like, oh, I'm gonna see if you throw
like are they go into it to targets like the
X throwing, Like are people just standing like if you
put people standing at a tallon throw it or if
they get to run and you got to throw it

(02:55):
on the run and hit them. This isn't like the
ed Ames X throwing on the Johnny Carson Show. This
is where this this is like it's like GoldenEye. You know,
this is yes throwing, Like I I'd watch that. I mean,
I don't think they would fill in and just missing.
That'd be tough.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
You're saying the knife throwing there actually at a circular
target like darts.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, like if someone's standing there, you know, and you're
throw and you hit a certain spot mean okay, like
the heart. Sure, oh yeah, yeah that would that would
that would okay, But that sounds like a dystopian show
where it's like, hey, if you're at the you know,
the bottom of the barrel and your life is not
going well starring Jennifer Lawrence, how about this, you know,
how about you come up here and you can be
part of the knife for that? No, no, no, you

(03:34):
get to run away from it. I mean kind of
like squid Game, except they're throwing knives at you. Yeah,
that's that was all things. So it was kind of
the same type of thing. Yeah, yeah, you're running for
your life from Shilah buff No, that was.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
No, you're right all of that. Everything's going to be
a sport event. Justa running man, Yeah, right, running man.
Oh sure, that was just on tonight. Running Really, it
was just on tonight it was a TV show? Is
it not right?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
And hey, you know not that he was. But Richard
Dawson should have won an Academy Award for Running Man.
I really, man, he was so good an Academy award. Yes,
I mean the guy was the big villain. Come on,
it was so good. He was so good. And he
has a copy of Running Men the Home Game for
you like Running Men the homebome like maybe they knew
what Richard Dawson was by that point.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Oh yeah, he wouldn't have made it onto a movie
set these days.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
No, no, no, no, no, probably not. Probably not.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
By the way, I didn't overstep my bounds and just
create out of thin air when I was talking about
the PAC twelve terlassic. Oh okay, Literally tomorrow morning, the
pack commissioner, maybe the last vestiture of the PAC twelve
PA one is supposed to tell their members remaining what
our TV contract is going to look like. Literally tomorrow morning.

(04:51):
That is supposed to happen.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
And Arizona has a press conference scheduled.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
They were bored media tar afternoon after the morning meeting.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Just think about this for a second. They're going to
announce the TV deal in the morning, and Arizona's got
a press conference scheduled for a couple of hours later. Gee,
you think that means Arizona's gonna say, Hey, we're staying, man,
We're excited. We're excited.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I think you and I can predict right now, whatever
they say regarding television, whatever comes out of the mouth
of the Commission of the PAC twelve is going to
be underwhelming to his constituents, and it will involve some
sort of streaming as well.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Are we correct on both of those. It's going to
be awful, and it's the end of the told you
it's the end of the PAC twelve. Now. The biggest
thing is the ACC has to keep all their teams
because I read today where Florida State and maybe Clemson
could be talking with other well.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
ACC network. If they didn't have that, they'd be done
by now. Now now they have the associated with ESPN,
which means it's going to be knife throwing on ACC network.
It could be coming up soon, maybe more than an hour.
Syracuse knife throwing team. They're pretty good, man. I'll tell you,
we've already watched all of those cleansing versus who cares
college football games?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
And that are called ACC Championships over the years, but
that's the big one. If the ACC is the only
other one that could be in some kind of trying
to if they lose Clemson, Florida State, and Miami like
those are those three bigs. When they lose those schools,
ACC is done and.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
You brought up PAC twelve if Arizona doesn't stay in
the PAC twelve. And first off, it just boggles the
mind as a lifelong Pack twelve fan that Arizona would
leave its rival and go whether the rival follows them
or not, and would follow to some other I mean,
granted geographically a decent conference to go to and a
higher paying conference quite apparently hunch the PAC twelve deal

(06:35):
comes out. But the fact that there are those what
they call the four Corner schools. Have you literally I've
been to on a vacation where you're in the four
corners of those four states on the US map, and
you can literally have a left foot in one state
I did, and a right foot another and a left foot,
left hand and right hand. So Utah, we know Colorado's

