(00:50):
for a coming up at about twenty minutes. Got some
hot takes coming up as we get set for the
beginning of the NFL season coming up tomorrow. A couple
of minutes from now, Mike and I will give you
our Super Bowl picks. Are official Super Bowl picks. They're
a little bit bananas, but why not. Neither of us

(01:10):
are picking Cleveland. I just want to say that but
just to for a couple of minutes on this because
this is something that look, people aren't going to be
happy to see the extras in the World Series. No,
they will not be. But it looks like that's what's
going to happen, like raised a friends here in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
No, no, no, on prospering. We have to you know,
have the dump button constantly depressed.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, this is literally a waste of air. No, no
one's no, one's gonna like it. But you look at
what they've been doing. They're peaking at the right time.
Well but they're still winning. But they're winning and they're
getting it. Do youet proof yet? Proof? Yeah? I do
you do? Yeah? You got you? Yeah? Let me see, lord,
let me hear it. Let me hear the proof.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
The evidence before the court is incontrovertible evidence.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
It is Roger waters eightieth birthday. There's a evidence right now.
That was good. That was good. If it's not Astros
Braves in the World Series, then something is wrong the Astros.
You talk about peaking at the right time. What they
did the Texas Rangers the last three games should be illegal.
They win this series at Texas thirteen to six, fourteen

(02:22):
to one and tonight twelve to three. Verlander, I can't
even say outdueling Max Scherz or Crucures or got Sheld.
That's a bludgeting or a blodger or whatever you got. Yeah,
this is outscoring the Rangers thirty nine to ten in
this three game series. And look, you could say it's
a three game series some three. Once in a while,

(02:42):
a three game series is a really big deal. Look,
the Mets season ended when they went into Atlanta and
they lost three games that they had a three run
lead or more in every game, and they lost all
three of those games, and their tailspin started there. That
was a big three game series. This series two text
has been in first place all season long, despite the

(03:03):
fact no de Gram doesn't matter, they make the move
for Surezer. Their offense is incredible. Where do they sit
right now? Three games out of first and outside of
the playoff picture? Like this is one of This is
one of those season ending three game series where can
you bounce back from this? I mean, look, baseball is
predicated on the every day and being able to not
put too much stock in what happened the night before,

(03:24):
and momentum me as good as your next day starting pitching.
But sometimes three game series are bigger deals. And I
don't know what Texas are gonna have. They get. They
get the Padres coming up, so there is that, But
I don't know what they have coming up after getting
just beaten like a drum in these last three. That's
Sea drums. That's good. I don't know what you have left.

(03:44):
And here go the Astros showing you, man, we're the champs.
We're still the champs or just as good as last year,
and we're probably getting out of the American League again.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, I mean, Frostburg's concerns, I mean certainly will be
heard three thousand miles away from where we are back
in New York. Because when you start putting up numbers
like this, now everybody's getting healthy, you're lined up, it
looks like what you thought it might when you open
the season. You had guys missing chunks of time, and

(04:13):
let's face it, Al Tuve suddenly is on a ridiculous tear.
Alvarez is Homer. The last couple of games, you've gotten healthy. Yeah,
you bolstered your rotation and you're starting to get some
arms back there as well, and stretching those guys out
for the final couple of weeks. But yeah, you look
at the Congo line, right, it's the gashouse guerrillas going

(04:34):
up against bugs.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Bunny just going around Basebugs, Bunny second Basebugs, Bundy third Basebug, Buddy.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Congo line around the bases here, and you know, it's
that reckoning that we've been waiting on all season long
for them to get right and to start hitting. All
of a sudden, you start looking at the overall numbers.
It's one of those beautiful things you do in baseball.
It's like, oh, this guy struggled. It's like, you know,
the Julio Rodriguez two weeks that he had, Yeah, having okay,

(05:01):
all right, fine, and now all of a sudden, all right,
the numbers are on part with what he finished with
last year.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Right.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
You can have one of those streaks that get you there,
and as a team, you can get on a hot
streak at just the right time to not only capture
the attention, but to propel you past your fading angels
where you've actually got a body double for show Hao
Tony and a team photo.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I tried pointing that out. It it's only the team photo.
We know, we do, we know so far as we know,
we know. They haven't tried this earlier.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
This SI.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
I mean, look, all right, this could be the old
trick you saw on Many. I mean, it's the parent
trap all over. Maybe this is how he winds up
getting that big contract. You have the body double. Hey,
look his arm looks great. He's live. Man, he's starting
like ninety eight ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
That looks great. Can I go talk to him? No?

