protection and over ten thousand recommended installers tirack dot com
the way tire buying should be. Now, I say this
to you, Mike Carmen. Yeah, we could have a nice
discussion football impact of certain moves today of Dalvin Cook
signing with the Jets and what it means and Breisee
Hall get into a lot of different angles of at
the fantasy angles what it means going forward Aaron Rodgers.

(01:17):
Or for four hours, I could just go super Bowl,
super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl.
You just have to put in a melody and stick
with what do you like? Super Bowl super Bowl. I
could sing super Bowl, super Bowl, any tears for fear
songs you want to. I think if you want to
just keep doing that for four hour super Bowl super Bowl,
you'll run out of breath and you'll be done. I
don't know, man, but I could do the in depth

(01:38):
analysis super Bowls and run around as you just dance
like you're one of those wind up monkeys clapping symbols
super Bowl super Bowl, because that's kind of what I'm
feeling here.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Like that's the vibe, like the beginning of fanom of
the opera, this masterade painted faces on parade, super Bowl,
super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
I saw it come through my timeline, the Dalvin Cook signing,
moments after Ezekiel Elliott got his from the Patriots. Like wow,
what a reactionary move. They're afraid of Zeke going to
the Patriots. But it came through and I let out
an audible explotive.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
I let the exploitives fly saying here we go again,
super all these times, no nice things for you. Every
time you think it's got a giant bow on it,
inside the box is an empty plate.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
No, no, no, see this is where his time. That's time.
But this time it counts at least for the moment
I would.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
There's a lot of big things to get to with this,
a lot of and obviously Dalvin Cook signing a one
year deal with the Jets, there's a lot to get
to on this. But I will say this for even
you know, the old broken clock is right twice a
day kind of things. Oh yeah, every fifty years things
go the Jets. And maybe not for fifty years after,

(03:03):
but for fifty every fifty years, eh.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
And it's not an exact thing.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
It's like, you know, it's like when people try to say, oh,
Notre Dame's predicted this.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Really he did. I was off.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
He was off by a little bit, and I was
off by a little I was off by a few centuries.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Sorry, it's a rounding era, yeah, because he lived a
long time ago.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
No sure, but every so, you know, every fifty years
it happens for the Jets, and this is that time.
It's like seeing Helly's comet. Like Heley's comic came around
when I was when you or I were kids, And
now I'm like seventy six years, seventy six, well, seventy six.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Well, like I went out to the desert last night.
I had big clear skies. You got meteor showers, all
this stuff. Peyote, sure, some folks. Yeah, I have a
fun out there.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
I'm like harming. Man, you called me last night. I'm line,
is that a coyote? I like? The color is that high?
That's just a guy who had some good stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Look at the colors in the sky and blue and
green and white and the jets and he's awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Man, Why is that one really bright looking like it's
coming at me?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Hey, I think that's Harry's patroness. Man, that looks like
that looks like a dome.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
Man.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
I go from seeing stars and then all of a
sudden you add another one.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Just seems weird.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Every fifty or so years, it works out. And this
is that time for the Jets. So okay, so okay,
all right, this is the fifth this is everything. Now
the next fifty years is gonna be wof.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
I gotta stop. I still have to play this season.
Here's the problem.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
I mean, you are champions of an offseason. If you're
Jim Mercy, there's a banner going up right now.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
They may cancel the games. They may not need the games.
Just have the super Bowl. Just wait four months to
the super Bowl? Aaron Rodgers the Jets. How will it work?
They'll get Breese Hall back. What will the work division,
labor division be with.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
That?

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Jets Jets, Jets, Jets, But you still have that schedule
to navigate.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Doesn't matter that division is so we got Dalvin Cook.
Doesn't matter. But I'm glad you brought that up. I'm
glad you brought that up because there are some big
takeaways from this and this is this is this is
number one. Yeah, this is Why did the Jets get
Dalvin Cook? Why did it happen? Why is this such
a big move? Why am I saying super Bowl? I mean,
I wouldn't be doing this with the Jet sign Ezekiellen,
I'd be going you were already.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Saying super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl. Yeah, so I
just could see anything else was additive. But even if
it was Ezekiel Elliott, you might have gone, but you
would have still been yelling super Bowl, maybe a little
more hushed super Bowl, super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Why is this a great move?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Why? Why does this work so well? Why is this
a super Bowl type move? Because the Jets stared into
the abyss and after this weekend in which they dominated
the Carolina Panthers, their second string defensive line dominated the
entire first half against the PA I mean, this Jets
defense is going to be a monster. And I'm sure
the Jets sat back and said, Okay, what's our disaster

