he just came down awkward, potentially a hyper extended knee.
He walked off the field under his own power, so
that's good. A test on his ACL showed that it
is intact. This according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. So now
the question is is he going to play Thursday? Is

he going to play early in the season? Hyper extended knee?

Okay, potentially he might miss a couple of weeks. His
ACL is intact, which is the best news obviously, But
right now, it's gonna be hard for me to see

That's gonna be really difficult to say. Okay, let's put
you out there Thursday night. This is where the Chiefs
are going. Do we have to play Thursday? We could

How long he is out and Travis Kelcey were hoping
he comes back soon. The best tight end in the NFL,
best tight end in the last five years, guys going
to the Hall of Fame. Uh Patrick Mahomes has had
to play a grand total of one game without Travis Kelcey.

One game without Travis Kelcey.

All of the success, everything has not had to play
more than one game without Travis Kelcey. Travis Kelcey has
been very, very healthy for the vast majority.

throw the ball more than eight yards in the air,
and he's still putting up big numbers. But now you

have Mahomes who potentially could be without Kelsey for a
little while. That's the biggest part to me. I want
to see, is Mahobes still Mahobes without Kelsey in the
middle of the field, because we've seen him be Mahobes
without the other wide receivers, no matter who it was, Hey,
Tyreek kill all the other guys, makes no difference. But

is he still the same guy when Kelsey Man? I
can't believe Kelsey's open on that third doubt man. Kelsey
had that same route perfect man, Kelsey went between those
two guys and got that ball. That's the most interesting
thing to me is if he's out a while, is
Mahomes still Mahomes? Is Mahomes still greatest quarterback in the NFL?
Is he still this great? Is he still don't punch

me to don't touch me? Hey, I just want to
tell you, none of this is anybody. No, nobody's fault
in my orbit, right, this is just just happened on
the field, right, nobody's fault? Is this?

Is he still the same guy? That's the biggest question. Well, sure,

it's interchangeable running backs. Next guy up right, Clyde Edwards.

You don't know. But the wide receiving Corps pick your
poison on a week to week basis, right. We got
a bunch of teams. As you look at the twenty
twenty three season going, they might have a bunch of guys,
but we don't know who the guy is except the
tight end. Right, look at Baltimore, a bunch of guys.
RK Andrews, Mark Andrews isn't on the field. Everything goes
to hell. Same thing here. How much of the safety valve,

how much of all right I can put it in
his general direction? He's going to find a space like
Brady did with Gronkowski for all those years. It didn't
mean that the other guys Edelman and Welker and whatever
didn't have their moments and then the Randy moss Hears
or a whole other thing. But when Gronk was hurt
and not available, the entire offense had to shift. Right Now,

a lot more screen passes, whatever. So that's the creativity here,
So is it? Pacheco and Jack McKinnon touches the ball
what twelve times? Right, A lot of dump offs out
of the battlefield, a lot of him lining up in
the slot and trying to get creative that way. So
it's just moved the chains and then occasionally take the
big top off the defense. But yeah, this is really

going to be an interesting experiment, right, and the enemy's

offensive rooms. You know, take nothing away from the guys

could come right right in there. You can spread the
ball around a little bit. Now, let's say you just

big D one game. I mean, I'm just saying, I
know he's good. I always won super Bowls, But how
much do you like him? Because you know, my kid

I didn't think i'd say after that, But Deon Sanders
talked today after the college football polls came out, the
AP Poll and the Coaches poll. Colorado is twenty two
and twenty five in each of those poles. Respectively, and
Dion talked about having to win and the only way
we'll get respect.

And you know, did a lot of Deon Sanders type
talk today following their debut of the poll. It was
just not even what was it eight months ago? They
were finishing up a one win season, and it was
what was happening? And now here's what Dion has done.
In one week. Colorado goes to being ranked where they
were a team that was in the bottom of the
bower for the longest time. Now, I'll tell you one

thing that Dion has done, and this is this is now,
this isn't gonna be the fun part because Dion is
now going to start a lot of copycats because this
is something that we've never seen done before in college football,
because college football it's not an add water stir and hey,
instant team, right, you don't see that. Sometimes you say, well,
we need another year, coach, You've had eight years, you

haven't had one winning season.

