(00:49):
you hear this said a lot at Fox Sports Radio.
Maybe you don't, but we are a big family here
and it always is really fun. Once in the while,
you get to work with somebody you haven't don't get
to work with all that often. It's even doubly interesting
when that person has never been seen at Fox Sports
Radio beyond a certain hour. Johnny Ramos, legendary engineer extraordinary

(01:11):
true who has worked every single day at Fox Sports Radio.
He is the cal Ripken of Fox Sports Radio. He
has a show streak now of two thousand, one hundred
and seventy four consecutive days.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
He even marks him on the back of that wall
there like he's you know, it's part of Shawshank or something.
He is.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
He is set to break the all time record sometime
in early twenty twenty six. Will he do a victim lapse?
Shake everybody, now, I'll shake everybody's head. But he's never
worked here at Fox Sports Radio past four o'clock Pacific time,
and here he is. It's eight o'clock, four hours past
his expiration date. He is still here working. I thought,
really thought at some point you would just explode and

(01:51):
turn into dust, like like like they do.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
For vampires, likeaped his fingers.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
I just disappear, Yeah you, Jason, I don't want to go,
and you had.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
I just wanted I would just used to be here,
but I would disappear. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know to say.
It's it's fun, it's exciting. I enjoy working. Uh, I
just leave it four because That's when I'm told to leave.
So you know, all right, all right, before we get
into Dallas Cowboys. The best thing about working with us
compared to working with all the other shows is what

(02:21):
go uh? You have a great both of you have
a great sense of humor.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Other shows aren't funny? Good? Got that right right right there,
right here?

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Write it down, right.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Down, Just say that clip for future use.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Hey, how comes someone keyed Covino and rich on my card?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
But you go now, you're gonna be here for another.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Hour or so?

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Right with us? Let me see an it's funny you
say that it's an hour and a half. I don't
know why it's I have to do that extra half hour.
Why can I just not go to ten or just
go till nine for for some reason.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
You can do whatever the hell you want Pacific times.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
And I don't know if you have.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
The one rule we have on the show.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, the only group that has banned music for you
band play is Tears for Fears.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Okay, And I didn't know wh whoa whoa band from
this is.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
This is news to me. And as a long standing member,
you know since its inception of this show. And you
can only play running up that Hill in the fifth hour.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Oh, okay, fifth, fifth hour.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Everything else, whatever you want, man else. Yeah, we had
Brian Adams. We were rocket and rolling a few minutes ago.
Here Jessey Rambos musical stylings, Johnny Rombos here on Fox.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Uh speaking of stylings.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yes, Jerry Jones at it again today as we get
set for Hey, the Cowboys entering a season of.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
The really better have a good year. Man.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
All the pressure is still on Dak Prescott. I'm telling
you this is a win or bust year for Dak.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
The stakes are immense.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Even Oh, Jerry Jones went on one O five to
three the Fan earlier today and said, oh, yeah, Dak
is Dak is still going to be here. Wow, we
signed him to a big long contract and uh uh,
there may be some stuff we do, but we're expecting
Dak to be here for a long time.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
We expect that to be with us a long time.
And yeah, we were always working around it with several
nascinations of numbers that would work.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
See now my impression is even better because now Jerry
Jones does a lot more as and uhh when when
he's trying to dance around the top, do you think
he's doing?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Am impression? Like you know when when.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
You hear Jerry Jones, when you hear Jerry Jones and
he wants to give you a big he just says it.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
He just said.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
He just says, we have to play better on Sunday
or we're not gonna win. But when he wants to
kind of evade a question, you get a lot of well,
we uh uh, Dak, we expect expect him to be
around here, the ladies and gentlemen at tap dance, we
kind of expe epect.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Him to be here.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
You heard him saying in the offseason all we want
to extend Dak. Now likely what they were saying this
is because look, the Dak Prescott contract this year next
year hamstrings them from doing a lot of things. Now
he says it again, we expect that to be here
a long time. Oh wait a minute, Jason, you just
said it's a winner bust year. The Cowboys want Dak
to succeed. They're not rooting against their own God.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
No, no, no, He's one of the greatest stories and fines of
Jerry Jones' lifetime. Look, because those other guys were all
first round picks, right top picks. When you look at
Emmett and you you look at Troy Aikman and Michael Irman.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
All that was easy on a relative basis. Of course,
it's still got a coalesce and you have to go
win games. But that's first round. I wait, Dak's found
money herlevant, But I mean I have a wizard.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
I drafted dak Man right, Uh yeah, listen, don't get
it twisted, mister.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
I'm sorry that showed the first class sorcerer he was.
Jerry Jones wants Dak to succeed. The entire organization wants
him to succeed. But this is a win or bust
year because, as I've said, things changed after that playoff
game against the Niners when they could have won, gotten

(06:15):
the NFC title game. But Dak was so bad, the
offense was so bad. Something changed. The clock was ticking
on Dak. What did the Cowboys do this offseason? Went
out and got Trey lince Well, a developmental guy. Everything
is fine, Everything is fine. Didn't say anything bad not
This is not about Dak. This is we wanted developmental
quarterback the whole time. And now here's Jerry Jones saying, oh,
we want Dak to be around for a long time.

