to start off zero week with wolf moother zero week
in Wolfmother. I think that's it should be a movie.

(00:52):
Turn it on zero Weekwolfmother.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
If nothing else, it's a merger of a great band. Yeah,
there's got to be a week zero hour up there somewhere.
I think there is a week as in w E
a K or week as in well calendar.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Do you think there's it's more? You think there's a
zero period out there. There's a band zero period there
has to be okay, much like all of the classes
you never showed up for. No, no, no, I went
to zero period I had I unfortunately, No no, I
unfortunately had zero period a couple of times in high
school and I had to go. I hated it, didn't
like it, but I went and I realized it. And

(01:29):
that's when I realized, Oh, when I go to college,
I can pick my Uh, I can pick my my
time for class. Yeah, I'm not taking eight thirty classes.
I'm not taking eight o'clock class. No, I don't want
I don't want anything that starts before ten thirty. But
the time was it by the time it was a senior,
I said, yeah, I don't want anything that starts before lunch.
I want to wake up, go to lunch, and then
go to class. That's kind of what I want to do.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah. Madeline, my uh sophomore for the uninitiated here as
we were in for Cavino and Rich this afternoon, she's
got a zero period this year. UH, and she just
texted me at lunch just saying, Hey, by time you
get home, I'll be asleep. This zero period.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
She's in week two this Friday.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Last Wednesday, they started last Wednesday, She's already like, yeah,
I'm done.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I'm picking okay, well between.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
That evening soccer practices and all of this stuff that
rolls up, but she's just like, yeah, I'm done with
the week. Da.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
I'll say, look, zero week college football way more fun
than zero period, way, no question about it, Way more fun.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Zero.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I love zero week. We should have. You know, how
long are we to a pre zero week or absolutely
zero week game?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
You know, yeah, it's no longer a kickoff classic, but
it's pre zero yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, Like like we get like the the Dublin game
is was last weekend, and then this week is zero week,
and then next week is week one, the sub zero
subs oh there you go, there you go. I like that,
the negative integer week weekend, That's what it would be.
But eventually we're gonna get We're gonna get the one
big kickoff game, and then the following week is zero week,

(03:02):
and then we move on.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
From there as a community. And I mean that wrapping
my arms lovingly around everybody associated with college athletics, particularly
you with no power unc double A. I see you
still out there. How has this not been done? When
we have money grab after money grab where it's not
just isolated on its own on a Wednesday night. I mean,

(03:25):
we had two preseason games last night in the NFL,
and we had a CFL game that you and I celebrated.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Oh you're on FOSS Sports Radio. I mean that was fun.
Best team in the CFL.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I too. Now, baby, let's go out, look out. But
you got all that flowing on. How do we not
have a random game in the middle of the week
saying yeah, yeah, yeah, that stuff's gonna be great on Saturday.
But here we are live in Dublin. Why is the
game in Dublin not on a Wednesday?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Just wait, just wait, We're getting there. Just wait. Now, Tomorrow,
there's a slate of games, not a full slate obviously,
because it is zero week, and there's two big games.
You get Navy and Notre Dame from Dublin at eleven
thirty am Pacific time at two thirty pm, and then
you get San Jose State and USC. So you have
two top fifteen teams. And I know what people are thinking.

(04:17):
You see this, and you see oh USC is on tomorrow.
Caleb Williams, I can't wait to see it. It says
it's on pack twelve. Is there a PAC twelve network?
I guarantee you the average college football fan is saying,
is it still around? Did they change it? Is it
now Apple Plus or something? There's a PAC twelve network still,
because I know there's no conference anymore, and I don't
even know that there's a The whole thing was over

