Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, you want experience during your football season,
We'll buckle up.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Sweet cheeks.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
All We've got all the experience in the world. This
is I want your flex with Dan Byer and Mike Harmon.
Mike and Dan break down everything you need to set
your lineups, from position rankings.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
To starts and sits.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's get your flex ond Here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's week two in the NFL season. He's Mike Harmon
and hit him up at Swollen Dome. That's Ryan Bersching,
our executive producer. You can find him at Ryan Berschinger
on Twitter dot com or x or whatever you want
to say. You can hit me up at Dan Byer
on Fox for any of your fantasy questions. We now
look ahead to week two, but still with an eye
on what happened in Week one. And the reason I

(00:56):
say that, guys, is week one a lot up in
the air, and I think that week two sometimes can
be the exact opposite of what we've seen in Week one.
But sometimes there are things that just are what they
are because that's what they are. And I think week
one provided some opportunities. And Michael's start with you just

(01:17):
in your mind, was there anything in week one that
you saw that said, yeah, it seems about right. You know,
that's you know, I don't need to see three or
four more weeks of this. So this is kind of
what I thought it was in the first sixty minutes
of football for the season.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Well, I alluded to it a little bit in our
waiver wires discussion, you know, when it came to brock
Purty right still was only owned in about a quarter
of leagues as waivers were set to process for week two.
But watching him stick the ball in, you know, Tayuk
and knowing you you're deploying so many weapons and so

(01:53):
long as Christian McCaffrey is healthy, you're going to have
opportunities to make plays of That defense didn't miss a beat.
They were terrorizing. They got after it, and so I
guess San Francisco being the first of a couple of
teams that we knew the defenses would be, you know, terrorizing,
and that they lived up to form Dallas with what

(02:15):
they did with the Giants, you know, setting up some
of the most historic numbers of futility that we've ever seen.
And then even with the Jets and losing Aaron Rodgers, boy,
they really got after Josh Allen a bunch and forced
some bad throws and he made a couple of terrible
decisions jump balls basically where you were back on the

(02:38):
street when you'd punt and yell punt check, and then
the guy had to throw it thirty yards down the
center of the field as a punt. Yeah, that's kind
of what Josh Allen did. But the defensive units, and
I always wondered defense offense, who's ahead whatever. I just
know this, those three teams, their defensive units are for real.
And maybe I buy into San Francisco and brock Purty

(03:00):
a bit more.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
For me, there were a couple quarterbacks that I was
taking a bit of a wait and see approach to
start the season, and right away after Week one, I'm like, yeah,
you know what, I Am going to feel comfortable playing them,
and that's Deshaun Watson and Anthony Richardson. Deshaun Watson played
in horrible conditions and still gave you a very strong
fantasy performance. Sure, and the fact that like Elijah Moore,

(03:23):
was clearly the wide receiver two he was kind of
a wait and see guy as well, where now I
would feel comfortable flexing him and Anthony Richardson just because
he's a rookie, just to see how he was going
to adjust, to see him be dynamic in the run
game right off the bat. I think is very promising
for his fantasy value, and I think he's a very

(03:43):
comfortably startable moving forward, just based off of what we
saw from those two guys Week one.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I just can't get over how mediocre the commanders are
in just like there was. I stayed away from everyone
except Brian Robinson on that team. I liked Terry McLaurin.
I will admit that I liked Johan Dotson, names that
we had talked about, but when push came to shove,

(04:11):
I couldn't trust Sam Howell. And I'm not saying that
it's not going to develop into a to a great quarterback,
but what we saw against a bad Arizona team and
how it ended up producing, you guys had some you know,
positivity to talk about, and I just I just Washington,

(04:33):
I just want to stay away with something, you know,
from some of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Well, I got one more. I can go full negative audio.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, let's do it.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
I'll put my Bears hat on while I do it.
Fields is awful. The effort by that team is atrocious,
and Eberflus and Chase Claypool, you could just revoke their
key cards as we stand here today coming out a
week one Field does to get through his reads fast enough.
And so there's the one one thousand and two one thousand,

(05:01):
and we know he could pass. Like there's just the offense.
They called two design runs and then they had two
balls over I think it was seventeen yards depth downfield.
Everything else was the dink dunk or he's looking to
run almost immediately and the progressions just not there, and