(06:56):
going already after next year? Is Utah gonna follow? They
joined the Pack twelve at the same time Colorado, are
they gonna get out if it's really going under? And
that if Arizona is going, does that mean okay, well
in Arizona State kind of haves to go, right, all
four are gonna be going as a group because Utah
if they go to the Big twelve. Guess who's just
now joining the Big twelve? B yu hey works way

(07:19):
everybody go it b BYU and Utah together. If ASU
follows Arizona, it's Arizona State at Arizona together.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
It's gonna be that Jeff of Will Smith from The
Fresh Prince where he's in the last episode. He's where
he's looking around and everything everybody's no, no, no. The
last episode of The Fresh Princes like they moved and
so he like does the last second and there's a
there's a Jeff of him looking around the room and
everything is empty like that. That's what the pack that's
b whyu heym here oh man.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
By the way, with those San Francisco offices to make
a PAC twelve headquarters, the ones that you overpaid for,
You're gonna be the last one turn out the light.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
That's where it's trust me. Tomorrow is gonna be the
big stake through the heart of the PAC twelve. You
were gonna get teams saying we're leaving. I would not
be surprised. In the next three days, we're gonna hear
that Oregon's gone to the Big ten, Washington's gone to
the Big ten, the other schools are leaving. Uh and
and maybe one of those other conferences is gonna try
to poach Clemson or Florida's stay. I mean, this is

(08:13):
this is a huge week and it's gonna kick off tomorrow.
It's gonna it's.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Gonna start tomorrow morning about the Pack twelve under delivering
on the TV media rights deal, which they have told
people month after month.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Oh yeah, we're getting it. We're talking about it now.
Let's we're gonna explain streaming to you, and this is
this is how the revenue is coming in. What are
you gonna do?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Can you imagine all the donors that don't have streaming
that say, wait a minute, how do I get to
see my team?

Speaker 1 (08:35):
What PAC twelve was gonna do is they're gonna bring
somebody in to explain streaming and people just lose interest
and and just just keep talking until everybody is tuned down.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
The same people already lost interest when they said, how
do I see my team when I am in a
PAC twelve city and can't get PACK twelve network, It's over.
Just to be clear, I'm not necessarily me personally not
necessarily expecting a tomorrow afternoon press governance of it airs
an announcement, But I absolutely expecting the members of the

(09:05):
PAC twelve to hear about the media deal, which is
not gonna wow them tomorrow morning. And then the Arizona
Board absolutely is gonna meet in the afternoon. And then
what tomorrow night, San Diego State announces We're going to
the PAC twelve.

from today, I'm going to completely blow your mind. I'm

(09:39):
going to zig where you think I'm gonna zag the
Sean Payton New York Jets back and forth where Sean
Payton did an interview a few days ago and lit
up the Denver Broncos and former head coach Nathaniel Hackett.
They didn't do anything right last year, and we're doing
everything different. And look at the Jets. They tried to
win the off season and they didn't. You know, I've

(09:59):
seen teams try to do that. Now they're doing hard knocks,
and you see how that's gonna turn out. It became
a thing Robert Robert Solo was asked about him, so well,
if you're not hating, you're not really trying. Okay, okay, okay, okay.
And now Aaron Rodgers weighed in over the weekend and
he gave the whole big will Smith keep my wife's name.

(10:20):
Let's listen to what Aaron Rodgers had to say in
response to Sean Payton.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah. I love Nathaniel Hackett and those comments were very
surprising for a coach to do that to another coach.
My love for hat goes deep. You know, we had
some great years together in Green Bay. Kept in touch,
love him and his family. He's an incredible family man,
incredible dad, and on the field, you know, he's arguably
my favorite coach I've ever had in the NFL. Just

(10:45):
his approach to it, how he makes it fun how
he cares about the guys, just how he goes about
his business with respect, with leadership, with honesty, with integrity.
And it made me feel bad that someone who's accomplished
a lot in the league is that insecure that they
have to take another man down to set themselves up
for some sort of easy fall if it doesn't go

