After Harmon, we should look after him. I mean, you

You want to do that killing me off quickly, something happens.
All we got to do that. You gotta do that.
You went straight to Mike. I don't know what he's doing.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Come on.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So before the show, I come in and you know,
we hang out in the kitchen before the show is
going on. And I come in, I see harmon. I go, hey,
I'm going to liquor stores. You know, we go to
the liquor store, which we don't get liquor. We just
get soda, uh an ice cream, and guy, you know,
I hippos, and the hippos are really good man.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So I said, I'm going to liquor store. Do you
want anything?
Speaker 1 (01:49):
And you said, yeah, it's just something with you know,
one shot, two shot whatever of whatever, you know, caffeine.
I just I need something, I said, okay, So I
go into the store. I go to the store and
I get and I get a uh and a little
wild I get a couple of sodas from myself, and
then I'm looking and I see, oh, I gotta get this.
(02:09):
It's Starbucks Triple Shot Energy extra Strength cafe move exactly,
that's what you wanted. It's exactly what the doctor or.
So I come back and I put it up the
tail in front Harmon and I go. I followed directions. There,
here's your triple Shot Energy. Don't tell me that's empty.
Harmon's drap Yeah thing, No, it's close. Here's he's got
(02:30):
the fit on the bottom like where the fluid ounces
shows you. He's drank the entire thing. And I said,
how are you? Not an hour and fifteen minutes? I
said to him five minutes ago? I said how you doing?
Because I noticed his shoulder start twitching a little.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Bit, and I go, how you doing? He goes, I
feel pretty good. I'm feeling pretty good. The only difference
in me the last hour is this drink. I said, yeah,
it is. Give him two minutes.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
He's gonna be running around like you last night, screaming whoa.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Because lance Lynn has gotten through three innings. I've shut
out ball moon and everything, you know. But I did
have a sneezing so I'm like, what's different, like all right,
vacuum dust whatever, And I'm like, what, I've drank this
thing and I'm trying to look at the really small
print of what's in the can.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I'm like, is there something in the here? Like I
don't know of any kiss the kids goodbye before you left.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I did, I did, I got a caffeine, I had
a nice embrace.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Now he's gonna finish it. Wait, let me see that can,
Let me see the can. This can't this? This has
how much? And harmony was just gonna kill it?
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Like he's that can is almost empty, Like it's like
it's the end of a party. Hey, kill that beer
so we can go, all right, image, give me a
second to finish this. And this is not gonna hand well,
this thing has hang on how many servings okay?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
And one serving size okay? Too many? Thirty grams of.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Sugar okay, that's a lot of sugar, gonna go blind.
Thirty six carbs wow, fifteen milligrams of cholesterol. All it's
a meat derivet. But you do you do have ten
grams of protein in this thing?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh good?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
And there's other stuff in it that's good for you.
Like iron, invite, protein and cholesterol. Yeah, and a lot
of tot is a meat? Oh wait sorry sorry, hang on,
there's thirty grams of sugar and then there's twelve more
grams of added sugars.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
So that's forty two per like it needed more. There
you go, sugar.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I really should finish, hold up, finish it, finish it.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Sho chug where my dodger is going, Chug chug, chug chug.
He really wants a new co Ho that tight shirt.
Here's five bucks. Run to the story, kind of another one.
Bring it back? Is it done nowt that can? Is
it done? It's done it? Oh my goodness, Oh watch
(04:41):
it on your forehead. Just watch for harmon. I will
not help you. Just watch just what what. I'm not
gonna help him hurt himself. He's twitching over there. Jason,
I really should have read the ingredients. Let me know
if you cholesterol, like expecting the mocha thing. I'm expecting
some sugar.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
I'm expecting the carbs, the cholesterol slash protein additive.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, you might want to text the girls.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
I don't know that I've ever seen cholesterol as an ingredient.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Now, the Life Insurance is paid up.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I've never seen that the will is made out and
has been updated.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Okay, who gets all the cards? Yeah? The cards get
sold off.
Speaker 3 (05:19):

Speaker 1 (05:44):
I don't have a physical jockstrap. I wish I did, Maddie. Here,
here's a here's a here's a Ken Griffy graded eight
point five rookie card.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Here you go.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
That's here's a piece of the Paul Knarko statue. I've
been off.