(05:54):
scenario early on in the season? What what what could be?
So what's our disaster scenario? And you could point to
a lot of things. Well, we give up a lot
of points defensively, Well, if that happens, it happens, because
what else are you gonna do. You built one of
the best defenses in the NFL, You have a great
defensive line, you have a great secondary. The defense is great.
What's going to happen offensively? Well, we got Rogers, right,

(06:14):
we got the wide receivers he wants right. Our offensive line,
we're figuring out who our tackles are going to be.
But the interior of the line is really good. Okay, right,
but yeah, you ran the ball. Well, you know, the
quarterback stays upright, Everything is fine. What's the one thing.
What's the one thing is I could see the Jets
and here's your disaster scenario. I did the Jets starting

(06:36):
out two and three, two and four, and they're not
scoring points and why because bris Hall isn't quite back
yet or he's not back at all, and the Jets
struggle running the football because look, Michael Carter's are really
good number two running back, but they gave him the
chance to be the one last year he couldn't get
it done.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Right.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
You're talking about Zonovan Knight, who has been the guy
running is the number one running back with the Jets.
This game hasn't been Michael Carter. It's been Zonoa Knight,
who play a little bit. Last year they drafted Ubon
a Conde in the fourth round.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
He's interesting.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
But that's what the Jets saw. We go into this
season if we can't run the football and teams are
able to load up on us with the pass and
we just can't score enough and we lose games. We're
losing games sixteen thirteen, We're losing twenty to sixteen thirteen ten.
Because we just can't. There's no separation. Teams are laying back.

(07:29):
That's the disaster scenario for the Jets. Why because we
can't run the football? And what would happen in New
York and national media? It would mushroom. How do the
Jets not take care of the running back position? How
do you not see this coming? How do you not
see that if Breis Hall isn't ready to go, that
you're gonna go into the season thinking this is going
to work. That Michael Carter and a guy you drafted

(07:50):
in the fourth round and Zonovan Knight, this is gonna
be your running back situation. And suddenly it looks like
the Jets had no planning. They were thinking, we're just
gonna go and throw the football seventy five a game.
That's the disaster scenario. So what they said was, you
know what, let's solve this. There's not another offensive tackle
out there that we can go get that's gonna come

(08:10):
and help us on the offensive line. We have the
money to spend, so let's go get Dalvin Cook for
one year. And now when Breese Hall does come back,
we don't have to give him the ball twenty times
a game. He can work himself back in. Dalvin Cook
is a workhorse back. He can play all three downs.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
You still have.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Carter can play on on passing down to you know,
he had a really good game on Saturday catching the
ball to the backfield. So what they did was say,
that's our disaster scenario. How do we how do we
fix that. Let's go get Dalvin Cook. Now the Jets
have no weaknesses. Yes, you have certain parts positions, where are.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
They as good?

Speaker 1 (08:42):
But they have no weaknesses now and they've they've guarded
against what could be the worst thing that could befall them,
and now they have fixed it. So that's why super bo,
sup per bo, supermo super bo.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
Well, I mean, it's something we talked about a while ago.
When Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Redid his deal right and cleared up some some cash
and gave them some space and opportunity to move. It's
like it seemed to foretell that this was going to happen,
just a matter of when and what the dollars, dollars
and cents needed to be and when Dalvin Cook wanted
to go back to work.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
August fourteenth, this is the day everybody wanted to go
back to It's back to Work Day. You didn't know
that National back to Work Day? I didn't even look up?
What what?

Speaker 6 (09:22):
What?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
I think?

Speaker 6 (09:24):
No?

Speaker 5 (09:24):
I think it's like I actually read what it might
have been? It might have been.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
I always say National Donut Day because I always say
that when I pick Zoey up from school. Hey, you
know today's National Donut Day?

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Really? Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Get out, let's go get a donor. Yeah, no, that's
not a bad move. Yeah, it's all and she goes dad.
Isn't that like the third time it's National Donut Day
this month?

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Yes? National?

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Don't just run with it? So today is something? But no,
today was something that financial awareness?