(06:36):
The Cowboys know Dak Prescott better than anybody.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Right, they know.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
One thing that I'm seeing over the course of the
past few years is that negative reinforcement doesn't work with him.
And that's a big thing because usually old school coaches,
and you know, I've seen this coming up and coaching.
I've noticed that when you and I were playing, there
was a lot of negative reinforcement.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Oh sure, I can hit it with a whistle helmet
to help, right, Well, not not stuff that you can
sue the school over.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I just mean overall negative and being threatened with your
all these things. And players nowadays don't respond to that
as much as they used to because it's a bit
of a different way. It's kind of an archaic way
to think the negative because look, I'm not down with this.
I'm trying my best, I'm not down with it. But
Dak Prescott, really you can tell, is not one of

(07:28):
those guys that will respond to any kind of negative
reinforcement and anything of of Jerry Jones calling Dak Prescinto's office. Ay,
and Dak, you absolutely sucked against the Niners. You killed us.
If you don't get it going this year, we are
fighting a way out of your contract now that that's
not gonna work with Dak. It's filling and surrounding Dak
with love and you can, you can support, but still

(07:51):
sending him that message, even though we're not talking about it,
We're still sending him that message of here comes Trey Lance,
your developmental quarterback. Because why because the clock is ticking
on you take tick tic tic tic tic tic tic
tic tic tic tic tik tik tik. If you don't
if this isn't a great year, if this isn't a
big win year for you with the Dallas Cowboys, the
clock is gonna tick even closer. And it may not

(08:11):
be after this year and maybe a year after where
it's a little bit easier, but Dak Prescott will be
the ex quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. The the clock
has started ticking towards him getting replaced. He doesn't want
that clock to get to midnight. He wants that clock
to slow, slow, slow, slow, slow. But another year of
this and that clock gets really close to midnight. Whether
they can train him after this year, get out of it,

(08:33):
whatever they want to do, because it's still somewhat manageable,
And don't ever tell me, the money's not manageable. Aaron
Rodgers got trained, so just stop. So whatever it is,
the money's gonna be manageable when they move on from him. Yeah,
maybe after this year, maybe one more. Maybe after this year,
we gotta go out and get a guy. Lance is
still developing. Maybe he's good at some point, but they're
not gonna say, hey, Dak, we're turning the team over

(08:55):
to Trey Lance doock because we like him more. Trey
Lance was brought in just to be that push Dak needs. Hey,
We're not gonna say any think he's at Melbuger, but
you see him every day, and you know, the guy
was the first round pick. He was a number three
overall pick of the draft. He's a guy with a
lot of talent, got a lot of attention on him,
and maybe he gets a chance to play it. Maybe
he turns out to be really good. He's a daily
reminder just being there without the Cowboys having to say

(09:16):
anything to him. So just what I hear Jerry Jones say,
we Expectdak to be here for a long time. Nothing
has changed. This is still a win or bust year
for Dak. Prescott or the Cowboys will start that clock
to move it on from him. That could be in
a few months, it could be in a year, in
a few months, but that is what's happening, and they
want to positively reinforced because remember at the end, they
want him to succeed. They want him to respond and

(09:37):
be the quarterback they're paying him to be well.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Whenever he used the phraseology and this is where the
English Linton, all of our wordsmithing and super sleuthing that
you and I do here as longtime members of this
radio world and going back to our days of writing
thirty page papers on books, we kind of read is
that when you say I expect to there's the parenthetical

(10:03):
that's implied. But things can change. Dot dot dot finish
your thought. Remember Dak Prescott's response to the media when
asked about Trey Lance's arrival not exactly, Hey, welcome him in.
I can't wait to meet him yester week and work
with him and whatever. Like you want to talk about
a guy showing his ass and how he felt about

(10:24):
a situation. I mean, that was it right there? Of yeah, right,
He's like you didn't have anything prepared, but clearly was
perturbed that he had to answer a question like that
at all, even if it didn't mean anything in the
immediate But what's changed, and not to get into prisoner
of this first two weeks of the college football season.