Speaker 2 (06:00):

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I did chisel a little off shot shanks stuff the
head of the Northwestern mascot here that he used to
wear around.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
That.
Speaker 1 (06:09):

Why is it a Steiner sports? Can't we have it
here in Los Angeles? Why do we have to go
all the way to the Jim Steiner?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
No?
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Actually, you know he knows.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
We're in Barking gotta on a voyage to try to
get rid of everything. I'm going Swedish death cleaning. So
you're now the Marie condo. No, no, no, no, it's a
whole lot bunch of let's let's go. Does she want
to get rid of stuff still or does she want
to get stuff now? I I think she wants to
kind of get stuff and code to like some mid
level at this point. But once upon a time it
(07:09):
was get rid of everything. There is a great time.
The Swedish death.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Get is pretty good though.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I like that getting rid of everything almost decided she's
decided to be mid Yeah, keep some stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:19):

Speaker 1 (08:11):
So the general consensus and narrative today is, oh, Aaron
Rodgers is out and the Jets are done.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
You know what stop with that? Now?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Is the super Bowl, something that I think the Jets
can win. No, you have to be have a great quarterbacks.
He's really waiting for you to say, well, quarterback with
a Super Bowl. But you think the Jets are done,
forget it. This is absolutely a playoff team. This is
a ten win team that is going to get in
the playoffs because lost in the mix.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Of all of Aaron Rodgers. Forget it.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
You just won Opening week. People are forgetting you just
won Opening week where you had to have your backup
quarterback jump in cold after four snaps. You just beat
a team that is a super Bowl favorite, that was
favored to win this game.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
He was one of the.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Best quarterbacks in the game and all this stuff, and
they were coming in the Bills are gonna win this game.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
And the Jets won this game. They could have turtled.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
They could have easily quit after losing Rogers, because for
six months it's been eight is gonna do it for us.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Eight is gonna do it. Eight's gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
And now you realize very quickly after the game begins,
you're not gonna have Aaron Rodgers. And here comes Zach Wilson,
the Scourge of New York, the last couple of years
who couldn't keep his job as a number two pick
that had to go out and get Aaron Rodgers. And
the Jets still won that bleeping game because you know why,
because the Jets are a really good team. Their defense
is fantastic. Four turnovers. They forced four turnovers they forced, no, don't.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Two of those were not four they held.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Two of those were jump balls down the center of
the field, and who got him.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
He caught him, He got them, but he didn't force
any He threw up, he threw the football. I'm not
on the run.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
He decided to forced is the wrong word for turn
in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Force them for they always forced to and overs because
no one tries to turn the ball over.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I mean, it looks like the.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Jets times two attempts to do it was two. Or
take this, him on the run being able to make plays,
even the butt fumble he had and he ran into
his own player.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Hey I'm gonna try to make this play. Well you
know what.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Then he got stuck by a defensive and the Jets
four turnovers, four turnovers.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Really good.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Playof the third interception was really good. They held the
Bills to sixteen points, right, it's one of the best
offenses in the NFL. They drafted Dalton and k to
be the next Travis Kelsey. This is gonna be James
Cook is gonna take over better running back than than
they've had the last couple of years with Singletary before that,
when they had Zach Moss and the Jets defense played great.
Breise Hall showed you he is back, has the form
(10:41):
that he had when he was gonna be the runaway
rookie of the year last year. Oh, by the way,
Garrett Wilson, who was the rookie of the Year last year,
showing you he's still great. You have Dalvin Cook. The
Jets are gonna run both of these guys twenty times
a game. They're gonna play great defense. They're gonna win ten.
They're not gonna score points now, No, of course they will.
They'll be because six team is going to be enough
to win games. Six team is going to be enough
(11:02):
with that defense. Early on, it's a tough schedule and
it may be a little bumpy, but once you get
out a week four. They won Week one, which is
the biggest thing because once you're staring zero to two
in the face, because looking at the Cowboys coming up there.
The starts once you're staring, oh in to okay, then
things get out of control. You win Week one, that
buys you a couple of weeks to get things back going.
You're not thinking about winning the division. And now we
(11:23):
mentioned this last night. The expectations are no longer on
the team because when you have to play with expectations,
some teams can do it, some teams can't. I don't
know if the Jets could have played with expectations. They
said they were ready to, but I don't know how
it's really gonna go. That's a huge fish bowl you're in.