(04:38):
getting a TV deal. There's still a PACK twelve network.
I gotta go check on my TV somewhere and find it.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Jason is the opening package to the pregame One more Time?
We are for one more round.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Hang I'm trying to find PAC twelve. What are you
up to now? I'm up to all the music channels
on the television Holiday favorites music in the sixties, seventies, eighties.
There's hardcore heavy metal, there's hair metal. There's old school
hip hop. There's nineties R and B hip hop. Hang on,
hang on, there's salsa, all right, all right, there's.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Show musicians from Utah. Check Wick.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
I don't know. I think I missed the BACK twelve network.
I think I've missed Skip Drive Fast, I missed it all.
But look, there's two big things for both of these
teams playing tomorrow. The first one USC look, Caleb Williams
the overwhelming favorite to win the Heisman Trophy five to one.
He's not doing it. He's not doing it. We saw
his level of excellence last year in a season in

(05:39):
which USC was really good in the thick of the
playoff hunt, all the way till the end of the season.
It's hard to win it twice in a row, because
nobody does. Because you have to have to win the
Heisman Trophy. You have to have an unbelievable season, and
then you have to better it the next year. Because
voters are human, They're not going to vote for Caleb Williams.
If there's somebody else doing something thing that's at least

(06:01):
close to what he is doing, He's not gonna get
the votes. He's got to go above and beyond what
he did a year ago, and let's face it, that's
not going to happen. So to think, I know, Caleb
Williams is an overwhelming favorite right now. The odds came
out today and Williams is there. The guy threw forty
two touchdowns last year through for forty five hundred yards.
He has the exact same season again this year. He's

(06:21):
not gonna win, all right, that's just how it goes
in college football, and I'll go you one one one better.
I am not gonna pick USC to do anything. They
are done. The USC football is on my never again
list because they're always fine just until the point they
need to win the most, and then they go. I
do global list too, Yes, it is a global list,

(06:43):
and it's getting larger and larger. There is. I have
a never again list where there's teams I'm never gonna
pick because they always let me down and it doesn't
matter who the coach of the players are and USC
football's on that list never doing it. I'm not doing it.
I'm not falling for it. I'm not falling for another
year of Hey, Lincoln Riley and USC where they are
and then just all they gotta do is win the
bye week. Only no, and they lost. They lose during

(07:05):
the bye week, and suddenly they're out of the College
football playoff. They can't win the Pac twelve. I am
not picking. I'm not buying USC because they're good right
up until the point you need them the most, and
then USC finds a way to falter and losing. You
wonder what just happened? And I'm not doing it. Caleb
Willieves is gonna be fine, right, It's gonna be the
number one pick in the draft, will have a great year.
Everything is going to be great. But Heisman Trophy playoff.

(07:27):
I'm not falling for USC. I'm not falling for the banana,
the tailpipe not doing it well.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
The big question is how much improved is that defense?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Right?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Because if you're playing games like last year, you won,
but it was the year of living dangerously right, a
lot of high scoring, one possession games and all it
takes is one balance, one tip ball for your whole
season to be torn asunder. So I get your logic
as it flows. I do think the defense will be better,
which means the numbers go down. So from a Heisman perspective, no,

(07:59):
you might be able to, you know, see some things
out of Caleb Williams that we didn't last year. Maybe
you know that evolution, whatever it is you're looking for,
if you thought something was missing, to validate you know,
any trepidati, because look, not everybody's going to be one
hundred percent on board. There's always got to be a
naysayer or two out there. This guy's not that great.

(08:21):
I watched him. He's pretty flipping good. But now as
far as the team goes yeah, and it's one. It
takes one snap, one possession to take your team and
take you out of playoff consideration and put you in
the also rans. That's unfortunately the position we're in. It's

(08:42):
what makes college football great but also vexing at times.
And this is a team that, given all of what's
circling around it. I know the rally cries are there
as the Pac twelve crumbles into the sea, but the
opportunity is great. But I'm kind of with you that night.