Speaker 1 (05:52):
No, no, stay in the stands, Stay in the said,
why did you have a mask on? Not just stay's fine,
he's fine, he's where you know covid. He's fine. Don't
worry about don't worry. Just don't still close to him.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
You really have a team going to the World Series
that's one game over five hundred at home.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Dude, It's not about this is about me. This is
about the Astros peaking at the right time. A team
that's won champions and they don't need to have the
greatest record in the they this is a team that
has everything they needed. They added Verlander at the deadline.
They were the champions last year and they got better
and now they're playing the baseball they need to play
going into October, telling you man, Astros braves, Astros Braves,

(06:30):
that's where it looks like Twitter, and how about a fresco.
Mike has swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike har It is time for Mike and
I to give you our official Super Bowl picks for
this season. Now, you know we like to pick the
AFC and NFC championship games. Well I will. Yeah, I

(06:51):
kind of jumped the shark a little bit on that
the last couple of months because if you listened to
the show, you know that I'm picking the Jaguars for
the AFC Championship game, up picking the Giant for the
anti championship game. Oh yeah, both teams are terrific. The
Jaguars playing a really bad division. Trevor Lawrence is ascending,
the team is loaded. The Giants. People are sleeping on them.
The only thing the Giants need, the most well coached

(07:13):
team in the NFL, the only thing they needed was
better offense, better weapons on offense. They went and got
like seven new guys in the offseason, you know how
much I like the Jaguars and the Giants for the
conference championship games. However, in the Super Bowl, and I
mean it, it's a little bananas, but I haven't done

(07:33):
this in twenty years.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. It's been twenty years the Super Bowl. You
were so fine, eat healthy. I eat healthy a lot,
mister smart guy. I'd help you a lot.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
I talky candy corn, candy can and syrup. Do you
have syrup? Yeah, it's it's spaghetti. It's spaghetti. Uh give
me the Jets and the Lions for the Super Bowl
and hell freezes over the next day. Look, why not?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Looks out there? Like we talked about, the only reason
people are anti Jets is because I just I'm sick
of I'm sick of the storyline. I'm sick of people
in the media being Jets fans. I just thought the
Jets have a top three in the NFL roster, and
they have the quarterback they need to be able to
get to the Super Bowl. They have everything they need

(08:39):
on this team. If you don't like him, it's just
because personally I don't want them to win. Sorry, it's
not how it works. The Lions are loaded. This offense
is loaded. It may take them a little bit to
deal with expectation not having Jamison Williams the first five
weeks or so, but when he comes back, you watch
how this offense takes off. Jamier Gibbs is going to

(09:01):
be a home run threat for this team. Saint Brown
is a terrific wide receiver. You have lots of guys
out there. You know Sam Laporta, your guy, you like
him him to do great things. This offense is loaded,
and you only need your defense to be average, only
your defense to be great. When you have an offense
like that, you just need them to be average. It'll
be the first few games to deal with expectations because

(09:22):
lines of expectations. But yes, the other teams are really
good in the NFC. But man, this Lions offense is
a break neck speed offense. Lions, Giants, NFC Championship Game, Lions.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
I mean, if I'm going Jets in the Super Bowl,
Lions in the Super Bowl, Jets, Lions atarchy across the
United States. No, that is absolute cast. I still have
the Packers winning the North, so your Lions will have
to win it coming out of a wildcard slot in
my world, and they won't. Dan Campbell, it's fine because
it doesn't matter. Can no analogies speeches. They one Week's