And I told you whatever the Jets have success, they
have trouble handling it. Would they be able to play
with expectations? Man, I don't know. Now they don't have it.
(11:45):
No one expects them to do anything, and they can
rally behind that in the locker room. I'm telling you
it's a different group. Jets of seasons passed. Other teams
not as mentally strong would have lost that game last night.
They would have played hard, but they would eventually said
this game's not working for us. Our backs are broken
and we're not gonna win. Look at that field goal
that goes in a Doinson off the upright. But they
went on and they won this game against a good team.
(12:06):
You tell me they can't win games against really, really
good teams. This is Zach Wilson with no reps, jumping
in saying, hey, Zach, don't lose the game for us.
And the Jets still won the game. Jets are going
to playoffs. Jets are winning ten games, They're going in
one big game.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
You're talking Super Bowl with Zach Wilson beat the Texans.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
That's wrong with you.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
They beat the Bills. The Bills are a really good
team right now. Look I'm not as high as the Bills,
but everybody the Bills are really good. But everybody wants
forget that.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Oh Rogers is out. They won the game without him.
You really think they can't. How many teams are better.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Than Again, it's one game and it's a great story.
Sala Is staff, whatever was going on, whoever became the
de facto leader, whether it's Zach Wilson or whoever. Yeah,
they rallied and they got a w White End had
the game of his life.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
We talked about it before he.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Earned himself an extra quarter million dollars already in game one.
Good for him when you reach incentives that quickly. And
I don't dismiss it.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
They're a pretty good roster, but I want to see
when there's a game that starts to get away, they
can they play from behind and it's not that they're
gonna get trounced. But we've also seen other teams that
we thought had pretty good defenses in Week one get
absolutely bludgeoned. Right, whether you love or don't love Kenny
(13:23):
Pickett's not the issue. They went and got absolutely smashed
to pieces by the forty nine ers at home.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
The Giants.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Now, maybe I sheepishly should just hide from any predictions
I made about them, But are they gonna.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Be that bad?
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (13:38):
But I'm not saying but no, no, no, But I'm doing
the same thing though I'm going off of one game
and I'm not gonna go to some height high of
highest heights because when we're looking at that offense, and
Garrett Wilson made a play and Breisee Hall had what
two monster runs the eighty three yarder and what was
it twenty five, twenty six yards? Whatever was that accounted
(14:01):
for a good chunk of what he did on the night,
doesn't mean it led.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
To two scores.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
No, no, no, But again, you you're living in one game.
We're talking about a full season. Let's let's roll.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Let's see if Zach Wilson and company in the offense
can produce points. So I like him more than others.
But again, they're not gonna shut everybody out either. Ten games,
and the quarterbacks aren't going to be as giving ten games.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
We're gonna win ten games as Josh Allen was. Josh
Allen's good quarterback. Isn't Josh Allen gaves a good buarterback
a lot. It's a good quarterback, isn't he. Jet's got four.
Now you're just being an ass. No, I'll tell you you're.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
You're dismissing that they beat a really good team in
a really but all of a sudden, you're extra playing
like we haven't seen Josh Allen struggle with turnovers for
the last two years. He's still which we've talked through
thirty five touchdowns last year through one last night, and.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
He turned the ball over a ton and he gave
you a bunch of gifts. Yeah, so you got Christmas
early four. We got both four times on rights. He
turned the ball over a four times ten game. Is
that gonna happen every game?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Does?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
No, No, listen to it over. He turned it out
at least twice a game, four times, at least twice
again years.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Four turnovers, four turnovers. Twitter, and how about a fresco.
Mike gets swolding up. We'll have a playoff team. Yesterday,
you're crying games tap tid.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
The guy gets hurt because I told you you're literally crying,
and I took a shower.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Jets win ten games showered. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays

Yes it's for you, Steve, but I did tell you
the Jets are going to smash the Bills.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
If Aaron Rodgers stayed healthy, Jets would have smashed the
Bills even more they made him.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
It would have been much different they made him.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
The would have been Yeah, the Jets would have scored
more points and it wouldn't have been as close. Yeah,
but you don't know that. The defense then it plays
out the same way. Sure they would have sure would have. No,
the Bills lost that game. You guys didn't. I've Bills
lost that. I saw Arion Foster's script. I saw what
happens see the screen. You don't know this about the NFL.