(05:23):
something there's a disconnect because I had great hope that
he'd make a leap, maybe not to the level of
some other pundits and Loudmounts in our business guys. But
watching that game on Sunday against Green Bay and look,
another team that we had talked about quite a bit
last year, the disappointment in the lack of playmaking by

(05:43):
the defense and taking that next step to solidify that
squad as a whole. But watching the Bears on Sunday,
there was no positivity coming out there.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Col Comet was invisible moon. He made one or two play.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
DJ Moore was sitting on the sidelines like a deer
in the headlights. Post game, he's like they were booing
us in the second quarter, Like that's where it is,
Like the honeymoon's over. They may be in the Caleb
Williams running when it's all said and done. That's that's
how disappointing that week one was.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
But here's now my question to you is disappointing as
a Bears fan for sure, but fantasy wise with what
Justin Fields can provide again, let him in rushing again in.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Weekend fifty nine yards yet yeah, is that.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Enough to shy you away from playing him?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
No, I think he's for fantasy purposes, you know. And
again this is the you know, trying to take it
into totality that the passing numbers, they can't be any
worse than last year when'd they average one hundred and
thirty one passing yards a game, So he can't be
that bad. But you know, trying to figure out where
we're going to get some balance, because if I'm banking
out of my quarterback to get back to eleven and

(06:58):
forty three rushing yard. I'm in a bad place, but
you know what, just might get there with the way
this squad as long as he does get broken in half.
But to your point, Dan, yeah, I mean he becomes
more a back end number one.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I don't know that I trust it.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
And again, it's week one, it's a familiar opponent, it's
a game that everybody hyped internally right around there. It's
justin fields in the next Packer quarterback after thirty years
of the last two guys. So you know, it was
like a super Bowl for both squads. So maybe you
know it's hyperbole and just the overreaction to Week one

(07:38):
because that's kind of what we do on the road
at Tampa Bay. Probably should be a little bit smoother sailing,
but they get after it too, right. They got a
pretty good and fast front seven and some guys in
the secondary that'll give you fits. But yeah, I think
I'd still be secure where we're at in the quarterbacking

(07:58):
position that he's back in QB one, but certainly not
the set and forget without a little bit of thinking
like he would have been coming into the year.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
For me. I want to talk about the Atlanta Falcons
and how if you have a member of their rushing attack,
you are ecstatic. And if you have any member of
their passing offense, you are terrified. Right now, Drake London,
one target, no catches, nothing.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
That is also known as the London Game, but not
the one that.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Well, Dan, you and I were talking about Kyle Pitts
right as we were sitting in the bullpen watching the game's.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Apropon name as well the Pits.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Yes, yeah, just a really Kyle Pitts ended up with
two catches on three targets for forty four yards. That
team is making it apparent that they're going to run
the damn ball and that's all they're going to do.
And if they are going to throw it, they're going
to throw it to be John Robinson. So yeah, if
you got if you drafted Tyler Algier, you got him

(09:06):
for tremendous value and b Jhon Robinson already showed even
though Algier had more carries. I'm sure that is part
of just working Bijon in and the fact that Jon
I think got like ten catches or something like. He
was phenomenal. So if you if you took Jon in
the first round, you're stoked because he's only going to
get better and better. But if you know Drake London

(09:28):
and Kyle Pitts were drafted as starters on your team,
and you can't you can't feel good about that.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Right now, I'll tell you what I feel good about
since I started negatively and talking about the Commanders and
who Sam Holl was going to throw the football too,
And I don't know if I've made it known enough
on this podcast. I thought I maybe did in our preseason,
but a guy that I wanted to draft, there was
always to talk about the rookie wide receivers. And Jordan

(09:55):
Addison scored for the Vikings, Jackson Smith and Jig Bat
a quiet game for the Sea Awks, but Zay Flowers
was the Numero uno target for Lamar Jackson ten targets,
nine receptions, and I think it continues. You know, they
played a bad team where they didn't need to, you know,

(10:17):
throw the ball that much. You could keep it pretty
close to the to the vest, even with JK. Dobbins out.
But now in some games where you may have to
score some points, and I know Mark Andrews' injury played
a role in that, But when you look at how
everybody else fell into place, that gave me a good
feeling about Zay Flowers moving forward. He may not be
Option one A once Andrews returns, but he'll be one