(11:07):
well for that team this year. Thought it was way
out of line, inappropriate, and I think he needs to
keep my coaches names out of his mouth.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
All right. First of all, still think the hard knocks
cameras or a distraction for Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, no, this
is what he wants. But before I'm not gonna go
into the hall. Oh but the Jets look at this.
To Jets, I'll see you week five. No, No, let me
just say this because this is what I really thought
of after he said this, How do you think Packers
fans are feeling right now? Going okay, So we want
him to take a pay cut. He wouldn't take it

(11:35):
with us, takes it with the Jets. Now, he's standing
up for a coach that he barely knows. He would
never do that for Matt Lafleur. He would never do
that for Guda, Kunster, Murphy or anybody's He was always silent.
He never had anybody's back. He hated everybody. I just
think Packers fans are going God, I can't believe that

(11:56):
he would never do that. But here he is in
New York and everything is greatest. Hey, my coaches name
out of your mouth. And don't think that's not a
big reason why Aaron Rodgers is doing this. Hey, Green Bay,
see how I am Now you wanted to get rid
of me? I could have been this way. Aha, Oh Packers,
they gotta just have it right now, going Really, he
goes to the wall to stand up for Robert Sala,
who he barely knows. He would never do that for

(12:18):
anybody else. That was so great so far.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
This could not have started well as well for the Jets,
the way things, the reactions to all of this, his
reactions to all of this, as you mentioned, Unfortunately, the
Jets are gonna have to step on the field and
I don't know what their record is gonna be after
the first month of play with Yeah, okay, that remains
to be seen. But they're put it this way. You're
gonna have to Uh. The rubber meets the road. At

(12:42):
some point, you're gonna have to play games. You're a
football team. There are football games to be played.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yeah, but I got a month. I got a month.
I can just love this now. It's all good, love
it as long as like with the Mets, you had
a month, exactly, I had a month. Hey, the Mets
best record, right, the top record they had to share.
There were fourteen and seven. That's when things went bad. Yet,
that's when things went bad. The day after they were
fourteen and seven, the Jets got Aaron Rodgers. So that's it.

(13:07):
That's what happens to pretty Yin and Yang. And you
got a little fun with the Knicks thrown in there. Exactly.
It's all good. But just think of those Packers fans
going really really oh, it's so great. Twitter at at

Way, your best trend. Michael Harmon is not here tonight,
but do back tomorrow unless we trade him. It's tomorrow
six pm Eastern time.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
We get a couple of sandwiches for Harmon. We can
do that.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
We can do that in lieu of mister White Sox
fan not being here. Can I mention that here? Trade
deadline comet last night when we were on the air
last night, the weekend crew the Angels made that trade,
picking up from Colorado, c J Cron and Randall Gritchuk.
Well here tonight. They flew on the road to Atlanta
Angels beat Atlanta, and those two both in their first

(15:44):
few hours in an Angel uniform. Each had an RBI
first game after being dealt in the same mid season
trade That hasn't happened since the White Sox Harold Baines
and Charles Johnson did so after being done from Baltimore
in two thousand and Yeah, we did mention last night,
and many writers brought this up. Randall Gritchuk actually was

(16:06):
a first round pick of the Angels. Originally, I looked
up the two thousand and nine draft. That was the
year Stephen Strasburg was number one overall. The Angels got
Mike Trout in the first round that year, but he
was late first round number twenty five overall. The Angels
had selections twenty four and twenty five. They took Randall
Gritchuk first and then Mike Trout next. Two high school

(16:29):
outfielders joining us now on the hot line to break
it all down. Hey taking time away from the interim
job he has will to be coaching the Michigan Wolverines
football team for the first month.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Of the season. It's MLB Network Insider extraordinary. John Paul
Morosi JP, what's happening Buddy.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Jason and Steve Good evening. That is a great bit
of baseball trivia there that Steve had mentioned. I will
say this about the fact that Gritchik was drafted ahead
of Trout. There are those who believe, and this is
part of the legend of Trout, that the Angels wanted
to draft Gritchik first because they felt as though that