Is the script or which way books right, because there's
sometimes you can't pure you can't plan for an injury.
(16:26):
But I saw Arion Foster's script and it said if
Aaron Rodgers has heard early, jump to page seventy four.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
So that's what I followed. But Joe Bob, I decided
to follow that.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
When I look back at it says if Aaron Rodgers
is healthy, continue on reading. I continue on reading. Thirty
eight to sixteen would have been the final score.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
So I saw it. Okay, Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
That's right, because you know that sometimes you gotta look
at the road not taken. You understand the road not
take it is and it's there.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Question for you. Yeah, when's the last time that Jets
scored thirty eight points? Over how many weeks? Ever?
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Total usually takes him about thirty eight point let's see
the last couple of years games. It's taking him through
the third game. Yeah, probably made scoring thirty eight in
one game. Yeah, because of Rogers, because we.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Had Rogers, Rogers, Rogers for four plays. Yeah, well not
nearly enough. He had a good run.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Yeah, did you see the because he did have a
good run, I mean with the whole flag flag that
was great and you can't deny that.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Did you see the uh? It made it?
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I mean, you know, obviously, fantasy is difficult to talk
about when you when you get through certain things. Did
you see the guy who lost today? He was losing
by a half a point. It's a big viral thing.
This guy in some league was losing by a half
a point going into Monday night football. The team leading
was done, and he had Aaron Rodgers and he's thinking,
I'm gonna that's like the worst fall forward one time
(17:50):
point half a point. You need a five yard pass.
You need one five yard pass in your or ten
yard pass and take AI. That's all you need you win,
and he didn't get it. The guy lost.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
You know what, it builds character? Yeah, it doesn't really,
this is really built care. Yeah, but it makes for
a great story. Yeah, but I don't like to. I
would like it if you want. I mean, you just won.
Let me tell you.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Hey, let me tell you about a game I once
lost the Beats. I mean Van Pelt might do that later.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
He could be right, Yeah, I could be right. Fight Schefter.
Speaker 1 (18:24):

it's a blastrus to bring you the content we do
every single night. It is absolutely awesome. Thank you, thanks,
thank you for your support throughout this entire process. So
as we look, Aaron Rodgers is still the story that
that casts the the the umbrella over most of the NFL.
(19:11):
But as we we we say goodbye to week one,
look into week two. You know you had look the
Jets beating the Bills was a really really big win,
right you're talking about you're talking about it a win
of emotion and what it means to the Jets, And
I told you it's gonna gonna push them to a
ten win season because it's a different kind of team.
They have the belief, they have this they have this
(19:31):
whatever it factor about them that's spending the last few
months with Aaron Rodgers. And that's one thing that we
didn't get into enough was that Hey, Rogers helped instill
a winning attitude in this team, a belief that we
can win and he's gonna be around. He's gonna be
then that you're gonna see him on the sideline all
season long with the headphones and of course with the
with the strings because you know he doesn't trust the
headphones that are just the year will they if they
(19:52):
if they were to make the playoffs, and I think
in your scenario you're still having a tenant. But let's say,
for the sake argument, that they do make the playoffs.
Will they perform better than he has in recent years?
Will he be a better coach than he has been
as a player?
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Looks like a head coach Duran hard knocks, didn't he? Well,
I'm convinced he's already the guy waiting. He's a takeover
for sala.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Although I'll give Salah and his staff credit for last night, right,
Nathaniel Hackett as much as he got blasted, and Sean
Payton taking his shots.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Hey, finish a game, Sean Payton, He's a GOODFC. Some
guys are good offensive.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Well, we've talked about this forever, right, guys that you know,
Norvell Turner, Wade Phillips, who was actually a better head
coach than he ever gets credit for. But DC guy
that comes in, he's the highered gun, He's the cleaner, right,
he's Harvey Kaitel and pulp fiction m h. Same thing
with when we.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Look at right now with the Jets and Hackett, maybe
that's where he's at and that connection with Rogers language
on understanding and they can pass that on to Zach Wilson,
and for one night it all worked.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Run game.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
You didn't have to push the ball down field with
any regularity at the time you did. You threw it
to nobody in particular except the defender. So some concepts
that need to be worked on and working against what
you'll probably see a lot of zone coverage against him
would be my guess. And three guys bracketing the box
and one on Garrett Wilson. But to that end, in
(21:29):
this scenario, it makes for a curious push forward. For
one day, they rallied and they got the better of
a division rival. But trust me, and now Alabama Mack
is waiting for Week three.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I've told you, told you they were gonna win. There's
something different about this team. They've They've instilled a winning culture.