We're just about to turn it around.

We just get into an area recruiting wise, and been
trying to get into for a while. He's done something
that no one has ever thought was possible or accomplished
before bringing in eighty seven new players, new systems, knew
everything and go out and show that, hey, we can
give you results right away.

Now, how good is TCU. That's that remains to be seen.
Number seventeen, we're in the title game, all of that stuff.

A lot of their best players are in the NFL now,
so they are, but here they are big game, hostile environment.
They go out and they win a big game. Now
you are going to see other schools say, hey, we're
gonna take advantage of all of this, let's spend a
lot of money to go get that magnetic coach that
we want to.

Think about it. They had to do some finaggling when
they offered him his deal, right, it's like, we're gonna
go find the money now, Yeah.

It's this is the template for the new tread. You
go out and get that coach you want, because now
you can just say, I don't care if you have
a contract. We're over spending.

Toget. You were going to give you one hundred and
twenty million dollars whatever it is. We've seen that.

Now you're going to pay you huge for the new
head coach. Bring it whoever you want. You want to
let these guys stay on scholarship. Great, you want to
let them go, let them go, whatever you want to do,
whatever you want to do, go do it. Now you're
going to see so many other schools, big schools, say, well,
it worked with Dion, Let's have it work with somebody else. Now,
we got to make sure it's somebody that comes in
that has a grasp of the current situation of college football.

And this is where Dion.

Is kind of a unicorn because he's the guy right
now that has his finger on the pulse of nil
and transfer portal and being able to recruit guys and
recruit dudes to come in come play for me company.
There's nobody who's a better recruiter right now in college
football than Deon Sanders, nobody. So he's gonna So they're
gonna other schools are gonna start this whole big copycat

We're gonna try it here, We're gonna try it. Say
at UCLA, We're gonna try at Oregon State, We're gonna
try it. I'm just throwing out schools.

Obviously, Juan was pretty good, but other schools are gonna
try this, and what they're going to realize is that, Oh,
we need that coach that's gonna bring the dudes in.
And how many coaches bring dudes in? Not even Brian
Kelly brings dudes in. Lincoln Riley brought dudes in. Okay,
we saw that, but not like this, bring any defense,
not like this. Well he's only an offensive coach, doesn't matter.

you saw dudes came in. Hey, we want to go
play for you in that offense. But here, but Deion Sanders,
everybody wants to go play for He can get any
recruit in the country, five.

Chicaga life. Nobody else is going to be able to

here and just knock us off and act like we're
just a supporting act in your in your game. We
don't like you, our coaches don't like you. It's really
hard and Dion's not gonna be able to get away
from it because this is who he is. You know,
I watched it with Rex Ryan with the Jets, is
that he treated every week like it was a super Bowl.

And when you lose a game, it's like losing three
games and that winds up, and that winds up cascading downhill.
College football, you can play with more emotion, but this
is now college football's become a fourteen to fifteen weeks
no longer eleven weeks, and then we go, this is
a long time, and you're spread out a long time.
If you play every week like it's the national championship.

Eventually it's too much for your players and they break.
You need some kind of workman like ways. Let's stay
down to business. Let's not worry about everything else going

concern is because he's always going to talk, and if

is wild to me. Josh, you know you need to
do what's right. He goes on to say, I can't
even get my GM on the phone.

They won't let me in the building.

If that's my head coach or GM, I would play
anywhere anywhere else.

He is not happy now.

As what normally happens after situations like this, social media
posts get taken down. However, the damage is done. Once
something goes up, people see it doesn't matter if it's up,
but it's dab the damage. Like when someone gives up five

thing to me is if he's out a while, is
Mahomes still Mahomes? Is Mahomes still greatest quarterback in the NFL?