(10:40):
B or at least number two. The Odell Beckham Junior
stuff was stuff that I just never believed and I'm
ready to cash in my chips even after week one.
I think you're just going to see a lot of
Andrews and Flowers. With Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, I.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Kind of dug that over the shoulder catch that Odell
made for one moment other than chan ray Lewis dancing
as he was coming out of the tunnel, he gave
us one little throwback moment in that game. I guess,
you know, going all Joe positivity and it'll be a
fun test because the Divisional game Week two, Miami at

(11:15):
New England. But I think Tyreek Hill is still running right.
Look at the numbers to a put up and Jalen
Wattle really didn't do a whole lot on anything right.
And when you look at where the balance may come,
Mostert you know finds the end ZONEA and such.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
So I mean they're as long as they can keep
him up right.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
And that was with Armstead out that they did that to,
you know, a guy who was supposed to be a
defensive wizard. Head coaching clearly clouds your defensive mind if
your branded stay. But you got to feel pretty good
if you invested in Miami skill guys. But also if
you took a flyer, you know what, self defense karate

(11:58):
classes like he was Elvis in the seventies, whatever the
hell it was.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Going to be. Two was just as comfortable as you
could possibly be.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
One guy who I would be very excited about. I
have him on one of my teams. Seeing how good
Calvin Ridley was and seeing how featured he was in
that offense was very exciting, and I think that after
one game, I don't think it's crazy to say, like
he's gonna end up possibly top five as a fantasy receiver,

(12:31):
Like he was clearly the featured target of Trevor Lawrence.
He looked fantastic, and he very quickly, like after the
first half he had like seven catches for seventy in
a touchdown. Yeah, I'm very stoked as a Calvin Ridley
owner that the ceiling is truly very high for him.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Keeping the train rolling from week one into Week two
those are just some of the things that we liked
and some of the stuff that we didn't like that
we actually think could be consistent as we head into
the second week of the NFL's regular season. That's Mike,
that's Ryan. I'm Dan. It is the I Want Your
Flex podcast coming up next. What could be the one
to eighty from week one, plus maybe I'll look ahead

(13:14):
to some survivor picks if you're still alive and weren't bitten,
maybe by the Seahawks or others. We'll talk about it
next year. And I Want Your Flex Week two is here.
We got more of I Want Your Flex. The question
is we're trying to decipher on what happened in week
one and what carries over to week two. We kind
of did the good and bad with specific specific players,

(13:36):
not what I want to know, guys, matchup wise, because
there are a bunch of different matchups, and I'm going
to point to the Kansas City Jacksonville one right away.
You guys were both just talking a little while ago
and how much you loved what Jacksonville did in Indianapolis
against the Colts. We're hearing Trevor Lawrence MVP conversation already.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
That's howere I A shirt did says that? Right now?

Speaker 4 (13:54):
All right, Calvin Calvin Ridley was my number five wide
receiver for the years, So let's go.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah, let's keep riding that wave. But does that wave
continue against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are expected to
get Travis Kelce back for the matchup on Sunday and
coming off of a rough loss to the Lions in
week two, that to me was one of the games
where I'm saying, Okay, now do we find the middle here?

(14:20):
Is that where we're going? Or do the Jaguars keep rolling?
Let's start with that matchup, guys, Chiefs Jaguars, how do
you think it kind of starts to play out on Sunday?

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Let's get fireworks. Well, Kelsey coming back means less attention
on those wide receivers who are so much maligned. Although
you know Kadarius Tony went out of his way to
really go back after his old team, like no, no, no,
concentrat on catching the ball, dude, Get back in the whatever, rehab,
get some cryo localized therapy, whatever you need to do.

(14:50):
But no, it's it's really an interesting match, right. Jones
going to be back for this one as well. Right
signed his new deal, so assume you get him for
some level of play, so it becomes an interesting one
over Under is at fifty one points, Chiefs are a
narrow three point road favorite, so he always loved.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
The home dog. I just like that.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
You know, you got quarterbacks and Trevor Lawrence is gonna
want to match up, right. I think we're gonna try
to air it out. You got Etn who had himself
a good game. We have our good old pal, mister Bigsby.
I just love saying thanks Bigsby whenever I get the chance.
So balance there, and I think we get ourselves a

(15:34):
little bit of a score fest with Travis Kelcey in
because the Chiefs had opportunities. The receivers just left them
on the field against Detroit. Right, not to say that
they were suddenly putting up forty points, but you know
those are some pretty monumental drops in big points in
that game. So I assume that gets tightened up a