Rogers is going to be around. He's not gonna be
on the field. Watch the Jets, Jason. You have Zach Wilson.
You know exactly what you're getting. He's gonna throw three
passes a week. Really just gonna be realistic here, It's
gonna be boy that Wilson. Listen, Zach Wilson actually science action.
(22:10):
Zach Wilson actually threw some good passes last night.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
I think he's great. I'll give you that. With Zach Wilson,
we have two of the.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Best running backs in the game.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
We're gonna how many touchdowns did your running backs have last.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
We're gonna win. So we're gonna win zero, We're gonna
win game seventeen to ten. We're gonna we're gonna win
that way. Hey, if Reese Hall breaks off, another one
is Garrett Wilson.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Just gonna could you block for the guy? Trust Every
week is not going to be a picnic. But the
Jets are gonna win ten games because their roster is
still stacked, and Wilson is not gonna be as bad
as he was already. I could tell he's not as
bad as he was last year. He has learned a lot.
And Rogers being right there is gonna be huge and
(22:50):
you're gonna see all season long. Zack's gonna say, hey, Zach,
you made that throw the third quarter. Well, that was
coach Aaron. He said I should look for this. He
said I should look for this.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Trust me.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
The Jets are gonn to be just fined. They're not
going to be world beaters. And but ten wins playoffs. Yeah,
you can't ignore what they did opening night when they
could have just completely folded. A lot of teams would have.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
When I drew up my script for week one, this
was my worst nightmare. Something catastrophic happens. Jet still win.
My team is exposed for the frauds I told you
they would be.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Yeah, yeah, in every way. Yeah, fields with no juice
on the sideline. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
DJ Moore looking around, going why are they booing us
in the second quarter? Players already begging the crowd not
to boo them.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Oh because I'm in Chicago now. Oh got it, and got.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
It, Chase Claypoole quitting on several plays, got it. All
of those things come together, and then Frostburg. I gotta
drag the Chargers in here because I had great hope
that they'd win that opener, and instead Tyreek Hill's still
running around free and clear and a big season opening loss.
I really thought of all of it, all right, you'd win,
(24:00):
My team would suck, but maybe the football gods would
allow them to eke out a win over a team
that has owned them for three decades. NA, hold my beer,
and then your team actually wins in the most amazing.
You know, leg whips, circumstances, no pass interface, it's all fun.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Don't count.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
We weren't going to score for the twenty yard live
say they called it like say they call the leg whip.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
They wouldn't score for the twenty yard come maybe not come.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Couldn't score from the three yard line. They'd have put
zerline out there on first down for a thirty five yard.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
And he'd hit a knuckleball that you'd be looking at
wondering if it actually made it there or not top
and like he did with every kick he made last night.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
But just understand, everybody looks for ways to hate the Jets.
Let's look for wado what hate? They can't score the Jets.
We scored twenty two last night. That's fine because Josh
Allen gave you four balls. Suddenly, Josh Allen sucks.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Wait wait, you know what?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
We played defense? The Jets played defense. They got the turnovers.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
They play a good team. And see what happens. Okay,
got you week nine? Right? Just wait, wait, wait, wait's
see your week nine? Really see what you want?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Just about my worst nightmare scenario for week one, and
you just want to fight like, now, this is the
greatest team ever assembled.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
I'm saying ten.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
It's the little bleeping with sh it's Rick morandus and
hell Bundy, you're out there coaching for crying.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Out line, we may run the annexation of Puerto Rico
as a play. That may be our go to play
for like a two point you're lucky if they're two
and fifteen, they get. That's what Zach Wilson. But if
you want to talk about a team that had the
worst loss of Week one, I'm gonna give you a
little curveball on this right, because we had we had
some surprising games, right, well, the Bill the Bills loss.
But is it that surprised because the Jets still are
(25:40):
a really good team. Yes, without Aaron Rodgers, No, that's
really surprising.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
That's a bit that.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
But it's not like the It's not like the Bills
were favored by four touchdowns. All right, it was a
close it was a close spread. The Jets are really good.
The Jets have a really good roster. You can't sit
there and say, oh something that Joe know, Aaron Rodgers know.