(10:46):
But we've already been talking about what four or five
quarterbacks going into the season. Now you add Shader Sanders,
now you add some of these other big time performers.
The first couple of weeks, there're gonna be a lot
of players where you're is this guy getting us over
or was he the A to B guy because the
ago and B two C Let's go find the rookie

(11:07):
in next year's draft, right. I heard some estimates folks
saying that you could see nine quarterbacks, which is perhaps
insane perhaps with what we saw with the point barrages
and everything else. If some of this holds the form,
that won't be too out of the question, especially when
you've got veterans like Dak, veterans like Kirk Cousins and
some of these others where you can say we can

(11:28):
reset the clock with a rookie quarterback on a rookie
deal and go address other needs. Why not. Yeah, the
pressure's there. You turned up the heat just a little bit,
you know, it's the old boiling frog thing. Why do
you gotta go to that? Why you gotta go to
the boiler? No, it's not. It makes you think, and
all these other guys can talk about, you know, mutual

(11:51):
of Omaha's nature. Okay, okay, hang on, hang on, hang on.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
A crow being grabbed by an eagle and suffocated, that's nature.
You dropping a frog into a pot of boiling water.
That's not nature. That's like assassination. Okay, so let's just
let this a different thing.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
There's nature, and then there's hey, you messing around with
an order that's also making dinner.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
You're gonna put a put a frog? Really? You make
you make frog for dinner? I may have done that.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
You find him.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
You you get the celebrated jumping frog of Calaveras County
and drop that thing into a pot and go, I
don't care.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Look, I don't think they're gonna give you the blue
Ribbon winning frog.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
It's a blue ribbon frog. Hey, jump into that pot
and I come on. Two different things, two different things. See,
two different things, man, nature. And then there's you, whatever
youever you're trying to do. I think I can call
the police on you.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Just saying that. But the point is it up the
heat slows.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I'm gonna call the frog police. Where do you see
the frog? Please show up here?

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Part of z Utopia.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
There's gonna be a big frog gonna come in and
his tongue and just police and just grab you once
and and swallow you.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
And like in a movie.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
It's gonna be like the guy from the X Men. Yeah, exactly,
it's a bigger guy Alan coming me. He was like, uh,
was that Ray Park the shorter guy? Yes, Darth Maul.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Yeah, and then they cut him in.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
Half and worst villain ever marketing a movie, sold a movie.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
There's the villain? What happened to him? Yeh, he's gone.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Well, well you know we can. Can we bring him back?

Speaker 3 (13:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
We'll do it in the comic book as a spider
he's now he's a half man half spider.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Really yes, how did you would that make him spider man?
How did you come up with that idea?

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I was out drinking Friday night, and I'll tell you
all of a sudden, it just came to me. Man,
after my eleventh Margarita, Hey, what if we make Darth
Maul into a half man and what that.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Song needs to go to eleven.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Margarita's right, give me one margarita, blank, give me two margaritas.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
We didn't get to eleven. Maybe that's how you create
half Man, half Spider.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Addition of Darth Maul, nothing has changed for Dak Prescott.
This is still a wind Or Bust year or the
cowboy start everything going to replace him his quarterback. It's
just there always looks like I said, a they wanted
to succeed, and you know that this is how they
have to motivate it. They can't motivate by saying, dude, Cooper,
rush one games man now we got trading left.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
No one promise tomorrow. But I mean, Jerry ain't fifty
five running this team, right, He's looking at that sense
of urgency year to year of do we have what's
getting us over? Which is why he gambles on some
of these players. Sometimes you see it's like, well, you
know what, he was twenty five miles an hour better
than the last time he got arrested. He's making progress.

(14:35):
I mean stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Should have traded for the Rogers kid, he's pretty good.
Probably should have I should have got him, actually did.
Then it found out. It was the Bachelor I got
the other rogers didn't work out for me. But now, hey,
I've seen this show called the Golden Bachelor. Can I
be on that? I want to be on the Golden Bachelor.
I would be on that show. I want to give
out roses and all kinds of fun stuff, gold batch,

(14:57):
you know what. I would watch that, except that they'd
have to call it be the Silver Bachelor, because you
know Dallas Cowboys silver. That'd be the Silver Bachelor. That
guy could be the Golden Bachelor, and I'm the Silver Bachelor.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Oh please, someone green light this right now? I'm the
Silver Bachelor. How you do? Actually he's still married? What
I think he is? I think so? I think so?
All right?

Speaker 1 (15:13):
I think that buddy could be the Silver Bachelor. For quarterbacks.
That's why Silver Bachelor. And then your quarterbacks over the
age of thirty five, that's what you get to pick
one of those guys. There you It works right because
that's Silver Bachelor. Right, he's seventy one. Dude looks great
for seventy one. He's Golden Bachelor, right, yeah, goldon Bachelor.
He looks great for seventy one, and every woman is
over sixty. I think that's pretty cool. That's I think.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
That's another edition of that show. I won't watch.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I didn't want it to be Hollywood. Yeah, listen, all
the women are age appropriate or how they're all over thirty?