(15:54):
little bit. And Kelsey just being out there and being
able to be a move though chains and just security
blanket for Patrick Mahomes is so key. So does it
fall back to Earth? No, I think for fantasy owners,
this is the greatest thing that could ever happen.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
Oh yes, And speaking of which is like traves Etn
also deserves a shout out after his first Week one performance.
He was phenomenal involved in the passing game as well.
That was great to see. I think that on the surface,
it feels like, of course the Jaguars have the momentum,
but the Chiefs had the long week. They're getting their

(16:32):
key pieces back. It's hard for me to think that
the Chiefs start the season zero and two. But it's
also hard to say the Jaguars lose this one, given
how good that offense looks right now. But I would
probably still stick with the Chiefs. I think that things
do reverse. I think that that team is too good

(16:53):
not to get things back on track with all the
pieces lining up for them once again.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
They've played the Chiefs competitive competitively in the two meetings
that they had last season. Both of those were in
Kansas City. So to Mike's point, I don't you know,
you can't expect that to happen again. And Ryan, to
your point, I just, yeah, I don't want to bet
against Kansas City. It's one thing if they lose and

(17:20):
they lose a game they played well, I just they didn't.
They were out of sorts, they didn't have Kelsey. I
just I think it's a different sort of scenario. Water
finds its level. I guess was the phrase I was
looking for earlier. That's what I think happens here. I
think that the Chiefs go to Jacksonville win the ballgame.
And I'm not the guy who's always like, oh, Chiefs,
always gonna win, Always pick the Chiefs, but just just

(17:43):
in the spot that they're in right now. A fantasy lovers,
you know, dream for that game, as you mentioned, Mike,
I think we're going to see great production. But I
like the Chiefs in that specific scenario that matchup coming
up on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
I do concurge.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Now. The question is are you are you confident enough
to place any chips towards the center? Is it a
McKinnon day or do we all get taunted by maybe
Pachecko seeing more run or like against the Lions when
suddenly it's Clyde Edwards Hilaire getting the first carries. Tell
me you didn't curse under your breath when that happened
in week one?

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Absolutely?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Oh ceh C h and I saw that funky ass helmet.
You know, I think I may have said that the
Birds as well, like, what the hell is going on here?

Speaker 5 (18:33):
As someone who started Jack McKinnon last week that first drive,
I was standing up yelling at the TV, going, what
the hell? Who let Clyde Edwards hlaire on the field?
You know what is going on now? He lost a
bet with Belichick.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Belichick got to call the additional running back rotation.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
As someone who's had Clyde Edwards d lair for like
the last three seasons, when I saw number twenty five
on the field, I'm like, oh, who's the new guy?
Because I just never thought that he would be back
this still there? Yeah, and not only that's starting on
Thursday night football. That wasn't great, but Ravens and Bengals.
Ravens coming in off that win against the Texans. Bengals,

(19:13):
we know what happened in Cleveland. Another opportunity Division game though,
could make it a little bit harder. I just don't
think anybody envisions now. I'm not trying to put words
in your mouth, guy, so if you disagree, go right ahead.
But I just can't envision T Higgins, Joe Burrow, and
Jamar Chase having as awful of a game as they
did in Week one in Week two, even against a
good Ravens.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Team, little bit of injury issue hitting the defensive side
for the Ravens as we look at Williams and the
peck injury. So keeping an eye on what goes on there.
But yeah, I look at what the Bengals brought to
bear in Week one, to the point where Joe Burrow
gets set down. It was so bad, right, eighty two

(19:54):
yards and t Higgins is invisible. Joe Mixon gets a race,
like all of it just go to hell. Like that's
one that you burn the tape, right, the old adage,
burn the tape and move forward. This is a team
that you're expecting to make big runs, obviously. Joe Burrows
pre seasons and off season struggles except for you know,

(20:15):
signing a giant novelty check are well documented here. So
you get one week. Yeah, you got punched in the
mouth by a team that normally plays you very well. Right,
That battle for Ohio is no joke, even going back
to the days of Derek Anderson in shootouts.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
I've been doing this fantasy thing a minute or two.
But yeah, this is one that intrigues me because Lamar
Jackson was anything but great in Week one as well.
So divisional battle on the road at Cincinnati. Yeah, I
think we got a couple of one to one teams
when this finishes.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Yeah, we still have some more to learn about the
Ravens now without JK.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Dobbins and Ronnie Stanley and who else pops up on
the injury guard. They did not exercise that training room bush.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
No, and if maybe if, if Mark Andrews is ready
to go again. But in terms of just seeing who
who does get the bulk of carries, it could just
be a straight split with Gus Edwards and and Justice Hill,
which it kind of seemed that way once once Dobbins
went down, they had the same amount of workload. Yeah,
you look at Justice Hill's two touchdowns, but Edwards still