RK Andrews, Mark Andrews isn't on the field. Everything goes
to hell. Same thing here. How much of the safety valve,

how much of all right I can put it in
his general direction? He's going to find a space like
Brady did with Gronkowski for all those years. It didn't
mean that the other guys Edelman and Welker and whatever
didn't have their moments and then the Randy moss Hears
or a whole other thing. But when Gronk was hurt
and not available, the entire offense had to shift. Right Now,

a lot more screen passes, whatever. So that's the creativity here,
So is it? Pacheco and Jack McKinnon touches the ball
what twelve times? Right, A lot of dump offs out

talked today after the college football polls came out, the
AP Poll and the Coaches poll. Colorado is twenty two
and twenty five in each of those poles. Respectively, and
Dion talked about having to win and the only way
we'll get respect.

And you know, did a lot of Deon Sanders type
talk today following their debut of the poll. It was
just not even what was it eight months ago? They
were finishing up a one win season, and it was
what was happening? And now here's what Dion has done.
In one week. Colorado goes to being ranked where they
were a team that was in the bottom of the
bower for the longest time. Now, I'll tell you one

thing that Dion has done, and this is this is now,
this isn't gonna be the fun part because Dion is
now going to start a lot of copycats because this
is something that we've never seen done before in college football,
because college football it's not an add water stir and hey,
instant team, right, you don't see that. Sometimes you say, well,
we need another year, coach, You've had eight years, you

haven't had one winning season.

We're just about to turn it around.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
We just get into an area recruiting wise, and been
trying to get into for a while. He's done something
that no one has ever thought was possible or accomplished
before bringing in eighty seven new players, new systems, knew
everything and go out and show that, hey, we can
give you results right away.

Now, how good is TCU. That's that remains to be seen.
Number seventeen, we're in the title game, all of that stuff.

A lot of their best players are in the NFL now,
so they are, but here they are big game, hostile environment.
They go out and they win a big game. Now
you are going to see other schools say, hey, we're
gonna take advantage of all of this, let's spend a
lot of money to go get that magnetic coach that
we want to.

Think about it. They had to do some finaggling when
they offered him his deal, right, it's like, we're gonna
go find the money now, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
It's this is the template for the new tread. You
go out and get that coach you want, because now
you can just say, I don't care if you have
a contract. We're over spending.

Toget. You were going to give you one hundred and
twenty million dollars whatever it is. We've seen that.

Now you're going to pay you huge for the new
head coach. Bring it whoever you want. You want to
let these guys stay on scholarship. Great, you want to
let them go, let them go, whatever you want to do,
whatever you want to do, go do it. Now you're
going to see so many other schools, big schools, say, well,
it worked with Dion, Let's have it work with somebody else. Now,
we got to make sure it's somebody that comes in
that has a grasp of the current situation of college football.

And this is where Dion.

Is kind of a unicorn because he's the guy right
now that has his finger on the pulse of nil
and transfer portal and being able to recruit guys and
recruit dudes to come in come play for me company.
There's nobody who's a better recruiter right now in college
football than Deon Sanders, nobody. So he's gonna So they're
gonna other schools are gonna start this whole big copycat

We're gonna try it here, We're gonna try it. Say
at UCLA, We're gonna try at Oregon State, We're gonna
try it. I'm just throwing out schools.

Obviously, Juan was pretty good, but other schools are gonna
try this, and what they're going to realize is that, Oh,
we need that coach that's gonna bring the dudes in.
And how many coaches bring dudes in? Not even Brian

we saw that, but not like this, bring any defense,
not like this. Well he's only an offensive coach, doesn't matter.

Only coaches that offense, oskay, but he brought dudes in. Right,
you saw dudes came in. Hey, we want to go
play for you in that offense. But here, but Deion Sanders,
everybody wants to go play for He can get any
recruit in the country, five.

