and tomorrow. Happy NFL Eve, NFL Eve twenty three, NFL
twenty three eight, NFL NFL. I'm trying to figure out
like that Dick Clark New Year's Rocking Eve, Like like
NFL Rocking Eve twenty Three's good. I like that NFL

(01:14):
Eve twenty three. Who's gonna play NFL twenty three? Is
it Tears for Fear? No, No, it's got to be.
It's got to be a band, you know, stop stop
tight shirts? Back everybody, everybody's back. The band is back together.
Frostburg's back from his three and a half week vacation.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Now he's getting ready for this season.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Ain't like twenty pounds of muscle. He's like a Hercules.
Over he did, He's a Hercules.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
He's actually going to start for the Dodgers on on Friday,
so they hopefully show.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Yeah, well we only need to get him to the
fifth because Dave Roberts will then pull him just on
principle anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
But but I, but I do want to also say
the musical stylings last night with Johnny Ramos in for
Alex tyshirt were really wonder They were absolutely wonderful.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Well, it was night and day.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
You had Johnny Ramos shirt chunk, and then he tapped
out and then it really went in a whole other direction.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Now what, We're a big family here at Fox Sports
right now. Sometimes we weave a rich time.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
I don't know, but we had we had music from Crossroads,
not the Britney Spears movie.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
We had we had a little David Lee Roth. Last
night I went down, it was last night was well.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I mean, what was different about I'm trying to think
what I can't put my finger on. I can't. I'm
trying to put I can't. I can't figure it out.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
No, it was a lot of positivity.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
I mean, look, there's a vast array of positivity. I
mean because Johnny Ramos comes in and tysher it's the
same way, right, there's a lot of smiles. There's a
lot of like good feeling of hey, how are you,
how are the kids? Everything going all right? And look
for john Ramos, it was a first for him actually
working at night.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Uh huh yeah, yeah, right.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
You were afraid he wouldn't have the eyesight or acumen
to drive in the dark, I don't know, suddenly turn
into a were wolf. I mean you didn't know what
was gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Yeah. I said, hey, what's the difference between this show
and all your other shows? He goes, this show's funny.
I was like, hey, that was pretty good.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
We did Oh, I think we pieced that off too,
so that that'll be the something.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
But yes, we have made it to NFL eve to
seventy three remaining.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Baby, let's go. We are ready to go. We are
ready to go. You're very excited. I was trying to
get an extra one. We'll give you. Well, they may,
they may add an extra game. You never know. They
may add an extra one because, hey, they may. I
counted that last preseason. But the Jets proved to be
such a huge draw. Hey, we gotta have them play
an extra game because it's just so great watching them
play football. Let's give them an extra game.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Boy, you mean like when we sit here on Monday
night eating brisket and caso and watching them lose.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
The only reason I'm cooking watch you.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
I'm trying to at least give you a good meal
watching it when you watch a.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Terrible shit watching a Bible.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
When the Jets they say, hey, how about you play
the CFL All Stars in a game? Sure, there you go,
Jets and a bye week on Friday night.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, I don't know. They might call up the Colorado.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Aaron Rodgers on that incredibly large field, throwing that ball
spraining around. Are you kidding all the UFOs he's gonna
be seeing during the game.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
It really doesn't stop. You know, I will say, I'm
pretty proud of myself. Since the season does start tomorrow,
I felt no need to watch the last episode Hard Knocks.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Oh oh my, I'm doing with it. Aaron Rodgers saw UFOs.
He and I really look, this is where we're at.
We can't show players getting cut, so one said, we
get a four minute story of Aaron Rodgers the time
he saw UFO with one of his friends who came
to practice. Let's just extend it. What can we show?
We can't show anybody getting cut. Can we show the
guys making the team?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
What do we do after that? I have no idea.
There's no more games. Let's have Aaron rod Let's use
that UFO story five and hold on to it.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Whatever we need to do. Let's run it out.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
How long is it? It's four minutes? Great, four minutes
of content. Well, here Aaron Rodgers tell that story about
seeing a UFO outstanding.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
That's Hard Knocks.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Well, you know what, he had to get some glimpses
into his old self, didn't you right, Because he'd been
pretty pretty on par and what everybody would want in
terms of image rehabilitation. Sure, he's happy with his teammate's look, gifts,
I've got handshakes with everybody.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Positivity.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Oh there's Liam Shreiver, all of that stuff go all
the way. Do You couldn't go through the entire Hard
Knocks without him at least going. Yeah, UFOs like some UFOs.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Yeah, they're right.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Listen, I've been on my best behavior and I've given
you guys everything you want to have cursed.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
I've made friends. I brought in the guy in a helicopter.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
You gotta give me one crazy story because you know
I've been dying for this.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Hey, all right, you can tell the UFO story. Great.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
I've only yelled at one or two guys that you've
shown during the course of Hard Knocks, all of these things.
I've checked every box you could want in terms of
my image rehabilitation and readying for the season, while also
showing you that Robert Sala does nothing. He does nothing.
I am the captain.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Now curses great Robert Salas, Oh, that's only done. He
run stars an he cursed.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
He gets the F word in like it's just part
of regular conversation. Like I could see that his only contribution.
You can see him doing that at a restaurant. What
would you like, sir, I'll the blanking sweet potatoes on
the side, I'll get some blank in dressing, and uh
for my meal, I'm gonna have the blank and steak,
except that's gonna be blank and medium rare, right, don't
blank and bring it to me blank and really cooked right,
blank and medium rare. And I'll have a blank and