(21:29):
I believe had more carries. Even No, I think the
Bengals do do flip it around. I really think you
can take that first game and and throw it in
the garbage. I just it was the weather was not great.
If you're setting Ta Higgins catches at at point five,
I would take the over this time.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
So it's a bold proclamation there.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
I think that hopefully we're gonna get a a true
representation of the Cincinnati Bengals this week, and if we don't,
then we start to have serious discussions about them. But no,
I think the Bengals do get back on track, that
offense gets it together, you get a first round pick
performance out of Jamar Chase. I think that things will

(22:14):
be fine.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I know my Seahawks had a rough go of it,
and I would think it could be an opportunity where
you think maybe the Lions are over confident. The thing
that I would caution in that scenario Lions, as we're
recording this a six point favorite, there are a couple
of things at stake. I know that it's the pro game,
but I do think revenge plays it part into it.

(22:38):
And the Lions didn't make the playoffs last year because
of the Seahawks. The Seahawks beat them in a game
earlier in the regular season. It's a really good game,
game of the forties, a lot of points for shot
Penny at a big game. That's the reason why the
Lions didn't make the playoffs las year. Will they beat
Green Bay? Seattle ended up having the tie breaker over them,
because of their head to head and the Seahawks go in.
I think that there are some issues with the Seahawks,

(23:00):
and heck, I mean, considering how Matthew Stafford like attack
the middle of the field, I expect Jared Goff to
do the same. So that would be one where if
you're looking at it at a swing, I don't know
if it's necessarily going to happen in Detroit. And I'll
give you guys another one where I don't think it happens,
and it's the Monday night game two Browns and Steelers.

(23:21):
Just because of that forty nine er stat. We keep
hearing about how teams weren't winning games the week after
they played San Francisco. Here you have the Browns running
high after the win against the Bengals. You would think
that maybe they could have a come down, you know,
come to earth moment and the Steelers could pick it
up and bounce back. But that stupid stat from the

(23:41):
forty nine Ers, like is in my head in Cleveland
two point favorite at the time of this recording, I'm like, now,
I'm like, geez, cause the Browns actually go two to
zero in this scenario. Those are two matchups where I
think you could maybe see things, you know, twist and
have one team fall and one team game. I'm not
too sure about that.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Thirty nine and a half, as you're over under for
that one. No, Hayward Autae Johnson banged up a little
bit with the hamstring, And I don't know what is
this another case to some degree like as the Bengals
of the art, it was so bad you have to
throw it out because that game was non competitive from

(24:19):
the outset, right, San Francisco just beat the hell out
of them and took their souls pretty early. So but
does it also lend itself? Remember the end of last
year they won a bunch, but it wasn't sexy, right,
It wasn't great football offensive Juggernauts. Whatever picket gets through

(24:40):
doesn't throw interceptions, but isn't exactly lighting and spraying the
ball all over the field either. You get Najie Harris
Jalen Warren have to be bigger components than they were
in Week one. Obviously as the game gets out, But
what is Kenny Pickett at this point of all the
quarterbacks on the board. I don't know that there's a

(25:00):
bigger question, and that that includes my guy in Chicago.
You at least know he can run the ball, right
in terms of what he can contribute himself to a
team effort. Kenny Pickett. I don't know what he is
at this point, so I can't get excited. And I
didn't buy into the preseason and it's preseason football. So
anybody that was just all giddy about running up and

(25:23):
down and running amuck on preseason like, who cares? Like
it doesn't It doesn't matter. You know, it's good fodder
in the moment. If we're actually on air when the
games are being.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Played, how did you see that catch? Other wad?