(09:04):
Let's face it. I mean, we live in Los Angeles,
which means I have the USC car flags and stuff
all over me. So I fear that sometimes, just like
a Heisman voter, my personal angst gets in the way
of and clouds my vision.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Now you want to know who I'm believing in Big
and his team, I'm believing in Okay. Today's show brought
you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.
Get a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more all your protection in one plays. Bundle
and save at Progressive dot com. The Heisman Trophy winner
for this year is playing tomorrow. A team that is

(09:46):
playing tomorrow will be in the ghost Spot playoff Syracuse
and Garrett no It Syracuse. I'm playing tomorrow. Watch Sam
Hartman win the Heisman Trophy. Okay, Sam Hartman is is
I'm telling you people are sleeping on Notre Dame. Yeah
he's sixteen to one, but he's got eighteen to one

(10:08):
depending on your shopping. Yeah, he's got everything you need.
Notre Dame is really good. He's the missing piece. He's
the reason. He's the guy they went out number one
to go get in the transfer portal. I've seen a
lot of Sam Hartman the last year is at wake Forest, right.
I watch a lot of ACC football. I'm the guy
that watches ACC football, so you don't have to Sam Hartman.
He reminds me a lot. He's a lot like Aidan
O'Connell's who's now on the Raiders. And I'm telling you

(10:30):
he's gonna wind up starting half the games for the
Raiders this year because Garoppolo is going to get hurt, ineffective,
and he's gonna wind up playing. But Hartman is one
of those players who he does everything well. He's not
someone where you say, Okay, the guy's got a rocket
fron arm. No, the guy's got a pretty good arm. Well,
the guy is completion percentage. He sees the field look
at like Bryce Young, No, but he sees the field

(10:50):
really well. He does everything well, and he's incredibly smart,
and I will. I can't tell you how many times
I've watched him drives where wake Forest needed points end
to game, end to hals and he found a way
to get it there. He sprays the ball all over
the field. Look, the guy's throwing seventy seven touchdowns the
last two years. He is the missing piece for Notre Dame.

(11:11):
Now you're talking about taking a guy with his talent
and putting him on a team that's incredibly talented. And
the spotlight they have every week as Notre Dame continues
to win, and they will. I know, they looks like
they have a tough schedule. But am I really believing
Clemson is great?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I don't know all about that, right, Let's see. Am
I believing that usc Yeah? Let's see, But no, Tre Dame.
This is what they need. And you're gonna see right
away the difference he is on this team. I've already
seen stories about how he has ingratiated himself and become
a big leader and a guy that has become a
big face of the program. He's that good a quarterback.

(11:48):
He's gonna win the Heisman Trophy because Notre Dame's gonna
win every week. They're gonna finish this season no loss,
one loss, and they'll be in the college Football Playoff.
They're in the playoff and Sam hartmans or Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Look at you, I dig that. I'm looking at a
lot of the odds out there. Guy, I'm gonna go
a little bit deeper on. How about Drew L. R
Out of Penn State at twenty five to one. Oh,
those are great odds right there.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Tho.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
The gonna do some big things there as well. But
you go up at the top of the board. You
got Williams, you got Jayden Daniels of LSU quinn Ewers.
JJ McCarthy is one at There's a lot of guys
at sixteen or eighteen to one. Bo Nicks. How about
that graphic that they put up in New York where
you've got the body on one building and then in

(12:37):
the foreground you've got his arm. That's as good as
you get Drake May he gets to go to the
Sam Howell route. Yeah, playing for North Carolina, right, I
mean we're well, we liked him back then. Caid Club
Nick all right, your guy Klube Nick out of Clemson,
Jordan Travis Florida State, Michael Pennix Junior, Washington, and then

(13:01):
amongst all these quarterbacks, we finally get Marvin Harrison Junior.
Go look up the old Man. We've done a lot
of content on the Old Man through the years. But
you know, you've got a nice crowded field there behind
Caleb Williams to fight through. I do like your Hartman
pick up because you do have a couple of big battles.
The Ohio State game in week five, will we'll sell it,

(13:25):
say a lot, And.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
How can is Ohio State? I mean, Ohio State's ranked
up there. They don't even know who their quarterbacks, but
they're so good they don't even need to. They're gonna
run the single wing. We're just gonna snap it right
to the running backs. But I mean, look at yours
is fourteen to one. Is arch Manning gonna depose him before?
I mean, come on, yeah, that's a tough one. Yeah,
I think Quen Youwers needs to have a little bit
longer odds than that, because how long are they gonna

(13:47):
go until they want arch Manning? Right? I mean really,
how long are they gonna go?