Speaker 5 (09:45):
No? Really what a bomb? Creamsicle Day?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
I might have been creamsicle Day, Tattoo removal day? Why today? Though?
Now you want to wait till today? I want to
get that tattoo off.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
The World Lizard Day? How about that the lizard? There's
got to be nothing else better than that. Have a
creamsicle story ones in here and love your bookshop.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
No, no, no, let's go with Creamsicle Day because anytime
you can talk about a dessert and throw it in there.
I like that Okay, that's good. So it's Creamsicle or
Tampa Bay Buck Jersey's Day.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Also Navajo code Talker's Day.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Oh so Nick Cage is he doing a bit? But
what was the movie he is in? Wind Talkers?

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
So I mean, but Zeke Elliott gets signed, Sure your
guy Dalvin joins the Jets. Sure Zach Martin finally realizes
there's no recourse for him, so he signs a new
deal with the Cowboys. Everybody's back. We get the word
that Jonathan Taylor, he's at least gonna show up. It's
not gonna play practice or do anything else unless but

(10:44):
that's a whole other thing. But I mean for today,
I mean, it is a celebration for you if you
had won another day in the off season. But it
was foretold by Aaron Rodgers and the contract manipulation that
they did a little while ago, that they were ready
for another big move.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
And here it is, doubt. Are you ready to come
to work? Let me ask you this.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
We we spend a lot of time debating greatest teams
of all time? Right, is the greatest NFL team of
all time? Is it the eighty five Bear?

Speaker 5 (11:14):
Right?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Is it the two thousand rates, right, is it one
of Tom Brady's? Uh, it's better.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Than I So that's done. So I debate that.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Now, I ask you, this is the twenty twenty three
Jets off season the best off season team ever? Are
we the best team of the off season ever?

Speaker 5 (11:33):
The only other.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Team I could think of it. I'd have to actually
look up the year because I don't know what offhand.
But remember when Washington signed all those guys that would
end up going into the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Oh, that was pretty good, right, But on paper it's
when the Lakers brought in Malone and everything's like whoa.
But we didn't have the attention that this did. It's
twenty years later. Yeah, if all those guys including Dion
are going there then.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
But the hype, the hype is so big. The hype
is much bigger now than saw Chicago. You could sign
a Bud the glitter suit and he was Billy He's
a Broadway guy. Aaron Rodgers a Broadway could be Billy Flynn.
He could be Billy Flynn. They're Pop six Squits, Oh,
Cicero Rogers, Pop six Squitch, Oh Rogers best off season

(12:21):
team of all time?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
We'll have to go through the history, and they go
through and try to figure out if there's another time.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
I don't think there is it.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I don't think in terms of hype, expectations and the
potential for it to implode so horribly.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Yeah, yeah, all those things are true. Look at the Jets.
All those things are true.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Because it's not like, Wow, they did a lot of
cool stuff. Let's see what happens. No super Bowl or bust.
If he doesn't win it, it's bust.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Doesn't matter. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
I mean, he's like James Harden in the playoffs. So
I mean, let's see what happened. I may just need
this best off season team of all. We don't need
need the games. Yeah, but we won the off season.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
I mean you've got a stay one hundred.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Should we just I won the offseason? Should I make
that for it? Twenty twenty three off season champions?

Speaker 6 (13:05):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Eleanor designed that with the I like the raised lettering,

What's happening, Bud?

Speaker 6 (15:25):
What's going on? Gentlemen?

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Nights?

Speaker 1 (15:27):
So I want to hit you with a really big
statement here. I want to hit you really give me,
give me your give me your thoughts. Here. The Jets
get Dalvin Cook today. Eighty five Bears greatest NFL team
of all time, twenty three Jets greatest offseason NFL team
of all time?

