Speaker 4 (00:57):
We just experienced halftime in the show, which meant it
be snack time, and it sounded like you were really
munching away on some bougie stuff over here.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Yeah, just some sweet potato chips. I usually don't go
for that stuff, but whatever, my wife has in the house.
I you know, I have to succumb to that.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
So he said, like avocado oil.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
Yeah, avocado oil some like bougie stuff. I'm sure it's
more expensive than the bad stuff too. I'm pretty sure
about that.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Well that's all right.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Yeah, Hey, by the way, times you gotta indulge buddy, exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
I gotta, I gotta, I gotta bring up this Browns game.
I don't think anybody's really I.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Don't think anybody's watching it.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
But go ahead, Yeah, even if you watched it, I
don't think anybody picked up on this other than me.
I may be the only person who is it the
spread that's snow, I'm not getting around. I may be
the only person in the entire world that may have
picked up on this.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Unless I'm wrong, and I'm still trying that.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Eric the Enemy, despite everybody hating him, led them to
a seventeen fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Victory over the Browns.

Speaker 6 (01:58):
No, no, that's come Anders.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Let's let me let me.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Tell you what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
It was seventeen to nine late in the game when
the Browns scored a touchdown to make it seventeen fifteen. Right, yeah,
so obviously they go for two points to tie it up.
They didn't get the two point conversion. There was one
thirty nine I believe left in the game. Ye, So
at that point, what do you do, Mike, one thirty nine.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
Left in the game.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
You have no I don't think they had any timeouts
because they didn't use I looked at the play by play.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
They didn't use any timeouts. So what do you do
at that point in the game.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
If it's an actual regular season game.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
Any game, it doesn't make a difference because you still.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Have to Cleveland had used all their timeouts, okay, so
you still used them.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
With four minutes left in the fourth quarter, they'd use
their thirdie.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Okay, there was one minute and thirty eight seconds left.
You have no timeouts left. So you try to on
site kick, something you want to practice anyway for the
regular season, right, and if you get the ball back,
maybe you can get in the field goal range and
you can win.

Speaker 6 (02:59):
You still try to win.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
They just kick the ball off into the end zone
and let Washington take in me three times and said
that's good enough. We don't we don't care about the
try to do the on side kick and.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Try the Ravens trying to keep a twenty three game winn.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
But Mike, forget about the Mike, don't you think they
at least have the responsibility to at least try to
win the game because it doesn't make an evidence who
you put.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Out the preseason game exhibition?

Speaker 6 (03:28):
Are okay to win the game?

Speaker 5 (03:31):
No, you want to put out twenty two free agents?

Speaker 6 (03:34):
That's Frove.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Do I want him to go do an onside kick with.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Yes, Mike, you have to practice that I can't believe.
So you're saying it's better off than just kicking in
the end zone.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Let's game are playing on our team anyway?

Speaker 5 (03:48):
What kind of mentality is that said for the upcoming
season that we don't want to practice to try to win,
to try to come from behind, to do an on
side kick. By the way, wait, wouldn't it behoove them
to maybe practice one time and on sidekick?

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Are those the guys that are gonna be executing? Said
on sidekick?

Speaker 6 (04:09):
Mike?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Are you I'm asking? I'm just asking you.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Probably not, Mike.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
But still when you no matter who's out there, you
still have the responsibility to It's like it doesn't make
a difference who fills in for you and Jason Smith.

Speaker 6 (04:22):
You're still the responsibility to try to put on a
good show.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah, try, You're not try.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
So you're gonna tell me you have twenty two guys
out there, eleven on offensive, and you don't. You're not
even gonna try to win with with something you should
be practicing.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
Am I not? Somebody off on this that that the
hell with it? Then I'm just gonna kick the ball
and just say good night. I I don't get now.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
If you want to go for two points and you're
down by woman, you don't want overtime, I'm all for that.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
That's still okay. They didn't even try to win.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
They said that, we don't even want to do the
extra the on side, kick the hell with it.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
We've seen enough.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
We just want to go home now that that's what
they said. That's what they were doing.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Okay, Well, well the Browns, uh, let's see, the Browns
were given three. So I mean you're going.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
To do with that is even if they get the
ball and kick a field.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Goal, they only win by one.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
So the under came in though it was thirty eight
and a half.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Right, okay, So it has nothing to do with the
spread or anything like that. I just just amazes me
that even you know the competitive spirit that people have,
that you would just say that we don't want to
go ahead and win it. We don't want to try,
and uh, that's good enough. We we only lost by two.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
You think I'm nuts on this? You think I'm crazy
on this or what?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I have love to hear Stefanski's answer on it, for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
I mean, but I don't, well, yes, and I just
don't know that in an exhibition game, what what the
the end game is there for you? You already had
the game delayed. Guys have been out there, you know
whatever that extra time is. And yes, it's only one more.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
It wasn't going to go to overtime anyway, so you
could at least all you By the way, you have
to admit you want to practice one on side kick
in a regular in a preseason game, right, but are you.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Even using your your first string kicker?