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Confused by that one? But yeah, you go on down
the line and McCord of Ohio State is at twenty
to one. Just to kind of paint the full picture.
But Hartman has an opportunity, right. They jump off to
a big start tomorrow, heavy favorites in Dublin, a big
time televised marquee game in weeks zero, and with the

(14:11):
television network uh and the hype machine that will roll
with it, right, with all the broadcast partners, Peacock and all.
I mean, you can do an awful lot for a
Heisman campaign. You can't change his name to Thaisman. I mean,
there's no obvious move that you can make that that way.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
But why don't you just change your name to Heisman?
Just do that. Just I'm changing my name to change
my name, just.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Go straight to it. It's like I'm winning it, man,
this is Matt Hasselbeck. I want the ball and we're
gonna I'm changing my name to Heisman, and I'm winning
that trophy com in taking it by course. But look,
he's he's already shown, uh, the athleticism and the the
high octane opportunity. Here just a question of Notre Dame

(15:00):
go that route right, and that's the biggest thing. Is
it going to be the greatest show on turf? Or
do we see more of the Notre Dame history start
to rear its head, especially in some of these games
where it's a succeed in proceed just get out of
a town healthy for the bigger games against Ohio State, Clemson,

(15:21):
et cetera.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Look, I know, I know the run of quarterbacks named
Sam has not been great the last few years.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
I mean, you're a big Sam guy.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
He but but Sam hart He's gonna trust me. Sam
Hartman's gonna break it. He is that good. He's a dude. Man,
He's going to be that good.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
I feel great about that showdown against USC. So you know,
we get to do the head to head comparison in
the squared circle.

Well that it means I have to be the iron
chic Ariva.

I love Tito Santana.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Uh, of course I'll be cursing all night, so I'll

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yeah no, no, And I don't think they'd appreciate that
at the network.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
But well, I mean, look, but you do you it's
like filling the blanks. It's like we'd be playing one
of the many games that you hear across FI. What
what did Harmon really stay there? Fill in the blanks?
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Let's go, we
got John.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Paul Morosi come on your way in a minute. MLB
Network Insider because the show Heyo Tawny Story has just
turned the world of sports on its ear. In the
last thirty six hours, a ucl tear in his elbow.
He's not going to pitch the rest of the year.
He's going to continue to hit, which is great. Still
gonna get to play, but pitching not for him. This

(18:38):
is the second big arm injury he has had in
the last five years. Will he ever really pitch again?
John Paul joined us now on the Hotline. JP how's
it going, buddy, How are you today?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Jason and Micah. I'm doing well. And it's amazed that
when I looked at the Angels lineup as they face
the Mets this evening at City Field, there he is
adding second the designated hitter showy Otani. He's still in there,
and it's just remarkable. We know the Angels are not
going to go to the postseason this year, he's not

(19:11):
going to pitch again this season, but he's still in there,
and it's just an extraordinary testament to his kipter, his toughness,
the way that he regards his professionalism, and his obligation
to his teammates in the organization. It's just a it's refreshing,
honestly to see his toughness, even though we're all concerned
about him. It's almost as though his ability to keep

(19:32):
playing at least in one half of his brilliance is
lessening the blow a little bit for all of us.
It's just it's an extraordinary story happening right now in
New York.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
You know, when I see show Hel Tody and going forward,
it's hard because it sucks. It sucks to see a
guy who the unicorn to see what happened to him.
You can't say it's surprising. This happens to pitchers. Pitchers
get hurt, and it's unfortunately a big part of the game,
and big time pitchers get hurt. He's going to be
a free agent after this year. What happens now? I mean,