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Gosh, I don't, is it? I don't. I'm trying to think.
Remember the Eagles dream team with Nondos and all those guys,
was remembers coming out of the lockout. It was like, yeah,
he's a ADM. Dude after dude after dude. I mean,
obviously there was the our Skins teams, like even my

(16:07):
first year on the beat. There they went and got Brunel,
they got Clinton, made the terrible Clinton portous trade and
you know, brought in London Fletcher brought in a ton
of guys. Yeah, I mean, there's there's something to be
said though for a lot of those offseason dream teams

(16:33):
that's a usually workout.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
But I'll say this though, it's it's like, you know,
the Jets are looking and saying, hey, what's the one
thing that could derail us early on? What if we
can't run the football and suddenly we can't throw the
football as much as we want. We're relying on Breis
Hall a lot to come back and be informan who
knows if he's even ready for weekend. We don't have
the guys behind it. That was the last weakness and
the Jets saw their last weekness with Dalvin Cook today.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
Yeah, I mean again, we'll see. I mean, he's been
out on the street for a while, right, and nobody
was coming close to this, and I mean it looks
like it's a solid seven million, which is surprising. It
smells to me, and maybe we'll find out, probably not
on tomorrow's hard knocks, but maybe the week after. You know,

(17:20):
this smells to me like one where you know, the
QB slash OC slash HC slash GM went to the
actual GM and said, hey, I'm not loving what I'm
saying here, Or why haven't we brought in Dalvin Cooked yet?
Or he just skipped all those guys. He just went
straight to Woody, which would be great. I'm picturing him

(17:42):
at a diner with Woody, you know, like what was
the legendary was it at Tanemom and revis or whatever? Right?
Like when they ended that old out in a diner
somewhere on the original Jets Hard knocks Y. Yeah, I
think I was up in they were still in what
the heck is the school like an hour from Ecuse
there where they would have the training Canctland Courtland, Yeah, yes,

(18:04):
Courtland and Sanchez would have the room above that one
bar that everybody went to rent it out from Solf.
Those were the days. Again, I'm a skeptic on this
whole thing. I just it smells like Woody and the
quarterback cooking a lot of stuff up and we'll find out.

(18:25):
I'm more interested in their tackles, you know what I mean,
like as Dwayne Brown turning back the hands of time
and who's the right tackle? Is it this Max Mitchell character?
You know, are we going to try to really kind
of are we going to are we propagating this Makai
Breck and things so like that. That's what I'm looking at.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Well.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Speaking of August fourteenth being National Sign of Contract go
to workday, Ezekiel Elliott back in the league with the
New England Patriots. I still had a beermark to show
back up in Dallas, but now he's part of the
Belichick house of guys that had run or May have
had a good run. What do you the tank here.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
I mean, he'll be you know, like he'll be a
fine football player. You know, he'll be nosey in past protection.
And I understand, like you know, he's I mean, this
is just such quintessential Belichick, right. I mean, he doesn't
want anybody who's like too twitchy or too amped up
or you know what I mean, or like who's too
physically gifted. That's not He's not into that, Like he

(19:25):
wants horses. So that's just a I totally get it.
I guess.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
I mean, well, the past protection is big.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
If you're actually gonna keep mac Jones up right and
yeah and make him achieve at any level.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
I guess that that that's a bonus.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
Sure, Yeah, I don't know, guys, I just you kind
of need football players, you know, especially now that they
don't have that that TB twelve guy at quarterback anymore.
I think it's a really it actually reminds me of
like some of the stuff that the Ravens did accept
in recent years, except you know, they had this freakazoi

(20:01):
that quarterback who could just make a play himself if
everything broke down, Like they don't like if you wanted
to go this route, but you had adjusted fields of
Lamar Jackson, you know, Jalen hurts like like, okay, may
like maybe I still wouldn't like it, but I'd be like, oh, okay,
maybe maybe because you've got to use an extra defender

(20:22):
to defend the quarterback at all times, and you know
he can just make stuff happen off script. But that's
not mac Jones at all. And I just look at
their depth chart. I'm just not buying it on offense
at all. And it's like, if you know what Bill
O'Brien is this maestro, like please stop, no, no, you

(20:45):
need players, you need players. I'm not buying their offense whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I think I think Belichick's coaching for his future in
New England this year, because if they have another bad year,
you already know that him and Craft are not on
the same page, and Craft is getting Nancy. If they
have another bad season, you're gonna expect you're gonna see
a hey, a joint decision, Belichick stepping away, We're moving on,
because since he's been the cook and since TB twelve
is gone, they have not been good, and all his

(21:15):
personnel decisions have been questionable. They'll find eleven tight ends
and none of it's working out now. And you're saying,
so I think this is a huge year for him.