(06:15):
diet coke, diet coke right, blank? And what do you
got frostburg? Welcome back, my friend.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
How much of the Jets paid Spectrum in charter, by
the way.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
The Jets, The Jets paid everybody to just show the Jets.
That's what's gonna happen when you get to when you
get to week one, the spectrum charter thing is going
to be solved. You're not going to get ESPN or
FX or ESPN plus. You are going to get Jets programmed.
You don't get to the Jets. Someone's do with this
so that the country, some of it, doesn't have to wash.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
The l There is perhaps a little of that, like
a little bit of a preemptive mercy move here that
could be could be so you don't have to watch
it to cintigrade after an off season of height.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Through right after the game, I'm telling you we are
going to smash the Bills Week one. We already we
have a sandwich bet we we're gonna smash the Bills.
The Jets are gonna smash trust me, Trust.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Me, I know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
And I bought extra loaves of bread that I'll bake
on on Monday when I bring the kso and brisk
it in so he can wipe his thrusts. It's gonna
be a crusty bread.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
It's gonna be one of those games where everybody in
the NFL goes, Wow, maybe they are really that good,
and the Bills are gonna go what has happened? It's
gonna be is the Bills? Is the Bills window closing?
The Jets are gonna on this right, They're gonna smash
the Bills.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
I would say.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
The one part of the equation that is interesting, and
as we get ready to revamp and and get our
Week one, I watch a flex podcast rolling is the
question of Stefan Diggs right and what he might be
able to do or does he get dominated by your guy.
Is he lost in the sauce? Does he get lost
in the sauce? Or does he come up with plays?

(07:53):
Or does it become the Gabe Davis show?

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Sure? Sure, yeah, the best secondary in the NFL. Sure, Yes,
it'll be those shows. Let's let's celebrate all of them. Yeah,
I will say this. Look, man, they got to go
do it on the field again, and they will trust me,
They're gonna smash the Bills. Week went, oh, maybe they
are that good? All the Jets? Why why are they too?

Speaker 3 (08:11):
No?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
No, no, Every'll riddle me this, batman, because nobody they go,
why are they point? Everybody else other than Dionne Sanders, nobody,
no player, team or persona in the sporting.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
World has their asses kicked at kissed.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Nobody more than the Jets. Nobody. Well, okay, that you
were right about the first part. For the last forty years, Well, yes,
nobody knows. What that's where we trust me.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Nobody knows.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
You've got some crystal ball that nobody else has been
prettysh the Bills. The Bills have been great for the
last few years. Yes, the Jets have one of the
top three rosters in the NFL. They are hungry it's
going to be a game where Jet Life stated the
fans are going to come out of the stands and
tackle the Bills players. You're actually called going to be sane.
It's gonna be insane.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
Does Aaron Rodgers having to bear one eighth as fantastic
as Lionel Messi?

Speaker 4 (08:58):
You know what's going to be more found? You bet?
You bet it? What's thatpp playing this back Monday night
after the camp and.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Then and then suddenly you're gonna go, oh, we lost it.
It's thirty eight to three, Oh we lost it. Tape
Jets are gonna smash the Bills. But you want a
big fan, I'll give you a fear. I'll give you
a fear of fum Jets Jet Jets.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
I will give you this.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
And that's new with the biggest NFL story of the day. Right,
we watch Nick Bosa come in, oh finally and get
signed forty nine ers, making everybody nervous. Defensive Player of
the Year in the NFL. Is he gonna play? I
gotta get paid. I want more money, five year, one
hundred and seventy million dollar extension to return to play
right this week.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Play in the preseason or show up for workouts one
hundred and seventy million. Of course that's a number three starter. Yeah,
for six years in major league games.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
And also, and if you'rre Chandler Jones, make sure you
can get into the gym to work out as long
as you can. That you do have to negotiate a
working key card that is part of your package.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
He is the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
And the Niners now feel, okay, we are back to
being the overwhelming favorite we were coming into this year
because look, they're still a great They're loaded up and down.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
The rocks fantastic question mark.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yeah, well and here, well, well quarterback, he was fine
last year and now you're bringing the best defense defensive
player in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
Very short sample size. Sure option is a guy that
is terrified. Now here's the thing this is.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
This is you think my biggest fear of the season
is the Jets sucking. No, I've seen the Jets suck before.
If they suck, okay, the Jets sucking and the Giants
being really good, boy, that would really really suck. But
then again, i've seen that before. We'll do our Super
Bowl picks later. I've seen that I've seen the Jets
suck and the Giants be good.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
I've seen that before.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
My biggest fear, My biggest fear is that Sam Darnald
leads the forty nine ers to the Super Bowl, because
you could see it happening, can't you. Sure brock Purty
either is not one hundred percent healthy or he's not
as effective as he was. They want to sit him
down for whatever reason. And Sam Darnald comes in and
it just clicks. Whatever didn't click with the Jets, meaning, hey,