The Jets had a great roster. All the missing was
a quarterback. Are they still missing a quarterback. Yeah, but
they still have a great roster and they got better
at running back because now here's Breese Hall and Dalvin Cook.
(26:04):
So let's just let's just realize that Jets are still good.
Was the Bills loss surprising a little bit? But there
were other more surprising losses in week one? Right, Like
we want the four biggest ones besides Buffalo, the Bengals
losing the way they did to the Browns. The Giants,
they jump off the page at you, right, Joe Burrow
threw for eighty two yards, the Giants get lit up
(26:27):
forty to nothing. Even though the Giants game is shocking,
this isn't an indication of who the Giants are. The
Cowboys clearly came into this game and they were more
prepared well, and they've owned them forever. Right, And look,
as much as I love Brian Dable as a head coach,
it looked like the Giants were not ready to play
this game. And you, when you're not ready to play
your home opener, did you come it out flat? I'm
(26:49):
sorry you did not really see what they did and
tried to do to Dable that he threw a party
on the Saturday night trying to make it and then
it turned out it was for a six Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah, yeah, he had a party.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
But he had a party and they were nipping it
up and it was from for the season open. Look
bicycle clown, shit two pieces of cake and went to
bed at.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Nine to thirty.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
You think you're gonna win a football game the next
day when you have a party. Look at the way
they just disrespected the Cowboys. I'll be it was a
Michael Parson's pitting yacht at every Day. No, it wasn't
a great look for the Giants and it was embarrassing.
But we've seen teams get blown out like this before
and win the Super Bowl. I remember when the Patriots
when they won their second Super Bowl. They open up
(27:34):
the season losing the Bills like thirty one nothing, and
they close the season by shutting out the Bills like
thirty five nothing, and then they won the Super Bowl.
So this this was a game the Giants were not ready.
And this is on Brian Dable. This is more of
how good the Cowboys are and how good they are
defensively than it is the Giants stink. The Giants was
a couple of big plays flipped this game. And I'm
(27:54):
not even I'm not excusing the Giants because they played,
they played credibly, absolutely, but I am less concerned about
the Giants as I am about a team that lost
the biggest game of the weekend that makes me think
whoa and change everything about them. And that's the Seahawks
losing to the Rams who had nobody and you led
(28:15):
a couple of wide receivers who nobody even knew, even
even the biggest fantasy owners not picking up either of
these guys. And these guys go for eighty yards.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
One hundred, it's unbelievable, and.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Two and they just get boat raced. And this is
a This is a Seahawks team that has two good
running backs. Now they don't use that Zach Sharbona at all.
You had all three wide receivers healthy, Your defense is
supposed to be pretty good. You're playing without Jamal ad
bets White, you play without Jamal Adams a long time.
And to lose this game against the Rams team that
has zero playmakers that looks like they could be tanking
(28:51):
for Caleb Williams, and you don't just lose, you get destroyed.
You get blown out of all the teams that had
surprising week on losses. That's the team I'm most concerned
about as the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Yeah, and obviously people immediately all right, what is it,
gene Oh gen O? Does he go back to same
old Gino? Is it a Sean McVay was able to
use the US against the world because everybody's starting to
pick them as one of the worst team and talking
about tanking and no Cooper Cup, all of those things.
Williams had a big day as the lead with with
(29:23):
Cam Akers there as well, so running back situation. I
think that was my biggest takeaway from the NFL Week one.
How terrible the play was?
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Well, no, no, no, but is it.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
It's usually sloppy to a degree, but the number of
no show efforts that we got, I mean to where well,
by the end of the first quarter you just kind
of like, all right, I'm even watching this anymore.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Now you're from Sunday Night football.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Awful the forty nine or Steeler game that was there
was no redemptive value to that after a quarter.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But Kenny Pickett is so good. He's a star. Kenny
Pickett is one one one game and he pick it
so good.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
He's so better than Zach Wilson's so good, dude, look
at the statup last year. Pretty close. It's pretty close, man,
it's a toss up. Zach did complete two thirds of
his passes.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Well, let's not let's bury the league, but no, but
just going down the road, like there were just so
many games where it was unwatchable, and I'm used to
the first couple of weeks are gonna be a little
bit sloppy, right, You're gonna have a couple of games
where all right, one part of it, a squad's a
little worse off, whatever, but absolutely just getting your key
teeth kicked in like they did to where they're non competitive,
(30:37):
and it's like, all right, let's now switch you to
a more competitive team in the second Jim Nancy, you
always hate here.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Well, with the Patriots leading the Jets thirty five to
three here in the fourth quarter, we're gonna take you
to a more competitive game. Hey, the Steelers and the Chargers,
this is a thirty one to twenty eight battle. Let's
join Spirodidas and Rich Gannon, who have the call on
this one. But yeah, the Seahawks, that's the team I'm
most oh, certainly, absolutely more than the Giants.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
Live from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Now, we
talked about the wonderment of Chili's a few minutes ago,
which we'll get back into next hour. Potentially they would
host the first eight between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey.