(17:10):
Trout's twice tag was higher and the way to somewhat
try to artificially drive down Mike's signing bonus by a
little bit, like a little bit spot, they would draft
Gritchick one spot higher and say, well, we drafted Gritchick higher,
so we can only give you X amount. Now Mike

(17:32):
has obviously made that amount back, yeah, a billion bold
since then he's done. Okay, he has done just fine.
But it was great, hey for Gritchick. You know, he
comes in and a big home run in his first
game with the Angels all those years later. So a
nice story for the Angels who are still still.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Very much so.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
And the amazing thing about that two thousand and nine
draft is that here the Angels needed outfielders, so they
took back to back two high school outfielders. The two
teams that were drafting right behind Steven Strasburg drafting two
and three overall that year, took outfielders and did not
take Mike Trout Seattle and San Diego. I love looking
back at drafts, but this is kind of an obvious one.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
They're amazing and two of the first five picks in
that draft did not even make the big leagues.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
So how about that.

Speaker 6 (18:19):
Now, it's an amazing, amazing story what would have been,
what might have been, what could have been, just like
Derek Jeter being drafted by the Astros. But this is
this is the time of year where we would reflect
a lot on what can be, what might be, and
then those deals either happen or don't happen. And Jason,
I admit that I am. I guess I'll say this.

(18:41):
I'm very impressed that you just lean right into the
Mets right away. You're not shying away from it. You're saying,
my team is the only team that will have the
largest payroll in the history of the sport, finish under
five hundred in trade, potentially two Hall of Pictures in
the same weekend, the first of which cost you thirty

(19:05):
six million dollars to move on for Max scherz Er Jason,
I'm just not sure where we start.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
My friend, all right, well, let me tell you this.
I'm okay with a surs or trade because obviously, with
Steve Cohen, money is no object, right, that's the best
part about having Steve Cohen as an owner. The thing
is is that I was eminently okay with the serves
or trade, and I'll be okay when they trade Verlander
because if you're just taking the money out of it
and you're getting the prospects back, which is what the
Mets want. These are two pictures that, to varying degrees,

(19:34):
are in decline. Shures is in a little bit more
of a decline than than Verlander is. But the Mets.
You can't go into next year saying, Okay, we'll bounce
back with a forty year old and a thirty nine
year old that they're gonna anchor our starting rotation. The
Mets did that this year, and what happened. They're selling
everybody at the deadline. So just by saying, hey, we
got to move on from these guys because we have

(19:54):
to do something different because this didn't work. You can't
go into next year saying okay, well, these guys will bound.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
No.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Look, Verlander's been really good lately, but you know what,
he was hurt early, and he had trouble, uh discovering
himself again, and by the time he did, the Mets
season was over. Surezer was up and down. He was hurt,
he was suspended, he couldn't find a slider, and he
is in a decline. So the Mets trade and moved
on from him. So I'm okay with that. I was
okay with the Stars of trade, and I'll be okay
with the Verlander trade. I want them to trade him

(20:22):
to Texas. I want Texas to take all our pictures
so they can understand exactly what it's like when you're
trying to rely on to Gram and Verlander and serves
it all stay healthy.

Speaker 6 (20:31):
Well, sure, and that's that's largely rational, So well done.
That is which, by the way, that that might be
a very good tagline for the shows. It's largely rational,
it's larger largely right there, This is a largely rational

(20:51):
radio program.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
So tell me, hearing about Verlander, what do you think
is gonna happen to?