Speaker 4 (25:35):
We're not talking about it, all right, they're finding something.
He's playing meaningful reps, I guess. But what does it
mean when the regular season starts absolutely nothing and so
against Cleveland's defensive front.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Is Miles Garrett gonna get the dance like he did
in front of the Bengals offensive line a week one.
That might be my favorite video, by the way, on
a weak one, like literally swaying like he was in
the middle of a giant mambo number or something pretty good.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
The iverson crossover that he was doing in front of
the Bengals. Yeah, yeah, that was good. Yeah, literally, you know,
pretending he's dribbling a basketball and.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Poor Chill Burrow, Well, it's not as bad as Gino
when he yelled, oh my god, when Aaron Donald was
dragging him down.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Looking at these these two games that you brought up,
dan Uh, there's some interesting daily fantasy plays when you
look at what happened to these teams in Week one,
Brown Steelers, Christian McCaffrey ran all over the Steelers. Nick
Chubb probably gonna do the same thing. Yeah, and with
the with the Seahawks and Lions. I love this stat

(26:46):
how in week one there were eight receivers that had
over one hundred receiving yards and two of them were
on the rams at well, it was just a.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Gina was just a fly by status. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
So just think about what Amana Saint Brown is going
to do against that Seahawks secondary.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
So there's there's there's really interesting. And I think that
those obviously, as I mean, Geez too too well and
Pooka Nicoua doing those numbers, it's hard to say that
that's a fluke. I think that the teams are gonna
be able to throw on that Seattle Secondary pretty effectively.
So I think Jared goff is a is a good play.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
The problem it's they just Matthew Stafford had all day
to throw. Yeah, honestly, it's you know it the Broncos
and Raiders in that game. You know there's Broncos trying
to get after Jimmy g couldn't do it in the
you know, biggest circumstances. If you don't get pressure on
the quarterback in the National Football League, you're going to

(27:53):
have problems.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
So yeah, yeah, no, you know you you cited the
stat with San Francisco in the week after for teams. Yeah,
I was leaning really hard into the TJ.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Watt number.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
They were fifty nine, twenty six and two when he played. Sure,
did you hear his name other than introductions?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Right? I mean it just shocking. But now you wonder
if there's a carryover to you. Yeah, no extra day
of rest, which is nice, but how much is it
going to play into it? Not enough that I want
to put my chips onto it.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
No, I would agree, And obviously you mentioned the Rams
Bush the Rams playing the aforementioned forty nine ers. I'm
really intrigued by what the Rams are right because I
think and we did our sheet, right, Dan, you put
the sheet up every year and looking at it, going
all right, Cooper Cup's not there, Stafford backy out of

(28:47):
me and kind of does he want to be here
or not? McVeigh. We bullied him back onto a sideline.
But maybe he's looking long term at you know what
the Rams look like two years from now and new
quarterbacks and whatever, thinking they could be the dregs. But
then you have a game like that and I don't
know if it's just a blip on the radar, right,

(29:10):
and does it get thrown out? But you get an
immediate matchup against the forty nine ers to where all right,
here's another test because I still think the Seahawks are
going to be a good team. I still look at
that personnel and yes, you clean up and how much
is you scheme it up for one week?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Right?

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Because we see it in college football like these weeks.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
You're a week one games, right, the non conference opponents
whatever else, say you scheme it up? And I was
like week two, It's like I didn't have any of
that left, right, that emotion's gone, it's left the building.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Whatever.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Here, I'm really curious that so far, when the forty
nine ers fans all pack it in, what's it going
to look like?

Speaker 2 (29:50):
And what you know is can they scheme it up again?

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Or is Matthew Stafford broken in half by Nick Bosa
by the second series?

Speaker 5 (30:00):
See really quickly? Do you have all these these rams
players that people definitely added on waivers and prioritized, can
you really play any of them against the Niners with
any sort of competence? I don't know. I think that
you probably have better options based on matchups.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Niners are more than a touchdown favorite eight is what
I'm reading as we record this. I when I go
into my survivor pools and looking to pick, I try
to stay away from certain things. And I know that
this number is big, and I know this number is appealing.
But there's three reasons why I'd stay away from the

(30:37):
forty nine ers in week two. Number one, I know
it's not right to do this, but you kind of
do have to do this if you want to make
any headway. Kind of got to save the forty nine
ers a little bit, you know this, I mean realistically.
Number two, if you didn't want to save them, it's
a division game and it's a road game, and I
know it's going to be a home game with the

(30:57):
fans that you know, you guys alluded to, but it's
still on the road. I don't love the Rams going
to and oh I don't just necessarily see it. I
could maybe go against all of my reasoning and end
up picking the forty nine ers. I just probably wouldn't
do it, even if they're probably going to win this game.
Probably wouldn't pick them in the Survivor because of all