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Stop? Stop, stop stop? What is this so? Leonardo DiCaprio,
I'm done. He's seventy one, she's thirty five.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Well, what do you mean? I can't work? Where's Hollywood?

Speaker 2 (15:54):
It works?

Speaker 3 (15:55):
That works.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
It's Hollywood. It's Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
But trust me, pressures all neck, Twitter and how about
a fresco Mike has swallen doll. The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon coming up next. We
have a big quote. Actually, we got two big quarterback
stories coming your way. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike.
This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app
five Second Dance Party the Guitar.

Speaker 5 (16:34):
Jason is currently making a scrunched up face and playing
air guitar in the studio.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
And now that you've got that thought in your head
and the big guitars and nuts.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
All right, now you're doing air drums and singing. Bill
Collins is not the singer on this song. This is
because I mentioned Stevie VII moments ago. So I'm getting
Stevie VII in the big eat him and smile LP.
That David Lee Roth came out with back in nineteen
eighty seven.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
All nice.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Sean Ramos is a wizard, that's all. That is what
you call it.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Callback this the most underrated David Lee Roth song of
all time.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
I was a Van Hagar guy myself when.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
This song came out, like Paradise.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Was this just like Paradise? And Yankee Rose, Oh yeah?

Speaker 1 (17:31):
And I'm like, oh my god, he's gonna kick the
crap out of Van Halen. And then you know, twenty
five years later.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
It's oh no, no.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
They went to a whole new lead singer and n
a whole new second act.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
They became everything about love. Yeah. Area it did well.
They became well. They did a lot of songs.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Damie Roth left and they did songs about love, yeah,
And that's how it works.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
We had to bring it in and then they kept
trying to bring him back.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Sammy Hagar has got to come in and talk about love.
Oh okay, he still can't drive fifty five No, no, no.

Speaker 4 (17:59):
End of that, end of this video.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
CD's got the big heart guitar that's got the three
different necks on it.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
And he's playing with oh Man Stevie Vie.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Uh now you know you know no, just because I
took us down.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
To Johnny Johnny, Johnny Ramos has another hour to find
the Stevie Vice solo from Crossroads to come back with
at one point.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Plenty of time. I mean, I got people wanting to
bribe him, and I don't want. I don't want the
good part.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
I want.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
I want when he starts missing the notes, when it's
like whoa, the dress is coming Anble's agent is missing
the notes.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Or maybe he was just creating new ones.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Maybe hey, you know, look, let's all about interpretation, new
memories right there, just like Paradise.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
You know, when I was.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Just I'll tell you that.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
When I was I'll tell you no, no, back in
nineteen when I was doing radio and Syracuse and you
know it's serious. Jason, I was Jason Mason. Yes, I
had the crazy Morning Crew on zeny nine.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
I didn't even know that Jason Mason.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I like that, Jason Mason, just start.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
I sure.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Well, look I've been in radio for a long time.
I totally believed it. By the way, it wasn't like
I was like what you know, Like, yeah, that's what
we do in radio. Yeah, Jason Mason Crazy Morning Crew
Jason Mason's.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Eighty nine Crazy Morning the music mix of the.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Difference here on the eighty nine temperature Matta Olympus ninety three.
You're gonna get to ninety eight today. It's gonna be hot.
What we needed something because the biggest thing in Syracuse
in the winter, of course when you wake up in
the morning, is there's snow and all kinds of schools
are closed. So we needed a music bed. This saw
and it was hey, So we used just like Paradise.
And I remember editing the music bed. So it's just

(19:37):
music for like three minutes. I say, uh, in Casanovia,
these schools are closed. I used to think this is
gonna be so much fun because you were a kid
living in Paradise. Yes, with these yeah, school just like
Paradise because the kids get off from school for it.
But I remember listening for the names of the school
closures growing up was like you're like listening to the radio,
like like it was the ninth inning of a baseball

(19:57):
game and the bases were load. You're like, what's gonna happen?
What's gonna happened? But then I got to the part
I like there's just too many. Oh my god, Okay,
here is one sixty seven. I one sixty four, is
fifty four, is forty five, is seventy one public school,
seventy nine public school, twenty one public school, Thomas Jefferson, Uh,
George Washington Public School.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
I'm like, okay, now I'm done.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
We had to do that. I mean WGN I was
only a block away from my grade school, and they
generally didn't closed. Neither did my high school. So you
might start a little later, but you're never closed. But
I remember that WGN radio. You'd sit there and wait,
wait to hear it, and then did we miss it? Nowadays?
Like you got a text?