(11:03):
knowing where to throw the football, whatever didn't click with
the Jets somehow clicks with the forty nine ers because
he's on a much better team sure than he was
and all, and hey, don't worry about it. We'll just
hand the ball to Christian McCaffrey. Guys, I don't know
if I can complete.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
This doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
We'll get Well, just here's you do You hand it
to Christian McCaffrey on the first play?

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Right?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
What do I do with the next play? Give it
to Christian McAffrey. We're going to swing pass out of
the backfield. Okay, what about third down? Give it to
Deebo Samuel on reverse? What about and then just repeat it.
Everything's gonna be fine, Sam, Okay if you say so.
That's my biggest fear is that Sam Darnold shows up
and suddenly all the columns all year long are just like, hey,
look at the Jets. They couldn't get it right with
Gino Smith. Ten years later, Gino Smith is a Pro

(11:42):
Bowl quarterback and this huge, rich guy now who's suddenly
someone in charge of this team and he's going to
be a quarterback now in the league to be a
good player for years. Then Sam Darnell. They couldn't get
it right with Sam Darnald but then and he couldn't
get it right in Carolina either, But here he is
now finally in the system, fighting on a team where
Sam gonna say, I feel comfortable, I feel looked after,

(12:03):
I feel like everybody knows what's going on, and it's
gonna be outside potshots of the Jets and every week
Sam Darnold's exactly what this team he did. Oh, we
knew he was gonna be this good all the way
back to USC He just needed to be in the
right system, and he had all kinds of hot takes
on the radio.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
You see, it's just about a quarterback being in the
right system. This guy, you got a guy in the
right system, and the system works. If you have got
a guy in the wrong system, he might not be.
There are certain guys that are great and they can
play in any system. Then there's some guys that need
the right system. Does so happen to guys a jets drop,
they put him in, They put him in. They were
in the right system. So now they're in the right system.
And you see what they do in Chattle, see what
they do in San Francisco. Hits some symptem and that's it.
That's my biggest fear. I thought, I really thought my

(12:38):
biggest fear. I thought I was gonna have a scanner's
moment right there.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
That is my biggest he because as we talked about,
and well, we'll go through a lot of the preview
over the course of the night. I mean, you've got
two teams that are vying for the toilet bowl right
in Arizona and the potentially the Los Angeles Rams. Right,
it does not look good. Cooper Cup maybe in bubble
wrap all year long, just like Kyler Murray, He's already
out on Sunday. You know what I'm saying we're at

(13:04):
a point where you're looking at and then you have
the Caleb Williams story that we have to get into
with his old man a little bit later on. But
the idea is you've got a two team race for
your division crown, so playoff bound and then rolling from there.
And I would love nothing more to watch you score.
Miss Sam Darnold is slinging touchdownsgest fear, biggest fear, because

(13:26):
remember we also know Matt rules offense. It doesn't work
going back the other way either, going back to college.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Well, yes, this hour, Mike and I give you our
super Bowl picks for this season. Oh it's exciting right here.
It's happy NFL.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Eve celebration all around, Hope Springs eternal, except for all
those teams that we've already ripped off of the giant board,
saying you have no chance in hell of winning anything
of substance.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Je.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Yeah, you're already playing for pride and we haven't even
kicked off that the Jets are gonna smash the belt. Okay,
but we just keep using the word smash because I
love you earlier smash Burger. Oh god, no, but you
well you want to talk about smashed. Okay, this is yeah,
that's me Sunday afternoon watching the Bears Packers. Let's get

(14:23):
it off.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
That's Harmon six thirty every night before it comes on
the air. Oh, say something to you right here. Uh,
this is not gonna make a lot of people happy.
But when sports things happen, we kind of we can't
just make stuff up.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I know, this is only three games in the early
part of September, and hey, you know, both teams are
likely headed to the playoffs and it's been you know,
a pretty good run. But sometimes three games in a
baseball season are much more than that. Look when did
the Mets season end? When the Mets lost those three