Speaker 6 (06:02):
I don't. I have no idea. Probably not.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
But but again, like if it's not guys that are
all gonna be on the roster to where there's something
really to be gained from it, I forget. The big
loss is the potential injury, which is why they've legislated
so much of this stuff.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Okay, then fine, I'll just say if it isn't the
regular kicker and the regular players, I'll even give you
that mic. Don't you even want to practice to win
no matter who's on the field. Don't you have any pride?

Speaker 7 (06:26):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (06:26):
Why don't have any pride? You come, I have a
little wow.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
I mean, I don't care if it's a preseason game.
Have some pride and the guys on the team they.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Would to win a game. I just don't understand.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
What does it hurt you to just try to recover
it on sidekick?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Sure you're not hoping for an O for seventeen season.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
I'm amazed a whole other thing.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
I don't know how you have that type of attitude
in the middle of a game.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
Preseason not preseason. I mean, that's like you.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
So if I told you there was a friendly soccer
match going on and a team could win it and said, no,
I'm not going to kick it in the goal, let's
just call the game right.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Now, you lose your marbles.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
I really, come on.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Now, there's sports you're competing out there and they third,
and by the way, that's the highest of levels and
they just say the heck with it.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
I just don't get your attitude on this time.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Maybe you're just satisfied with the out output of what
you got and showing a little bit of intestinal fortitude
down the stretch to get that touchdown.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
I think that's just it's a bad example, and it's
a bad precedent for the locker room.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
You think this carries over, No, I say it will.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
I like, I'm am all for a little bit of
hot take nonsense. Don't get me wrong. It's what our
industry is built on. And if I did more of it,
maybe i'd have a couple extra commas to my bank
accounts like some.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
In our business.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yes, and where they you know, there's no way they
believe what they say. In this case, I can't do that.
There was an exhibition game, all right, we went for two,
we didn't get it. Kick it off, I go.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
People would agree with me that at least they should
have tried the on side kick. Then just walk away
and say let's go home. I bet you're like ninety
percent of our.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Own ninety percent at stinking genius wind.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Nobody's gonna say it's an exhibition game.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
They had all left nobody's gonna do.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
They didn't watch it. It's Friday night. They're at a
bargain slashed. So if you're not watching this. So if
I got the team, watch it at four am, wait
with a cup of coffee, trying to shake off their
hangover as it replays at nauseum this weekend.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
If I if I get all the guys together on
the team and gay guys, do you just want to
kick it into the end zone to go home? Or
should we try to win the game? You're gonna tell me.
The guys they're like, go home, go home? Well three
two one can coon?

Speaker 8 (08:48):
No, No, it's the first game of the exhibition season.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
Are anybody who said we just want to go home?
They're the ones getting you get first? I went there,
you go exactly?

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Are you you want to go? You want you want
to go? Do an onside kick? I need you to
be the gunner to go try to take him down.
What do you think you're feeling it? You're gonna get
cut tomorrow anyway, so you might as well go do
this mission.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
What are we doing with you?

Speaker 5 (09:14):
That's what's wrong with us so many people. I mean,
come on, that's just crazy. I I never I was
looking to make sure I go. Maybe they had time outs,
so they were gonna call time out.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
They had no timeouts.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
They just kicked it off and said, man, we don't
care that we're gonna lose.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
We don't give it. Damn. Just amazing, all right, I
guess I'm wrong. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Is everybody back there just thinking I'm completely nuts? Back
at the at the studio.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
They we're all, wait, well, we were all kind of
trending that way last year in the season three of
fifty six on side kicks were successfully recovered.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
And you in the regular seas, yah three and fifty six.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
That's why you need to practice a little bit the
hell out of here.

Speaker 9 (09:54):
That's why now you're just arguing for the sake of
our well you got you were alone watching Law and
Order reruns on your legal said and now you're all
mad about.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
You told me they shouldn't practice it then because it
was only three of fifty s eggs.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
I'm saying, it's not worth the risk of guys injury
or do you care at that?

Speaker 5 (10:16):
That is what they're gonna say this that we didn't
want to get anybody injured. But then again, everybody these
guys are gonna be driving a FedEx truck next week, so.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
What so why send them off with an injury doing that?
How dare you?

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Wow?

Speaker 6 (10:31):
They get heard on it and you're.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Just missing By the way, UPS guys evidently full time
with some tenure can make upwards one hundred and seventy I.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Saw that that would have been my career choice had
I not got in the radio.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
I saw that that's pretty good money.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Well, it's never too late.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
You gotta drive, but you can't used it to go
see your buddy Ben Mallard.