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Uh so all that from just like Paradise. David Lee
Roth Wait, David ly Roth. He was he did songs
by himself. Yes he was in California. Bab humble, let
me be humble, Lizzy, believe me.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Belame Bob All right, now we're done. We're done.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
So your quarterback had a couple of interesting your quarterback,
Justin Fields in advance of the Bears opening game this
week and against the Packers, there are a handful of
game like, look, it's week one in the NFL. Everybody's
excited about their teams, but obviously there are games that
mean more than others. And one of the more intriguing
games where both teams have a lot on the light.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yes, Jets Bills, but that's Monday Night. Are Bears Packers?

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Because the interest level in Justin Fields, all the Bears
made Dion Sanders Colorado type changes to the offense in
the offseason. We're ringing out all the old weapons, all
the new guys are coming in, and you have the
Packers starting off with Jordan Love. What's that gonna look like?
Fields today had very very confident comments to make about
going out there. We feel good about getting that win

(21:42):
week one. No, he didn't say, oh, I'm guaranteeing a win, Bud.
He talked about getting that win week one. Is gonna
feel great in all of this, and it's gonna it's
gonna justify and and and validate the belief in the
building and all the things, all the changes that have
gone on in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
And I'll tell you this, We'll.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Have our big some of our big pre few things
for the season over the course of tonight in the
next few nights. But I'll tell you, I know, Look,
the Lions are a really good team, and I like
the line Lions are gonna make the playoffs. But boy,
I like the Bears to win that division, I really do.
I Justin Fields is a really good quarterback and now
he has at least two good players to throw to.

(22:19):
Where last year it was, well, we thought they were
a couple of good players, now they're not anymore. Clearly,
he's already hit on the same page with DJ Moore.
Their rushing attack is gonna be well as much more balanced.
Cole Kamt is still a really good tight end. They've
surrounded Justin Fields with enough players for him to do
well offensively, and that's all that's missing, right because the Bears.
The Bears are never hey. They're in the very bottom

(22:41):
of the NFL defense wise. The Bears are always at
least adequate defensively. Sometimes they're elite, but they are always
added and they never lose because their defense is no good.
It's boy, we can't score points. Scamsca can't score points.
This year is gonna be a little bit different. It's
a bad division. And I don't mean the Bears are
gonna get out to you know, I'm gonna be fourteen
and three. They're not gonna be the Jets, but the
Bears to win that division.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
I just think it's a cannibalized division. I've actually got
the Packers winning the division. I think the Bears win
this week at home. That's not you know, Homer Pick,
that's just looking at as you lay it out. You
got three running backs you got. I don't know what
Chase Claypool is going to be like. He is the
biggest wildcard. Cole Comet had about a month period where

(23:22):
he was dominant. I just remember you and I talking
about him quite a bit two years ago when in
a number of big time circumstances, suddenly he had t
rex arms or hands that had what's the opposite of
stick them grease? I guess, butter grease grease grease grease.

(23:44):
He said, stick Um, I'm trying to say grease, so
like butter fingers instead, I mean, you know Clair, but
where that you know it's all glistening and just slide
and slide rather, you know you should hearse whatever whatever
else you need there. But Darnell Mooney, we've seen him
shine in the past, and DJ Moore and Fields obviously
got a nice rapport already. So I'm looking at a

(24:08):
team that is going to I've got him second in
the division. I think the Lions are third. When it's
all said and done, it's it's gonna be a much division. Yeah,
that's just it. I think you're looking at a ten
and seven is winning the division. Nobody's running it.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
All the teams are competitive. The pack the Packers we
better than you think they're going to be. The Lions
are going to be good. The Vikings were good last year.
I mean they're just not the shiny new toy anymore.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Where any close game they lost last year it went
the other way. Somewhere in between, right, And is Alexander
Madison a guy that's gonna hold up for seventeen weeks?

Speaker 4 (24:42):
He better I got him. I got him in the
I got him.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
He better hold up. Dalvin Cooks on your jets now,
So now it's Madison who's had some injury history but
has shown pretty well in spots. But can he do
it for a full year? I don't know. And alongside
Justin Jefferson, you got him and you got you got Hockinson, right,
so you got two receivers and Captain Kirk another one

(25:07):
of those guys that's playing for this year. I mean
all the guaranteed money he's had, he's now in his
mid thirties, he's got the fu Man chew rock and
all of those good things. But you know, is this
his last year? Do they start to think about moving on?
I just think it's a great cannibalized division. And this
one you're getting two hundred and twenty seven dollars. All right,

(25:29):
that's okay. It's not quite Taylor Swift, but okay, it's
a nice price.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Though.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Well it's in his opening week. It is the end,
that's all you think.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
See. I always said they don't need to do this
week one. This is where you give us the matchup
she would normally send to London because people are gonna
watch no matter what the hell you put out there,
so made for did you see some of these matchups
they tried. Eventually, gotta have some good They tried with
some of these matchups, man, I mean serious, they tried,
They tried level. I mean, you got the battle for

(25:58):
Ohio right off the jump. Okay, outside of Ohio. Who cares?