(31:18):
those reasons i'd said.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
This is actually looking at it from a Survivor standpoint,
it's a very difficult week.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
It is.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yeah, I don't like there's.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
Nothing that just leaps off the page to say, oh yeah,
captain obvious one. Oh this is like reasons to pick
against because like, you don't want to use the Cowboys,
same rationale as the forty nine ers. Right if we're
thinking they're the class and after beating the hell out
of the Giants in Week one, we got to think
that they're there. You don't want to give up one

(31:47):
of those teams early. But then am I going after
Indianapolis or Houston? Am I going after the Bears or Tampa?

Speaker 5 (31:54):
No?

Speaker 4 (31:55):
I mean you talk about two games that you can
flip a coin in the air and see what comes out.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
I mean Las Vegas and Buffalo. After what Buffalo did.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
I'll tell you what Buffalo. Buffalo would be my pick
this week for two reasons. Number one home three reasons.
Number one, they're home. Number two, I don't see them
putting forth the effort. You have the opportunity to get
this out of your mouth, quickly, get this out of
your way. Short week, number three, Raiders now playing back

(32:25):
to back weeks on the road to open the season,
first one in Denver. Now you got to go out
to Buffalo. That's I like that early kickoff bills would
be the one for me that I take. That would
be my survivor pick. You mentioned the Cowboys as well.
Now a short week for the Jets and trying to
figure out that Dallas defense, that would be my option

(32:46):
two for favorites. And then if you're taking a coin flip,
which I tried to do against Denver. It completely backfired
against me. But do you really think the Commanders are
two and zero? So if you still have Denver, if
you're in a survivor pool, maybe that's the one you
go with Denver's already a three and a half point.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Favorite, you're satting against Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
I just I don't feel comfortable in that Brown Steelers game.
I would lean towards the Steelers, but I just can't
get myself to do it. You know, Saints Panthers, you know,
for that double header on Monday night. Just yeah, not
feeling And if there was anyone, I'd go to the
rematch of Super Bowl twenty two, which was the best
looking field that we had in any super Bowl in

(33:30):
the fifty seven Super Bowls that we've had, the best
looking field was in Super Bowl twenty two between Denver
and Washington.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Do you go Giants over Cardinals? Because if that was
a Week one matchup for your Survivor pool, I feel
like people would have slammed that. But then, of course,
given the showing that the Giants gave in Week one,
does even the Cardinals feel too risky for the Giants?

Speaker 2 (33:53):
No, I could get on board that way.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Probably, Yeah, I probably would.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Will be it'll be probably a top five pick. Just
I don't like to pick road teams. Yeah, that's just
my and I. You know, there's certain criteria and how
it fits which shows because last year I entered it.
If you want to know how good my formula is,
last year I entered in five survivor pools, made different

(34:18):
picks each week, and folks, I was eliminated in all
five by week six. So there is your information that
that's why you lean on me for the survivor picks.
But I think there are a lot of people who
were burned. Mike's Bears knocked me out of my last one,
and then they went to New England and topped the
Patriots last season, so.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Yeah, they'll shock you every now and again.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
I talked to my parents, they live outside of Tampa
today and they, you know, they were kind of giddy
about the victory. And now the Bears come to town.
I go, yeah, it's gonna be a tough watch, that's all.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Yeah, oh man, I get that is not going to
be a esthetically pleasing unless Baker Mayfield run around like
a lunatic.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Again, we've survived this podcast, so so we we hope
you enjoyed listening. Coming up, we'll give a look at
Thursday On Thursday Night football vikings and Eagles trying to
sort out what Philly is going to do. In that backfield.
Who knows if we even have answers. Plus later on
in the week, Michael Levis rankings for top five players

(35:26):
at the quarterback running back position and all that heading
into week two. So all right, fellas anything I left
out before we wrap this bead, boy up. I think
we're good.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
I think we're good. Brother, I think we're good. Thank God.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
It's time to get to get back to, you know,
post waiver wire pickups and tormenting league mates on the
message board.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
They are tormenting me with more stats and all the
Rams destroy the Seahawks and.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
We want do you know there's a guy for my
Carver and Ryan Versinger.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
I'm Dan Byer. I'm getting the heck out of here
with back to the next time here and I want
your flags