(20:03):
I know everything's up in the air, but I go
forward is teams are going to say, listen, we're going
to give you a ton of money. You know, we're
going to give you the Bryce Harper Aaron Judge type
money for being that but pitching. I don't know that
that seven hundred and fifty million dollar contract that was
going to change sports as we knew it, and say,
I don't think that's out there because I don't think
any team's going to go into this and say, hey, yeah,

(20:23):
we think you can pitch for us again. I mean,
you look at what's going on with guys like de
Gram and you just can't go in and say, Okay,
we're going to pay you that money hoping that these
two bad arm injuries you're gonna be able to get passed.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Right. I agree, I think that no matter what the
money was going to be or might have been, theoretically
when we talked about this ten days ago, it's obviously
not going to be the same right now, and I
think to show a credit, his mental toughness is such
that I don't think he's going to spend his nights

(20:55):
counting the money that he's not earning, because that would
drive a person crazy. It's impossible to live life like that.
And it's also I think impossible to just stay wrapped
in bubble wrap and never go out and do your profession,
which is inherently risky, which is what he's doing. I
think that to your point, you know, one of the

(21:15):
things that we'll never know is what it would have
looked like had this year or the wear and tear
on his elbow manifested itself at a different time, such
that let's say that it was maybe six months down
the road that this happens in playing time, that is
meaning like early part of next year. That if if

(21:39):
he was going through the normal physical procedures where everybody's
going to have to get a physical to be able
to ensure a contract. We saw what happened with Carlos
Kreel as offseason, where different opinions about what an Ri
said of course giants. The giants said no, Mets said no.
Eventually the twins said, okay, So would we have gone
into one of those rackted situations where some issue with

(22:03):
this UCL would have probably come up on imaging this winter,
even if it wasn't torn by then, then what do
you do? And that, to me is the unknown And
this probably goes one of two directions. If he still
wants to try to shoot the moon and get the
most that he can, you either sign a two year deal.

(22:24):
Maybe it's two years times forty million a year, maybe
it's more than that, and basically the idea is that
you you rehab for the first year of it if
you end up having to have surgery, and then you
come back and you try to perform in twenty five
like you were doing this year, and then hit the
market again and hope that it's more favorable. Or you
sign a deal that's effectively two or three years guaranteed

(22:48):
with a whole bunch of escalators based on innings pitched,
and that basically, if he can prove that he can
pitch enough in year two and three of the deal
and all of a sudden, years four, five, and six
become guaranteed at sixty million dollars a year, mean, there
are ways to creatively build this in. But to your point,
the just a guaranteed bolus of sixty million dollars over

(23:10):
ten years, that's just I don't see that happening.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
JP, just because you know, we're here in LA and
it's become a bit of a narrative. I know it's
easy to take a bunch of shots at the way
the Angels have either managed their money, made some signings,
and some other things in the organization. But I've seen
a lot of attacks of how he's been handled this year,

(23:34):
and I'm not connecting that. Like he's a grown man,
if he was experiencing discomfort, he'd shut himself down, one
would think.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Right, and I agree, I have maybe on the outlier here.
I have zero issue with how the Angel will handle this.
None and that includes keeping him at the deadline, that
includes having him pitch. You know, he he amazing player,
He's an amazing person and in terms of what he

(24:04):
represents the game on the world, and you know we're
in this phase of sports that's where load management's become
very popular. And listen, the Angels, to their credit, he
has never started on four days rest, which is standard
in Major League Baseball. He has never started on four
days rest. He's always had an extra day of rest.

(24:26):
So the Angels have totally reconfigured their entire roster to
allow this to be a six man rotation for him.
And so when you do that, I'm not sure how
much more you can add and to build in a
standard one additional day of pitching rest. Obviously he's still
playing as a the age, but that's a pretty big step.