(10:00):
seventeen in Green Bay when they had to win to
make the playoff, a game that nobody thought they can win.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Well, that was a big.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Example of Aaron Rodgers being unable to come up clutch.
That was a big deal for them last year, which
is not both well for you, my friend, it is
not Baron Rodgers on a better team than he was
last year, a much better you know, he showing up
to camp and actually worked with the guys and not
having to play ketchup for not till Keane.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
He's trying now he wasn't trying last Yeah, he's also
and he sees UFOs. That's just the side of Sam
Darnell seeing ghosts, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Kind I kind of liked the five minute UFO story
on Hard Knocks House Works. I like that. I like that, Hey,
what do we have there's no games? What do you mean? No?
It does no more? I thought no over there, Hey, Aaron,
I know we haven't let you really say crazy stuff.
All year, you've been a leader and you've been saying
really fun things. Better, we'll let you do that five
minute Sorry about seeing the UFO. Oh great, all right, great,
I'm glad to let me do that. Fantastic, No, it's good.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Look now in the NFC, I'm looking at the Giants
like you're actually told by Super Bowl. I've got the
Jaguars and the Giants. But let's back Jacks, Giants, super Bowl,
Now the Jaguar. I mean, let's go to the NFC
side first, right for the Giants. Love what dabel does.
Team that we watched it. Remember when Flores was over
in Miami. Now it didn't work out long term circumstances,

(11:22):
still trying to figure out exactly all what all went
down there, But the players wanted to play for him, right,
They were a little ways away from putting it together,
and we'll see if they can this year in a
crowded division. But when we look at Dabele and the Giants,
you're achieving. Now you add Hyatt, Now you add Paris Campbell,
Now you add Darren Waller. You've got weapons for Daniel Jones.

(11:44):
In addition to you made Saquon Barkley hole and he's
there and ready to roll. So liking the squad there.
So I've got the Giants on the other side, I've
got the Seattle Seahawks part of your worst nightmare as Gene. Oh, Gen,
you know he's got three wide receiver, he's got two
running backs, he's got everything he needs for this offense

(12:05):
to go and start humming out of the gate. Right
when you add Jackson Smith and Jigba when you already
have Lockett and DK Metcap. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good. Hey,
there's Zach Charbonay behind the guy and Kenneth Walker who
ran over people last year. Feeling pretty good. And I
don't think the forty nine ers. They're around, they're in
the playoffs, but physically do they hold up? Do their

(12:29):
stars all come out to play when the lights are
brightest in January? Are they there and available?

Speaker 2 (12:34):
I say not, just.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
As long as I don't have to watch Geno Smith
versus Sam Darnold in the NFC Championship Game. No, No,
I had going out or can't have that, OK, I
can't have that. On the other side, Jacks ex Jets
quarterbacks playing to go to this would be kind I
almost did that team just to see your head explode.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Look, I love the Ravens. A lot of shares, you know,
I'm being very transparent here, a lot of fantasy shares
and Lamar Jackson in Monkin's offense with all the weapons
they brought in after DaCosta and black Men and everybody
started having their slap fights about what kind of wide
receiving core they had there. No, I think it works.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
JK. Dobbins in line for a big year, and obviously
Mark Andrews is still the top guy. I don't even
know what I'm getting for Modell Beckham Junior. He's a
bonus in this scenario, right because you have his Z
eight flowers as well, Jaguars best of a bad division. Yeah,
the Path of Least Resistance, and the fair haired boy
ready to make some noise with Calvin Ridley and a

(13:35):
dual headed backfield where we get to say the name
Tank Bigsby like he's a fictional hero in the Marvel universe.
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon my Upside special got to play The Night
Coming Your Way in a couple of minutes. But we
saw the end of Hard Knocks, all right. We saw
the final episode last night and the big highlight was
Aaron Rodgers telling a four minute story about how he
once saw UFO. Yeah. Look, everything that's gone on, we

(14:13):
told you was gonna happen before it did. Right, The
Jets were going to be fine on Hard Knocks. Rogers
was going to love it because it was give him
a chance to show this is who I am and
revamp and redo his personality and as he gets set
for whatever he wants to do after football, and we
also saw how much he loves the Jets, how happy

(14:34):
he is. I really wasn't happy in Green Bay. That's
all the bad. We saw all this, we told you,
and as people be able to figure it out as
the episodes have gone on, congratulations, Yeah, I mean we do.
Some some are not the super sleuths and I are.
You're right, and it happens, you know, it happens before
we you know, we see the shows and then after
the show. I kind of get that, So we told you.

(14:55):
But the thing that worked for Hard Knocks because it
wasn't quite the normal hard knocks because the Jets wouln't
allow them to show players getting cut. It was a
lot of Aaron Rodgers, and let's face it, Rogers being
the story that he is. That's what made it work.
If that's anybody else besides Aaron Rodgers, this is one
of the one of the worst seasons ever. If it's
just Zach Wilson trying to figure it out, oh boy.