(14:57):
games to the Braves where they had a three run
lead in each game and the Braves came from behind
to win all three of those games, that was the
official end of the season for the Mets, Right, those
three guys. Sometimes there's things you just can't come back from.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah, I mean, the way they absolutely obliterated the Mets
in that series with the Bats, it was kind of
like the end of Joe Pesci Uh in Casino.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Oh, they're gonna say god thinking, okay, no, no, oh
yeah yeah casino. Yeah, I'm in a field, sitting the field,
I'm taking a break, try to get along one. But uh,
sometimes three games and a series means a lot more
than it does. That was the Brave saying, boy, we
really took care of the Mets right there. Three three
run leads sherezer Verlin didn't matter, and the Braves won

(15:46):
all three of those, and the Mets season just fell
off the cliff.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers just finished moments ago.
Mercifully for the Rangers, they just finished a three game series,
a three game series which saw the Houston Astros ascend
to first place in the American League West, knocking Texas,

(16:10):
who had been in first place forever this year clear out.
They are now three games back of the Astros. Look,
we told you the other night, we talked about the Astros.
If they're not in the World Series, something's wrong. They
are peaking at the right time. And you want to
talk about the last three nights. They have just beaten
the Texas Rangers three straight nights. In a row thirteen

(16:32):
to six, fourteen to one, and twelve to three. Yeah,
they outscored the Rangers thirty nine to ten in this series.
Max Scherzer getting thumped today, this was did that make
you feel whoo? I know, I felt, I felt okay,
I felt okay, I felt okay about it.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
I was like, okay, great because if I gotta watch
Verlander and Schurzer, hey, they're both pitching greats. It's gone.
He's been great. This is going back Houston, he's been
great as going to Texas. Yeah, yeah, great, great, great.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Uh this has been some kind of ass whooping that
the Rangers have gotten in the last three nights. And
you are talking about the Astros apps not just winning
a series, not just saying hey we won this. Look,
Verlander wins tonight, the big, the big matchup with the
Corus Scherzer. But this is something different.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
This is okay.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
You've had, you had a nice fun run this year,
first part of the year. Now, good luck making the
playoffs because now the Rangers are a half game out
of the playoffs. And good luck because if you miss
the playoffs this year, all the money you spent, no deGrom,
no de grom next year.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Good luck. This is one of those soul snatching series
and and one of those Astros planning their flag saying, okay, Braids,
you took three out of four for the Dodgers. You
think you guys are great? Watch what we do over
here now. The Astros are peaking. I'm telling you, if
it's not Astros Bras in the World Series, something's wrong.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Well.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
And as we've watched with the Astros, they were hanging
around with a lot of their key participants in the
batting order on the IL. Okay, there's there's that too,
because suddenly the home runs are flying out in grand fashion.
So everybody's doing a little bit of hand ringing. Don't

(18:09):
don't doubt it at all over in the MLB offices
right as soon as it looks like they're taking batting
practice in game, Yeah, I think you'd be a little
scared if you're Major League Baseball. But a bray you
with a couple of long runs tonight, Al Alvarez is
homeward and back to bad games. You got Verlander or Keatie.

(18:30):
We talked about it a little bit yesterday, you know,
starting to find his way back into you know, bigger performances,
and you're only three weeks away from the playoffs, right,
it's all starting to get that old momentum. Because this
allows me to transition back to the NFL and the
old Dante Culpeper. When they'd start moving the ball down

(18:50):
the field, they'd do that little roll thing with his hands,
and he'd do a little dance and everybody would get
fired up, and then they'd put up a bunch of points. Well,
right now, that's kind of it, right up. Two touchdowns
a night. If you're in the planet Houston, it's more
than the football team's gonna score.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I can tell you that, man, I'll tell you. I mean,
this is this last three nights. This is this is
some kind of askicking that that that the Rangers got.
I mean, look, last night you had al two v
homering in the first three innings of the game.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Four straighted bats. I mean, this was who cares keep
it moving? Hey, sorry Frostburg talking about the Astros.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Did did you get to see any of that Braves
Al Dodger series this past weekend?

Speaker 4 (19:31):
No, I didn't miss the thing. I left Florida right
before they got in town. Oh, very very good. Okay, No, no, no,
they canceled their game. Heard coursh I'll give up some walks.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Uh yeah, well they started the game at seven to
twelve pm and he was really offul Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
It really threw everything off from there that it and
his velocity was then down because they slowed the pace.
It was like they were playing with time.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
You see. If you guys know any pictures out there,
let me know. Yeah, hey, no problem. You look, we
need a couple. I can uh, I can get it going.
I think I can get it right now.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Let's see, Lucas Giolito is probably gonna get released again.
You might be able to.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Couldn't even get it up, hang on them? Excuse me? Wow?

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Oh well look look everybody the Guardian's got I'm gonna
just gonna blow past that.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
I'm just gonna it now. I'm gonna go right.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Just just keep going, don't look, don't look just keep going.
Just don't look back, don't look back. Just something, don't
look back, don't look back. Just keep going, just keep going,
keep just keep going, keep going.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Have we moved on? We move past?