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Is Cincinnati gonna win that game as long as Joe
Burrow plays by touchdowns?

Speaker 3 (26:05):
I don't know. People keep trying to tell me how
great Deshaun Watson's gonna be again because the rust is going.
What do they do it?

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Because you talk about the first three games we've talked
about that that are on the schedule are all interdivisional matchups? Right, Panthers, Falcons,
come on, Bengals, Browns, Jaguars, Colts, I mean Jack's Colts.
Is you know that should be on Thursday night? I
mean really, that should be on Thursday night. Buccaneers, Vikings, Yeah, Titans,
Saints all right, then you get to Cardinals, Commanders all right,

(26:34):
Texans Rams, Hey, hey, the Commanders alone. So half of
the games are ye, these are games happy week one.
The other half I'm telling you we have real We
have a really good schedule for a week play. We
have much better games that are more interesting than you
would think.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
In Week one two hundred and two, dollars to go
see the Eagles play at Foxborough. Is this the Eagles
the band or Eagles the team? No, Timothy B. Schmidt,
I don't think is gracing the state. Timothy B.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
Schmidt, Don Henley, Vince Gill, Vince Gill, Vince Gill. Really
he's a.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
Full time member the Fils and the Eagles since since
Glenn Fry passed away.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
He did with them. And now if you said Vince
Glenn Fry's kid too, right and Fry yeah, wow, really
it's a good sound.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Vince Gill, Well, the Eagles were always a little bit
country anyway, this sound was a little bit country like
he he.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Was performing with them during some illness times. It's such
and such, and then he became a full time member.
The last part of the tour.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Did they start all the concerts but Jalen Hurts gets
on stage and they open up his jersey and that
says Hulule has live sports.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Is that that open?

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:41):
I don't know that whether Vince Gill sings give me
one last chance before you say we're through or any
of that stuff that made him a big star, all right,
but he's he's a full member the Eagles. Member. I
did not know that. I don't know that he gets
a full share. I mean this might be like, okay,
a right, he asked afore go media writes for a
couple of years.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
But he is part of the band founding members. Right
here we get full shares down here bottom guys that
have joined you get less than a full share.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
But I mean he can hit a lot of the
notes that Glenn fry did. Is all right? So no,
I'm with you. I believe you on that. No, Vince
Gill's great singer. I did not know. I did not
know that.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
I did not know that.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Well, see, I'm adding value. So we come back through town,
we can see Do you think you in.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
To see the Eagles? I have seen the Eagles, but
i'd see him again.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Sure, Yeah, dude, you know Glenn the name of Glenn
Fryes kid who's in the band. I think you're an
Eagles fan? Hey, you know what you're in the band?
I would pay to see Johnny Ramos do a little peaceful,
easy feeling.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
I would too. So let's go.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
We're at TJ. Clearly the concert will be in Winslow, Arizona.
All right, Uh, let's find out what's trending right now
in the wide world of sports, because Kevin Wyret's like,
what the hell is this show doing right now?

Speaker 3 (28:58):
So let's find out some scores and what.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
I like the unpredictability of things, though ketil My toes so.
Breaking news in the NBA free agent forward slash center
Christian Wood has agreed on a two year deal with
the Los Angeles Lakers. That's according to ESPN and The
Athletic The deal does include a player option. Bolter's a
Lakers depth down low. The Chiefs in a little bit

(29:20):
of trouble ahead of their Thursday night opener against the
Detroit Lions on Thursday, as they might be without Travis
Kelcey and he Reid said he hyper extended his knee
in practice today in multiple outlets, saying that the Chiefs
do believe that he did avoid a serious injury and
his ACL is still intact. However, Kelsey does have inflammation
in his knee and the Chiefs do want to test

(29:40):
him out tomorrow to determine whether he can go on
Thursday or nine. And to make matters worse, Chris Jones
unlikely to play. That's according to NFL Network Andy Reid
did say earlier today that there was no progress on
a deal that could potentially have him end his holdout.
And in Major League Baseball, we have couple of games
in action right now. Most everything has gone final. Orioles

(30:03):
leading the Angels to nothing. They're in the top of
the seventh inning in Anaheim, no show Heyo Tani. Tonight,
Rockies leading the Diamondbacks three to two. They're in the
top of the seventh inning. Out in the Desert, Blue
Jays shutting out the Athletic six nothing. In Oakland, Padres
with a sudden nothing lead over the Phillies. They are
going to the bottom of the eighth inning. The logjam
at the top of the Al West has been broken.