(15:17):
If it's a lot of other teams, you're not getting
any sort of drama with their quarterbacks, any other quarterback
that is not playing in the preseason because they don't play.
If it's Mahomes, it's boring. If it's Jalen Hurts, it's boring.
But the reason it works, and this is gonna seem
as a shock, I didn't think it was that hot
to take when we talked about it earlier. But Aaron

(15:37):
Rodgers it works because he's the biggest star in the NFL.
He's not the best player, but he is the biggest star.
He's a bigger star than Patrick Mahomes. He's a bigger
star than Jalen Hurts. He's a bigger star than anybody
else in the league. Is he the best player? No,
he's not. He's still an upper level quarterback. He's not
as good. Is he still as good as Joe Burrow?
Is he still as good as Josh Allen? He's the

(15:58):
biggest star. His name stirs conversation like it has been
for the last three years, the two year dance with
Green Bay and the trade to the Jets. Every day
there's Aaron Rodgers content for three years now, Brady is retired,
at least allegedly. Aaron Rodgers is the biggest star in
the NFL and that's not gonna change again. Not the best,

(16:19):
but he's the biggest star. No, it's the curiosity.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
I'd put him up against Mahomes, but I guess you know,
it's all beauty in the eye of the beholder, because
Mahome's not showing up on a bunch of news channels
with anything he's said or done, or even when his
wife or brother did stuff. I mean, that's not making
news on the morning shows or whatever else. Now, Aaron

(16:42):
Rodgers cut through in a lot of ways. Image, rehabilitation
one oh one, here, hard knocks, and everything that he's
done to become the hero of the New York Football Jets,
from the greatest tourists that we've ever seen in New York,
New Jersey to the I love all of my teammates,
whether they're twenty one or thirty eight like me.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Thirty nine, thirty nine, thirty nine.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Well that guys no matter where they are, and they
continue them. I can communicate with them. Look at me,
and you know, Patrick Mahomes does have don't hit me,
don't punch me.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Don't don't punch me, dude, Just don't punch me. Just don't.
We got that going. Don't punch me, dude.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
And I mean, and he's still a pitch man. Aaron
Rodgers lost that commercial.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, he'll get gone, he'll get more the discount double
check what you think? Do you think he gets something
now for well, I don't know. Can you do a
UFO commercial? I don't know. Can you monetize that? Well,
I monetize UFO. I mean the government did say that
we do have UFOs out there, but can you monetize it? Though,
I don't. Nobody cared about that. Well, we kind of
need to see something, we say, But even just the admission,

(17:48):
everybody's just going hey, because there's so much else that
we people are dealing with. I think if we had UFO's,
everybody like, eh, you're not tricking me. I think if
we can see the stuff, maybe we'll feel a little
bit better, like we could like an in Dependence Day.
Oh there's an area area fifty one there, that's where
they're keeping all the aliens. Bill Pullman is the air
and yeah, sure they.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Better get those commercials in before we too. If you
know what I mean, all the stop, he's gonna have
all kinds of new responses. NA exact, exact time out
for the Play of the Night. Brought to you by
Progressive Insurance. It is the play of the night. Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi policy discount
by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more all

(18:27):

dot com. Well, when you have a big series with
first place in your division on the line, and you
win all three games by a collective score of thirty
nine to ten, well it's pretty easy one of your
big hits gets to be the play of the night.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Here it is driven a left field. Did he do it?

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Did he do it Ytsy Dad Slam Jose seven Frostburger.
Is there a credit for that?

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a cheating scumbag radio.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
How do you feel Astros Radio Network on the call?

Speaker 4 (19:15):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I was. He had a lot of time off. It's
been stewing, you know. But here's the thing though, since
twenty seventy they played in Texas and they still scored
thirty nine runs. I think they're still pretty good. Telling
you get ready, I know you don't want to see it.
Get ready for the Astros in the World Series. Yeah, Astros, Braves,
get ready? How do you feel about that? Like last

(19:37):
year when I didn't root for the Astros, but I
really wasn't rooting for the Phillies. I'm not rooting for
the Astro to get there again. Really am not rooting
for the Braves. Okay, I understand that because somebody from
the nlast is going to win the World Series again
and it's not the Mets. Ben Mallers Next Fox