Speaker 6 (21:23):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know ultimately what Robert Kraft's
stomach is for that, you know, like it's I think
he loves to hear himself talk and he likes to
talk tough. But I don't know that he really wants
to go to war with Bill Belichick, you know, and
and start completely over at this stage. I mean maybe,

(21:44):
I guess, you know, look, how bad is this season?
You know, are they a six win team or they like,
does the does the bottom fall out? I mean, I
think they're gonna be one of the toughest watches in
the league offensively, I do, And I think the defense
will be a good We'll think it's going to be
great or you know, certainly not transcendent. So yeah, I

(22:07):
you know, does Belichick, I mean, does does Craft try
to kick them upstairs and say, hey, you can stick
around as you know what I mean a footballs are
but you're not gonna you know, you're not gonna have
full say over the roster anymore. You're not going to
be the coach. And then there's just that whole shool thing,
which again I know that Kraft poo pooed it, you
know when asked about it in the offseason, but.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
You know, there's a lot of history there. I think
it's Look, I think it's obviously a big year for
Bill Belichick. I think they're going to be an afterthought
for the most part in the AFC. They'll play competitive games,
but I don't think they're going to be a playoff
team by any stretch. How close they are to that
threshold though, and guessing and how is the arrow and

(22:53):
in Craft's mind still pointing up in January. I can't
answer that now. But Bill Belichick the GM to me,
continues to do no favors to Bill Belichick the head coach.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
All right, Jane, now now tell me the truth here,
because I know your nerves must have been at the
highest level when the Eagles went for two near the end.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Of the game.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
Oh my god, I mean, I for twenty five is alive?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
You god?

Speaker 6 (23:18):
I mean idea this city, I mean, you would think
what the oriole's doing, what they're doing, that that would
capture people's attention. But I was worried about civil unrest.
You know, I was worried about the poor Orioles feeling
neglected because everybody. Thank god the O's were on the

(23:38):
West coast, because you could double dimp and you could
watch the Ravens survive and the streak live on and
you'd probably only have missed you know, a few coal
IRVN pitches into that outing in Seattle. I'll say this like,
that's Bray got up to six and a half midweek,
and I was pounding the Eagles because it just makes

(23:59):
sense to me in a preseason game that you're gonna
tell me the Ravens are touchdown better than these guys.
And every other spread was like two and a half
or three, and this one's sticking out there. And at
one point I was like plus two h five Eagles
on the money line, which if Elliott makes a field goal,
you know they do in that thing. But crazy stuff happens.
Now they got the Commanders on Monday Night football. I

(24:19):
don't know what to do with that one. I mean,
you know, they to be selling T shirts at least.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Drive for twenty five.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
I mean, this is the greatest arguably we've had some streaks.
You know in Baltimore, I mean, cal Ripken leaps to mind,
but I just think this is infinitely more impressive. I mean,
this is probably this this streak will go down as
the greatest in Baltimore sports history, undoubtedly. You know, Johnny,
you had the consecutive games with a touchdown record forever, like,

(24:48):
none of that matters.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Twenty five Tucker.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
For sixty yeah, and the other guy missing chip shots
and the football gods love Marball. In August.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
In August, there we go, Jason Locketbora with us here
Jason Smith Schell would like armin Fox Sports Radio from
the Tirac dot Com studios. All right, Jason, we watched
a lot of young quarterbacks, first time quarterbacks. This workout,
Trey Lancer, Jordan Love pick him.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
Oh, you know, this Tree Lance thing is just I
don't know what that was. I don't know if Shanahan
was like, hey, I'm a film in the deepense, We're
gonna do nothing but throw the ball, you know what
I mean, and just try to learn a whole lot
about him in a little period of time. It is
tough watch and I don't know, I don't know about

(25:42):
keeping him around. But I also don't know what the
hell you're gonna get for him in trade. I think
they look, they would have loved to unloaded him six
months ago, the injury and everything else. It's just I
don't know what you can get for him. But it
seems to be all about party there, and I don't
know that this kid. And they're talking about Donald, you
know what I mean, Like the Jets were talking about
him one after they took him originally, So I think,

(26:06):
I don't know. I kind of feel like Shanny's kind
of already got Trey Lances Goose cooked there. And look,
I thought that the packers would do what they had
to do to try to pull on a little bit
of show there, and you know, do some things offensively
given that they're trying to get out of the shadow
of Aaron Rodgers. So we'll see. I mean, I don't

(26:28):
care about Jordan Love, you know what I mean, until
we get into October November, the thick of this season.
Let's see what it looks like then.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Hey, Jay, obviously ill I want to get your take
on this.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
We got the story before the show started, Alex Collins
dying at the age of twenty eight. I mean, the
just shocking story. He had a couple of really good
years there in Baltimore. Did you go through did you
cover him at all? And anything I remember from him there?