Speaker 1 (20:25):

and I are going to give you our super Bowl picks,
our official super.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Bowl picks for this season. I'll tell you about I
am a lunatic with this one.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Alluded to this one, I mean looking for I thought
last hour he was really going on on a lims
like and I'll see you and I'll raise you one.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
But I do want to say this, not that this
is a clue for the super Bowl at all, but
we did we did watch the end of Hard Knocks. Okay,
we saw we saw the end of it.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
You know, the episodes ran last night was kind of
a filler episode because there was no game to have
to break down. It was who did the Jets keep?
The Jets didn't allow Hard Knocks to film any players
getting cut, so it became like a filler a filler material.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah, but it was.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
It was kind of fun because you got to see
things a little bit different. You saw the breakup of
training camp and they jets went to see Broadway shows
together and they hung out together.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Shark heuterie, which they butchered the pronunciation, but inside I
want to get some of that.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Yeah, it took me a long time to understand what
charcoterie was, Like I don't think I think maybe I
was forty I figured out what that's it?

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Right?

Speaker 5 (21:57):
So like they were laughing at Yeah, I forget who
it was was mispronouncing it, but he was trying to
describe it and they're all laughing. I'm like, it's it's
a word that doesn't really enter and enter your world
too early, and.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
It doesn't sound like something that what it is. No,
it's a big bord to meat. Yes, oh, charge giant
board of mean geeza, wait don't you just say giant
board of meat and geez? They kind of like chark
HOOTERI okay, But was it the best hard knocks?

Speaker 5 (22:27):
No?

Speaker 4 (22:28):
Was it a good hard knocks? Yeah? Obviously Aaron Rodgers
was the story, right, you got you got a little
bit of flavor from other players, but nobody else cared
because every episode was just so focused on Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Yes, we talked about before the show even ran. Okay
to tell you being ahead of the curve, before the
show even ran, we told you this is something Aaron
Rodgers wants. He's gonna love it because hes gonna get
a chance to put himself out there and set up
him his image what he wants to do after football.
Let everybody know this is the kind of person I am.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Well, and that's that everything that was going on in
Green Bay was not like was you know, mischaracterized. You
didn't understand me, and until he got into the UFO stuff,
you didn't have any of the the last two years.
It was like you took the men in black flashy
thing to you and said, Hey, look how great I am.
I love my teammates, I'm working my ass off every day.

(23:22):
I love young players.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
I love young players.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Look, we told you before everybody's talking about it as
in unfolds. We told you before it went on, this
was gonna be the Aaron Rodgers Redemption Tour. Look, this
is what I'm doing. This is how happy I am
to be with New York. How happy I am to
be out of Green Bay. This is how happy I
am to be doing all of this. That's all that
was going to happen, and you got it. And let's

(23:46):
be honest. Aaron Rodgers is the biggest star in the NFL.
He is the big He is the biggest star in
the NFL right this moment. Who is Patrick mahomes as
the biggest star player? I didn't say best player. Who's
the biggest star? Tom Brady's out of the Game's.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Tom Unless Tom Brady's coming back with that that Peyton
Manning man in cast commercial today. I can't wait to
see him on Sunday when he is at Fox Broo.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Aaron Rodgers is the biggest star in the game. Is
he the best player? No, he's still a great quarterback.
But he's the biggest star. There is nobody in the
game who moves the needle like Aaron Rodgers. Rogers the
last two years with what went on the Pushbowl with
Green Bay, we couldn't stay away from it. Now he's
a jet it's the only story the last six months.

(24:33):
He's the biggest star in the game. Yes, he's thirty nine,
Who knows how much longer he has there's other great players.
You can keep trying to make Dak Prescott happen, which
everybody's oh but Dak, but yeah, yeah, I gotta get it.
There's no bigger star in the game than Aaron Rodgers.
He is the NFL. He's He's he's the he's the
college footballs. He's a Deon Sanders college football in the NFL.

(24:54):
No matter what happens this year, Rogers is the story.
If the Jets are great, oh my god. If the
Jets suck, oh my god. If the Jets are mediocre, it's,
oh my god.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
No matter what.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
Happens, No, but he is it. He's the biggest star
in the NFL. I just can't have them near five hundred,
which is what I think is gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
We won't be.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
Because we're to start the season. It's gonna be the
cannibalization of the AFC East, and so.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Everybody cannibalizes that.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
It's like your favorite word, which I worry that about
you that use the word cannibal way too often.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
You think everybody cannibalizes everything. I don't think.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Yes, I don't think there's any team in that division
that's boat racing anyway, Jets are much. You want the
Jets to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. They
build a lot of big hotels in Vegas. The over
under has been said at nine and a half. Okay,
it's nine and a half. It's not thirteen, it's not
fourteen and a half.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
My fault. They're gonna lose money. They're gonna lose case
when everybody bets on the Jets. So we're gonna go
drive into Nevada and go play some wagers. Yeah, what
makes you think I haven't overall?