(24:49):
The other part is the reason they kept him at
the deadline is twofold Number one wanted to keep them.
They wanted to keep him for the long term, and
they realized the only way to keep them for the
long term was to they could be a playoff team,
and so you fortify your club, you you trade for
Lucas Giolito and others and try to make a run
at this thing. The second part is the fans want

(25:10):
to see him play. This is still at its core
and entertainment business. That's why we all love sports. We
love to be entertained, and he is still about the
most entertaining person we've got in the sport. So people
want to watch him play. That's a good thing. You want.
You want customers in all park to watch your team.

(25:31):
And so I will never fault a GM or an
owner who says I'm doing this because it makes my
product better and helps my fans enjoy my team and
enjoy the sport of baseball. I will never criticize the
team when that's their motivation. And I truly believe that
was the motivation that the Angels had in keeping him
at the deadline.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
All right, JP, you got to explain the New York
Yankees to me then, because Brian Cashan just said this
season is a disaster.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
How much How much time do we have left for
me to do that?

Speaker 2 (26:05):
I mean, well, if he needs to here we.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Go, here we go, I'll do my best, all right. So, so,
generally speaking, when your team is the oldest position player
group in the American League and is also having a
losing record and it is super expensive, that's a really
bad combination. Old team, overpaid, not winning games, bad bad news.

(26:35):
There's there's basically the summation of the Yankee season. Now
that's the easy part. The hard part is how to
get yourself on this. And I there are may be
fans that say well, fire the manager. Okay, that's been
tried before by different teams in situations like this. This
team has very little functional depth. And the question I've

(26:58):
got for that is, are the players that told us
we're gonna be really good? Are they as good as
you said they were, Because if they're not, then they
got real problems. Because this group of young guys, Volpi, Piazza, Cabrera,
they've come in and it's like there's been this hollow

(27:19):
spot in the middle of the roster. You've got Judge,
who's brilliant when healthy. The young guys aren't ready for
showtime yet. And in the middle of the club like
Bader's been hurt, Mayhew hasn't hit, Stanton's been hurt. You
go down the line. Glaber's been pretty good but maybe
not a superstar. Catching has been just okay this year,
Rizzo's been hurt. They're not a very good team and

(27:42):
I think that they can go and sign some players
and that's fine, but the culture of the group is
not good right now and they're gonna have to find
a way to address that, and if they don't, it's
gonna be another long season next year because guess what,
American leaguees. Let'll tell you something. The Baltimore are going nowhere.
They're having fun, they're young, they're talented, they're inexpensive. That's

(28:04):
a good combination in the sport. And the Yikeys don't
have it. The Orioles do.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
All right, JP, Now I want to ask you this.
I want I wanted to take you out of your
comfort zone here for a second to ask this. I'm
trying to get the schedule down here. I saw on
the Michigan football schedule you are scheduled to coach the
fourth quarter of the first game that Harbaugh is out.
Can you confirm that before I get everybody down? Okay,
you're coaching.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
So I'm gonna go down. So I'll be sitting in
the stands with my family for the first three quarters.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Then I'm gonna walk down, and then we're gonna we're
gonna do this, all right, I'm gonna take take over.
I'm gonna bring McCarthy in and we're gonna we're gonna
go back to my roots here. We're gonna go with
the wing I okay, and we're gonna bring We're gonna
bring the wing back in motion to the left side
and We're gonna do like one of those counter pivot
pitches and run run the option back to the right tackle.