Speaker 6 (20:55):
Right to back up, one quick quick point on on
on the Met's big picture before we get to Berlander.
I agree with you that in some ways you just
got to tip the cap to Steve Collin. I mean,
it takes some serious guts to spend this amount of
money and then effectively spend even more money plus luxury

(21:16):
tax penalty that these guys go away because you're just
that convinced that, you know what, this year just did
not work to your point. When money is no object,
you can do stuff like this. And how many teams
have we seen in the history of sports that when
they make one mistake, they are their successive seasons are

(21:39):
still marred by that mistake. Steve Cohen has basically said,
I will spend whatever money and trade whatever players I
have to trade to make this be a one season mistake,
at least as far as he's concerned. And so I
applaud them for that, I really do. The one question
I have is who besides Senga do we know is
actually in their rotation next year? And I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Kuzman, good, there you go, Darling Fernandez se right, So.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
That's that's where And so then are they going to
go right back into the free agent market and spend
another Lord knows how much money on the rotation. I mean,
that's that's where they're going to be. Now. The other
piece with Verlander, I do think there's at least a
right now, at least a fifty to fifty chance he's traded,

(22:29):
and maybe even higher than that because Justin and we
saw this when he was traded from Detroit to Houston.
He will take his time with this, he and he
the legend goes signed that deal at eleven fifty nine
and fifty nine seconds. He'll he'll take his time here
and he will evaluate and see what the best deal

(22:52):
is for him at the last minute. And I think
that whether it's Houston, whether it's potentially I don't think
the Rangers will get him, but the Dodgers are a possibility,
the Orioles are a possibility. He's going to go to
whatever team has the best chance to win while he

(23:12):
is there. I think that's the key thing for JV.
And when you're a forty year old pitcher, you really
don't want to go through a rebuild. And I think
he looks around and sees that's exactly what's coming.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Now of the New York mess John, when you said
the sentence one mistake marring successive seasons for a franchise.
I immediately thought of Ryan Leaf and the Chargers because
they had to come back around to the number one
overall pick. There's someone to top that. But I want
to talk about the Seattle Mariners. You know, the team
that had the number two overall selection and did not
take Mike Trout in two thousand and nine, just for

(23:44):
the record, needed an outfielder, drafted a college outfielder, but
not the high school outfielder from New Jersey. By the way,
that same month we mentioned this last night on the show,
The exact same month is when the Timberwolves had back
to back picks, took two point guard and neither was
Steph Curry, and Golden State took Curry right after that
was the same month. Astounding anyway, these Seattle Mariners could

(24:07):
wind up taking. Are making three trades in twenty four
hours as we hit the deadline tomorrow at six pm Eastern.
Aren't the Seattle Mariners just as much in the playoff
chase as the Angels or the Yankees? And yet they're selling?
Is that true? They are selling?

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Yeah, they're selling. They're moving fall Seawall. They've already traded
aj Pollock, they're likely to move to Asker Hernandez, and
I applaud them for this, because all seasons are not
created equal. The Angels, this is all about number seventeen
and having one more run with him as your franchise leader.

(24:47):
And they know. The Angels know that they've got really
one chance to keep them and that is to win
and to make the playoffs. And so making the playoffs
in twenty twenty three means way more to the Angels
than the Mariners. The Mariners are, they're a fine ball club.
They've had a bad year by their potential, and I

(25:11):
think they realize they have to reformulate their roster a
little bit before making a better run of this thing
next year. And so the Mariners, after breaking the streak
last year of postseason absences, I think for them that
was a very cathartic moment and it gave them a
degree of focus and said, Okay, our window is open. Now.
That doesn't mean that you win every year. It means

(25:32):
that you're generally competing. And I think that they've gotten
some pieces back for Paul Seawall that will help them compete.
I think that was the right call. The Cubs are
in it because they're playing too well and they don't
really have a They don't really have a good reason
to sell, and that's kind of where they're at. I mean, Stroman,
they probably would still trade him, but he's pitching really

(25:53):
poorly right now, so that doesn't help. And Bellinger is
playing so great he might be on some MVP ballots.
And I think they've got a legitimate chance at an
NL wild card, So why cashing the chips? I think
the Mariners are just in a different place. Candidly watching
the Yankees against tonight, they look like a seller right

(26:15):
now at this point. What evidence do we have that
they're one of the three or four best teams in
the American League? And if they're not so for the
Yankees again, just barely getting in and then getting swept
in the first round, that doesn't do any good in
New York. So I think you have to be honest
to where you're at and what your market is demanding.
The Angels market, in reality, is demanding that they've got