Speaker 6 (26:52):
No, I mean, he was a guy who guessed people
would sort of congregate to his locker and definitely spoke
to him in a few different open locker room situations.
Seemed to be incredibly full of life. You know, a
guy who kind of came out of nowhere to I
mean basically beated to twenty seventeen Raven's offense. I mean,

(27:15):
he was at time sort of a one man army.
Is that you know, Flaco thing was starting to wind
down and this is obviously pre Lamar and then you know,
I know went on to Seattle for a while, but
the Irish jig and all that. You know, he did
some really cool things in the community here for kids,
and just I mean, twenty eight, my goodness, just just

(27:38):
absolutely horrible, and someone who seemingly was full of life
every time I saw him, and just people who covered
him up thought texted with the night who knew him
better than I did. It's just it's shocking and sad,
and my heart goes out to those who knew him.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Well on Twitter at Jason Lock and for Washington Post Odyssey.
Jay as always appreciated. Thanks so much. We'll talk to
you next week. I have a great one.

Speaker 6 (28:06):
You got it, gentlemen, Thank you, Thanks.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Jason all right, Jason Lock, and for remembering Alex Collins
and familiar to a lot of football fans that those
couple of years at twenty seventeen year, everybody who plays
fantasy remembers Alex Collins, that big year he had coming
in and you hear so many great things being said
about him after from his agent, from people who covered him,
from his friends, from people who had him in the league.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Just an absolute shame. Twenty eight years just awful.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Anytime you see names pop up in the news and
you your mind immediately drifts to the worst, right, and
this you know Alex Collins, Like all right, you're thinking
it back to his career, all right, Baltimore, Seattle, and
you're connecting the dots and then you confirm you know
those details, and your heart sinks, right, and you think

(28:52):
about your kids, You think about you know, people that
you know, and certainly all our friends.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Out in Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
I thought about Lock and for all the guys that
covered those teams and what a big role he played
and from all accounts, as Jason just laid out, you
know one of those guys that captivated a room and
could take over a room and make you and bring
you in so good thoughts to everybody you knew them.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Alex Collins Rest in peace, twenty eight years old. Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmen Live from the Tire rec
dot Com Studios. We have more NFL on the way.
We got to get to a huge story today from
the NFL. But coming up next, pretty big news in
the NBA. You thought a superstar was going to be
available for trade. Well the GM said no. Now the

(29:38):
superstar says, you're a liar. Oh do we got something
for you? Coming up next? Right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
He's Mike Carmen.

Slash Match. We have more NFL coming up, but big

(30:53):
basketball news today. You thought James Harden was going to
continue to be a Philadelphia seventy six or well, why not?
GM Daryl Morey said over the weekend, Hey, I tried,
I couldn't trade James Harden. We look forward to having
James Harden at camp with us for this season. Well,
enter James Harden. The disgruntled James Harden, which is now

(31:16):
at the beginning of his name now.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
He was in China doing a media event for Adidas.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
James Harden was when he got his basketball camp was
there and he got the news that Daryl Mory said, Hey,
we can't trade James Harden.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
He's coming to camp with us. This is James.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Harden from the media event saying, hey, you know what
I'm going to address this. Listen to what he said.
If you can't hear it the first time, it's okay
because he says the exact same thing twice.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Murray, he is a.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Liar and I would never be a part of an
organization days Morton, He said again.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Daryl Moorey is a liar.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
I mean I would never be a part of an
organization's part.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Daryl Moury is a liar, and I will never be
a part of an organization that he's a part of. So,
I don't know, maybe this is a hot take. I
don't think James.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Harden's going to play for the Sixers this year. Well, remember,
and you're also playing to the crowd, Daryl Moury.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
When they pulled all the Rockets games off of Chinese
television and everything based on tweets that he put up. So,
I mean, you've got an audience there that you know
that you're speaking directly to folks that are going to
be on your side.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
You're getting that's true, they will be. But in the
end he's got to come back to the United States.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
And play right, Yeah, of course, but yeah, he also
looks like, yeah, it hasn't hit the gym.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
No, but this is skip leg day a few times.
But James Harden knows what so few athletes do. Some
of them are starting to figure it out a little
bit now, but Harden knows. When you want out, you
have to go nuclear. Yeah, just you have to choose
the nuclear option. You can't hope that, Hey, behind closed doors,
if I say I want to trade, my team will