(30:24):
Astros beat the Rangers fourteen to one. Jose L Tuvi
was three home runs in his first three at bats
and counting his final at bat in the game last night,
had four home runs in four consecutive at bats, and
he leads the Rangers to a fourteen to one win.
That breaks a logjam. Because the Seattle Mariners felt in
the red seven to six, that puts them a game behind,
and of course, with the Rangers losing, they're now two behind.

(30:47):
In the Al West.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Everything was great for the Mariners, and they ran into
the Mets, and look what happened.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
They can't win, Well, they caught win. They caught whatever
the Mets had. Cubs beat the Giants eleven to eight.
They're able to keep pace with the Milwaukee Brewers. After
the Brewers beat the Pirates seven to three, Marlin's over
the Dodgers sixty three, raise top the Red Sox and
extra innings eight to six, and the Twins over the

(31:13):
Guardians eight to three. Back to you guys, Thanks a bunch,
k appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Is this a theme song?

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Too?

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Well, it's not a television show from the seventies, but
it's a band called Pure Prairie League and the lead
singer and the song is Vince Gill.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Wow. You going back in the archives for this one? Yep,
that's where we're.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Going, all right? What they were also?

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Amy? That is correct, that's big.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
Right now, Alex Tyscher is listening on his night off
and his face is melting.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Why I don't understand.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
I guess this is not an ty shirt musical.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Oh no, no, okay, because it's it's before twenty seventeen,
so yeah, that's yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Well, I try to correlate what you're talking about, to
try to that's why there's a purpose to what I do.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
You're prairie Oh Jay, this is a new battamist called
Single Cell Paramesa.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
Right, we love you Alex. Then I get tears for fears. Okay,
how it goes? He loves cheers for fears that I
do know, yes.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
Legitimately, but it's now become a thing of when can
he sprinkle? The beginning of Everybody.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Wants to Rule the world as just a question or
what the other two of their radio hits, shouts.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
And and uh not so into seeds of love?

Speaker 3 (34:28):
You know what he is?

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Sorry? Yeah that song?

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Now he does?

Speaker 3 (34:34):
You're the politics agreed.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Patrick's change it up and post me. Now I know
why Johnny Robinson work after for you.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Ruin shows.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Ruiner.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Now I'm gonna get that.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
So I have a.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Patrick also in his last night here at Fox Sports Radio,
he had a good run. Yeah, hey, get your resumes
in all right, Mike and I will be interviewing many, many.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Many Yes.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
So look, we're getting close to the regular season starts
on Thursday. We got big injury news to get to
coming up in about ten huge. But you know you've
asked me because all I've been doing is running my
mouth all year long.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
Just been Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets. Yeah, but it's really
those that have initiated to the show here at Fox
Sports Radio. First off, where the hell have you been?
But second, welcome in. Let me just give you a
little bit of a tip. For the last nine years
it really has been about the Jets anyway.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
This is just your eyes are a little wider, your
chest is buffed out a little bit more. Well, now
we're going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Now we have everything we need.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
We have Aaron Rodgers, we have we have the best
defense in the NFL, or top three defense.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I mean, they want to be the eighty five Bears.
We have the best of your kid.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
We got the best running back room.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
And again we got But I will be honest with you,
this is now.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
The best running back room in the game.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Sure we do, Sure we do. Dalvin Cook, Breese Hall, Michael,
you have the best running back room in the game.
Give me another, Give me another running back room that's
better than that. You're really gonna try to jam Michael
Carter in there.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
He's the third guy. He's pretty good just because he's
in the room. Yeah, he's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
He's a guy nobody nobody else Cook, give me beyond.
Bobby hasn't played. I love be John Robbinson haven't played
a game yet. He hasn't played a game, played the games.
He hasn't played the game yet. He hasn't played the game,
hasn't played a game, hasn't played.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Breese Hall may not playing Week one? Breese Hall playing
Week one? How well is he gonna play the Week one?
He's gonna run for one hundred and seventy five yard
offensive line.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Yes, they're not evenna.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Have to block for him. They're gonna, hey, go to
the backfield.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
He's gonna run around everybody against We don't even need
to block Mackay Beckham, just just go around me. I
don't want to get hurt, but no, honestly, because this
is the time where I get nervous. Because what's the
one thing I always say makes me nervous about the Jets.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
They can't handle success? Right there are the Jets.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
I mean just I mean they can handle success. And
all the talk the last few days has been lofty expectation.
Dalvin Cook I came here so we could go to
the Super Bowl, all of these things that teams normally
talk about, and then you had DJ read yesterday saying
we could have an eighty five Bears type impact this season,
Like all we have to do is go out and