Speaker 3 (25:57):
I can?

Speaker 4 (25:58):
I can. I can bet on my computer whenever I
want to go ahead, And you know how much money
I've made betting against the Chicago White Side, not in
a work computer.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Come on, man, even on your own I got money
all the way through. You're still in California the last Look,
here's all the money I made betting against the White
Sox this year.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Here you go right, look at that. It's all this money.
Hang on, hang on right here, I'll show you all.
Are you gonna show me that house that the guy
that won the two billion dollars? Yeah? No, here here
it is spot million dollar house. Here, here's here's here's
my winnings right here there.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
You go.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Look at that. Look at all that money, that money up. Wow,
stacks of bills. Jason. If only you parlayed the Mets
losses with that. What made you think I didn't do that?
Because your money would be double? Maybe maybe it is,
money would be done. Maybe get ready to buy Fox
Sports Radio. They're ready to buy and see and it's
gonna be Jet Sports Radio. Jets, Jason, that's when I quit.

(26:50):
Aaron Rodgers, biggest starre in football. Deal with it. Deal
with it.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
He is.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
He's not even close. He's gonna get hurt. I can't believe.
Oh wow, you know what I'm going from keying your
car to taking it and driving it into a lake.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
He just went off the top road, flitting it, just
just just just pushing it, pushing it into a lake
and going go get it. Frostburg. If that happens, go
get your car, like I'm gonna put No, I'll have
somebody do it, but my dad will help me.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
No, what are we doing? This is Frostburg's car. Yeah right,
so let's push let's push it. Let's watch that.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
I like that.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Let's just be your car.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Will rest the bottom of the lake, and I'll spray
paint the chargers logo wan it as I'm pushing it
into the bottom of the lake.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
For insurance purpose. Is I'm glad I didn't say which lake.
I mean, I didn't say which lake.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
You have to find a lot of There's a lot
of lakes over here at the bottom of a dark
You just have to wait till Scottishly, we just.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Have to wait till long until there's another drought and
then suddenly, okay, oh, there it is. There's Frostburg's car.
It's got the charger logo, waned. He even said it
on the.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Side and said jets ruling. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays
at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Well, we have big news today on NFL Eve Travis
Kelce may play tomorrow night with his knee injury. Nick
Bosa definitely going to play after signing one hundred and
seventy million dollar extension.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
What is all this?

Speaker 4 (28:20):
How is your day? Joining us?

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Now?

Speaker 4 (28:22):
Nobody better?

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Longtime NFL insider honesty Check them out Washington Post as well,
Jason Locke and for it, Jay Low.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
What's happening, Bud?

Speaker 2 (28:30):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Guys?

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Now?

Speaker 4 (28:32):
You haven't I know you have a.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Column coming up Washington Post breaking down Syracuse's sixty five
notzering win over Colgate last weekend.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Daughter was there from our oldest as a freshman, so
she was touching me pictures of the blowout.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Wow, Dad, another touchdown, Dad, another touchdown?

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Not quite, not quite with that much regular and it
was more auto and the fancy news score I don't
even know how new it is, but the scoreboard, you
know that hangs above the field, which did not exist
when I was there. But yeah, that's okay.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Colgate last week, Alabama this week. No, we're going so
as them right where we want.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
H So, Travis Kelcey has been the story of the
NFL the last twenty four hours his knee injury. They
avoid a worst case scenario with his ACL being intact.
He's officially questionable for tomorrow. Are we going to see
Travis kelse play tourno?

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Right? It seems kind of ambitious. You know, you've got
ten days off on the other side of this and
an interesting matchup at Jacksonville. I would think they take
the long view here. It just happened yesterday. You know,

(29:43):
it was a significant enough injury that he needed to
get further testing, considerable further testing, you know, And it
is a hyper extension. I know that he will probably
be begging and kicking and streaming and pleading to play.
But man, I tend to think, especially right now, you

(30:05):
you know, be as prudent as possible. And can they
win at home? You know, in the first game of
the year, with all that time to prepare, with the
best quarterback on the planet against the team that certainly
made some strides, I give you that, but who was
downright deficient on defense. You know, they can the great

(30:26):
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes find a way to score
one more point than the Lions, I think, you know,
without Travis Kelcey, I think so.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
And then we have the fun of Chris Jones still
not being there, and now he's made really weird analogies
as to opinions and expert stuff on his on his
contract situation. But kind of interesting, right, you only have
one of the big three of your superstars there for
that opening night, and now it becomes which which guy
steps up and how much difference does it look with

(30:55):
no Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah, And look, I kind of like the Chris Jones
thing has been I mean, it has looked unlikely he
was going to play in this game for a while,
so they've been preparing for that, and I honestly feel
like they were going to come out throwing the ball
over the place, trying to you know, feed off that crowd,
do what they do, which is extecute, amazing early game scripts.