(26:38):
to get Otani or at least try to make the playoffs,
and their best way to do it is to keep
number seventeen go All in trade for Britchick, trade for CJ. Cron,
trade for lucastilto trade for Ranaldo Lopez, bringing everybody, go
for it right now, and if you miss the playoffs
by a couple of games, you can live with it
because you tried in the year that matters the most
to try for that organization.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Let's end here. I'm gonna ask you to fill in
the blanks right filling the blanks here with it the
team that's gonna make the biggest splash tomorrow. Separately, the
biggest trade we're gonna see tomorrow is what who's the
team that you see make first? Who's a team that
you see making the biggest splash tomorrow, whether it's one

(27:20):
big trade or a few minor trades, who makes the
big who makes.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
The big the biggest splash I think is gonna be
Baltimore because they just got the prospects, and I believe
they're in this mix for Verlander. I really do. H
I don't know if they're gonna get them, but their
their farm system is so good they're gonna have an
at bat on this as long as they want one.
They can. They can be involved in any conversation they want,

(27:45):
so I think that Baltimore is poised to make a move,
and if it's not Verlander, maybe it's the Tigers, right
and er Michael Lorenzen, I could see that being a
good fit and the biggest name in the moves. I
really think it's gonna be Verlander. I believe by six
pm Eastern time on Tuesday, Justin Verlander is getting traded.
That's what I believe. And uh, we'll see if it

(28:05):
plays out that way. But the circumstances and my intuition,
the conversations I've had today, I think that's where this
is all heading. Less than twenty four hours from now.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
You can fall on Twitter at John Morosi. That is
at John Morosi MLB Network Insider slash University of Michigan
interim head football coach. JP is always buddy, We appreciate it.
We'll talk to you tomorrow night and we'll be breaking
it all down again. Thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
I can't wait. And we're gonna keep this tape and
play it back only if we said correct things.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Okay, okay, very good money.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
We'll talk to you tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (28:41):
Thanks so much, guys, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
That's why I talk show tapes don't get replayed only
only only if we say correct things. That's the only thing.
Where is that? A look? Great stuff by him? Look
the Orioles. Look, I've told you, I told you months ago.
The Oriols are gonna win the Al East. Right as
great a start as the Rays had. The Orioles never blink,
and they've been right behind them and then they overtook them.
They just win games with my numbing consistency. They're young,

(29:07):
but sometimes when you're young, you don't feel the pressure.
It's a great mix there. The Orioles are legit, and yeah,
Verlander's gonna go. The thing is, you know where Verlander's
be coming. He's gonna be coming here. The Dodgers. The
Dodgers are gonna make the move they need to make.
The Dodgers need two moves they need they need a

(29:28):
couple of starting pitchers, because right now, what are you
throwing out there after Kershaw hopefully in the same game, right,
it's gonna be a big starting pitcher, and it's gonna
be a big thumper. And if they can't get Ronado,
they will move on to something else because they need
another thumper for that lineup. But the Dodgers will make
it do two big moves tomorrow. Verlander will be one
of them because at the end he's the guy because

(29:48):
they're not gonna get Blake Snell. Right, They're not gonna
trade snellin the division. Verlander's the other guy. They're gonna
have to get them and it's gonna be a big move,
and they'll make a big move for a player as well.
This is what they've been waiting for the Dodgers. We're
hoping this year. We're going to come to the season differently,
not worry about winning one hundred and ten games, but
we're gonna come into this season, save some money for
next time. Week we're at right and then at the deadline,

(30:09):
the moves we need to make, we're gonna make. They've
made a bunch of really nice move so far. But
they've been nice moves, right getting lance Lynn, nice move.
I'm at Rosario for Cindergart. Nice move, right, joke on
nice one. But they have two big ones coming and
that's gonna happen tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
I can see the Padres keeping Blake Snell leading in
the RA and keeping their closer as well, who still
has an e RA under one by the way, but
the Dodgers as we head toward postseason, and we can
talk about postseason not just because they always make it.
It's not the same roster as last year. As you mentioned,
this is not one hundred to one hundred, one hundred
and ten win team. They could still be in the
postseason with this awful pitching staff by Dodger standards. They

(30:48):
are hoping that Kershaw comes back and then sales through
the rest of the regular season. In the playoffs, they
are hoping that Walker Buehler, as he has said not
the team can come back before the end of September
off Tommy John. They are hoping that Julio Arias suddenly
finds himself and becomes a makeable playoff starter. So there's three.