You said buddy guy, he recruited buddy guy. You just
said buddy guy. Yeah, buddy guy. But guy, look, imagine
Chicaga life. Nobody else is going to be able to

Right now, we've talked about you were talking unicorns and no, no,

Yeah. When we break this all down and what's transformed,
we talked about it a lot, right, the optics. You
didn't like the optics of what he did with the
the kids and what went public in terms of saying, hey,
you're all gonna get up out of here, uh hit

and the honesty of it. And that's the guy we've
known since he came into our existence back at Florida State,
right when he was on the campus at Tallahassee. It's
the same guy, same guy that dump water over Tim mcgaroth.
So he's got very thin skin, so he's gonna hear
and you know, the antenna's up for everything. You saw
what he did to Ed Werder, you know with this

He became the guy knows what sells. You knows, no,
but that's the thing, right you want to talk about
And look, this will become front page news for him.
It's like, you know, he's p T. Barnum And now
it's like what's behind the curtain? And we saw week one.
Is Travis Hunter gonna be able to do this for

six weeks? Yeah?

No, I'm full on, no, I'm just seeing that could
be a whole thing. Dion is pt Barnum and all the.

Players come in doing all these crazy things. Yeah, I
kind of kind of that's an idea for college football,
open for the big News. If we could feed it
through AI and get that created before the night big
dude kickoff. Uh No, But but to that point, right,
the recruiting part was all you're always gonna have the
end because mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, anybody else

that that's been around a minute knows who he is.

No, you go play for Dion, but I like, I
don't care, Okay, but then.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
You get to go see it live and in the
in color of how much fun these kids has. Yeah,
the speed with which they play, what Lewis has on
the offense, and the accuracy of Sanders, well you won't
get to play with him because he'll be in the NFL.
But the idea of this offense that's gonna be fast paced.
We're gonna put up points, you're gonna have fun, you're
gonna get your touches, and you're gonna be on national
(24:21):
TV every damn week. Every week is going to be
a showcase for you to go make money. And I
l go all this, all of that's there.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
I mean, you saw it after the game, like ASDA
was sagging, every TCU player ran over to try to
get it. You know, I gotta get out. Last year
was great Max Dougan and Quentin Johnson. He's gonna get
anybody wants, right, anybody wants.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
But as long as the success on the field, and
Bucky Brooks and I talked about this a little bit
Sunday morning, is you know once you show that, yeah,
there's winning that comes with it. All the other stuff
is already there, the recruiting part because he's gonna win
you over, no question about it. He's going to be
straight with you because right we saw that brutally with people.

Uh yeah, is he going to be brash and is
he going to take everything as a slight? Oh? The
great ones generally do right, Generally that find a way
to push it.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
But but you know, but you say that, and that
gets to this is my only feel or the one
issue I see for Colorado because they've I don't think
anybody thought Dion was going to fail. It was just
is he going to succeed this quickly? Because I've never
seen it before, how fast they've arrived earlier. The the
only issue that he's going to have and trust me
on this, because this is going to be It doesn't

matter what kind of coach you are, is that you
can't coach every week like it's the super Bowl, right
and and that's the thing, and that's what that's my
one concern for Colorado and Dion is that every week
is so full of emotion. It's so fun of everybody
is disrespecting us. It's so full of we got to
get out there and go kick ass. It's full of
(26:05):
every other team going, we are gonna give you our
bleep and best you think you're you're gonna come in
here and just knock us off and act like we're
just a supporting act in your in your game. We
don't like you, our coaches don't like you. It's really
hard and Dion's not gonna be able to get away
from it because this is who he is. You know,
I watched it with Rex Ryan with the Jets, is
that he treated every week like it was a super Bowl.
(26:27):
And when you lose a game, it's like losing three
games and that winds up, and that winds up cascading downhill.
College football, you can play with more emotion, but this
is now college football's become a fourteen to fifteen weeks
no longer eleven weeks, and then we go, this is
a long time, and you're spread out a long time.
If you play every week like it's the national championship.
(26:48):
Eventually it's too much for your players and they break.
You need some kind of workman like ways. Let's stay
down to business. Let's not worry about everything else going
on outside. But that's not Dean, And that's why my
concern is because he's always going to talk, and if
three days go by, it no one sees, go, I'm
gonna say something outlandish because no one said anything about
me in three days.