But how about a story of another bar restaurant, because
(31:32):
brought up We brought you the story of this bar
in Green Bay that decided, you know, to drum up
some business. Put out a guarantee that in games where
the Jets are playing and the Packers aren't, so to
not mess with the crowd they have for the Packers
games when the Jets are playing at a different time
than the Packers. If the Jets play in Aaron Rodgers
(31:54):
plays and the Jets lose, you drink for free, all right,
that's how lose, you know. Saying goodbye to Aaron Rodgers,
that evil guy that is never grateful for what we
brought him here in Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
That was the whole thing. We brought you this story.
The whole thing was if.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Aaron Rodgers plays and the Jets lose, your bar tab,
it's free. So you start drinking the beginning of the game.
You gotta be there at the beginning of the game,
stay till the end of the game. Your bar tab
is free. Well, we all know how last night ended,
and local news in Green Bay, of course was live
at this bar. And here's the report following the Xavier
(32:31):
Gibson punt return for a touchdown where everybody in the
bar was great and love and live from Yeah, I
love Jordan love and I hate Aaron Rodgers all that.
Everybody was loving it. And then Xavier Gibson's punt return
leads to.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
This and the mood has changed considerably.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
That is because the Jets just won the game on
a long touchdown in overtime.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
You could take a look. This is the.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
Reaction from a bar where people are realizing who the
bar tabs they've been racking up all night, thinking, certainly
with Rogers hurt, the bar was going to be paying
that tab. It is setting in they were going to
have to go to the.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Bar and pay that tab.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
That's where we're at This offer is going to be
an effect for the for another twelve games this season,
as long as the Jets and Packers are not playing
at the same time.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
This Jets lose you win promotion is an effect.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
Tonight, Bill and Natalie, the House won.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
The House one tonight. Hey, the bill comes due. The
House always wins. The bill comes due, whether you want
to pay it or not.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
He is here, all the salty packs. They're all checking
their phone. Got hurt stuff? Yeah, like clearly they're going
to lose.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Suck it now your bar bell? Now, here's the curiosity, right.
And for folks saying, well you do this promotion, what's
it really costs?
Speaker 5 (33:50):
Now?
Speaker 1 (33:50):
You got to try to figure out what the cost
of goods sold is for the draft beers, the bottled beers, right,
domestic or whatever. What's the volume discount? And what do
you actually paying per bottle?
Speaker 5 (34:02):
Right?
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Because I may charge you five dollars by cost maybe
a buck, yeah, seventy five cents, sure, whatever, So we
do that, but then we go against the food and
appetizers and everything because that's not free.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
But you also have to take into consideration. It's Wisconsin
beers are like thirty five cents.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
No, but that's the thing, right we're talking about you know,
cost versus a bar here in Calumbia.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Sixteen ounce I cold bottle of Corps light dollar twenty five.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
But ultimately you can go to a lot of bars
in the Midwest and the beard deals are they're three
bucks or they're two fifty. So if that's what they're
charging you, you know, their cost is pretty low. Now,
the insurance is always the other side if things go awry,
so you factor in those costs. But I gotta imagine
you crunch the numbers, you know, your general flow of
(34:48):
folks coming through. I think overall you're gonna win. Even
when you.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
Lose, you pay. Because the Jets won. Now I wonder
if they're still gonna do it now that Rogers is hurt,
Still going to do it? Sure, still gonna do it? Yeah, Well,
because now the Jets, you know, potentially they could lose more.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Right, Yeah, I mean you may change up the rules.
There might be a limit one.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
In sixteen, uh stop ten wins playoffs. It's happening for
the Jets. We got more on this, and more on
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
No Next