(33:00):
trade me, because they're just gonna say, no, we're not
trading a superstar if we don't have to, we're gonna
say we're trying to do it, but we can't. And
so many players refuse to go nuclear.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
Right.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Why did the Aaron Rodgers saga take two and a
half years because Rogers wouldn't say I want out right. Finally,
it was my intention is to play with the New
York Jets and what happened after that? The trade happened, right,
Damian Lillard. For years, it's been, oh, maybe Dame wants out.
We haven't really heard fromhim, but people who are close
to Damian Lillard who said that maybe he might want out.
Finally it was I want out. And now okay, now

(33:32):
we have the summer of them making a trade. But
Lillard's gonna have to go nuclear again because nothing has happened,
so he's gonna have to really press that button to go.
I will never play for the Blazers again. What did
James Harden do with the Rockets? Right? I want out?
This situation is untenable. I want out. Two days later,
he was traded. I like these guys, but I'm not
gonna win either. Was his thing. He knows here he

(33:52):
is now again, I want out. Well, we're trying to
do well. We can't trade you. I will never play
for this team again. Guess what, Now he's gonna get traded.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
It sucks because.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
I hate that stars can do that and get to
a position where it's oh, if I just say I
want out, I gotta But this is how it worked.
It's the only way it works. You have to be
okay being the bad guy. And so many I say
it all the time, so many stars are so image
conscious that they don't want to be the bad guy.
But Harden's made enough money, He's done everything. Look, I
don't care what I say at this point. Yeah, I
want I don't care if people say they hate me.

(34:24):
I want out of here. I want someplace else. I
want to go to the Clippers. They're gonna love me.
You have to go.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
That's how you do it. The only way out is
to do it Harden. Today, we'll just go.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Back to the decision and everything that fell out of that, right,
Dwayne Wade, who goes into the Naysmith Hall of Fame
this weekend as part of a big class we celebrate
all their accomplishments and different milestones in their careers and everything.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Remember when that went down, they were not okay. Wreck.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
They had no idea how to read a room, that
this was going to be an upsetting thing for a
lot of people, not just owners that players were taking control,
but fans that suddenly like, oh wait, it's really changed now.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
And he didn't handle it well. Lebron didn't handle it well.
It was the one part of the decision I didn't like,
you want to hang out with Jim Gray, have at it,
you want to.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
You know all of those things.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
You know he either watched or you didn't watch iman,
whatever the case may be. But you know the fact
that they then bristled that well, you know they people
didn't like what we did. Well, yeah, you got to
get over it and get past it. And for James Harden,
so one thing I have to appreciate that that he
did that. Now, the other thing I appreciate is he
also put their feet to the fire by opting in

(35:34):
on a thirty six million dollar contract. So it's like,
all right, now, it makes him really difficult to trade.
But he also could have then picked whatever he wanted
it like, so he picked the bag and is still
saying get me out. So the Sixers have the worst
of both worlds. They've got to figure out some way

(35:54):
to divvy up that deal, how much they have to.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Eat and be okay with not getting He's not a star.
I'm sorry, you can't trade him. If you think James
Harden still and this is Daryl Mory, dude, you can
get something for him.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
You're not gonna get a lot because you know what,
James Harden's kind of just a guy.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
Well, everybody watched the playoffs, and they have watched James
Harden in the playoffs year after year, and he's not
putting asses in seats anymore. This is at James Harden
six years ago of Okay, what kind of crazy stats
and box score am I getting tonight?

Speaker 5 (36:24):
He's a jag.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
This is why they can't trade him, because they still
treat him as it's James hard again. You can't look
at the back of a guy's basketball card and think
he's still a star.

Speaker 6 (36:32):
He's not.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
You're gonna get what you're gonna get. You gotta be
okay with getting less. And now the Sixers okay, because
now we're either not gonna have him or we'll have
something else. No, they'll make that most snucks not still
not happening. Not happening. We're gonna get him beat instead. Next,
we're gonna get em beating.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Get out of.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Pie a Dog with James Harden, Twitter and out about