(31:21):
Try to get up by two scores early, get the
Lions out of that run, run run mentality that they
would probably like to be in, and you know, take
their chances without Chris Jones now, yet now you take
away Kelsey too, that's a different proposition, and it certainly
makes the margins a little smaller. And you know, there

(31:41):
isn't that individual brilliance there that we've become accustomed to.
But I think this is also kind of what they
get off on a little bit, you know, and finding
ways to still keep proving people wrong. And you know,
for the Patriots, we used to deal with this with
them all the time, right when they were the bullies
on the block in AFC, and them kind of finding

(32:02):
ways to motivate themselves or you know, keep saying that
they're out to get us, or you know, things don't
go our way, YadA, YadA, YadA. So again, I think
it was the kind of thing that probably brings out
the best in them. But they're gonna need those like
obviously moving forward, right, it's a different story, and they
have a hell of a hard schedule. And again I'm

(32:24):
not trying to imply that this is a layup for them,
but I do think this is a softer landing than
some of these road games they have coming up.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
All right, Jay, the other big news we talked about
it a little bit, Nick Bosa, five year, one hundred
and seventy million dollar extension for the biggest disruptor in
the NFL. Does this make it I don't want to
say unbeatable, but does this put San Francisco above everybody
else in the NFC? Coming back, healthy quarterback, everything else
going on?

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Not for me, I'm not sure they're a playoff team.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Wow, Wow, you hate party that much.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
I'm just not sold on him. And you know, this
team that people always seem to want to annoint, Like
I remember, I'm going five and three on the road,
last year and things being struggle bust for them and
then losing at a horrible Denver team and losing out
a horrible Bears team. And I think it's a top
heavy roster. I have con mean, Trent Williams, when's the

(33:24):
last time he went back to back years without catastrophic injury.
I just feel like that's a big ask dido for
Christian McCaffrey. I don't know, man, you know, rock perty
just go look at the defense as he faced last
year and what exactly they did against him, and yeah,

(33:45):
that that defense better be better, be the best of
the league.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
And and.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
I'm not sure, man, I just I have some I
have some reservations. I like Seattle to win that division
and then we'll have to see how this whole thing
plays out. But you know, it's not like no one's
going to be sitting there throwing brock Purty on their shoulders,
right and loving them up and rubbing them, you know,
grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and rubbing

(34:13):
his head every time he completes a forward pass. You know,
I mean, the bar had gotten so low it was like,
does he have a pulse? Does he have a working
rotator cuff does he does he? Can he throw the
ball fifteen yards downfield? You know, like now it's like
day We're supposed to win a super Bowl with Sky
and Kyle Shanahan's a genius. Just ask him and you

(34:33):
know they's got it all figured out. Right.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
Well, we'll see, right, So Jason crazy like a fox?
Or does a guy just need to shut up? Sean
Payton and his Russell Wilson, Now, hey, you were loved,
You're not running for office and all this other stuff.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
It's like, I think he's just really setting him up
as the fall guy. If this goesself that he goes
beyond him.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Look, I think, you know, Sel Peyton is one of
the few loose cannons in this league, especially in the
coaching position, and I think that year in their broadcast
booth may have loosened them up even more. But he's
crazy like a fox, and I think he's trying to
motivate Russell in his own way, and you know what,

(35:17):
it just might work. I don't really know what to
make of them. You know, this is a weird game
with the Raiders, Like for whatever reason, the Raiders have
kind of had their number, you know, and the Broncos
have often looked better outside that division than in it
in recent years. And I think it's a good defense.

(35:37):
But you know, I don't know. I'm just very much
in wait and see mode with them all the way around.
But Sean Payton knows one thing. The odds are incredibly
in his favor to outlast Russell Wilson one way or
the other. And especially if it's not going well there,

(35:58):
if it doesn't go well there there, then yeah, there'll
be on no another quarterback next year.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
NFL insider Jason locking for our guest here, the Jason
Smithson with Mike Carmon live from the tirec dot Com studios.
All right, so let's think big. We're doing We're doing
this tonight in the show. Your super Bowl pick for
this year the Jets, and who I know how much
you love them all? You love the Jets all off season,
you loved everything you saw on You love Aaron Rodgers,

(36:25):
you love Robert Sala not cursing at all, you led
the So the Jets and who is your pick?

Speaker 3 (36:31):
All? What is it all? Gas? No breaks? That's that's amazing.
No break makes me want to run through a wall.
Let me tell you, I hadn't really done you know what,
It's weird that you mentioned that because I was doing,
you know, reading, messing around on Twitter, and I saw
people kind of making the super Bowl pick. So it's like,
I've done all this content about you know, who I
think is gonna win divisions and who I think you

(36:54):
know is a good value play in the futures market,
and you know, wagering and blah blah blah blah. But
I hadn't really thought about the super Bowl itself, and
I hadn't had to do that yet. You know, nobody
said like, hey, you got to make this prediction so
I don't have one long win. Well, I'm saying I
hadn't thought about it that much. I hadn't gone that far.