Well that's my one concern. But there's the thing, right,
is that you know the reason that folks were asking
how long can this take? Like we all were at
rapt attention right front of our seats. All right, let's
see how this works. Right, It's like Otani and the
unicorn status in baseball, as you refer to before or

Hunter now playing both both ways things you haven't seen
in either a very long time or ever. Can you
keep the energy up or you only singing when you're winning?
Because remember, the more you the journalists and in our business,
I kind of there's capital j's for a few guys
and everybody else is a small J. Because it's somewhere

in between that the poison pens are going to be
ready should things turn on your squad, the more chesty
you get and the more you try to say, are
you a belief and try to say, hey, be a
cheerleader and recognize it's it's it's one game and it
was an impressive game. Nobody can take that away from you.
But it's not a season, right. This now has to

hold up over the course of time. Do you think
the guys in the TCU locker room after that game
looked at each other said how dumb were we trying
to get in a shootout with these guys when we
know they only have so much depth on their offensive
and defensive lines. But yes, let's go try to match
them big play for big play. They played Nebraska on Saturday,

Nebraska Nebraska's only score. The only score was not a
botch trick play, but they played Nebraska on Saturday. That
rule is probably gonna get his ass.

public gym to go work out, and he writes on
the page, I'm a top athlete with one hundred and
twelve sacks in the NFL. I gotta go to a
local gym to work out for no apparent reason. This

is wild to me. Josh, you know you need to
do what's right. He goes on to say, I can't
even get my GM on the phone.

They won't let me in the building.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
If that's my head coach or GM, I would play
anywhere anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
He is not happy now.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
As what normally happens after situations like this, social media
posts get taken down. However, the damage is done. Once
something goes up, people see it doesn't matter if it's up,
but it's dab the damage. Like when someone gives up five
runs to the top of the fifth to fifth iny
O says, well, top of the fifth ends, but the
damage has been done. Five runs here at the time
the damage has been done. Raider's gonna raider. Here's Chandler

Jones saying, I can't get into the gym. You're not

and other guys, and I can't get into the gym
to work out.

And every one of us that saw this story over
the course of the day said, what the hell is
going on here? Number one? Why are you contacting the
head coach about getting into the gym. Got a million
middlemen and women.

Well, apparently some other people aren't getting back to him,
so I got to go to the coach.

Just go straight up to a minute. He just mentions
the coach in GM conditioning coach position. Coach, I think
with the guy assistant to the traveling secretary. I mean
someone else. Why is my key card not working?

He's been I've been working all the way up and
now I'm up to Josh McDaniels.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
I've been working all the way up. Well, I'd love
to see that phone history if he was really going
through the organization. Guys, guys, guys, he's got.

A text text chain with Josh McDaniel's going, so you
know he's he's got his number.

Sure, so he's getting me. Look, you're gonna get the
uh the phone call list like you do for your chain,
you know, the chain call. Hey, practice canceled today, I
can't get into the gym. Hey you for the job.
Track's gonna be fifteen minutes later. Click make sure you
called Jenny, and then Jenny's gonna and they say you
have to take a half hour. Explain that to your kids.

Then Jenny's gotta call Susie. So what you're saying, get
a hold of Susie that she calls the next one.
But you gotta make notes that you could get a
hold of Susie.

So what you're saying is the Raiders could have solved

that have to have team moms or team that because
I don't want to deal with the scheduling or the

the high relationship with the parrots. That's you still have
that just like right here, if you're Josh McDaniels making
sure Chandler Jones could get into workout. That's coaching. That's right.
It's not call he plays, but it's still Core's. But
if I message, then yes, this is a guy that's
kind of instrumental to what you hope to accomplish. Unless

your hope is that he's just grundled enough you force
a trade and then you're in the Caleb Williams, Shader
Sanders or whoever else sweepstakes.