(31:10):
And then what you hope that Bobby Miller, your former
first rounder, can actually give you five great innings at
a playoff game, because three of those four things could
really go sideways for the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Bobby Miller is going to be in that package back
to the Mets for Verlinter. Just watch. Hey, what we
got what's trending right now is do you look you
can have Michael Grove, he is available. We have three
late games in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
The Mariners, not in contention, apparently have taken the lead
on the Red Sox two to one in the top
of the eighth inning. And yes, the Mariners did send
their closer to the Diamondbacks, Paul sewald and from Seattle.
Alfielder aj Pollock goes to the Giants. San Francisco alfielder
mike Y Stremsky went on the inter list with a
strain hamstring. Giants are hosting Arizona. That game is two

(31:54):
to two in the bottom of the eighth. The Padres
at Rockies game had a rain delay and a long
one at the start over two hours, so they're only
in the top of the fourth inning scoreless. San Diego
on the road. There's a chance of rain most days
this week in Colorado. Cincinnati wins again. The Reds are
first in the NL Central game and a half over Milwaukee.
Now Cincinnati won its game at the Cubs six ' five,

(32:15):
and yes, Marcus Strowman is now struggling ten and eight overall.
His era's up to three point eight five. Milwaukee lost
again five to three, Washington over the Brewers. Brewers got
outfielder Mark Kanna from the Mets.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Today.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
By the way, Ellie Dale Cruz for the first place
Reds did go zero for five. But how about this
stet Since he's gotten onto the major league roster with Cincinnati,
they are thirty two and sixteen MVP. They are run
two out of every three games, and they have surged
to first in the division. Meanwhile, Toronto not doing so
well in the division. This's maybe a playoff team via

(32:49):
the wild card in the American League. But the Jays,
against their own division, have a record of seven and
twenty one this year. They lost at home to first
place Baltimore tonight four two Orioles. It was four to
nothing in the third inning. The o' is still a
game and a half up on the Rays. Tampa Bay
won its game five to one at the Yankees. Tyler
glassnow the winning pitchers seven innings, eight strikeouts. Philadelphia started

(33:11):
the night just a half game back for the final
NL wildcard spot. The Phillies won at Miami four to two.
Taiwan Walker, the winning pitcher, is twelve and four. The
Angels hit three solo homers in a four to one
win at Atlanta. The loss to Charlie Morton Braves held
to just four hits, but Matt Olsen did hit one
out his thirty sixth homer for Atlanta. Houston held on

(33:32):
seven to three over Cleveland, and that's it for tonight.
Because the Dodgers are off. They will be hosting the
Oakland A's tomorrow. The A's are off Oakland, the worst
team in the majors thirty and seventy seven. Kansas City
next to worse. They are off tonight. They'll be hosting
the Mets tomorrow, the Royals thirty two and seventy five.
The Royals are on their first three game winning streak

(33:53):
of the year, buddy, So your Mets better watch or
whatever's left of the Mets time George.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Brett playing, I mean, come on, look at what's going
on with you.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
It's a city he may as well be. Actually a reminder.
MLB trade deadline is tomorrow six pm Eastern Time, and
at the Women's World Cup, the US plays late tonight
against Portugal three am Eastern Time on Fox TV pregame
at one am Eastern, while the Netherlands is playing at

(34:20):
the same time on FS one. The Americans must win
or tie tonight to advance out of the Group A
loss to Portugal not only would be a big upset
that would eliminate the US, Australia eliminated Canada this morning
for nothing, and Australia stars Sam Kerr has yet to
play in this tournament. She's missed the first three games
due to a calf injury.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Canada is out. It finished one, one and one. Back

a bunch of big time injuries in the NFL at

(35:33):
training camp. We're wondering, you know, you get online and
you go, oh, I want to check. I don't know
what my team to be trending. And a couple of
big injury notes today. Number one, it all has to
do with running backs, right, guys not getting paid. Both
of Seattle's top running backs are hurt. Now they're they're
holding out. Kenneth Walker, Zach Scharbonay both out. Who knows

(35:53):
when they're coming back. And this is why Seattle needs
like ten running backs. Like every year, no matter who
Seattle has, they all get hurt. It's like the penny thing.
I mean, really, it doesn't matter who they have.