(37:16):
It'd been more about who I thought was winning the
division and getting in playoffs and meeting win totals and
not exceeding or getting to win totals.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
I will who are you?

Speaker 3 (37:27):
I know?

Speaker 4 (37:27):
I know I don't have the knot. You're not having
the Niners in the in the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
I know that, so that knocks that I'm not we
can eliminate them. Let's go team by team, and we
have been eliminating too, right, we can eliminate the Colt
I think the Texans. I don't have a strong feeling
good all right, yeah, call me crazy. Not the Cardinals year.
So what do we down to? Twenty seven?

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Already already ala the Jets.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Like I'll say this, if I was playing a flyer
on a team to make the Super Bowl and win
the Super Bowl would pay off pretty good. Like I
think the way things set up for the Jags, Like,
it wouldn't stun me. If the Jags are the one seed,
you know, and that carries with it a lot of clout.
You're you're the only team getting that break. I don't

(38:14):
know the coach has been there, done that.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
I just.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
They intrigued me in that regard and in the NFC.
I just think it's the Eagles and everybody else now
do I But we know how difficult it is to
repeat and to get back there, especially when you've lost.
So I don't know, maybe that would lead me to
just throw a dart somewhere else, like ta about Jacksonville,

(38:42):
Seattle the least sexy super Bowl in the history of
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
So I got to watch Geno Smith in the Super
Bowl wouldn't that be something in the Super Bowl. No,
it wouldn't be. I wouldn't. I really have no desire
to watch Gith.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Like rub the jet Noses in it one more time.
I honestly was it. But I'm thinking of like, all right,
I'm obviously not super high on San Francisco. So if
it's not the Eagles, And again, I think the Eagles
are the class of that conference. Like, could I see Seattle,
you know, riding some home field advantage and that defense
did get better last year, I think be even better

(39:16):
this year. I don't know. I guess crazier things have happened. Seattle, Jacksonville,
super Bowl. There you have it.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Wow, Seattle, Jacksonville, Jason Locking.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
All right, so we walked to that, and now let's
back it out a bit, you know, in terms of
a surprise, right, because we did the process of elimination.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Not a surprise enough, no no, no, no no, But
I mean division.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
Winners, right, Jacksonville. I think we all, I mean, Jason
and I are certainly in lockstep with you on that.
In that division, right, it's them in Tennessee and everybody
hates Ryan Tannehill. So we throw them out Jacksonville wins Seattle.
If it's not San Francisco, sure as hell isn't the
Rams or the or the Cardinals. So by default their

(39:59):
division is do you have another surprise?

Speaker 4 (40:02):
Or I mean, what's coming? What's coming out of the
AFC North?

Speaker 3 (40:05):
How about that Pittsburgh to win the NFC on there
you go.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Are you allowed to say that, being on the air
in Baltimore that you're picking Pittsburgh? Are you allowed to
do that?

Speaker 3 (40:12):
I've said it in many way shapes and forms. I've
written about it at the Washington Post. It's it's established
many times. When waited you could get it real early
in the offseason. Plus six point fifty, it's still around
plus five hundred.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
I think they're going to beat San Francisco. I think
they're the best team in this division on paper. And
I am buying their quarterback. I mean, when T. J.
Watt dresses for an NFL football game the last three years,
that team's twenty nine, twenty nine, ten and one. Yeah,
and that's with the shell and carcass of Ben Roethlisberger

(40:53):
right with the smeared in there. You know, I think
we got a little bit of Mason Rudolph we missed,
we missed what was his name, Duck Hodges or yeah,
we missed him. He doesn't qualify, But think about that.
That's and for how many of those games was he
really himself? And you know high Smith is there. This
her big kid, I think is going to be legit.

(41:15):
They've rebuilt their offensive line. You look at what they
did the first half last year and then what they
did after their bye na Jay Harris yards before contact.
It doubles. I mean, they were finally starting to open
up some holes, and I think they're going to be
even better on the left side as the season goes along.
I like their ability to beat it now with eleven personnel.

(41:37):
With twelve personnel, you want to get funky. With twenty
or twenty one personnel, they can get both those backs
on the field at the same time. And they do
still employ a fullback as well. So I'm really intrigued
by the Pittsburgh Steelers. We know what Mike Tomlin, you
know what he means to a team, and the fact
that he's been at this what sixteen years, never had
a losing season. I think I think they're gonna surprising people.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Hot Stuff from Jason Lock and for check them out
on Twitter at Jason Lock and for Odyssey watching him
post one oh five seven in Baltimore as well. Jay,
as always, buddy appreciated my friend. We'll take you next
week and join the.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Have a great week chance.