(28:59):
Not a VA option, but there's like a one. We're
gonna leave the end unblocked and we'renna let JJ run
on the right side. That's the way I'm gonna call.
It's gonna be wing motion left option right with with
JJ and Korum, and we're gonna go to be like
twenty five yard gain on the first play the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
All right, there we go. I mean, I'm excited to
see that now because I wanted to make sure that
it was actually because there's so many people coaching these
teams team now that for the first three weeks, I
wanted to make sure you were there.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah, I got it. I'm on it the fourth quarter.
But we've already got it scripted. You know that. They
always say, like the off the quarter, you want to
script the first series. I got my first cheries scripted personnel.
We're gonna go and I'll be like thirteen personnel, roll
them out there. I'm feel pretty good about what we got.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Good because Harmon and I get to coach. If there's
an overtime in week two, that's Harmon and I get
to coach.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Yeah right, I'm not sure. I think it's gonna be UNLV.
I'm not sure if they're gonna force overtime, but if
they do, they're gonna fly in the coach.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Well, I'm also directing the halftime show.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah yeah. Harmon's got that too. Yeah,
he's gotta be great.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Guys, we went the poll seg without even assessing the
issues of the White Sox. Was a mess. We have
to do that one next time we talk. But we
got some we got some issues there, my friends.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
You mean Nashville White Sox. We'll get to that, honey.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Guys. I saw that report. I I don't think that's
gonna happen. I really, I really don't.

time and he said, you're gonna stop it. That's what
we're gonna run you. You try to stop it. I'm
gonna I'll tell you what's coming at you still try
to stop it.

(32:12):
So we have a big controversy that is not just
big in the United States, but it's getting big around
the world. Coming up in about fifteen minutes, But the
saga of Trey Lance continues. He's going to play this
week allegedly for the forty nine Ers. If he's still
on the team, and his destiny ultimately is now not known.
He's become one of the biggest stories of training camp

(32:34):
because this is a guy that the forty nine ers
traded up for up to number three in the first round,
and now his destiny is going to likely lie somewhere else.
He didn't win the backup job to Brock Purdy. He
is the third string quarterback. He was given a day
off of practice this week to get himself right mentally
and come back to be the number three quarterback. Okay,

(32:55):
so a trade is coming, Trey Lance is gonna get
dealt Okay, Teams are gonna going to make their offers,
and yeah, you'll be able to move him for a
fifth or sixth round conditional pick, because there's some teams
that he's a curiosity for where you can come in
and sit back and not have to worry about playing
right away, a team like New England because you know
Belichick wants to replace mac Jones. If he could tomorrow, Yeah,

(33:16):
come in, sit, learn the playbook for eight or nine weeks.
Maybe you get in the lineup and play. There's lots
of teams out there where he's be a curiosity for.
But then, Mike Harmon, you had John Lynch say this yesterday,
which pissed me off to no level. When you hear
him talk about Trey Lance's future in the NFL, take
a listen.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
We're very happy with Trey. That's probably the most likely
option is that he's here. If we could find a
landing spot for Trey that is, you know, is a
really good one for him, and you know works for
our organization. That's not something we turn a blind eye too.
But that's not where our focus is right now. You know,
I think our focus is on Trey getting back here
and us being the best football team.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Okay, first of all, this is awful, all right, John
Lynch saying we're very happy with Trey No, you're not.
He's your number three quarterback. Don't tell me you're happy
with the three.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
You're happy where he is as your third quarterback.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Why and and John Lynch the entire time the the
Trey Lance, brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, Jimmy Garoppolo saga has
been going on. He's just been afraid to admit he's
not the guy we blew the pick. And for some
and I don't know why, but John Lynch is afraid
to it so much so he's now acting to the

(34:33):
detriment of Trey Lance. Because from the beginning it was, oh,
we love Trey, but why are you keeping Jimmy Garoppolo. Well,
we like Trey Lance. Look, I'm not saying they didn't
give him a chance to win the job, because they did,
and he actually won it. At some point they moved
on from Garoppolo, they went to Trey Lance. He got hurt.
Brock Purdy shows up, Hey, mister irrelevant, turns into a