Speaker 6 (10:51):
You know you can't make a left turn when you're
a UPS driver?

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Makes sense?

Speaker 6 (10:55):
No, I'm serious. They don't allow you to make left turns. Okay,
you think I'm kidding you. I'm not bad. That's not
a joke that that's like part of their rule is.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Like is that supposed to impress me? And like what what?
What are you trying to get at?

Speaker 6 (11:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I just like random bac joy of UPS drivers.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Even Disager's laughing, He's like, what the he does he do.

Speaker 6 (11:15):
With the facts. I should know that. I know that's
what it is.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
That's what's random things.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
But yes, five percent of onside kicks were recovered successfully
last year first game of an exhibition season. I think
you saw what you needed to out of Thompson Robinson.
We've talked about him a lot in their first couple
exhibition games. Kind of interesting. We joked about it, Steve
and Jason and I. Last week he was finally out

(11:40):
of eligibility at UCLA, so he had to move on
to the NFL. So far, he's acquitted himself quite nicely.
Short night for Deshaun Watson. Thompson Robinson looking pretty good
now he did.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
I was kind of curious to see what he was
going to do this year, where he was going to
be drafted, and if he was going to go ahead
and be able to stick with a team.

Speaker 6 (11:58):
I like him. I think he's gonna end up be
like a second third Strigger.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
To be honest, I kind of dig him.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
He's a guy to keep an eye on as the
stuff unfolds as it flows. Deshaun Watson a lot of
people expecting to return to the form he had in
the Planet Houston years ago.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Another guy that was on full display. Everybody waiting.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
The poison pens were out as the Packers took the field.

Speaker 10 (12:20):
Love takes fakes the handoff to Dylan past time lofts
left side of the end zone, tops before we go home.
Touch job Romeo Tobbs left side of the end zone,
made the playoff.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Shidney Jones him up.

Speaker 10 (12:34):
Packers on the board, nine yard touchdown pass six stuff
in Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Packers Radio Network on the call.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
The great voice of Wayne Larravie, once upon a time
worked for the Bears, then went to the Packers. Jordan
Love seven to ten, forty six yards and that touchdown
pass Romeo Dobbs, a guy who came on pretty nicely
down the stretch last season with Aaron Rodgers. You've got him,
You've got Watson, You've got a couple playmakers for you
not to mention those guys in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
A lot made on Jordan Love.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
He made a terrible throw on a third down play
their first possession, so the the Boo Birds and the
poison Pens were out going.

Speaker 8 (13:11):
See see he can't play, he's not ready.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
A little bit of penalty help and field position. Next
drive results in a touchdown, a nice lob perfectly into
the spot for Dobbs to come down with it.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Uh, Jordan Love.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
I think this team is actually equipped to be dangerous
in the NFC.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
What's dangerous overall?

Speaker 3 (13:32):
So if you get it, if you get in, you
got a puncher's chance because.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Right now, look, I give him an incomplete grade on
this seven at tim but he didn't throw the ball
downfield very much, didn't have any interceptions, but did have
the one touchdown.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
Obviously, we're gonna see a lot more of him, but.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
We're or at least at least when the regular season
gets around.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
That's we're gonna have to really judge him on.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
I told you I already put Sean Clifford in my
preseason Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Look at you.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
He looked fantastic. But as for Jordan Lovell, ye, how
it ends up with him, I'm not buying it to
a show tonight.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
I know.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
If you have to ask me tonight, is he going
to be a boom or is he going to be
a bust for the upcoming twenty twenty three season, I'm
gonna say a bust on Jordan love I don't think
there's enough there for me to be afraid of and
and say that he's he's gonna be a fantastic player.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
I don't think he's a top ten quarterback.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
I would say more of a bust than a boom
for the upcoming season.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
Well, I don't need to jump him to the top
ten right away, particularly statistically, because with Jones and Dylan healthy,
you're gonna have a nice balance run pass. I think
he's a guy that can make and a team that
can make some noise. That defense will perform better this year.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
I think they underperformed so balance division though. I mean,
I don't know, but that's the point.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Nobody's run away and heiden last.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
The Bears are gonna be last. You know that though
it's already.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
But Justic Field is one of the top guys with
MV to.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Put that in his update, I think he said, then
the Bears finished in the last place.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
I have to double check that.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
I didn't hear the fake news. Okay, Steve de Seger
is not one to give me fair news. I expect
that coming out of you, Artie. Steve is a man
of integrity.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
It's not gonna be the Lions.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
He's gonna give me Keenan Allen's stats for days. I
saw that book he's carrying around. It just says k
Allen on it as he gets ready for Tomorrow's game
against the Rams. Already span your in for Jason Smith.
I'm Mike Carvin. Coming up next, our buddy Todd Furman's
gonna join us form Vegas. We'll sort out some of
the odds going into the season and what to make