Speaker 6 (36:02):
They have.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
We have eleven running backs. Ten of them are hurt.
We're on our last.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Today they added another one, Sir Roderick Thompson, signed by Settle.
Kurt Warner is next, the other Penn State Kurt heard
the first Kurt Warner. But here's the big one, the
other big one.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Zach Moss of the Colts broke his arm today and
now he's going to be out at least six weeks,
which takes you into the NFL season, and he took
a hit on the first day of ye added I
mean it's I mean, it's a freak. Yeah, everybody else
did no pads last week. This is when padded practices start.
This when everybody gets nervous and he breaks his arm.

(36:39):
He's going to be out the next six weeks at least,
that's no problem. They got Jonathan Taylor practicing tomorrow. Right,
this is what's going to hasten that Jonathan Taylor trade.
And he's going to get dealt because the Colts are
going to sit here and say, is he really going
to come back and play for us? I don't know
how after he had the whole Jim or say we

(37:00):
could be dead tomorrow. I don't know how you come
back to the team after that. When that's when that's
what the owner says about you as a player.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
He also said last night, Or say we are not
trading him now, not in October.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Right. But here's the thing is that Zach Moss when
he played last year was a pretty big revelation for you.
Like when he was good at you tell he was
disappointing with the with the Bills, he could never really
jump in. Then he goes to the Colts and all right,
you know he's not playing and hein's not playing for
the Bills exactly, and he's out for the year. The
Colts have nobody. It's like, we can we can deal
with the Jonathan Taylor thing. We might be able to

(37:33):
get by with Zach Moss. He was good for us
last year. Now you have nobody. This is what's going
to hasten a Jonathan Taylor trade. And it could be
as simple as Hey, Raiders, how about our guy for
your guy? Hey, how about that? Right?

Speaker 3 (37:45):
We have seen that in various sports before our headache
for yours. This sometimes works.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
This is going to make that trade happen even quicker
because the Colts don't want to go into the season
going we have nobody at running back. We have no
because they will. I mean, you're talking about a couple
of guys who are barely and a different starting QB
every year. Yes, and now you're trying to break in
Anthony Richardson and he's gonna play, and he's gonna play
without a really good running back and a good running game. Uhh,
not happening. Taylor's gonna get dealt and they're gonna bring

(38:11):
and it's gonna They're gonna get a running back in return.
If part of the trade for him, like I said,
could be as simple as Josh Jacobs for Jonathan Taylor,
but they will get something that will hasten the trade
because I don't see Taylor coming back and playing after
what's happened. This is not your garden variety. I want
more money. Hey, we love you, but you know this
is this is this. There was no we love you.

(38:31):
This was just if you and I died tomorrow. No, wait,
what what the hell.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
He's still finishing up his rookie contract and there's an
injury of some sort involved. He did go on the
pup list to start camp. The team believes there's also
back pain. He had immediate backlash to that quote, sources
Taylor himself did last night. So then the coaches asked
today and no, no, Taylor's gonna play when he gets
medical clearance. Standing by Twitter, and how about a fresco.

(38:58):
The Jason Smith Show is Teve de Sagarin from Mike Carmen.
Trust me, Taylor is gonna get traded. It's gonna happen
sometime the next couple of weeks. It's going down, coming
up next.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
It's not often we get big time live sporting events
in the middle of the night, but yeah, we break
that down coming up next. Keep it right here, Jason Smith,
Steve Disagarin from Mike Carmen. You are listening to Fox