(34:53):
guy that could have been in the Super Bowl last
year had he not gotten hurt against the Eagles, right,
Brock Purdy is the guy for this team. This is
when you let Trey Lance go. You let the guy go,
and you let him go fit and play his football
someplace else. If you care about the kid and John
the way here, we care about you, care about it.
We had to. It's best for the forty nine ers. Dude,
he's your third string quarterback.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Man.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
If he's playing this year, you got more problems than
just Hey, Trey Lance is here. Let the guy go,
Trade him someplace else and let him begin his career again.
That's what's best for Trey. It's not sitting at number
three in San Francisco, where he's a daily reminder of
how disappointing he has been every day in training camp
this year's been look at look at the bad day
Trey Lance ad. It's a different talking it on TV

(35:37):
going Trey Lan should have never been a first round pick.
Trey lancud be playing in the CFL. Trey lancem be
playing in the World League of American Football. If it
came back. It's time to let him go and do
the right thing. I see this, and I just see
John Lynch wanting to hold on to the fact that Hey,
if we trade him, I'm not gonna be able to
take the criticism that we took the wrong guy, that
we traded up to get Trey Lance and it didn't

(35:57):
work out. Dude, nobody cares anymore. Your team is fantastic.
You found your quarterback. You found him in the seventh
rout of the draft. Do what Jerry Jones does. Stand
up and say, well, I drafted him, and look, we knew,
we knew. Let we love this guy. Stand up and
say how much you love brock Purdy. Nobody is going
to care if you trade Trey Lance. Nobody. But yet
John Lynch has had this. I've been afraid to give

(36:20):
him the job. I've been afraid to trade him. Now
he's done, make the move. Be somebody good and show
you're looking out for the kid by letting him get
a fresh start someplace else. Because now this is just
oh well, this is the best for the team. Yeah,
it's always best when you have a third string quarterback
that knows your offense for the last couple of years.
But come on, man, you got it wrong. It's okay,
no one's gonna get mad at you. Let him go.

(36:41):
Do the right thing for Trey Lance.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Look at you think of the children? What about everybody
loves the child? The children, lot of it, like the children,
Come on, man, do it's best for him? No, If
someone wants to come with an offer that makes you
full and whole and you're ready to go, let's go.
I mean that's that offer.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
Is anything. It's a conditional fifth round pick, a conditional
sixth round pick, it's anything you can get to move
on anything.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
John Lynz, you're operating from the.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Position of, all right, this guy's extra, he's bonus territory
at this point, Like if he's truly a detriment to
the locker room, then I get it.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
And if I've always said it, if the guy, if
you quote lose the guy because he gets tossed from
the starting role and has to be on the bench
or in this case third third string, then he's not
your guy.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
And that's that's where you're going.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Plenty of teams to go to. Minnesota seems tops on
the lists. One that I've been talking about since they're
not convinced. Kirk Cousins is around. After last year, you
hate Alabama, Mac, that is established. He's the only guy
you hated more than Ken.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Hey Belichick hates Alabama Mac too. Okay, don't forget he
hates them too.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
Yeah. Well, I'm not talking about Belichick. This is about
you and me in audience right now. But he's the
head coach and he hates them too, don't forget that.
But if he go that he plays well enough and
they win, and that defense and Zekiel Ezekiel Elliott can
go and do some great things. Almost left the E
off for savings and didn't want to know if I

(38:11):
was gonna call him Ezekiel or Zeke, so I kind
of butchered it. But the idea for Lance, I mean,
he had a shot, he's had his opportunities, good to
stay healthy. Now you can talk about play calling, preparedness, whatever.
He also had the worst number three option ever and
that he went to a team that actually wins. So
they're not gonna change things up to have growing pains.

(38:34):
They're not showing me that smile again, baby. They're going
and they're trying to get towards the super Bowl, which
means if you're not ready, if you're not first, your
last as in number.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
Three, you think I didn't see you, did that growing pain?
Show me that smile again? Line I like what you
did there. I like you said there.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Well you give it about Allen Thick's hair. Now they
can move on. They can do it.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