(37:12):
execute right the other teams or other teams are doing,
doesn't matter. The Jets have never been able to handle.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Sunny Ryan's coming from beyond the Gravety kick his ass
right now.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Hey, buddy, Ryan was our defensive coordinator in nineteen sixty
nine we won the Super Bowl. So here's the deal,
is that this is when things get really when I
get the most nervous is when the Jets start thumping
their chest because for forty years, what have I told you?
They've not been able to handle success, regardless as head coach, quarterback,
offensive line, defensive line, defensive back, whatever, they have not

(37:44):
been able to handle success. Normally it's during the season
they win a couple of games, look how good we are,
and look, Joe, I'll just take last year for instance,
the Jets are forward two, Robert Sala saying I got receiveds,
people didn't believe in us. Look at us now we're
seven and four, and what happened?

Speaker 3 (37:57):
If he wins the Monday night, is he going to
start asking anybody if they're believers.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Or he's gonna pull up believe in believe, He's gonna
pull out one of those cvs receipts.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Look how long this received but have none scene? See
do you believe now? No, you're not a believer. Next question.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Normally for the Jets, it's after they actually win a
game or two and they start feeling it and they
lose because they can't handle success. Here is you're getting
ready to go into the season and you think we're
we're a super Bowl team, and if we just play
how we're supposed to, we're there. Like you want to
hit fast forward all the way through the season, and
while they have the team to do it. And I'm

(38:34):
telling you they're gonna smash the Bills on Monday night.
But you ask me what makes me nervous? Because I
get nervous. I'm not saying there's not an achilles la.
It's not to look out for. This is what it is.
The Jets have never been able to handle success. And
every time they start really thinking big of themselves, they
get cut down to size and the lows get really
low and they lose three four games. Roads what happened?

(38:54):
What's going on? We were so high and mighty last week.
We look how well we played in this game. That
has happened line for forty years. They've never been able
to handle success, and now here they are. Okay, I
get that, Hey, we realize there's responsibility, there's expectations. We
love eight eight's gonna do it for us?

Speaker 6 (39:11):
Eight eight.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
It's all year eight eight eight.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
Then I get DJ Reid saying, oh, I have an
eighty five Bears type season, and I go, oh my goodness,
oh my, that's what That's what makes all of a sudden,
my Peter Tingle just starts to go off and I'm like, oh,
something's up here. Now call it that police. Something's up here.
But that's what the Jets have never been able to
do that, and that's what I'm seeing right now.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
It's a new day yesterday, but it's an old day.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Now.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Can I get some Jet throw toe in for you?

Speaker 1 (39:35):
That's not a Toby Keith song. Now, I really think
all your your quotes are Toby Keith.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
I did get a good Toby Keith in one in
yesterday because I did run that line, because I did
a sprint because they kicked a ball during warm ups
that just sailed and I'm like, ah, going into a
middle of a game, so I sprint like a bat
out of hell, and people are like, Wow, you were moving.
I'm not as good as I once was good.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Ones.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
You gave it the fault, Toby Keith one, I've only
used it. That was the first time I used it
on them, Okays, it was new to them, like the
NBC sitcoms when they were in reruns in May. If
you didn't see it in the fall, it's new to you.
I used that line on them there. He didn't use
my favorite I'm a Ford truck man. I say that
next time when I'm steamrolling over somebody. But get satisfied.

(40:25):
But it's a new squad and a new quarterback at
the helm. Yeah, Robert Salas says some things, and these
guys are getting chesty. But I kind of dig it
because now you're putting yourself out there. You got to
go back it up. Poison pens will be out because
you are the Jets. No question about schedules, no picnic
off the jump, no now do I just talk about

(40:48):
this bet for a second. It gets paid off later
in the week because I'm thinking Monday is a brisket night.
I'll smoke some meat.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Monday's at brisket night. For you have the bills. I
have the Jets Yeah, Monday is it brisket night?

Speaker 3 (41:01):
No matter what, no matter what. So the bet we
paid off later on in the week, paid off later
in the week. All right, Okay. In other words, anybody,
you know, John, if you want to hang out with
this Monday night, you know you'll be fed. Wow. Look
at that. Look at that? I added value?

Speaker 1 (41:16):
Twitter at how about a fresco Mike, get swelling up.
You want to know what keeps me up at night?
That's what keeps me up at night. That's it right there.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Coming up next, we get a big injury of the
day in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
This is Fox
